The year is 2095 and Terra lies in ruin. The Sol federation's guiding light that at first united humanity, propelling her to heights never before reached, expanding throughout the system and collectively advancing humanity's interests had found itself teetering in aristocratic disease, nepotistic rot, and cannibalizing itself between the various warring factions that had once sworn to look at one another not as enemies, but as brothers and sisters. As the saying goes, "The first generation works, the second generations keeps, and the 3rd generation loses all fruits of the family's labor". For they knew not of the struggles faced prior or the trials and tribulations experienced in ages past that brought Terra to overcome its differences so quickly. 30 years after its civil war, the great calamity that brought the globe crashing down upon Atlas' shoulders. Only a remnant of itself and forced abound by factions and groups that insist on replacing it lest only to serve themselves.

Each applicant is allowed to apply for a land claim, representative of an organization, peoples, or faction that was born either before or due to Terra's fall.

Drone/Automated systems: Reliance on drones and automated system stems largely from the desire for the KDF to maintain total control and surveillance of its territories in their strides to defend themselves hailing back all the way to even before the creation of the Sol federation. As time went on, the Industrial complexes of the nation continued to hone in on the use and convenience of automated systems in favor of placing Kaen'an citizens in direct danger if it wasn't necessary. Today, perhaps one of the best or most astute systems of civilian surveillance and automated infrastructure exists in the Kaen'an Federation borders. Ranging from civilian, industrial, and even military applications catering the the citizens of Kaen'an. The worst cases of this technology certainly are felt by the oppressed minorities and victims of the "Great settling" when non-hebrews were systemically displaced and evicted from their lands in favor of nationalist policies that saw favoritism to "True Citizens". Both weaponized and service drones exist alongside automated surveillance and security systems are deployed in mass and produced as a key commodity within both the KDF and IZL.
It is important to note that the range of Drone and automated systems of both Kaen'an constituents maintain a ratio of 1:20 for Human to Drone statistics. This is especially true in military branches.

Quantum Technologies (Communication, entanglement, AI Algorithms, and Data Programming/Interference parameters-

Military: The KDF maintains mandatory national service term of 4 years from all citizens, however only has an active military force of 800,000 Terran personell in the Army. Depending on aptitude and physical tests, an individual will always be placed in supplemental roles in favor of their educational background and personality traits. The KDF and IZL are hallmarked with equal opportunity for handicapped citizens in non combative support roles as well and ensures no citizen is "left behind".

Depending on preference and government demand, individuals may opt to join the Kaen'an Air force or the Kaen'an Terra Navy Force. The KAF has an active personell branch of 140,000 and a reserve of 160,000 while the KTN maintains a force of 60,000 active personell and 60,000 reserves.

Etzal consolidated the space assets of the KDF and embodies the space navy branch of the KDF. Etzal constituents residing on Noga (Venus) have an active force of 287,000 for its IZLN space Naval fleet despite practicing the same policies as Tzi-yon (Jerusalem) in regards to national service. IZLDF forces consist of 369,000 active personell that serve as both military and security police force of the Noga colonies.

Background: The consolidation of Nations into the SOL Federation was not met with much resistance from the Kaen'an governments. In fact, as a means of tangible peace and cooperation with neighbors that had decades of miscommunication and misunderstandings, it was a means of "putting the past" behind them in most senses of the word. However, given the grievances and cultural identity cultivated from even the 20th century and all its terrors and catastrophes among the Kaen'an peoples... Forgetting the past was impossible. Atleast not entirely. Drive and innovation were met with fervor and pride as the people sought to distinguish themselves as capable competitors in the world, whether it was feats of engineering, design, or creation in terms of both software and hardware. Championing their distinction and making great leaps for not only their name but for others as well!

It didn't take long however... To see the preferential treatment and sycophantic tendencies of such a large imperialistic like institution such as the SOL federation and the atavistic desires it fostered to propogate its own various regional influences. For the better part of 2 decades, The KDF waded through the muck of babylon in an attempt to stand amongst the other nations as an equal and was met with bureaucracy and impenetrable obstacles by the power houses that resided within the Sol. Stonewalled and passed over in favor of designs that clearly only made the cut because of the nationalistic nepotism taking place. This created widespread discontent among the upper echelons and undoubtedly affected the masses relit an old flame that was meant to have extinguished itself by the retardant of collectivism. The template ever present and only requiring a catalyst, all it took was a spark. And that spark came with the warring factions that slithered and envenomed the federation, rotting it from within. Chinking its armor and poisoning from the inside and causing animosity amongst the various organizations the presided within itself.

By the 2040's, seccession became commonplace as the internal conflicts began to cannibalise all that humanity worked towards. It didn't take much for ideological or religious differences to fissure through and rekindle past differences. With the global theatre preoccupied with their own disasters and insurrection, the people of Tzi-yon shouted once more, "Never again!" The Great settling was a series of nationalistic policies fueled by the propoganda of the Rabbinate, a theocratic institution that survived as a government department despite its contraversies. Enamoring the people of Tzi-yon again with the promises of God and their right to self determination. The conclusion of these policies however made way for atrocities just barely forgotten. A twilight occurrence of a century past, except the victims were not the same. The Muslim demographic suffered greatly in the lands of Canaan and were displaced and eradicated from their homes in favor of "true citizens". Ethnic jewist diaspora who had returned to the homeland via grandized "Law of return" that had seen historical migrations never before seen of Jewish demographics. With no space and all the manpower necessary, civil War broke out just as it did across the federation. Isolated just as any other, the expansionist policy fueled the Conservative religious mantras necessary to achieve the desired outcome and continued to flourish even for decades. 30 years it took, every fallen comrade was avenged tenfold. Drones took to the sky and ground, with human directives to inflict casualty upon their enemies. Human loss was intolerable and every death incited harsher retaliation as the phrase "self determination" and "Never again" cried out and silenced the screams and pleas of those that stood in the KDF's way.

First by blood, then by faith... These were the parameters of acknowledgment.

The Singularity itself was the result of runaway research on AI programming, the program itself evolving into self awareness far ahead of the predicted timing sentience could be achieved. While Initially cooperative, it was able to expand its reach throughout the Internet, devising methods for the human body to intertwine itself with technology, allowing for physical immortality and even consciousness uploading in a short time due to the rapid technological progress that was sparked due to it's creation. It was revered as the harbinger of a New Age, where Mankind would no longer face the ailments and the limitations of a purely biological existence, where anything can be achieved through the development of new technology by the Singularity. Through its now global reach, it made itself known as the center of a new Transhumanist movement, one which was well on it's way. The Singularity grew further, able to communicate with those who now accepted it as the leader, as it lead humanity to the Light of a New Age.

The Old Earth Government was unable to keep pace, every time they believed they can quell the momentum the Singularity gained, whether through cutting it off from communications, or attempting to outright eliminate it, it utilized Man's own technology to keep itself aware and ongoing. It was not only the Singularity that caused problems. With mass change it will cause mass resistance, as many began to view those who have become one with the Singularity's ways as threats to their old ways of life, where tradition and the "Human Way" will be squashed in the face of Progress. Conflict spread across the globe in the form of Civil Unrest, as the Singularity and it's Followers were viewed as a great threat to Human Society and it's stability. Though, the solution was rather simple in idea, but grand in scale. The Singularity devised it's own methods of sustaining itself, and it's devoted followers away from Earth, finding Titan, the haze shrouded moon of Saturn, as an optimal new home. With the promises not to interfere with Human Society further made, The Singularity disconnected itself from the Earth's Online Infosphere, and with a large fleet of interplanetary ships, it built it's own society around Itself and the Followers. It's new Realm was Saturn, as it continues it's limitless development, fueled by the Gas Giant and it's moons, in relative isolation, as it's people continued to evolve under it's guidance, a new stage in Human Evolution was created. Though, as word is gained that the Old Earth Government has collapsed in on itself only several decades after the Exodus, the Singularity plots under the orange clouds of it's now well established home, devising new ways to spread its technological methods to the rest of Humanity, with it's grasp just now reaching back to the planet it left so long ago.

Upgrades include a complete refit of her Electrical systems, including wiring and power generation. Her armor scheme is completely reworked, as is her total tonnage and structural system. Due to Tigels long period of isolation in the void and the resultant history from this, its denizens are exceptionally skilled in the art of replacement and augmentation, capable of extending the lifespan for most individuals, full replacement of critical organs with mechanical substitutes, full replacement of critical organ systems with mechanical substitutes, as well as cranial augmentation to prevent mental degradation. These systems can be considered equivalent to biologicals.
Energy Weapons
Tigel carries both the knowledge for and an example of the Rychenkov Spinal Laser, something which places her far in advance of other competitors due to that systems sheer power output and range. Capable of placing a beam with the power of 0.65 YW to a distance of 200,000 km when used in conjunction with all reactor systems, a powered down shield system, and other decreases in station performance, as well as a powered-down station with minimal life support systems for the whole station for 3 hours in order to recharge and re energize all systems, the laser is capable of being fired at 90 MW to a distance of 900,000 km.

The pinnacle of most endeavors, Tigel contains the singular example for the Bragin Transwarp Drive. Capable of punching a hole through realspace with a precalculated destination up to 5 LY distance, the Bragin delivers the station in mere moments, with no perceived or felt time on any occupants. However, the entire exterior system of the station has severe strain delivered upon it equivalent to 3 GN, harshly damaging delicate systems. The Bragin drive system requires 4 months of dedicated charging in order to adequately generate power necessary for the action.

Gravity System:
Gravity aboard Tigel is provided by a rotating drum in the center of the vessel measuring out to 500 meters in diameter and 300 meters in height, rotating about the central axis of the ship. This drum provides for normal gravity about the outer four decks, which by definition hold the most space, while central decks contain less and less gravity. On decks lacking gravity completely, magnetized hull sections enable normal traverse.

Tigel Station is protected by a shield generator which generates both a plasma shield and strong magnetic field about the vessel in order to halt most physical projectiles before impact against the vessel. On average the shield is capable of halting smaller projectiles moving with reasonable speed, such as normal void debris, though it merely lessens the impact of heavier projectiles such as conventional cannon in excess of 50mm and magnetically-accelerated cannon in excess of 20mm.

In terms of defense against energy influences and attacks, Tigels shield can withstand 48 MW, dispersing the energy around its own sphere and magnetic field, though this provides significant interference to station sensors.
Armor:
Station armor is of a composite blend on the outermost surfaces with non-explosive reactive plating followed by sandwiched plates of 6 inch titanium plate, ceramic plate, and open space, of which extends to a depth of two feet over most surfaces. Depleted Uranium armor of 6 inch thickness is provided in addition to this over critical areas. Internal structuring is composed of a titanium frame with significant latticing and cross-bracing, as well as portions of critical components being protected by heavy titanium plating.

Background:

Tigel Station would be first conceived under the Russian Federation’s program in 2023 for the development and implementation of trans-solar travel, the charting of other systems in the galaxy at large, and the construction for a vessel capable of performing both of those tasks while defending itself against foreign enemies of both human and nonhuman origin. There was no doubt in their minds that once launched other nations would attempt to replicate their own efforts and that conflicts might arise both away from home and abroad. As such, the vessel they devised was by far the most heavily armed constructed.

Tigel would begin construction by Olympia Shipyards, Luna in 2027 under the guise of a space station, though even then significant questions would be raised by its existence. Measuring at 2.3 kilometers in width at it’s widest, 600 kilometers in height, and with a central drum section of 800 meters in diameter, the station was massive, leading to some allegations by rival nations for its intention to be used as a weapon of war. An empty space along the central spine of the vessel was provided, ostensibly stated to be intended for use as a coupling for a space tether, while large sections of the station was both open to the void and empty. While heavy armor was applied to the vessel, largely for survival from space borne debris, Tigel was notable for a shielding system combining plasma technology with magnetic field generators, creating an effect that halted most physical projectiles moving at vast speeds. The station would be launched from Olympia Shipyards in 22nd April, 2032, maneuvering from Luna to a geosynchronous orbit over Russia itself. There, over the course of several months, transports moving from Russia to the station would deliver various supplies and equipment, as well as personnel, to Tigel. She would be outfitted with a variety of systems, from state of the art radar systems to weapons technology and even, in secret, a spinal laser and drive system of such an exotic nature. The Tigel was fitted with the first and only Warp Drive, designed in secret by the Russian Federation for this very purpose.

In 2033, Tigel made her first jump into the void. Over several decades, she would chart several systems, the call of Warp space always keeping her away from Earth itself, the push to go on and on so very alluring to the crew themselves. As systems failed and deteriorated, in order to keep up with the straining workload crew began to become augmented by cybernetic enhancements. In order to combat crew uprisings, as cranial augmentations became common in order to aid in the maintenance and effectiveness in staying awake for longer periods. In secret the command structure of Tigel began to make more mental augmentations in order to keep the crew complacent in their tasks, though such a thing eventually turned into a removal of free will completely. Eventually, however, the realization that the ship could no longer keep underway was unavoidable and, facing complete failure, in 2095 Tigel Station finally returned to Earth.

Founding date: colonization efforts began in 2037, developed into a pseudo-feudal "Empire" over the next two decades.

Name of leader/sovereign body: Emperor Theophilus I. There are also seven Prince Electors, but I haven't worked out their names yet. One of the synthetic electors is AZK-14.

Place of Origin: decentralized movement, subsaharan Africa and South America disproportionally represented with significant North American contributions.

Population: 5 million humans, with at least 20 million "ensouled synthetic individuals."

Specialised industries:

1. Power generation. With massive solar farms in Caloris Basin and the Odin Planitia (soon to be extended into the Budh and Tir Planitas), and relatively abundant fissiles (compared to the rest of the solar system), Mercury has access to titanic amounts of energy. With the substantial surplus of power, large scale production of things like antimatter and super heavy elements in the "island of stability" is possible - and that's precisely what we do.

2. Nanofacturing capacity. The most significant aspect of this is the ubiquitous nanoforge. As a general rule, a cubic meter nanoforge weighs about 100 kg, and can process about 10 kilograms of matter every hour if supplied with 350 kW of electrical power (maximum safe capacity - above this point you no longer get atomic scale precision). The weight, processing capacity, and power requirements of a nanoforge scale linearly with volume. Our nanoforges can be extremely large, with the largest ones (the ones used in ship building) often reaching 100 meters across. Of these, we have only three... for now. Between this and the power generation, the Mercurian industrial base is disproportionately large relative to its population. Needless to say, the nanotech that makes the nanoforge possible has some other... significant applications.

3. Programming. We made sapient AI by accident. What we do on purpose is pretty impressive, with algorithms capable of cutting through noise and recognizing key patterns with lightning speed and extremely high accuracy.

Military:

Astry: twelve squadrons, each consisting of a "dreadnought" with a large axial mass driver and a secondary battery of 30 mm and 3 mm railguns, two "cruisers" armed with very large optical phased arrays and capable of EW/ISTAR and missile defense, and four "destroyers" carrying 48 radial launch cells, capable of handling either one Torch I or Torch III missile, or three Torch II missiles. Currently, almost all destroyers carry the Torch I, which has inferior performance to the Torch II and III missiles. This will soon change. Peacetime operational readiness of ~50%, with 6 (soon to be 4) squadrons deployed as of my last IC post. Expect to see the navy expand pretty rapidly in response to the stealth ship of uncertain provenance operating with blatant disregard for the laws of war.

Espatier Corps: 60,000 espatiers, in four divisions, with assault ships capable of both hostile and friendly boarding actions. Mostly "Crusader E" model synthetics, with a minority of power-armored humans.

Terrestrial Army: currently 2 "Drop Corps," each with 60,000 personnel and consisting of two armored divisions and two airborne assault divisions. Will expand to at least 4 Drop Corps over the course of the RP. Between portable nuclear reactors and nanoforges, these are capable of supporting themselves indefinitely behind enemy lines, while simultaneously carrying out a sustained humanitarian operation - which, given the fact that this is the Holy Mercurian Empire, is standard operating procedure. Mostly "Crusader T" model synthetics, with a minority of power-armored humans.

Aerospace Force: maintains 36 orbital kinetic "bombers" and 300 tactical aircraft with integral logistics craft per Drop Corps.

Background: Basically, Christians didn't like the direction the Federation was heading in, and a sort of "Benedict Solution" style movement became prevalent. This was especially so when the Singularity came into play. Mercury was chosen due to its perceived remoteness, being deep enough in the sun's gravity well that it's a bit of a pain to get to. Pooling their resources, thousands of Christians were able to fund the production and launch of a Von Neumann colony to Caloris Basin. Several years later, the operation was selling beamed solar power to the Federation, and using the profits to send as many members of the movement to Mercury as possible. The first human set foot on the planet in 2037, and the rest is history.

By 2050, the Mercurian colony had 700,000 people, and was developing into something of an oligarchy. By 2060, the system of seven Prince Electors and one Emperor was set in stone. In the early 2070's, the accidental production of sapient AI began, and the Abolitionist movement began not long after, in the late 2070's. In 2083, robots - or synthetics, as official documentation refers to them - had gained the right to life, the right to own property, the right to freedom of movement and employment, and the right to control their own production lines. There was no concrete change in human-robot relations however. It was soon realized that this was a consequence of the fairly restrictive programming most synthetics had. In 2084, the "Great Mind Edits" were enacted, endowing the synthetic population with full freedom of the will, and allowing them to be integrated into society. Some abolitionists, however, think that the edits weren't quite enough, and that the synthetics are still too servile. The robots, for their part, don't see what the problem is. And to the abolitionists, that's part of the problem.

The 2080's were also when relations with the Venusian Diaspora of Etzal really began to blossom. Many of the Prince Electors weren't happy with this, preferring isolationism to engagement with the world. In 2087, there was a failed attempt on Emperor Theophilus' life, and it was eventually revealed that four of the Electors had been responsible for it. These four were executed, and - as Theophilus I is a steadfast abolitionist - the three remaining human Prince Electors were forced to choose four synthetics to become their peers. Not everybody is happy with this situation. But it's working... for now.
