El Cargotá, a Latin American country with its capital in Bartago. The country was founded alongside the other Latin American republics after the collapse of the Spanish Empire, and has one of the largest indigenous populations in the region, at nearly 30% of the entire population. During the Cold War, as the United States and Soviet Union fought over dominance, with the world as their battleground, El Cargotá became aligned with the US along with most of its neighbors, but remained democratic and never slipped into a military junta.

El Cargotá is now looking for its place on the world stage. While most of its Latin American neighbors are closely allied with the United States, some, such as Bolivia and Venezuela have turned to the Russia-China bloc. The population of El Cargotá is sharply split politically, ever since the 2008 elections, the social democratic Partido Democrático Popular de El Cargotá (People's Democratic party of El Cargotá), led by the charismatic President Miguel Tafalla, has been in control of both the presidency and the unicameral legislature, the National Assembly. Under him, the country has taken a sharp leftward turn, although not as much as Bolivia or Venezuela, and social programs and welfare have expanded. He managed to expand social programs while keeping high economic growth in the country, which made him immensely popular throughout the 2010s, as well as winning indigenous voters through his affirmative action policies.

However, he became controversial after amending the constitution to abolish term limits, allowing him to run for reelection in the 2016 presidential election, with his popularity also wavering due to economic slowdown. In the 2016 presidential elections, opposition parties made huge gains in the National Assembly, however, his party and its left wing coalition still retained the majority with a 116 seats and he still won the presidency. His second term has seen more economic sluggishness, which opposition parties blamed on his raising of taxes to pay for his social programs, as well as industry moving to other countries where the burden of taxation is lighter. Along with that, he has made extremely controversial foreign policy decisions, such as lowering tariffs with China and moving El Cargotá closer to Russia and China. His decision to allow China to rent an important port for 50 years sparked protests in 2018. His softness towards the Maduro regime has also been a cause of controversy. Many have accused him of tampering with the final count of the 2016 elections.

Now, as the 2020 elections get nearer, clamors from the right as well as other left wing parties grow against President Tafalla, and an air of uncertainty has settled in the country over its future…

El Cargotá is a standard Latin American presidential republic, with three branches of government independent of each other, whilst still checking each other. Elections occur every four years, and elections for the presidency as well as every seat of the unicameral legislature, the National Assembly, happen at the same time. The government is based in the capital city of Bartago, and the country is a unitary state, however divided into 200 districts, each of which elects one representative to the National Assembly. The president is elected by direct popular vote. The president appoints judges to the judiciary, and has the power to approve or veto ay legislation, which can be overridden by a supermajority in the National Assembly. The party or coalition with a majority in the National Assembly elects an Assembly Member to be the Premier of the Assembly, the head of the legislature, who assigns committees and chairs.

He rose to the forefront after his mentor finally retired and handed the throne off to his heir. Taking up the mantle very quickly. He showed his skill as an orator on the floor of the assembly. His shrewd ability to lead his fellow delegates came quickly to him. After serving as member of the army, his military service showed him the courage he needed to lead men. But also the power of persuasion when motivating these men of power to do something they weren't sold on.

Born in the capital to an affluent family. He grew up around the powers of the government. His own father serving as the Minister of Defense for several years before retiring. Following his father into the military service. He attended the top military academy in the country. Graduating seventh in his class. He was quickly promoted within the ranks. After serving for twenty years, he resigned his commission and returned home to assist his father in the Ministry of Defense. Serving as a minor department head. He learned the trade of the federal bureaucracy. After five years in the Ministry. His father retired. Taking his leave alongside him. He stepped into the ring and ran for election in the election. At forty-three, he began his political career. Always against the sitting President politically. He resisted the sweeping changes best he could. But when the constitution was thrown out, he could stand it no longer. Using the tools he learned in the military and in the ministry. For twelve years he has voiced his beliefs so all would know. Shrewd and cunning enough to realize when he was beaten, his loss always landed him better sitting on his feet than his opponents. Now the leader of the opposition, he has the ability to lead a united front against the failing regime. Still an active supporter of the military, he has retained his friends in the military. Now, just waits. A civil servant through and through. But not without more amibition.

I know you’re not finished, but already I can see some problems. First of all, there’s no way someone that young and inexperienced would be the minority leader, it would definitely be a more experienced person.

Also, kind of like with other political RPs, people tend to gravitate towards the young hotshot type character, which is fine, but many people will gravitate towards something similar.

Name: Ambrosio Geraldo Walsh Ayala; goes by Ambrosio Walsh. Referred to as "Reagan" by the PDP for his known disdain of the Russian military advisory mission. The rank-and-file of the military commonly refer to him as "Comandante Walsh," at his request. Personal friends know him as "Ambo."

Biography: "My family has been on the continent since the 1700s, brought here by Spain. The Walshes, or at least my branch, came to this continent as professional soldiers of Spain, members of the Irish units under the Spanish Army. They served the Crown up until the War of Independence, in which our family truly began its service to the state. Every male Walsh, with a few exceptions, has served in the armed forces in some capacity. By no stretch is my family lauded for its service, but we do prefer the brevity in this regard."

"As for me, my story began at the ancestral estate of Nueva Jarama. I should keep my childhood brief. I spent much of it drifting from post to post, as my father kept his commission in the Army for the majority of my youth. My education came from military-administered schools from the age of nine, on until I graduated from high school. Upon graduation, I traveled to the United States on a student visa and attended Norwich University, a private military institute in the state of Vermont."

Drug cartels from Colombia and Chile began establishing clandestine labs and airstrips in our jungles and killing whatever cops or civilians refused to accept their blood money, so we were sent in. Looks good, just change his position to “Assembly Minority Leader,” since this is a presidential system, not a parliament. Also the Assembly Minority Leader is a member of the assembly as well (Although I assume you know that)

1. Yes, he changed the constitution to do so. However, he’s quite old by now and might possibly have failing health in his second term, which would make the VP president if he won and resigned

The executive branch is separated from the legislature, the president can appoint whomever to be in the ministries, it’s akin to the presidential cabinet in the US or any other presidential system
