As the state religion, Roman Catholicism receives special protection in law, and attacks against it are punished severely.

The following are all serious crimes:

• Defaming, scandalizing or insulting the Roman Catholic Church and its officials (up to 5 years in prison)
• Defaming, scandalizing or insulting God, Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, angels and saints (up to 5 years in prison)
• Not showing proper respect for sacred places and objects (up to 2 years in prison)
• Publishing opinions contrary to Biblical truths and Catholic teachings (up to death or life imprisonment)
• Offending the religious and moral beliefs of Catholic Christians (up to 2 years in prison)

Certain Provinces/States/Regions etc have blasphemy laws, but there are no national restrictions:

The only Province in the NAU that have nominally active blasphemy laws is Jamaica, based on provincial libel and slander laws and local common law, though the provincial parliament has voted to recommend changes to the law though no action has taken place in the last decade to change the law. Nominally there are fines and restrictions for committing blasphemy, though provincial courts are reluctant to take on such cases.

Antigua and Barbuda of the Leeward Islands Province, St. Lucia of the Windward Islands Province, and Trinidad and Tobago have anti-blasphemy laws but are not enforced.

There is freedom of religion and speech guaranteed at the general-level and provincial-level constitutions.

No blasphemy law at all—it was abolished this year.

Long version

Alzatia formerly had a little-known law called "vilification of religion", but it was never enforced in the current century. This long-unused law only resurfaced again this year, when a teacher was charged under this law for a post he made on social media, calling the Koran a "book of the devil". The prosecution was highly unpopular and criticized by the Alzatian public, prompting Grand Duchess Veroniek to abolish this and other outdated laws from the penal code.

Desecration of a Protected Religion is a crime, punishable by fines. It extends protection to the two major branches of Christianity in Tarvelia: Orthodoxy and Lutheranism.

Blasphemy is legal, although the Catholic Church frowns upon it. And given they hold much power in The Free Imperial City of Aachen, not many do it.

Blasphemy is punishable by up to life imprisonment or a flogging.

Many of the people of Meikaii actively blaspheme seeing as state-sponsored atheism is the standard. It's common for pundits to refer to the religious as the 'idiotic masses' or 'easily duped,' our leader actively denounces all religion, and a religious tariff exists for goods imported and exported from and to religious nations.

Blasphemy is illegal of course and punishable differently, dependent on the kind of blasphemy and how far it goes: It can either be punished by a fine or you can get a prison sentence up to several years. In each case you're also obliged to go to Confession then. If you refuse, you're expelled from the Kingdom of Terabithya. Not blasphemy itself but related crimes may be punishable by death.

Blasphemy is illegal in the Republic of Suldoz. For offences such as the inappropriate portrayal of the prophets or degrading the faith, one can land a sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment.

It is illegal to blaspheme our worshipful pantheon of glorious leaders. Punishments have ranged from imprisonment to death, and those related to the offender have often been subject to imprisonment, as well.

Blasphemy is seen as a very minor misdemeanor in Valentine Z, but as always, there will only be stern talking to, and at worst, a fine.

Valentine Z is ultimately secular, with everyone free to practice their own religions (including not believing in any, i.e. Atheism). But there is a limit - Those that went out of their way to disrespect, offend, or discriminate ANY of the religions or the belief of others (even including Atheism, i.e. insults towards Atheists) will be given this stern talking to, like that poor kid that got the short end of the stick for not doing his homework.

* Of note is that not believing in God / Gods / Deities, or academically disputing and debating the existence of God / of a religion, is NOT considered blasphemy in the nation.

Burning books is also a no-no, in combination with VZ's belief of "Study and dispute / dissect it academically, NOT burn a book", and this encompasses all kinds of books, including religious ones.

There aren't any blasphemy laws in the Flux Empire of the Auto-Reds, as it is considered an unnecessary infringement on one of the Sefeiuntistic Freedoms (speech). Some forms of speech are limited, for example deliberately calling for violence, discrimination or abuse of people, including those of a particular religion. However, insulting or attacking the religion itself is perfectly fine, and this includes damaging or defiling religious items that you own.

There ain't no blasphemy laws in good ol' Skyhooked since the revolution, and any attempts to pass one would be thwarted by the Council and Overboss. No violence or something... they will be just deemed unconstitutional.

[The Rapture Republic]

There are no blasphemy laws in the Rapture Republic. It is encouraged that Aquarians visiting a nation to violate their blasphemy laws to justify a casus belli against that theocracy and expand Rapture’s influence in the region after the theocracy is crushed beneath the Rapture jackboot.

There are no laws within the Britannian justice system that explicitly punished or forbids blasphemy. Blasphemy laws are considered petty and unworthy of consideration or protection, even amongst the Irish population of Britannia (though this view is backed largely by the non-religious Irish rather than the die-hard catholics.) The only thing that could potentially be classed as a blasphemy law are the protections against libel and slander of the state church, though mere criticism isn’t at all punished.

So in short the New Britannian State maintains no official laws against blasphemy.

Despite being a Christian fundamentalist nation, there are no state/legal repercussions for Taking the Lord's Name In Vain. Not only do blasphemy laws not exist, they are specifically forbidden in the TS Constitution.

Furthermore, TurtleShroom's government does not issue any religious test or require belief in a religion (or lack thereof) to serve for office. However, the government can and does require government officials to abstain from Taking the Lord's Name In Vain. Unbelievers are also asked not to do so, even though they reject the idea of the Judeo-Christian God. Repeated use can lead to dismissal. Private employers have a right to fire anyone for any reason, including blasphemy.

That said, a famous saying in TurtleShroom is "GOD WILL NOT BE MOCKED". Blasphemy is hated in TS, and society, not the government, can punish it as needed.

As freedom of speech is protected in the Aurevbushan Constitution, blasphemy laws are virtually nonexistent at the now. While 7 states mention the Word of God being inviolable in their individual constitutions, it is not heavily enforced to this day.

The Empire recognizes universal freedom of speech, however; the Empire is also a caesaropapal theocracy with recognized blasphemy laws... that haven't been enforced in over a thousand years. Make of that what you will. The official penalty for breaking those laws, however unenforced is as with most Imperial Laws, a fine.

The Republic of Strahcoin is a secular state, and blasphemy is protected under free speech, so there are No blasphemy laws here.

[Spiritual Republic of Caryton]

Caryton has a unique situation and does not fit into any category, but deserves its own: Blasphemy is not explicitly illegal but there are severe non-legal consequences.

The Church and State in Caryton are not separate. Any account of unrepented blasphemy is seen as apostasy, and punishable by excommunication. In a state where the Gospel Church of Caryton directly oversees national affairs, and over 85% of citizens are members, it is obvious that excommunication means being socially ousted and shunned. This affects everything from family ties to job applications and even hinders your chances of running for local office due to the offender's rampant unpopularity. One does not lose their rights on paper, but in practice life for them is made extremely difficult until they either repent or leave the province, as communities are extremely close-knit. If blasphemy is made on a national scale, a fine dependent on severity is given alongside excommunication. If extreme blasphemy or threats to act on blasphemy are given, such as death threats or mentions of destabilizing the church by any means, a 6-year prison sentence is given alongside probation for the rest of their life until they either repent or make the actions up with sufficient community service.

Religion and other free thinking is banned in Apiary One. That said, the Honeybee Doctrine (Apiary One's economic and political ideology) is worshipped as the state cult, and opponents of it tend to disappear.
