The nuances of man's greatest invention: Choccy milk

Postby Urlendia » Sun Feb 16, 2020 12:26 pm

I consider myself a chocolate milk conniseur: I drink a lot of chocolate milk, I review chocolate milk, I talk about chocolate milk and I dream about chocolate milk.
Choccy milk can perhaps be viewed as juvenile by many. It's just milk and some form of chocolate, right? Wrong. There are many components in chocolate milk, each of them as important as every single star in this universe. What kind of milk, pasteurization of milk, fat percentage of the milk, chocolate type, syrup versus powder, additional flavour notes and lactose is just a few of the variables I have noted in my ancient chocolate milk enthusiasm.

So, NS'ers or whatever the denoniation is for this forum! What is your favourite chocolate milk? Do you perhaps prefer strawberry milk? Is pasteurization a factor you worry about?

Tell me about your chocolate milk thoughts.

The best chocolate milk (or chocolate milkshake as it's known outside the colonies) is when the milk is thick and the icecream is well stirred and balanced; one place I know just creates chocolate milkshake and lumps an unstirred scoop of icecream into the drink and they don't even use chocolate icecream, just normal vanilla which probably isn't even that vanillery. Mcdonalds milkshake tastes like it's just melted icecream, which isn't really a bad thing but it does make me wonder if it is technically milkshake.

The better ones can be found in restaurants where it's almost like a dessert in a glass; packing 5 diabetes per square inch.

While chocolate is always the best, peanut butter milkshake comes a close second. It's like Reese's liquidized.

I once made a Bounty cocktail by mixing chocolate milkshake and Malibu. <3

Oh, that is very interesting! I didn't know that chocolate milkshake is the same as chocolate milk. But I do love a good chocolate milkshake.
That Bounty milkshake does sound lovely <3

I think they're used interchangeably as I've never seen milkshake (or other dairy-based chocolate drinks) sold as "chocolate milk", but if there is a difference I'd guess that chocolate milk is the stuff which is literally just milk with some chocolate powder/flavouring added to it, where as a chocolate milkshake is bridging the gap between milk and a sundae.

Chocolate milk and chocolate milkshakes are two different things. Much how chocolate milkshakes and chocolate ice cream are two different things - though the latter comparison is at least very similar in their make ups.

Chocolate milk is literally just chocolate flavored milk.

As a man who enjoys consumption of chocolate milk more often lately, I must agree the stuff is good.

Though I've always loved milk in general. Vanilla milk is the superior flavored milk.

God, none of the stores around me carry, like, full fat choccy milk except for RiteAid, and going to RiteAid for choccy milk is kinda ghetto as fuck. There's nothing sadder than a low fat choccy milk. Shit's like water.

However, Wawa does have a double dutch chocolate milk, and that stuff is basically liquid gold.

Rather than chocolate milk, here we are much more into porn, auto-erotic stimulation, and the occasional fornication with hookers, of course...

I usually melt Hershey's chocolate into milk, stir it, and drink it. Tastes quite sweet.

I don't care for it very sweet. My aged pancreas gets annoyed and whines a lot.

My favorite chocolate milk is Milo because I grew up with it. It's served in virtually every kopitiam in Malaysia and Singapore and we used to lug a tin of Milo back to Hong Kong whenever we visited Malaysia for Chinese New Year. In Hong Kong, cha chaan tengs mainly serve Ovaltine. I was genuinely taken aback when I discovered they don't serve Milo in British and European cafes and restaurants.
