NEW PREDATORY DINOSAUR DISCOVERED

Deep within the mist shrouded podocarp forests of ancient Malaio, the final breath of an apex predator is taken. 147 million years later the rumbling of logging trucks and roaring of chainsaws is intermixed with the faint tapping of the lightest of chisels and hammers as paleontologists, geologists and volunteers work ceaselessly to unearth this slumbering scion of Tū-te-wehiwehi in surroundings that wouldn't seem far removed from its prehistoric home.

This scene paints the picture that helps to illustrate the latest published discovery of Allosaurus Malaioi by Doctors Toa Taiwhiri, Fatimah Srikoa-Allyang and Eikònā ṑxpoannju Āi. Working across 3 digsites in Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa, Pulau Kermat and Iskail, these leading scientists are helping to peace together the ancient fauna and flora of Malaio through the support of the Scientific Institute of Malaio-Ozeros (SIMO). The large predatory dinosaur represents one of the most important discoveries for ancient Malaio as the apex predator of it the time. A member of the wider Allosauroid family of predators, A. Malaioi represents one of the youngest members of the Allosaurus genus, yet is one of the oldest fossils yet discovered in Malaio and the oldest large theropod dinosaur. Growing up to 9.5m in length and weigh over 2,100kgs it has several unique features which include a more heavily built skull with more pronounced ridges above the eyes, and more heavily built forelimbs. The environment it inhabited seems to have varied significantly, from open flood plains to dense conifer forests of podocarps.

Despite being unveiled today, the work on these findings has been going on since the first fossil being unearthed in 2002, as part of the first wave of “Dinosaur Hunters” from the SIMO. With little in the way of fossil research and discovery conducted in Malaio overall, it was considered a key area of focus for the SIMO. Bringing together the necessary funding and minds to make it happen required a massive effort on the parts of everyone involved but now we are starting to see the results, with the distant past of Malaio being brought to life. Working under sometimes severe weather conditions of rain and cold, Doctor Taiwhiri recalls the difficulty of the Ngāti Onekawa-Nukanoa dig in an interview he gave. “The early days were an intense struggle. The location was remote and deep into the Kaweka Ranges. For the first several weeks we relied on military helicopters to fly in supplies and equipment. And the weather seemed against us so we were constantly wet and cold”.

“I must also apologise to Papatūānuku for how feverishly we dug into the earth, but I'm sure she'll be merciful for what we have found” Doctor Taiwhiri continued “The combined efforts of our researchers and volunteers who have struggled to help bring forth this key aspect of our distant part. Allosaurus Malaioi showcases not only our how our shared heritage extends back long before us, but through cooperation will last long after we are gone”.

Following several years of excavations, discussion and painstaking preservation work of eight separates individuals from the three dig sites, these in total showcase a remarkable 87% of the whole fossil including the distinguishing aforementioned skull. The cast displays of A.Malaioi are to be put on display in the next several months in the national museums of all AMON states.

YERUSHALAYIM, YISRAEL — According to the release of a leaked voice message by Gran Aligonian interim Grand Minister Leuter Sion to Montian President Yolande-Minerve Saverne, relations between the trans-Periclean isles and the nations of Latium and Yisrael continue to plummet, at least in the estimation of the GA's transitional executive. The voice recording is alleged to have been caught by the Latin electronic intelligence agency Speculatores/AIR, which reportedly has a listening outpost in Ascalzar near both the GA and Republic of Mont. Insider sources say that Latium shared the recording with the signals intelligence wing of the Royal Yisraeli Security Service, who briefed President Katz and the Security Cabinet.

The explosive voice message, which was verified by several independent analysts contacted by the Dispatch as belonging to Sion using comparative computer technology that analyzed the message and reviewed it next to other public recordings of the Gran Aligonian interim executive, delves into several topics, with Sion alluding to the Internet rumors of an alleged joint Latin-Yisraeli plan to boost royalist candidates in the upcoming GA elections. Sion pointedly calls President Katz "unstable" and harshly criticizes the Royalist Counterrevolution by His Royal Majesty King Hezekiah III as "shameful" and an "authoritarian takeover." He later puts Latium's leaders in his cross-hairs, calling them "holier-than-thou" and insinuating that self-exiled GA royalist leader Duke Alexandre del Villar (residing in Latium) will "whisper into [Latin leaders'] ears [...] until they try something more than election buying."

(...) and yes, I mean, look at this whole counter-revolution in Yisrael, if there's one thing I see there it's just shameful, pure and simple. Authoritarian takeover disguised as birthright, and I'm sure we had something to do with that level of paranoia here on the Arc[h]ipelago. Not that I don't think it would have happened anyway. Katz just seems unstable to me. I hate that we're not here to dialogue, by the way, I do miss actually having someone to bounce off of. I always feel like I'm rambling (...)

Palace Source: Katz "Angered" By Call In Light Of His Cancellation of the Bay of Ascalzar Exercises As A "Good Will" Sign

The Presidential Palace acknowledged that President Yitzchok Katz was briefed on the voice message by the Shomrim, though it declined to confirm if it received the recording from Latin Intelligence.

"President Katz is extremely disappointed - to say the least - if Mr. Sion's remarks are true," the spokesman announced. "Ever since taking office, the President has taken steps to cool tensions between our Kingdom and the newly declared United Republic of Gran Aligonia, and he even cancelled the Bay of Ascalzar exercises until taking office as a sign of good will. Now, apparently, the interim executive of the islands who is running to stay in the position for a full term has called the president 'unstable.' Sadly, this reflects a continuing trend of Mr. Sion to insult or demean any perceived opponents or threats to his agenda. Mr. Sion should reflect on his words and consider whether saying such things is in the proper demeanor and character of a national executive."

Privately, the president is apparently "livid" and "angered" by the comments, pointing out to his aides and several Cabinet members that he cancelled the Bay of Ascalzar exercises as a genuine sign of good will and that Sion's shots at his mental stability were "absurd."

When reached for a reaction on the whole episode, Andreas Metilius, Provost of the AIR, pointedly declined to comment.

Recording Sheds Light On Growing Latin-Yisraeli Ties Over GA Crisis

The episode is one of many signs of a growing partnership between Latium and Yisrael, formerly enemies until the 1973 Yarden Accords and as of late having cordial but not particularly close ties. The crisis in Gran Aligonia and Yitzchok Katz's election seem to have shaken up the status quo, with both countries (which have executive monarchies) seemingly jolted in light of the anti-royalist, isolationist sentiments of the Sion-led toppling of the absolute monarchy in the isles.

The reported intelligence-sharing comes on the heels of a meeting earlier this month in Castellum ab Alba where FM Ariel Goldblatt and Deputy FM for Periclean Affairs Ezra Ricardo, met with Latin FM Flavius Aemelius on the political crisis in the GA. Whisperings from that high-level summit seem to encourage Sion's fears of a plot by both powers to back his royalist opposition in the upcoming elections, something both governments have refused to comment on or deny.

Sion responds to phone-call leak in effort to address rising tensions

VILLA ROMERA - Gran Aligonia's infant election cycle has only managed to complicate itself further as a leaked call made by Leuter Sion, current Interim Grand Minister, to the President of Mont further ignited various avenues of tension in the new decade's rocky periclean. The call, which outlined Sion's personal fears about potential foreign interference, has been met with both criticism and praise, both domestically and internationally. Chief among the demographics affected by the change were devout non-extremist Fabrians, with popular social society and former knightly order, the Red Lions, declaring their support for Artús Montecalvo after the leak, a rare political move for the Christian charity. With more and more support going to Montelcalvo from the middle-aged Fabrian core of Gran Aligonia's middle class, it appears the election may become more contested in the following months, though it is unpredictable, to say the least, with Sion's current stance and the chaotic nature of the isles as a whole.

Despite facing domestic terrorism and a potentially stronger challenger than he would have hoped for, Sion has remained focused on his geopolitical and international troubles, in what political analysts are calling a "great gamble for the outcome of the election." In response to reports that President Yitzchok Katz had not taken kindly to Sion's private condemnation of his character and mind, and, more specifically, that he had canceled the controversial the Bay of Ascalzar exercises as a sign of goodwill towards the new Republic, Sion had this to say when asked to comment on the call's leak as a whole:

"I find the responses to that leak have been far more...revealing than I ever could have expected. President Katz says he canceled the Bay of Ascalzar exercises because of his supposed "good will". I ask you this, then, President Katz: Why were those even happening in the first place? I recall throwing the words "gunboat diplomacy" around, months ago. How can you possibly think that cutting the length of a questionable exercise short can be seen as good will towards us on Aligonia? That's like planting a bomb and disarming it before it goes off, and then thinking you did a good thing when you're the one that caused the danger to appear in the first place."

Sion denied to comment on the larger geopolitical implications of a potential partnership between the Yisraeli and Latin governments in the Periclean, and as to whether the things he said in the phone call are his true political views. Sion also caught flak from the centrist Democrats and nationalist wings of the AAFT, who have been put off by Mont's socialist-adjacent policy and had long criticized Mont as an equally-culpable part of the Archipelago's current geopolitical situation, as far back as Veremundo's original condemnation of foreign powers, which included Mont as well as Latium and Yisrael. As a free-market classical liberal heading a large coalition, Sion is finding it increasingly harder to maneuver on the international stage, where his potential allies lie some degree farther to the left than him or anyone in the core membership of the AAFT, and his nations' former allies become increasingly wary of a new and larger democratic movement in the Periclean.

Still, Sion's support isn't yet doomed. By advocating balance both politically and philosophically, and recruiting campaign members from across the political center, Sion has created a strong movement more immune to polarization than most of its size. Some Aligonian political analysts have speculated that the AAFT in its current form is far too big of a tent to deliver legitimate structural change to the less-obviously rebranded parts of Aligonian government, and its large nature and attempt at neutrality makes its military policy exceedingly weak, with the Xendarmeria continuing to exist as little more than a police force despite the soon-to-arrive loss of Latin assurances of defense. Resistance within the AAFT towards Sion comes particularly on the issue of diplomacy towards Yisrael and Latin, with the whole party as a whole unified in cold-to-lukewarm reactions to Gran Aligonia's former monarchist allies yet split on the degree of isolation to create between the Archipelago and its former protectors. Sion's moderate wing only advocates what they have been calling "decolonization", the more radical wing of the party, headed by the former Migrant Worker's Union committee leadership, instead advocates hard sanctions in favor of a swing to the left and expanding relations with Mont, Vardana, and others beyond the Periclean.

Report: In Wake of Leaked Sion Call, Political Reality In The GA More 'Volatile,' 'Closely Divided' Than First Thought

YERUSHALAYIM, YISRAEL — Today, King David University just announced the public release of a thirty-page academic report analyzing political conditions in Gran Aligonia since the fall of the absolute monarchy. The report's two authors, Professors Betzalel Caplan and Ephraim Gabay, are both scholars of Periclean political history and current geopolitics. "We were interested, given the scant data and information publicly available coming out of Gran Aligonia, that we investigate the reality on the ground," Caplan said. Added Gabay: "The situation on the islands is more nuanced than public rhetoric and parsimonious news articles suggest."

Independent Poll Sheds Light On State of Current GA Political Contests, Public Sentiment

Before the toppling of the absolute monarchy, given the closed nature of the isles' politics, there were no political pollsters or polling firms on the island. However, an independent pollster Sondaxes Insulares, based in the capital of Villa Romera, had been surveying social data and doing market research for almost three decades. Once the leftist protests started, SI started being hired to conduct polls on the events. By the announcement of the United Republic regime under interim Grand Minister Leuter Sion, SI was not only the single independent pollster based on the island group, but whose data is trusted generally by all sides as nonpartisan and unbiased.

The authors (whose research is partially funded by a grant by the Roth Family Charitable Trust) hired SI to survey the upcoming political races and public sentiment four months after the protests began.

With a sample size of 3,045 registered voters and a margin of error of 5.4%, the SI poll found that:

In a one-on-one election match-up for Chancellor, interim leader and moderate republican Leuter Sion garnered 57% to royalist opponent Duke Artús Montecalvo's 43%,
In the Grand Ministry (legislative) elections, the Royalists are polling at 53%, with Sion's moderate-liberal AAFT faction pulling in 28% and the Socialists at 19%,
Leuter Sion's approval/disapproval rating is 40%/57%, with Montecalvo at 47%/50%, former Prince Veremundo's coming in at 54%/42%, and Bishop-turned-far-left terrorist Hugo Marin holding at a lopsided 17%/69% split,
Among ethnic subgroups, the Royalists dominate almost completely the ethnic or naturalized expatiates of Latin, Yisraeli, and Lihnidosi background, while the Socialists have a lock on Montians, with native Aligonians split about 50%-37% Democrat to Royalist.

Four Factions Predominant Political Scene

Caplan and Gabay's research posited that four "meta" political factions laid claim to Aligonians' allegiances: the Socialist-Left, the unwieldy moderate-liberal Democrats, the moderate "hybrid" Royalists, and the reactionary Royalist hardliners.

The authors interviewed a number of random Aligonians around the capital city, and selected the answers that most represented the factional sentiments they collated (all interviewees were given anonymity). The typical Socialist-Left adherent told the professorial pair that "[Leuter] Sion is weak, he did a good job getting rid of the Prince but he's too close to the old establishment. We need someone like Bishop Marin who's for the people and will burn down the old regime entirely." The average Democrat, e.g. AAFT member, told them that "I like Sion, he doesn't take anybody's excuses and really says what's on his mind." Someone between the Socialists and the mainstream AAFT (typically ethnically Montoise) said that "I think Sion should actually support Mont! You can't stay neutral at a time like this."

On the Royalist side, a typical Montecalvo supporter who would be in the moderate/hybrid Royalist bloc told the researchers that "[t]he Alliance has seen to mistake blind progress for wisdom. Our system wasn't perfect, but this situation is a recipe for disaster," while a Royalist hardliner often told the political scientists something to the effect of "I'd rather the islands sink into the sea than vote for someone like Sion. Viva Montecalvo!"

Delving deeper into the poll's data, one sees that Sion has a high degree of soft support while Montecalvo's support is usually harder and "baked in." Part of his 57% include the Socialist-Left, who tactically embrace him as slightly better to the Royalists. A hypothetical three-way race including a generic (unnamed) Socialist Chancellor candidate sees the race fracture between 14% for the Socialist, 41% for Sion, and 45% for Montecalvo. Sion also has a small sliver of crossover moderate royalist support, at about 10%.

The independent poll used focus groups to poll the smaller ethno-religious groups. By the last census, the Aligonian population breaks down as follows:

Aligonian (84.29%)
Montoise (5.28%)
Yisraeli (4.44%)
Latin (3.31%)
Linhidosi (2.68)

According to the poll and focus groups, ethnic or naturalized expatriate Yisraelis go for Montecalvo by a whooping 97%, quickly followed by the ethnic or naturalized Lihnidosi, who break for Montecalvo at 96%. The Latins follow suit, but at a comparatively pedestrian 89%.

The Montoise go just as hard for Sion, supporting him at 94%. However, this group skews socialist, and most (79%) of its members belong to a left-wing union. If a generic Socialist candidate entered the Chancellor race, this bloc would largely abandon Sion (86%) for the Socialist.

Among the native-born Aligonians, they generally split somewhat close, with about 49% going for Sion and about 37% for Montecalvo.

Concluded Caplan: "While Leuter Sion claims a 'broad mandate', the reality is a little more complicated. As long as he remains 'the democrat candidate,' he'll hold on to the left and center and likely win. However, if a viable socialist emerges, or if Marin's terrorists become more extreme, his support is soft enough that Montecalvo has a chance to overtake him. While in the legislative races, the royalists are so far holding a thin majority, while the republican center and socialist left has fractured among themselves. If Sion wins as Chancellor and the Royalists maintain their poll numbers, we could see a divided government whose political fault-lines are fundamentally different understandings of what Gran Aligonia is and where it ought to go."

President Yolande-Minerve Saverne speaks to the Convention on the Aligonian Crisis

The ongoing Aligonian political crisis has taken another turn. President Saverne was personally embroiled in an incident after she received a voice message from the interim leader of Gran Aligonia, Leuter Sion. The content of the message spoke negatively of the President of Yisrael and the ongoing campaign of repression of the monarchist regime. After the voice message was leaked, Saverne's office was quick to downplay the individual role of the President in this matter. An excerpt from the statement concluded, "The voice message was just that: a message, not a conversation engaging the President and none of its contents represented the views of the Montian government, nor those of the President privately." With regards to the release of the message in the first place, a spokesperson for the Central Intelligence Directorate commented that the leak was under investigation but would not comment specifically on how it occurred or how this personal communiqué came to be intercepted by Latin spies.

All of this comes shortly after Latium had announced its forces would withdraw from the island, raising doubts that the Belisarian nation would make good on its disengagement from the isles.

Today, however, the President made an official address before the Convention of Citizens. Saverne surprised many by beginning with a criticism of the Latin government. The President alleged that the leaking of the message by Latin intelligence agencies to Yisraeli authorities was "legally, politically, and morally dubious". She stated that this action was inappropriate and could only serve to destabilize the region further and subvert the democratic process in Gran Aligonia.

Turning to the Yisraeli government, and President Katz more directly, Saverne had even stronger words:

The Yisraeli president is opposed to democracy, both in Gran Aligonia where a nascent revolution is under attack and within his own country where fundamental principles of equality and justice are being undermined by the unjustifiable encroachment of the state. It is regrettable that Mr. Katz would take advantage of this one indiscretion on the part of a very busy leader to agitate and sabre-rattle. This false concession to attempt to endebt the Aligonians to Yisraeli authoritarians is completely misdirected and utterly shameful. If Mr. Katz rejects the assertion that he is "unstable", it would certainly behoove him to take a more measured approach to international politics.

The President then addressed the situation in Gran Aligonia more directly:

The situation in Gran Aligonia is extremely delicate and the greatest priorities are maintaining the peace and fostering a healthy democracy; goals which are constantly under threat from Latin agents and Yisraeli warhawks. I have spoken with Mr. Sion both prior to the leaked message and since. I know Mr. Sion to be a measured person. Despite our clear political differences, he is acutely aware of the value of a healthy democracy. We must be wary as, following one mere indiscretion, dishonest actors may seek to interfere with a just election and undermine their opposition.

President Saverne concluded her address shortly thereafter and received a standing ovation from the Convention. Following the example of their legislative leader, representatives from the Industrial Liberty Front joined in the applause, indicating unanimous support for the President's positions in the legislature.

[Lihnidos - AD] Hion -Today, during an unscheduled visit to the Hion Naval Academy in Kilkis, the Prime Minister made his first public remarks on the situation in Gran Aligonia and warned against an “anti-monarchist axis” in the Periclean. The comments come after months of political tension within the small Periclean island country that has seen the abolition of the monarchy and the attempted expulsion of foreign military forces.

Speaking to reporters after a tour of the facilities at the Hion Naval Academy, Prime Minister Raptis reiterated the government’s support of Latium’s handling of the situation and praised the Latin government’s “steady hand” and “measured response in such a volatile environment.”

The most significant comments, however, came after a question by one reporter about whether the government was concerned about a new Gran Aligonian government turning to potentially hostile Periclean powers for support. The Prime Minister responded:

”While I understand and support the Gran Aligonian people in their quest for a government that is fully accountable to its constituents, I would caution any new government against turning to questionable foreign powers for support. With the government’s aimed expulsion of friendly foreign military forces and the loss of protection from the Latins, it is only reasonable to assume that a new government will now look elsewhere for support. We would not want the Gran Aligonian people to be unwittingly taken advantage of by governments hostile to Latium or Lihnidos like they believed they were being taken advantage of by the Latins and others. While Lihnidos will do whatever it can to support Gran Aligonia as it goes through a tumultuous transition, we would not be able to stand idly by if Gran Aligonia is used by hostile powers to promote an anti-monarchist axis in the Periclean.”

When pressed on which “hostile powers” he was speaking of, the Prime Minister refused to elaborate, only stating that it should be “very clear” and “shouldn’t take a genius to figure out.”

The Prime Minister’s comments align with reports and official statements that have been released by the Foreign Office and Imperial Palace since the start of the unrest in Gran Aligonia. Raptis, who rarely makes himself available for questioning by reporters, ended the question and answer session after only four questions, with the fourth and final question being the only one about Gran Aligonia. The question comes after a recent leak by Latin or Yisraeli intelligence that purported to show a call from Aligonian Grand Minister Leuter Sion to Montian President Yolande-Minerve Saverne where Grand Minister Sion criticized Yisraeli President Katz and Latin negotiators. The authenticity of the call was later confirmed by statements from Gran Aligonia and Mont.

The Lihnidosi government has long been criticized by more hawkish members of the National Assembly over its handling of the Gran Aligonian crisis, with some saying that Lihnidos should have taken a more active role in supporting Latium in the early stages of the crisis. The government was quick to announce its support for Latium during the early stages of the crisis, however the Foreign Office also dismissed the idea of any Lihnidosi interference in Aligonian internal politics. The government’s apparent deference to Latium on the matter was quick to earn rebukes from many lawmakers and political pundits.

Request for comment from the Imperial Palace about the Prime Minister’s concern of an “anti-monarchist axis” in the Periclean was not immediately returned.

The Thraysian Imperium announces its support for the Gran Aligonian people

Konstantinopolis, Thraysia — The Thraysian Emperor has announced that Thraysia stands with the Gran Aligonians against foreign powers attempting to buy out their nation. This appears to be in line with previous comments from the Imperium over the crisis. Several Thraysian officials have consistently announced sympathy over the struggle of the Gran Aligonians against their island being sold out to foreign business interests. Initially, it had seemed as if Veremundo was the candidate of choice among the Thraysians, though he no longer remains a candidate.

Previously, the Thraysians had praised the expulsion decree of Veremundo, criticizing the actions of Mont, Latium, and Yisrael over their refusal to comply. After all, he was simply doing what was in the best interests for his people against the exploitative forces of Latin gambling moguls and Yisraeli bankers. They have claimed that they were the ones in alignment with the law and had supported Gran Aligonia through their stationing of troops, though it appears suspicious as if their only concern is to preserve the interests of predatory business interests.

As Thraysians, observing foreign politics has has often been difficult for us - if we should bother at all. As the only Orthodox Monarchy remaining in the world, the politics of other countries are far from the ideal we personally believe in as Thraysians. In this matter, however, we see similarities between the plight of the Gran Aligonians and that of the Thraysians in the 19th Century. The leaders of our government at the time were not legitimate but were puppets to foreign interests. The Thraysian commoners suffered the same way many Gran Aligonians do, and the Baron-dominated ruling class had became entrenched, corrupted, and detatched from the people. We see many of these aspects in some old Monarchs of Gran Aligonia, whom stand in sharp contrast to the values of the Thraysians. What good is a Monarchy if the Monarch is an evil? Despite all the disagreements between the values of Gran Aligonians along with their candidates and between that of the Thraysians and our Emperor, we have been through a similar struggle that the Gran Aligonians are going through where they desire leadership that will place the interests of their people above predatory business interests." The old Monarchy had the power to be a benevolent ruler, yet it instead chose to put Latin, Yisraeli, and Mont business interests above their own people.

The remarks by Azad reflects the economic ideals of the Thraysians, favoring protectionism and strong state supervision, along with their troubling history of the 19th Century. With support from Lihnidos and Vardana, the old Baron class overthrew the Thraysian Emperor at the time and placed themselves into power. They established a corrupt oligarchy, where the ruling class grew increasingly detatched and wealthy as the common people suffered. The Thraysians see similarities between the 19th Century Barons and the recent governance of Gran Aligonia.

In addition to the common struggle of Gran Aligonians and 19th Century Thraysians, the Imperium appears to believe that Sion will pacify the dangerous far-left forces that may arise in response to preserving the corrupt status quo. The Emperor has also made it clear that they will not be tolerant of an anti-monarchist pact in the Periclean Sea should they oppose the Thraysian Emperor or provide any support to revive the terroristic Thraysian Republican Front. Additionally, the Emperor has announced it will officially condemn any Gran Aligonian candidate who desires to be the forefront of an anti-monarchial revolution.

Officially, no high official, diplomat, or the Emperor has announced their complete view on the Gran Aligonian crisis. The Emperor has stated the following:

I've iterated multiple times that the position of the Thraysian Imperium is that we sympathize with the struggle of the Gran Aligonians, and that we condemn some recent actions by foreign powers using force against the island to preserve the interests of their predatory corporations. We do not, however, endorse or condemn any candidate running for election. Our position is simply sympathy, not an opinion or a political faction we sympathize with. All of the candidates do have political views that vary with the Thraysian ideal. We don't have any reason to support or condemn any side in this fluctuating situation.

Regardless, a combination of professional analysises and rumours have suggested that Thraysia supports the view of Sion. The alleged position taken by Thraysia has put itself somewhat in alignment with Kiso Pact members on this specific issue, and against the Belisarian monarchies. Often times, Thraysia has been called the "wild card" of geopolitics for being an oddball. Despite being a monarchy, it appears to be quite distinct from the other monarchies of Belisaria - acting as its own completely independent entity. With suggestions of a pro and anti-monarchial pact in the Periclean, it is unclear where exactly Thraysia may find itself in such a situation. While it may sympathize with the pro-monarchial pact to some extent, it is unclear as to whether or not it may become a member.

Directors, Major Candidate Offer Support for Gran Aligonia

Hrazdan: Various members of the Vardanan government have come out in support for common Aligonian men and women since the start of the crisis. Director-General Anastas Barkhudar has often led the charge, offering “any support” to the new Aligonian government in their efforts to “overthrow the oppressive regime of the past” and “the puppet-government propped up” by the Latins. Barkhudar’s comments were echoed by many, who have called on the Latin government to honor Aligonian wishes and withdraw its military units from the island immediately. First Deputy Director Isaac Vorsapetn has warned that “imperialist forces will absolutely”' interfere in Gran Aligonia’s first ever democratic elections, such as Thraysia with its all but explicit endorsement of Grand Minister Sion as the most striking example thus far. Additionally, Director-General Barkhudar stated that he has not yet had any discussions on an “anti-monarchist axis” with any other world leaders.

Nebez Gewirk, chief opposition member within the Directory, has taken it one step further, stating that the “true revolution the Aligonian people desire will not be seen” until Prince Veremundo is overthrown and removed from his role entirely. Gewirk has repeatedly called on the Prince to stand down from his position as interim head of state, citing that Leuter Sion is “far and away the leader the people have chosen” in the crisis. Gewirk’s comments were echoed by Second Deputy Director Lucine Argutian, of the Radical Party, in a rare moment of unity between Gewirk and members of the directorial majority.

For the first time, some politicians have begun to break with Yisrael, a nation long considered a friend of the Vardanan people. Most prominent among them is Second Deputy Director Lucine Argutian, who spoke out against the Yisraeli government’s recent actions, calling them “inflammatory.” In a recent press conference, Argutian highlighted that “a people that themselves have faced adversity and oppression should empathize with the struggle of the average Aligonian citizen and their desire for self-determination.” Argutian, the youngest member of the Directory at 32 years old, attended Woodford Academy for International Students, in Yerushalayim, while her father served as Ambassador to Yisrael from 1994 until 1999.

The ongoing crisis has seen its entrance into the 2020 directorial elections taking place in Bayazet and Corduene, where top candidates have also weighed in with their stance. Most notably the former Paramount Leader, Director and now candidate Arman Boghossian. Boghossian has surged in polling since announcing his candidacy, earning a majority of voter support in most polls for the Bayazet directorial seat. He has denounced imperialist nations, specifically Latium, “who act in only their own self interest.” At a campaign event in Tigranocerta, the second largest city in Bayazet, Boghossian also called out “imperialist hypocrisy” on the part of neighboring Thraysia.

Surprisingly his attacks did not end there, as Boghossian directly called out the Yisraeli government for not only its actions in Aligonia, but also domestically. “To call what is happening in Yisrael a ‘counterrevolution’ is laughable. There was no revolution to speak of, [the Yisraelis] simply seek to make themselves the victim in a situation where they were already in control. All the while they victimize those that stand against the tide of their new wave of conservatism and oppression.” He finished his comments by citing that the new King Hezekiah III has “delusions of grandeur that will no doubt be his, and his family’s downfall.”

As Montecalvo urges caution with Yisrael and Latium, Sion disputes “alarmist” rhetoric, denies seeking any “anti-monarchist axis”

VILLA ROMERA - Gran Aligonia’s ongoing diplomatic crisis has forced foriegn policy into the national spotlight again and again as the small island nation continues to butt heads with larger monarchical powers, like Latium, Yisrael, and Lihnidos, over its recent transformation into a fledgling republic, as well as various statements made by Interim Chancellor/Grand Minister and current AAFT candidate Leuter Sion that were leaked to the press in the last month.

The rising tensions between Yisrael and Gran Aligonia have recently culminated in the Aligonian Ambassador to Yisrael, Pedro de Brito, receiving a formal diplomatic letter of protest targeting Sion for his recent remarks and “disrespectful” behavior; a similar letter was also lodged with Mont's President, Yolande-Minerve Saverne, who had been the recipient of Sion’s leaked call. Though Sion had indicated that he would respond to the letter “as promptly as possible, given the circumstances”, Royalist Party candidate Artús Montecalvo, butted in first, in a bid to broaden his base as he derided the “erosion of polite language” on the isles, in an underhanded jab at Sion’s infamously blunt disposition, which many across the political spectrum have claimed is a chief contributor to the current predicament that Gran Aligonia finds itself in.

Montecalvo went on to endorse “a peaceful and timely defusion” of the situation, advocating a message of Aligonian national unity and “peaceful reintegration into the West Periclean without eroding progress made on the isles”. Montecalvo’s rather vague message still supports cordial and friendly relations with the royalist powers of the West Periclean that Sion has taken a cold stance towards, but it appears that the candidate has tempered his view in the face of the domestic situation on the archipelago, which is dominated by moderates that are generally Republican, though not necessarily leftist. Though not a formal declaration of policy, Montecalvo’s statement about “progress on the isles” has hinted that the former Lord intends to become a legitimate political force in the new republic, not aiming at fully dismantling the system as leaked reports of his statements have indicated in the past. Montecalvo has also recently invested heavily into television and internet advertisers, which have boosted his coalition to within two percentage points of Sion’s AAFT.

The Interim Chancellor himself has continued to gamble on his strong foreign policy stance, interestingly responding to the formal diplomatic letter with a more moderate response than many in his own party expected:

"So this morning, I read a letter sent to me, through our friend Ambassador de Brito, from President Katz of Yisrael, accusing me of disrespectful statements towards their government and his personal life, damaging diplomatic integrity in the Periclean, and, this last one is the one that to me is the most absurd: fostering an Anti-Monarchist axis. We have done no such thing - we have no interest in any sort of alliance at this time, and everyone should be aware of that.

This sentiment is a gestation of the mind of Prime Minister Raptis of Lihnidos, and, frankly, this is alarmist rhetoric which those predisposed to dislike our new government simply for its existence have chosen to run with. Listen to the language: axis. Hard consonants, to paint a devil’s pact, no doubt, in their eyes.

Let me then re-reiterate: Gran Aligonia is not interested in any sort of alliance at this time, and especially, especially not one of a military nature. I’m sure we all agree that the people here on the archipelago have become wary of having a “protector”. We simply demand to be treated as equals on the international stage, instead of pawns. And, unfortunately, the response that we have received is one of denial, of old power pointing at us and saying “get back in the dirt where you belong, where you cause fewer problems."

The Aligonian people cannot do that anymore. We know this. They know this. I would wager that even my adversary Montecalvo will agree that the system that was can never exist again in the way that it existed. This is a time of great reform, and, yes, I have said disrespectful things. Some in private, in ways that are deeply personal, that I would never apply to practical politics here in the Sea, and some that I genuinely, wholeheartedly meant.

Let me reiterate something else in my so-called, let me read this to make sure I get it right: ‘with reckless, impulsive, and disqualifying rhetoric’. That just rolls off the tongue, yes? The lucky strike here is that, no matter how hard he may try, only the people of Gran Aligonia may disqualify me, and I know you all too well already,”

(chuckle)

“Truthfully, my demeanor masks my stress. Katz has gone on to call me a nativist, a neo-isolationist. Let me re-reiterate this as well. Gran Aligonia is not seeking isolation. It is seeking equality, both fundamentally, domestically, and geopolitically. The Aligonian people have made it unanimously clear that they despised the old system of economics, which many, including myself, have called neo-colonialism.

I think that is a more apt description of our grievances. We are willing to negotiate. Veremundo wasn’t willing to negotiate when he asked foreign troops to leave, and I can’t blame him, because the situation of stability was extremely volatile at the time, as we all recall. But the dust of that has slowly begun to settle, and now we must be pragmatic about this situation. President Saverne, my actual dear friend, did call the Yisraeli government oppressive, a regime, etcetera. And perhaps those things are true. But Aligonia, right now, is focused on solving domestic problems, some of which these nations have been the sole cause of. If Yisrael, and Latium, and Lihnidos, et. cetera. were to cease their saber-rattling and agree to our, frankly, common-sense demands, as the Montians already have, then this whole ordeal would have never made it off of the third page of a tabloid. Yet they feel that their system and their status-quo is now in jeopardy, and so they paint Aligonia, the AAFT, and myself out to be boogeymen.

I have been painted as a madman with crazy hair and a hot temper, simply because I believe what I believe. But I am just a man of Aligonia, and the people of this beautiful archipelago are willing to talk - but only on the common-sense condition that our loudest neighbors stop despising us simply for existing in the way that we do. If their alarmist stance holds, then cordiality is, unfortunately, an impossibility.

Sion’s remarks delighted some, including many Aligonians that had become convinced by media reporting that Gran Aligonia was indeed seeking a formal “Anti-Monarchist Axis”, a sentiment which Sion and Director-General Barkhudar of Vardana, despite continued positive sentiments towards Gran Aligonia’s transition, have both agreed was “never discussed”, with the former even outright denying its possibility in the speech.

Sion’s sweeping remarks noted that “Gran Aligonia is not interested in any sort of alliance at this time”, which disappointed many in the left-wing of the AAFT (formerly the Montian Migrant Worker’s Union before its pre-transition merger), yet energized many others, who saw the statement as strategic, dispelling both support from conservative monarchy Thraysia, and potential support from any number of foreign powers on the left that have come out in support of Gran Aligonia, such as Vardana, Ostrozava, and Mont. The speech had a small impact on his electoral polling, offering him +1 point nationally, though many rumors now circulate that Sion, despite his charisma, has become too centrist and indecisive for the left-wing of the AAFT, a position he had already held for months with nonviolent socialists unwilling to support Fabrian-Socialist Bishop Hugo Marin due to his terrorist acts and Valtgean alignment.

Sion notably dodged questions regarding Bishop Marin’s future apprehension following the speech, instead responding with “I can’t comment on an active investigation for fear of impeding it,” leading many to speculate that Marin’s potential capture is imminent, or that new developments have been made in curbing his insurrection.

In the Villa of Villa Romera, other political forces continue to complicate the situation. Though former Prince Veremundo has formally relinquished most of his executive power to the office of Grand Minister until the nation’s first inauguration of a new Chancellor, Nebez Gewirk, opposition leader of Vardana, called for Veremundo to step down, to which the former Prince denied commenting. In South Ottonia, his daughter and fashionista, Catalia Abellán, has reportedly reached out to the new Aligonian government asking for her inheritance and bank account, a sentiment which the new government swiftly denied. Many have speculated that Catalia will weigh in more substantially on her father’s actions and subsequent geopolitical situation soon, leading to her views and name becoming a trending internet search, and many analysts taking interest in her.

Duke Montecalvo has yet to comment on Sion’s speech and ensuing remarks.

President Sabbagh condemns "foreign interlopers" in Gran Aligonia Row

Haqara, Fahran - Amid deepening international tensions over the small island nation of Gran Aligonia, President Mohammed Sabbagh, a famously hard-nosed presence in anti-colonialist circles, threw his weight behind embattled Interim Chancellor Leuter Sion, stopping just short of an open endorsement while praising his colleague's grit and determination in the face of "internal instability" and the "unscrupulous predations of foreign interlopers." The press release punctuated rumors that circulated last week that the president had shared "harsh words" regarding the governments of Yisrael and Lihnidos with Foreign Minister Kamal Yusuf Tirghani al-Mochi and deputies. Sabbagh's remarks mark a departure from the cozy relationship Fahran has enjoyed with monarchist-aligned nations with the exception of Ghant, Latium, and Thraysia over the past two decades, with his stern rebuke of Yisrael in particular coming as a surprise to many analysts and pundits.

Despite the numerous criticisms meted out in his address, Sabbagh took the time to bedgrudgingly praise Latium's withdrawal from Gran Aligonia as a move that respected the country's "sacrosanct right to national sovereignty" and that served to "illuminate a path forward at a time when less level heads are intent on instigating a crisis at the cost of liberty, at the cost of human lives." The president went on to implore Latin leadership to "continue on as friends of peace and stability, with the same good will and mildness shown to all" in what some have interpreted as an implied jab at the unwillinginess of Latium to fully disavow support for the exiled Aydurid pretenders, an issue of contention since the December Intifada toppled the monarchy back in 1996.

In response to claims from Yisrael's Katz and Lihnidos's Raptis, Sabbagh minced few words, calling their insinuation that an anti-monarchist alliance might materialize "preposterous, baseless, and insidious. The matter has never been discussed. On the contrary, the ones who seem most intent on disregarding national sovereignty have always been squarely in the royalist camp. Disrespecting the will of the Aligonian people and the will of the now defunct Aligonian monarchy is more disrespectful than platitudes and words in friendship could ever be. It is an argument rooted in mendacity and hypocrisy. Perhaps our colleagues should take a lesson from the Latins and Thraysians. The world is watching."

Fahrani oil tankers have been unfazed by the war of words that has erupted since Citizen Abellan announced his abdication and continue to pass unimpeded into the Periclean Sea. The government has issued assurances that price controls can and will be implemented in the event of an economic panic in Gran Aligonia to ensure a "humanitarian" outcome.

ONEKAWA STRIKES FIRST, A DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY

An RS-90 Songbird takes flight above the Western Makrian

The worst fears of the peace loving peoples of the Union have come true: the blood addled dogs of Onekawa, no longer content to merely lick their chops and bay for blood, have struck down two RS-90 Songbird fighters. According to anonymous military and political experts, the attack was unprovoked and occurred early in the morning during unusually heavy rains. The Songbirds acted as a patrol to peacefully watch the Onekawan naval exercises, but were pushed slightly off course by the storm. Onekawan craft were in turn quick to capitalize on the affair, destroying two aircraft and leaving four more scrambling.

The onslaught ended only upon the arrival of reinforcements from the mainland. An RS-20 Kurukullā was able to test the new M-19 Sre Mong, a beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile, on a live target. Use of the missile yielded immediate results, totally destroying the older Onekawan craft and forcing an abrupt end to hostilities. The Onekawans, licking their wounds, were forced once again to cower in their ships. Unionite pilots, meanwhile, celebrated their sudden victory. The Kurukullā pilot was awarded the Medal for Socialist Courage for his efforts at securing the borders of the Socialist Fairyland. The wreckage of the two RS-90s were quickly salvaged from the ocean, as were the remains of their pilots, which were promptly given a proper ceremony.

Foreign Minister Rigzin Dharma quickly released this statement to the press:

"The savage cruelty of this act is yet another black mark on the record of a nation beset by them. The capitalist imperialist regime in Onekawa seeks to antagonize the Union into rash action, an ignoble and idiotic goal. In one fell swoop, our the Revolutionary People's Army Air Force was able to easily drive off these swine. The Union will not hesitate to totally annihilate any and all belligerent forces should King Toa seek to brazenly pursue retaliation. I would hope that the royal tyrant takes heed of this, lest the honor of ancient Onekawa be besmirched further."

Air patrols across the Union have been doubled in response to the event, and the Rocket Bureau have been totally mobilized to respond to any incursions into Unionite airspace that might occur. The 1^st and 2^nd Sukti fleets have been fully mobilized as well, continuing to keep the seas safe for Unionite shipping throughout the region. In the Supreme People's Assembly, the Defence Commissioner spoke personally on the importance of the military being able to offer a "swift response to an ever shifting situation", finishing with a request to enable the National Security Powers Act, which would give the Defence Commission unilateral power to commence hostilities, as well as immediate budgetary priority and the authority to call up a general mobilization of the reserves. The measure was hotly debated, though passed in the final hours of the night by 1254-1246 after certain limits, including a hard time table, were mutually agreed to.

Questros Palace, Thessalona. — Announcements and invitations have begun to leave Questros Palace - the seat of royal power in Belfras and the de facto center of government - in regards to the upcoming Ruby Jubilee of Sovereign Prince Nicholaus.

Earlier this morning the royal spokesman for the Dimitrios family, Bromia Falco, announced that the approaching Ruby Jubilee of Sovereign Prince Nicholaus will have a 'remarkable celebration' as the royal is set to celebrate his 40th year on the throne of Belfras. It has been confirmed that his siblings, the Princes Sergios and Thodoris, and the Princess Alexia of Eunos will be in attendance with a separate announcement confirming the attendance of their children expected shortly. The attendance by Prince Sergios comes at a time as he enters his second year of battling lung cancer, and his daughter the Princess Theodora is already expected to attend. It has been confirmed that Prince Christos, whose birthday is on the 7th of the month, will have a quiet celebration in place of a larger event to allow for concentration to focus on the jubilee.

Spokesman Falco also announced that the list of events taking place on the 19th of April will include separate private and public events. At Questros Palace, a dinner and ball for VIPS, royals and national leaders will be attended by the Sovereign Prince Nicholaus and his family personally. Two public events will happen at Emperors Square and Haghan Commons, with the latter also consisting of a concert and Constantine Avenue being the center of the Spring Parade, which has been moved forward from April 20th to line up with events. Classis Thessalona and the historic flagship F.N.S Constantine XIX will be open to public visitations. Pryatt and Sons, a minting company that minted coins for Sovereign Prince Georgio's Ruby Jubilee, have already announced that they will be minting a commemorative Ruby Jubilee coin. If it follows course with his father's event, Nicholaus' Ruby Jubilee coin will be given out to attendees of Questros Palace exclusively. Thessalonan police have already issued a statement stating that parking near these locations will be disallowed starting on March 21st to make room for construction equipment, with Constantine Avenue closing to traffic on the evening of April 17th, the Friday prior to the jubilee.

The Jubilee comes at at time when the Dimitrios family are at a time of change. Nicholaus' second eldest son, Prince George, has recently left the Belfrasian Army following 13 years of service, during which he has been decorated for anti-drug activities in Eunos and for being a part of a unit tasked with assisting Gendarmerie forces in rescuing a stranded school outing in the Eribia Major mountains. The Princess Victoria - The Hereditary Prince Alexander's twin sister - has recently ended a long-term relationship with Frederic von Platt. The Prince George is currently overseeing the nation's response team to the Gran Aligonia crisis and is expected to head the country's attempt to calm tensions as the Periclean crisis unfolds.

The royal family of Belfras, the Dimitrios Family, came into power as a direct result of the independence agreement signed with the Latin Empire in 1895. The agreement came after the Federalisation of the Latin colonies into a singular entity with a constitution structuring imperial rule of the country. In the agreement, which had been heavily worked on since 1870, everything had been worked out to make for an effortless transition of power from Latium to Thessalona, where the Emperor's holiday residence would become the seat of power for the nation. As a mutually agreeable solution to the vacuum of power, the Dimitrios family - Then the Dukes of Patrinos - became the selected inheritors of the country when the agreement was signed in 1895. Five years later, at the turn of the century, the Latin Empire formally abandoned it's positions in the country and the Sovereign Prince Philippos - Nicholaus' great-grandfather - became the head of state and government of the newly formed Belfrasian Federation.

Sovereign Prince Philippos' reign was met with blood and violence very soon after it began. In the west, states began to resist the federalisation of the country, and in the south Mutulese influence began to lay the foundations of the Belfro-Mutulese War of 1911, during which Philippos' son and Nicholaus' grandfather and name-sake, the Hereditary Prince Nicholaus, died during the Landings at Ekab. At the time of his death, Nicholaus' wife Isidorah had very recently discovered her pregnancy with Nicholaus' son, Georgio. Georgio was born in the December of the same year his father died and at the age of 12 became the Sovereign Prince at the death of his grandfather, Philippos. Nicholaus' father, Georgio, would rule for 56 years before his death in 1980.

Political Discord in Drevstran over Gran Aligonia

Angrast, Drevstran — It all started with the public recognition by the Merovret Migraï Bharamut of the new United Republic of Gran Aligonia, following the surprising abdication of Prince Veremundo after weeks of violent protests. Then, the small phrases continued : Palace Mayor Bharamut publicly declared his "respect" for the Prince of Aligonia, considering his actions to be a testament to both the "strength of his values" and his "respect of his people". He then appeared side by side with the Ambassador of Aligonia during various receptions and public meetings, announcing in passing that there was no reason for Drevstran to consider its relations with Gran Aligonia changed, and that changes to the current agreements and treaties between the two countries was "not on the table ; unless our partners wished so in which case it will be done accordingly to the will of both parties."

At first, Bharamut's small phrases had little consequences, beyond giving more details to Drevstran's official position, which had been extremely cut and dry, with only a single declaration and an official meeting with the Gran Aligonia embassy to take care of all minor issues such a change of constitution could generate. The real shock came when the Government published in the National Register that it had agreed to a demand from the United Republic of Gran Aligonia to participate in the track of the "Terrorist-Bishop" Hugo Marin and had lend both men, materials, and finances, for the mission. This led to Simon Smeleres, leader of the Yedviro Party, and long time rival of Mïgrai Bharamut, to question the allocation of public fundings by the Government. His Party already being the Majority of the Parliament, he created a new Commission charged with going back through the National Register, and other public accounts to control all the expenses of the State and note any irregularity.

The feud between Simon Smeleres and Mïgrai Bharamut is a long standing one, as it is the current Merovret's vigorous prosecution that sent the Yedviro leader to prison in 2004 over charges of corruption during his mandate as Mayor of the Palace. Simon Smeleres has since then recovered both his freedom and three millions solidii (that Bharamut was condemned to repay to him over "Defamation" charges), but his party is only now starting to recover from that blow.

Unwilling to let the Opposition's do as it pleased, Bharamut answered positively to the demand of the Commission to testify before the Parliament and explain some of his government's more questionable uses of public money. This is not the first time Bharamut has to participate in such political games, as he had already been accused of corruption and mismanaging public funds after his first mandate. The session was public, and the Merovret was thoroughly questioned by the Assembly. But of course, the questions quickly diverted from purely budgetary matters to Gran Aligonia specifically. Many Parliamentaries notably feared that Bharamut was throwing Drevstran in the middle of a conflict between the Western Monarchies and a loose Socialist coalition, who had apparently selected the island nation as the latest battlefield of their decades old conflict.

To this, the Mevoret answered with the following : "Representatives of Drevstran! A few weeks ago, the people of Gran Aligonia made a choice that was relayed by their political elites: to take back their destiny into their own hands through the way of a more Democratic constitution. It was a brave discussion from both side of the crisis. For the militants in undemocratic regimes, it is always dangerous to make their opinion known, but the circumstances had forced them to such extremes. As for the Prince and his government, they faced the same dilema as many autocracies before them: do the right thing and give up all of their power ? Or try to cling to it as long as possible, through fire and flame, until the problem dissapear or death come as the last arbiter ? Very few had the courage to do what they did, to listen and to act accordingly to their people's wishes. It's on this selfless act that the United Republic was founded, and for this it has our respect and, we must admit, our admiration.

Yet there are forces in the world who only wishes to spit at the face of this bravery. Who saw this lesson of political virtue and couldn't understand it. Saw they re-interpreted the events following what they new, and for them it was clear : a Revolution had happened, a government was toppled, chaos had own. That they lamented or were overjoyed by it, it does not matter. I understand that some of you are scared of what such forces, who can only understand politics as a game of "with us or against us", could do to us if we tried to merely maintain cordial relations with an exemplar country who deserve our praises. But Representatives of Drevstran, this is not a war. This is not even a conflict. It is merely international politics. We, Drevstraneses, have always opposed the idea of simply dividing the world between Monarchism and Socialism, where all countries who call themselves Republics are to be de facto associated with the latter and immediately considered mortal ennemies of the former! We stood up against the dictature of Skolad ! We fought again and again against the so called "Blessed Republic" and its agents ! In our public lives, in our politics, we defend Democracy ! We defend the will of the people ! We oppose those who wish to squash such principles under the pettiness of their views ! Which is what this Bishop and its acts of terrorism are for : he saw peace, he saw a future where all of society was able to live in harmony, and he rejected it. Was it out of frustration of having been sidelined out of an event he thought his ? Was it out of real belief that nothing short of his own ideology could bring good, no matter the obvious costs and sacrifices ? We do not know. What it matters is that it is a danger for a still fragile republic, who hasn't even known its first election, and its out of basic virtue, as this very same republic just taught us, and decency, that I agreed to join our modest forces to their own, to allow Gran Aligonia to remain itself, as its people willed it to be. There will be no troops, no military presence. This is only a police operation to catch a criminal and an enemy of his own people. That is all, thank you."

Questioning continued thereafter, but the atmosphere inside the assembly had changed. Once the Mayor of the Palace had left, the Parliament voted to maintain the Commission, so it could finish its work in case any actual case of mishandling of public funds was found. In the meantime, no action in justice would be taken against the Mevoret. But this incident clearly showed how in this third mandate that began just last year, the longest-running Mevoret of Drevstran might be at his weakest, with an assembly ready to scrutinize and critcize him on his every move. Any failure from Mïgrai Bharamut's part could very much mark the end of his political carrier, after 10 years as head of the government and of the state.

REDSTARR EXPANDS PRODUCTION AFTER RISE IN INTERNATIONAL SALES

Tsangpo - Jheng SPR On Monday, the Redstarr Corporation, in conjunction with the Bureau of Industrial Planning and the Ministry of Economy, announced plans to begin an immediate expansion of domestic production. The news comes after negotiations in the Supreme People's Assembly over the 18^th Five Year Plan have concluded with an immediate infusion of ten million labor-hours for construction or expansion of manufacturing facilities, as well as a W17 million woolong loan to expand the company's ability to sell and ship abroad. This marks a continuing trend of trailblazing for the electronics giant, which is now well on its way to challenging to establishing a respectable share of the international market.

The expansion plan also necessarily calls for the employment of an additional two thousand workers, to be split between the central manufacturing hub in Tsangpo and a new plant in an outer suburb of the city. The latter facility is scheduled to begin production this Friday, as many of workers the Manufacturing Worker's Union Local 35, which had to sign on additional four hundred apprentices to meet demand, are undergoing training. The newly minted plant was constructed in a period of just 3 weeks and contains an entirely modern and highly automated production line. Production was around the clock, with laborers workers six hour shifts to complete the project nearly a week ahead of schedule.

The Redstarr Corporation was first founded in 1980 to handle production of consumer electronic goods in the Union, which at the time was a small niche in a Unionite economy dominated by heavy industry and resource extraction. At the time, the nation was known better for its tractors and cement than for consumer goods, which did not receive priority in economic planning. However, following the reforms of the early eighties and the expansion of the national intranet to civilian use, and as Unionites became increasingly digitally connected, greater emphasis was put on leisure goods and, especially after 1990, electronics. With an ever increasing share of the budget, Redstarr was able to ceaselessly expand both production and research & development. By 2000, computers were in every home in the Union, and the company was able to secure sizable share of the market in Ochran and beyond.

The Redstarr Corporation is the third largest cooperative in the Union, and one of the largest and most successful in the world. Despite its fierce commitment to sustainable growth and its workers having democratic control of its productive forces, it has been able to stand shoulder to shoulder with many of world's greatest capitalist firms. Today, it represents a large portion of the Union's exports, and as the world becomes ever more digitized and connected, will likely continue to play a central role in our beloved Socialist Fairyland's status as a stable and prosperous nation. Redstarr's employees celebrated the fortuitous expansion with a vote to give workers bonuses company wide.

TENZIN LOTSAWA WINS WBC TITLE, BECOMES UNIFIED CHAMPION

Tikron Dek - Norok SPR History was made in the Revolutionary Martyr Arena last night when Tenzin Lotsawa defeated Lut Ciller, foreign born former WBC champion, in the 6^th round. Commentators and fans alike were left dazzled by Comrade Lotsawa's furious showing that left his opponent crumpled. Comrade Ciller, who was the heavy favorite to win the bout after winning by decision in their previous bout last November, seemed to have no trouble in the first few rounds. Though Lotsawa landed several textbook shots in the opening round, he was left staggered by an uppercut that connected with his jaw. The second round went no less in Ciller's favor, with the man, who favors a heavy brawler style, again striking Lotsawa's jaw.

But the tides seemed to turn in the fourth round when Lotsawa opened up a small cut over Ciller's left brow. Though his corner made a valiant effort to close it, Cilller appeared to struggle to keep the blood out of his left eye, which noticeably cost him as the fight progressed. However, despite the reversal of fortunes, Ciller continued to push aggressively through the round. But in the last ten seconds of the round, his elite footing failed him as Lotsawa expertly feinted. He was left flat on his back after a vicious overhand right connected with his jaw. However, not known for his faintness of heart, Ciller rose after the eight count. The two fighters appeared to be near their limits as their corner men treated them.

The fifth round went similarly, with Lotsawa's expertly technical footwork chipping away at a rampaging Ciller. The champion attempted to wait out the round in the clinch, though his challenger was able to create enough space to hammer him with multiple uppercuts. It was the latter half of the fifth round that Ciller's defense seemed to truly collapse, as he was lit up with blow after blow. Spectators across the planet thought that things might end that very round when Ciller was staggered by a crushing hook to the ribs. However, before Lotsawa could press the advantage, the round ended. The sixth round saw the culmination of the night's events, with Lotsawa landing his signature overhand right directly onto Ciller's jaw, sending the WBC champion sprawling across the mat. Lotsawa grinned proudly as the WBC championship belt was awarded to him, making him only the second bantamweight to unify all three of the Union's belts.

Tenzin Lotsawa first began boxing at the age of twelve, when his parents entered him into a training program as an outlet for his behavioral issues. He showed an immediate talent for the sport, going on to win multiple regional Golden Gloves competitions across the Union. When he became an adult, Lotsawa chose not to defer his mandatory two year national service, and spent his term of conscription as a tank gunner in the 3^rd Guards Motor Rifle Division. Afterwards, he began to study sports medicine at the University of Kalapa, graduating in 2017. In 2018, he would go on to win the Union Boxing League Junior Bantamweight title, and in 2019 the Gold Boxing Association title. When reached for comment on what his next move was, Comrade Lotsawa had this to say:

"Now that I'm the real champ, I expect I'll be getting a lot of challengers. While I don't have any fights booked right now, I'm gonna be training hard all the same."

Emperor responds following Sidona terrorist attack

Castellum: The recent terrorist attack at Sidora Naval Base was met with swift response from Latin officials. Initial Latin intelligence reports pointed to former Archbishop of Sidora Hugo Marin and supporters as the perpetrators of the attack. And it was only hours later that the Emperor spoke from the Palatine Hill shortly following news of the attack. “This attack against Latin servicemen and women cannot and will not go unanswered. For nearly seventy years, Latin men and women have stood by our Aligonian brothers in defense of their homeland following their righteous liberation. It is as friends that I say we have no quarrel with the Aligonian people.”

The Emperor spoke for nearly twenty minutes, and went on to say that, “We cannot ignore the circumstances under which this radical cell has been able to fester. We will investigate, we will work with the Aligonian government in doing so, and these radicals will be dealt with swiftly, and justly, so that they may never harm another soul again.” Initial reports from the attack place the death toll among Latin service members at between 6 to 10, with at least an additional 17 wounded. Ambassador from Gran Aligonia, Valentin Deras, has been summoned to the Palace of Augustus.

Immediately following the Emperor’s address, a series of press releases were issued by the government laying out a number of policies from governmental bureaus. The Legal Bureau announced that the pending asylum request from Aligonian nobleman Duke Alexandre del Villar has not yet been processed and remains under review by authorities. A spokesperson from the Legal Bureau has stated that the request will remain pending “until such a time it is clear that [del Villar] will receive a fair trial.” Duke del Villar remains in Latium under supervision of Latin authorities.

Similarly, Master of Soldiers Flavius Vipsanius briefly responded to questions following the terrorist attack. Vispanius indicated that the attack could potentially delay the withdrawal of Latin forces from Sidora, but did not provide a timetable. “We are doing everything in our ability to continue with the planned withdrawal,” he told members of the press. He also announced heightened security at Sidora Naval Base and the embassy, per a request from the Foreign Bureau which has since recalled all non-essential embassy personnel. Additionally, there have been reports from sources that at least two Imperial navy frigates are being deployed to Sidona Naval Base or the surrounding area.

Consul Alexander Pompilius, who has largely been silent on the Aligonian crisis, told members of the press outside of the Curia Claudia today. He stated that he had recently spoken with Aligonian Grand Minister Sion following the attack, and had asked Sion to “cease any future xenophobic rhetoric” to ensure stability and calm heads through this crisis. When pushed by reporters whether this was an accusation of blame for the attack towards Sion, Pompilius rejected the assertion. However, he again urged the Grand Minister to acquiesce to the Emperor’s request for a Latin-led investigation.

YERUSHALAYIM, YISRAEL — Responding to yesterday's brazen daytime attack on the Latin military base at Sidora, Gran Aligonia, Foreign Minister Ariel Goldblatt told the foreign affairs reporter pool this morning at a press conference that "Yisrael stands with the victims of this heinous attack - the people of Latium and Gran Aligonia," going on to offer condolences to the families of those lost. Latin intelligence released initial reports pinning the attack on the far-left terrorist and former Fabrian Archbishop Hugo Marin and his terror group. Between 6 and 10 Latin service members are believed dead, with 17 injured. At least 4 Aligonian Xendarmes were also reported dead, with countless civilians injured, according to local GA hospital sources.

The Latin Emperor, Constantine XX, addressed Latium in a live-address from Palatine Hill, where he urged quick cooperation between Latin and Aligonian authorities to investigate and track down the Marin network to deliver justice for those killed. Latin Consul Alexander Pompilius told the press that the interim Grand Minister of the GA, Leuter Sion, needed to "cease any further xenophobic rhetoric" so as to rapidly find and bring Marin to justice.

Goldblatt: GA Should Acquiesce To Latin Requests

Foreign Minister Goldblatt supported those calls from Latium, saying that "this terror attack on the Latin base in Sidora was unacceptable and a catalyst for more pain and tension in the Periclean region. Given the losses the Latins suffered as well as the location and target of the attack, the Gran Aligonian government should without delay quickly cooperate with a Latin-led investigation, who I have full confidence will ferret out Marin and his band of terrorists and bring swift justice for the fallen at Sidora."

He paused, adding: "Of all the times to date since the beginning of the GA Crisis, it would do well for Mr. Sion to listen and accept the Latins' outstretched hand with graciousness and good faith, and not be divisive and engage in more xenophobic attacks and accusations as he has being doing for months, catering to his domestic political base for his country's upcoming election. Dozens of Aligonians are dead, including four of his own Xendarmeria, and dozens of Latin military personnel are dead or injured. Now is the time for cooperation, not rancor."

Sion moves to work with "international community" to capture Marin; again disputes Western Monarchies' "circular argument".

VILLA ROMERA - Amid the fallout of terrorist and excommunicated Archbishop Hugo Marin's bombing of Sidora Naval Base, which resulted in almost twenty deaths, the interim Gran Aligonian government has been swift to respond to the attack after some initial hesitation, with the office of the Chancellor releasing a public memorandum on the 18th that "Hugo Marin has been considered a dangerous terrorist for the entire existence of the United Republic, and the government of Gran Aligonia strongly condemns all of his actions, and has been continuing to work to apprehend him."

Interim Chancellor Leuter Sion, who had been struggling in polls for the young republic's first election against a more moderate candidate in the form of former Duke Artús Montecalvo, finally managed to energize his often-divided center-left base in a small Chancellorial address, released on the afternoon of the 18th.

Greetings again to the people of Gran Aligonia, and any and all who are concerned for the stability of the region in a time such as this,

The dastardly attack from Hugo Marin has proven to us that radical ideology makes a fine crucible for violence, and now many of us, Aligonian and Latin alike, lie dead or critically injured. I have, repeatedly, and especially now as a result of this particularly volatile situation that Marin has caused, offered my full assurances to the Latin government that we are doing all we can to combat the threat. I even received statements of support from the Emperor himself, who told the world, and us, that they "have no quarrel with the Aligonian people", yet, "cannot ignore the circumstances under which this radical cell has been able to fester." I have indeed been notified that Latin security forces are on their way to help the Xendarmeria in their quest to detain Marin.

To those of you just tuning in, perhaps this statement will come with a sigh of relief. "We have a common enemy!" you'd say, and my impulse is this as well. For, at its most fundamental, the statement is true. Authoritarian socialism has no place in Gran Aligonia, nor in the vast lands of the Western Monarchies. However, when put into context, these statements have raised my eyebrows, and have raised many others as well. It does do well to be cautious in a time like this, and I am sure even my staunchest political rivals would agree with that particular platitude. Marin, who is indeed a criminal and a monster in all but appearance, has well-known and well-publicized motives for attacking the base in Sidora: he, like many of us, has taken a distaste for the presence of foreign troops, and undue influence of foreign interests over domestic workers and managers alike. But unlike the majority of morally sound Aligonian citizens, he has radicalized himself into a position of believing violence to be the only possible solution to this grievance.

I, along with all of us sane citizens, disagree, but cannot fail to keep these initial causes, the initial "circumstances" in which Marin's "radical cell has been able to fester", out of our considerations. I have been told that I should be worried, for example, that the Latin Empire has seen fit to send two warships to the naval base that they are supposed to be evacuating, and which was recently bombed because of how controversial the very presence of said troops has become since the dawn of the 21st century. But, I am not worried. Cautious, maybe, but it does do well to be cautious, yes?

I have instructed Director-General Segarra to allow a select number of Latin investigators to join the Xendarmeria in attempting to apprehend Marin; however, the people of Gran Aligonia will not condone this attack being used for the unwelcome encroachment of foreign soft power. I have repeatedly been called xenophobic for promoting that narrative, and it seems to be the go-to circular argument for those unable or unwilling to understand the complexity of the situation on these islands. I say this; once the tumultuous and unfortunately tense time of decolonization ends, Gran Aligonia will, of course, be open to sustained economic and diplomatic cooperation with all of the Western Monarchies, albeit on an equal and not subservient basis. There are other factors in play, of course, but both my countryman Montecalvo and I agree, surely, that this level of tension, while perhaps a necessary byproduct of our archipelago's newfound assertiveness, is in no way supposed to be a permanent fixture of the West Periclean. I urge us all to keep level heads through this and to not let ourselves be ruled so easily by vitriol, in whatever form it may take.

It is man's first higher impulse to be free. Thus, in the interest of protecting and bolstering our own counter-terrorism capabilities, we have invited several specialists from Drevstran to the Archipelago, so that they may train our previously-babysat Xendarmeria to become a full-fledged defense and information force. We continue to create ties with many nations that the Principality of yore had little-to-no contact with, and we hope that through our efforts, we can build a friendlier and safer world for us all. Some of these Drevstranese specialists will also be joining the task force to hunt down Marin, and it can be expected that we will enlist many more members of the international continuity in our quest to be free of violence and radicalism.

Domestically, Sion's speech received overwhelming support from across the center, but disappointed those on the fringes, with the left condemning Sion for what has generally been described in leftist circles of the AAFT as "appeasement", while Duke Montecalvo, with the collective opinions of the Aligonian right speaking through him, stated that "Sion has no reason to continue to add an asterisk to every offer of genuine friendship offered by the Western Monarchies. There is a way out of tax-havenism that doesn't involve spitting in the faces of some of our oldest friends, and inviting morally questionable strangers to assist in a critical time such as this." Sion has enjoyed a boost in the polls, but it remains to be seen whether the fluctuation is permanent or an outlier.

The Lusty Aligonian Maid

Greetings Nibbler readers! Boy, do we have some exciting things to tell you about in this most recent edition! As always, we examine closely a recent development in our world and break it down to the underground. This latest hot take may be our hottest yet, as we delve into the current state of the small nation of Gran Aligonia.

Make no mistake, Gran Aligonia is a nice country. It’s a small island in the Periclean Sea, located between Belisaria and Scipia, full of beaches, succulent fruits and some killer Spring Break parties. Now, could you imagine that a small country would be the focal point of international politics? How the fuck does that happen? Why should anyone care about Gran Aligonia and what’s going on there?

This edition of the Nibbler is going to tell you everything you need to know about why it’s all going down. Why the so called “Western Monarchies” want in there so bad, and no, we’re not talking about the actual country. We’re talking about their women, especially the lusty Aligonian maids. But first, here’s a little background for you.

The Story of Mr. X

Mr. X was just another average thirty year old Ghantish man who worked a boring ass office job and lived in an average urban apartment here in Ghish. He was visibly nervous about hiring an erotic maid online, but she immediately put him at ease, chatting with him for thirty minutes before heading into the bathroom to change. Mr. X stripped down to his shirt, and she came out in “one of those latex sexy maid outfits.” She got to work cleaning while he watched and took care of himself.

This what men want. We got science to back it up.

Mr. X hired her again. During their second session, she encouraged Mr. X to grind against her while she was bent over cleaning, dry-humping her until he was finished, then she left. She returned for more jobs, and soon, she and Mr. X became something like friends. The dry-humping turned into straight-up sex. During the last “cleaning session” he hit it from the back while she did the dishes, and he thought about how he’d never see her again after that. “It’s still a wonderful memory,” Mr. X tells us, fifteen years later.

Mr. X isn’t alone in his attraction to hiring a naked woman to clean for him. The industry, however, has evolved from shady websites made in the 90s. Today, some independent housekeepers list their nude-cleaning affinity on professional websites, while in Ghant alone there’s Professional Pipe Cleaning Maids, Maid For You, Just a Little Dirty and White Spot Maids — not to mention the Lusty Aligonian Maids (more on them later). FWIW: Our offices have never been cleaner.

So what is it about janitorial work that turns on guys like Mr. X?

According to Amaya Arduga, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Ghish who specializes in sex therapy, “There are a lot of reasons someone might find this kind of service sexually appealing: Perhaps the power dynamic is sexually attractive, maybe they have a particular fetish or kink that revolves around aspects of the scenario like the clothing, the act of cleaning, the belief that this is some kind of role play, etc.,” she explains.

For his part, Mr. X was after something new. At the time, he says, he’d occasionally experimented with other types of sex workers, and “even though it seemed like this wasn’t going to involve touching or intercourse, it was something different, so I gave it a try.”

Interestingly, he didn’t really care so much for the sexy maid outfit. However, that outfit can be a force for men who have similar fantasies. Jacob Lalumanda, author of “The Science of Sex: The Facts of Fetish and Fantasy,” tells me that 48 percent of the 4,000 Ghantish men he surveyed for his book had fantasized about specific uniforms, and 4 percent of those people specifically mentioned maid uniforms. “Uniform fantasies can be viewed as a form of clothing fetishism and likely stem from previous learning experiences in which one forms an association between a specific uniform and sexual arousal,” he explains. “For example, it’s not uncommon to see attractive women wearing skimpy maid costumes in the movies and on TV, which might lay the groundwork for straight men to think of maids as sexy.”

He adds, “Uniforms and costumes also might be a way that people seek to act out BDSM desires because [they] can be symbols of power or status, or a lack thereof.”

This seems to be the case for Mr. X, since the submissive act of role play eventually turned into full-on intercourse during which both parties totally ignored each other. “I only ever had sex with her from behind and while she was cleaning. And when [we did], it was almost like neither of us acknowledged it was happening,” he says. “We’d be having a conversation and we’d start doing it and she’d continue to clean as though nothing out of the ordinary was going on.” Only once the sex picked up, would she stop cleaning. For instance: Mr. X recalls a time when she was scrubbing the shower, but once he started “pounding hard,” she stopped cleaning and “bent forward more so she could support herself against the far wall until I finished.”

Per Lalumanda, “When you hire someone to do a job, there’s an exchange of power that occurs — and the term used often in BDSM dominant/submissive relationships to describe something like [this] is called ‘service submission.’ It describes a [consensual, pre-negotiated] relationship dynamic where submissives are asked to contribute resources to the dominant partner, provide for some of their needs or advance their dominant’s goals.”

“I suspect if there were an anthropologist present, they would say [sexualizing maids] goes back to slavery, ruling people and the eroticization of class inequality,” Lana Ragusa, author of “The Adventures of a Sex Maid,” told us. We floated the idea that hiring a sexy cleaning service is a little easier to swallow (no pun intended) than hiring a sex worker. “I called a naked house cleaning service” sounds a lot more gentle than “I called a prostitute,” we would argue. Perhaps this is why, over time, Mr. X found he was “more interested in the sexual aspect of our relationship than the cleaning,” adding that he “once suggested regular sex on [his] bed, but she shot that down. So somehow, this was part of the fantasy for her, too, and I was fine with that.”

In the end, his specific fantasy was more about the taboo, secretive nature of the experience. “Here was a nice, normal girl who went about her daily life and none of her friends had any idea that she was putting on an erotic maid uniform and letting some guy have sex with her while she cleaned his apartment,” Mr. X explains. “Doing something in private that everybody else may disapprove of is fun, and since it’s completely consensual, there’s no harm in it.”

Eventually, Mr. X’s erotic maid moved away. Today, he says he’s interested in finding another — but only for the taboo sex. Because when it came to scrubbing the floors, he was usually on his own. “She was a mediocre cleaner,” he admits. That said: “I was a single guy at the time and really didn’t care about having a spotless apartment.” Plus, he was mainly concerned that she take care of his dirty mind.

So, having told little story of ours, the next question is: where you can find dominant, power-hungry men with repressed sexuality, secret fetishes, a desire for exotic erotic encounters and the means to hire female servants? If you guessed "the Western Monarchies" then you would be correct!

The Western Monarchies

In ancient civilizations, powerful men solidified their power as monarchs, often justifying their rule by claiming that their God ordained it, and that all of that God’s worshipers should acknowledge the king. That sounds all fine and dandy, but the truth is, men seek power in order to acquire women. It’s just a fact of live. Look at rock stars, for instance. Their music, their way of life, it’s all about sex.

Sex and Power have been linked since ancient times.

The western monarchies inherited this system from the ancient world, and if you’ve read our past articles on the monarchs of Belisaria, then you’d know that they covet exotic women in order to spread their infernal, inbred gene pools. It’s also a power dynamic, because servants are bound to serve these monarchs in any way the monarch demands, and the monarch, fueled by a desire to exert their power, use it to sexualize the servants. It’s a story as old as time, whether that be Popes and Latin Emperors with boys, Kings with peasant mistresses, Eastern Emperors with Harems and the Emperor of Ghant with foreign princesses. Eventually it becomes like a drug, an addiction to the feeling. The feeling that one has the power to do it, leaving one wanting more and more. That's why unless these horndogs are stopped, they'll just keep going.

Of course, women from their own countries simply aren’t good enough. No, the western monarchs need something more exotic, but something that they can easily grasp. Women that are beautiful, yet quaint. Exotic, yet familiar. Distant, yet accessible. This is where Gran Aligonia enters the picture. Small countries like Gran Aligonia have to specialize in something in order to make themselves viable, whether that’s oil, bananas or potassium. In the case of Gran Aligonia, it’s maids, especially maids of a lusty variety, or so their reputation goes.

The Struggle in Gran Aligonia

Many wars have been fought throughout history over women, and who gets to hit it. These stories are common throughout the world, and can be found in great works such as the Bible and various Ghantish and Latin mythologies of note. It was only a matter of time before the Aligonians decided to cut off the western monarchies from their greatest resource- lusty Aligonian maids. In essence, Gran Aligonia decided that it didn't want to be a "submissive" anymore.

Think about it like this- how many western monarchies had a troop presence in Gran Aligonia at one time or another? Yisrael, Latium, etc. and they weren’t interested in leaving. All those soldiers and officers with unlimited access to lusty Aligonian maids, why would they? They were basically living next to a buffet of exotic poon, and like anyone who eats at a buffet every day, they had grown fat and accustomed to the bountiful harvest.

Leuter Sion was the Aligonian who decided that “enough is enough, lusty Aligonian maids are for Aligonians!” Naturally, the western monarchies didn’t like this, and for the past several months there’s been a lot of back and forth between Sion and his rivals in the west. Shit, we can’t even keep track of all of it, we just know that the western monarchies are mad that they’re getting cockblocked by a local who has the balls to say “these are our women, not yours.”

Defiance vs. Deference

What women want. Notice how "western monarchies" isn't listed.

Democracy is all about the people deciding what is in their best interests and exercising self-agency over their own lives. Gran Aligonia has made the decision to go this route, and has told the western monarchies that their women are off limits, that they will be the masters of their own fate, not the inbred oligarchs who presume to rule from their carved wooden chairs. A dominant must always have a submissive, and if not Gran Aligonia, then who? Finding a new one is a hell of a lot harder than keeping the one you already have, and since when have the western monarchies been willing to work for anything?

Women, like men, want the same basic shit in life. Freedom, the right to choose, agency, etc. Western monarchies aren’t about that life, or at least not the ones that are still fucking around with Gran Aligonia. For them it’s about power, dominance, and keeping people underneath them (both literally and figuratively). We doubt anyone in the western monarchies actually gives a shit about Gran Aligonia. What they actually care about is having their superiority acknowledged, being able to do as they please, and not being told no. Gran Aligonia had the balls to do that, and now the western monarchies are pissed. Shit, where are the western monarchies going to get their maids from now? Oxidentale? Good luck, they’ll eat your heart out (literally that’s what happens, go look it up).

In Conclusion

What do you mean I can’t have
anymore Lusty Aligonian Maids?

Ghant isn’t a western monarchy. We don’t have any trouble getting what we need right here in Ghant, and unlike some countries (sorry Gran Aligonia) we’ve never had much of a problem in keeping our muffin shops local for Ghantish clientele to enjoy. Sure, who wouldn’t like a lusty Aligonian maid every once in a while? That’s a privilege though, a rare treat, and one that people should have to earn, not be given a blank check for.

So yeah, Gran Aligonia, you tell those western monarchies, “enough is enough.” Don’t let them run through your lusty Aligonian maids like a marathon of the Adventures of Ghantboy. They will never be satisfied as long you as you tell them no, because they don’t like being told no. Maybe eventually they’ll get over it. Maybe not, but fuck em right? Oh and remember all you western monarchies, Mr. Xs and power / dominant types, you just got Nibbled!

In Aftermath of Latin Base Attack, GA Authorities Use Crisis To Harass, Intimidate Foreign Nationals, Drawing International Outcry

YERUSHALAYIM, YISRAEL — In another move signaling a continued deeping impasse between the provisional republican authorities on the island chain of Gran Aligonia and leading Western Monarchies of the Periclean region, including Latium, Yisrael, and Lihnidos, numerous eyewitness and media reports have poured in just days after the terrorist bombing of the Latin military base in the GA that the administration of Leuter Sion has launched a campaign of systemic harassment, intimidation, and arbitary economc theft in the form of legally-dubious 'fines' on foreign nationals living, working, and visiting the Periclean isles. In particular, Yisraelis, Lihnidosi, and some remaining Latins appear to be the top targets.

After months of a war of words with West Periclean leaders, Mr. Sion was presented with an opportunity to cooperate amid the tragedy of the Sidora base attack. However, the interim Grand Minister instead dug his heels in deeper, accepting calls for Latin assistance in investigating the terrorist and former Bishop Hugo Marin but at the same time suggesting Latium and others' presence on GA was the cause of Marin's attack.

Aligonian Government Institutes Martial Law, National Security Statute, But Uses Those Measures To Target West Periclean Nationals Rather Than Terrorists

A day after the base attack, the Yisraeli Embassy in Villa Romera started getting panicked calls and complaints: Yisraelis with travel visas or foreign permanent resident cards were being demanded to "show their papers" to Aligonian Xendarmes at will. Paramilitary checkpoints were setup across the capital city and beyond, and at each, Yisraeli tourists and business travelers suddenly had to produce IDs. Some even were demanded to pay 'fines' for no discernible reason.

"I was going back to my hotel with my family from a trip to the beach," recounted Yehuda Miller, 35, via phone from his hotel in Villa Romera, "Suddenly, our rental car was flagged over by a police officer. We were obeying all the speed laws. The officer asked for my ID and that of my wife - and my children's. When I told him our children's were at the hotel, he got agitated and started interrogating me about our reasons being in the country. The officer didn't seem to believe me that we were just vacationing. He gave me a citation - a fine of about $180 shekels - for not having our children's passports! I was in disbelief. When we got back to the hotel room, I called the embassy and they assured me I couldn't be cited like that."

Bina Zukerman, 18, on a trip with some friends from their seminary high school, told the Dispatch (also by phone) that she and some friends were walking downtown, looking at shops, when two Xendarmes approached them and demanded their IDs. "No one had asked me for my passport since the airport," Zukerman said, still frightened from the experience a day later, "the two cops came up and after one of our friends didn't have her passport on her, starting making vulgar sexual jokes about us and threatening to arrest us! After we promised to go back to our hotel, they decided to let us go. We are seriously considering cutting our trip short and going home."

And this is a common story in the last four days or so since the new restrictive measures targeting foreign nationals have gone into affect. The Foreign Ministry released this statement in response:

"The Government of Yisrael thoroughly condemns this blatant campaign of harassment, intimidation, and economic theft from foreign nationals, especially our own Yisraeli citizens visiting or living there, as well as Latin nationals and Lihnidosi. Mr. Sion's dangerous xenophobic rhetoric has transformed from worrisome words to actual deeds. Our embassy has been inundated with reports from concerned citizens indicating a widespread campaign of on-the-spot ID checks, arbitrary and random fines for walking in public, incendiary and in some cases vulgar or threatening comments by some Aligonian Xendarmes towards our citizens, as well as random restrictions imposed without public notice or any legitimate rationale given.

"We understand any remaining Latin as well as many Lihnidosi citizens have reported the same treatment to their governments. Mr. Sion needs to stop bashing foreigners to score domestic political points with his political base. This behavior grows tiresome and President Katz has exhausted his patience. Yisrael is actively considering a number of options in response to this outrageous breach of the rule of law, including economic and diplomatic sanctions and other methods."

International Community Joins In Rebuff To GA, Criticizing The Harassment Campaign

Prime Minister of Ghant, Nymun Izarbegiratzeak, known for his international human-rights campaigns, cautioned Gran Aligonia against "undue discrimination" against foreign citizens which could lead to "harassment and acts of violence."

The Belfrasian Prime Minister's office issued a condemnation, saying: "These measures are wholly unnecessary, an invasion of basic free will and, we condemn it as the same form of tyranny that Gran Aligonia continues to insist it is being subjected to." A spokesman said that the GA ambassador to Belfras has been summoned to explain his nation's actions against foreign nationals.

The Lihnidosi government released a statement echoing the statement released by the Yisraeli government. Agathe Pachis, Secretary of State for Foreign and Belisarian Affair, said that such acts "would not be tolerated," continuing to state that "[m]istreatment of Lihnidosi citizens visiting and working in the GA by Mr. Sion's security forces is violating centuries of peaceful coexistence between our peoples."

The Latin Foreign Bureau, when inquired, replied "no comment." Later, a spokesman indicated the Latin government would release their own statement shortly, after publishing time.
