“It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper.” -J. V. STALIN

Oh she has already come and gone. I think the only people still behind are Plzen and I, due to our conflict still being in arbitration.

I wanted to get some IC training through, hopefully I can use your conflict as a excuse to continue making training IC posts :p

Maybe even briefly mentioning interest in the northern conflict.

I want to suggest legislature, but I gotta set up appropriate background for Mark's opinion to be worth anything first, and that might take just a little bit.

Wow, this has really started moving fast, can I ask for a recap what happened in my part of Europe ( Poland and the Baltic Coast )?

Very little. I think the Nestos folks have formally made contact with the southern parts of the League, but that's all I recall.

Miss a day, and suddenly there's another 8 pages.

Anyways here's a thought. Would Ireland have vague knowledge of Nestos as of 2975. By then we'll have a plethora of ambassadors and representatives faffing about in the Imperium, and I'm sure at least some rumors of hipster greeks would crop up.

Didn't you call your folks, like, the Vistulan League?

Hmm. Perhaps? I think the people from Nestos are trying to keep as low a profile as possible in the Imperium - they only technically sent an expedition upriver into the part we hold of Romania before the timeskip. News will spread to Mara from there within five years, certainly, but whether or not the Irish hear of it I couldn't really say.

Vistulan Confederation, not Vistulan League

Fair enough. I doubt we'll be making any meaningful contact with them in the near future anyway.

Would be nice though. Say what you will about Nestos, they've definitely got some interesting things going on.

What happened was that we got to Gdansk for the amber and seaweed. Then we left and the Vistulan League moved in, essentially taking over Gdansk and the surrounding area on the Vistula. It would be an odd situation. The amber traders on the Vistulan river which go to Gdansk would still be going up and down the river, but they would find themselves in a strange situation as the Cvart and Vistulan League took over. Some of them might flee south to the Imperium or further south to the Cucuteni lands. They came to us first to Varna with amber.

Gdansk controls 90% of the worlds amber supply in real life. It would be a truly odd situation. We tried to get up the Vistula being escorted through freshly conquered territory by silent masked men who tortured people on occasion with acid. When our expedition made it to Gdansk, we found ourselves part of a secretive society which offered us petroleum, seaweed, and amber for our trade goods. It would be a scary enough situation where traders would not be so quick to go up the river again. Trade would be initiated, but it would be the kind of thing where only people with hearts of iron or motivated by high levels of greed would be willing to go there. The most extreme of traders.

I imagine it might be something like a Heart of Darkness type situation where we are entering very dangerous territory. I could imagine one of the traders saying or doing something stupid and simply disappearing. The singular goal with the Vistulans is to get to Gdansk for amber. It is the source for the Amber Road.

Ooh didn't see this. Welcome to the disaster area that is Britain! The Dusk Union (Dusk Pact? Dusk Alliance? It's a working title, we just like the irony) could use a neutral arbiter, since Pat and Issac are very different individuals.

A random thought, but I hope we can advance enough to get some semblance of modern society back. I'd hate to be living like a primitive for centuries.

I recall in a previous iteration, G-Tech had cannons, breechloading rifles, the steam engine, working trains, and even electricity. I at least want to get to that point.

Somewhat detailed map of Icedonia at the moment. Going to try and get a post up. Realize that my cast of characters is dramatically increasing over time. I have very big plans for all of them!

Oh no need for that. Antrim is solidly under Irish control.

In the future I may be willing to sell Wight for border cleanup purposes though :P

You could also sell us your settlements on the Northern Isles in the interests of cleaner borders. :p

That will give us clean control of the waterways between Scandinavia and Iceland, and you won’t have this weird Crescent-shaped territory that kind of encircles Icedonia.

Resolving the one major dispute that currently divide our two States is just a bonus.
