SPÁLGLEANN – Peace talks between rival factions in Tsabara's ongoing political crisis have broken down after a series of terrorists targeted the country's Irfanic population. Talks ended early yesterday after a series of Irfanic mazars were attacked, resulting in the deaths of 249 people. Dialogue was formally suspended today when representatives of Sheik Faizan Salah, the de facto leader of political Irfan in Tsabara, pulled out.

The collapse of the Caldish-mediated talks has caused concern among many Caldish diplomats, who are now understood to be worried that the possibility of a diplomatic resolution to Tsabara's political crisis has passed. Officials from Tsabara's acting government, including interim president Nazim al'Qutayni, have left Caldia to return to Tsabara to oversee the response to the mazar attacks. Talks began on Wednesday after the Caldish government offered to act as a mediator to work towards bringing an end to the crisis. They began after Zorasan pressured Sheik Salah into sending representatives. However, terror attacks targeting the country's Irfanic population ended the powerful cleric's desire to participate.

The mazar attacks were carried out by an Atudite group known as the Lions of the Homeland. They claimed responsibility on social media soon after the attacks, and Tsabaran media have confirmed they executed the attacks. 249 people were killed and over 300 were injured in the attacks throughout Tsabara's eastern provinces. Mazars, the sites of worship in Irfan, were targeted during Friday morning prayers. Many of the temples were packed with worshipers, who were killed when gunmen opened fire. A popular outdoor market was also attacked in the city of Qaa, where three separate mazars were targeted.

Taoiseach Stiofán Mac Suibhne said the attacks were an "atrocity" and condemned the Lions, labeling them as a terror group. He called on the international community to work to uphold Tsabara's open society as sectarian conflict worsens, warning the alternative was "armed conflict along religious lines".

"The world simply cannot afford a civil war in Tsabara, which would see armed conflict along religious lines. This would result in a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented scale, running the real risk of ethnic cleansing and genocide. International governments must continued to act with restrain and work to ensure open society in Tsabara is upheld and protected. The Community of Nations must act in the interests of stability, human rights, and Tsabara's democratic institutions" the taoiseach told reporters at a press conference.

Reports that the talks had broken down this morning broke this morning, and it was confirmed in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The taoiseach's press conference offered further clarification as he confirmed that representatives from both the interim government and Sheik Salah had left the country.

The Euclean Community has expressed concerns at the collapse of peace talks, with President Alexis Walker warning tensions were likely to escalate. Attempts to get member-states to adopt a common approach to the Tsabaran Crisis have failed thus far. An emergency summit called by Ms. Walker earlier this month failed to bring consensus. Caldish-sponsored peace talks were seen as a way to ensure the crisis did not escalate further, and their collapse could have major repercussions.

Yesterday was the single most deadly day in Tsabara's ongoing conflict, surpassing 27 December 2019. This is the second major series of terrorist attacks in Tsabara within the past month. In December, the city of Yeruham was targeted by an Irfanic extremist group known as Al-Isbah. The attacks left 197 people dead and more than 300 injured. The Lions claimed yesterday's attacks were in retaliation for Al-Isbah's attacks in Yeruham.

Euclean diplomats are concerned that the two groups may begin directly confronting each other, signalling a major escalation in tensions. Vivien Vallette, the EC Foreign Commissioner and grandson of the Gaullican president, said that such conflict had the potential to "undermine the Tsabaran government and trigger a civil war".

The Caldish government is reported to be considering a ban on travel to Tsabara as tensions in the country are expected to worsen. It has already advised Caldish citizens in Tsabara to make arrangement to leave the country and has discouraged additional travel to Tsabara.

Chief Minister: "Chervolesia Represents A Threat To All"

Chief Minister Robert Marten during the press conference.

Chervolesia's latest missile test "represents an existential threat to the security and safety of the entire Asterias" according to Chief Minister Robert Marten at a press conference this morning.

The Chief Minister said that the latest missile test represented the military capabilities of what he referred to as "the rogue state" and said that the Asterias needed to take these threats seriously.
"After what happened last year, the whole region needs to wake up and see that Chervolesia is exercising its power again," he said. "If our democracies, our freedoms, and our rights are to be preserved, there needs to be a concerted effort to confront Chervolesia and the threat to our way of life it represents."

The missile test, conducted on January 13, was of a ballistic missile dubbed the "I-10", which also goes by the Asterian Forum for Development and Cooperation (AFDC) reporting name SSM-35X "Stonemason". Military experts have considered to be an advancement in the ballistic missile capabilities of the Chervolesian military. Very little information is known about the missile itself, although the missile is claimed to have a range that can reach eastern Coius or western Euclea from bases in mainland Chervolesia. The SSM-35X is believed to be capable of a variety of warheads, including nuclear and chemical warheads. Like most Chervolesian missiles, the I-10 is launched from a Transporter, Erector, Launcher (TEL) vehicle, making it highly mobile.

In addition, the test marks five years since the first launch of the R-18 missile, believed to be the most potent ballistic missile currently in service with the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The Chief Minister said that while the missile test was not illegal according to existing international legislation, but represented the "kind of reckless escalation" that he said Chervolesia was engaging in since June last year.
"They know that they can get away with piracy on the open sea, a missile test by comparison is nothing," he said. "However it's this kind of thing that the international community refuses to act upon." He said that the reluctance to act was due to "willful ignorance within the liberal elite" in certain governments who "have the power to make a difference."
"Those leaders know exactly who they are," he said. "But they prefer to bully countries they know they can bully without consequences."

Defence Minister Martinus Hulsenaar said that the Ministry of Defence was aware of developments in Chervolesia and was "monitoring the situation closely."
"We're keeping an eye on Chervolesian military activities and will continue to do so," he said. "These activities are known to us and we will continue to work with partners around the region on monitoring the PLA's missile testing."

Hulsenaar said that he had discussed military responses with the Chief Minister over the past two days and said that they had come to the conclusion that "no meaningful military action could be achieved."
"Through my discussions with the Chief Minister, we agreed that diplomatic efforts would be best to respond to this latest escalation," he said. "We would reexamine our options if the situation changed."

Hulsenaar did not wish to comment on whether or not Nuvania would acquire the means to counter ballistic missiles.

Chief Minister Robert Marten said that he was informed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs it had conveyed their concerns to their counterparts in Volosovo. He also said that the government would be exploring its own diplomatic responses.
"We have a whole range of options," he said. "At the moment we're examining them to determine which one would be the most suitable."

Marten said that any proper response to the latest missile test would "come very soon."
"Watch this space." he said.

Gaullica deploys fleet to the Îles des Saints.
In the aftermath of a Chervolesian missile test and instability in the region, the government approved a plan of asserting its presence.

Chervolesia's announcement of a successful missile test has sent shockwaves throughout the eastern world, despite a muted response from Asteria Superior and Inferior. Not only is the strategic intercontinental ballistic missile a concern, its promotion by the perceived 'moderates' Vasilissa Masalina-Mravinskaya, who removed hardliners in a wide-ranging protests every, has changed perspectives on the Chervolesian government.

Whilst Chervolesian media has described January 13th as an "unforgettably good day", those concerned by threats of nuclear proliferation are rightly concerned. Those championing the cause of nuclear disarmament as laid out by the Treaty of Shanbally have received this as a grave day. Whilst the missile itself was not carrying a payload, its intention as an ICBM is quite clear.

The 'Purple-Green' coalition, featuring prominent environmentalists, have denounced the testing of the missiles as having the potentiality of breaching the Treaty of Shanbally and as "legitimising the proliferation of nuclear weapons in a 'resurgent arms race.' Deputy Premier Marie-Justine Tiquet decried the testing as a "step-backward for a safer world."

Even though the government claims no correlation between the presence of a fleet in the port of Saint-Thomas, Îles des Saints, it is hard to argue why else they might be there. It is known that the Chervolesian government has unjustified claims on the island chain, and has held them for quite some time. Tensions between Verlois and Volosovo have the potential to turn hot, as they have circled near a historic low ever since Chervolesia's claiming great increases to its own territorial waters.

Fleets have frequented the Îles des Saints since then, but never in this number. Now, a task-force led by one of Gaullica's helicopter carries, the GRS Chloé. The task-force constitutes of one helicopter carrier, two submarines, four destroyers, four frigates and two missile cruisers. In addition, they were joined by an Estmerish frigate and destroyer. They are to perform routine exercises in Gaullican waters, alongside several ships of the navy of Satucin.

Other nations throuhgout the Euclean Community have also expressed alarm at the Chervolesian missle test. EC Commissioner of Foreign and Global Affairs Vivien Vallette said that the tests were "highly concerning" and said that the Euclean Commission was "alarmed" by growing tensions in the Asterias.

"This is a concern for [the Commission], as the ongoing Mariranan Civil War has already greatly destablized the region. A further increase in tensions between Asterian nations only stands to further destablize the region".

The EC has long had concerns about stability in the region and has vested economic and political interests in the Arucian, dating back centuries. It maintains a free trade agreement with the Satucin-led AFDC and a prospective military confrontation between Chervolesia and Satucin and its allies would have major economic repercussions. EC nations also have vested concerns about further hummanitarian crises in the Asterias, as the Mariranan Civil War has already resutled in the displacement of millions of people.

IMAGUAN GOVERNMENT CONDEMNS MISSILE TEST
PM Egnell urges cooperation between the AFDC and Gaullica to "contain" Chervolesia

Prime Minister Douglas Egnell in today's sitting

Following the recent announcement by Chervolesian state media of a test of an intercontinental ballistic missile on 13 January, Prime Minister Douglas Egnell gave the official response from the Imaguan government regarding these missile tests.

"Mister Speaker, having been informed of the recent missile tests held last week by the Chervolesian government, the recent missile test by the Chervolesian government is nonetheless something that we must condemn," Egnell said, to applause from both the government and the opposition. "The development of an intercontinental ballistic missile by the Chervolesian government is something that we are incredibly concerned, as it extends the ability for Chervolesia to cause harm to other countries, particularly in Euclea and Coius."

"These actions taken by the Cherlovesian government, in conjunction with their attempted exclusion of any maritime vessels, show us that Chervolesia poses a grave and dangerous threat to the stability of the Arucian Sea, and that for all nations within the Asterian Forum for Development and Cooperation to ignore the threat posed by these activities will only serve to weaken the very bonds upon which this organisation has been created," Egnell continued. "Although we are a small island nation, we have a moral duty upon each and everyone to condemn these actions, and we will make sure that the Asterian Forum for Development and Cooperation bands together to contain the Chervolesian threat, so that the world will remain a safe place."

When asked by opposition leader Giocondo Stasio about the government's position regarding the Gaullican deployment of ships to defend the Îles des Saints, Egnell responded that "Gaullica has a right to defend the Îles des Saints from the Chervolesian threat," and that "we need to cooperate with Gaullica if we want to contain Chervolesia."

BREAKING: ZORASANI ARMY OFFICERS KILLED IN TSABARA
Image

JOMEH 27 DEY 1398 | 17 JANUARY 2020 | By Hamid Sattarifar | @Eftekar.zr

Senior commander of the Irfanic Revolutionary Army, General Amir Meyghani has died of wounds he suffered in an ambush attack in southern Tsabara. The 66-year old officer was returning to Zorasan from meetings with Sheik Faizan Salah in Sidi Amar when his motorcade was attacked by the Lions of the Homeland – the extremist Atudite group that conducted numerous attacks simultaneous to the ambush. The attacks across eastern Tsabara killed 249 people and injured over 300, in what has been described as the “most heinous, animalistic and vicious assault” upon Badawiyan Irfanics. The government has vowed revenge for Meghani’s martyrdom and for all Irfanics killed by the “Lions.”
Image
General Amir Meyghani was killed alongside four other
officers in a ambush conducted by the Lions of the Homeland.

The Army’s spokesman, Colonel Ebrahim al-Aziz told reporters, “it is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we confirm the martyrdom of Sardar Amir Meyghani. His martyrdom follows that of four other comrades who were travelling with him. Statements from the criminal band known as the Lions of the Homeland and Army intelligence confirm their responsibility and guilt in this assassination.”

“Sardar Meyghani died on the operating table as Tsabaran doctors attempted to save his life. The four comrades, Colonel Said Pourdastan, Colonel Mohammad al-Qahdi, Major Hussein Yadallah and Captain Mirza Fakoori were declared deceased at the site of the ambush. The Armed Forces offer its prayers for the families of our fallen comrades and stands united in our pursuit of revenge” he said further.

According to the Army’s official press release, the General and his entourage were returning to Zorasan after successfully negotiating Sheik Faizan Salah and his League of the Righteous’ participation in the peace-talks in Caldia. General Meyghani was appointed as the official representative of the Union-Government to the Irfanic-Badawiyan movement in Tsabara last month. Once talks began in Spalgleann, the entourage began its journey back home.

The convoy set out from Sidi Amar at 9.00am on Friday, they travelled south toward the Al-Tuban border crossing. At 9.11am, six miles outside of Sidi Amar, the motorcade containing four vehicles was attacked in an empty arid area. The lead vehicle was struck by an explosion that blocked the road, this was followed by heavy gunfire and smaller explosions that disabled the other vehicles.

General Meyghani’s comrades were killed instantly, while he suffered serious injuries. Within minutes, provincial and federal security personnel arrived, but the attackers had fled. He was transported back to Sidi Amar where he was treated for his injuries but died on the operating table.

Six Tsabarans who attended the General as his bodyguards were also killed, while the four drivers were also killed.

The deaths of five Zorasani army officers has prompted an extended emergency meeting of both the Council of Ministers and the National Security Command, the most senior security council of the country. The two meetings also covered the mass killing across the east of Tsabara.

In a brief statement, the First Minister’s Office said, “the First Minister Farzad Akbari has convened an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers to discuss the atrocities committed against Irfanics in Tsabara. The State President has returned from Caldia, there is no route nor capacity in which peace can be a realistic prospect in Tsabara, after such barbaric bloodletting.

“The First Minister will also convene a meeting of the National Security Command to discuss an appropriate response to the martyrdom of General Meyghani and his four comrades. This attack on the Union and its indomitable armed forces will not go unanswered, nor shall the massacre of hundreds of innocents Irfanics” it said further.

Special Edition: Union vows revenge as Sheik Salah calls on Badawiyans to "rise up" in "resistance and defence"

Zahedan, Union Capital Territory- In wake of the devastating attacks in Eastern Tsabara that killed 249 civilians and injured a further 300, the Union-Government has announced a series of responses, while Sheik Faizan Salah has led a memorial event in the southern city of Hitteen. The government has declared three days of “national mourning and solidarity” over the deaths of 5 Zorasani military officers and for the Irfani killed in the Tsabaran attacks.
Image
First Minister Farzad Akbari vowed revenge in a televised address.
In a televised address to the nation, First Minister Farzad Akbari said, “the entire world stands stunned at the most brutal, barbaric, animalistic and debased bloodbath that those Atudite extremists unleashed. We all mourn and grieve the loss of life, the killing and violence. But we will not let this atrocity deter us, or intimidate us, but rather, strengthen our resolve to halt the tide of extremism and terrorism.”

“As we mourn the 249 brothers and sisters lost, taken from us so horrifically, we too mourn the loss of five sons of the Union. We mourn the loss of five heroes of the revolution, martyred after pursuing a mission of peace and reconciliation. We will remember the five martyrs, just as we shall remember the 249” he said further.

“In response to the atrocity in Tsabara, the Union-Government is officially designating the so-called Lions of the Homeland, a terrorist organisation. We are further designating them a national and regional security threat. I can also confirm, plans are now underway, to avenge the martyrdom of Sardar Meyghani and his four comrades, Colonel Said Pourdastan, Colonel Mohammad al-Qahdi, Major Hussein Yadallah and Captain Mirza Fakoori. Our vengeance will be swift, it will be sharp, and it will hurt” he said.

“No group, movement or nation, should from this day onward be under the illusion that it can inflict this level of pain and loss on the Irfanic world and go unopposed. If the Tsbaran government cannot guarantee the security of this continent, nor of this region, then we will have no option, than do so ourselves, through whatever means necessary” he said.

“The government is officially declaring three days of mourning for our brothers and sisters in Tsabara, and the five martyred warriors of our nation and revolution. Together, as a nation, we will remember those butchered by enemies of peace and humanity. Then, together, we shall defeat this insidious enemy and drive them into the abyss where they belong, and by the grace of God, never again shall their extremism infect this world again” he said defiantly.

Immediately after his address, the Union-Government issued a series of statements, while social media was quickly awash with pictures and videos of tanks, trucks and armoured vehicles passing through northern towns in the Irvadi Union Republic. Social media also showed footage of military aircraft arriving at northern air bases.

One statement released by the government was highly critical of the Tsabaran interim government saying, “the Union will now begin measures that will see the total evacuation of all diplomatic staff from Tsabara. With thousands of federal soldiers deployed to the east, it failed to halt one of the most audacious and well-coordinated terrorist atrocities in history. In light of this catastrophic failure, the Union is prepared to make all necessary provisions to protect its borders.”

This was followed by the government announcing new measures aimed at confronting possible infiltrations of the Union’s Atudite population by the so-called Lions. The government will introduce legislation that will criminalise any message, verbal statement or social media post supportive of the group, while any suspected member or sympathiser will be detained without trial.

A third statement confirmed that the military is raising the national alert status to Red and will dramatically increase security around civil, economic and political sites and facilities.
Supreme Commander of the Irfanic Revolutionary Army, Sardar Alireza Fadavi told military reporters, “what happened yesterday was an act of war against humanity and against every Irfani in every nation. We shall avenge Shahid Meyghani and his comrades, and we shall avenge the 249. God willing, it will burn these Lions away.”
Image
Sheik Faizan Salah called on all Badawiyans to rise up against the "Lions".

In southern Tsabara, Sheik Faizan Salah took to the podium in a mass outpouring of grief in the city of Hitteen. The city had suffered in the attacks, with several Beytols struck by the Lions. The Sheik had hoped to travel to Qa’ah, the city that suffered most in the violence, but threats against his life and the lack of faith in the government to protect him denied him the chance.

Taking to a makeshift podium in the centre of the city, the Sheik abandoned his earlier reconciliatory rhetoric and instead called on all Irfani in Tsabara to “rise up, fists clenched in resistance and defence.”

Across the eastern provinces, his League of the Righteous set up large television screens in squares and the courtyards of Beytols to enable as many to view his speech.
Image
Thousands took to the streets in numerous cities. Here, armed easterners took to the streets in Sidi Amar.

Addressing the crowd in Hitteen he said, “we are drowning in our peoples’ blood. We are drowning in the tears of our mothers, sisters and wives. We are drowning in hatred and scorn for those who did this to us. We went to Caldia in peace and they butchered us when most vulnerable. They butchered us when most at peace with this world, they butchered us.”

He was swift to declare the 17th January a day of “martyrdom and pain”, but further declared, “this day is not just one of martyrdom and pain, but it is the beginning of our greatest war and struggle. We are going to avenge our brothers and sisters and we are going to drive these cats into the wild and then into the sea. We are going to evict them from Adunis and we are going to build a Tsabara worthy of our sacrifice. We will be victorious for our martyred friends and loved ones. God willing, we will evict every enemy and get the nation we deserve.”

The Sheik defied earlier expectations by slamming the interim government saying, “so beholden to the Atudites for their power, they sent thousands of soldiers here to control our protests, and yet failed to protect us. Their guns killed our daughter” he said in reference to Surayah al'Bariqi, the 18-year old woman who was killed by a government soldier, “yet they do not protect us from those animals. The government cannot be trusted, nor can it protect us from its true masters. The only way now to save ourselves, our people and our faith here in the holiest of lands, is to be our own protectors and our own masters” he said.

“I am calling on every Badawiyan, every Irfani, to rise up with me, to rise up, fists clenched and rifles close, now is the time for resistance and defence. I call on you to rise up and together we can march on Adunis and evict all those who would slaughter our children” he cried, receiving loud cheers from the crowds.

The governor of Bedjene province, the home of Qa’ah, Hussein al-Aduni was present on stage next to the Sheik. Taking to the microphone he said, “as governor, I am responsible. I failed you, but I will not fail the people of Bedjene or Tsabara again. I am officially ordering the mobilisation of Bedjene’s Federal Reserve Force and I am demanding the immediate withdrawal of all federal forces not just from Bedjene but every eastern province” he said to loud cheers.

“The government did not protect us, therefore we will pursue the scum and we will bring them to justice. If the federal government stands in our way, we will drive them aside” he warned.

The governors of Ain Djasser, Hassani Abdelkrim, Juraynah, Qadessiya, Ain Yagout and Trifaoui have reportedly been in constant contact with Sheik Salah and according to sources in the League of the Righteous, may mobilise their provincial forces at any moment in suite of Governor Al-Aduni.

There are unconfirmed reports of provincial federal reserve force bases opening their armouries to locals, while the League of the Righteous’ most senior figures have reportedly left their offices. Other unconfirmed reports indicate several federal army units based in the East cutting off contact with Adunis.

What Happened in Tsabara?

January 17 2020, will go down in history as one of grotesque violence and bloodletting. In a series of well-coordinated and executed attacks, numerous death squads stormed Beytols across the east of Tsabara. Striking during morning prayers, they sprayed their ammunition mercilessly, cutting down men, women and children alike. They turned the stunning and historic floor of the Blue Beytol in Qa’ah red, murdering 43 innocents. The Lions also slaughtered the faithful in the Beytols of Ibn Ziyad and Ibn Nusayr. Just after midday the Lions struck the iconic open market of Qa’ah, renowned for its spices, wares and trinkets. This was followed by four more attacks on Beytols in Hitteen, Qalhat and Beit Shajaf.

To further disgrace themselves, the Lions defaced the public grave of Surayah al'Bariqi. They struck a former residence of Sheik Salah, while Badawiyan businesses were defaced across Qa’ah. This was an attack designed to strike at the spirit as much as the flesh. This was the spitting upon decency and humanity by men devoid of either.

Then in the southeast, Zorasan was struck by the ambush of General Amir Meyghani’s motorcade, martyring him and four others.

249 civilians, innocents, faithful people, fellow followers of the holy book, the same book as the Atudite and Sotirian. And here, that fraternity was torched to the ground.

What now?

The scale and complexity of the attack has stunned not only Adunis, but Zahedan and the world. In Tsabara, the presence of thousands of federal soldiers did nothing to deter nor stop the attacks, prompting destabilising questions. War, now seems inevitable, the Irfani in the East, languishing in poverty and destitution for decades, as more secular Badawiyans, the Atudites and Sotirians saw only riches on the coasts are now no longer controllable, they seek decent lives, with bright futures and now, they will avenge their dead.

The attacks have confirmed the Lions of the Homeland to be the world’s deadliest terror group, surpassing the mysterious Al-Isbah group that attack Yeruham last month. Their assassination of five Zorasani soldiers will guarantee them a response. The Spalgleann Talks are dead, al-Qutayni’s government is floundering and war between the Irfani and Atudite is inevitable. The end of Tsabara is nigh and we can only pray that it is swift and merciful.

On behalf of Eftekar, we offer our prayers and thoughts for the 249 and their friends and families. We offer our prayers and thanks to Sardar Meyghani and his comrades.

WILTON-SMYTH PUSHES FOR INTERNATIONAL ACTION AFTER TERROR ATTACKS ROCK TSABARA

Image
Wilton-Smyth raised alarm over Zorasani involvement in Tsabara's worsening political crisis.
ASHCOMBE - In the aftermath of the single deadliest terrorist attack in Tsabara’s history and the death of a top Zorasani general, Prime Minister Reginald Wilton-Smyth warned that the crisis had reached the point of no return.

Attacks on mazars throughout the country’s Irfanic-majority regions left 249 dead and hundreds more injured. The attacks targeted worshipers while attending Friday morning prayer services when hundreds gather. Six mazars and an open-air market were targeted by an Atudite extremist group known in Estmerish as the Lions of the Homeland.

Wilton-Smyth echoed statements from his foreign office and denounced the attacks, calling them “crimes against humanity” and warned that the “right to freely practice religion” was at risk of being “totally eroded” in Tsabara.

“These heinous attacks mark an escalation in religious conflict in Tsabara. Tit-for-tat terror attacks on Atudite and Irfani worshipers would unleash devastation upon thousands of civilians seeking to exercise their right to free practice religion. This human right will be totally eroded in a sectarian conflict”.

The Lions claimed the mazar attacks were carried out in reprisal for the 27 December Yeruham Attacks. Irfanic radicals targeted Atudite and Sotirian populations in Tsabara’s largest city, leaving 197 people dead.

Ongoing peace talks in Caldia between the acting Tsabaran government and Irfanic hardliners collapsed after the attacks, marking an escalation in tensions.

The prime minister also said the deaths of a top Zorasani general and several officers were significant.

“Zorasan continues to interfere in the ongoing political crisis in Tsabara. In an attempt to fill the power vacuum with their extremist puppets, the Zorasani military continues to play an alarming role in the crisis. The meeting of a top Zorasani general with the leader of Irfanic extremists in Tsabara is deeply troubling. However, his death will not be mourned”.

General Amir Meyghani and four other senior officers were killed when the Lions attacked their convoy on 17 January. Meyghani had been meeting with a senior Zorasani cleric, Sheik Faizan Salah.

WIlton-Smyth warned that Zorasan would use their deaths as a pretex for an invasion of Tsabara, urging the international community to back the interim Tsabaran government and sanction Zorasan in the event of military intervention.

“What we have seen is a foreign power regularly undermine peace and stability in Tsabara. The result of that was the death of a senior military official. This will be used by the Zorasani military regime to launch an invasion of Tsabara in an attempt to combat the Lions. Any such invasion must be resisted by the international community, using sanctions as deterrence".

He also said that their deaths would not have happened if “Zorasan was not fanning the flames” in Tsabara.

“Why else would they be there?” the prime minister said.

He was also quick to denounced Chervolesia’s recent missile test, calling it a “threat to international peace” and said Chervolesia’s ties to Zorasan showed the two are increasing efforts to cooperate. Both countries were featured in his New Year’s Address in which he argued an “axis of evil” existed, posing a threat to international stability and democratic nations.

Wilton-Smyth said he had already spoken to several EC leaders and support for supplying the government of acting president Nazim al'Qutayni, with material aid had grown.

“This is a step we must take to ensure Tsabara’s sovereignty is upheld and terrorists are stopped”.

EC leaders condemned the attacks and President Alexis Walker said that the international community “had no choice but to act”. She said the EC would be lobbying the Community of Nations to act in the interest of maintaining peace in stability in Tsabara, saying it was “absolutely imperative”.

Walker confirmed that EC leaders would continue discussions on the political crisis that has gripped the world’s third-largest petroleum producer. Its share of the international oil market and location along the Aurean Straits, the world’s busiest waterway, pose threats to Euclean interests in the region.

MILLIONS RALLY IN CONDEMNATION OF TSABARA MASSACRE
Image

PANJSHANBEH 3 BAHMAN 1398| 23 JANUARY 2020 | By Hamid Sattarifar | @Eftekar.zr

Hundreds of thousands of Zorasanis have taken to the streets in condemnation of last Friday’s merciless attacks in Eastern Tsabara, that saw 249 innocent Badawiyans killed and over 300 injured. The marches also commemorated the five army officers martyred, including General Amir Meyghani. The mass marches saw General Alireza Fadavi repeat earlier vows of vengeance against the Atudite extremist group, the Lions of the Homeland.
Image
Hundreds of thousands greeted the coffins of the 5 martyrs in
Zahedan’s Inqelab Square.

Over 800,000 people were present in Inqelab Square in Zahedan, where they greeted the bodies of the five martyred army officers. The crowds chanted “revenge” as the bodies were transported through the square, while they also sang revolutionary songs. General Fadavi who was present at the main stage condemned their killing saying, “the Lion has finally bitten more than it can chew. If the Lions wish to war on all Irfan, then we will give them a war that will end them.”

The general told the colossal crowds, “we will avenge our comrades, just as we will avenge the 249 brothers and sisters slaughtered in Tsabara. If Al-Qutayni cannot defend his people, then we will have no choice but to defend the Irfani ourselves.”

The rally in Zahedan was notable for its fiercely anti-Estmerish tone and atmosphere. Anti-Estmerish messages and sentiments were seen in other major cities. In Qufeira, the capital of the Irvadi UR, thousands chanted slogans against Estmere and its poisonous Prime Minister, Reginald Wilton-Smyth. Rally goers also burnt both Estmerish and Atudite flags, while a large effort of Wilton-Smyth was burnt in the northern Irvadi town of Zekad. In Qufeira, thousands of soldiers marched alongside civilians chanting, “send me to
Tsabara, send me to Estmere.”

Similar mass rallies were held in Mazdavand, Borazjani, Namrin, Ardakan, Sandsar and Bandar-e Inqelab. Over 500,000 people marched in the Khazi UR capital of Faidah. Similar numbers marched in the Union Republics of Ajad, Ninevah, Armavand and Samrin. Governor of Ninevah, Tariq Barzani promised the crowds in Ayd Dahd, “we are going to find Yair and we are going to string him up. By God’s grace we will string up every lion.”

General Fadavi described last Friday’s attacks as an “assault on humanity itself.” While he also criticised the recent deranged rhetorical car crash by Prime Minister Wilton-Smyth, saying, “you can hear his racism and hatred of the Badawiyan and Irfani in every word. With one side of his mouth he talks about crimes against humanity and with the other blames our Union” he drew jeers and cries from the crowd when he asked, “where was his vow to join us in defeating the Lions? Where was his vow to defeat extremism?”

The anachronistic Prime Minister further damaged relations with Zorasan with a speech centred around his now predictable anti-Zorasan obsession.

However, his death will not be mourned” he said.

His speech only received a passing response from the government. The foreign ministry’s spokesman refused to directly respond, replying to a question on the matter with, “we won’t be engaging in this petty game with this man. We alongside the League of the Righteous went to Caldia in good faith. We hold hope that a peaceful solution can be pursued. It remains notable, that Estmere was neither invited nor even on the same page. Euclea would do well to continue sidelining Estmere.”

“We remain open to further discussions with the Caldish government, however, in light of the catastrophic loss of life, we must be realistic” he said further.

The deterioration of relations with Estmere is reaching a point of no return according to a government source. The same source indicated that the only obstacle to Zorasan viewing Estmere’s position being shared by all Euclea was the “excellent statesmanship” of Caldia’s Taoiseach Stiofán Mac Suibhne.

There are unconfirmed reports that either First Minister Farzad Akbari or State President Vahid Isfandiar may visit Caldia in coming days.

The government’s vow of vengeance appears to be well received among the general population. Almost 85% of Zorasanis support some form of intervention in Tsabara, according to a poll conducted by ZorasanSpeaks.

That vengeance also seems soon coming, as hundreds of social media users in northern Irvadistan continue to share to images and videos of convoys of military vehicles and tanks heading to the border region. It has also been reported that the military has began closing off sections of the border to civilians, while special transit routes for the nomadic Badawiyans are being opened in the east.

One military insider told us, “something big is coming. We’re seeing significant deployments of troops, vehicles, tanks, supplies and artillery. Our vengeance is close.”

The same insider said, “there’s undeniable movement at the top that take action regardless of the ravings in Estmere. There’s not much argument on saving Irfani lives or avoiding sanctions. This is a humanitarian issue now, if Euclea only wants to save its money at the expense of thousands of Badawiyan civilians, then Zorasan will have to do the right thing.”

Supreme Custodian, Ayatollah Hassan Roshani is to lead the funeral of the five martyrs, he described the attacks in a social media post as, “the most depraved act of human beings against another. To slaughter when these innocents are closest to God and most at peace with this world, is the work of evil and villainy.”

The Supreme Custodian has been in contact with his Tsabaran counter-part, Ayatollah Abdul Ali Ruad, urging him to take up residence in Zorasan. The Supreme Custodian’s office failed to deny rumours he was preparing a fatwa against the Lions of the Homeland. Such a move would galvanise millions of Irfani across the world, owing to the influence of the Zorasani religious leader.

More as the story develops.

PREEMPTING EC ACTION, CALDIA DESIGNATES TSABARAN LIONS A TERROR GROUP
The Foreign Minister has also signaled talks with Zorasan may resume as tensions continue to run high

Senior Zorasani military officials were killed when their convoy was attacked by the Lions of the Homeland.

SPÁLGLEANN – The Caldish government has officially designated the group behind last week’s deadly mazar attacks as a terrorist group. The group, known in Estmerish as the Lions of the Homeland, killed 249 people and injured over 300.

A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning announced the government’s decision.

“The Caldish government recognizes the ‘Lions of the Homeland’ as a terrorist group. Recent attacks on Tsabara’s civilian population and threats of further attacks against civilians are deeply troubling” the statement said.

This means that the Lions, their leaders, and known affiliates are now barred from traveling to Caldia. Any members of the group found to already be in Caldia will be deported and handed over to the Tsabaran government. It is also illegal for any Caldish citizen or resident to knowingly offer support to the Lions.

The move is significant, as Caldia frequently offers political asylum to agitators in foreign countries. At times, this policy results in diplomatic spats. However, governments have regularly refused to allow those involved in attacks on civilians to remain in the country.

Cities throughout Tsabara's eastern provinces were targeted in Friday’s attacks. THey are home to much of the nation’s Irfanic population. Beytols, the sites of worship in Irfan, were targeted during Friday morning prayers. Many of the temples were packed with worshipers, who were killed when gunmen opened fire. A popular outdoor market was also attacked in the city of Qaa, where three separate mazars were targeted.

As the Tsabaran Crisis continues to worsen, it is likely the Caldish government may take similar action in the future. The government previously designated the group responsible for December’s deadly attacks on the city of Yeruham. Al-Isbah, an Irfanic extremist group, attacked the city on 27 December, leaving 197 people dead and more than 300 injured.

In the statement, the Foreign Ministry also raised concerns over the possibility of worsening sectarian conflicts. The Lions claimed the attacks on mazars were carried out in retaliation for the Yeruham attacks. Tsabara is largely divided on sectarian lines, threatening the status of the acting government. Led by interim president Nazim al'Qutayni, it is an attempt to unite the country’s feuding groups.

Caldia has become home to an increasing number of Tsabarans over the past decades. Many Tsabaran Atudites have relocated to Euclea after the political Irfanists came to dominate the government. A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry downplayed concerns that some of the Atudite diaspora may support the Lions, saying “any hypothetical instances would be covered by this designation and handled accordingly”.

The Caldish government is reported to be considering a ban on travel to Tsabara as tensions in the country are expected to worsen. It has already advised Caldish citizens in Tsabara to make arrangement to leave the country and has discouraged additional travel to Tsabara. Government officials have declined to comment when asked about a travel ban.

Peace talks between the government and representatives Sheik Faizan Salah of collapsed over the weekend after news of the attacks. Mr. Salah is the head of political Irfan in Tsabara and has been at odds with the government since the Irfanist government fell from power last year.

Mr. Salah has close ties to Zorasan. Senior Zorasani military officials were killed by the Lions after leaving a meeting with the influential cleric. General Amir Meyghani and four officers were killed when their convoy was attacked. Zorasan pulled out of talks that were being conducted alongside the intra-Tsabaran talks and has since vowed revenge for Mr. Meyghani’s killing.

Fears of Zorasani military intervention in Tsabara have grown after the convoy attack, with the Zorasani government promising to avenge the deaths of their officials. This has caused alarm throughout Euclean capitals, with Estmerish Prime Minister Wilton-Smyth warning that Zorasan seeks to use Tsabara’s worsening crisis to its advantage. Senior EC officials and Euclean diplomats are also worried about a military conflict in the world’s third largest producer of oil.

Zorasani officials have indicated there is a chance talks with the Caldish government could resume.

Speculation about a visit from First Minister Farzad Akbari or State President Vahid Isfandiar has grown among the Zorasani press. Foreign Minister Séamus Ó Faoláin fueled that speculation when he indicated the talks with Zorasan may resume.

“We are still in touch, and preparations have been made should they be needed” he said when asked about a visit from senior Zorasani officials.

The Caldish government has been proactive in avoiding armed conflict in Tsabara and is seen as being keen on avoiding increased fighting between the country’s religious groups.

Zorasani intervention in Tsabara is understood to be a “red line”, according to one Caldish diplomat. The anonymous source said that any wide-scale military operations conducted in Tsabara would “force [Caldia’s] hand”.

“Any such action must be carried out under the jurisdiction of the Community of Nations. Unilateral military action would force our hand. Isolating Zorasan from the international community is not in the best interests of peace, but there is only so much we can do if accusations from more interventionist voices in Euclea are proven true by military action” the source told GBF News Online.

Tribune government to push ahead with anti-abortion law
Despite opposition and protests, the bill will be presented to the State Council on Monday

Women protesters in central Viclavi this morning.

The Tribune government is to push ahead with its National Family Protection Act despite the widespread opposition from leftist-liberal parties and their supporters. The government had initially postponed its bill reaching the State Council hoping to wait out growing protests.[/b].

The president’s office announced in an online statement this morning that the NFPA will be presented to the State Council on Monday for its final reading. If passes by the State Council, the bill will become law.

The statement said, “the mass protests by the leftist-liberal elites and their agitators will not deter this government from pursuing the means of restoring virtues and traditional family values to Etruria. This government has never been cowed by the elites, it will not now. As such, the National Family Protection Bill will be presented to the upper-chamber of the Senate on Monday 27th.”

The government was shocked by the sudden outburst of protest by women’s rights groups, green movements and other leftist-liberal groups. The protests began on New Year’s Day after the bill passed the Chamber of Representatives, 421-259. The protests spread from Stazzona to Fauglia, San Alessandro, Vicalvi and Solaria by January 3. The mass protests have been peaceful, however, thousands of green activists have joined the protests, expanding the message to a general anti-government and anti-patriot theme. Last week, the protests expanded dramatically once thousands of leftists joined the marches silencing the women’s groups to demand the resignation of the government.

This week saw a greater police presence in the major cities, with Interior Minister Tullio Quagliariello saying that, “our patience and that of normal Etruria is wearing thin. Go back to work, go back to contributing to the country and stop this silliness.”

The government withheld the bill from the state council in hope the protests would die down, however sources are indicating that the government has no intention of withdrawing the bill entirely.

The government is also energised by polls which indicate that 54% of Etrurians back the bill. Though this has fallen from 58% at the start of the year. Etruria being an overwhelmingly Catholic nation has been credited for the government’s support on the bill, with numerous high ranking Etrurian cardinals and bishops expressing support for the bill.

The bill is expected to pass the State Council by Monday evening, while it’s supporting constitutional amendment is expected to pass by midday, owing to the Tribune Movement’s two-thirds majority, that enables it to amend the constitution without a referendum. The Constitutional Court is expected to rule in favour of the bill, due to the pro-right wing majority. Though, legal experts have stated that the passing of the amendment before the bill all but guarantees the bill falling in line with the constitution. One expert applauded the government’s actions, describing them as “brilliantly simple, yet watertight.”

In wake of the government’s statement, some are expecting the protests to grow or escalate. The National Police Service has issued a warning, saying it “would not tolerate vandalism, violence or aggression.”

Lions of the Homeland hit hard overnight by Zorasan

Image
Smoke rises from a destroyed "safehouse" in Al-Khafsah, Qadessiyah Province
Adunis, Adunis Province - At least 110 Lions militants, including its political deputy leader are believed to have been killed in a series of Zorasani drone and missile strikes. The government reported this morning that it had received prior notice of the strikes, while confirming targets had been hit in four provinces and five towns, while a final target was destroyed in rural Karmiel province. Shimshon Alon, a nationalist senator and long suspected Lions leader was confirmed dead alongside his wife and four children.

In an in-depth press conference, the MoD’s spokesman, Rafiq Chamoun explained that the government had received a warning from the Zorasani government shortly after 11pm.

“At 11.03pm local time, the Foreign Ministry was informed by the Zorasani embassy that the country had launched a series of drone and missile strikes against the Lions of the Homeland. They stressed that this was not an attack on the nation of Tsabara, and that they were certain the targets struck were legitimate” he said.

“This notification came exactly ten minutes before the first attack was reported by locals in Ain Djasser province” he said further.

At 11.13pm, two explosions were reported in Azraq ed Tamat and Zekad. The first strike hit a farmhouse in the outskirts of Zekad, destroying the entire structure. This was followed by three explosions that destroyed an Atudite boarding house in the Atudite Quarter of Azraq ed Tamat. The town is predominately used as a housing complex for oil workers, Spokesman Chamoun told reporters that the government suspected it was a Lions safehouse. Initial reports from Zorasani state media claimed the building was hosting attackers from the assault on Mazars in nearby Beit Shajaf last Friday. Reports from the Ain Djasser provincial government say that 16 bodies were retrieved from the rubble, all were reportedly male.

At 11.29pm, an explosion was reported in Al Khafsar, in western Qadessiyah province. The explosion destroyed a small suburban apartment building, which the government had earlier reported was another suspected Lions safehouse. The Qadessiyah provincial government reported that 33 bodies were recovered, among them were at least 10 women.

At 11.39pm, two explosions were reported in Kfar Mazaryk, the wealthy coastal town in Tzoran province. The explosions had destroyed a villa owned by the nationalist senator, Shimshon Alon. He and his family were in residence at the time of the explosions. He and his entire family were confirmed deceased by emergency services in the early hours of this morning. Alon had long courted controversy over his comments about Irfanics and Badawiyans. He had reportedly established a close relationship with Elezar-Ben Yair when the latter served as a senator between 2008 and 2016. The National Security Service had placed Alon under surveillance and investigation last year according to sources close to the agency. The NSS strongly believed Alon was a major figure in the Lions of the Homeland, they also suspected he played an intermediary role between the Lions and Haganah Beitar, another Atudite nationalist militia group. The loss of Alon according to Spokesman Chamoun “would be keenly felt by the Lions, who have lost their most prominent political thinker and operator.”

At 11.43pm, six explosions and one larger one rocked an industrial site in Karmiel’s provincial capital of Zahana. The first six explosions destroyed a series of warehouses and large sections of a disused factory building, after several minutes these were succeeded by a much larger explosion that rocked the entire city.

Eye-witnesses have described being awoken by the first six successive bangs or explosions, going to their windows or into the streets to investigate, only to be shook by a much larger and louder explosion. This sixth explosion flattened a wide area, setting numerous fires and blowing out windows. The MoD believes that this final explosion may have been vast collections of ammunition and weaponry being set off by the previous strikes.

As such, Mr. Chamoun said, “it is our belief that the incident in Zahana was a successful, albeit, very damaging strike against a large weapons cache. We are very fortunate that no casualties were caused by this devastating destruction.”
Image
Senator Shimshon Alon and now confirmed political head of the
Lions of the Homeland, was killed in last night's strikes.

The final strike of the night came shortly after midnight, when a large encampment in the rural foothills of Karmiel province was destroyed by what the MoD described as “two land-attack cruise missiles or ballistic missiles.” When local farmers reported to the police the large booms and flashes in the hills, upon arrival, the police were startled to discover a burning collection of shacks and tents.

Mr Chamoun said, “what was discovered and being investigated this moment was an expansive collection of ramshackle buildings and tents, we also discovered what can be described as firing ranges and obstacle courses. This site is located deep in the Karmiel foothills and is distant from any major populated area. It is our belief that this was a major Lions training camp.”

The MoD spokesman went on to confirm that over 80 bodies had been retrieved from the site.

“Among the rubble and debris, were 88 bodies, while 11 survivors were found and are currently receiving medical treatment. These eleven individuals have been identified as suspected terrorists and are now under arrest. Army units are in the process of securing the site and investigating further for any intelligence or data that can be useful in the nation’s effort to defeat extremism” he said.

Mr. Chamoun then went on to denounce the strikes by Zorasan saying, “what these strikes do is not necessarily any good. While we recognise the intent and meaning behind these strikes in relation to the ambush that killed five Zorasani army officers, we condemn them wholeheartedly. These strikes violate Tsabara’s national sovereignty and greatly undermine the government’s ability to maintain territorial integrity.”

Interim President Nazim al-Qutayni has convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council to discuss the strikes. The president’s office released a statement condemning the strikes as “unwanted and gravely irresponsible, while also a grave insult to Tsabara’s sovereignty.”

Despite the condemnations, some sources close to the government have expressed both relief and even gratitude.

Over the past week since the tragic events of last Friday, there has been a constant build-up of military forces on the Zorasani border. Many in the government and abroad have feared that the killing of five Zorasani officers, as well as the deaths of 249 Irfani Badawiyan civilians would provoke a full-scale intervention by Tsabara’s powerful neighbour. The fact that the country’s “promised vengeance” was limited to surgical drone and missile strikes would have brought much calming relief to government and military figures.

Yet, as one MoD source told us, “while we count our blessings Zorasan’s revenge wasn’t an invasion, what last night proves is that they possess the intelligence and capabilities to strike the Lions where it hurts. More worryingly, the success of the strikes may well lead to a prolonged campaign of drone and missile strikes. If we lose civilians, if they strike military targets by accident or on purpose, we’re in an entirely different situation.”

Government under pressure to withdraw as eastern provinces assemble national guards.

Image
Members of the Aïn Djasser National Guard were the first to mobilise,
prompting similar responses from other eastern provinces.
Adunis, Adunis Province - The government has come under enormous internal pressure from residing its own ranks and opposition parties within the Grand Assembly to 'withdraw' military forces stationed in the eastern provinces of the country. The calls come following a tumultuous week: the Mazar Attacks, the death of a Zorasani General, the deterioration of negotiations between the Government of National Unity and Sheik Salah's supporters and a Zorasani missile strike against the Lions of the Homeland. Elements of the military were deployed in an effort to oversee the protests in the area, as well as defend from insurgencies from the Lions and Al-Isbah.

However, with the level of instability currently facing the country, as well as the renewed aggression between Adunis and Salah's supporters, tensions have been rising. The Province of Aïn Djasser confirmed this morning it had begun to organise and deploy its national guard, prompting similar responses from Juraynah, Hassani Abdelkrim, Aïn Yagout and Qadessiyya. A vote in Bedjene to follow suit was defeated, but there are reports portions of the guard with sympathies to Salah are rallying regardless. Much of the reasoning for their deployment comes after the death of Senator Shimshon Alon, an important senator in the Tsabaran Senate, who's death revealed him to be a member of the 'Lions of the Homeland.' Salah's followers have described this as a "culmination of [their] worst fears, terrorists in government."

Skirmishes between these national guards and government forces in the region, including minor excursions into military check-points and military bases, have been reported. Al-Isbah has claimed that numerous Badawiyan regiments have defected, with cooperative forces between Salah's forces, these ex-military units and the Awoken seizing military supplies from military bases across the provinces.

President Nazim al'Qutayni has confirmed that the government will take steps to 'de-escalate' the conflict by withdrawing military presence in certain areas, of which have yet to be disclosed. He said that "the nation is grieving and tensions are high, the people are angry and are looking for an enemy in their own military." He also urged the resumption of dialogue between the government and Salah, especially in the wake of the 'joint Zorasani/Tsabaran action' on the Lions. The calls come after the government reaffirmed its commitment to declaring the Lions as a terrorist organisation, declaring them joint 'enemies of the federation' alongside Al-Isbah.

Claims that the government has scrambled attack aircraft have been denied, but they did confirm that 'some vessels' of the navy had been sent to Bayadha in Trifaoui on the nation's southern coast.

Farmers continue their protest against 'unfair environmental regulations'.
The FNSEA and its members have taken their protest of government environmental policy straight to the capital.

Verlois, Gaullica

The FNSEA (Fédération nationale des syndicats d'exploitants agricoles) continue their protest against elements of Gaullica's 'Fair Green Deal'. The government had passed the bill in the final session of last year's meeting of the Senate. Its provisions, and the cause of the protest on behalf the farmers, includes an increase in the carbon-tax, a reintroduction of certain elements of wildlife (such as the Euclean lynx), the banning of a large amount of pesticides, including all five that are known as being harmful to bees. Further elements include the commitment to developing a strong 'meat-free' alternative, as well as funding towards producing synthetic meat.

The FNSEA fought these elements of the bill through its senatorial support groups, but this was not enough to remove these elements from the bill. Agriculture is an important aspect of the Gaullican economy, and Gaullican agricultural products are world renowned for their quality. Within the Euclean Community, Gaullica is affectionately referred to as 'The Euclean Garden' amongst agriculturalists and ruralists. Protests began through petitions and reconsideration, with the FNSEA arguing that the ban would "slant the playing field to countries" who hadn't began a pesticide ban. Futhermore, much of the FNSEA argued the government's support of synthetic meat was a 'betrayal' to farmers and ranchers in the country -- arguing that the products of the lab, as well as meat-free alternatives, would undercut Gaullica's own agricultural businesses.

Today however, protests reached a new level as thousands of tractors descended onto Verlois with claims that the government was treating farmers unfairly. Placards and signs upon the vehicles called for support from the populace, arguing that Gaullican -- and Euclean -- agriculture was the 'safest' and 'cleanest' in the world due to scientific advancements. Others called the PSD-LV coalition 'complacent' and 'unaware of the challenges' experienced by the rural community.

One of the farmers we were able to interview highlighted a growing concern amongst them: "The government is coming after us and us alone", he said. "They are not-- this bill isn't going as into depth with the real cause of polluters, the big businesses, the cars and the petrol and the airliners."

The farmers have clearly made their message heard, as long traffic jams were expected into Verlois. Much of the internal traffic also became congested, as did elements of public transportation.

Public opinion has not yet swayed to either side, but many citizens in Verlois have noted their displeasure and annoyance to the disruptions on twitter. However, many environmentalists are also echoing the calls that the government has not met its targets on 'fighting polluters' and that more needs to be done, particularly against the aeronautics industry. Air Gaullica, in which the government is the single largest shareholder, has been 'noticeable absent' from the plans in the 'Fair Green Deal', protesters are claiming.

Georges Berengar the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Agrifood and Forestry announced he was "open to talks" with the leaders of the FNSEA, to provide "concrete assurances that Gaullican agriculture would not be harmed."

Deputy Premier and Minister for the Environment, Marie-Justine Tiquet echoed her willingness to cooperate with the farmers, calling them an "integral part of Gaullica."

Eco-activists disrupt Maljubav Motor Show

MALJUBAV, Minilov — During the last weekend of the Maljubav Motor Show, members of the radical climate action group called Mother Nature's Mayhem staged at a protest inside the exhibition hall at Maljubav Expo on Saturday afternoon. According to the group, the Motor Show that this year features a large range of new electric and hybrid vehicle should be called the “Show of Lies” as so-called “green” vehicles are anything but CO2 neutral. The organisation pointed to the fact that the production of the electricity to power such vehicles is not CO2 neutral. This is also the case when it comes to the energy used to power the factories that produce electric and hybrid vehicles and the lorries and ships used to transport them from the factory to the showroom.

The activists made speeches, handed out leaflets and threw themselves in front of some of the cars that were on display. Some activists even glued themselves to an electrically powered car that was on display at the show. The activists had detailed on their website that they plan to disrupt the busiest days of the Motor Show. The activists staged their protest at dozens of locations inside the exhibition hall. It lasted around two hours on the show floor as well as outside on the parking lot, and finished at around 13:00h in the afternoon.

The organiser of the show expressed his worry about the acts causing panic in the crowds, and has questioned the safety of the initiative. Around 110 activists were detained during the protest that was unauthorised.

CASTELONOVO - Following the announcement released by the Chervolesian Strategic Nuclear Rocket Force which stated a successful intercontinental ballistic test, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs issued a letter condemning the same by saying that it was a “totally unacceptable act that threatens the stability of Asteria and compromises the national sovereignty of its peoples,” in a move that received support from both the government and opposition.

According to Chervolesian media, the test was realized at 05:45 AM in an unknown location and was oversaw by the Technical Secretary Vasilissa Masalina-Mravinskaya herself. After the success of the test, Mravinskaya praised scientists and other members of the project due to their “great work in advancing socialism” and said that the missile was a “great weapon.”

In Belmonte, the news of the missiles test was met with protests and disapproval by the government and opposition. Outside Válega Palace, the Leader of the Opposition João Sócrates (UCN) showed support to the government’s position, but said that what was made is nothing more than a “governmental obligation.” He also proceeded to say that Chervolesia is a “threat to Asteria” and hoped that international sanctions will be imposed.

Foreign Secretary Marta Sampaio, who is the leader the Socialist Bloc too, also condoned the government’s view, however, she expressed her wishes that the situation will end through diplomatic ways and said that sanctions are going to be used only in “exclusively extreme” cases.

The Prime Minister’s Office didn’t say anything about the matter yet.

HURRICANE ANABELLE SLAMS KINGSPORT BEFORE HEADING TO BAHIAN MAINLAND

Image
The Category 2 hurricane significantly damaged the island's infrastructure, delaying response time.
KINGSTON - Hurricane Anabelle has caused significant damage to the island of Kingsport after making landfall yesterday. The territorial government has confirmed 12 deaths so far and the number is expected to rise further. Millions in damage has been inflicted upon the small island, home to over 30,000 people. The Category 2 hurricane brought 100 mph winds to Kingsport.

The city of Kingston, Kingsport’s capital and largest settlement, has seen a number of buildings damaged by the storm. Residents were told to shelter in place by local authorities, who warned against traveling to the Coian mainland to avoid the storm. In Kingston alone seven deaths have been reported, a number the territorial government expects to rise.

“The situation is still unfolding” David Henry, a spokesman for Kingston’s government, said.

“High winds and dangerous weather conditions have made assessing the storm’s impact very difficult”.

Anabelle damaged the island’s road network, with sections of the road washing out and collapsing. This has complicated the territorial government's efforts to respond to the storm’s impact.

Territorial Executive Maurice Renouf said he had been in contact with the federal government and has spoken to Prime Minister Reginald Wilton-Smyth.

“The support offered to us by the federal government has been encouraging and will be a great help as we begin the process of recovering” Renouf told local reporters at a press conference.

A statement released by the prime minister’s office said the federal government was “closely watching” the situation and would “offer [the territorial government] any support needed”.

Kingsport is located along the Coian hurricane belt. The island has been hit by a number of hurricanes and tropical storms before, but an early storm like Anabelle is uncommon. Most storms come during the storm season, beginning in June.

The small island is home to one of Estmere’s largest overseas military bases. Nearly 8,000 service members and their families live in Kingsport alongside the island’s civilian population. The island has a total population of 34,581.

A number of Estmerish naval ships are based out of Kingsport. The fleet was sent to Brumah last week, where it will remain docked until later this week.

The territorial government has estimated that there could be as many as 80 deaths caused by Anabelle. It is an unusually high number for a Category 2 storm. Reports of a roof collapse in Mt. Pleasant, Kingsport’s second largest settlement, have bolstered the number. Residents were seeking shelter in the school at the time of the collapse. The territorial government has confirmed there are fatalities in the incident but has not yet released a number.

Damage to critical infrastructure has prevented the emergency services from responding to calls in some areas of the island, resulting in the possibility of indirect deaths caused by Anabelle.

The storm is set to hit the southern coast of Tabora on Saturday and will evolve into a Category 4 storm.

Union inflicts heavy damage on Lions in vengeance operation

Zahedan, Union Capital Territory- The indomitable armed forces of the Union have inflicted heavy losses on the extremist Lions of the Homeland with overnight drone and missile strikes. The Revolutionary Army struck several key targets, including a training camp and the home of its leading political figure. Zorasani intelligence is reporting that over 100 terrorists were killed.

In a decisive display of the Union’s national power, the Lions of the Homeland were struck last night by five drone strikes and missile attack. The operation was launched in revenge for the January 17 massacres, that saw 249 Irfanic Badawiyans killed and 344 injured, and for the attack that martyred five Zorasani officers, including General Amir Meyghani.

In the late hours of last night, the foreign ministry informed the Tsabaran government that Zorasan was striking the Lions “imminently” and that these strikes were not aimed at “the nation or peoples of Tsabara.” The same time, the Revolutionary Army Land Forces launched five Shahed-130 drones, armed with missiles into Tsabara. These drones then travelled north and dispersed toward their various targets.

The first targets destroyed were safe houses used by the terrorist organisation. Buildings were demolished in the eastern towns of Azaq ed Tamat and Zekad, leaving over 25 terrorists dead.

The next target was a safe house and weapons cache in the southern town of Al-Khasfar. The apartment building which had long been suspected of being a major hub of the terrorist group in the suburbs of Hitteen, was completely flattened. Up to 30 terrorists were killed in the strike.

Next came the hardest hit, with a Shahed-130 launching two of its missiles at the villa of Shimshon Alon. Both the military’s General Intelligence Directorate and the Ministry of State Intelligence and Security reported that Alon, despite being a sitting member of the Tsabaran senate, was in fact one of the most senior members of the Lions. MSIS and GID claim that Alon was the terrorist group’s principal political thinker, producing the racial and supremacist worldview that the Lions spread through violence. The Shahed-130 destroyed his home in the coastal town of Kfar Masaryk, killing him and his entire family.

Following the death of the political mastermind behind the Atudite extremist group, the military struck a large weapons store in the city of Zahana. The drone strike destroyed a vast collection of weapons and explosives, stolen from the Tsabaran federal army over the course of months since last year. The joint MSIS-GID report claimed that, “thousands of weapons and tons of ammunition, medical supplies and explosives were destroyed. Our intelligence led to the Land Forces setting the Atudite extremist scourge back months.”
Image
Thousands continue to march in mourning of General Amir Meyghani.

The final act of vengeance came with the deaths of over 80 terrorists, when the Land Forces launched two Emad-ye Kheshm land-attack cruise missiles. The missiles obliterated a large camp in rural Karmiel province, destroying supplies, ammunition and vehicles. The National Security Command Council (NSCC) which released all information on last night’s operation stated that further missile attacks were planned and readied but aborted over concerns it would upset the Tsabaran government.

The NSCC spokesman, Colonel Jamal Hussein, told reporters this morning, “we struck the enemy hard last night. We killed over 100 of them, including their political mastermind, the right-hand man of Elazar-Ben Yair, the terrorist warlord. While further missile strikes were planned against other targets, we did not wish to provoke further deteriorations in our relations and work with the Tsabaran government.”

So concerned was the government that Tsabara may have retaliated or impeded the operation, the Air Force had fuelled and armed several squadrons of fighters.

“Fortunately, our operation was a success and we struck the enemy hard. We avenged our five martyred comrades and avenged the 249. We proved to our enemies and rivals, we showed the world our might and capabilities. The Lions should know, that we know where they are and who they are. This is a war they will lose” he said further.

In an emergency address to the Popular Council, First Minister Farzad Akbari told MPs, “in retaliation for the barbarism of last week, and the martyrdom of five brave soldiers of the revolution, we struck back against the Atudite terror. We rose up from our grief and struck the enemy hard and swiftly, now it is they who grieve.”

The First Minister went on to say, “let all know, that this is not the last time that we shall strike the dreaded terror, we will do so again and again if the threat rises. We will not allow this terror to reign supreme in Coius and certainly not reign over the Irfanic world.”

The State President’s office confirmed that Tsabara’s interim premier, Aslan Ocalan would be visiting Zahedan in coming days. The office said, “the interim premier of Tsabara will be attending high-level discussions with the State President and First Minister to discuss the situation in Tsabara and the threat of Atudite extremism.”

TO KEEP THE PEACE, MAC SUIBHNE PURSUES THE SUPPORT OF TYRANTS
As a Tsabaran conflict appears more likely, the Taoiseach works to enlist Zorasan to prevent war
29 January 2020 | Rónán Ó Ceanndubháin

Image
Taoiseach Stiofán Mac Suibhne received Zorasani State President Vahid Isfandiari in Spálgleann for new talks this morning.

GROWING crisis in Tsabara has presented the international community with challenges for over a year. What started with highly sectarian political and judicial reforms has spiraled into tit-for-tat terrorist exchanges between radical religious groups. To make things worse, the world’s third-largest producer of oil is wedged between Zorasan and Euclean powers keen to prevent the former’s influence from increasing even further. The Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics is at the center of sectarian strife in Tsabara, and it shows little signs of backing away. In an attempt to ensure it does, Stiofán Mac Suibhne has enlisted the support of the military regime that governs Zorasan. Or at least, so he has tried.

The taoiseach has attempted to mediate the crisis, preventing it from spiraling out of control. It was an admirable attempt after hundreds of civilians were killed or injured in a series of terrorist attacks that rocked Tsabara’s largest city and shocked the world. Talks between the acting Tsabaran government, billed by its supporters as a unity government, and hardline political Irfanists were held last month. There was some optimism for the talks despite the mammoth of a gap that Caldish mediators needed to bridge. The acting government was brought to power following a coup that ousted political Irfanists, exasperating religious tensions further. There was little chance that the Irfanists would find accord with the unity government, but Zorasani pressure on Tsabara’s leading cleric, Sheik Faizan Salah, raised hopes.

Talks only came about because of pressure on Salah applied by his backers in Zorasan’s military government. The devastation and carnage of the Yeruham Attacks, at the time the worst in Tsabara’s history, showed Zahedan its backing of religious radicals was not without consequence. The talks depended on international pressure on Zorasan, which in turn resulted in Zorasani pressure on the powerful cleric. On the sidelines of the Intra-Tsabaran peace talks, Mac Suibhne personally led discussions with Zorasani officials. The nature of these parallel talks were withheld from the public, but sources familiar with them have indicated they centered on ways to de-escalate tensions between Zorasan and Euclean powers, chiefly Estmere.

Retaliatory attacks on Irfanic sites or worship brought the end of the peace talks. Even more deadly than the attacks on Yeruham, the 17 January attacks on Tsabara’s Irfanic population doomed the efforts of Caldish diplomats to bring the feuding factions to agreement. The assassination of a senior Zorasani general and several officers also ended Zorasan’s willingness to continue talks with Mac Suibhne himself.

Without a dialogue, the situation in Tsabara has only continued to deteriorate. Reports in the Tsabaran press have alarmed diplomats, as Irfanic-majority states begin to mobilize their militias. The nation is on the brink of civil war, a civil war that has been fueled by Zorasani meddling.

Yet, the cornerstone of the taoiseach’s peace plan for Tsabara was Zorasan. It is no surprise that these efforts have failed when the nation behind so much of Tsabara’s chaos was not just invited to participate, but essential to getting intra-Tsabaran talks started. Cooperation with Zorasan has won Mac Suibhne praise from their officials, painting him as the paragon of Euclean statesmanship in contrast with the hawkish Reginald Wilton-Smyth, Estmere’s prime minister.

Caldish diplomats pushed to restart talks with Zorasan. Their public calls were met with Zorasani intervention against an Atudite terrorist group in Tsabara. To secure revenge for its fervent masses, the Zorasani military launched a series of strikes against the Lions of the Homeland. A part of their effort was assassinating a sitting member of the Tsabaran parliament. This foreign intervention has pushed Tsabara even closer to civil war. Instead of condemnation, Zorasan was rewarded with a photo-op. Vahid Isfandiar, the Zorasani State President, arrived in Spálgleann late last night for renewed talks with Mac Suibhne to try and avoid all out war in Tsabara. This comes after Zorasani state media reported one of its senior leaders would visit Mac Suihbne to restart their dialogue. They sent Vahid Isfandiar for the second time. These talks are destined to have the same fate as the first, as Zorasan has shown little interest in respecting Tsabara’s sovereignty or avoiding actions that fuel sectarian tensions.

Mac Suibhne’s peace plan comes with a high cost. His government is prevented from criticizing Zorasan for fear of wounding their fragile self-image of tyrants. While the Caldish government has offered soft criticism of Zorasan in the wake of allegations it is pursuing a nuclear warhead and the Zorasani strikes in Tsabara over the weekend, it has been muted. The support of these tyrants is all too central to his plan. It appears Mac Suibhne has opted to appease and embrace them in the interests of peace, as opposed to standing up for our principles.

Human rights in Zorasan are a major issue that has gone unaddressed. Zorasan’s nuclear program is a major issue that has gone unaddressed. Zorasani political military intervention in Tsabara is a major issue that has gone unaddressed. This pattern is deeply troubling. Peace is important, but the terms of peace must not hand the despots and military regimes of our world exactly what they want.

WRIT FOR 2020 GENERAL ELECTION DROPPED

After the passage of the budget for the 2020 fiscal year, Democratic Labour leader Douglas Egnell requested dissolution of Parliament for the election period, with the request granted by President Edmondo Privitera, thereby marking the start of a fifty-six day long election campaign, with the vote scheduled to be held on 27 March.

Following the granting of the request, Douglas Egnell addressed a crowd in Cuanstad, saying that "while the government has accomplished a lot in the past four years, the fact of the matter is that there is still a lot to do to make the lives of all Imaguans better than they are now. To give us another term will help our country prosper in a way that will benefit you."

However, there are many challenges faced by the Democratic Labour Party: while it has been popular for its approach towards combatting illegal immigration and reducing the "burden" of refugees from Marirana, in addition to their social policies, many people, especially in the Assimas and in rural Imagua feel that the government is not doing enough in addressing these problems. As well, concerns from the financial industry that the social policies and regulations are undermining Imagua's competitiveness on the world stage have reverberated through the general public. All of these could have the potential to suggest that the DLP may lose control of the Lesser House, even if they win the election.

Current polls from the Cuanstad Sentinel suggest that the DLP is in the lead, with 31.5% of respondents supporting them, 30.2% of respondents supporting the Nationals, 17.8% of respondents supporting the Movement for a New Imagua, and 16.2% of respondents supporting the Greens, with 4.3% supporting other political parties, with predictions being a minority government by the DLP.

Government drives wedge between FNSEA members.
After almost two weeks of FNSEA protest, the government has responded by meeting none of their demands.

The FNSEA's almost two week long protest against the government's 'Fair Green Deal' met an unexpected turn today as within the Senate the government successfully passed a reform to agriculture that, as many have noted, does not actively address the demands put forward by the FNSEA. Whilst protests began over numerous provisions of the environmental bill that forms a key-cornerstone of the SD-LV coalition, nothing within the "Family Farm Bill" accounts for their grievances against pesticide bans, animal reintroduction and the 'betrayal of agriculture' through support of synthetic meat, and so on.

Legislation had been formulating since the FNSEA voiced its disapproval with government policy back in December, but has only really come into fruition in the last few weeks as pressure mounted. Georges Berengar, the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Agrifood and Forestry, who had a large role in the Family Farm Bill, said that "It was at the top of our agenda," before adding that "the dissatisfaction amongst the farming communities has been heard."

The Family Farm Bill, however, does not back-track on any of the things introduced within the 'Fair Green Deal.' Farmers' interests had been in scaling back in the banning of certain pesticides, limiting the reintroduction of species and even removing government funding from meat alternatives and synthetic meat. Instead the government had undergone a policy of changing the way that the Rural Payments Agency distributed the farming subsidies from the Euclean Community. Before, whilst farmers categorised as 'small farmers' or 'family farmers' would receive €600 in the 'small farmer scheme', the Gaullican government has now lifted this to €800 in economic support. Furthermore, any farm under 150 acres in size is set to receive an increase in the balance of subsidies, derived directly from 'larger farms.' The Gaullican Government as well as the EC commissioner on agriculture cited this as "true to the mission of the Common Agricultural Policy." Furthermore, the bill makes reference to bee-keepers and their instrumental role in agriculture

Political commentators have argued the plan is set to wedge the members of the FNSEA into those camps of 'big' and 'small' agriculture, with the government keen to get support of the smaller, more traditional, 'family run farms', as part of the SD-LV attempts to bring in domestic reformations to larger farms. Whether it is related or not, protests have been dying down as of recently - especially as factionalism takes over the FNSEA for the time being.

HURRICANE ANABELLE SLAMS INTO SOUTHERN TABORA

Image
Hurricane Anabelle as seen from space as it made landfall in southern Tabora.
NTENDEKA - Hurricane Anabelle has devastated much of southern Tabora after it made landfall as a category 4 storm. The regions of Ekuseni, Mbazwana, Manzengwenya and Lulwane have all been affected, with the city of Oshabeni reporting “catastrophic damage.” The government had earlier declared a state of emergency in the southern regions and had begun evacuating people from coastal communities most at risk, but the storm had increased in speed and forced a premature end to the evacuation. The government is urging people to remain indoors while it has begun deploying army units and medical personnel.

Hurricane Anabelle made landfall at Shikishela in Ekuseni region at 06.11am this morning. Heavy rain and strong winds then ravaged the region as the storm progressed westward, with Mbazwana, Manzengwenya and Lulwane regions also being impacted.

In all four regions, there are widespread reports of electricity being lost, extensive flooding and serious damage to infrastructure. The largest city in the south, Oshabeni has been hit by a storm surge reportedly reaching 4.4m in depth. Winds reached a speed of 146mph at 09.21am over Oshabeni, while smaller coastal communities have been cut-off due to flooding and the destruction of non-tarmacked roads.

The government had warned of the dangers of high-winds and flying debris. Most of the buildings in southern Tabora are constructed with iron-sheet roofs, which are highly susceptible to coming away due to winds.

Hospitals and emergency centres in Oshabeni have reported a large number of people with injuries from flying debris, while eyewitnesses have told instances of people being decapitated by debris or loose roof-sheets.

Officials have also reported serious damage to communities further inland, with the towns of Nkonkoni and Zimanga suffering from rain-induced landslides.

Heavy rainfall has also led to flooding from the Pongola River in Mbazwana Region. Regional officials had attempted to shore-up temporary defences along the Pongola River, but warned that they would likely fail in the event of torrential downpours exceeding earlier expected measurements.

Prime Minister Tembeka Rubusana told reporters at a press conference that the “situation remains ongoing”, he said the National Weather Service expected to the storm to progress westward toward Garambura later tonight, “we expect the worst to be over by the late hours of this evening, though that does not mean the danger will be less” he said.

The PM went on to reassure the country that the government was prepared, “we have army units and specialist teams ready to immediately deploy to the southern regions as soon as the storm clears. We are prepared to assist the injured and search for the missing.”

“But we must be prepared for loss of life, this remains a deadly storm and damage will be severe” he warned.

The government has defended itself following extensive criticism by some over the what is being described as a “botched evacuation effort.”

Prime Minister Rubusana said, “while it is regrettable that we could not evacuate as many as we wished, the hurricane arrived sooner than expected, we operated on the assumption that we had six or eight hours more time. The government did make progress and we will aid those in need.”

The government’s evacuation of vulnerable coastal communities was cut short by the quicker arrival of the storm than what was expected by the NWS. However, much of the criticism has been aimed at the lateness of the evacuations, with the first taking place midday on Thursday.

Mxolisi Mchunu, the former head of the National Emergency Response Administration criticised the government saying, “there can be no doubt that the government botched any pre-landfall evacuation or preparation. Beginning evacuations only two days before is shocking.” He made the comments on “Sawubona Tabora.”

He went on to say, “these communities are supported by poor infrastructure, you cannot realistically evacuate half a million people by dirt roads, this takes time and two days was never enough time. The fact that the hurricane struck before evacuations were complete lays at the feet of the government.”

With the storm steadily moving west, the recovery operation is expected to begin within the next few hours. It is likely in the coming hours and days, the true extent of Hurricane Anabelle’s devastation will become clearer.

RELATIONS WITH MABIFIA TO BE RESTORED
Mambo Munashe Ngonidzashe to appoint ambassador, rehabilitate Mugwagwa, invite Hourege Jolleh-Bande for state visit

His Most Faithful Majesty in Port Fitzhubert, 2020

Gondo Chikwava | 17 JANUARY, 2020 14:43 | TCHINAMANO, RWIZIKURU

Today, His Most Faithful Majesty announced in the border town of Tchinamano that Rwizikuru will "re-establish diplomatic relations" with Mabifia after over five decades of severed relations as a result of the Mabifian-Rwizikuran War, with plans to appoint an ambassador to Mabifia, to rehabilitate the Mugwagwa to allow the restoration of cross-border travel, and invited Hourege Mahmadou Jolleh-Bande to visit the Kingdom of Rwizikuru.

Munashe Ngonidzashe said that "for over five decades, we stubbornly refused to recognise the reality on the ground that the parts of Yekumavirira west of the Purple Line was part of Mabifia. We were blinded by rage, by a desire to avenge those who have fallen, and by the delusion that we would one day be able to retake those territories."

"As those who lived and grew grow old, it has become less and less realistic that Rwizikuru will ever be able to take back Yekumavirira," he continued. "This was why after heated debate at the constitutional convention, we were able to agree upon only having twelve districts within the constitution, which will be all the Kingdom of Rwizikuru will have."

"With this barrier out of the way, it is now time for Rwizikuru and Mabifia to bury the rifle, and re-establish diplomatic ties with one another," the Mambo declared. "We intend on appointing an ambassador within the coming week, and we plan on rehabilitating the Mugwagwa so that normal cross-border travel can be restored by the end of the year."

"I also would like to extend an invitation to the Hourege of Mabifia to visit the Kingdom of Rwizikuru, to help construct a relationship based on the principles of peace and brotherhood between fellow Bahian peoples, with the goal of restoring diplomatic relations, so that the CN peacekeeping mission on the Purple Line can be terminated," he said. "These approaches will hopefully ensure peace in Bahia, and ensure that people in both Mabifia and Rwizikuru have more opportunities than they have had for the past five decades."
