Taeshan is an icy land. Most of the year is spent in winter and that is one of the things that has long hardened the National team into a defense unit,. It will likely snow on the matchday. Unless you're on Williams Isle. The only part of Taeshan that is not one of the 8 Islands. Williams Isle will host Group 9 and is that little part of Taeshan that is in Mainland Taeshan. Taeshan will, as is custom, Be in Group A, and be team 1. The rest of the draw will be completely random. The host stadiums will follow by group. The first game listed will be played in Stadium 1, with the other game in stadium 2. The Playoff games will be played in the "home" A stadium of the highest remaining seed in the match. The Play In games will be played in the 2nd listed Stadium of the "home" island of the higher seed in the bracket that that play-off winner will advance to. The Semi-finals will be played at Stairway to Heaven and X Island Metropark. The 3rd place game will be played a The Haberdashery, and the final at Atlantea Coliseum. Playoffs will be bracketed with the Winners seeded 1-10, and the 2nd placed teams seeded 1-10. The 10 group winners, plus the top two 2nd place teams will get a bye to the Round of Sixteen.

Tiebreakers will be Points, H2H, GD, GA

Sarzonia's Under 18 National Team (The Baby Stars)

In an effort to revitalise the Sarzonian football programme, the powers that be at the Incorporated Football Federation have decided to establish an Under 18 national team to improve the pipeline from young talent to the senior national team.

With Sarzonia's surprise performance in World Cup qualifying, leading up to a semifinal appearance in the Cup of Harmony, the momentum for football in Sarzonia hasn't been this powerful since the Stars won World Cup XXII.

Thus, the team began interviews for technical director and manager to help the Under 18 programme get underway. The IFF have named 65-year-old Ganz Ijak as technical director for the team, nicknamed the Baby Stars by some in the media.

Sarzonia Stars

Manager: Diogo Avarel (52)
The young apprentice to the late Franz Braddock during the legendary manager's tenure with the senior Stars national team, Avarel beat out four other candidates for the Under 18 national team starting role. He previously served as national team manager for his native Cafundéu. His experience is likely to benefit a young Stars team, even if the team is new to international competition.
Assistant Manager: Tim Lankford (47)
One of the four would-be managers Avarel beat out for the job, Lankford impressed Avarel with his attention to defence and will guide the Stars defensive unit.
Assistant Manager: Joe Carson (43)
Carson was a midfielder in the Sarzonian Football Confederation prior to its relegation to the second level of the Sarzonian football pyramid behind the Cyanea Joint League. He will work with the midfielders.
Assistant Manager: Matt Lynch (36)
The longtime Stars striker is in his first role as an assistant manager. He will work with the forwards.
Goalkeepers Coach: Horace Sandt (39)
Sandt was the goalkeeper who backstopped the Stars lone World Cup championship. He'll work formally with this team in the unofficial capacity he has with his brother Carlton Sandt on the senior national team.

Hoang Khang chases down a long ball kicked up field from his friend Hai Anh. With a deft first touch to bring the ball cleanly in front, he bursts down the right flank with incredible speed. The left back opponent tries to closes him down fast with a sliding tackle, but Khang quickly dodges and brings the ball to his left to cut inside, leaving the hapless defender sliding all the way to the sideline. Spotting his forward friend Bao Lam cutting across the 2 center backs, Khang immediately makes the through ball splitting the big gap between the left center back and left back. Caught off guard, there is no chance for the center backs to cover the space in time. Bao Lam, being one of the most clinical finishers on the team, makes no mistake. It's 2-0 for his side. The coach whistles to end the game.

After the practice match, Bao Lam pats Hoang Khang on the back in the dressing room: "Great pass mate! But stop cutting inside already, it's getting really old now. I can see it 300 miles away"

"P*** off dude! It's brilliant. I could have just scored it myself" said Khang, throwing his socks at his annoying friend.

Lam dodges the stinky projectiles coming up at him at breakneck speed. The only thing in their way now, unfortunately, is Hai Anh's face, who just walked up behind Lam. A slight "splat" is heard.

"Goddamn I just took a shower, Lam. And you, the hell was that for?" he yells, clearly disgusted by the smell of sweaty feet.

Khang grabs his socks, trying to ease the clearly angered defender with a sorry smile: "Sorry, I'll be more accurate next time. By the way, it was one hell of a long ball from you back there. We know we can count on you for gifts like that ."

Hai Anh says begrudgingly: "Of course. What will you guys do withou..."

He was cut off by the coach, who gathered the whole team into the dressing room. As the teenagers settle down into their seats, the coach says: "Alright boys, as you may have known, the federation recently announced that they will be selecting a team of under-18 to participate in the Sporting World Cup in Taeshan. Well...I just received the selections this morning. Now, I know some of you will be disappointed for not making it, but don't dwell on it. You're still young, there will be other chances if you keep training hard and impress, okay? There will be 3 players going to Taeshan this time, and they are Hai Anh, Hoang Khang and Bao Lam. Everyone, please give our representatives an applause."

Hoang Khang can't believe his ears as applause and cheers spread across the room. He is going to play for the national U18 team! And even more unbelievable, he gets to play with his 2 best friends. All 3 of them knew of the news about the selection days ago, but none believed they would actually get the chance to represent their small club at the national level, and their country. This is surreal!

The coach looks at the 3 boys with pride as they are surrounded by their teammates. Long before the news arrived, he knew these boys deserve the call-up. They are, without doubt, the three brightest rising stars in his academy: Hai Anh, a commanding figure at his defense, both physically and mentally, who instills confidence in everyone playing around him; Hoang Khang, a gifted and versatile ambidextrous winger with a touch of eccentricity that no opponent can underestimate; and Bao Lam, the most clinical and no-nonsense forwards he has ever trained here. At the age of 17, all of them possess great skills, great confidence in their abilities, and most importantly, great conviction that one day they will reach the heights they always dream of. Those qualities and years of hard work paid off for them. Along with other promising talents of the country, they will get a chance to compete with the world. Challenging it is going to be, but for now, they are living one of the happiest moments of their lives.

And there they are, their names, proudly appear on the official roster of the Mavinet U18 team!

Andrew Risk takes the reins for this addition of the Sporting World Cup, bringing with him vast quantities of experience as a youth coach. Risk has worked with several SPL and First Division sides, but most recently was head coach at the Christopheran branch of the National Academy. He is likely to employ an attacking style, making the most of the pace in this current squad. His number two is William Wall, who is a recent graduate of the National Coaching Programme, having previously worked with young players at grassroots level. David Leiwes and Hannah Russell both stay in the set up, as first-team coach and Goalkeeping coach respectively, with Duncan Collison remaining as team doctor.

GK. Laurence Lee, 17, Regional Development Side PCR Image Height: 191cm Weight:72kg
Elspeth Forres, current number two at Cornellians, will start in goals for this tournament. The eighteen-year-old was exceptional in the Schottic Junior Championship last season, and her communication skills mean she gets the nod just ahead of Úna MacMurchadh, who has also done well with Project Olimpo. Laurence Lee, who worked with Risk at development level, travels with the squad as backup.

RB Hiro Del Duniun, 18, Willox Street Pirates Image Height: 174cm Weight: 59kg
RB. Kirk Dunne, 17, Handon United Image Height: 181cm Weight: 61kg
LB Jojo Ayoub, 17, Willox Street Pirates Image Height: 188cm Weight: 72kg
LB Kyle Skea, 18, FC Soessch Image Height: 175cm Weight: 67kg
CB Nicolas Strathspey, 18, Lammerton Image Height: 192cm Weight: 75kg
CB Viktor Carmichael, FC Soessch Image Height: 185cm Weight: 70kg

CB. Mark Gulfery, 18, Buganda Regional Academy Image Height: 195cm Weight: 78kg
Schottia have a fair bit of experience at centre-half, with both Nick Strathspey and Viktor Carmichael no stranger to first team action. They made eight and five first team appearances at Lammerton and Soessch respectively last season, and should bring a resilience to the team. Wingback duo, Hiro Del Duniun and Jojo Ayoub were first team regulars at the Pirates’ feeder side in the second tier last season, and leftback Ayoub, in particular, is tipped for big things. On the bench, Mark Gulfery is the first Banija based player to be called up to the Schottia squad at any level, while Kyle Skea and Kirk Dunne should be solid enough if called upon.

CM Kier Myton, 18, Dundee Image Height: 187cm Weight: 71kg
CM Willy Koop, 18, Anchors Image Height: 188cm Weight: 74kg
CM William Carpänion, 17, Willox Street Pirates Image Height: 175cm Weight: 63kg

CM Mira Lawoti, 17, Handon United Image Height: 159cm Weight: 60kg
CM Philip Ferguson, 16, Port Sebastian Image [i]Height: 181cm Weight: 68kg

CM Jamie Bow, 17, Regional Development Side B Image Height: 183cm Weight: 65kg
Risk will start a midfield three, with Kier Myton and Willy Koop sitting deep, just behind William Carpänion. Myton is one of the rising stars at Dundee, and alongside Chromatika based Koop, should bring a physicality to this young side. Along with Ayoub, Carpänion is one of the Pirates’ top prospects at the moment, and with money tight at the Christopheran club, his graft and imagination might be called upon sooner rather than later. Also in the squad, Mira Lawoti is a tireless runner, who has been knocking on the door at Handon United, and Philip Ferguson, the youngest member of the squad, is making steady progress at Port Sebastian. Jamie Bow, of the Lammerton Regional Development branch, completes the complement.

RW Alice O’Brien, 18, Project Olimpo Jutsii Image Height: 168cm Weight: 52kg
RW Noah Black, 17, Lammerton Image Height: 185cm Weight: 67kg
LW Kendra Ramsey, 18, Port Patrick United Image Height: 179cm Weight: 64kg [C] On loan from Chenoworth Rovers Image
LW Scott Knoxburgh-Brann, 16, Handon United Image Height: 184cm Weight: 68kg
Risk is blessed with a fair bit of pace in attack, with Alice O’Brien and Kendra Ramsey looking set to start in the wide areas. O’Brien is a tricky little winger, currently on the books at Project Olimpio in Jutsii, with team captain, Ramsey, out on loan at Port Patrick to get first team experience. Lammerton’s Noah Black, and sixteen-year-old United star, Scott Knoxburgh-Brann, also represent good options on the bench.

ST Romi Schultze, 17, Senso-Shukujo Ladies HS Image Height: 170cm Weight: 59kg
ST Ethyl Notley-Grail, 18, Bara Waves Image Height: 186cm Weight: 66kg
There’s not a lot between the two players vying for the lone striker spot, with Romi Schultze probably just ahead of Ethyl Notley-Grail. Schultze’s is one of those rags to riches stories, having benefited from the Schottic Outreach Scheme, before wining a move to the All-Hinodejin Youth League. Notley-Grail was on top form for Bara Waves in the Junior Championship last season, and will be looking to make the step up to senior football soon.

Player roles: Captain: Kendra Ramsey | Vice-Captain: Viktor Carmichael | Penalties: Kendra Ramsey | Free Kicks: Willy Koop (R) – Kendra Ramsey (L) | Corners: Willy Koop (R) - Kendra Ramsey (L)

Starblaydia won the Under-18 World Cup at their first attempt four editions ago at Royal Equestria Stadium. The SFA had declined to send a squad to the previous six editions, but their reaction to a steadily decreasing level of senior team performance since the Third Place at the 56th Atlantian Oceania Confederation of Association Football Cup has been an admirable one. Using this competition to build for the future, Ázëwyn Fëanáro managed to be successful at the very first attempt, and finish as Runners-up the second, but a poor third cycle means the pressure to perform is now off this team.

Staff
AF. Ázëwyn Fëanáro*, Manager, 4,068
270 Caps, 71 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 level)
Fëanáro scored the winner in the 47th Final against Valanora, denying them a title on their own turf and lifting Starblaydia to the mantle of all-time greatest team. Known for her excellent attacking play, range of passing and great eye for goal that lifts her to second in the all-time goalscorers list too, by virtue of a nearly 1-in-4 ratio, Ázëwyn Fëanáro is a symbol of grace, power and beauty from Starblaydia's golden age, some hundred and twenty-five years ago when the Cup was in its 40s. It is these qualities that the SFA managed to recapture with Fëanáro at the helm for the 78th World Cup Qualifiers, bringing her trademark poise and piercing yell to the touchlines after more than a decade of national failures. Considered to be by far the most successful and beloved manager in Starblaydia's recent history, and at this point may well be the manager for eternity.

JM. Jerzy Makuszewski, Assistant Manager, 78
83 Caps, 0 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 level)
Known as "Chef" by those who can pronounce his surname correctly, Makuszewski took up the mantle of "Best in the World" Lucas Cable to become Starblaydia's unassailable number one between the posts and wear the captain's armband. Always a fiery character, he can shift from jovial to furious in moments, and is Fëanáro's 'enforcer', barking out orders and remonstrating with players and officials with equal fervour. Age has not wearied his inimitable growling on the sidelines by even a little bit.

ediraf once again innovated beyond all competitors with the Generation Five series of football kits, with this version first debuted at the 82nd World Cup Finals.

Generation Five-B blends a number of Starblaydia's iconic kits from across more than a quarter of a millennium, including the return of side panels and a number on the front, while mixing in new design elements such as the subtle stripes of the away kit. Both proudly sport the five gold stars - representing their record-setting five World Championships at senior level - above the Starblaydi Football Association logo. Starblaydi players will also all be wearing rainbow laces, as a symbol of diversity and inclusion.

SavojarSports.sj - inside reports from all Savojarna
Savojarna announces first-time participation in Sporting World Cup

The Sporting World Cup, the prime U18 competition of the Multiverse, is an important step for young football players that aim to reach for the top. The recent failures of Savojarna on the world stage have prompted the SFFB to reach out to this new opportunity, and to put a team into the Sporting World Cup for the first time in history. The goal for the SFFB is that this experience will make players better prepared for the DBC and the professional game, and to put them into an international window that would facilitate international exchange and development of Savojar players. While some players are already playing professionally in U21 teams of SFS teams, others are playing semi-professionally in football academies affiliated with SFS teams. There are no school sports in Savojarna (at least not on a level that could bring anyone to a professional team); however, there are seven independent sports academies in Savojarna which contain their own teams at the U18 level. Those teams are not directly affiliated with any SFS team, but closely work with regional teams to train their players. Many players from the National Sports Academy teams end up in professional U21 sides, although the best players usually avoid the NSA system.

TEAM

STAFF

Coach: Torbjörn Samuelsson
Age: 36 // Coach since: SWC 10

Coaching Team: Alexey Jotanov, Dmitri Simunov, Asgeir Rundberg
Ages: 45, 37, 62 // Special functions: Technical coach, Mental and Video coach, Physical trainer

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 45

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 51

PLAYERS

Goalkeepers

#1 Sergey Sharin
Position: GK // Age: 18 // Height: 181 cm // Club: FK Torpedo Pawlograd Academy
#12 Morten Henberg
Position: GK // Age: 16 // Height: 193 cm // Club: Motor Johansborg Academy
#21 Ulf Svensson
Position: GK // Age: 18 // Height: 186 cm // Club: NSA Thorsborg

Sharin is by far the most advanced of this crop, being considered a future top SFS goalkeeper. He shows great positional awareness for his age, although it is still lacking due to little experience. He is also very fast on the line, but a lack of height (for Savojar circumstances) means that he gets beaten in reactive battles quite regularly. Svensson is a decent backup who has a good allround game, but somewhat lacks experience at higher levels. He has been a key part in Thorsborg’s NSA team showing the best performance of a non-league academy in years. Morten Henberg is a result of the Savojar tradition of bringing along one young goalie and will probably not play. His strengths are primarily physical and it remains to be seen how he will develop once his height advantage evens out.

Defenders

#2 Gudrinn Jansdottir
Position: CB // Age: 17 // Height: 178 cm // Club: NSA Ejana
#3 Jens Carlsen
Position: CB // Age: 18 // Height: 189 cm // Club: Partisan Sjoedrhavn Academy
#4 Vidkun Nymark
Position: CB // Age: 18 // Height: 193 cm // Club: Libertas Bergheim U21
#5 Lew Karlov
Position: LB // Age: 17 // Height: 177 cm // Club: AFK Savojagrad U21
#16 Ekaterina Antonov
Position: LB // Age: 17 // Height: 168 cm // Club: Mir Nestrovo U21
#17 Bengt Johansen
Position: RB // Age: 18 // Height: 185 cm // Club: NSA Vesterkustslän
#20 Laura Nielsen
Position: RB // Age: 18 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Akademien Dynamo

The central defence relies quite heavily on physicality, a medium that has proven successful on the Savojar youth level. Carlsen and Nymark have both gotten their fair share of experience against speedy competition, and the coaches rely on there being enough body to block out other physical strikers. The duo is getting along well and typically positions itself smartly. On the left side, Karlov is expected to get the call, a defensively solid and uninspired fullback who will rarely make mistakes, but rarely shine either. Antonov fits into the Savojar tradition of speedy, stamina-heavy wingbacks that are a bit of a safety risk. On the right side, Nielsen has little competition as she has a central role in the Dynamo academy team, and has proven an aptitude for the balance of offence and defence. While she is not the fastest, or the best technically, her decision-making is surprisingly advanced for an 18 year old. Johansen is a defensive option who can play on both sides and is well-suited for contesting possession, but overly timid on the ball.

Midfielders

#6 Markko Niskanen
Position: DM // Age: 18 // Height: 181 cm // Club: Savojars Vinge Virkaja U21
#7 Finn Östberg
Position: LM // Age: 18 // Height: 179 cm // Club: Landsmarks Industrie Academy
#8 Lovisa Tedenby -- [C]
Position: CM // Age: 18 // Height: 175 cm // Club: Landsmarks Industrie U21
#10 Patrik Brygg
Position: OM // Age: 18 // Height: 178 cm // Club: FK Sjoedrhavn U21
#13 Anders Fjellberg
Position: RM // Age: 18 // Height: 180 cm // Club: Libertas Bergheim Academy
#14 Adrian Klaebo
Position: DM // Age: 17 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Lokomotive Jarnstad Academy
#15 Kiira Saikkonen
Position: CM // Age: 18 // Height: 173 cm // Club: NSA Viralahti
#19 Georgi Lazarev
Position: CM // Age: 17 // Height: 180 cm // Club: RLSK Pawlograd Academy

In defensive midfield, Samuelsson has a choice of orientation with the defensively oriented and physically strong Niskanen, and the more elegant Klaebo, who is almost reminiscent of a deep-lying playmaker. Because of Klaebo’s tendency to have defensive weaknesses, chances are we will mostly see Niskanen. Next to the DM of choice, there is usually a box-to-box player. Lovisa Mortensson is the team’s captain and first choice, a technically gifted player with an extremely strong work ethic and high energy reserves. However, she is still easily beaten in physicality, and sometimes is over-eager. Kiira Saikkonen is taking similar strengths and weaknesses to an extreme, with her decision-making often being very sketchy, but her technique and her dedication being able to get her out of dicey situations quite often. However, off the ball she is a bit of a risk. Lazarev has gone through the relatively tough RLSK academy, and should be expected to be a conservative and harsh player despite his youth. He is not scared of any fouls, which means he sometimes gets a few more whistles than he should, but he isn’t an unfair player per se.

In the front row, the cornerstone is Patrik Brygg, a playmaking talent. He has extremely good spatial vision and the skill to pass the ball into the required spaces, and has a decent shot as well, although he could use it a bit more. While he is decent at winning back the ball through interceptions, his abilities in a contest are limited. Brygg is generally not the best under pressure; if he doesn’t get space he is prone to overly conservative passing or a mistake. On the sides, Östberg is a defensively responsible two-way player. He has a decent speed and is a superb crosser, but rarely ever seeks the way to the goal or a 1v1 with a defender. He will likely come onto the pitch against highly offensive opponents or to protect a lead. His counterpart, Anders Fjellberg, is slightly reminiscent of Jashkin in his passing accuracy and tendency to pass diagonally into the gap. However, he lacks speed sometimes, and is not as technically gifted as Jashkin.

Attackers

#9 Teemu Jeraväinen
Position: ST // Age: 18 // Height: 191 cm // Club: Transport Hovikkära Academy
#11 Oleg Trikhichev
Position: RF // Age: 17 // Height: 177 cm // Club: Traktor St. Andrei Academy
#18 Justus Rintanen
Position: ST // Age: 18 // Height: 182 cm // Club: Savojars Vinge Virkaja Academy
#22 Sveinn Arnason
Position: MS // Age: 17 // Height: 184 cm // Club: ESK Storevik Academy
#23 Kimi Hartikainen
Position: LF // Age: 17 // Height: 176 cm // Club: Metsuri Virkaja U21

Jeraväinen is the typical Savojar striker: Tall, strong for his age, good at heading and shooting, not really fast unless he has at least thirty metres of run-up. He has been dominant on the U18 level in Savojarna thanks to his physique, but it is unclear if he can push the issue on the international level as well, and if he can persist at the U21 or even professional level yet. His counterpart Rintanen also has a strong physique and a powerful shot, but tends to be more comfortable with the ball on the ground and in close quarters. While a bit faster than Jeraväinen, he is also a rather slow player, however, he is tactically astute and has good offensive positioning. Arnason typically lacks the strength to hold his position, but is good at leveraging his speed to find gaps and is not afraid to shoot from a distance. Defensively, he is the strongest of the three. On the wings, Hartikainen is a typical Savojar left-wing hybrid, willing to pull to the middle and search for an opening. He can leave gaps at the back, but his speed and work ethic often allows him to plug them if the opponents don’t look for an overly fast counter. On the right side, Trikhichev has gone through the Traktor school of extreme offence and often acts more as a striker than as a winger. He is rarely found out at the sidelines and is extremely hard to control thanks to his speed and technique, but because he has also proven hard to control for his coach, he will mostly play when goals are desperately needed.

TACTICS

STYLE: +0.7

Tactics are not the most important at this level, as the players have a bit of a tendency to do whatever, but Samuelsson tries to install some order in the chaos. The defenders tend to stay back, although he tries to introduce the typical Savojar occasional overlap. Tedenby is the core of this team, as she is tasked with carrying the ball up into the offensive half and linking the defence with the front 4. Niskanen largely stays back and swings to the inside if Tedenby is moving up the pitch, which can lead to a sort of axis in the middle. In longer attacks, he drops back between the CB’s while the fullbacks move up into a sort of 3-3-3-1. In offence, a large part of the attack relies on getting the ball to Jeraväinen, although passing back to Brygg or even Tedenby for a long shot is a likely surprise weapon. If behind, the Savojars tend to exchange a defender for another striker and move into a 3-5-2 or even a 3-4-3. If protecting a lead, expect to see the DM’s drop very deep, and potentially have the OM swapped for an extra defender with Tedenby moving up into the hole or the system switching to 4-5-1.

ROLES
Captain: Tedenby => Brygg => Nymark
Free Kicks (direct): Hartikainen (left), Brygg (centre/right)

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Trigram: TRL
Nickname: Trolls
Previous editions of U18 Cup: +2=0-2

Image

COACH
Hendrick KERR. 49-years-old coach, who having already won National League championship, two national cups, one league cup, two Youth League championship and in addition won a second division tournament once. He was always looked for a young talents, gave them a chances to play and make many a first-rate players. He lead team in the 9th U18 Cup, first ever international competition for Trolleborg, putting decent display, and was selected by the FA and fans to continue this endeavour. Altought some pundits prophesied that he would now try to apply for the leadership of one of the teams outside the region, he take offer from FA.

Team was assembled around the old backbone, minus players who no longer pass age hurdle. Attacking line have suffered most, and there was some new faces in other lines, altought there was almost the same set of midfielders. As always, most of the players play in the Youth League, where teams affiliated with professional teams play between themselves, some already enter lineups of the Trolleborg first division teams as a backup and some play in the lower leagues as a first-team players.

GOALKEEPERS
Morten Kerr (18-years-old). Younger brother of now-very-famous Kerr who playing for a national team, abd namesake of head coach, Morten is already play a lot of games in the National League, and having a number one shirt in his team last season despite his young age.
Tijn Willems (18). Third keeper in the most recent champions Finn Hurps at the beginning of the season, then move to the second division to have a more playing time, and probably will only enter national team lineup if something went wrong.
Torstein Oirschoot (17). Promising youngster, putting decent performance at the last Youth League championship, and it will be seen how successfull he will be at the national team.

DEFENDERS
Theo Korta (18). Sturdy build, he is not fastest player ever, but read the game easily and arrive whenever most needed. Theo extremely good tackler and man-marker, which he already prove in the both Young League and National League.
Ceel Kolding (18). Already established player in his team, he was known as a “Wall”, because it’s extremely difficult to move into the box past him. Given his age, he have a prospect to became one of the best defenders in the country history.
Jaan Berg (18). Man-marker, who already give a tough time to some established forwards in the league. It’s rumoured, that Finn Hurps have put a eye on him, but right now he has a new contract with his team.
Mart Paauwe (18). He have a very big talent, and with some work he will be a great player in the nearest future. At the last U18 Cup he was a backup for the Korta and Kolding, but right now after convincing display in the Youth League and first team debute he is slightly nearer to the lineup.
Naoise Quirijn (18). Sturdy right defender, he make a very strong impression in Youth League and then transferred to the second league, preferred to play often. He is now regular fixture in his team roster.
Joos Haankrands (18). Left defender, agile and fast, he has everything to be the first-rate star on his position in the years to come.
Gerald Sier (17). Having nickname which roughly translated as a “Little Fox”, this fast-moving agile redhead is useful addition to the team, being played both left and right defender with a view to move forward if opportunity arose.
Aldert Turp (18). Right defender by trade, although not considered the greatest talent in the youth league, this player showed enough talent and composure to draw a coach attention to him.

MIDFIELDERS
Morten Gronquist (18). He is one of the players who play for a team in a second-level league. Raised in the Finn Hurps youth team, he prefer to be transferred to the lower division where he have a place in the line-up and making himself a name because of his good passing and dribbling skills.
Jasper Lucius (18). With a perfect sense of game, he is also can move ball to where it want with only one touch, and he is good with a set-pieces. Already established player in his hometown team, being man-of-the-year in it last year.
Anton Bregelin (18). Right midfielder, usually running fast without tiring back and forth, almost always ended his runs with a good cross. In the last season he showed ability to make crosses at any height
Martijn Knopper (18). Another left midfielder, who play left back in his first years as a player, put some strong performances in the Youth League.
Torstein Halst (18). Right winger\forward, with a good passing, very well in curved shots from outside the box, recently made a league debute and make a good impression.
Stuart Hofland (18). He play in the hometown team in second-level league as a midfielder\defensive midfielder, and already have an accolades to his name, with a good tackling skills and already proven long-range shot.
Karsten Gould (18). Star of the Youth League, this versatile midfielder can also play as a forward if needed. But his passing much better than shooting skills. Rumours linked him with a lot of strong teams.
Kees Hanegem (17). Only one addition to the already existing set of midfielders, Hanegem is played as a defensive midfielder and sometimes if need arose as a central defender.

FORWARDS
Mogren Langepaas (18). Star of the Youth League, best striker of the last it’s championship and play some impressive games for a National League team. His style of play does not look very spectacular, but he has a phenomenal scoring sense and constantly finds gaps in the defensive orders.
Tom Sibon (17). Having recently played in Youth League very good, he got a place in the line-up thanks to serious work on improving his skills, especially in heading.
Karsten Reuser (17). One of the names, which everyone is likely to hear about in the coming years, Reuser is already well-known for his scoring flair, and his manner of the game is similar to fame-covered Stuart Kerr.
Jasper Skjold (17) . Altought very young, he already having a reputation of a great master of avoiding man-marking and put himself where opportunity to put a goal exist.

Everyone expected that team will play fast offensive football. All players is understandable high on adrenaline, but nevertheless prepare to do everything possible to play well, or at least put a decent performance even when odds are overwhelming.

Having already earning themselves a name and a good reputation at both 9th U18 World Cup, BoF, WCQ-84 and CoH, and they surely will make their presence seen and felt everywhere games will be held, with their usual pastimes like marching with songs, waving flags, try local cuisines, putting cultural performances and trying involve everyone around in all of this. They will give out some Trolleborg memorabilia like a ribbons, buttons, scarves and so on. As already become tradition, we ask host countries to allow a parade of fans with a live music before each game and a places for series of exhibitions devoted to gastronomy, culture and national traditions of our country. Also we traditionally ask allocate us some space in the hosting cities to make an exhibition of our cultural heritage and traditions with some traditional sport contests for a local citizens. Alcohol is prohibited in Taeshan, and there was a national curfew, so we we must respect the traditions of the hosts, and thus will make certain adjustments to the our behavior.

MEDIA

Games will be covered by leading sport magazine of the country
Image

and we will publish most interesting stories and comments from our social web T-Friends
Image

Especially from FTST85 account, of the our fans dean.

Image

Of course, TTV will try broadcast all matches in 3D format, albeit technology is only in its first legs, and problems unavoidable
Image

Albeit Taeshan have a rather perfect system of communication, it’s difficult to put through games with a lot of goals, like 8-6 or 9-4, and some colour changing can be viewed – goalkeeper in orange suit will looked like in a yellow or even black one etc.

The Hapilopper Under-18 National Football Team
Image

Full nation name: The Dominion of Hapilopper
Trigramme: HAP
Nicknames: The Thrashers, The Little Haps
Team Colors: Blue, Green and White

Info:
The under-18 Hapilopper National Football Team is participating in its second Sporting World Cup this season, and they are the first generation of the Hapiloppian footballers that were inspired by the HNFT's dominance in the 70th Baptism of Fire and their giant-killing efforts in qualifying for the 83rd and 84th World Cups. A number of these players are tough, brash, physical players that will fight for the ball, and will fight in general. Like most Hapiloppian footballers, their style of play is exciting, physical and very, very contentious. Contrary to the senior team's use of a 4-2-3-1 formation, and similar to the under-21 team, the under-18s will utilize a 4-4-2 formation for most of the SWC.

MANAGER/HEAD COACH: Garnett Sydney
ASSISTANT COACH: Derrick Aitken
GOALKEEPING COACH: Hunter Winston
TRAINER: Byron Freeman
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Bertram Hendry
PHYSIO: Bryan Reynolds

The Fans:
Typically, Hapiloppian fans, including the members of the "Traveling Thrashers" supporters group are among the wildest fans in sport, and promise to be exactly that for the Sporting World Cup. Expect to see fans dancing along to 1970s funk music, slamming drums as loudly as possible, waving their flags, and throwing streamers for every Hapiloppian goal. Hapiloppians like to have fun and they'll find ways to get under the opposing team's skin, within reason, of course. They travel well, they make the most of it, and they'll make your Sporting World Cup a memorable one, in a good way.

Uniforms:
ImageImageImage
From left: The team's primary kit, the secondary kit and the goalkeeper's kit.

These uniforms, as seen here, are the HNFT's designated regular season kits. Should Hapilopper, make the knockout stage of the Sporting World Cup, the team will unveil a gaudier, livelier uniform for its team to wear. These uniforms, the "playoff specials," are a Hapiloppian sports tradition, and a tradition held very dear since the early 1970s when the West Hampton Royals introduced the "playoff special" to the Hapiloppian sports culture.

The Players:
(Starting players in green, typical subs in red)
GOALKEEPERS:
## POS Player Age Team
1 GOL Kenny Shelley 17 Shallow Creek High School (Surrey)
30 GOL Brett Roland 16 Pinkerton North High School (Pinkerton)
60 GOL Duke Stamp 16 Pinkerton South High School (Pinkerton)

The goalkeeping squad for the Little Haps, led by 16-year old Kenny Shelley, has vowed to stop every attack and keep the opposing team's score to a minimum, but with Hapilopper's emphasis on attacking rather than defending, that may be easier said than done. Behind Shelley are backups Brett Roland and Duke Stamp, who believe it or not, have a bit of enmity for each other largely due to the fact the two go to rival high schools in Pinkerton City. It will be interesting to see how Roland and Stamp gel in the locker room, if the two can put petty high school level drama behind them and work as a team together.

DEFENDERS:
## POS Player Age Team
2 DEF Ashley Stanford 18 Terrace Street High School (Border City)
3 DEF Fabian Treloar 17 Beachside High School (Kingsland)
4 DEF Jerold Dickman 16 Hetfield Lane High School (Hap. City)
5 DEF Quintin Montague 17 Orndorff High School (Garvinson)

20 DEF Levi Bateson 16 Sig Garnett High School (North Hampton)
21 DEF Alger Fulton 17 Pinkerton North High School (Pinkerton)

22 DEF Tyson Clement 16 Kenneth Schroeder High School (Buckridge)

While the Little Haps have emphasized offense, that does not mean their defensive corps are anything to sneeze at. Ashley Stanford is a rough, physical defender who has used more than her share of tactics to stop an offensive momentum, Fabian Treloar can stop an offensive from the middle, and Quintin Montague led was part of Orndorff High's "Mr. Wonderfuls" team that won a region title last year.

And then there's Jerold Dickman. We don't know if it's the name, but Dickman has a reputation to fly off the handle and flat-out take out members of the other team, whether or not he's aiming for the ball. In fact, a Dickman tackle on Toby Bryson in a city series match last year led to a full-scale brawl and the Hapilopper City Police Department seriously considering pressing charges against Dickman for aggravated assault. Dickman has been asked by the HNFT to not be a dickhead and be on his best behavior. Players were then warned not to use the word "dickhead" around him as the HNFT official that warned him, well, got shoved against a wall.

MIDFIELDERS:
## POS Player Age Team
6 MID Parker Mathis 15 Vincent Welch High School (Hap. City)
7 MID Kerry Spalding 18 Goodman Road High School (Buckridge)
8 MID Herb Northrop 18 Southland Christian Academy (Buckridge)
9 MID George Hale 18 Rothmans High School (West Hampton)

31 MID Rufus Hartley 17 Monday's Mill High School (Surrey)
32 MID Oral Roundtree 17 Michael Bell High School (North Hampton)

33 MID Piers Adcock 16 Charles Carey High School (Surrey)

The midfield of the Little Haps is led by Parker Mathis, son of Hapiloppian President William Mathis. He's joined by two Buckridgians, Kerry Spalding and Herb Northrop, who have alternately been used as both midfielders and forwards when the time is convenient. They are joined by George Hale, a physical player who has become known for his shoulder-block tackles in an effort to advance an offensive effort.

FORWARDS:
## POS Player Age Team
11 FWD Peter Robson 18 Shallow Creek High School (Surrey)
12 FWD Toby Bryson 17 Vincent Welch High School (Hap. City)

14 FWD Shelley Linwood 18 Pinkerton North High School (Pinkerton)
15 FWD Elias Moon 17 Riverside High School (Hap. City)
16 FWD Morris Jamison 17 Conrad Saylor High School (Hap. City)

The headline striker is Peter Robson, who rode the bench during the Di Bradini Cup for the Junior Haps' effort, but he's a solid striker in his own right, scoring 23 goals for Shallow Creek High last year. He's joined by Toby Bryson, who was a key piece of Vincent Welch High's city championship effort last year, scoring 31 goals last year, including five in one match against Riverside High last year.

SavojarSports.sj - inside reports from all Savojarna
SFFB present the “World Class 90” youth talent project

The recent disappointment of the World Cup 84 cycle, with both the World Cup proper and the Cup of Harmony playoffs missed quite clearly, the SFFB has decided that a new approach is required. The recent first-time participation in the Sporting World Cup is a first step towards this approach, which has been presented today at the SFFB’s Sjoedrhavn headquarters under the name “World Class 90”. According to the SFFB’s chairman Sigfrid Järnholm, the goal of World Class 90 (abbreviated, tellingly, as “WC90”) is to produce a team capable of winning the World Cup by the 90th cycle. The approach for that is supposed to be a more comprehensive national youth and adult program, relying on collaboration from the SFS clubs and the League itself. The program consists of multiple elements, which are all supposed to work in collaboration.

The youngest level: Högvald National Football Academy

The lowest level that is targeted by WC90 starts at the age range of 14-15. Traditionally the intake point for the SFS academies, this is where Savojar talent enters the professional world. The SFFB identified the decentralised nature of youth training at this level as a core issue in Savojarna’s teams: As teams tend to have their own deep-rooted philosophies, their players often have crippling specialisations that may not work in conjunction with each other. As a solution, the SFFB presents the Högvald Academy Project, which covers grades 7-12 of the Savojar schooling system, or roughly ages 13 to 18. The Academy, located at the town of Högvald in southwestern Vestrholm, will contain around 25 prospects for each year, initially taking in a set of 100 students aged 13 to 16 split into four different grades, but will only accept 13-year-old talent in the future.

Högvald’s concept is to provide strong training for the players as well as a solid school education. The players in the Academy will be trained by a number of coaches to develop a solid, and most importantly unified, technical and physical baseline to build from. The goal is to ensure a good baseline skill for Savojar players, unifying the differences between the teams. The Högvald players will play in a variety of local teams, or in their hometown sides, until they are 16, and in two newly formed Högvald NFA U18 teams for their two final years. This approach should ensure ample playing time and tactical flexibility for the young talents. Programme director Tuomas Kapanen outlined an approach of “position-blind” training based on the individual skills of players in the first two years, and a strong focus on a good physical training and basic skills in the first three years. On this basis, players will be taught on a more specialised curriculum and tactical principles in the fourth year, before joining a Högvald side and receiving position-specific training in the last two years. Off the pitch, they will be given a Savojar secondary education, allowing dropouts from Högvald to pursue higher education should their career prospects not fulfil.

The U-18 National Development Group

Not everyone is likely to make it to Högvald, and talent may bloom after a player’s 13th birthday, or their parents may not be willing to send them to an elite football academy. For those players, a special program is planned to ensure development takes a more unified approach. The U-17 National Development Group consists of a yearly intake of eighty players aged 15 to 17 across the nation, which are selected at a number of recruitment events and based on four regions (Sumanen, Russica, North Vestrholm and Ejana, South and Central Vestrholm). These players are then invited to five one-week development camps per year, and a final three-week camp that concludes with a high-profile tournament in which the four regional sides play each other, along with the two Högvald teams. This tournament will serve as the prime intake point for the SFS academies, which will scout it attentively.

The goal of the NDG is to provide unified training at the youth level to as many players as possible. While Högvald is supposed to educate the national team stock of the country, the NDG is expected to be the backbone of the SFS at large. The SFFB believes that it is important to have a broad base, with Högvald graduates being pressured through other channels, and to offer its professional teams a number of well-trained youth sides. The NDG also serves as a unified approach to coaching, as it also offers trainings to coaches of players within the system. Club coaches that have at least one player in the NDG can attend a free course to be educated on the principles of the program, the coaching practices used in it, and an overview of exercises to push the national talent to its maximum. This approach should minimise the huge gaps in strengths, weaknesses, and abilities among Savojar juniors and make it more feasible to have a unified Savojar football philosophy.

The U-21 level: Savojar National Training Program

On the U-21 level, development is largely passed on to club academies, playing in the Savojarsk Ungdomsserien (SUS) or a professional side. Again, this opens players up to a variety of playstyles and skills, which can be good; but it also promotes uneven development. As a solution, the SNTP follows the model of the Savojar National Development Group. The program contains 100 players of the U-21 level (aged 19 to 21) who will be selected by SFFB scouts. It also consists of multiple yearly camps, now extended to two weeks, but with a direct leadup to the Di Bradini Cup as its crowning jewel. Intakes are limited to those eligible to play in the next DBC, and the program concludes with a four-week selection camp to the U-21 national team. Players return to their teams during the camps to play in matches. As an additional part of the program’s budget, the SFFB pays a bonus to teams that field players in the U-21 eligibility range in games at either tier of the SFS. This step should make players more familiar with the professional game and ensure a smoother transition.

Savojarna’s new football philosophy

Part, and really the foundation, of the World Class 90 program, is a new philosophy at the core of Savojar football. At the launching conference, Järnholm said: “Until now, Savojarna has played the way we wanted. We all kind of did our thing, and then we hoped it would work. What we saw, at the SFFB, is that in the league, which teams win? It has mostly been the teams that did something continuous. CASK have had the same coach for four years; Lok have a clear identity too. The teams like that are good, because everyone knows what they have to do. I think we need that as well for the national team, a good philosophy to make sure that everybody in the entire team always knows what to expect when they come to their first national camp. From the top level to the U-18, all our teams should play with a unified mind”. In order to facilitate such a transition, he announced that the SFFB would put the hiring decisions of the coaches throughout the structure in the hands of a single commission, and that the national team coaches would serve each other as assistants, with the U-21 coaching team assisting in the top level team and the U-18 coaches assisting at the U-21 level. This should pass ideas down the chain faster and ensure more unity.

Technical director Kari Omark then described the basis of the philosophy. “Savojarna has its strengths, a strong team and a good mentality. We are good at working together, it’s at the basis of who we are as a country. The Savojar national teams should reflect that. We want to go back to the roots, really. Our philosophy that we are developing is that players should all be able to excel on their own, but they should do it in the name of the team. Everyone’s first idea must always be “what can I, personally, do to help our team?”. I want Savojarna to be a side that is tactically smart, with a lot of skill, but with a lot of work behind it as well - not scared to defend, willing to do scrappy plays and hard work, but always able to shine if it needs to be. We don’t have space for individualists, but we also don’t want you to repress yourself”. The team also said that Zackrisson’s performance was under evaluation and the question of whether his contract would be extended to World Cup 85 was not yet decided.

A first step towards this new philosophy is the Sporting World Cup, the highest competition of U-18 teams in the world. Savojarna’s participation this year is a trial run, with the WC90 project not yet launched, but it will give important insights for the future. In the words of Chairman Sigfrid Järnström: “Next time, we will have a team of Högvald absolvents and NDP players. It will be good for them if we already know what to expect”.

Things you may or may not want to know about the team.
They do not have numbers on their shirts. Only the A national team has numbered shirts while others just have their names on the back.

Tamgu has spent over 150 million N$D to build youth facilities in order to help the young talents in the United States get found. 4/5 of that money was spent in the '90s, which led to the most successful times of Tamguna football. A big portion of the team is raised from these non-club facilities, as free agents training in the football schools. This leads to pairs, trios or quartets of childhood friends playing for the national team.

Home matches are played in those facilities. Dedicated fans do not leave the Eyasses alone, almost always the seats are filled. (there are some fields with over 10,000 capacity, to be used in concerts and stuff.)

As you may have guessed from the style modifier, the team focuses heavily on attacking. This tactic is not to score a lot of goals, but instead to make every part of the team get the most amount of experience. They get in many attacking positions and concede a lot of counter-attacks. The forwards, the midfielders, the defense and the keeper all have a high work rate. This gets criticized by commentators, they say that this damages them. We just say that they need to man the [heck] up.

Attacks are constructed from the middle. Going near the corner flag and crossing is seen as a backup plan. High tempo short passing is used. Short lob balls can be used near the goal to head back to the ground. One striker turns his back to the goal while the other runs for a through pass.

In RP, I allow almost anything. Just don't kill my players and destroy my country. Anything other than that is good.

Trung Son FC Academy's dorm, 14 days before the flight
Dai Hoa City
11pm

Bao Lam tosses and turns on his bed. It's been half a day since he knew he got called up for the national U18 team to compete at the Sporting World Cup 10 in Taeshan. The excitement is still buzzing in his body, like a bumblebee that can't stop flying back and forth between his brain and his feet. Looking up the dark ceiling, his thought turns to how he got to this point. Football is his life and passion. He has always dreamed about playing for the national team ever since he started playing football with the other little kids in the poor suburb of Dai Hoa City. At first it was just a distraction from the harsh reality of life; as time went by, the sport grew on him, and he spent more and more time playing and thinking about it. Like a lot of poor kids in this country, Bao Lam turned to football as a way to pull himself and his family up from the dirt. At 12, he made the decision to tryout for a youth scholarship program at Trung Son FC, one of the local teams in his area. His talent shone through, and he remembered feeling exalted when the scholarship offer came through the mail. His mother was worried: being a sportsperson is as dangerous as it is glamorous, and he will have to live alone, away from her care at such a young age. But she also knew becoming a professional footballer will help him escape the poverty that has dogged her family for years, especially when she had no idea how to afford his future education. Many kids from this low-income area chose that path, some succeed, some failed, but at least they will have a chance sooner than going to university. Letting him pursue his passion seemed to be the best way forward. He still remembers what she told him on the day he left the house: "I want you to see the end of this path you chose. I'll be here if you need me, but don't give up on what you love. I love you, son!"

His mother passed away from colon cancer last year, before she could see him signing his first professional contract. Today, he makes another big step on the path he chose. "Mom, I did it! I will play for the national team! I hope I made you proud," Bao Lam thinks, warm tears rolling down his cheeks as he slowly sleeps away.

Dung Trang National Training Complex, 7 days before the flight
Dai Hoa City
10pm

Bao Lam, Hoang Khang and Hai Anh step off the team bus with their luggage, greeted by the reception team: "Welcome, please come inside. Come check in with the receptionists at the counter and they will direct everyone to your room. We wish you a pleasant experience here." The reception building is a grand three-story structure with a dome larger than anything the three boys have ever seen. After settling down in their rooms and rest for a bit, they are gathered down the hall and guided to the meeting room where the team is going to have their first official meeting. After checking that every staff and players are present, the head coach stands up and speaks in a very casual: "Alright, good morning everyone. I'm sure we have acquainted with each other a bit on the bus, but let's do a formal introduction here. I'm Tran Tuan Hung, the head coach of the newly-formed U18 national team, and will be your direct supervisor from now until the end of the tournament. Although I'm 58, I consider myself very accessible and friendly to the younger generations. So please freely come talk to me if you have any concerns or questions. Now everyone please do a round of self-introduction; tell us your name, how old are you and which team are you playing for."

The players introduce themselves one by one around room. This activity is one of the top things on Bao Lam's dislike list, but it is interesting to meet all kind of talents across the country. Among them are Tran Ha Minh, a 186m-tall giant and one of the best young goalkeepers in the country, currently playing for Thuong Giang FC's reserve team; or Le Hoang Hai, only 176m tall, but known throughout the country as an intelligent and agile center back that played a major role in securing Phuc Chau Port championship in the U17 Club Tournament last year. And of course, one cannot help but admire the brightest young playmaker of the country, Phan Dang Hoang Quan. A rare gem among the U19 crop of ALT Vinh Thuy, he possesses impressive ball control skills and vision, with which he contributed 21 assists and 5 goals in the youth league last year.

When the last person finished, the head coach resumes his speech: "Great. Now that we all know each other, let's turn to our plan for the upcoming tournament. First, I want to congratulate all of the young talents here for making it into this team. Getting to play against other teams all over the world is a great opportunity for you to develop as a professional player. We definite have hope that you all can represent the brightest of our country. However, I also want point out that it is going to be very challenging going up against these teams, most of which have been in the sport way longer than we are. Teams like Taeshan, Starblaydia or Cassadaigua are among the best of the world. It doesn't matter who we will face; it is best that we prepare for every match as if it is a final. As a rookie to the sport and the tournament, we need to be realistic. The goal will not be winning the cup or getting in the top 3, the goal is give it our best and go as far as we can. I will require all of you to play with high discipline and cohesion. Against these strong teams, attacking head-on is suicidal. My general idea when I suggested this roster to the federation is to rely on a compact defense coupled with quick and precise counter-attacks to give us the best chance of securing a favorable result. I know you are all capable of that. I and the coaching staffs will elaborate more on tactics and formations on the training ground this afternoon, and we will have about a week here to prepare before we travel to Taeshan. Before I pass on the speaker role to the staff members, I want every players here to make this statement your mantra: one is none, eleven is one. Can we do this?

A loud and crisp "Yes" echoes the meeting room. Smiling satisfyingly, the coach sits down to let the staff members present their roles and the logistics of the travel. Hai Anh listens attentively like a good student he always is, while Hoang Khang spaces out, fiddling his fingers, clearly bored to death by the millions tiny details a player must remember. Bao Lam is just as inattentive, but looking around to observe his new teammates instead. Some of them look excited, some anxious, some bored. Hoang Quan, the 17-year-old playmaker, looks deep in thought with a bit of concern on his face. "What is he thinking?", Bao Lam thinks to himself.

The boys head out of the meeting room afterward. On their way to lunch, Hoang Khang can't contain his yawn anymore. "Man, these meetings are so boring. The head coach is alright, but why can't we just train right away", he says.

"Idiot. This is a big tournament we are travelling to. It's not like we just go there and play. Well, we do, but the staff have more things to take care of." Hai Anh talks back with a bit of disdain on his face.

"All right, mom. Gimme a break. I was tired, ok? Can we go get food now or what?" Hoang Khang lets out another long yawn, clearly pointing it toward his friend.

"Get away from me!" Hai Anh squeezes his eyes shut while pushing Hoang Khang, who is laughing at his friend's expression. "Come on Lam. Aren't you hungry? What are you looking at?"

While his two friends were raising a small ruckus, Bao Lam stopped to looks out the glass panels in the hallway at the grass field outside. "One is none, eleven is one", that saying keeps repeating itself inside his head. "Let's do this. The hard work starts now", he says to himself as he turns around and runs toward his friend.

NEWMANISTAN JUNIOR ROCKETS

SWC 10 ROSTER

About the team: Newmanistan had an additional rule for entry on to this team and that is that none of these players could be signed to any sort of international contract, and none of them could have been a part of the ENSL (Empire of Newmanistan Soccer League) entry draft. This has resulted in the team having more of a U-16 or U-17 look.

ENSS ranking: “Empire of Newmanistan Scouting Services” ranking. This is the players prospect ranking for players that are not yet part of any ENSL team not have taken part in any ENSL draft. It is not weighted based on position or by the players age.

Interested in a player?: The ENSL is not considered a high profile soccer league, so if your soccer league is, at minimum, only halfway decent, chances are these players would love to sign abroad to one of your teams. However, I am going to ask only that you express interest, as the theme of my intended RP will be these players being scouted by ENSL teams, and international offers will be roleplayed, if they are received. Only near the end of the tournament will I declare any official signings with an international club. The better the ENSS rating, the more picky the player will be about who they signed internationally with.

Manager- Daniel Phelan (40)

I am not denoting any players specifically being subs. Due to their age, it can be expected that various assignments of “sub” and “reserve” will be used for a game. If roleplaying it first, you can freely assign any of these players as being a substitute over a reserve.

Romi Schultze

Part One.

The Airport

Romi Schultze had been through a lot in her seventeen years on the planet. An old head on young shoulders, she’d seen more in her short life so far, than many people would go through in a lifetime. Growing up in the care system, where she could be uprooted at a moment’s notice, football had been her one constant. From the age of eight through to fifteen, she’d lived with a total of nine foster families, across five Schottic towns and cities. Luckily, it didn’t matter where you went, you could always find a local football club looking for new members. Also, every School had a football team, and there was no better way to ingratiate yourself in a new social circle than grab a couple of goals in an important match. Without football she would have been out on her arse a long time ago.

Aged fifteen she was approached by the Outreach Programme, whose remit was to find young players from underprivileged backgrounds, and helping them into the Schottic academy setup. After that she was able to switch to the Regional Development High School in Soessch, which offered boarding options, and with it, an opportunity out of the madness. Going from being a top High School player, to an average National Academy star brought it’s own challenges; but Romi was lightning quick, and she was determined not to let this chance pass her by. She saw what happened to players once they left the “care” system – she had witnessed that first hand. With her sixteenth birthday approaching, this was fast becoming her one shot.

Therefore, when the offer came in from the All-Hinodejin Football Youth League, there was a lot at stake. Switching academies was always a risk as a young player, especially when it involved a move to the most completive youth league in the multiverse. In the end, the move to Senso-Shukujo turned out to be the right one, and after a season of regular football under her belt, she had been in a far better position than before she’d flown out. Scoring the winning goal in the cup final, against Project Olimpo Jutsii, in the eighty-eighth minute, was the stuff of dreams. Not only that, it was enough to catch the eye of Andrew Risk, and a chance to win her cap for her country at the Sporting World Cup…

Handon International Airport
Romi placed her suitcase down on the scales at the self-check-in service, waiting for the machine to give her a green light and spit out her labels. She was used to carrying a suitcase. For nearly ten years it had sat close to hand, by her bedside, usually in a state of semi-unpacked. In the foster homes she’d never dared to unpack fully, thinking that the second she did it would merely tempt fate. She scanned her eyes back and forward, across the airport forecourt. With the exception of the Project Olimpo girls, should wouldn’t have been able to put a face to any of the names on the squad list. There were a few other young people milling around, but she likely wouldn’t know who they were until they met with the Gaffer at the gate.

She printed her stickers, attached them to the handle of her case and fed it through onto the conveyor belt, watching it disappear before heading for the escalator that led up to the security desk. A call up to the Under-Eighteens was a promising sign. Obviously not every player capped at this age went on to play in the Premiership or Gold League – in fact not all of them went on to become full-professionals – but at least it was a step in the right direction, and vindication that she had made the right decisions.

Andrew Risk was a of medium height, with thick grey salt and pepper hair, sat atop a red and puffy drinker’s face. An internet search of the manager hadn’t revealed much, other than that he’d spent time at Granton Vale and New Island as a youth coach, before moving to the Regional Development Side in Port Christopher. His eyes seemed lost amongst decades worth of worry lines, and he had a mouth that looked incapable of smiling, as if the muscles were trained into a permanent frown. The man looked like he’d seen too many scrapes with relegation, and it had stolen part of his soul. As Romi approached she saw his assistant – a much younger man – holding a clipboard and taking a register.

‘Are you Romi or Ethyl?’ He asked, pronouncing her name Rome-eye.

‘Rom-ee.’ She corrected him, with a weak smile. ‘Senso-Shukujo Ladies High School…’ She offered, not that there was much need to narrow it down.

‘Hi I’m Will.’ He said, extending a hand. William Wall had thinning blonde hair, black-framed glasses, and a friendly face. ‘Just take a seat somewhere nearby, and make yourself comfortable.’

The majority of the squad was already there – eighteen or so – and they currently occupied two parallel rows of seating. The banks of moulded plastic benches were facing one and other, but it hadn’t done much for conversation, with most of the player either listening music, reading books, or engaged in private dialog. Romi sat herself at the end, next to a short back and sides young man, who didn’t so much as look up from his phone. She placed her rucksack on the floor between her knees, and unhooking her own headphones from around her neck, stuffing them back inside.

She watched Risk, who was bustling with a kind or nervous energy – a man who had the demeanour (and face) of a North Handon hard man. Like a convict, pacing the prison yard, he prowled up and down the rows of chairs, with a cold hard look in his eyes. Romi had been around enough football clubs as a kid to know how this dynamic would play out. Wall - the assistant - was the players’ friend, having already introduced himself as “Will.” Risk would be addressed as “Gaffer” only, and would be the one who delivered the home truths.

‘Hi Romi?’ She looked up to see a young woman offering her a hand. ‘I’m Kendra. I just wanted to introduce myself.’

‘Hi.’ Romi answered, standing up. The player sat next to her never flinching, as he remained transfixed to his phone. ‘How’s it going?’ She couldn’t think of anything to say, that didn’t involve the young woman’s mother or grandfather. As someone who was sensitive to family issues herself, Romi imagined that constant mention of Triffid and Gethin Ramsey could easily be unwanted pressure and attention. For example, it must have been weird seeing memes of you’re grandfather with his face superimposed onto the clouds. (Even if one or two of Nephara’s previous managers had slightly underachieved…)

‘Good, thanks.’ Kendra still had a Schottic accent, but it was perhaps a little less pronounced these days. ‘I’m the squad captain, so if there’s anything you want ask… I mean, I know what it’s like being with the setup for the first time…’

‘Yeah… thanks.’ Romi remembered to smile. She had a horrible habit of scowling, even when she didn’t mean to. Probably all those nights, as a kid, lying awake worrying about the future – give it ten years and she’d undoubtedly look a bit like the Gaffer. ‘Yeah… eh… I’m sure there will be loads of questions, silly questions, stupid questions… You’ll be sick of the sight of me!’ She laughed nervously, realising that she was talking too much.

At that she was saved by the intercom, announcing the flight to Taeshan was boarding. The players began to saunter towards the front desk, boarding passes at the ready. Once again, Romi’s eyes were drawn to Risk, who stood staring out intently at the rain-lashed runway, waiting until the last player had been checked in, before joining the queue himself.

FILINDOSTAN
National Under-18 Football Team
Under-18 World Cup 10

The Filindostan Football Federation is pleased to present the Filindostan National football Under-18 team, to compete in the 10th Under-18 World Cup, in Taeshan. After an absence of four SWCs, the young guns of Filindostan are back to continue the nurturing of the potential future members of the national team.

About the Filindostan Football Federation

The Filindostan Football Federation (FFF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing Organization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. The newly-established federation caters to the nation's footballing affairs and sanctions the selection of the senior, under-21 and under-15 squads. Moving forward, the FFF will now oversee Under-18 squads.

The FFF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, and is headed by Estrelitta "Estie" Barzagia.

Manager: Teofilo "THEO" San Martin, 49, M

Kits
Image

Local kit supplier, No Nonsense, provides the kits for the Pula Garuda. The kits will be used until the World Cup 81 season Margaret knows when. The home kits are clad in red and are usually paired with black shorts and white socks. For color clashes in shorts and socks, they use their all red kit. Their alternate kit is white, usually with red shorts and socks, but can be black shorts and white socks in case of color clashes. The goalie kit is all black (or in black shorts and socks), but in case of color clashes, a yellow version of the GK kit is available.

The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the pitch and cause match delays.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my lineup: Yes
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes - I'll determine the severity.
Godmod injuries to my players: No - Absolutely no death here please.
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes

On the flight to Taeshan
9am

The team took the early flight to Taeshan to have enough time for the rest of the day recovering from the jet lag. That, however, didn't help Hai Anh with the horrible feeling of nausea he is having. He has always had troubles with motion sickness, despite possessing an impeccable sense of position on the field. He reclines his seat a bit; puts his right arm on top of his eyes trying to sleep it off; constantly sitting up ready to grab the sick bag in the pocket in front of his seat, only for nothing to happen and he puts it back in place, looking absolutely miserable. As he is about to fall back to his reclined seat, a hand carrying 3 pieces of salted dried apricot reach out in front of him from the seat right next door. It is Hoang Hai, one of the defenders on the team.

He says to Hai Anh: "Have these, they always help me whenever I feel queasy. Figure it might work with you too, you know, with the same 'center back sensitivity' and stuffs."

"Thanks, I'll try. Where do you get these?" Hai Anh reluctantly pick the pieces off Hai's hand. The sweet, salty and slight sour flavors blend into the tiny bit of apricot smell, giving Hai Anh a slight shiver. Tasty!

"I always bring them with me on my travels. My home province's local specialty, this thing. Ever been to Phong Chuong? asks Hoang Hai.

"No, isn't that all the way down south of the country? I don't get many chances to travel far except for when we play away games. But there is no local team there I believe?" Hai Anh looks up, trying to remember if he has actually heard of that province before.

"Yeah no. I was born and grew up for a few years there, but my family moved when I was 6. That's why I play for Phuc Chau Port. But we visit my grandma place in Phong Chuong every now and then. These dried apricots are home-made by her. Pretty good, eh?"

"Absolutely. Sorry but can I have another one?" Hai Anh feels a bit embarrassing asking for more, but the little treat is so gustatorily appealing he can't help.

"Sure. Help yourself." Hoang Hai gives the whole bag to Hai Anh. "You know I eat way too much of this. My parents say because I eat dried food all the time I can't be as tall as other players. I guess they're right, but if so this thing also gave me agility to make it up, so that's fair."

"That's right." Hai Anh suddenly remembers who he is talking to. "It's amazing to see you raced all the way back from a corner to make that crucial tackle in the U17 Club Tournament's final last year. Those big strikers couldn't bully you at all."

Hoang Hai bursts a laugh. "That moment was crazy. I almost went on auto-pilot. That's probably the last time I could do something like that. Lucky it turned out well." He turns his body toward Hai Anh: "You're a well-known name too. I remember seeing you play against us in the Youth League. It's a pity I missed that game because of my groin injury. But you were sensational. I never knew a 16-year-old can command a defense like that."

Hai Anh feels both embarrassed and pride hearing such praise from a talented peer. From then on, the two center backs keep sharing stories and laughter for the rest of the flight. Suddenly Hai Anh doesn't feel sick anymore.

"You know, I thought you were pretty scary, the way you always seem to focus on something. But you're really cool. We should keep in touch after this tournament. I'll send you a few bags of dried apricots." Hoang Hai says to Hai Anh.

And it strikes Hai Anh right away. It has been a few years since he felt he made a close friend, one that he can be himself around without worrying about anything. Aside from the two goofs he hangs out with since the very first days in the academy, he doesn't feel close to anyone else. Coaches trust him; fellow players respect him and even look up to him; that's why he is always chosen as the leader, the captain, the commander on the field. But in some ways, others are also keeping a distance from him. "Maybe carrying this stuck-up image isn't the best thing, but since when did I choose that image for myself?" Hai Anh thinks, forgetting that he needs to response.

"You're alright? Feeling sick again?" Hoang Hai pulls Hai Anh out of his deep thoughts.

"Oh sorry, no. Yeah we definitely will keep in touch. I'll hold you to that offer." Hai Anh smiles as he take another piece of dried apricot out of the bag. "Last one, promise."

The intercom interrupts them as the plane starts to descend down for landing. Outside the window, the icy islands of Taeshan appear larger and larger. With the runway slowly shows up on the horizon, the team is all buckled up for an exciting tournament.

Training field, before Matchday 1
Taeshan
10am

After a week of acclimatizing to the cold and familiarizing with the fields, the Mavinet U18 team has been practicing on tactics and formations for the past 2 days. With some light physical and technical exercises in the morning, the team is ready to return to the training field one last time before lunch for a quick training match.

Head Coach Tran Tuan Hung gathers the team around him and briefs: "Boys, tomorrow is our first match. I know it is challenging to face Starblaydia right off the bat, but let's face it, I already made it clear that every match will be challenging. Now, Starblaydia is a strong team with balance in all areas of the field, and they will likely field a 4-3-3 formation. To counter this, we will use number on the defense. We will field a 5-3-2, with 2 wingbacks serve as options on the flanks in counter attacks. Our center midfielders will need to drop back a bit off the ball, but the front 3 will try to stay forward as much as possible. I want the defense to be compact to limit their chances in the center. Force them to the flanks, and we will try to deal with crosses. I know the impulse to act individually will be great, but I stress this: try to communicate as much as possible with your teammates. I don't want 2,3 players all come chasing the opponent on the ball, is this clear?"

"Yes sir!" everyone says in sync.

"Good. Now this is the lineup for tomorrow." he puts up a big sheet of paper on the board. "Those on the starting lineup, remember your roles and my instructions. If we can get a draw against Starblaydia, it will be a big success. Now split into two teams, the starters on one team, I'll pick the other one." With that, the players run off and prepare for what is going to be the first big match of their international career.
