TurtleShroom's police forces are as follows:

• The Imperial Ministry of the Enforcement of the Prohibition (MEP). The MEP stands on the confederal level and focuses on exactly what its name says. It deals with all contraband drugs and alcohol. It also deals with drugs that are legal in one state and illegal in another (e.g. tobacco being permitted in Baksu but not the Jonesboro Parish). They also capture shipments from permissive Parishes into prohibitionary Parishes.
• The Imperial Ministry of the Police (MOP). This is TurtleShroom's imperial police force. It cooperates with the individual Parishes on issues covered under Parishes' Rights and also deals with anything crossing out of one Parish or subdivision into another. The MOP does not handle drug crimes. That is the MEP's job.
• The TurtleShroom Inquisition. This is TurtleShroom's vice squad, dealing with sex crimes dedicated to the Crown and any interstate sex crime. As no laws governing heresy and blasphemy exist, the Inquisition is religious only in its definition of sex crimes and morality. The broad, TS definition of sex crimes also include fornication, sodomy, bigamy, adultery, sex toys, and more. They are also responsible for enfocing the Board of Censors' media regulations by seizing contraband films and movies. Like the religious Inquisitions of old, they wear red robes and red capirotes as signs of penance and moral authority. It has nothing to do with the identical, white hoods of the Ku Klux Klan.
• Parishional police forces. The individual Parishes and subdivisions of TS have their own police.
• Private security contractors for noble fiefs and estates. Free Cities, noble estates, company towns, and theocracy zones all are required to hire their own police forces without taxpayer money. Alternatively, they can use deputization and the old posse system and grant them police power.
• Lower level police forces. Cities, Amalgamated Districts, and other small-level areas can have their own police forces.
• The Militia. Equal to the National Guard but far more decentralized, the Militia consists entirely of laymen that serve voluntarily. They are also Army Reserves. They are called as reserves when cops need back up as well. While there is a Headmaster in charge of everything, in practice, each Parish and any other subdivision has their own autonomous Militia. The Crown can call them as well, but unless the Militia is being drafted for war as reserves, they must have the explicit consent of the Parish to be deployed for imperial purposes.
• Any subdivision of TS, or even the Parishes themselves may, at any time, hire private police forces and deputize them with police power.
• Parishes can call up their divisions of the Militia as well.
• The military can only be used for policing and exercise police power in certain circumstances or Martial Law, both outlined in the Constitution.

The Public Security Corps is the gendarmerie branch of the Zhouranese People's Army. Being a service branch of the ZPA, the PSC is heavily-armed to the point that it has more firepower than low-to-mid tier foreign militaries. PSC gendarmes on the beat carry the usual common police equipment such as taser, baton, handcuffs, pistol, etc., but unlike foreign civilian police forces, the average PSC gendarme is also issued with military-grade gear such as soft- to hard-plate bulletproof vests, a primary weapon such as an assault rifle, shotgun or even a battle rifle, and for high-level situations such as violent riots, military helmet, gas-masks, as well as riot shields or ballistic shields depending on the actual situation.

For several years, Zhouran has always been known for having some of the lowest crime rates in the world as well as some of the highest safety indexes as well, this is in part due to social security and providing easy-access to jobs without restrictions in order to promote social mobility and basic right to employment, thus preventing the radicalization of potential criminals since crime especially seen in the western capitalist world is mainly due to various factors including lack of social mobility and job opportunity along with poverty being a reflection of a nation's society & economics rather than being a "personal choice" as touted by the 1% and their corporate loyalists. With very-low crime rates and a very-high safety index, this means the Public Security Corps can focus on dissuading potential threats such as terrorism or mass shootings. The PSC also engages in liaison operations with local communities in order to promote the Zhouranese People's Army's mission of serving and defending the Zhouranese People & Nation from internal & external threats. Most of the time, the PSC mainly deals with small-scale petty crimes and from time-to-time they'll also be tasked with supervising political rallies and prevent both the political-moderate and the political-hardline from engaging in massive protest brawls since the Zhouranese are known for holding massive political rallies and turning into bloodbaths in the streets between the two political sides.
