< < < < < < < < < < I WISH TO BECOME THE WHF OVERSEER > > > > > > > > > >
Nation name: Natanya
Debuting edition (as user): 30
Total number of participations (as user): 7
Leadership/hosting experience: Unfortunately I am yet to host an edition. Yet.

Why I should be elected: Hi, I'm Natanya, I've been around for a while. I have put my name forward in the overseer election as I would like to use both my NS experience and my fresh outlook to keep World Hit Festival a fun and enjoyable contest for everyone. I have been on NS since late 2011 so it's fair to say I've been around the block, however I have never seriously perused a leadership role in WHF or WV up until now. I believe that I could live up to the title of overseer and follow in the pretty good footsteps Britonisea is leaving, despite also being a new name when it comes to a higher position like this (my name has never been anything but White on discord lmao). I try to act fair, kind and forgiving with people and would be happy to civilly talk through any problems or ideas any user has. I am many socials and are usually close to a device so should be pretty easy for you to contact. Conversely, I hate getting messed about and know when someone is trying to sell me down the river, so wouldn't be a simple push over if pressured by a user. I hope my mix of experience and freshness is appealing to whoever you are reading, and thanks for doing so! :)
How I can make WHF better: First of all, maintaining the current high standard that has been set by Overseers-past, this is essential to the identity of the competition in my opinion. Furthermore I would try to expand it by creating things like more RP events and occasional special editions to keep it fresh and keep people interesting and motivated, as well as striving to promote the contest to more new users. I would also take a large interest in expanding and creating the Wiki articles to be more complete, both by myself and getting others involved to help too.
GENERATION 33: The first time you see this, copy it into your signature on any forum and add 1 to the generation.

WV21 - Savnic - The Japanese Girl - 22nd - 25 points,
WV31 - Kaylileenástkadeenada Ñadiakimadoradaþínkaðerren - You Can't Make Me Cry - 16th - 37 points,
WV32 - Tuo Su and Yao Su - Internal Fire - 19th - 42 Points,
WV34 - CNLD,
WV38 - CNLD.

The Overseer's Curiosity

Questions for Natanya
- Could you speak more about other RPs that you'd like to introduce to the World Hit Festival? When you speak of special occasions, do you mean things like the orchestra edition we did in '46 or JWHF or things on the side?
- How do you intend to promote the contest to new users? Attracting users is quite a hard task, but it would be good to see the growth of the contest.
- Are there any rules that you would amend? On that note, are you interested in changing the tiebreaker system?
- I've tried to update the WIKI articles but as I got my A Levels out the way, the wiki site shut down and literally started again as I started Uni so that's one thing I couldn't do when I was Overseer but would help you out wherever you need it. Where would you start?

Questions for Both
- How would you run the JWHF? The 6th and 7th edition will have had the new Jury/Televote system in place. Would you revert to the normal 5-1 singular vote or keep the Jury/Televote breakdown. Just a note as well, if either of you are elected, you will be taught how to do the Jury/Televote system as you'll be helping out with the running of the JWHF7!

Thanks!

There is under 24 HOURS TO BID FOR JWHF7!

PLEASE POST YOUR BID HERE BEFORE Sunday 9th February 2020 22:59 GMT for your chance to become JWHF7 host.

As it stands the current bidder will go on to host the competition.

I think that the Televote system is complicated and i don't see the need for that and as such, i belive reverting to pure, singular 5-1 points system.

LLALTAVISION
For the 2nd time ever, Llalta is hosting it's very own National Final, LlaltaVision. It's previous winner, Pingu, came 23rd at the 67th WorldVision in Darkmania. However, this NF is hoping to do considerably better with the winning entry. This NF consists of 2 songs, both to be performed by prestigious Llaltese star, Esther Winterbourne. Voting details will be revealed at the end.

"Pastures of Gold"
Esther Winterbourne
Teru No Uta - Teshima Aoi

"Pastures of Gold", written and composed by Esther Winterbourne, is a sweet lullaby dedicated to the lives lost during war, civilian and military. The bittersweet lyrics talk of another place, where families will be reunited once again, and peace parallels the tensions of our Earth.

"Yours Truly"
Esther Winterbourne
Song of Time - Teshima Aoi

Again, written and composed by Esther Winterbourne, "Yours Truly" is a bittersweet letter to herself from 10 years ago. A song from the heart, and maybe even your heart too. The song is almost like a heartfelt duet between her and her piano, liking to the relationship between her and her past self.

VOTING
In order to vote, one must TG or PM over discord what you'd rate either song out of 10, where the results will be formed from the average rating of each song. For example:

"Pastures of Gold"
6, 4, 8, 9, 6 = 6.6
"Yours Truly"
5, 10, 10, 8, 7 = 8

Thus "Yours Truly" would win!

START VOTING NOW!

5th Overseer Elections - VOTE NOW

Postby Britonisea » Mon Feb 10, 2020 11:15 am

5TH WORLD HIT FESTIVAL OVERSEER ELECTIONS

Now that the 9th of February has passed, it is time to begin the next phase of the World Hit Festival overseer elections. This post will contain the official ballot with which users will vote upon as well as the two methods of how the results will be determined. Only users that have registered for the 50th World Hit Festival so far are eligible to vote. That list consists of...

This list only includes USERS. Please TG Britonisea if you have been missed out.

All nations that vote must send their vote to Estogium. Please wait for a confirmation telegram. If you have not received a confirmation telegram 24-36 hours before you submitted your votes, immediately TG Britonisea. Those on the ballot can still vote.

THE BALLOT

There will be two items that will be decided upon this election. The first part of the ballot will concern who you want the next WHF Overseer. All candidates, with links to their ballots, are presented to you in alphabetical order here. Please rank them from 1 through 3, with your number 1 choice being your most preferred candidate and your number 3 choice being your least preferred.

  • Britonisea
The current overseer is to be included in your ranking. Rank them above any user you deem is unworthy of becoming overseer, and below everyone else. In the event that Britonisea wins the elections and is deemed the most trustworthy, they will resume their overseeing duties for an as-of-yet undetermined amount of time.

The second item will be the system that will be utilized to determine how the rankings are awarded and processed into a valid set of votes. For this part, you will choose only one option.

  • Borda count
The rank number is converted into a corresponding amount of points. The favourite will have 1 point and the least will have 3. Whoever has the least points is declared the winner.
  • Instant-runoff voting
Only the first choice is counted at first. If none of the candidates obtain more than half of the vote, the last-placed user is eliminated and the votes are recounted in the same manner. This repeats until a winner is determined.

Use this as a template if you're stuck!
TG -> Estogium

THE OVERSEER
1. Albania
2. France
3. Spain

RANK SYSTEM
Borda Count/Instant Run off Voting.

You will have until 17 February 2020, 18:00 GMT to cast your votes. I encourage all eligible nations to vote. Remember, this very election could well decide the fate of the World Hit Festival, so I encourage all of you make to your voices heard.

Here are my answers for the overseer's questions. I have tried to answer each question in as much detail as I felt I needed to use to explain myself clearly. Any further question I'll be happy to answer.

- Could you speak more about other RPs that you'd like to introduce to the World Hit Festival? When you speak of special occasions, do you mean things like the orchestra edition we did in '46 or JWHF or things on the side?

The main thing I was referring to when it comes to extra RP events is optional roleplaying events for users to get involved with to expand in the canon, in character happenings of each edition. It has been discussed before in the Discord chat about opening up the possibility of other roleplaying events that users can participate in with their characters and I would like to take inspiration from these ideas to bring new aspects to the World Hit Festival. These would be potentially be things like a Red-Carpet event/Opening ceremony or Press conferences with the acts of the edition, just to give some potential examples. Like stated before, these types of events would be totally optional as I would not want to make users feel pressured that they have to write a lot and would be more targeted to those who would enjoy these type of events to get into character and build the character’s personality. For special editions, I would like to do stuff like the orchestra edition in 46, however just like the orchestra edition I’d probably make it a one-off special edition and would try and gage the reception of the userbase before making anything final. For the Junior edition of the contest, other than also introducing extra option RP events, I would likely keep its structure and frequency the same. For potential spin-offs and “things on the side”, unless I or someone else had a particularly good idea, and then said good idea had at least a somewhat warm reception among the community would I consider taking them forward as an official spin-off from the contest. I wouldn’t want to create too much of a workload not only for myself but for the regular users in WHF, plus introducing many new things can be exciting, but also overwhelming, and so many things can be difficult to execute successfully. I would like to make sure that I keep the contest fun, first and foremost, instead of just adding and adding and assuming people enjoy my additions. If many people don’t find new additions fun, then they’re detrimental to the contest, hence why I’ve clearly clarified that the roleplaying events would be completely optional.

Britonisea wrote:- How do you intend to promote the contest to new users? Attracting users is quite a hard task, but it would be good to see the growth of the contest.

Why that is a very good question Mr. Britonisea. I think a good way to do it would by through a natural growth, attracting interest by keeping the contest interesting and exciting, and most importantly, relevant. First impressions are important, and I believe that putting on a good front and positive networking, by which I do not mean spamming other threads with “Sign up to WHF”, don’t worry lol. I feel like, while it’s probably a long shot, if I take it upon myself to become more active in other boards, and spread my network of NationStates user that I am acquainted with then my presence as WHF Overseer could potentially influence them to at least give the competition a look and maybe even a try. Going hand in hand with this concept is also softer ways of spreading knowledge of the contest, like for example, making a clear statement about the contest and whichever edition is running within my forum signature, spreading exposure for the contest throughout the forums within overtly advertising or irritating anyone. While this wouldn’t be a sure-fire success as I imagine many people don’t even read sigs., the exposure it could and likely would create would still potentially attract some new users, and any growth I would consider a success. Furthermore, thinking further into the topic, something that is at least of equal importance that I looked over before is not just attracting the new potential competitors, but keeping them interesting and making sure they try out the contest once, and then after that come back for future contests past their first. I would try and achieve this by being clear and approachable for newbies and making sure the contest was too, answering any questions need and encouraging them to give stuff a try and see if they like it, and try and solve any issues that they might be having. Obviously, the competition is never going to be for everyone, but making sure those who do want to give it a try get a friendly face and moral support can definitely help influence them into becoming a more regular participant.

Britonisea wrote:- Are there any rules that you would amend? On that note, are you interested in changing the tiebreaker system?

Looking through the set of rules on the OP, there really isn’t much I take issue with or think really needs urgent attention to be honest. If I had to put out ideas for any possible amendments, maybe making the actual line for what counts as enough of the song being original clearer. I’m also a fan of having semi-finals at the contest, so would potentially put forward the idea of lowering the required number of nations per semi, but that would be an idea I would only push if it was popular among the regular users. Other than them two potential ideas, there’s nothing I would really think to do to change the current set of rules really. Similarly, I think the current tiebreaker system is pretty solid as it is, and I can understand why Darky has thought of a change for the last step, I don’t really feel like it’s something that’s a pressing matter, especially due to the extremely rare chance that’ll come down to need that level of the tiebreaker.

Britonisea wrote:- I've tried to update the WIKI articles but as I got my A Levels out the way, the wiki site shut down and literally started again as I started Uni so that's one thing I couldn't do when I was Overseer but would help you out wherever you need it. Where would you start?

That’s some unfortunate luck there, Brit. As for my plans for a system of updating the World Hit Festival’s wiki pages, I think that I would likely start recently, and then work my way back over. This is for two main reasons. Firstly, the more recent contests are obviously the more recent in mind and will likely have more recently active participants whom will probably be happy to see their names and results on the newer wiki pages and may even be willing to help write if they are involved. Secondly, due to the contest obviously being new back when it started, things aren’t that clear cut and many things changed edition by edition, with some of these older practises causing issues for us now, especially when it comes to writing wiki articles, as some of the results are completely missing with others partially lost. Putting this potentially troubling articles to the back will help us have to the prepare what to do for these and give us, especially those newer to writing wiki articles, practise and easier and fuller editions before getting to some that might be a bit more challenging to make look complete and in-character. As with how I would go about with the article making, firstly I would see if, like you offered in your question, anyone wanted to volunteer to help me. This obviously wouldn’t be me giving them a full on job, and they could stop helping whenever they like, but knowing who are prepared to help with completing articles could help me organise article writing better, spread the workload out, and complete articles more efficiently. On top of this, I feel like I would likely also work on a short checklist of personal standards that I would write each article up to before moving on to the next, and would give any helpers said checklist if they wanted to know what I was looking to see, although this wouldn’t be required of course, and would only be a thing that I for certain would stick by. This checklist would probably both include points relating to the formatting and professionalism of each article as well as the content in which to include in the article, and I would probably group my points into tiers of importance, from essential for the article to have, down to a nice extra we could add when we’ve got the extra time and have made significant progress on getting the essentials done on other articles. I would start working on said checklist in more detail once I got elected, if I won.

Britonisea wrote:Questions for Both
- How would you run the JWHF? The 6th and 7th edition will have had the new Jury/Televote system in place. Would you revert to the normal 5-1 singular vote or keep the Jury/Televote breakdown. Just a note as well, if either of you are elected, you will be taught how to do the Jury/Televote system as you'll be helping out with the running of the JWHF7!

Thanks!

Personally, I would like to keep the Jury/Televote split system for the junior contest, I think it’s a fairly nice and unique system that gives the junior contest its own extra character independent of the main competition. I don’t think it’s too complex for me to be unable to understand it quickly and be able to apply it to future competitions independently. So, I would likely only remove it if there was a big enough call for its removal.

Thanks for reading my answers. :)

BVC News: #VM2020 Acts Revealed!

Postby Britonisea » Sat Feb 15, 2020 5:36 pm

BVC MUSIC
Brityunik Vefecosoin Cairkovoin

The 29 Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020 acts have been confirmed!

Britonisea's hit show, Vha Mehlodhivestoile is back for the 5th edition since it's first edition back in 2016. This year, 29 acts will be participating, hoping to represent Britonisea at either the WorldVision Song Contest or World Hit Festival

Vha Mehlodhivestoile is the national final responsible for the majority of Britonisea's WorldVision Song Contest wins. Songs "Centre of Attraction", "Cy Ecouto Teuten Vokse" and most recently "Want You Home", songs that won in 2016, 2018 and 2019 respectively are Britonisea's top three best results to date and BVC/BITC are hoping to add another title to the list. This year there has been a slight change in the format, which comes as no surprise to the fans of Vha Mehlodhivestoile due to changes happening every year to the format to keep it interesting for viewers. A total of 29 participants will be taking to the stage and you can find them below;

Image
Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020: The Class of 2020 is comprimised of 43 artists in 29 acts. 43 artists equal the record set in 2016.

This year, there are quite a few returning acts that we should keep our eyes on. Most notably, the third-place act from Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2019, Jun-iči Hoch & Ekkehard Liinamaa will be making a comeback, qualifying straight to the Grand Final after representing Britonisea at the 74th WorldVision Song Contest, where they scored the nation's 7th best result (2nd, 113 points) and so there's excitement surrounding that act. In the 1st Semi-Final, which takes place on the 29th Feburary 2020 - just under two weeks time, former winner, Mya Richardson will be making her stage return, alongside other direct finalists from previous years such as Arvin Dalir, Zoe Wilkinson and KAYLEY among other wonderful artists. In the 2nd Semi-Final which takes place a week later, Etela Tomac, who holds Britonisea's 7th best result at World Hit Festival (2nd, 30 points) opens the show but will have to battle against former World Hit Festival winner, Rigas Jengiz and 6 other strong artists. In the 3rd Semi-Final on the 14th March, Semi-Final 1 2018 direct finalists, Petre Lemetre and Kelsey Banques meet once again, where they rival the likes of popular boy trio, J3 to make the Grand Final taking place in Alshkan.

But first, all eyes turn to the beautiful city of Boschke and their Newbury Park Arena. Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020 begins in less than 2 weeks with the #VM2020 advertisements painting the five host cities of 2020 already. Many nations across the Multiverse will broadcast the contest, and despite the upcoming clashes with the WorldVision Song Contest and World Hit Festival, BVC/BITC are looking at this year being the most-watched to date.

Important Announcement re Overseer

Postby Britonisea » Mon Feb 17, 2020 11:23 am

WORLD HIT FESTIVAL ANNOUNCE: HIGH IMPORTANCE (re Overseer)

I am very grateful for those who decided to vote, however, on the list of those who can vote, only 14% voted which I feel doesn't accurately represent the World Hit Festival, its users and what they would like going forward at the World Hit Festival.

I have consulted both Natanya and Darkmania about this, suggesting an extension until Saturday 18:00 GMT, a day before the Opening of JWHF7 (which will be opened by me - but the new Overseer will help out there). They have both agreed that this would be okay.

For transparency-sake, I am happy to reveal the results as of 18:00 GMT Monday 17 February (the previous Overseer Election deadline) after our new Overseer has been chosen to show the changes that have happened over the week, if any.

The new deadline will be Saturday 22 February 18:00 GMT where I encourage ALL members who can vote to vote.

I will post another updated post on the OOC thread explaining how to vote and will paste the link here.

I have also moved the deadline of Sign-Ups to 22nd February 18:00 GMT as well. Here is a reminder of how to vote.

5TH WORLD HIT FESTIVAL OVERSEER ELECTIONS

Now that the 17th of February has passed, it is time to begin the next phase of the World Hit Festival overseer elections.

Please also take into account the Overseer's Curiosity answers that both candidates make to further understand how they would run the Festival.

2. France
3. Spain

RANK SYSTEM
Borda Count/Instant Run off Voting.

You will have until 22 February 2020, 18:00 GMT to cast your votes. I encourage all eligible nations to vote. Remember, this very election could well decide the fate of the World Hit Festival, so I encourage all of you make to your voices heard.

Betting Odds for VM2020!

Postby Britonisea » Tue Feb 18, 2020 8:52 am

Image
Odds for VM2020 Revealed!

The hype for Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020, Britonisea's annual National Final, is mounting as the anticipated Betting Odds have been revealed for the first time...

In 2020, there are many acts that are returning to Vha Mehlodhivestoile in the hope to bag the increased cash prize £200,000 BPS and a ticket to an upcoming WorldVision Song Contest. They will have to not only rival the 2020 debuting acts, but they also have fierce competition from this who have been automatically qualified to the Battle Stage and the Grand Final which takes place in Alshkan on the 4th April.

The odds are an agreed average between Britonisea's biggest betting companies, which all the companies will be using ahead of the Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2020 Grand Final. As said in the picture below, the odds are calculated using different methods (from company to company). This includes, but is not limited to, bets already placed (if more bets are placed for one act, the public believe that the act has more of a chance of winning), insider information regarding each of the acts and past performances at not only Vha Mehlodhivestoile but those who have already participated in the WorldVision and World Hit Festival competitions before.

Below you can find the list:

Image

  1. From this list, one of the most popular urban boy group, J3 tops the betting odds, with a lot of hype being surrounded with them. Without a doubt, J3 will not find it hard to receive points from the Britonish Televote, who despite having only 25% say in the Semi-Finals, make the crucial decisions on whether you make it through to the next round or not. J3 topped the Britonish Televote in their Semi-Final in 2017 and 2018, with many expecting them doing the same in 2020. Some superstitious folks will say that since 3 seems to be their lucky number, performing 3rd in Semi-Final 3 for their 3rd VM participation might bring them success this time around.
  2. Second place is KAYLEY who rose to fame because of her 2018 Vha Mehlodhivestoile participation with the Britonish song, "Junterapten" which missed out on the opportunity to win VM2018 by a single point. KAYLEY is one of three former VM runner-ups participating at the 2020 Vha Mehlodhivestoile. KAYLEY is performing 8th in Semi-Final 1 which has a 100% Direct Finalist rate since 2017. KAYLEY looks to be in a good position to get herself into her second Grand Final.
  3. Jun-iči Hoch & Ekkehard Liinamaa (Direct Finalist) are returning to Vha Mehlodhivestoile this year despite having representing Britonisea at the 74th WorldVision Song Contest, where the pair placed 2nd place with 113 points. While the song "On My Own" was not a hit with the Britonish fandom at the start (placing 5th at their Semi-Final), the song did gain popularity by the end, especially after the duo's stellar performance in Polkopia. Many did not expect either of them to return this year, but as they are, and still are fresh in the minds of VM watchers from last year, they round off the top 3 for most likely to win according to the Bookies.
  4. Joint fourth placers are Etela Tomac (SF2, 1st) and Kelsey Banques (SF3, 8th), who came 2nd and 3rd in previous Vha Mehlodhivestoile's. Etela Tomac came 2nd at Vha Mehlodhivestoile 2017, behind the eventual winner Mehkl Maddox Ajax. Etela Tomac represented Britonisea at World Hit Festival where she came 2nd place and was the reason why Britonisea hosted in Junterapten the edition after. Etela was highly praised in Britonisea, with many fans being excited with what she has to offer this edition with her Izmeduan song. Kelsey Banques came 3rd in 2018 behind the tight Taron Woods/KAYLEY fight at the top. Kelsey went on to represent Britonisea with a different song at the 66th WorldVision Song Contest where she came 2nd place with 129 points - Britonisea's 3rd highest score ever. Kelsey is one of the most well-known singers in Britonisea and so she would definitely have a strong following behind her.
  5. Others in the top 12 include Zoe Wilkinson, Petre Lemetre, Rigas Jengiz and Arvin Dalir - who have all qualified directly to the Grand Final in the past. Justs Prazeres and Lucie Dagenham both are debuting at Vha Mehlodhivestoile with both already having participated in WorldVision and World Hit Festival before. In the case of the 2016, 2017 and 2019 winners; Mini, Taron and Alyxhia, all acts were debuting despite already having represented Britonisea in the past - could history repeat itself? David Kiser is also in the mix at 15/1.
  6. The highest qualifier to the Battle Stage is Pietro Quesada from Scotatrova, who's song is completely (reportedly) is completely in Scotatrovan.

Vha Mehlodhivestoile begins in only 11 days, with the first 10 songs being revealed on the 25th February 2020 - in less than a week's time.

It has already been confirmed that Achaean Republic, Axuva, Besen, Nightom and Estogium will all be broadcasting Vha Mehlodhivestoile with more international broadcasters expected to be revealed over the next week...
