Age: 28
Species: Human
Appearance: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcSDfuBneDjePNxKB4t2_s55bNtdm_bFL1-9AVcTbcMUgyFdQdDp
Planet of origin: Contruum
Rank and title: Senator for Contruum
Short biography: Tyro Maydar was born on Contruum, in the waning days of the Clone Wars. He was 9 years old at the time of Order 66 and the rise of the Empire. As he grew up, the Empire slowly wrested control of Contruum's shipyards and factories from their private owners. By the time Maydar was 15, Imperial-affiliated companies had almost completely replaced the privatized industry of old. Because Maydar's father was a factory owner, his family was greatly affected when the Empire "bought out" their factory. Life went on until the Rebellion came to Contruum. Maydar joined the Rebel Alliance after promises to restore privatized industry were made by the local resistance cells. At the Battle of Hoth, Maydar served as an infantryman. His terrifying experience there would shape the rest of his life. While defending the trenches in front of Echo Base, Maydar's entire unit was wiped out attempting to hold the line. Out of nearly 200 soldiers, Maydar was the only survivor. Advancing Imperial troopers captured him and he was held as a prisoner-of-war until the Battle of Endor, when he freed in a riot on the planet Coruscant. Maydar managed to return to Contruum, where he became a politician. He gained a reputation as a champion of the people, and became Contruum's youngest Galactic Senator in planetary history at the age of 28. Called out by some as "just a boy", Maydar's experiences during the Galactic Civil War have given him maturity beyond his years.

Political information
Political views: Maydar believes very strongly in a free market economy, and is highly resistant to non-privatized industry in any forms. He also believes the Senate's structure is outdated at its core. Maydar wants to restructure the voting system to give the smaller planets more voices.
Political faction and subfaction: New Republican I Parliamentarian
Organisational allegiance: Galactic Senate I Contruum Planetary Government
Position within galactic government: Senator for Contruum
Political goal: To restructure the Senate, primarily the voting system, to protect privatized industry and a free market economy.
Favourable factions: Decentralists
Unfavourable factions: Early Imperials I Palpatinists I Radicals I Seperatists I Warlords
Key issue: The Economy, The Banks

Additional
Relations with other players: None as of yet
Additional info: None

Only one player TGed (Direct Messaged) me a link to their app as per my request. I still have more to add to this, however I forgot this morning that I had scheduled the viewing of a movie in an hour. If your character is not on the list I would appreciate the DM/TG of the link for expedience. I'm happy to finally be no longer distracted by the tasks that have delayed me.

This area will contain a list of groups formed between player characters that transcend factions or comprise a subfaction. An example in Star Wars would be the 'Alliance to Restore the Republic' which while largely consisting of Centralists also drew in anti-Imperials from the old Decentralist faction. There are none currently in the RP.

Thane? As in the Rebel Ace Pilot turned Firebrand Senator? That Thane?

Tiasha would also be interested. She'd be open to having more talent on her staff, especially if it's someone who knew their way around the Imperial bloc and could get them on side with their lobbying efforts. Though don't change any of y'alls plans on my behalf :)

You're the Hutt representative, if I recall correctly.

...Hutts are a necessary evil, but as Caliman stated, they need the Hutt's money and influence. While I could be persuaded, Caliman's sadly a pro-Imperialist through and through. His loyalty and support can never be bought...but it can be rented.

Firstly, I need to figure out how best to submit to the provisional government. If Thyferra's anything to go by, Imperials may not be welcomed, and I don't intend for my guy to be the subject of a lynch mob because of his association with the Imperial Academy Programme.

And of course, revitalizing the Academy Programme to allow social mobility/opportunity for the disenfranchised planets, and as an alternative to base conscription. At least, that'll be my segway. In exchange for protection...

...I'm probably over exaggerating the possibility of getting space guillotined. Hopefully.

Thane could guarantee protection if such a revitalization scheme where to yield success.

And what would be considered "Successful" for Senator Thane? Sort of like a Labor Corps, utilizing ex military folks and Academy graduates to help with the needed infrastructure for the social welfare programs? Working as PR to transition the next generation into democracy?

Fair enough. Though on a related note, we should look at trying to form an alliance of decentralists within the legislature! At the moment the push seems to be towards increased Senatorial power.

And that means less power, or rather, more checks for powerful individuals such as us. Care to crack open a bottle of Space Chardonnay over a shadowport?

Hear-Hear! I'd also argue that it would be better for the New Republic. Neither the Empire nor the Republic succeeded in governing the Outer Rim by centralising power towards the Core. It's only by respecting the right of member worlds to self-govern that order and development can be brought to the Rim!

Of course, I'll send a communique to Thane and maybe meet you in a cozy outer rim area. I might be needing your...connections to keep an eye on the Imperial Warlords. Both to strategically provide aid and cement my position in the Really New Order That We Swear Isn't Gonna Break(TM). The Hutts will be useful in taking out the less competent/more stubborn/arrogant warlords and bringing them into the fold (read as, new and greatful markets) and the Amidalists get to make the Senate look actually competent...

Until some weirdass blue boy from the Unknown Regions in a shiny white Grand Admiral uniform comes a-knockin'.

Then things start revolting. Credibility and credits can muster a hundred fleets and a thousand worlds.

Ohh yes, please do! I'm sorry, I must have missed it. But you can go ahead and lay out the arguments.

If other players want to contact NPCs, it would be best to go as far ahead as possible in the conversation. Just assume you are allowed in, that pleasantries are exchanged, and that you get right to business. That way things will move a lot quicker, which is better for everyone.

Breaking News! Chancellor Kasel has announced another foreign intervention in the country of Laraosi. This move has been echoed with some praise, but many are decrying the move as another "Capilean Folly." The Chancellor is scheduled to give a speech on the matter in the next few days.

Here's the app - am I supposed to TG someone, or is this enough?

Application
Personal information
Name: Errun Dov Anril
Age: 35
Species: Human
Appearance:
Image

Planet of origin: Rendili
Rank and title: Senator
Short biography: Senator Errun Dov Anril of Rendili is, by most standards, a troubling mass of deliberately attenuated contradictions. To his admirers, he is a pragmatic progressive willing to make the tough calls in the pursuit of a more just galaxy and pursue partnerships even with natural foes. His enemies, however, would call him a spectacular cynic on a good day and a baleful extremist cloaked in an affect of bonhomie. Either way, Dov Anril is a riddle wrapped in an enigma best explained, at the end of the day, by Rendili’s commercial interests.

At present, Senator Dov Anril is by far the less famous bearer of his name – his father, Arlyn Dov Anril, was an independently wealthy industrialist in Rendili’s shipyards and his mother, Qarra, a high-profile judge and political theorist. When Rendili’s rivals on Kuat won the contract to supply the Grand Army of the Republic, Rendili’s famous shipyards were effectively bankrupted. This nearly ruined the planet, which rapidly developed Confederate sympathies. When the Clone Wars broke out, Dov Anril’s parents both embraced the separatist cause whole-heartedly along with their planet. Dov Anril’s mother was even Justice Minister of the pro-Confederate Provisional Government. Unfortunately for the Dov Anril family, Rendili’s independence was swiftly crushed by the Republic. Dov Anril’s father lost his fortune, his mother was jailed for treason, and the young Dov Anril’s previously secure life was thrown into chaos.

Errun Dov Anril, however, swiftly emerged as a driven and calculating young man. The last of his family’s fortune saw him through law school, after which he followed his mother’s footsteps and took up practice as a defense attorney. He swiftly established a reputation for his theatrical court-room demeanour, effective use of the media, and seemingly endless contacts in the planetary bureaucracy. Dov Anril made his money defending a variety of the planet’s corporate interests in court against Imperial regulatory authorities, restoring his family’s finances from their parlous state. His name, however, was made doing pro bono work defending the rights of Rendili workers, political dissidents, and former Confederates from Imperial authorities. His rate of success in winning cases on legal merits was dubious at best – Dov Anril was only a mediocre lawyer, and even a genius would have had a tough time using the Imperial justice system against itself. But Dov Anril’s skills lay more with politicizing cases – what his admirers would call democratic populism and his foes shameless self-promotion. He was famed for having an extremely good nose for Imperial factional politics, and was more than willing to involve himself in it to win his cases outside the courtroom. Erudite, telegenic, affable, and swaggeringly self-assured to the point of smugness, Dov Anril rapidly gained a loyal following among Rendili’s suffering masses as a champion of the common man.

This endeared Dov Anril to both Rendili’s populace and its powerful corporate sector at a critical juncture. What had once been one of the Republic’s greatest and most prosperous shipyard worlds had fallen on hard times, playing second fiddle to Kuat. While Kuat Drive Yards absorbed near-endless contracts for the ever-expanding Imperial Navy, Rendili Hyperworks found itself stuck with increasingly worthless repair contracts. The temporary realignment to the Separatists only worsened Rendili’s reputation, leading to an extremely high rate of unemployment and hard times for all. Labour unrest, continuity Separatists, Rebel cells, and radical dissident groups proliferated. Even Rendili Stardrive took on contracts building ships for the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In this climate, Dov Anril’s appeal to the boardrooms and the masses, his relative youth, and the famous names of his parents made him a natural fit for when the Empire collapsed and Rendili’s elites began casting about for an acceptable nominee to the Senate.

Errun Dov Anril’s personal politics boil down to a progressive conservatism inherited from his mother – he argues that democracy to be the best system for keeping peace between social classes and building up culture, and argues that the old republic failed when the powerful gave up on their commitment to public service and instead began treating the government as a mode of self-enrichment. He therefore accuses both the late Republic and the Empire of moral corruption, arguing that despite its harsh militarist rhetoric this era was dominated by monomania and greed, in which powerful special interests came to identify their own selfish goals with the good of the galaxy. This particular kind of egoism, according to Dov Anril, was what destroyed the moral basis of the Old Republic long before it fell to Palpatine. Ultimately, Dov Anril would define democracy not as a system in which all are perfectly equal, but one in which all have equal moral worth and opportunity for self-improvement.

Senator Dov Anril therefore has three major proposals to secure a new republican administration. The first is federalization – he would like to see current sector governments given far greater economic and political powers, as well as funds collected from a galactic income tax to bankroll social services. Sector governments would be democratically elected. This would account for regional interests and needs, create meaningful political engagement for the citizens who otherwise could only choose a senator to send far away, promote political accountability, and free up the Senate to focus on issues of legitimate galactic importance. The second proposal is to establish a Senate committee to investigate the crimes of the late Republican and Imperial periods, identifying both state and private-sector institutions which engaged in corruption and abuses against sentient rights and expropriating their assets and funds. These would be used to promote industrial recovery in the Rim, bankroll the transition to a civilian economy, and help compensate victims of the Palpatine regime. Finally, Dov Anril proposes a Universal Charter of Sentient Rights protecting the freedom and security of the person.

This is a rather ambitious reform agenda, but its motives are ultimately to preserve society as it was before Palpatine’s ascension to power. Only by assuming responsibility for the well-being of the masses can the galaxy’s elites regain their moral legitimacy – with bold action, Dov Anril believes that the cross-class harmony he promotes on Rendili can be replicated elsewhere. Failure, however, would doom the galaxy to a permanent cycle of violence in which civilization would be impossible.

Political faction and subfaction: New Republican Decentralist
Organisational allegiance: Rendili Stardrive (lol)
Position within galactic government: Senator and incorruptible idealist who, by accepting large cash payments into his campaign funds, is willing to ensure that dirty money doesn't fall into the hands of a politician who actually could be swayed by special interests.
Political goal: Senator Dov Anril’s immediate priorities are a full investigation of the Palpatine regime’s private-sector contributors, the passage of an industrial relief bill, and the full publication of the ISB’s collected information on galactic citizens, including complete lists of all agents and informers. The first and third priorities are more or less pet projects based on a commitment to justice, while the second is needed to stabilize both Dov Anril’s position on Rendili and the galactic economy.
Favourable factions: Separatists, Valorumists, Radicals
Unfavourable factions: Centralists, Amidalists, Imperials of all stripes
Key issue: Dismantling the Core power elite that enabled Palpatine and also just happens to include all the economic competitors to the businesses that bankrolled his campaign.

I'll get a post up soon In the meantime, I'd like to say thanks to the OP and everyone else for this RP. This has proven far more interesting than the immediate return to formula that Episode VI suggested. And more realistic too.

Sorry for any mistakes I make with regards to history while roleplaying in historical RPs. Also I am not a qualified historian or academic. None of the make-believe I do is likely to stand up to academic scrutiny.

Personal information
Name: Errun Dov Anril
Age: 35
Species: Human
