The West Pacific denounces the attempted subversion of The North Pacific by The Confederation of Corrupt Dictators.

We have a long tradition of strongly supporting regional sovereignty and of being anti-fascist. This action, if it had been much better executed and had remained undiscovered, would have allowed an outside power to subvert the will of the people of TNP and allowed a region with fascist associations to take control.

The West Pacific offers congratulations to the North Pacific in discovering and derailing this plot.

February Results

The first elections under the revised Manners resulted in historic voter turnout. While the overall percentage of voters dipped, more members of the Hall of Nations voted than ever before in the Manners Era.

TWP's revised election cycle was reduced from two week-long phases to a single round. The available position were also trimmed to include only the Speaker of the Hall, and Deputy Ministers of Cultural Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and World Assembly & Recruitment. Elected positions continue to serve 3 months terms at the Delegate's discretion. For more information about TWP's meritocracy, please see the Manners of Governance or ask us here or on the RMB.

The platforms posted by each candidate can be seen on our forums after becoming a TWP citizen. Deeper coverage can be found in next month's issue of The West Pacifican, publishing March 6th!

Festival of the Three Perfections!

All friends of The West Pacific are cordially invited to join in the Second Annual Festival of the Three Perfections! This is an arts festival and competition, bringing together people from across NS and centered around the Three Perfections of Poetry, Art, and Writing. While awards will be given by our judging panel, the true goal of this festival is to foster the creative energies of NS in an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy the presence of others.

The festival will run from Feb. 23-Mar. 1, with submissions open to all NSers from the 24th to the 29th and awards on the 1st. You can submit as many works as you would like in as many categories as you like, the only limit is your creativity!

World Autism Awareness Day is on Thursday, April 2nd.

Many of us in NS are either on the spectrum or have people dear to us who are. The West Pacific will present a series of postings, events and discussions every Thursday of April in recognition of these great people.
Elegarth and I have been tasked with forming a small planning committee and were wondering if a couple of NSers who are on the spectrum would like to help us out.
How can we, two neurotypicals, put this on without you!

I can neither confirm nor deny a reason for fear prior to an event occuring that showed the fear was justified.

TWP has just held a poll to select a language for our new Coronolingo event, where we'll spend time during quarantine learning a new language. Thanks to all who weighed in! We were equally excited to see Welsh and Swahili dominate. The latter won the day, but if this goes well then Welsh will be the next language we work on.

Our Goal: To have a regional conversation in Swahili on May 1, 2020.

How This Works: We'll be using the Duolingo app for this project. It's free and easy to use. Participants are encourage to do the lessons at whatever pace suits their schedules, get together for social study groups on Discord, and use what they learn with participating region mates.

This Sounds Like School: Shut up and get to work. TWP is a meritocracy and you're supposed to be socially distancing and self-isolating. What else you gonna do for a month?

Hail Badger! Hail Sensor!

Our dear Big Bad Badger has been brilliant in his role as our Minister of WAR. Not only did he redefine the position, but he showed the entire region what a devoted and dynamic minister can accomplish. We thank him for not only answering the call to serve, but doing so with such enthusiasm.

We're pleased to announce Sensorland is hereby elevated to the rank of Minister of WAR. Sensor has been a steadfast and hardworking presence in TWP this past year. From CA to Today in the West to Regional Guides, he's done it all and has done it well. Congratulations!

Nieubasria is named Acting Deputy for the remainder of Sensor's elected term.

Badger will continue to serve TWP as Guardian of the West and Administrative Liaison.
