As you say, Audio... Okay. Current plan: put up signup thread as soon as possible, with the objective of starting the pre-season on the 27th. Start your engines, people.

Are there any plans for another WGPC season yet? I'll admit that it's somewhat addictive. I might think about signing up for WGP2 too.

Brief update! Working on the submission thread's first post, which is currently sitting at more than three thousand words and only about three quarters done! Probably going to push the start of roleplay back by a week. Apologies for the delay!

Hey! Is there a place where you can create circuits? I want to host a race/test but I don't know how to design a circuit.

I'd love it if there were, because I hate sitting down to meticulously trim the edges of my poorly drawn-over scribble circuits, but as far as I'm aware you're at the mercy of your own paint.net/gimp/whateverthefuck skills. With a little practice (re: making a few circuits) you start getting the hang of it and trying new things.

I've just finished a little circuit, here's how I did it:

- doodled a circuit on my school desk
- put the image in paint.NET, added a layer, and traced over the circuit (meticulously) with the line tool
- removed the background image, used outline tool (note: I dunno if this comes in the standard paint.net or if it's an addon plugin, which in any case is free to download somewhere) to get some sexy outlines.
- the outline tool makes an extra transparent outline around the circuit, so I copied the circuit to a new image in a new layer and colored the background in whatever color I wanted the borders to be
- used magic wand tool to copy transparent border on circuit layer, went to background layer, copied colors, pasted in circuit layer
***like I said, I copied the outlined circuit layer to a new image with two layers, background (white) and layer 1 (pasted circuit). Since the pasted circuit has a transparent outline, whatever I paint on the background layer under that outline would appear as the outline for the circuit. However, since the paint is in the bottom layer, I have to select that transparent outline in the circuit layer, copy the contents of the outline present in the background layer, and paste the colors into the circuit layer.
- magic wand tool outside the circuit to remove white surroundings
- copied finished circuit to new image, added text in some really bootleg, really free, Helvetica Neue font on a new layer (remember to always keep background layer (white) blank and paste everything into a new layer, else the background will be white rather than transparent)
- added a new layer between circuit + text and background, added gradient to transparent by making secondary color blank

hope this helps/you didn't know all these things and I just explained to you things you already knew :)

my previous circuits never came out so nice though so i'm not actually an expert or anything it was just a happy little accident (circuit pic in the signup thread)

In addition to the immensely useful plan that Aboveland just laid out, I recommend you have a chat with Nekoni, our circuit specialist. They can give you some tips or, should you wish, even work on a circuit for you!

I really like google sketchup for mine. The circuit designs look great, but they do take a lot more time and effort than other apps, so it's only really a viable option if you have time on your hands.

Just remembering, if you're interested in design your own liveries, I compiled some 2014-2018 Formula One car templates from International Motorsport Graphics some editions AGO. Here's the link. They will work with any graphic editing software that uses layers, just place the design in a layer below the template image. You can TG me if you need some help.

Greetings, all! Just a reminder that WGP2 submissions for teams and circuits are due to close at the end of the week and the pre-season to begin soon after! In particular, we are currently lacking teams, so please do consider getting involved and signing one up.

Yay! Finally got that circuit submission in and feeling very happy about it. I spent far too much time staring at it in inkscape and going around in circles. It seems like there's a bunch of street circuits this time around. Abanhfleft might regret switching their stats to include more aggression!

Another thing--since I don't know as much about racing as I should, I just went with traditional qualification for the circuit. Feel free to change that (or any stats that seem like they need it), Nimbus. The idea was that since there's only a few hours with the circuit each time before part of it disappears underwater again, the qualifying format that takes the least amount of time had to be chosen. I assume it's faster to have all the cars get on the track at once and get it over with, rather than have them do it one at a time, even if they're only doing a single lap in the latter case. If that's not accurate, please let me know.

Oh, and also the cutoff song is maybe not the sort of genre people are used to. I wasn't really sure what mood I wanted so I just went with that. I'd also like to request that one by The Chemical Brothers, as is (I hope) tradition--'We've Got to Try.' If that has to replace the one I chose, that's fine.

Looking forward to the season starting!

Thanks so much! There's a lot of awesome creativity already in this wgp2 season and we haven't even started. Lots of great circuits and ideas--I'm particularly a fan of Sherpa's team concept right now. Funny, quirky, and really great.

I also remembered the other thing I wanted to mention but forgot. For circuit signups, I was thinking that maybe the "Margin for Error" stat should be renamed? My understanding is that a higher number means a more punishing track, but that means that a higher number actually indicates a lower margin of error. I think it's intuitive to have the scale that way (it would be *more* confusing if the label was accurate but a 5 meant a more forgiving circuit), so maybe there's a way to rename that stat in the future to clear it up even further? Or maybe I'm just causing trouble. The best solution I can think of is "recovery difficulty" to go along with "overtaking difficulty".

Hello, Valentine Z here! I would like to sign up for the current WGP2 season, which I was told that the signups are still open and might close in a few days.

So I will be doing my application soon after reading the rules thoroughly. As someone who is still new to NS Sports, but have got his feet wet with NSSCRA 8, is there anything in particular and important that I should know? Thanks a bunch! ^^

EDIT: I was told something about RPing as teams, or RPing together with another nation. Mind if I ask how does that work? Do we like pool a team or...?

EDIT 2: I have been reading through, and seems like I can do most of the prerequisites hopefully by this weekend. I will probably be more comfortable with RPing as drivers compared to teams. In NSSCRA 8, I used to have three drivers with a pit crew, but who exactly are the pit crew is vague and I didn't really detail those. So... Driver RP is something I can gladly do. ^^

Hi, Valentine; good to have you here! Assuming I've been thorough enough in the first post of the thread (which I hope I have; one or two people have said so, though there's always going to be something you could probably elaborate on), you can probably read through the parts relevant to you and jump in; if you need to, though, feel free to ask about anything at all in this thread! There will be plenty of people willing to offer advice.

With regard to how teams work, the best way that I can think to put it is that a team and its drivers are different 'roleplaying units' which can be controlled by different people but can also be controlled by the same person; they're submitted as separate profiles and then deals are negotiated (both IC and OoC) as to who gets into what team (though, of course, in the case of a driver and a team being submitted by the same user or long-running partnerships between users that's often a foregone conclusion). With regard to two users running a single team, meanwhile, that's normally just done by two users agreeing OoC to share that team and then both of them roleplaying about it! Only one user's RP bonus counts towards that team for reasons of balance (which user is decided beforehand) but in all other aspects it's more or less just two people working together on the same thing.

If you'd like to just enter a driver or two, though, that's cool as well! If you are only going to do that, you don't need to worry overmuch about submitting anything before any deadline, since that only applies to team and circuit submissions, but it's probably a good idea to do so relatively soon so that you can get roleplaying and start showcasing your drivers while there are plenty of seats available. Other than that, do as you will and may luck go with you!

I will be doing 2 driver submissions, having read through the rules and the like. If possible, I have discussed this before and I would like to RP together with Recuecn, as a Team and Drivers. I think that between the two of us, it will work just fine. ^^

Unfortunately, I have been caught with a few RL stuff lately, so... I am more than fine with the 1000 word limit rule, and also being in NSSCRA 9 (which is going to go live soon), I hope that I have the time to write RPs.

I'm not sure if it is a must for me to submit a circuit. So I will do two driver submissions first, but if needed be, I will make a circuit and submit that separately.

Thanks for the helpful tips and advice from both you and Recuecn, and to the other folks in NS Sports. I really appreciate all the help I am getting.

EDIT 1: My submission. ^^

Ah, Valentinian names... Never get tired of them. Nice one!

Everybody, the day of judgement is almost upon us; WGP2 III is about to begin! Team and circuit submissions will close in just under twelve hours; should you want the chance to have either in the season, please submit them now!

Sorry for the hassle, but I've just edited the 'Overtaking difficulty' and 'Margin of Error' stats on the Ile Saint-Joseph track. After originally changing the Agression and Technical difficulty, I realized these had to match--I probably wasn't properly conceptualizing things like overtaking difficulty on the third sector, for example. Sorry for the last minute change.

This also brings back up my question about the Margin of Error stat for circuits: the circuit submission guidelines seem pretty clear that a low margin of error in fact means that crashes are less likely, but looking at other circuit submissions without the explanation to reassure me each time has been getting my paranoia working that i'm interpreting the stat backwards.
