Pretty soon many of the association football-playing nations of NS Sports will be thinking about their CAF, or Campeonato, or Copa: it's the Big Three's regional championship time, and you're not invited...

The IAC-OC is pleased to open sign-ups for the ninth installment of the tournament for those footballing nations who are not eligible for the Big Three championships (AO, Rushmore and Esportiva). They can be puppets of big three nations as long as they are based outside the regions.

HOSTING
IAC-9 is open for host applications. Single or joint host applications are welcome, from users who have experience in hosting competitions of this scale. Bidders must be signed up for the present competition and users behind the nation must have competed in one of the previous installments, even if under a different flag. Host bids should be posted in this thread and include the usual details including methodology, formulae, and indicative scheduling - please read guidance on expectations for format and scorination further down this post. A vote will be organised if more than one bid is received, and in this case it is likely signed up nations with at least one previous user entry will be eligible to vote.

Currently we have one host bid: HUElavia

SIGN-UP RULES FOR IAC-9

ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY
Any nation that is not a resident of the Big Three sporting regions - AO, Rushmore & Esportiva - at the time of this post may sign up to compete in the IAC. You may have been resident there in the past and may have competed in their international tournaments previously. You may plan to move to the sporting regions in the future and participation in this tournament does not preclude that, although it would be considered extremely bad manners to do so at the time of participation. Note, even if you've participated in the IAC in the past, you cannot participate with us if you're currently residing in a Big Three region, especially if you've signed up for their tournament.

The Independents Cup is not, of course, a WCC-sanctioned tournament, and while it uses official WCC rankings it has no impact on those rankings. Nations that have participated in WCs and nations that have not are both welcome to compete in the IAC, by signing up in this thread.

PUPPETS
Puppets of main nations resident in the Big Three are still eligible to compete in the IAC provided the puppets themselves are not resident in the Big Three, and it is permissible to create puppets just to take part here - all eligible nations are welcome. Puppets should be declared for transparency.

Previous entrants may enter two nations into the IAC provided they meet eligibility criteria. This means any user who competed and RPed (roster + minimum 1 post) in the last edition of the Independents Cup (it doesn't have to be the nation they are signing up to the IAC with). When entering two nations, please declare puppet status.

Everyone else may enter one nation to this tournament.

FORMAT & SCHEDULE
Precise arrangements will be confirmed by the host once selected and as the numbers become clear, but the guide for prospective hosts will be for a group stage of 3/4 games dependent on group size followed by a knockout bracket from 16 qualifying nations. Hosts will decide on a cap, with puppets taken out of the draw first if sign-ups exceed this at their discretion if necessary, last in first out.

The timetable will likely run in tandem with the Big Three championships; precise dates to be confirmed and dependent on the rate of sign-ups, taking cue from the other tournaments. I advise hosts to plan 48 hours between each cut-off to allow good time for RPing.

SCORINATION
The tournament will be scorinated using the host's preferred method which will be confirmed in due course. WCC ranks will be used to provide a general continuity within NS football, but RP bonus amounts must be sizeable enough to potentially allow new and consistently high quality RPers a good shot at the title: see unranked Veldgouwen's run to the final in the first edition.

SIGN-UP & DISCUSSION
Sign up in this thread to participate in the ninth edition of the IAC. Questions and clarifications welcome. Please remember to declare puppets.

This post confirms Drawkland's sign-up.

Heck Fricking Yes

I am also prepared to bid to host again if we want to bring back our "defending champs host" tradition. I know I hosted last time so I'll post a bid later but it would be very similar to the format for IAC 8. (In all the ways that went well, at least. Totally different from all the not-so-good parts.)

Technically no, since you don't roster/RP in IAC-8. However, I am in charge, so I could modify that rule since I know you've been active in the past.

For now, I'll say the answer is no. If we're short on numbers or something, then I think we could allow it.

If the numbers require it and a main account isn't signing up to fill up the numbers, then I guess I could put Al Qurijia into this. But for no I'm sticking with your no.

HUElavia IAC 9 Host Bid

Every cycle, nations across NS Sport compete for different regional cups: The Copa, The Campeonato, and The Cup. Although, these are exclusive to the members of the Sporting Regions. What does that leave for nations outside these regions? The Independent Associations Championship. This tournament brings some surprising results, going from Unranked Veldgouwen making the Final for the First IAC Tournament to HUElavia's "Cinderella Run" from 2 losses in the opening 2 matches of the Group Stage to finishing 2nd Place in IAC 8.

With this Prelude, HUElavia bids to host IAC 9.

IC Information:
HUElavia is a massive country that is 1.2 Million Square Kilometers in size and has a population of over 530 Million HUElavians. English, Portuguese, and Spanish are the official languages of the country, along with other regional languages being recognized by the government. HUElavia bids as a way to follow up the successful run in the last cycle of tournaments, after finishing 2nd Place in IAC 8 and making it to their inaugural World Cup in WC84, as HUElavia was eliminated on tiebreakers after finishing tied at 6 points with Farfadillis and Banija. Not to mention, the U18 team had massive success after finishing 3rd Place in the Sporting World Cup 10.

The main formats of the group stage will be the following-
24 Teams- 6 Groups of 4 Teams, Top 2 of each group and the 4 best 3rd Placed teams advance.
28 Teams- 7 Groups of 4 Teams, Top 2 of each group and the 2 best 3rd Placed teams advance.
30 Teams- 6 groups of 5 Teams, Top 2 of each group and the 4 best 3rd Placed teams advance.
32 Teams- 8 Groups of 4 Teams, Top 2 of each group advance.

The tiebreakers will be as follows: Points, Head-to-Head result, Goal difference, Goals scored, Goals conceded, coin flip.

12 Venues across HUElavia will be used for the tournament, and there will be a fully written match schedule with venues and cities, along with a viewable map for participants to see.

Each matchday will have a song corresponding to it, which will serve as the "Official Soundtrack" for IAC 9.

OOC Info:
Experience: I have hosted a one-off tournament called the Unity Cup, and I have hosted the NS Futsal World Cup I. I also run a domestic football league that is updated constantly, which 5 seasons have been completed. I feel comfortable with the scorinator, how to give the RP bonuses and the grading process for the RPs.

Scorination: Using the latest version of Xkoranate, the NSFS Formula will be used along with additive style modifiers. Home-Field Advantage will be off but I will give a small bonus in exchange for this. Also, an RP bonus will be given to any of the participating teams that post a roster for the tournament. The current KPB rankings, Post WC84, will be used for the tournament. Should my nation make the knockout rounds, I will request a third-party scorination for my nation's matches.

Schedule: Since I have obligations outside of NS, I will be doing the cutoffs during 2-3 PM US Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5), and the time between cutoffs/matches will be 2 days. I would like to start the tournament on a Monday, have the Group Stage end on Friday, Round-of-16 is played on a Sunday, and Quarter-Finals will be on a Tuesday. Since I have obligations for Thursday, the Semi-Finals will be played on Friday, 3rd Place Match will be on Saturday, and The Final on Sunday.

Solid bid! Just a couple questions:

HUElavia wrote:The current KPB rankings, Post WC84, will be used for the tournament.

Will you be following the trend of the previous IAC's by not awarding a nation their KPB rank until they post a roster?

HUElavia wrote:Schedule: Since I have obligations outside of NS, I will be doing the cutoffs during 2-3 PM US Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5), and the time between cutoffs/matches will be 2 days.

Just to be clear, does this mean that there will be 48 hours between cutoffs or 72 hours?

With regards to the first question, I will not put the KPB rank until a nation submits their squad. It wouldn't be fair for a bigger team to just coast to a deep run while a smaller team that has been RPing suffers an early elimination.

With the second question. The cutoffs will be at roughly 48 hours. As an example, if I post the results at 2 PM on Monday, expect the next matchday's results to be posted at 2 PM on Wednesday.
