There was also a captain sent to the USSR as a tank doctrine adviser after a decision was made to put up signs saying sheep should keep out of the roads in Southern England so military traffic was unimpeded. He asked a general how the sheep were supposed to read the signs.

I'd also question exactly how much a sheep would hold up a tank.

In regards to the poll; kinda sad. I'm pro-EU but I've became so tired of the drama and rhetoric that I just want to get on with it and hope that Britain can make the most out of being outside the EU.

Indeed, someone came up to me on Jan 31st saying in a jubilant mood- "it's time to honour Lord Nelson and Winston Churchill, you know we used to fight the French??" As if you have to be a Brexiteer to honour them.

As for my previous post, I imagine that some remainers would see my attitude as 'giving up', but if I'm giving up on anything it's seeing the constant pessimism and virtual flagellation in hoping that Brexit doesn't work for Britain.

Random side note, Northern Ireland uses BT as the post code for the entire region. For such a long time i thought Scotland etc would have had just one postcode too.

i must say it's extremely interesting to watch the "voting age should be 16 but age of consent should be 18" crowd out in force on other sites today

at the very least i've seen at least one person openly admit that it's very hard for them to come with a logical justification for it

And are you similarly asserting by implication that the fact Mr Mackay lives with his long-term partner is irrelevant if the young man was consenting? A clarification would perhaps be welcome.

Mr Mackay is not married. He separated from his wife in 2013 after coming out as gay. He currently lives with his partner Fraser Adam. He's not married to Mr Adam, though I'm not sure that entirely matters here.

i have no particular comment on this case specifically at this time because i have not adequately researched it. i'm just commenting on that there are a lot of people with that general position both in regards to and outside of this case and that i find that position strange.

It is thought the device may have been intended for a Brexit day attack.

Police said they first received a report about an explosive device in a lorry at Belfast docks on 31 January - the date the UK left the EU.

In a call to a media outlet, it was claimed the lorry was due to travel by ferry to Scotland.
