Duchess Caroline Melodia Neidastatt Schimmoeller

Age 32
Hair color: chestnut brown hair
Eye color: Hazel
A conservative emerald green ball room gown, with violet embroidery. A small diamond and emerald tiara adorns her hair which is done up in a high bun with a wrap around braid.

Her controversial stint as Viceroy of Theia during its infamous collapse as well as other scandalous behavior has seen Caroline quietly pushed pushed out of the public eye to the periphery of the Rhamosian sphere. However, her championship of Nutk rights has seen her rise back into prominence as one of the more controversial figures in the colonial limelight. She has since founded the Foundation for Mercy and Forgiveness, a program designed to help veterans of the Grasslands campaigns find forgiveness for the many war crimes committed amongst their victims. This has led her to be center of counter culture movement aimed at eliminating racial discrimination against the nutk people in colonial Rhamosian lands.

Lady Violette Elina Schimmoeller
Age 14
Eye color: Green
Hair color: Dark Blonde
A conservative ball gown matching her adoptive mother. She wears her hair back in a braided ponytail adorned as well with a small diamond tiara.

Violette is Caroline's adopted Nutk daughter that is something of an open yet dirty secret amongst the nobility. Caroline has gone to great lengths to hid violette heritage although it is not hard to imagine where she has come from as she appeared during Theia incident. An orphan of the war she has no memory of her life before hand and considers herself to be Rhamosian. She is always seen in the company of her adopted mother and wears the best make up money can buy to hide her nutk origin.

Viceroy Baron Florence Easen Velonea Marche
Age: 45
Eye color: Brown
Hair Color: Graying black
formal black double-breasted frock coats with silk-faced lapels, light grey waistcoats, cashmere striped formal trousers. His family's coat of arms is embroidered on his left breast pocket and the Rhamosian coat of arms pin is worn on his lapel.

The Viceroy of Edrina, the Baron has seen fit to use the Ball as an informal show of good will to his neighbor as the two have been on shakey terms at best. Coupled with the recent tensions in the south, the Viceroy hopes to demonstrate a degree of separation between his colony and those that have recently butted heads with the JVP. The stress of recent events is shown in the man's graying hair.

Baron Oyswen Deleon Velonea Marche
Age 16
Eye Color: Brown
Hair color: Black
Osywen wears matching attire to his father save for his is a dark royal blue in color, with gold embroidery.

Osywen does not want to be here, he was brought along as a date for Violette. It is possible the his father is trying to pair him off with the girl in order to improve his family's standing enough to be moved away from Edrina.

Sun Palace, Seoul Joseon. The JVP

Vivi looked over the pile of invites on her small table in her work chambers. The party was about a few months off, but she had to get these out. She started going through them and setting the invites into three boxes. One labeled Aels, another Markion, and the last Others.

"Lets see, Denethier. Hmmm. Maybe i'll have him escort Gemma in. I think she still has a little crush on him." Vivi laughed as she placed the invite into the Aels Box. "That would be a funny. Maybe he would offer her a dance. The red on her cheeks would be worth all the money I have in my account."

She looked at the next few invites and placed them into their respected boxes. She also made sure to send out the packets to the other Families. They of course would have their own list of guests and she knew they would take this event as a chance to flirt, court, and find their way into positions of power." Vivi rolled her eyes. She remembered how Uncle would try to get her to dance with some Duke's Son, in hopes that he could get their family on his side for some plot.

"Vivi, Duke Hands Son has been stealing looks at you all night. He is very handsome. Why don't you do dance with him?" He would say to her, and she would slowly walk over to this Son, he would hold his hand out and ask for a dance, and they dance. The whole time her Uncle would be talking to the boys father about who knows what, and the boy would be trying to steal a kiss. always like clockwork.

"To bad Uncle passed before he could marry me off. Though I did not make it easy on him by Sign up for the Order." She giggled to herself as she remember telling her Uncle that she was deploying the middle East, when he set up a date for her. "I'm Sorry Uncle. I wanted to find my own happiness. " She said, as she stepped away from her table.

"Maybe some young man will take my breath away at this party. Maybe Gemma will fight me for the throne. Maybe she'll want to build a snowman." She laughed as heard a small knock on the door.

"Ah..." Vivi began as she looked around, quickly going over how she wanted to be perceived by whoever this was at her door. She spotted a sword on the wall and quickly rushed to grab it as she yelled out. "You may Enter."

"My High Queen" Began a maid as she looked at Vivi posing next to a window with sword in hand. "Ahh... I see you are having a moment. I'll bring the tea back later." The Maid said as she backed her way out the door.

Vivi's ears grew red. "Wait... Wait Ketevan." Vivi said as she replaced the sword on the wall. "I'll have my tea now." Vivi made her way to the table again and had seat as she helped Ketevan clear the table.

Ketevan was a Nukt woman from Southwest Aels. Small black tattoo of three lines on her fair Olive skin, gave away her heritage and your tribe. Tamaech'o, one of the tribes that fall under the flag of the JVP.

"Thank you Ketevan. I don't know what I would do without you." Vivi said, as looked over the woman in front of her again. She did not know to much about the Nutk people. Her Uncle spent a lot of time with their chiefs, and they enjoyed the ability to self governor. Outside of that, Vivi only knew what she got from her reports of former Spain Nutks fleeing their homes once Rhamos started to move in, and what Ketevan told her about her tribe over tea.

"My Queen. You would be totally thirsty without me. I mean, to whom would you ask to get your tea? Maybe one of the other maids? No. Just poor Ketevan gets the joy of bring tea to the High Queen." She smiled as she squeezed about a few drops of lemon into the tea and dipped a sugar cube in, moved it around and then took it out. "Your Tea ma'am"

Vivi took the cup and looked at Ketevan, taking a small sip. "I guess you are right. No one else knows how I like my tea." Vivi took another sip. "Ketevan, sit. I wish to run some things about the party past you." She waved her hand over to the empty chair across from her.

"Of Course my Queen." Ketevan said, as she sat and took the second cup of tea, already prepared to her likening. Vivi always did this. She would ask her to make tea, and then ask her about some things on her mind.

"So" Vivi Started, as she laid out the event plans for the night, food, music, and lodging. Ketevan chimed in when the talk turned to food, and how she knew a very good chief that could cater event. This went on for the new hour or so, as Vivi looked to get the final touches. At one point a guard came in and took the boxes of invites to be sent off. With that, it was time to wait for the event, and maybe do some more planning.

((OOC: Take this time to post and build the world around your guests, fly into the JVP, do some sight seeing. I'll a post up in a few days that starts the party. ))

The sweet smell of cherry hung in the air as the wispy forms of smoke lazily danced from an idle cigar. Florence inhaled the scent deeply as it mixed with the fragrance of the light tropical breeze as it drifted through his open windows. It was times like this that reminded him why he had originally moved his family to this godforsaken colony; the peace that separated it from the other colonial holdings.

For a long time the small size and undeveloped nature of the colony had meant that it was relatively untouched by the chaos that surrounded the rest of Aels. Back then Florence's job had essentially been a cake walk and he had intended to possibly retire here someday.

But something this good could surely never last and indeed it did not. The rapid expansion of the JVP into it's current hegemony had seen his tiny colony placed on the frontlines of an increasingly hostile coldwar. The JVPs sudden invasion of their southern neighbors and the anarchy that followed had forced him to directly intervene in the conflict, deploying his small Colonial Defense Force as peacekeepers between all parties till the JVP agreed to reign their armed forces in.

It had been a tense white knuckled political fiasco for him but at least the act had produced results and he hoped it would be the last of his troubles. Fate however, saw things differently for not soon after the giant Spanish Empire collapsed in on itself over night throwing the balance of the south into chaos again. Rhamos and its conniving aristocracy leaped upon the conflicts in an attempt to fill the power vacuum, putting them at odds with the JVP who were attempting to to the same. The entire affair had seen the two countries nearly come to blows, and Edrina isolated from any form of support was completely surrounded by the JVP. A fact that was not lost upon Florence in the slightest as he worked tirelessly to secure NADP troops to preserve his perceived neutrality.

Calmer minds had prevailed finally though and with the JVP and its Union backing down, Florence felt he finally had a moment to breath and relax again. And yet here in front of him leaning against his doorframe was surely the messenger of what would undoubtedly be more stress for him. Florence had become accustomed to all manners of individuals visiting him from every sort of acronym possible and the man in front of him was surely one of them.

The man who introduced himself as Dorian, if that was even his name, was holding a letter out to him addressed from the JVP.

"Good god man do you have no concept of time!" Florence grumbled standing up to take the letter from him. "It is 9 at night what could you possibly need that's so damn important."

Dorian cocked a surprised eyebrow at the man and half shrugged, half didn't care enough to give the Viceroy a proper response. "The JVP has extended an invitation to the King for a gala."

"Let me guess he's not going" Florence interrupted.

Dorian continued unfazed "He is not."

"And I will..."

Dorian made a small finger gun motion with his hand. "Bingo"

Florence reached forward and snatched the envelope from the man's hand without even pretending to care how rude the gesture might have seemed. Grumbling under his breath he carefully tore it open to read its contents with a growing look of exasperation.

"And why exactly do I have to go?" The annoyance in his voice was almost palpable.

"Because you have a vested interest in the safety of this colony and it makes sense to send you." The man deftly pulled put out a crushed pack of cigarettes and flipped one out into his hand. "Representatives from the Makrion nations will be there. So by extension we -will- be there, political channels are still important even if-"

Florence cut him off with again with a dismissive wave as he eyed the rancid smelling cigarette as it overpowered his cigars own sweet odor. His patience for these games everyone played around him had run out long ago.

"I am well aware, thank you Mr. Dorian, but what do I have to gain by going to this alone." He stood there in silence rereading the letter before an idea struck him and he eyed Dorian with accusations in his eyes and on his face.

"What do you have to gain from this." He said slowly.

"You wont be going alone, we have already prepared your entourage for the event." He inhaled deeply from his vice before spewing its toxin into the room. "I'm just here to make sure we put on a good face for the neighbors."

Florence flopped back into his plush leather chair defeated. He didn't believe a word the viper said but it wasn't as if he could just refuse either. Power dynamics were always in flux and this could possibly put him ahead of the curve."God dammit, at least I can try and distance myself in their eyes from the rest of you."

Dorian gave him a crooked smile as he ashed his cigarette onto the office floor. "That's the spirit!"

Yellow Sea. JVP Naval group 14, Koi Fish

Admiral Son looked out the large windows of his bridge, as jets launched off the deck and touched down. The Honey Gram Hope, a Henderson class Carrier, had been his flagship ever since the new class of light carrier rolled off the line. He did have the option to pick a much larger carrier, hell he had the whole of them to pick from. But when he put together this Naval group, with himself at the head, he had to have a Henderson.

"Captain Phenax." Son began. "I got an invite to the High Queens mask party or something." He pulled a letter from his pocket.

"As you do sir." Phenax came back.

Admiral son narrowed his eyes. "Captain do you want to be my sparring partner today?" Son looked to the man. "It's grapple and toss day." He watched as Phenax stepped out of his reach.

"Not today sir. I think one of the seaman has been put on the punishme... I mean, extra duty, and will be your vic... Ummm, partner today."

Admiral Son looked from the captain, and back out the window. "Perfect. My back is feeling wonderful today, I can throw someone for hours. Anyways, the party. I take it this will most likely lead to my appointment to a naval adviser spot, maybe even an appoint to the Order." He laughed a little, thinking about how at his age, he would have to go retrain with mean many years younger then him. "No I would turn down any true appointment to the Order. But i'll be leaving tonight for the homelands. I'll leave command of the ship and command of the Group to you. Vice Admiral Snow is on leave, and our fleet is being rotated back to port anyways." Son pulled out a folder and handed it to the Captain. "These are the orders saying as much. Just bring the boys home, and i'll meet you before we rotate back out."

"Will you visit your mother when you return sir?" Phenax asked as he looked over the orders. Within them was a promotion to Rear Admiral. "Sir... Thank you Sir. I'll have some flowers sent a head of you to your mother."

"Thank you." Admiral Son said. "Also. Can you get my formal outfit ready. The one with the cape." Son Smiled. "Yeah. The cape should be nice and flashy for those royals."

Jeonnam Joseon, Manner of House Ashynwar

"KYONG, KYONG." Min-Jun yelled, as he rushed down the hall towards his brothers room. "KYONG." He said, throwing open thew door. "Kyong, the invites are in, and Father is sending us." Min-Jun said, as he watched his brother turn away from his writing desk and throw what seemed to be a bottle of water at him.

"Min-Jun. I have told you not to rush in when I'm working on my novel." Kyong said, as he got up from his chair, to help up his brother, who had not moved out of the path of the water bottle and was now on the floor. "Sorry about that." He said, helping his brother into a chair. "Now. what has father sent us to do?"

Min-Jun took a few seconds to collect himself, before he began again. "Father is sending us to the party at the palace."

"Yeah. we went to that last one. Why not go to this one?" Kyong began to think that hit throw that bottle a little to hard, and his bro now had a brain issue.

"You fool. Father is only sending us, and you know why?" Min-Jun began, smile on his face.

"Yep. I did hit you pretty hard. Let me call the maid."

"No you fool." Min-Jun said, as he brushed his brother off of him. "Listen. Gemma has just had her coming out, and father wants us, mainly me, to become a suitor." Min-Jun beamed with pride and joy. Kyong just looked at his brother with petty.

"Didn't Father have you trying to court the Queen?"

"Yes."

"And how did that go?" Kyong asked, tilling his head to the side and raising an eye brow.

"She said she eats young men like me for breakfast" Min-Ju began. "and that I would be lucky to even see the door that leads to the wing where her bed chamber is." The smile on his face slowing fading away.

"And what makes you think you have a chance at her sister?" Now starting to feel bad for his brother.

"You see." He began, quickly coming out of his spiral of past failures. "You see dear brother. I have already received a letter from our dear Princess, that I would receive the first dance at the party. Hmm."

"Have you now" Kyong stated, seeing how pleased his brother was. He did not have the heart to say that he had turned down an offer for the first dance not to long ago. "Better not step on her toes." He joked.

"As if I would. I've been practicing for months now." Min-Jun got out of the chair, pulled his brother to him, and lead him in a dance. "As the next head of the family, it is my mission to woe to the Princess, marry her and gain favor for the Ashynwar Family." He dipped his brother.

Kyong laughed. "Or make a fool of yourself." His eyes grow wide as his brother dipped him. "Oh, you have improved. Maybe a lady from one of the other houses will take you up on that offer for a dance and marriage. Inna just called me and said she would be there. You know she likes..." Before he could finish that statement he head hit ground as his brother let him go.

"That's for throwing a bottle at me." He said, picking his brother up. "And Inna is like what, 12 or something?"

"Just turned 16." Kyong barked back, as he rubbed the back of his head. "I hope you don't drop Gemma like that. I would hate to see your neck under her boot."

"Hahaha. Anyways, why would I even want to marry Inna? House Valdydth is a Vedoric house..."

"The main Vedoric house. Second only to House Fuchs, and holds the bloodline to take the throne." Kyong began.

"Still not House Fuchs..." Min-Jun started again. Before Kyong cut him off.

"Inna is the third in line for the Throne. It passes her father and goes to her. To the second Gemma takes the throne, she becomes the Heir. You would be a fool to not court her. Plus she already likes you."

Min-Jun looked at his brother. "Come on. She is young. Why would I even give her my time of day, just cause she is in line for the throne? Why not go for the main price? Marry the Heir and bring the line of the throne this way?"

"You're a fucking idiot. Do you know how many of men from other houses are looking to do the same thing? Plus, even if you do marry her, it's no grantee that your child will take the throne. The Heir is picked by the Queen, she can still keep Inna as her heir. Then what?" Kyong looked at his brother. Yeah, courting and marrying Gemma would be a a big win for their family, but house Fuchs has held the throne for years, since the founding of the Vedoric Kingdom, and only came to be on the JVP throne after a marriage to the Korean empire before the Japanese took over. No, the smart move for their house would be to unit with a Vedoric house hold and build ties there. Hell even a Luar house hold would work, as most of the Joseon house were doing the same thing.

"Brother." Min-Jun began, his temper now going unchecked after being called an idiot. "If you want a union with Inna and her house, then why not marry her yourself." He looked at his brother and widen his eyes. "Oh, that's right. Cause Inna is not a boy." Min-Jun was to full of himself to see the fist his brother throw, land with a solid THUD, sending him out of his chair and onto the ground.

"Get out." Kyong began, as he hovered over his brother, fists in a tight ball.

Min-Jun touched his face were he was hit, and looked in fear at the towering mass that was his elder brother. "Brother forgive. I jest. I did not mean to offend you." He began to crawl towards the door, knowing deep down that his brother would not strike him again, but the look of rage on his face had him thinking otherwise.

"GET OUT" Kyong roar as his brother turned on all fours and rushed out of the room. He slammed the door behind him, and plopped down into one of his chairs. He rubbed his head, letting the pain of his shame wash away. Being Gay was no issue in the JVP, Gays held all the rights as normal citizens. No, the shame was being gay, and the first born of his father. How can an Heir be gay? What offspring would they have? None, that's what. The words of his father cutting deep, as he appointed his younger brother to what should have been his birth right.

He heard a small knock on the door.

"Big brother Kyong." Min-Jun began. "Umm... What color Hanbok do you want? I'm getting Black and red." He knocked again. "Big Brother Kyong... Big Brother...."

"Blue and Cream." Kyong said. "And I'm sorry. Now leave me.

The JVP

All over the Empire Noble families looked over their invites and selected young single members of their households to attend. An event like this was meant for young people to flirt and dance. Yes, much older people would be there, and they would be conduction business of their own, treaties would be talked about, embassies set up, joint operations talked about. But for the young, this was their chance to mingle and maybe find a future spouse, or meet some of the many celebrities that would be in attendance.

Like most events, nobles would look to impress houses they did not get along with, or look to set up partnerships with guest nations. Hearing another region would be attending, the thought of setting up shop outside of the Aels region was now the talk of the town. Boxers looking to fight outside the region, sports teams looking to show the might of the Empire, even directors looking to have films shown out of region. Yes Markion was on the lips of many people looking to branch out.

Emerstari
Rensulier Palace in Rensulier
Throne Room | 10:44 AM

"Let it be known," His Majesty began, standing up from the throne so as to make himself the tallest in the room, "that on this date, in the witness of the Most Reverend Håkon Ingvalde Einarssen, His Royal Highness Lorens Ingvar Eirikr, His Grace Karl Johann Leijonhuvud, His Grace Valter Ungmar Ljosse, His Rightful Finn Villem Erikssen, and the Lord in Heaven, hallowed be His name, I hereby appoint His Royal Highness Frederik Johann Eirikr to act during my absence as the Regent of Emerstari." This statement, or rather edict of sorts, was then followed by a quick prayer uttered by the Most Reverend, as he had been styled by the King, Håkon Ingvalde Einarssen (the Bishop of Rensulier), which ended the procedure. By no means was His Majesty required to appoint a regent for international trips of any sort by any law, but in his sixties, about the age at which his father and grandfather had abdicated, he was considering abdication and wished to allow his son to test the waters of kingship before diving right in.

Salon | 12:58 PM

"Where is our third cousin, Lorens? You know the one I refer to." the King asked, sitting down in the salon of Rensulier Palace some time after the business in the throne room.
The King's brother looked up from a game of solitaire and replied, "Well, it is my understanding that Ekkesburg is up to some business in Kophavien. I know not the details myself, but I'm sure someone about here does. His son most definitely would, — albeit it, he is not here nor will be at any point in the near future."
"I'll ask him of his dealings in the JVP then; I just didn't know if he was herebound."

Kophavien
Blåstenborg Estate in Hogstenby
Living Room | 2:11 PM

"No news then?" Thomes asked of those around him in general yet while looking towards a certain man in particular, Georg Jakob Bladhavn.
"None on dear old Wolfe, no, Your Grace," Georg answered.
"And no reply still?"
"Not one from Solymós, no."
"Then we must do more, men. I, for one, as you all know, will be attending an event hosted by the Royal Family of the JVP in the next day or so with His Majesty. That is all good and well, but what is more and what concerns all of you, our cause, is that an Admiral Haida will be there as well. This admiral, as you might not know, is, in fact, an admiral with GU origin. He may not be a Solymós or a will naming me as heir, but he definitely has connections of some sort, and I'm sure if we can convince him to see our side, he will help us in some way. Yes?" All of his merry men, if you will, nodded or concurred in some way. "You, on the other hand, you fellows, will advance our interests in Markion while I am gone. I care not how, but our Fyrlandish friends do seem to be in a bit of trouble."

Kopmandhavn International Airport in Kopmandhavn
Outside of Airplane | 10:06 AM

The King waved to Thomes, walking towards him from a limousine. "Cousin!" he exclaimed. "How go your dynastic dealings? Well? Less then well? Last you talked with me of them was nearly a month ago." The two Hrudolfung Clansmen briefly hugged each other and walked in congruity to their plane.
"Well, I question whether Mr. Solymós has seen my correspondence and refuses to give such a hostile imperialist the time of day or whether he has not seen it at all. Perhaps a secretary has seen to it that it never sees the light of day. I have no idea. In good news, though, I have assembled quite the group in support of the cause in Kophavien, — influential men of several of the local clans, most of the members. We operate out of a summer house of one of the members; Kophavien, I must say, is quite a place. Oh, and more than that, a GU admiral will be in attendance these upcoming days, to the JVP."
"There is no doubt you will convince him, Thomes. No doubt whatsoever, I say."
"You mean to make fun of me or make me feel better, Erik?"

Sun Palace, Seoul Joseon, The JVP

The day of the party was a buzz with palace staff running around getting the last minute details down. One of those small details was making sure the flags of each nation in attendance was on displace in from of the palace. This was hard as some of the Markion nations seemed to have multiple flags. "There are two Green Union's showing up, and one of them seems to have a long list of flags." One of the Staff members said as he looked over a list of Green Union Flags. "History seems... Hmmm. Don't put both flags next to each other. place them across from each other, make sure they are the same size. lets not try to start an issue." He scanned the party invites again. "Here use this flag, it's from the invite." The Man said as he grabbed a flag from stand. He picked out the rest of the flags needed and set an order. Aels, Markion, Aels, Markion, and so on, each to be placed on the flag poles leading to the Royal hall.

Vivi spent most of her day getting her dress in order. She went with a nice white and black outfit, with accents of gold, some brown long gloves, and figured she would wear two small ceremonial daggers. She looked herself over a few times in a large mirror.

"I like it." She looked at her boots, they had a small heel, and were more the style of boots she would have worn with her knight dress uniform. She slammed her heel down. "Hmmm. Where did my boots with the spring knife go?" She looked around. "Most be in Aels." She needed them more there, what with how hands on some of the Older JVP nobles over there got. A woman can only take so many but rubs before she has to cut off a few fingers. "Where is my finger collection?" She joked to herself as she heard a small knock on her door.

"Enter" She said as she looked herself over again.

"Queen Sister." Came the soft voice of Gemma, as she entered the Room.

"Gemma!" Vivi said, spinning around and rushing the length of the room, pulling her sister into a large hug, planting a kiss on her lips. "How was the trip from Aels?"

Gemma smiled, as she pulled her sisters right hand to her lips and kissed. "It was a joy my Queen."

Vivi pulled her hand from her sister. "Now you stop that. It's just us, no need for that formal shit." Vivi said as she looked at the door, finally seeing a girl in her mid teens. Red hair in a long pony tail that she wore over her left shoulder. "Inna." Vivi said, eyes growing wide, as she moved from her sister, and pulled the girl to her, placing a kiss on her lips as well. "How is the fatherland?"

Inna blushed, as she also kissed Vivi right hand, only to have to repeat the same 'No Formal' speech she had just given Gemma. "Queen sister Vedoric is doing fine. Our people look forward to your visit in a few months." She looked over to Gemma. "As will as your visit, Princess Sister."

Though the JVP is an Absolute Monarchy, Vivi shares some of her power with the two people that sit on the Dawn Throne in Vedoric and the Moon Throne in Luar Aels. Inna, third in line for the Throne of the Empire was the current Princess of Vedoric, and Gemma the Heir the Empire was the Princess Heir on the Aels Throne. The two thrones do not dictate your order to the Throne, House Valdydth had been appointed to the Dawn throne, when the Empire was born and the set of power was moved to the Phoenix throne in Joseon. The Moon throne was set aside for whomever the High king or Queen saw fit to sit on it. Vivi for a short period of time sat on the Moon throne.

"Come sisters." Vivi said, leading the two girls to a set of seats. "We need to catch up before we are bombarded by people at the party." She laughed. "I already got word that some very handsome men will be there." She said looking at Inna. "Sadly Mr. Ellis will not be showing up tonight." She gave Gemma a look of hurt, as her sister grew red in face and throw one of the pillows in her chair at her.

"I hate you sometimes, dear sister." Gemma said as she turned her face way.

The three laughed and talked about what they were doing in their lives, the hardship of ruling over others, and future plans for the Empire as a whole. The talks went on so long that Inna and Gemma had their dress and make up sent to Vivi room so they could change and get ready together.

Time of The Ball

Vivi took her place at the center of the ball room. The guest would all enter and then she would greet the room before the music began to play. She put her mask on and looked to her sisters.

Inna out looked the most out of place, as her blue outfit looked to be more for a ships captain, then for someone in line for the throne. But it worked for her as she linked arms with her sister. "I hope Min-Jun shows up."

Vivi rolled her eyes as she remembered how he tried to hit on her last time. "That boy is just... Never mind, just keep him and his hands away from me, or he'll go home with a few less fingers." She said, gripping one of her daggers. "Maybe even missing one hand." She laughed. "But I do wish to speak with his brother Kyong. His last book left me wanting more. To think, such a writer and at his age." She bit her bottom lip and narrowed her eyes. "I should marry that boy."

Gemma laughed, and scanned the room as the guests began to slowly file into the room. "All I know is I want a dance with Admiral Son. I know he will have on some crazy outfit." Her eyes grow wide as the light caught them, making it almost seem to sparkle with a green tint. "Maybe he'll wear that really big fur cape like last time. You know, the one that he always flapped around when he turned." She laugh remember how the Admiral would pull the cape behind him as he walked around, like he was in a drama or something."

They all shared a laughed, as Vivi took the mic from a staff member that approached her. She tapped on it a few times before speaking.

"I would like to welcome everyone to the 72nd Royal Masquerade Gala. A tradition held in the Empire since before her founding. Drinks will served and light food. Please enjoy yourselves. I'll be picking my dance partner for the first dance once the room fills in." She handed the mic back, and looked to her two sisters. "Let us mingle ladies."

Harry Haida, Diplomatic District of Kamooko, Placeoderms, Markion, Several Weeks Prior:

"Yes, Neije. Yes, you know I'll do it. How long? Of course. Okay, see you then."

The phone clicked as the former admiral hung up, reclining tiredly in his secondhand chair. Here he was again, receiving instructions to attend yet another supposedly critical event. He just sighed. Temporary dismissal from his military position was, in theory, supposed to help him relax. Yet since then he had almost been busier than ever before, filling the Crown's final wishes as best he could. At least this job was out of region, which was a nice change. A couple days on the trans-region airlines would be a couple days with no oversight.

Still, it was hard not to feel dejected. Haida stood slowly, taking a couple steps to cross the small living room. While he did not complain about his accommodations as many of the other exiles did, even he had to admit that his home here was not much to look at. Having so many personal possessions at the bottom of a lake would tend to leave one's walls and tables without much of the usual ornamentation. For moments like this, the veteran sailor had many reasons to prefer his chair by the small window.

Any view of Kamooko was gorgeous. Several scattered, low apartments and wide snow-sprinkled boulevards lay against a backdrop of gorgeous mountains and frosted lakes. At just a dozen stories up, Haida could see Kamooko's entire sparse skyline. Indeed, to a casual observer the capital of one of Markion's greatest industrial powers had every appearance of a much smaller city. It took a keen eye to realize that most of the urban metropolis was actually underground, twisting and turning away into the crust, safe from the chaos of the surface world.

Two years ago, Haida would privately have referred to this as paranoia. Now, with everything that had happened, he was not so sure.

The exile took a deep breath as he sat, soaking in the view. What he wouldn't give to just sit here all day, sun on his face, maybe have some old friends over, and let someone else handle the royal duties for once.

But instead Haida found himself picking up a pen and, like so many times before, jotting down everything there was to do.

"Call Bira and book onto the next interregional flight to Aels. Get to the foreign ministry and find out if a gift is necessary; perhaps another Slektensvard?* Learn what dress is appropriate, and write ahead to Pike so that he may have a good suit lined up."

Haida paused, musing to himself on that last point while ink began to bubble.

"Scratch that. Have a perfect suit lined up."

Harry Haida, Sun Palace, Seoul Joseon, JVP:

Interregional travel was always enjoyable, and Haida had been very pleased to spend some days in the air between Seve city and Aels. Having his own cabin, onboard restaurants, and even a workout room and squash court always made him feel more like he was on a cruise ship than rocketing through the sky on nuclear engines. In the past, the busy military man had even found himself on some high class airliners with their own pools, tanning decks, casinos . . . now that had been quite the experience.

Of course, it was always the more conventional aircraft that had to make the first and last leg of the journey, unless one had the luxury of living near an interregional travel hub like Markion's Seve City or Potois in Arda en' Estel. And the Loyalist navy man still very much disliked that experience of being crammed inside a little metal pipe, no matter what class he was being payed to travel in.

Still, that was all behind him now. Haida strode down the hall, composing himself as best he could while trying his best to look effortless. The man's worst fear, at the moment, was that he would be asked to dance. Last time had been quite the scare.

Just stay stiff, he told himself, and do your job.

Then he saw the flags. On one side, the scarlet blaze of the Peoples' Kingdom. On the other, the mocking blue of Arcadian Urlistan. Haida's stride broke, just for a moment, and he clutched the sword tightly. Those republican Kapis** should not have the honour of showing their faces at an event like this.

The JVP wrote:"I would like to welcome everyone to the 72nd Royal Masquerade Gala. A tradition held in the Empire since before her founding. Drinks will served and light food. Please enjoy yourselves. I'll be picking my dance partner for the first dance once the room fills in."

But he was startled out of his moment of loathing by the sound of a woman's voice coming over the speakers. At that moment Haida came upon the ballroom, looking down to see the young queen of the JVP herself addressing her guests. Other guests moved past in throngs, many it seemed trying to outdo the others with their garish costumes. One fellow in particular caught Haida's eye. Wearing an absolutely atrocious tiger mask and cape, the old admiral was not sure who had been blind enough to let him in.

Haida himself had dressed rather adventurously. Apart from what could only be described as a very fine single breasted suit with obligatory green tie. Not a man to risk clashing colours, his mask was an identical green and black to the rest. Truth be told, Haida had many reservations about the entire idea of a masquerade party at all. Masks, as far as he was concerned, were for keeping the cold air out. They were not something to wear for the fun of it. But he would also be lying if he didn't say he enjoyed the aesthetic.

The man took a moment to take in these sights, absentmindedly circling his foot while he considered what to do next. His job, of course, was to approach the queen and do his duty. But he was still not confident yet. Perhaps it would be best to wait until after the first dance.

Haida gave the room another quick scan, trying to tell if there were any immediately unsavoury characters yet on the floor. Then he began working his way around the side of the room, finally stopping to pluck a drink from one waiter.

Admiral Son

Admiral Noah Son made his way down the green and orange carpet laid out for the guest to walk down. He really hated these types of events, there was never anyone there around his level. Mainly just nobles hoping to get their shitty kids assigned to his staff detail. "Like hell I would want your bratty as kid on my staff." He spat out after being approached by one such noble. "Let them claim the ranks like a real man." He said to himself as he walked past another group of nobles, each in turn saying how their son and/or daughter was starting their military service and was looking to join the Navy.

"Oh is that right? Well my staff detail is pretty full. But you know what. I hear General Uru has room on his detail... yes he is a marine. Very decorated if you ask me. You know what, I'll send him their names." He would say as he walked away, knowing that any noble kids that he sent Uru's way, would have the hardest time. Not much like that one cadet. What was his name. "Sazer." He whispered, as he waved himself past another group of nobles.

"Shame. He was a bright kid, could have went far. But his mouth tried to cash a check that body was not ready for." He remembered hearing about how one of his friends, Colonel Samira Army guy, Artillery. Told him about the hazing his unit did, that broke the kid. "Shit himself twice. Shame."

The entrance to the ball room, had a set of stairs that came to a landing that over looked the ball room. It was a two foot drop to the ball room floor, and Son knew this is where he would make his entrance. He found the DJ, and slipped him a tape, wrapped in a stack of bills. "Play this for me kid. Need to put these nobles on watch." The DJ looked at the stack of cash, and smiled as Admiral Son made his way back to the landing.

He hyped himself up as the room grow dark and a spot light shined on the landing. The

Looked around the room at the surprised faces of the guests and staff.

"ADMIRAL SON." Came a yell from the middle of the room, as a young girl pushed her way towards the Admiral. He watched her as she grew closure, the outline of her face finally clicking in his mind. He dropped to one knee and lowered his head.

"My Princess." He began, as he felt a pair of soft hands being placed on the side of his head.

"Tiger Mask. I love it." She said, as she raised the Admiral up. "I waited to see what you would do this year." She said, looking up to the taller naval man with a large beaming smile on her face.

"Well, yes." He began. "I was hoping to not be invited back. not after last year." He remembered how last year he wore the biggest fur cap he could fine, and waved it around when ever he moved.

"Why would we not invite you." She took the Admiral by the arm and pulled him towards her sister. "I love your outfits. so flashy." She yelled out to a wait staff to grab the over cape that the Admiral throw. "I still have your cape from last year, and the one before. I'll add this one to my collection."

"Why... Yes, my Princess." He had forgot that Gemma would always make sure he was on any party list she was going to. "Maybe next year, i'll drive my ship in." He said, as he grew closer to the High Queen. Taking a knee he greeted her. "My Queen. It's an honor to be in your presence."

Vivi motioned for him to raise. "You will come to regret those words Admiral." She gave the older man a hug. " I have need of you on my advisory board. I'll offer you a seat on the Joint Chiefs. It comes with a promotion to the Order. Will you accept" She said, as she pulled away for the man and looked him in the eyes.

Son looked back at her. Those deep blue eyes. He remember looking at them when he was a much younger captain, and she was just a Knight. "My Queen it's a big honor. But I must ask for time to think it over."

"Of Course. I'll give you the weekend, and i'll await your answer on Monday." She said.

"Perfect." He began.

"Also, nice entrance. You think you freaked out anyone else this year." She laughed. "I love having you around. It puts some of this sticks on edge."

"Yes. On edge. What I was going for." He began, as he scanned the room for someone with a drink tray. Seems he would be invited again next year.

"I understand it so, that you have never been to one of these Masquerade Galas, cousin?" Thomes asked of Erik, the two coming into the room in which the event was being held.
"I don't care much for the masks. The invitation stated we merely had to wear them for the first part of the night, though, so I hope that is the case."
"I don't believe I have ever been to one either, but let's not talk to ourselves for the whole night. That would make these masks absolutely worthless if no one else saw them."

The pair of statesmen, both adorned in some sort of military-esque attire with swords at their belts (for both had served for some time in the military), headed deeper into the room, being drawn towards the center of the action, yet they remained close to each other, being unfamiliar with most everyone here. Indeed, the only person on the guest list who they had met before was the Freiherr Munche. "That is the Queen, yes? over there?" Thomes asked pointing in her direction; the two conversed for this conversation in Emerstarian to maintain their privacy to some extent.
"Yes, flanked by her sisters as I know it. All unmarried, but I take it there is a much more cognatic-friendly system here, if you will." The King looked around for a moment, seeing who else had arrived. "I shall mingle with the hosts and you with your admiral then? That is the plan for this first part of the night?"
"I have no objections."
"Fare thee well with Haida; I'll see you here again shortly."

Thusly, as was planned, Erik went one way, in search of a new friend or two, and Thomes went another way, in search of Haida. "A beautiful palace, Queen; I have never had the honor of visiting the JVP," the King said, greeting the host.

Kyong and Min-Jun

The two brothers were in the ball when talking with friends when the lights went dark and a spot light was pointed at the entrance to the room. Kyong watched as a man rushed in, jumped on the ledge, pointed up, throw off his cape and jumped down. "The hell" he said low as the words escaped his mouth. He then turned his head as we watched Gemma rush the man, yelling Admiral Son. "So the good Admiral is still at it again. Always the life of the party." He said as he looked to his younger brother.

The Black and Red Hanbok looked nice on
ImageImage
he was surprised at how well he pulled it off. He looked down at his Hanbok, thinking to himself of he,

, made a good call on Cream and Blue.

"Kyong. You just have to meet my daughter. She is a big fan of your writing." Began a busty female noble, her dress a little to tight for his liking.

"Thank you, but I..." He began as he felt her draw closer to him.

"You know my husband will be in Omni for a few weeks. You can maybe come read to me." She said as she squeezed his right butt cheek. "In my chambers of course." She moved even closer and whispered the last words into his ear. "That way we can be alone." She licked his earlobe.

Kyong jumped a little. "Ummm." He said, as he pulled away. "Sorry. I'm not big on public reading. But I can send you a signed copy of my news novel. Comes out next week... Is that someone calling my name?" Kyong flashed his best smile, gave a small bow and turned away. This was the fifth time some noble woman had asked for a 'Private' read. He was beginning to wish he had asked for padding in the rear of his pants. His poor cheeks would not survive the night.

Min-Jun on the other hand was having a hard time watching his gay brother get hit on, and yet none of these noble women was asking HIM to meet their daughters. It did not matter. He spotted Gemma as she rushed to the Admiral. What was he doing. Wrestling? He was a weird one. But that did not matter to Min-Jun, he spotted where Gemma had pulled the Admiral to, and it was right to the High Queen.

"Damn it." He said as he unconsciously counted his fingers. He would have to wait for her to leave the Queens side, before he could approach her.

"Min-Jun" Came a voice, followed by a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see Inna standing next to him.

"Umm. Hey Inna." He began, as he looked back to where he last seen Gemma, now lost in a sea of people.

Inna held her hands behind her back, looking down as she grind nothing into the ground with the right toe. "Ummm. Min-Jun" She began. "Ummm. I was hoping to maybe have my first dance of the night with you." Her face grew hot as she looked at hi,. "That's if you don't already have a plan for a dance if you do then I can wait for the second or third or fourth or fifth or sixth or even the last dance. She blasted off, her face growing even hotter.

Min-Jun looked at her. She was a cute girl, and she came from a very prestige's family. Hell she sat on the Dawn Throne. "Ummm." He began, as his brothers words played in his head. "Sure. I was hoping to get a dance with Gemma, but seems the Admiral has beat me to it." He looked back at the sea of people. His dreams of getting to Gemma now would have to wait.

Inna bounced with joy. "Really, really." She began, quickly catching herself. "Umm. Yes. that would be nice." She said, taking a cup from one of the trays and taking a drink, quickly spitting it back into the cup. "wine. yuck." She said as she waved down a staff member and handed her the cup.

"Umm yes. The ones in Green have the tea and punch. Orange is wine and cocktails." He narrowed his eyes at her, tilting his head. "Ummm. Should we go find my brother? He wanted to see you."

"Inna's face grew red again. "Ummm. Yes." She began. "I did want to ask him about his next book anyways. Hmm, where is he?" She asked as she scanned the room.

"I don't know. He is like six five, can't be hard to fine." He said as he spotted his brothers gat. "ah, there he is, with..." He watched as another older female noble rubbed his brothers chest and whispered something into his ear. "Seems he needs Saving."

Vivi turned her attention away from Admiral Son, who was now posing for pictures with Gemma and handful of other guess. "Why thank you." She looked over the mans masked face. "I don't believe we have had the pleasure of meeting before." She held her hand out. "May you be one of my guests from the Markion Region?" She was very embarrassed. She had taken the time look over images of key rulers in the region, and was drawing a blank. The Man to hold a slight resemblance to the leadership of Emerstarian, but could not really know. She figured she would wait for the man himself to introduce himself, hoping that she would finally get a chance to meet someone from this region of Markion.

Vivi looked at the man. "I thought it was you." She remembered reading the profile of Erik, and honorable man from what she could gather. "Erik is it. Will let me greet you first King Erik XII Georg. My full tile would be Her High Queen Athena the V. But I go by Vivi as my aunt, the Queen Mother. still uses the royal name of Athena." She ushered the King to the side, to get away from the crowd gathering around Admiral Son.

"Your Cousin Thomes. Lets hope he is safe out there, in the sea of women." She laughed. "They don't bite, but they do pinch." She grow a little more serious. "I have heard of the issue in the Green Union. I'm not as deeply informed as one such as yourself. But I believe I get the basics. I'm told I would have some guest tonight from both factions here tonight." Vivi looked around, and then placed a hand on the kings arm. "The Empire does not wish to seem like they are leaning to one side on this conflict. We are to new to this matter. Where do you stand on the matter? I would hear from all sides before committing." She turned as she heard Admiral Son yell for people to clear his path, watching as flipped his cape around him and walked off, maybe to get a drink.

"I'm sure he's safe amongst the women. He may be a royal Duke and want-to-be King and all, but he is certainly not as young as that lad over there. But yes, the GU succession, of course," the King said, all in quite good English. He had an accent most definitely, but his was much less noticeable than Thomes's, using the language more frequently. "Well, you know, old King Wolfe VI, he was overthrown and all, likely executed. If you don't get that, some groups within the GU believe he was not executed, and rather, his execution was faked by the new government. There was no apparent successor really, so my cousin, Thomes, stepped up and proved his relation to Wolfe, claiming the throne. I must say, I do support him, for he is my kin, but he is also really the only heir that is pressing a claim at the moment. I do also believe monarchy is the best and most divine form of governance for any nation, at least if they have a cultural and historical connection to monarchy as the Green Union does. I hope that informs you some, but I would still encourage you to hear other opinions as well, for mine is from a compatriot and cousin of the claimant." He took a sip from his drink, waiting to see what the Queen had to add.

Vivi listened to every word Erik spoke. Thinking over his words. So his Cousin claims blood right to the Green Union Throne, and has support from his cousin the King here, which she thought to very honorable. She eyed her Sister Gemma as she ran cover for her. She could tell other people wanted her time, but she was focused here, with King Eirk, she wanted to know more about this matter.

"Please tell me your opinion of the other faction. I mean, what drives them? Why would they kill the king?" She thought over the fact that GU king could still be alive. If that was true, would he still support them? She tapped her chin as she thought it over. Grabbing herself a drink as will.

"The other faction? Well, it is a mess to say the least. The GU is not the most geographically blessed and now it's torn to pieces in war, quite literally; part of it has broken away and so on and so forth. More to your question, though, I sympathize with them as the leader of a nation myself. They are doing what they can to maintain what stability they have, but other than that, I agree not with their goal nor with their methods. The Congress of the Green Union, as it is called, they are technically in control, but I think they're illegitimate as a believer of divine right myself, them having overthrown a rightful king and all. It is a tough situation definitely, so if my cousin were to take the throne, I would pray that God aids him in every way possible. Even among fellow monarchists, as I said some believe Wolfe is still alive, and that divides our cause. Thomes has some support with those living in part of the GU that was formerly an Emerstarian colony, but they are viewed by others as traitors to a still-alive Wolfe. Traitors almost just as bad as those who supposedly executed Wolfe. That is one reason Thomes reaches out to this Admiral and has reached out to some other fellows, to unite our cause."

Vivi thought this all over. The GU matter, no Thomes matter, reminded her alot of the history of her own nation. Her homeland, the very soul they stood on now, taken by the Japanese, Her Great Grandfather killed by the Japanese government and her Grandfather put on the throne as a puppet. She could sympathize with Thomes. All he wanted to do was unite the people and nation. She herself did believe in divine rule, she was a Monarch herself. But she also believed in the rights of the people. it was why the Empire had a parliament, and listened to the voice of the people.

No, this matter would need to be looked into more. Plus this talk of an Admiral sparked her intrest.

"This Admiral you speak of. I would very much like to speak with him. see where he stands on this matter." She looked around, trying to see if she could spot Admiral Son. "I have one of my decorated Admirals here tonight. You may have noticed him making his entrance." She covered her mouth as she laughed. "He hates these kinds of events. He does not think I know that. But how can I not invite him, when he brings so much joy to the room with his attempts to not be invited next time." She looked back to her guest.

"I would very much like for my Admiral and this Admiral to speak. Something my Father once told me, is that men of sea are the most trustworthy. For they will tell you up front if they want your gold or to save you." She laughed again.

"Now Is there anything you wish to know about me or my People? I would also like to know about yourself and you people."

He looked towards Admiral Son as the Queen did, listening to the Queen give the word of advice her father told her: "Then I suppose you can trust my word on the situation; prior to my ascension, I was in the navy myself. I never reached the rank of admiral by own right, only Captain." He took a brief pause before continuing to respond to what else she had said, "On your country, your father? I mean not to bring bad memories if they are so, but did he abdicate for you or did he pass? My father, Erik XI Deitrik abdicated for me in 1994, and I took the throne fairly young in my twenties. My grandfather had abdicated for him too, in 1972. My grandfather in 2019 and my father in 2025 have since passed, but I consider abdicating for my son in the next several years, for he is already in his forties. I suppose the abdication tradition had started with my grandfather who had ruled since he was sixteen until he was seventy-two; he was tired of the throne perhaps. Enough about me, though, but that is simply why I am curious about the state under which you took the throne. I am not too educated on matters of your people and country, it being so distant from my own."

Thomes had been wandering about the dance floor for some time with no success in his quest to find Admiral Haida; frankly, the old Duke was about to give up for the hour and find his cousin and liege. Then, however, he caught a glimpse of a man clearly in the colors of the Green Union in the corner of his eye and turned: it was, in fact, — at least from what he could tell, — the admiral he was looking for. Discreetly, he began to move towards his prey, if you can call him that, and within a minute or two, he was about to make his pounce. Thomes walked past Haida, saying, "Excuse me, sir," in his somewhat accented English. "Wait, you're... You're Haida, yes? Admiral Harry Haida?"

A Hotel near the Sun Palace, Seoul Joseon

“Oh, where are my shoes!?!”

Brooke Christensen was freaking out, now she did not normally freak out. But here she was on a special assignment to the JVP, and she was blowing it. She had misjudged how long it would take to prepare for the party and was very quickly becoming fashionably late.

“Where is Eva though, she should have been here already?”

Eva Walker the Ambassador to Hashirajima had been a late addition to the guest list. But this had come at great relief to Brooke, originally, she was being sent alone. Eva had many years more experience in diplomacy and statecraft than her, with her along this assignment should have been a breeze.

“Now just where the hell is she?” she mused to herself

There was a knock at the door.

“Oh, finally, I wonder what kept her?”

“Come in.”

Brooke did a final once over her uniform, checking that everything was perfect.

“Hello, sis.”

Brooke was still fussing with her uniform, “Wait what did she just say?”

She quickly looked up to see who was in the room with her. It turned out that it was indeed her younger sister. Nova Christensen was also in her dress uniform, however in the black and green of the army. In contrast to the black and blue of her navy uniform. Strangely though on her left arm, she was wearing a black and green armband. Along with a green and black ribbon they weren’t supposed to display in public.

“Sis you don’t know how glad I am to see you.” Brooke said as she hugged her sister, mussing her uniform slightly.

“I’m glad to see you too, but watch the uniform these damn things take forever to get correct.” Nova replied as she readjusted her green and white paratrooper cord back to its position over her right shoulder.

“But why are you here though, I thought Eva was supposed to be accompanying me to this event.” Brooke inquired as she pulled back from the embrace.

“Apparently Eva was needed back at her post urgently, she departed as soon as she arrived here. In fact, they sent me out on a flight only a few hours after you departed.” Nova responded

“I can tell you the rest on the way but we are now officially fashionably late, so we need to leave now.” she continued.

“But first I have a few things for you.”

She quickly produced a mask, an armband, and the same ribbon as she was wearing.

“I figured you didn’t bring yours since we were ordered not to wear these.”

“I thought we still were?” Brooke asked as Nova affixed the ribbon to her jacket.

“Not anymore” Nova replied as she moved onto affixing the black and green armband.

“Perfect.” she said as she finished

“Now we really must hurry!” Nova said dragging her sister along with her.

The Sun Palace, Seoul, Joseon

They were winded by the time they made it to the palace but were still only fashionably late.

“So what exactly are we supposed to do?” Brooke asked before they joined the party.

“Follow my lead, and well mingle.” Nova said smiling as she affixed her black and green mask. And then entered the party, leaving Brooke outside.

“Well this is going to be interesting” she told herself, as she affixed her black and blue mask and followed Nova inside.

Sun Palace, Seoul Joseon, The JVP

The lights, the pageantry, the dresses, colors, and atmosphere. It was all just so exciting for Caroline and she never grew tired of it all no matter how many times she attended an event. She always found it so easy to be swept up in it all and just lose her self in the moment forgetting about all her troubles that awaited her back home.

Behind her gold mask she was positively beaming with joy as Florence escorted her into the Gala. Her expression seemed to have a noticeable affect on the Florence as well due to his higher than normal, as of late, spirits he appeared to be in as he escorted his truly gorgeous date inside. Their entrance was well mannered and rehearsed, controlled and yet dignified as they entered. A sign of the noble upbringing and tutelage each had growing up in under the Rhamosian Aristocracy, truly a sight to behold. They effortlessly walked amongst the crowd and began to mingle looking for familiar faces to chat with.

Behind them and still outside however, their young wards lagged outside neither seeming intent on entering anytime soon.

Violette peered into the bright cacophony of the flashy dresses and loud music and could not help but feel intimidated by the sheer magnitude of it all. Left to be escorted in by her date whom she barely knew, the task before her seemed all the more daunting the longer she lingered near the entrance. It did not help matters that no matter how much her mother tried Violette never seemed to feel like she belonged at these events, an outsider even amongst her own countrymen. She sheepishly glanced to her right at the bored teen who was supposed to be her guide in but instead was buried in his phone typing rapidly typing away.

His apparent disinterest did not help to settle the growing feeling of butterfly's in her stomach and she couldn't help but wonder if it was to late to go back to the hotel alone.

No that would never work, she would need to find a way through this situation and her mother would never allow her to simply run away. Taking in deep breath she mustered up the courage to break the ice between the two.

"I..er... these events always make me feel so nervous." The voice that had left her mouth was so soft that she was mentally kicking herself for sounding like such a coward, surely she had been drowned out by the music alone. To her surprise though Osywen glanced up from his phone down at her having actually heard her over the noise.

The boy had been so engrossed in his social media that he hadn't actually taken the time to consider his date and at her words suddenly felt ashamed of himself. He had forgotten that Violette was younger than him and surely not as experienced in such events as he was. He turned off his phone before sliding it into his pocket and covered his mouth with his fist as he awkwardly cleared his throat. "They are not as bad as they seem. Most of the people here are just drunks trying to show off how much money they have." It was idle small talk but he wasn't really sure what to say to her, he barely knew her before this after all.

He had stated it rather matter of factly but when he glanced back at Violette it was rather apparent that his words weren't comforting at all. In fact it only served to make him feel more awkward now. He searched his mind quickly for anything to say that might help. "Hey, you know in Osatia there is this rich noble who gets really drunk at these and plays the piano at every party he goes too. Everyone there always makes a big deal out of it and ask for encores!"

Violettes curiosity at the sudden random switch in the conversation to this story removed her mind from the setting in front of her, giving her full attention to Osywen. "Is he really good even though he drinking? That's amazing!"

"Not even close! My Uncle Nicholas says that the man is horrible and an affront to musicians everywhere. But he is so rich everyone asks him to keep going." Osywen leaned in close now and put his hand up to his mouth as if sharing a great secret. "And between you and me I hear he smells like a chimpanzee."

At this Violette could not help but stifle a small laugh at the incredibly cheesy story which recieved a warm smile from Osywen in return as he had achieved the desired effect. With Violette not so nervous now he offered his arm for her to grab on to. "How about we head inside and get something to drink."

She shyly wrapped her arm around his, now faced with the idea of going back inside again. "But what if someone trys to talk with me and I can't remeber their name or what if I get stopped by a reporter!" She practically blurted the words out and had to kick herself again for not keeping her composure.

Osywen puffed out his chest in mock confidence and his facial expressions took on that of serious professional about to perform his greatest masterpiece. "Just leave it to me! First you must but on a serious face like this."

She stifled another laugh and attempted to mimic the facial expression in spite of the fact that she couldn't help but smile now.

"It's important that we look confident and formal as we walk in." He continued. "If we see someone we know we give them a courteous smile and a polite wave but we don't stop until we reach our destination." Violette was squeezing his arm tighter in nervous anticipation. "And then, we just take a matching measured step like this." She matched his step as instructed. "And this." Once again they stepped forward focusing on matching her steps with his as he continued to walk forward, slowly at first and then into a more rhythmic and normal pace, and before she realized it they were already halfway across the room.

Vivi giggled. "No. Please don't think you are talking to much. Getting a chance to learn about ones past is a great way to deepen a friendship." She smiled at the king, as a feeling of something washed over her. Like she knew this man. "You remind me of my Uncle. Through him I got the Throne." The smile on her face faded a little. "My Father was King before my Uncle. He and my mother." She looked over to where Gemma was laughing with a group of younger nobles. "Our Father and Mother. Died when I was young. I was nine at the time, Gemma barely the age of three. Plane Crash." She dabbed at her eyes with handkerchief. "Forgive me, i'm still emotional about it. May Uncle took the throne right after, the hopes was to push the throne down his blood line. But... well lets just say fate was not on his side. I was named heir at the age of sixteen and I quickly joined the Order. After training, I took any dirty war that would keep me from the Throne." She laughed. "I did not want to rule you see. But fate once again had her way. My Uncle, already an old man, fall Ill, and I was recalled back." She let out a soft sigh. "He passed me the crown before he died. I was only nineteen years old, and here I was ruling an empire." She looked over to Gemma again. "I wish to pass the throne to my sister when she is old enough. It's a nice seat, but I grow tired of most of the day to day. Plus she would make a better Queen, she is soft and genital, a trait I do not have after my time in the order. Hell, maybe she will appoint me to the throne in Luar, and I can enjoy my days there." She looked back to the king, sharing in the trials of leadership."

"As far as my people go. Hmm." She thought on the matter. "It's very hard to explain really. My Empire spans across the world. Joseon and Vedoric make up the true core of the Empire. It's were our name is from." She took a breath. "The Full name of my Empire is the Joseon Vedoric Protectorate. Shorten to the JVP Empire when Luar was moved from Colony to Imperial holding. Outside of those three we have the Broland Protectorate and the Ivorystan Protectorate. Two lands on Aels that fall under Crown Rule and are overseen by a Governor. Along with The Tropicopia republic, lands that get Crown Protection, but Govern themselves." She looked around the room and seen two military Officers in a bright lilac uniform. "Like those two over there. They don't take Military service to heavily, but do provide the Empire with some of the best combat medics this side of Aels." She rubbed her chin, as she scanned her mind for more information. "There are the Omni Lands in Iola, and the Oman. All ruled over by a Knight of my order." She laughed to herself. "To be fair, we could talk the whole party about our respective kingdoms and still need a few more days. Some of my aids say that your nations has wonder sights and shopping." Her eyes grow wide as she looked at the king. "Is this true? I would love to come for a visit and try your local foods." One of Vivi's past times to visiting allied nations and enjoying the sights and foods. She had a closet full of cloths and shoes from her travels. From the Kings attire, she could tell that the craftsmanship of his nation would be much to her liking. Maybe she would take Gemma, she always loved these kinds of trips.

Kyong

Kyong was growing tired of the party. to be fair he was growing tired of all the butt squeezing and chest rubbing. "I swear every noble women in this damn empire is horny." He said as he once again broke away from an invite for a private reading.

He stepped outside, passing a young couple who looked like they were planning out their steps as they walked in. He thought they looked cute and pulled out his note pad, and writing down a quick idea. "Shy couple at party." He would later look to turn this into a short story for one of his collection novels. He also passed two women, one in a green and black mask, the other in a blue and black one. They both wore military uniforms and had on black and green armbands. He did not know what to make of the two, but he figured they were here to enjoy themselves.

He found a nice spot under one of the flags, and removed his mask. "I hate these things." He said as he pulled out his note pad again to jot down a few more notes about a couple of shy youths.

"You hate this also." Came a voice from behind Kyong, making him jump as he turned around. "Sorry about that, said a man in a nice three piece suit.

"No problem." Kyong said, as he looked the man over. He figured he was about six, six. Maybe even six seven. Slung over his arm was a Green and Orange strap with a large gold disc in the center. "Boxing belt?" He asked, as he pointed to the thing on the mans shoulder.

"This" The man said as he looked at the belt. "Ahh, yeah, yeah." The man walked over and held his hand out. "I'm Teimurazi, and I'm legal bound by contract to say this. I'm Teimurazi 'The Monster' Oxmaul. VBO and JBO Super Bantamweight Champion." He pointed to the belt on his shoulder, and then pointed across to a man holding another belt and talking with a woman. "And your name?" He said, holding his hand out.

Kyong look at the man in confusion. Contracts? He looked at the mans hand and took it. "I'm Kyong Ji-Hu, of House Ashynwar." Kyong did not know why he gave the man his mid name, he used it mainly as his pen name, and most everyone just called him Kyong. But he figured if the man, now with large growing eyes, was bound by contract to give a full... wait. Why is his mouth opening wide? "Umm."

"Kyong Ji-Hu. As in the author Kyong Ji-Hu. Writer of 'A Passion to Fight.' That Kyong Ji-Hu." The Boxers voice was filled with joy and excitement.

"Umm. Yeah... Wait, you read my book?" Asked a stunned and very confused Kyong.

"Read your book? Read your book. Man, I have read all your books. I'm like your biggest fan. A passion to Fight is my all time favorite. I read a few chapters before every fight." He pulled a book from his inner coat pocket and pushed it into Kyong's hands. "Can you please sign this for me?" The man asked as he pulled out a marker.

"Ummm." Kyong looked at the book in his hand. It was worn and looked like it had seen much use. A few of the page corners had been cat eared. Most likely to make his place. "Man. This book has seen better days. Maybe I should send you a new one." No sooner had he said that, then did the man pull him in for a hug.

"I would love that." He said, before breaking away and smoothing out his suit. "You know. A gift from your favorite writer would be nice." He pulled out his phone. "Can I also get a picture?"

"Umm.... Sure." Kyong said as he signed the book and handed it back. "How do you want to do this?"

"Here, I'll let you hold my belt." Teimurazi said, as he handed the belt over and placed a hand on Kyong's back." Look this way." He said as he took the picture. They both looked at the Camera and smiled. Teimurazi looking at the picture. "Looks good."

Kyong looked at the picture, and for the first time truly got a good look at the mans face. He was a very good looking man with a nice cut to his jaw line. "Looks good. Here, let me get your info so I can send you that book. That one looks like it could fall apart any day."

The boxer laughed as he looked at the image, hand still on the small of Kyong's back. "It's my fifth copy." He removed his hand. "Hey. Crazy idea. Why don't you come to my next fight. It's for the LBBO Belt, and it's a big unification fight for the JVP titles." He looked at the belt still in Kyong's hands. "I would love to have you as part of my entourage, seeing as your books have been a big part of my career." He said, as put his number and information into Kyong's phone.

"Ummm." Kyong tilled his head. "Never been to a boxing match." He thought to himself. "Maybe I can get an idea for a story. Sure. Lets do it."

"Really?"

"Sure. Anything for a fan. Plus this seems to be a big fight for you. Unifying something or another." Kyong fumbled for terms. He did not know the first thing about boxing, nor half the terms and titles Teimurazi was talking about. But a fan is a fan, and he was not one of those weird butt squeezing type.

"Perfect." Teimurazi said, as he placed a hand on Kyong's shoulder and looked him in the eyes. "You know, outside of boxing. I never get to talk to a man my height." He smiled. "This is nice."

"Likewise." Kyong started. "Not the boxing part, but the part about... You know what. forget it." he laughed, feeling a little bit better about himself.

"KYONG, KYONG." Came the Voice he knew all to well. Kyong broke the gaze and looked as his Brother rushed towards him. Stopping short to look up at the Boxer.

"No Way, your The Monster."

Teimurazi, a little annoyed to have his time with Kyong come to an end, looked to Min-Jun. "That I am." He said, as he pointed to the belt still in Kyong's hand. "Or I was. Seems your brother has defeated me and took my title." He playfully throw some punches at Kyong, none of them connecting, but each looking very powerful.

"If only." Kyong said as he handed the belt back. "Seems my brother follows your sport, more then me."

"Of Course I do." Min-Jun began, eyes still fixed on the Boxer. "Teimurazi the Monster, 43 wins, 39 TKO's, undefeated. Fighting Jack the Snap, Blackman for the LBBO title." Min-Jun raised his head. "Of Course you will win."

Teimurazi laughed. "You know a lot about me. For a noble that is impressive." He pulled out a small picture and signed it. "Here you go. You know. I'm a big fan of your brothers. I was just asking him if we wanted to join me at my fight."

Min-Jun eyes grew wide. "You, a fan of my brothers. I mean. His books are OK, but they are mainly for women and dudes of swing for..." He looked at his brother, who's face was twisting into a look of disgust. "Umm... So the fight. You invited my brother. But he knows nothing about boxing." He tried to laugh away the discomfort he was now feeling.

"If you would excuse me." Kyong, said as he pushed past his brother, heading towards the party.

"Brother Kyong. Damn it." Min-Jun said, turning back to the Boxer.

"Damn kid. Even for a noble, for are even more heartless." Teimurazi said, eyes fixed on Kyong. "Your no fan of mine kid." He said, as he followed after Kyong, leaving Min-Jun alone, scared of what would come next. His mouth writing another check, he was not ready to cash.

Harry Haida, Sun Palace, Seoul Joseon, Joseon:

As it would turn out, scanning the room for a familiar face was considerably more difficult when everyone's face was covered. Haida did not even notice the man until he was right in front of him. Momentarily taken aback, the Green Union Loyalist quickly composed himself.

"Your Grace," he said, bowing stiffly, "I did not know you attended these functions so far from Emerstari."

The suspicion in the GU representative's voice was obvious. His task here did not involve the Emerstarian, and the threat of reporters seeing him speaking to this man caused great concern. Whatever Thomes was here for, Haida would need to be careful.

"Sights and shopping, they tell you? I guess they are not wrong; there are, indeed, many castles, churches, and other such things that are of age. Geographically, many rivers, fjords, mountains, forests, and plains and so on and so forth. Shopping? I wouldn't go to Emerstari just to go to some large retail store or some such, — that is if I were a foreigner, — because frankly, there is nothing too special there. What is a bit special, though, is the persisting tradition of local craftsmanship. I'm sure you could find many a cordwainer or tailor or farmer's market. Even this sword on my waist, it was forged specifically for this event by one of the royal smiths. It is a slektensvard, a family sword in English, of the Hrudolfung Clan that I am High Chieftain of. I'd let you look at it unsheathed, but I doubt it would look good for either of us if I pulled a sword out on you." The King said nothing for a moment, looking around. The Queen did say that she wanted to continue the conversation, but he nonetheless felt as if he was taking up all of the host's time. "It is a very beautiful country if I might say so myself, and you are certainly invited as a guest anytime."

The Duke thought about the question for a moment, for it was imperative to craft his response most carefully: "I come not purely on my own will; I come with the King if that answers your question? Let's be honest with each other, though, Haida, — I don't want to tarry around. I know we are in no way acquainted with each other, and I know there is a likely chance that you don't like me because of my actions in regards to your homeland. We all know what there is to know, and you know I have found you for obvious reasons. Let us put aside politics for tonight, for I am sure we both can say with honesty, may the Green Union rise again. Would you like to share a drink, Admiral?"

Vivi had to hide a small laugh. "You think I would only visit to just shop at a large chain. I can get that anywhere. No I want to go where the local goes, do what the local does. I feel it's the only way to truly understand another people." She looked at the beautiful sword on his hip, and laughed again at his small joke. "You may be a little right. I could pull a sword all I like at this event. No one will bat an eye. Maybe you would. But my watchers would not think twice before rushing in if you pulled your sword." She looked around as she leaned close to the Elder King. "But if you have some time before you leave, I would like to show you the royal collection. We have our own blacksmiths, they our the best in my lands." She reached for one of the daggers on her hips, pulled it off and held it out to the king. "We have a tradition in the Empire. We offer a weapon crafted by hand to a new ally." She looked at the dagger. " I would like to give you this. You are the first of my new guests to talk with me, and I feel we have learned a lot about each other." She looked to Admiral Son, who, still being swarmed by guests looking to take a picture, had never taken his eyes from the Queen.

"I have many people that watch over me, Many that I call friends. I hope our to crowns can also share share such a friendship." She took a knee before the King, before raising again. "It's rear for another monarch to bow to another. But I wish to honor you as a friend. I wish you enjoy your time her in my realm, and that you and your cousin have blessed time mingling among my people." She giggled. "They are all not so bad... Most of the time."

Erik didn't fully bow to the Queen in return, but he did give a nod of sorts. "I am honored, Vivi, — if I may call you that, — to accept this dagger, and I would then certainly like to give you this sword in exchange," he said in reference to the slektensvard. She had not seen it, it being still sheathed, but it was more of a ceremonial sword than anything, ornately decorated and such. "Perhaps, if you wish it to be, it can be added to this collection you mentioned; I know that your gift will be added to the Kuingskekassen at Haraldsslott." The King, saying all that he had to say, then backed up a little, believing that Vivi was about through with what she had to say to him due to her look towards Admiral Son.
