Tension grows between nations in some of the world’s most vital trade nodes, as rivals and allies argue over a variety of issues ranging from petty to catastrophic. Whatever may be the reasons for conflict, all these conflicts may prove to threaten the global economic and political balance.

Following the death of Kulumbian journalist, Saara al-Qaysar, in the nation of Vicario; the people of Al-Kulumbia are in outrage! Reporting on the rise of a middle-rank officer known as Felix Ruzilio; she would suddenly find herself sleeping with the fishes. In response, a denouncement of Vicario from the nation of Al-Kulumbiah. Not long after, is a mutual embargo; threatening global trade all simply because of one life.

On the other side of the world, in Southeast Asia; the Great Sultanate of Bruneian Malaya prepares itself for a war long awaited. Forces gather at the Thai-Malayan Border in Sumatra, as tensions between the nations that have for centuries called each other allies increase drastically. In North Malaya, pressure overwhelms the Sultanate of Sulu, as Bruneian Malaya attempts to pressure what they had once called their closest ally into diplomatic annexation.

As the friction grows between all these different nations grow, one might wonder the extent these conflicts may escalate to. The formation of loose, unlikely alliances against greater enemies; the breaking of once ancient unbreakable friendships, the birth of nations, the fall of empires, and the rise of powers. The Mega War.

Albaira, Vicario
On their feet, the men of the Vicarian Congress sang their country’s unofficial anthem. After the proud song concluded, they took their seats.

“Today’s first topic… I believe you’ve all heard the news,” announced the freshly-appointed Prime Minister. “Following the unfortunate assassination of a Kulumbian journalist staying in Amalya, Al-Kulumbiah has issued a denouncement of our country.”

“It’s time for a federal investigation,” a senator said.

Another remembered his loyalties and swiftly intervened. “That isn’t our first priority,” he said. “What matters for now is how we respond to Al-Kulumbiah.”

The senate was divided on the response. Ideas of diplomatic diffusion, radio silence, and aggressive response clashed until the latter one out with the idea that Vicario ought to puff out its chest and make a name for itself as a new country. The Kulumbian government thus received a response which denounced the acts of prejudice committed within the nation under Shariah law.

In the end, the idea of investigating the assassination was pushed further down the line at every turn. The senate overlooked one key thing, as well, that being military reform..

Al-Banama, Al-Kulumbiah
Image

An aggressive rally gathers right outside the Grand Vizier’s palace, chanting harshly and aggressively in protest and demand. Their noise quells out the traffic and everything else, and soldiers struggle to keep them in check.

“Justice for Saara! Avenge our sister! Death to all who oppress the Ummah! Death to those who insult Al-Kulumbiah! Death to Vicario!” chanted the crowd, in reference to a journalist who died reporting in Vicario.

“They are right, you know.” says Defense Minister, Vizier Asqar Hussein, standing across the Grand Vizier in his office in the palace. “We can’t let them get away with this.”

“We won’t.” replies the head of the state and government of Al-Kulumbiah. He signs a number of papers on his table, and proceeds to meet the crowd before announcing a speech; declaring that Vicario will not get away with this. As the capital of Al-Kulumbiah is founded upon a thin patch of land connecting the two Americas, it has made it easy for them to build the Al-Banama Canal to allow easier passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Now, they controlled this valuable trade node; and had the ability to deny countries the right to pass through it. Thus came the order, that Vicario would be denied entry through the Albanama Canal; essentially killing their Pacific trade.

This was the Kulumbian response. Threatening the Vicarian economy to force them to compensate Al-Kulumbia and apologize.

Albaira, Vicario
Vicario was highly uninterested in compensating the Kulumbians. Its economy was not in a place to be giving things away to people and the last thing the government wanted to do was bow down to anyways even if it risked war which was the sole thing the government was formed to prevent.

Regardless, an outraged Vicarian government responded by closing off all Vicarian territorial waters and ports to Kulumbian trade, which meant that the Lesser Antilles now formed a barrier that forced Kulumbian routes through the Atlantic to take a detour through the Caribbean, then go around them and go south around Vicario just to reach the Mediterranean or Europe. In the end, Kulumbian cargo ships would find their Atlantic trips about 600 nautical miles longer.

Al-Banama, Al-Kulumbiah
All the viziers were gathered in a room, and Grand Vizier Badri el-Greiss sat in the center in front of a table. The fans churned as they rotated, providing the room ventilation in its silence. Not one person moved, and not one person spoke. The door opened, and in came a small man carrying a pen and paper; before laying it out on the Grand Vizier’s table and leaving.

“Are you are about this?” asked the Culture Minister.

“I don’t like asking help from our former colonizers either,” the Trade Minister stated; “But do we really have a choice? If any of this continues, our mercantile economy will collapse.”

“Maybe if we wait long enough, they’ll break first.” suggested the Diplomatic Relations Minister. “We’re blocking them off from Pacific Trade as well.”

“I don’t think we can afford to take that bet,” complained the Economic Minister. “We have to make sure they break first.”

“We just need to intimidate them, is all;” clarified the Defense Minister. “But as of now, we don’t have the military power to do any of that. We’ll need help.”

“The caliphate will come to our aid.” Badri thus, began to write upon the paper. A letter addressed to Caliph Muhammad Uthman, leader of Cairene Arabia; requesting military aid to intimidate Vicario into submission.

Qahira, Cairene Arabia
The Khalifa was in his office when the letter arrived. Indeed, was it his duty as caliph; to defend the entirety of the Ummah when they requested aid. But he received many requests for aid, and Al-Kulumbiah was a former colony that had revolted against Cairene Arabia. Revolted, against the caliphate. They would be kaffir by some standards, but it seems now that they once more need to rely on the Khilafa.

Al-Kulumbiah was indeed, a valuable trading partner despite their rebelliousness. Truly, the Al-Banama Canal has proven invaluable to the Islamic World, almost as invaluable as the Al-Suayz Canal. And the Vicarian insults towards Islam and Shariah had to be considered as well. It was indeed troubling.

Thus, did the Khalifa make his decision and send out his orders to his viziers.

The Atlantic Ocean
A task force of a battleship, a carrier, and ten destroyers detached from the Atlantic Fleet of Cairene Arabia; and sailed onwards to the seas southeast of Vicario, in hopes of intimidating them into submission. Not every country could afford battleships or carriers, and thus this was a grand display of strength meant to intimidate. Were Vicario not even to surrender, it would surely catch the attention of other nations. A power such as Cairene Arabia, threatening Vicario with powerful capital ships and their escort of ten destroyers. The task force was led by Mustaba Bestari, who was actually from Bruneian Malaya; but served in the Arabian Fleet thanks to a certain program.

Image

It was no exaggeration to say that the Vicarian Republican Navy was somewhat underwhelming. Its ships were older and as a whole its navy was not as big as it should be. Regardless, the Vicarian navy took up the challenge, sending a group to patrol Vicarian waters around the state of Vicario. The fleet was composed of two battlecruisers and 5 destroyers. Hidden underneath, however, was a trio of attack submarines.

Tuning into a more open frequency, the commander of the ship group aboard one of the cruisers poke, brushing up on his best English in hopes that they could understand. “This is Admiral Emanuel Silva of the RBC Diamantia speaking. You are trespassing in Vicarian waters, I repeat you are trespassing in Vicarian waters. You must leave with haste,” he chanted.

“This is Rear Admiral Mustaba Bestari of the BKI Muhammad V speaking; we are outside the coastal territory of Vicario. We are not trespassing, over.”

“Negatory. The Vicarian state owns a 300 mile claim on waters, over,” replied Admiral Silva.

“Negative. The Islamic World does not recognize your claim, these are international waters, over.”

Emanuel disregarded the rebuttal. “You are trespassing in the eyes of the Republic, over,” he simply stated.

The rear admiral contemplated course of action. His junior officers suggested moving outside their 300 mile claim, but he found the 300 mile claim absurd for such a pathetic country as Vicario. “Negative. We have our orders and these are international waters.”

There was silence on the other side of the radio. About a minute later, there were a few distant flashes of light followed by a loud clap several seconds later. There were no splashes or struck hulls, however.

“Vicarian navy has opened fire. I repeat, Vicarian navy has opened fire, over.” the comms of the Islamic Navy went insane, as the destroyers stretched and scattered around the flagships.

“Return fire, and deploy aircraft to establish air superiority!” the rear admiral commanded.

Immediately, fighters deployed from the aircraft carrier; as the battleship moved into position to open fire. Its eighteen inch shells locked and loaded, aimed precisely at the battlecruisers. The battleship was slower than the battlecruisers, and had to make sure to land its shots before they could perform evasive maneuvers. Swiftly and without warning, the eighteen inch shells of two of the largest cannons opened fire; and would come in hot upon the battlecruisers. Each destroyer fired torpedoes without warning, intended to strike the enemy before they could even take the time to respond.

Image

The shells came before the sound. Most did not hit, but the meaning they carried was sufficient. A few shells struck well, and immediately the entire Vicarian fleet was ordered to retreat. The destroyers fired off their own torpedoes, but two found themselves hit by the enemy's own; one sustained a damaged propulsion system. Off to the flanks, the three submarines surfaced and fired a shotgun-like barrage of torpedoes before beginning their retreating resubmersion.

A number of destroyers were hit, and three were forced to retreat for repairs. Not expecting submarines, the task force retreated as well; hoping to regroup with the Atlantic Fleet for a greater attack. There was no doubt any longer. This was war.

Albaira, Vicario
A well-dressed man sat in a cafe with his nose embedded into a newspaper. A waitress, dressed as the era expected of her, approached.

“Your coffee, sir,” she said.

“Thank you,” the man replied, immediately taking a sip. As he lowered his drink, he saw the reflection of another man enter in his drink. “I’ve been waiting.

“My apologies, Mr. Ruzilio,” said the newcomer. “What of the news?”

“I’m concerned as to Vicario’s readiness for war, as well as what their allies can do. I need the Congress to have the Armed Forces Committee look into reforms,” replied Ruzilio.

The newcomer jotted that down. “What specifically are you looking for?”

“Let’s see…”

Minutes later, on his way out of the cafe, Felix Ruzilio passed a man who handed him a note, informing him of the circumstances. There was no doubt that war was inevitable; he had to move quick, efficiently, and slide in all the gears he needed without endangering his country further.

"No more," the man growled to himself. "No more."

Elsewhere in Albaira, Vicario
Congress very quickly received the news of the battle and hastily re-entered session. A report of the incident and the damages as well as damage to the enemy was read to start.

"We can't go to war! Our military is in shambles!" one Senator cried. "Think of the people!"

"Do think of the people! Think of their dignity and their economy!" quipped another. "Our army is just fine!"

One of Mr. Ruzilio's loyal senators stood. "Absolutely not. While I agree that we cannot submit, our army is not ready for war. Reform is absolutely necessary!" said another, eliciting a chatter of controversy.

The Prime Minister cupped his chin. "Reform.. all in favor? Aye?" Several hands were raised and counted. "Nay?" Even more hands were raised.

"There's simply no time to wait," the PM continued. "Let us speak of war, now.." And for the next few hours, the Republican Congress became a place of chaos.

May peace be upon you, of great leaders of Asia! I am the leader of a proud nation with a proud history, and see that we share that in common. Among the things we also share in common, are similar goals and enemies.

The vile Theravada of Ayuthayya have long held the rightfully Malay provinces of North Sumatra and Ligor, and thus do I seek to liberate these Muslim provinces from their grasp. However, as fate may have it, Bruneian Malaya’s treacherous former ally Dai Viet would much rather side with the heinous Ayuthayyans. In Japan and Hindustan, shall we find new allies; greater in strength than Ayuthayya and Dai Viet ever would be.

If your excellencies agree to this proposal, kindly write me back. I would love to cooperate with you to our best extent.

It has been a dream of the Hindu Matribhume for millennia to retake the great temple of Angkor Wat and remove the Theravada menace from poisoning the holy lands. Our dreams of Akhand Bharat will not be complete without the land East of Bengal, a land containing countless historical Hindu sites.

As such, we will join Bruneian Malaya in their righteous crusade against Ayuthayya and the Theravada menace. Bless the divine.

East Bengal State, Hindustan
Countless Hindustani troops, many of those fresh from fighting against the British in the revolution, were gathered in the Eastern Bengal state. Forces gathered out of sight, in the mountains and dense jungles of the Burmese Mountains, waiting for the right time to strike Ayuthayya. Specialized jungle divisions were needed for this operation, but the landscape was a two sided coin. Hindustan’s side of the border contained the extremely fertile Ganges Delta, one of the most densely populated regions of the world, while the immediate Ayuthayyan side contained sparsely populated mountainous jungle. Thanks to paratrooper divisions, the jungle was not particularly difficult to advance through, and supply lines were no problem as one of the most fertile regions of the country was right across the border on the Hindustani side.

Greetings from the Grand Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Our War Council has noted that Malayan support will be of great assistance to our cause in battle. We intend to catch our prey while it looks away, and so, a carrier fleet will be sent to the Western Coast of Luzon in a mock invasion and a destroyer fleet will be sent to Vigan City in Luzon to give a sense of illusion to the Dai Viet Navy. It is at this point that we would request convoys to be escorted to Takao City, Formosa (Kaohsiung) by the destroyer fleet and set on a course to Hainan afterwards. Indeed, our diversion will be mobilization and two birds are hit by one stone. We request your approval before performing such actions.

Glory to our nations!

Your plan has been noted, and approved by the Great Sultan and the Grand Admiral. A portion of the Malayan fleet will be stationed nearby the Japanese fleets, and right before the invasion breaks out; fireworks are planned to be fired in order to feign battle and conflict to Dai Viet staying nearby, who will then flee back to their homeland in fear and report that a battle is ongoing between the Malayans and the Japanese. Then, Malayan mechanized cavalry and infantry units will be loaded onto troop ships to be escorted by your fleets to the Dai Viet coast.

Takao City, Formosa
The approval of the Bruneian Malaya’s leadership had set the course for the war plan masterfully created by Admiral Yamamoto. Indeed, the Japanese fleets had already been sent out to their respective positions in the South China Sea and the Malayan Expeditionary Fleet is sailing to the City of Vigan for the Malayan convoys. From the lands of the North, the Mainland Armies are set to arrive in the port of Taihoku City to be sent to the Dai Viet front. The sound of the Koto and Taiko can be heard as the Japanese War Machine mobilizes once more.

Kota Batu, Borneo
Buildings soar through the sky with white walls and almost golden roofs, as they find themselves with an architectural style inspired from Indian, Middle-Eastern, and Chinese styles. Trees blend in perfectly with the city, as islands of them go through most major roads and a railway system provides the capital of Bruneian Malaya with a complex transportation system. Of utmost importance however, was the residence and office of the Great Sultan of Bruneian Malaya. Surrounded by greenery, the Great Sultan’s Istana rests upon the river; itself made of white walls and Islamic architecture, with tiled rooves that match those found in East Asian architecture; and domes as golden as the sun.

Haji Farid, in his old age; walks through his garden, admiring nature as it passes, his family with his 4th wife accompanying him. Suddenly, does arrive a royal guard right before them. He stands up straight with his heels closed together and feet open at forty five degree angles, as he salutes the Great Sultan with his finger touching the tip of his own eyeglasses.

He hands the Sultan an envelope before leaving, and upon opening it; the Great Sultan looks through several papers. And indeed, he smiles; knowing that his dreams and his predecessors’ imperial dreams are nearing fruition.

Sulu, North Malaya
Image

For centuries, Brunei and Sulu had been the closest of allies in Malaya. Sulu had helped the former conquer Malaya, and Brunei had helped Sulu conquer the Visayan and Luzonite kingdoms. It thus could be said, that neither would be here today without the other. However, as the Great Sultanate of Bruneian Malaya grows ever more powerful, it begins to see its sibling nation as but a lackey.

And what could they do about it? Their economic base and military power was insignificant compared to that of Bruneian Malaya, and even now, the military of Bruneian Malaya passes through Sulu on a daily basis without requiring permission. Not that the Sultan had the power to deny them of course.

The Istana of Flowers, the palace of the Sultan of Sulu’s residence and office; was nowhere near as grand as that of the Great Sultan of Bruneian Malaya’s Istana. For the most part, it was made of wood with mostly local traditional architectural styles, and was but one large building.

The Sultan sat in his office, continuously barraged with papers and letters that he could barely find time outside work. On his desk, two maps of the region. One that displayed Sulu and Bruneian Malaya as two different nations, and one that displayed Sulu as a province of Bruneian Malaya.

West Malaya, Southeast Asia
Bruneian Malaya had long coveted Ligor and North Sumatra, which was at this moment currently held by the nation of Ayuthayya; a regional power that had aided Bruneian Malaya in its conquests throughout the centuries. Both had come to each other’s aid in their greatest times of need and despair, and both had been allies in the face of prosperity. Now, that friendship between two nations is challenged by Great Sultan Haji Farid’s ambitions.

His desire to unite the entirety of the Malayan Archipelago, including provinces given to Ayuthayya by previous Great Sultans; has caused friction between the two nations. In Malacca and Sumatra, large forces of land and air units gather, while an entire fleet stations itself right outside Ayuthayya’s naval borders.

Similarly, the Ayuthayyan Army had it’s vast majority stationed in the peninsula. Were Bruneian Malaya to initiate attack, the plan would be to simply push forth and capture Malacca and Singapura; threatening Bruneian Malaya’s trading economy and allowing Ayuthayya control over virtually all Indian-Pacific Ocean trade in an effort to break Bruneian Malaya’s economy enough that they themselves will be broken, allowing Ayuthayya to enforce its demands.

There would be war soon, there was no doubt about it.

Near Mandalay, Ayuthayya
Image

With everything ready, Hindustan finally declared war on Ayuthayya on decree from the Swaminarayan, who called for the Hindu Dharma to begin their crusade against the Theravada of Ayuthayya. He issued his statement
Hindus of the world! It is time our Matribhume is restored, and taken away from the vile Theravada menace. I call upon all Hindus, under the blessings of the gods, to take action agains these Theravada, and support your country if they are partaking in this war. Death to the occupying Theravada!

The forces that have been assembling at the Ayuthayya border finally mobilized and began marching through the jungle into Ayuthayya to begin the Yudh, as it was called by the Swaminarayan. Morale was high, as not only was Hindustan just out of its revolution against the British colonists, one led by Hindu clerics and restored the power of the Swaminarayan, but their goal was the Hindu reconquest of Angkor Wat, the largest Hindu temple in the world and one of the holiest sites of Hinduism. Fueled by the desire to reconquer their land, the Hindustani infantry, numbering over 300,000 soldiers initially was the largest mobilization of Hindustani troops since the revolution.

Right across the border from Ayuthayya was the strategic city of Mandalay, the Hindustani force at this side was lead by General Vijay Sharma, a veteran of the revolution, who lead his division of 50,000 infantrymen. Mandalay was of utmost strategic importance if Hindustan were to hope of carrying out its campaign. Not only was it a large city right across the jungle covered Burmese mountains, but it laid on the banks of the Irrawady River, which would allow quick passage to the port city of Rangoon. The division would attempt to approach and invade the city in a surprise attack, showing up from the jungle to its West, and attempt to capture it. A successful capture of Mandalay would be vital to the campaign, as it allowed for supply lines to be extended and provide for soldiers far from Hindustan’s borders, as the campaign progressed.

Fire the Blank Rounds! Light the Fireworks!, the Naval Commanders made sure that every single crewman knows that their enemies are not the Malayans, but the Viets. The shots were aimed in the general direction of the Malayan fleet, but not directly at them as to ensure no actual casualties and damage be done on the enemy even if they were blank rounds. After the staged shootout had ended, the Japanese fleet is ordered to link with the Malayan fleet. Similar to the Malayan actions, Japanese agents in Dai Viet also begin to spread reports of a potential war!

Reykjanesbær, Iceland, Aureumterra
Bjarnlaugur Elimarsson ducked under the cover of a large rock on the side of the road on his way to the church. in Iceland, curfews were strictly enforced, and being seen by a soldier at curfew time meant game over… The Auruemterrese soldier turned away, and Bjarnlaugur quickly took the opportunity to scamper up the road and out of the soldier’s sight. He was shocked to see another person right in front of him, but received that it was just his friend Radvardur Agustsson.

“What were you doing?! You almost got caught!” Radvardur cautioned in Auruemterrese. Bjarnlaugur shook his head, “Nope, I don’t think he even suspected me.” Bjarnlaugur replied in Icelandic. “Dude, the walls have ears, if we’re not in a secure area, just avoid speaking in Icelandic.” Radvardur replied in Aureumterrese. “Nei nei, let them hear me.” Radvardur lowered his voice, “You know what they might do to you, right?” “Yes, I do, don’t worry.” Bjarnlaugur replied.

The two continued down to the church, seeing no more soldiers. They did a secret knock on the entrance of the church, and the door was silently opened. Bjarnlaugur entered the church and shut the door quietly behind him, a small number of people were already there, conversing freely in Icelandic. A large number of students were there as well, coming to learn the language of their forefathers, as it was strictly forbidden in public schools. Every night in this church, they would be taught Icelandic in top secrecy. However this night, something was different. Another knock came on the church door… “Who could it be? I thought everyone was here already…” Bjarnlaugur said. He was petrified after he opened the door to see a squad of Auruemterrese Imperial Guardsmen standing there, armed.

South China Sea
The Malayan and Japanese fleets linked up, and convoys carrying tanks and infantry joined them. The fleet was ready to strike against the Dai Viet and Ayuthayya, who would rather expect that the Malayans cease their plans for invasion in face of a conflict with the Japanese Empire.

As such, they had poorly prepared their forces in the South China Sea. They were not expecting to be attacked from the direction of the South China Sea.

The Malay Peninsula
It was time. As Bruneian Malaya declared war on Ayuthayya, Dai Viet soon followed and joined its Ayuthayyan allies. Individually, each nation was already a force to be meddled with; but together, they could defend against even the mightiest empire. However, they were not dealing with one of the mightiest empires today; but three different powers feigning to be only one.

As the Ayuthayyans charged into Malacca, they encountered the resistance of a few defensive positions and infantry units; alongside formidable air superiority. However, they did not encounter tanks or other mechanized cavalry units, making it easier for them to push the majority of their forces towards the Malay Peninsula.

Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea
Battle raged ferociously across the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. The mightiest of battleships clashed against each other, as aircraft from both sides attempted to gain air superiority. It was not likely that the Malayan fleet would ever be destroyed, but it was also unlikely that they would be able to transport troops; ultimately dooming their invasion for now.

Mandalay
The Hindustani advance was unexpected, and as most of the Thai military force were bottled in the Malay Peninsula; they were unable to quickly respond. The city would fall swiftly, while Ayuthayya would attempt to relay some reinforcements to the area

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE EMPIRE OF AUREUMTERRA
Aureumterra, under the righteous rule of HIM Emperor Niels IV, declares its support for Vicario against the Islamic menace of Al-Kulumbiah. As such, Al-Kulumbian ships are barred from passing within the waters of any Aureumterrese holdings.

Dráeda (IRL Hispaniola), Aureumterrese Empire
Following the orders from Potens, Bård Opheim, the colonial governor of Dráeda, issued orders to begin militarizing the colony, due to its close proximity to Al-Kulumbiah. Kulumbian ships attempting to go through the territorial waters of Dráeda would be asked to leave immediately, and failure to do so would result in military action.

Ayuthayyan Front
Image

Following the capture of Mandalay, 1,000 soldiers were left there to keep control of the city. Food stores were sacked and used to keep the army going. General Vijay Sharma’s division would head down the Irrawady River and attempt to make a capture of the port city of Rangoon, the economic center of Burma. Luckily for the Hindustani troops, most of the Thai military was busy fighting off Bruneian Malaya on the Malay Peninsula, creating a bottleneck that can be used to trap the majority of Thai forces between two hostile powers.

More divisions of 50,000 began breaching the border and using the captured city of Mandalay as a jump point to march across all the poorly guarded land in Ayuthayya, facing little resistance, the entire force delegated to this campaign, of 300,000 soldiers, was mobilized and an all out invasion commenced. 2 divisions would march towards the North, attempting to make a quick capture of the smaller cities there, as well as using rivers and other bodies of water for fast travel.

A Southern division, lead by General Rahul Makhan, would lead his division along the coast and attempt to capture all areas leading towards the Malay peninsula, part of his division would stay at the capture line and make fortifications to defend against any Thai military offensives coming North from their front against Bruneian Malaya. The rest of the division would march forward and Southward towards the coast, where the biggest challenge in their campaign yet lay, Bangkok. Bangkok was the primate city of Ayuthayya and the royal capital, home of the Thai king, a Theravada pretender. His division would meet up with another division coming from the north, and together, the force would attempt to capture Bangkok, and the monarch if possible. Not only would the capture of the Ayuthayyan monarch be a blow to their enemy’s morale, but it would make the Theravada question if their king was truly divinely ordained to rule. It could be a powerful propaganda tool to encourage conversion.

Meanwhile in the Andaman Sea, 5 Hindustani battleships and Hindustan’s sole aircraft carrier, the HHS Yudhishtir, would sail in to combat Ayuthayyan naval forces if needed.

Albaira, Vicario
During one calm Albaira evening, a small group of senators gathered together around a typewriter.

"We should try to explain ourselves in the letter, as well; explain that it was not the will of the people to anger the Islamic faith," said the oligarch, flinching not in the slightest.

"I think we're offering to give them too much. The warhawks will gain too much support, and I'm sure they won't demand that much," said another.

The oligarchy that presided over the Atlantic continent was getting nervous. They were woefully unprepared for war, and the house was too divided on how to go about it. While they were glad to puff out their chest, now that they were facing a large alliance many could only think of their own lives and wealth and considered appeasement to save things in the long run. Mr. Ruzilio's plants within the senate, among a few others, were advocating for military reform which was proving difficult to push.

"Ahem," a senator said. "Our committee would like to speak of appeasement." A calm chatter bounced around the room, which quickly subsided. "Our committee has drafted an apology letter to the Arabian state."

"Nobody asked for this! You were not asked to move on--" interjected a furious senator.

"Let him speak!" hissed the Prime Minister. "Continue."

"Thank you." The man cleared his throat and began reading the contents of the draft, which proved highly controversial in the house. Mutters, gasps, groans reacted to each and every clause. At the end of the reading, the senate immediately was drowned in arguments which the Prime Minister was unable to settle down; eventually he gave up and let it happen. It took the Prime Minister an hour to finally direct the house onto another subject.

What was not difficult to deal with was to give the military permission to prepare for conflict with what they already possessed. As the southern fleet returned to port for repairs and maintenance, an air wing of 152 fighters and 15 bombers were transported to the Lesser Antilles to bolster a present air wing of 50 fighters and 50 reconnaissance aircraft. Much of the air force was on high alert and pre-positioned in cities of major importance which led them to be predominantly stationed along the east coast, with a few small groups on the west and a tiny recon wing in Bermuda. With its current instability and unsure attitude to the subject of war over the horizon, the Senate was unable to agree on whether or not to issue a letter of gratitude until the Aureumterran state from fears of perhaps provoking the already angered Arabian bloc.

Lesser Antilles
Two battleships accompany a single carrier, alongside five cruisers, twenty-one destroyers, and fourteen submarines; as they sail to the Lesser Antilles island chain controlled by the nation of Vicario. The battleships and the carrier functioned as flagships, while cruisers functioned as lightly armored and fast yet heavily armed warships; and destroyers as lightly armed and lightly armored fast ships that were more agile than most others, and could even target submarines with their torpedoes. The submarines were hidden underwater, and were some distance away from the main fleet; but could swiftly and stealthily approach to surface and fire torpedoes at their opponents, before submerging again and evading the enemy.

The heavier ships surrounded the carrier, protecting it; and were some distance away from each other to maximize their range and firepower. The destroyers were divided into seven squadrons of three, and accompanied each of the battleships and cruisers at some distance, ready to intercept any enemy ships and defend their respective heavy ships.

Image

Fighters swiftly deployed from the carrier, in order to establish air superiority as soon as possible. Occupying the air before the Vicarian fighters could even launch, and shooting down any enemy aircraft that attempted to even get off the ground.

Andaman Sea
The Ayuthayyan Andaman Fleet was caught off guard, not expecting to be attacked from the west; and swiftly found itself encircled by both Hindustani and Malayan fleets. Being attacked from the rear and requiring time to maneuver ships around to defend such a vulnerable position, offensive power was diverted away from the Malayan fleet for a moment, and was unavailable until the ships had readjusted their position; thus taking up more time, allowing their opponents greater opportunity to attack the Andaman Fleet.

Malay Peninsula
As soon as news arrived that a Hindustani force was marching south from Mandalay to trap the Ayuthayyan Army on the peninsula; the Malayan offensive began in full swing. Bombers began to accompany air superiority fighters in the sky, as they riddled the land below with explosives and incendiaries; followed up by a massive charge of tanks and other armored vehicles alongside infantry across the border. As the armored vehicles and tanks pushed the offensive forward, some of the infantry would stay behind to secure captured areas.

The Ayuthayyan Army would have to divert half of itself to defending against northern attacks, and thus were thinning their greater offensive and defensive power. Tanks, infantry, etc. would have to turn around the other direction and leave half their defense defending against a full offensive.

Bangkok
The Ayuthayyan monarch was not so much a fool as to remain in the capital for long in the face of such a considerable force. In a strategic retreat, a large fighter escort dedicated itself to defending the monarch's plane as it traveled to Dai Viet. This fighter escort would take out a chunk from Bangkok's local fighter defense, and thus leave the city's air superiority in question; making it vulnerable to bombing raids by the Hindustani.

Elsewhere in Ayuthayya
Indeed, the land forces of Ayuthayya were vulnerable all around; but their aircraft still posed a threat to invaders. Bombers and such would perform raids across Ayuthayya against the Hindustani force. Their goal was to stall their forces enough, until such a time that the Dai Viet Army will be able to repel the invaders with ease.

Dai Viet-Ayuthayyan Border
A large considerable force, numbering almost half a million began their march south in an attempt to reinforce their Ayuthayyan comrades against the Hindustani invasion. They used largely the same vehicles and equipment as the Malayans, but flew flags bearing a red circle upon a yellow banner. Their planes clouded the sky, as they prepared for a massive counter-offensive against the Hindustani and Malayan invasion. However, as they believed that Japan and Malaya were at war; they did not even consider an offensive upon North Malaya.

Around this time, the news of a Cairene Arabian fleet entering Vicarian waters and shooting at a neutral Vicarian patrol began to spread around the world like wildfire. With Arabia clearly established as the aggressor, the Ruzilian military was all ears to the fact that they could now engage safely without seeming like an instigator. Reputation was on their side, but the odds were not.

Lesser Antilles
Vicarian radars saw the fleet coming and responded with haste, sending out their aerial power. They had not any naval power in the area after all, so it was all hands on deck. All 202 fighters and the additional 50 recon variants took off into the air and engaged the enemy with the intent to only attack their air wing. Local commanders made the decision to keep their bombers grounded, bidding on being able to overcome the enemy before using the bombers to strike the enemy fleets. Vicarian planes were older; not biplanes, but certainly older with the exception of a few purchased ones here and there. For now, Vicario counted on numbers-- that was to say if they even possessed such an advantage.

Back home, the Vicarian Congress waited on news of the battle to aid them in deciding whether or not to properly pursue war. However, even then, the house would be divided. If their country won this battle, they could argue that they had a chance for victory or argue that they could use this battle to steer the enemy towards peace. If they lost, one could argue that desperate changes needed to be made to pursue victory or that the battle was a sign that defeat was inevitable. The people of Vicario were afraid of war; the history books and their grandfathers and grandmothers told them of the horrors of war and struck a fear of the destruction of their homeland into them. On the streets, people began to riot, demanding the Congress pursue peace before being scattered by police. Some viewed war as unavoidable and either panicked or demanded a stronger government response only to be chased away by police as well.

Somewhere on a long Vicarian road
Theme of Felix Ruzilio

Felix Ruzilio sat in the back of the car, reading the newspaper. He'd known from the start that this war would be his fault. The assassination of Saara al-Qaysar was his order; the woman knew too much about him. Yet still, the man felt not even the slightest pang of guilt. The war only appeared as an opportunity to the former military man. People would be radicalized and panicked, the government would become unstable, and the people would need a hero. He would be that hero, as he had desired and been orchestrating for some time. He would take over the country and, with an iron fist, turn it into a deadly war machine. On his orders, the streets would be strewn with the corpses of the invaders. The tide would turn, and Ruzilio's warriors would flood Al-Kulumbiah and burn it, let the world know the pain and suffering that Vicario had felt but ignored. Then would the world know that his people were no longer a punching bag but a force to be reckoned with.

Governor’s Mansion, Dráeda, Aureumterra
Colonial governor Bård Opheim sat at the head of a long table in a meeting room. Present at this meeting were military officials, advisors, and Imperial representatives from Potens. An emergency meeting had been called by the governor of the Dráeda colony to discuss how to address the encroaching actions taken by Cairene Arabia and Al-Kulumbiah. Dráeda was one of Aureumterra’s only colonial possessions in the Caribbean, and was now under direct threat from the Cairene Arabian navy. Aureumterra didn’t have a particularly powerful navy, it was an emerging nation in Europe if anything. The colony of Dráeda was a tropical getaway for many, and had been seeing an increasing influx of migrants, many who were seeking to escape the oppression of the mainland, as civil rights and business freedoms were a lot more open here, where the paranoid Emperor never had to worry about a revolution or insurgency against him and his rule.

Governor Opheim’s main concern was the fact that he personally only had control over a single battleship and a fleet of destroyers and cruisers. Those were the forces relegated by the Emperor to the colony for quick use. In case of an all out war, he would need the monarch himself to take command and order more ships to be diverted to the inevitable conflict zones in the Caribbean. Such a war would pose an existential threat to Dráeda, and Aureumterra’s vast domain would have to dedicate as much of its navy as possible to a conflict with a major world power like Cairene Arabia. On the flipside, the decline of the British Empire opened up the power vacuum in Europe once again, while the Soviet Union had firmly established its domain, the niche left behind by the British Empire was far too large for the USSR, it was something the ambitious citizenry of Aureumterra had been dreaming about. Winning this conflict against Cairene Arabia and its American allies would definitely mean territorial gains, and territorial gains here would pave the way for increased expansionism across the New World and the world.

As the last few attendees settled into their chairs around the table, in the Western hall of the Governor’s Mansion, a large wooden room with a large Aureumterrese flag draped on one side, and a large portrait to the bold Emperor Niels IV hung on the other side. Finally, once everyone settled down, Opheim began,

"May good health be upon the Emperor. Now, gentlemen we are here for a reason I hope all of you are aware of. The Islamic caliphate, Cairene Arabia, has begun an invasion of the Lesser Antilles. Such an invasion directly threatens the sovereignty of our colony, however, at hand, we only have a fleet of battleships, destroyers, and frigates." Opheim said.

"But governor, we’re not even officially at war with Cairene Arabia." An official pointed out

"Indeed, but Potens has made it clear that they are willing to protect Vicario at all costs. If we win this war, it’ll establish Aureumterra as a global power. The Arabian invasion of the Lesser Antilles means the enemy is at our doorstep, if we need to act, we must act now."

"Indeed." Nearly everyone agreed unanimously.

"Well then, I authorize our fleet of 3 battleships, 5 cruisers, 10 destroyers, 20 frigates, and 12 submarines to be deployed to counter the Arabian invasion and support Vicario. Also, launch anti-ship missiles from our land based missile launchers, let’s see win we can hit a few of Arabia’s destroyers."

"And, governor, we will request His Imperial Majesty for an official declaration of war, as well as mobilization of more forces." The representative of the Emperor commented.

"That will be useful."

Alfaris Airbase, Southwest of Lesser Antilles
The Alfaris Airbase was located southwest of Lesser Antilles, less than a thousand kilometers away. This made the airbase the perfect staging point for Kulumbian long range aircraft to perform fighter and bomber raids upon the Lesser Antilles. Two hundred long range heavy fighters would launch from this airbase, alongside fifty long range bombers to join the fifty or so close carrier-based fighters already in the air over the Lesser Antilles.

Lesser Antilles
The cruisers were each surrounded by three destroyers, providing them with a shield from enemy attacks. As the Aureumterrese submarines surfaced and unleashed their torpedoes, a number of these destroyers were hit in surprise. With destroyers heavily damaged on one flank, and two on the verge of sinking, the fleet was forced to turn its attention to the direction of the Aureumterrese Fleet; dividing its offensive and defensive power.

However, they were luckily close enough to the Kulumbian coast to request reinforcements. And as such was done.

The fighters changed tactics as well, in response to a radio saying that there was a larger fleet of aircraft reinforcements on the way. They focused rather on holding out long enough until the Kulumbian air force had arrived. The plan was to establish air superiority as soon as possible, allowing Al-Kulumbia to perform bombing runs on the islands; making it easier for Al-Kulumbia to launch troopships that would begin landing infantry and some vehicles to capture each of the islands.

The Vicarian Republican Air Force had not a large disadvantage but several slight ones. Their planes with slightly slower, less agile, less durable, and they were outnumbered by a little. Aureumterran support allowed them to keep fighting on with a realistic fighting chance, but things were looking hairy, so all fifteen bombers were ordered to take off and bumrush the Arabian fleet to hit it a few times. Meanwhile, quietly, as days of aerial combat passed, the southern ship group's repairs were moving smoothly, and they would perhaps be able to turn the tide if things lasted long enough.

Deathly realistic reports of the battle rolled into the Senate and also seeped out to the media, who began frantically reporting on the losing battle. Within hours, the riots had re-emerged with a newfound fury, and Albaira found itself facing chaos on the streets alongside several other of Vicario's great cities. With Aureumterran assistance, more and more of the senators began to believe there was a realistic fighting chance for their country. One by one, the oligarchs took more defined sides that began to look like a 50/50.

At Congress, the Prime Minister cleared his throat. "It's clear that war is inevitable," he said. "Our top commanders tell us that if the Lesser Antilles are seized, a land invasion most certainly may follow."

"They're only taking it to restore their trade routes!"

"Our commanders are not convinced. They're almost certain a land invasion will follow," the Prime Minister replied. "It's unlikely Arabia would've entered the war if it was to be a mere naval conflict. Kulumbia is moving as we speak."

Thus, finally the Vicarian senate began to properly deliberate on war. As they became more and more coherent in decision, the turmoil within the oligarch cliques that ran the Congress became stronger; in unity, they became more divided.

Lesser Antilles
With the Arabian fleet partially damaged, the submarine crews would attempt to load another torpedo into the launching bay, a process that would keep them surfaced and vulnerable. In order to cover for them, frigates would have their weapons aimed at potential threats. Meanwhile, the battleships would continue to fire at the planes launched by the Arabian carrier, aiming and shooting at the fighter jets. Aureumterra did not have a carrier in the region right now, however, the nearby island of Dráeda served as an unsinkable aircraft carrier in this battle, ready to provide reinforcements if needed. However, it was not deemed necessary right now.

Governor’s Mansion, Dráeda
War had finally been declared. Following the initial engagement with Arabia in the Caribbean Sea, an official war declaration had been made by the Emperor on Cairene Arabia and Al-Kulumbiah. Governor Bård Opheim’s problem, still, was that he only had a small fleet delegated by the Emperor for the colony’s immediate use. The Arabians had a carrier, while the battle was taking place not too far from Dráeda itself, future battles sure wouldn’t. Opheim doubted this battle would end the war, it was just the beginning, and Aureumterra would definitely need a larger fleet, and as such, Opheim had requested Potens to authorize a much larger fleet, including one of Aureumterra’s two carriers, to the war in the Caribbean.

As the battle ranged not too far away, Governor Opheim sat at his office desk in his mansion, closely watching news of the battle and ready to respond to any requests for reinforcements. He looked up has his secretary walked in,

"Governor, a letter for you." She said handing an envelope over.

"Thank you." He said as he took the envelope and put his eyeglasses on, to read.

The envelope had the Imperial seal on it, a message written by the Emperor himself. Opheim’s heartbeat started going faster, he hoped his requests for more forces had been approved, or else the colony was under imminent danger from two world powers. He opened the envelope and unfolded the piece of paper inside, reading the handwritten letter,

Governor,

Seeing the imminent danger to our rightful holdings in the Caribbean, I have authorized you with the control of a much larger fleet which will be arriving from our North American colonies. In this fleet, you have been given command of 10,000 men, a host of ships, as well as one of our carriers, the AIS Margaret II. More troop reinforcements will be arriving from North America and the mainland, under control of Imperial generals.

For the time being, you will have temporary authority to do whatever you want with the forces that have currently been assigned to Dráeda in order to win the ongoing battle in the Lesser Antilles. I understand that the colonial forces have already been deployed, and I hope the additional reinforcements are of value to the battle. Once the battle ends, control of the forces will be immediately handed over to the generals I am sending to Dráeda.

Remember, actions have consequences, and it is your responsibility to use the powers granted to you to do your loyal service to our glorious empire. I expect a decisive victory in the Lesser Antilles, and no less. Do not fail me, or the consequences shall not be friendly.

Signed,
HIM Emperor Niels IV

Opheim finished reading and folded up the letter, putting it at the corner of his desk. He had been given control of a much larger fleet in order to win the ongoing battle, one which included an aircraft carrier. He hoped the fleet was enough to fend off the Islamic menace in the New World, and perhaps even win this war against much larger powers. Perhaps establishing Aureumterra as a dominant power for the first time since the viking age.

Hålifax, Newfoundland Colonies, Aureumterra
The aircraft carrier AIS Margaret II, along with its entire carrier fleet, departed for Dráeda, while it was unsure if it would be needed immediately, it would definitely be a key asset in the whole of the war against Cairene Arabia and Al-Kulumbiah.

Lesser Antilles
The pathetic attempt of a bomber raid performed by the Vicarian bombers was met with intercepting fighters; whose pilots had the experience, precision, and accuracy. It was either that the bombers had a large escort of slow fighters to protect it from interceptors, thus diverting away from the islands the Vicarian air division's ability to defend in it's effort to offend; or, that the bombers had minimal escort and were thus much easier to take down. Either way presented opportunity for the Arabian forces, as if it were the former, then the islands would be much easier to perform a bombing raid upon by the incoming Kulumbian reinforcements; and if it were the latter, then the Vicarian bombers would be easy pickings for the Arabian wing.

Meanwhile, fourteen submarines surfaced; and fired torpedoes at the surfaced Aureumterrese submarines as soon as they surfaced, before swiftly changing course and submerging once more. They would attempt to sail around the Aureumterrese Fleet and resurface behind them to attack.

Al-Qahira
The caliph sat in his office after receiving news of Aureumterrese entry into the war. This was certainly unexpected, but there should have been little surprise. The caliph thus began to write certain letters addressed to different people. Among these people were the Grand Vizier of Al-Kalifurnia, as well as Great Sultan Haji Farid of the Kesultanan Besar Malaya Brunei.

North Atlantic
Twenty-two submarines sailed through the North Atlantic submerged throughout the entire journey. They would pass between Alenberg and Vicario, attempting to sneak past their patrols in the area. Once past the two landmasses, they would take a turn West; and continue to sail submerged, with periscopes functioning as their sole visuals for maximum stealth. Eleven would sail north to Iceland, and eleven would sail West to Newfoundsland.

Their goal would be to quickly surface and fire torpedoes at Aureumterrese ships before quickly submerging and escaping.

Lesser Antilles
Two hundred fighters and fifty bombers would arrive from the southwestern flank of the Lesser Antilles. With a heavy escort surrounding the fifteen bombers attempting to attack the Arabian Fleet, it would become quite easy for the two hundred fighters to swarm the slower and lesser in number Vicarian fighters from behind.

Lesser Antilles
The gamble was a total failure. The bombers were almost totally wiped out and their escorts were scattered. With much of Vicario's air wing grounded, air superiority was finally achieved by the Islamic bloc despite the continuing resistance by the VRAF. On the ground, the small island garrisons began to construct fortifications where they could, preparing for a proper invasion.

Northern Atlantic
Vicarian air patrols in the area found a single one of the submarines. Flying overhead, a recon craft soared over and dropped depth charges on it before making its exit. After that, the military had no reason to assume there were not more. More or less unaware of their objective however, the military did not make a big deal out of reporting it.

Lesser Antilles
Seeing the Vicarian air forces go down, the battleships turned all of their AA cannons at full force on the Arabian planes. Two of the submarines were breached in the torpedo strike, while one was damaged. The surviving submarines saw the attempt to circulate behind and attack the other ships in their fleet, with second torpedoes loaded, they fired, attempting to further damage the Arabian submarine fleet. Two submarines would aim their torpedoes at the cruisers, again, especially the ones whose destroyer escorts had already been severely damaged.

Meanwhile, a fleet of 250 fighters and 3 bombers were dispatched from Dráeda, as had been deemed necessary by the governor once the Kulumbian fleet arrived. The hope was the battleships would whittle down part of their fleet while reinforcements arrived from Dráeda.

Newfoundland
Aureumterrese patrols, already at high caution due to the war declaration, would detect submarine activity. In response, the port cannons would shoot seeking torpedoes underwater, hoping to strike the unknown submarines. While usually, such a hasty and careless maneuver wouldn’t be done, during wartime, it was especially suspicious for submarines to be passing near a military port. The port in Iceland would do the same, however with more force as military presence in Iceland was at an all-time high.

Reykjavík, Iceland, Aureumterra
Ever since the current Emperor’s father, Erik II, and now Niels IV, Iceland had been one of the most militarized places on Earth. The paranoia of the current monarch didn’t help things, in fact, underground meetings to teach the youth the Icelandic language and submerse in Icelandic culture were held nightly, a special division of the Imperial Guard was tasked with busting these "propaganda cells." The language was strictly forbidden in schools, and all aspects of daily life were tightly controlled and restricted.

The centre of Reykjavík was taken up by a large wooden platform, used as a show of force by the Imperial Guard, executing hundreds of suspected insurgents and activists in Iceland, and striking fear into the hearts of the Icelandic population. One of the most outspoken Icelandic independence activists was a man by the name of Sveinn Björnsson, he gained notoriety throughout the underground Icelandic republican movement for his passionate speeches on the culture of the Icelandic people and their fight for freedom. He was one of the key figureheads of the modern Icelandic independence movement, and an expensive bounty was placed on his head for it. The Imperial Guard eventually found him during a raid in Akureyri, and he was to be publicly executed today.

He was brought up on the platform, stumbling as an Imperial guardsman dragged him by the shoulders, his head was covered. His body looked mangled, beaten, and bruised, signs of brutal torture that were commonplace among Icelandic activists under the current regime. A guard bellowed, "Sveinn Björnsson has been charged with treason, inciting violence, and advocating rebellion against His Imperial Majesty, may good health be upon him. As a consequence of these heinous crimes against our glorious Emperor, he shall be hanged for his crimes."

The guardsmen handling him violently dragged him to the noose, as a crowd of people watched, some with vengeance, some with shock, and some with fear. They watched as the charismatic activist struggled to breath, eventually his body going limp.

Later that day, underground Icelandic cells would riot in the streets of Reykjavík, in vengeance for one of their key leaders. However, these riots were short lived as they were violently suppressed by the heightened military presence in Iceland.

Lesser Antilles
The cruisers would swiftly evade the torpedoes by hiding behind the battleships, whose more powerful armor could resist the torpedoes. They were slower, but speed was not of the essence at the moment. These battleships aimed their cannons at the enemy fleet, and fired volleys of explosive shells targeting enemy battleships and surfaced submarines.

The Arabian submarines submerged deep to avoid being hit by the torpedoes, and would only surface once behind the enemy submarines.

Cruisers, destroyers, and battleships all fired AA guns at the incoming Aureumterrese fighters; aiming to thin their numbers and allow the Kulumbian fighters to maintain air superiority.

Newfoundland and Iceland
The submarines would swiftly dive deep until they reached the thermocline layer. This layer in the ocean was a thin but distinct layer wherein temperatures would change rapidly; camouflaging submarines from seeker torpedoes.

After hitting the Arabian battleships, the Aureumterrese battleships would being exchanging their own volleys of artillery on the enemy cruisers and battleships, hoping to cause damage. The AA cannons continued firing at the Kulumbian and Arabian air fleets.

Eventually, the Aureumterrese reinforcements finally arrived, and radioed the Vicarians in informing them. Then, the 3 bombers would begin runs trying to hit the Arabian ships, while the large surrounding fleet of fighters would engage in a full on dogfight with the Arabian fleet.

Newfoundland and Iceland
The typical crash diving speed of a submarine for the era was around thirty seconds with a well-trained crew. Crash diving of course, was the tactic of rapidly submerging a submarine to avoid enemy attack or collision. Such was advantageous due to the submarine's depth rating, which was typically in the hundreds of feet; while a mere torpedo of the time could only reach from ten to little over twenty feet deep. As such, was the actions performed by the well-trained submarine crew of the Arabian submarines. However, a submarine in such a state was practically blind; and slower than it would be surfaced. It would not be able to know when the surface was clear, nor what was around it.

Lesser Antilles
The air would be little more than a stalemate, unless they manage to capture even at least one of the islands with airbases. Were such an effort to succeed, the Arab bloc would be able to station and repair aircraft upon the islands, and even dock and repair ships; allowing them to summon greater reinforcements beyond simply long range fighters and bombers, and include the larger fleet of medium range and short range aircraft as well. As such, the 50 Kulumbian bombers avoided the sea entirely; and began to perform bombing raids upon the islands with an escort of around 75 fighters. The rest of the fighters would attempt to maintain air superiority while avoiding AA guns. This was however, a heavy gamble; which would divert the Arabian air fleet's power to defend the warships and maintain air superiority. It would thus become the priority of the fighters to destroy the 3 bombers before anything else; as they expected reinforcements would be able to arrive after they had captured the islands anyway.

Battleships, slow as they were, were strong enough to take a beating; and could withstand the heaviest of the Aureumterrese naval artillery. But these went for both sides as well, and it would require thus an outflanking to change the tide of battle significantly to the point that one side could have a guaranteed victory.

As such, the fourteen submarines that had submerged and circled around the Aureumterrese fleet would surface; and begin torpedoes from behind before they would even be able to respond. Of course, this meant that they would be vulnerable to bombers; but they should have been busy trying to take down the formidable battleships.
