⠀► GENERAL INFORMATION:
Welcome to the embassy exchange programme of the Most Serene Republic of Montevento, created by orders of the Doge of the Republic and maintained by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the communication between the Monteventani Government and foreign nations, in order to create long lasting bonds of friendship, cooperation and prosperity between the people of different nations and Montevento, as well as providing help and support for Monteventani citizens living abroad.
The Most Serene Republic of Montevento is a small republic located in the northern coast of South America, bordering the Atlantic Ocean at the north and the Amazon jungle at the south and east. The Republic is home to only 1.64 million people of whom around a quarter live in the capital city of San Giovanni. The small population of Montevento has deep democratic and pacifist traditions, avoiding most conflicts in the world stage and opting for diplomatic solutions. Montevento's almost non existent military is a direct consequence of this mind set.
The country is an unitary parliamentary republic, led by the Doge, position currently held by Mr. Christian Saavedra after being elected by all the citizens of the republic above 18 years old during the 2019 national elections. Politically, the citizens of Montevento are very moderate, seeing both political extremes with suspicion and disgust. The nation has a free market economy
The official language of the Republic is Italian, but other languages such as Spanish and the Monteventani dialect (a mixture between Spanish and Italian) are also spoken in some areas of the country. Montevento has a strong European heritage despite its location in South America, due to its past as an Italian colony for more than 200 years and the gradual extermination of the native people of the territories of the nation.
⠀► REGULATIONS:
In order for an embassy or consulate application to be approved, some regulations must be followed. No exceptions will be guaranteed by the Government of Montevento. For your convenience, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has elaborated the following list detailing the current regulations and requirements:
- Location: All embassies must be located in our capital city (San Giovanni) in the Province of Costa Grande. The Via Santa María is the road where all embassies are located. Consulates may be located in any city of Montevento, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends the cities of Nuova Firenze, Altacchia, Alcadell, Tivollo or Ferona for their installation, as they are the most populous and where most foreigners are. ⠀ - Weapons: Only some small arms are allowed in embassies or consulates. The list of allowed weapons include: handguns (revolvers, pistols, derringers and machine pistols), muskets/rifled muskets, shotguns, rifles and their respective ammunition. No explosives are allowed. The Most Serene Republic of Montevento reserves the right to deny access to the country to any other type of weaponry.
⠀ - Vehicles: A maximum of 10 ground vehicles is allowed in embassies and consulates. No planes, helicopters or any other flying vehicle is allowed. Vehicles can be armoured but not armed.
⠀ - Personnel: A maximum of 50 personnel is allowed at embassies, while a maximum of 30 is allowed at consulates. (the nation applying may adjust the number as they wish, but must not be exceeded). All personnel must be vaccinated against infectious diseases.
⠀ - Sovereignty: The territory where an embassy or consulate is located is still considered to be part of the Monteventani territories, but Monteventani laws do not apply on them, and instead, they are subject to the applying nation's laws. It is responsibility of the applying nation to maintain the embassy in good conditions. Montevento will terminate all embassies or consulates that are found to be abandoned or in deplorable conditions.
