[Kongjo]

I have been recently expanding my nation's lore by writing a law book, which got me wondering about the laws, culture and facts of other nations.
So, does your nation have any interesting laws, culture, facts, etc?
Anything, regardless of what it is counts. I'm just curious to know what laws people make for their nations here.
I'll start! Some interesting things in my nation are:
-All art is legal by default unless the creator requests it to be banned. That is called "Request of Ban" in my nation's legal system.
-My nation speaks a language i made myself, it can actually be learned and spoken and has clear phonetics based on IPA
-My nation is far eastern
-My nation has various clans
-Freedom is very important to my nation's people. And unlike most other far eastern societies, is put above modesty, conservatism, and being lowkey
-Sex and sexuality is not something taboo, but rather something considered normal, and even special in rural areas
So that's what i have to show so far! Curious to know what y'all come up with >w<

Edit: Extra Laws:

-It is legal to own a personal weapon if you are 12 or older. However you are not allowed to bring it to social places like school, workplace, etc. That is to prevent mass shootings. This law was passed after the Kejing-oh South School Shooting that happened in 1974 (Blade in hand act t- 4.4.1946)
-It is considered child abuse for a parent to make or encourage their child to neglect things about themselves. An example is that a father was arrested for making his son stop masturbating for a month, as it was believe he could have health problems, as well as the law believing children have a right to do what they want with their body, regardless of what their parents say. (Right of flower act - 9.23.1945)
-Bullying is illegal and can result in fines and compensations from the attacking party (Protect from cutting words act - 3.4.1944)
-Freedom of speech and expression are always preserved in Kongjo, which is also why all art is legal, no matter what is in that art.

[Lillorainen]

There are quite a few Laws & Facts in and about the Federation of Lillorainen which someone who has never heard about it will find interesting, perhaps quite out of the norm. In many regards, this is due to cultural particularities, as well as Lillorainian legal tradition.
Some laws:

• The Federation of Lillorainen is a one-party state, the ruling party being the Meritocratic Unity Party of the Federation of Lillorainen (MUPFL). However, the second of the two parliament chambers, as well as state legislatures, are elected in free democratic elections, serving as a control instrument for the main legislature, the Meritocratic Council. Freedom of thought, opinion, and expression are granted by constitution and thoroughly upheld.
• Up to this day, the Federation has no legal minimum age for drinking and smoking. However, Lillorainian legal culture is much common-sense based, and not selling booze and cigs to children is a thing Lillos would consider common sense (most start off between 12 and 14, sometimes sooner when under parental supervision), but it would technically be legal.
• There is no speed limit of Lillorainian Federal Highways, and a speed limit of 100 km/h, 120 km/h, or none altogether, on Federal Routes depending on the number of lanes, crossings, and barriers. States can set their own limits on roads falling into state jurisdictions - this is a result of the fact, that the Federation, founded in 1981, has unified at a late date, thus hasn't agreed on national limits on non-Autobahn roads as of yet. In practice, this doesn't mean confusion for the driver, though, as speed limits are always indicated in regular intervals. (Haven't seen any round, red signs with a number for the last few kilometers? Feel free to burn the rubber!)
• Lillorainen has a millennia-long tradition of allowing same-sex marriage.
• Lillorainen has a millennia-long tradition of gender equality. This is also granted by constitution, despite actually not being necessary - it has been added as some 'legal security' legislation, 'just in case'.
• While abortion has never been explicitly illegal, abortion has been explicitly legalized in all cases by federal law in 1982 - another 'legal security' legislation.
• The Federation has fairly lax gun laws, allowing its citizens to purchase handguns and semi-automatic firearms for the purpose of self-defense - of course, all within reason ("So, you need an RPG for self-defense? Nah, I can't believe that ...").
• The official language of the Federation is German. However, states may (and do) add minority languages as co-official languages.
• Beer breweries have to stick to the centuries-old Purity Law, allowing only water, hop, malt, barley, and yeast as ingredients for beer.

A few fun facts (again written for anyone without any idea about what Lillorainen is like):

• The overwhelming majority of the Lillorainian populace follows Norse Paganism.
• While German is the national language, pretty much everyone in Lillorainen speaks a dialect (mostly Rhenish or Holsteinisch, or something in between). The use of Standard German (usually a Lillorainian, strongly accented national variant) is mostly limited to use in schools and media.
• Most laws mentioned above would be considered 'liberal' abroad, but they mostly root from Lillorainian traditions and would rather be considered 'conservative' by someone from Lillorainen.
• This young lady has been selected as the most average Lillorainian citizen possible - her description is basically a 'Lillorainian Culture 101'.

-Monte Cruz was the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2009.
-The Ayamese language is spoken by 500 thousand people and is taught as a second language in schools

Monte Cruz exports coffee, just like Colombia, and Colombian coffee competes against Cruzian coffee in foreign markets. Since Monte Cruz exports most of the produced coffee, the country relies on imports to fulfill the local demand. By buying Colombian coffee, we would strengthen our rivals. As an alternative, we usually buy coffee from Asian countries, which are more friendly towards us.

Good, that we've spoken about this, then, eh? ^^ Indeed, there are a few similarities, apparently ... of course, most, if not all schools bar students from bringing guns, too, so that would be a point I have forgotten to mention. And of course, laws against child abuse are a thing in Lillorainen, too.
However, tobacco is legal - and there are a few producers of it in Lillorainen, some even exporting it abroad, so banning it would be considered a shot in one's own foot.

[Great Nortend]

Great Nortend is a very religious nation, and over 95 per cent of the population are communicant members of the Church of Nortend. Canon law is part of the Erbonian legal system, and is enforced through the ecclesiastical courts. For example, Canon lij. Ad dies obligationis requires all communicant members attend their parish church. Other canons require clerks in holy orders (i.e. deacons and above) to recite the Divine Office daily, and forbid non-parochial chapels from hanging bells or keeping graveyards.

[Blanjiland]

Until August 2019, in the region of England there was a law sentencing anyone who committed suicide to death, despite the the practice of capital punishment being illegal. This strange law harkened back to the year 1951, where the Oligarch of England jokingly passed the law for his own amusement. It was never enforced, and forgotten about until 2018, when the Lower Cabinet petitioned for its removal, which was voted on earlier this year.

Nationally, Blanjiland is home to many strange laws, most of which referring to business transactions. The most famous of these laws declares any private dealings illegal if performed between the times of 11:30 and 11:59 P.M on The third Thursday of the year. While the origin of the law is disputed, many historians believe it to come from Oligarch Abraham Kuyper, who passed the law to disrupt a dealing between two companies who were competitors with his business.

There is also no age limit for the position of Prime Oligarch, though no one under the age of 32 has ever ascended to the position before.

[Diarcesia]

Below is the beginning of the Dirge against Srekislas, dated during the Castamirian occupation of Losphortoene.

On 25 March 2013, the boat-houses (clan mafias) of Losphortoene were thought to be defeated for good by law enforcement due to the high-profile arrests of the feuding leaders shortly after what appeared to be a botched job of the Mård faction. They were proven wrong as five years later to the day, one of the most daring jailbreaks in recent memory was successfully done. Amid the carnage, they left a message to the authorities in one of the cells.

Buklatrak till Arkesius*

* A motto of one of the factions, signalling that their influence spans across the entirety of Diarcesia, from Buclatrachys in the North to Arcesius in the South.

The Diarcesian word for Indian is Barathus (cf. Bharat). One of the [Diereses] of the Monarchy is composed of them, descendants of Indo-Greeks who fled the Subcontinent after the destruction of their nation there. Upon arriving on their current homeland, they established a new kingdom, the Basileia ton Baratheon.

Edit: The mother of Phlegomy, the current leader, came from there.

Avicia is a dieresis populated by descendants of Indo-Greeks fleeing the destruction of their homeland. They decided to settle in this land despite conditions that they consider hellish, hence its name, because trade is lucrative. The city states of Old Diarcesia are one of their most consistent partners.

The first monarch Arcesius was named as such by his father since he only wanted to have one and only one child.

OOC fact: I just learned that someone with that name is Oddyseus's grandfather and that his family line is composed of "only sons".

Sigge Engman is the current head of the Boat-House Engman, one of the major crime factions operating in Losphortoene. Sigge is not his real name, and it was said that he used to be known as Akram of Kapun (Akram al-Kapun), a vicious gangster who disappeared years ago.

The Duchy of Aww in Chiyginia is known for its beautiful landscapes, blazing heat, and its enatic-cognatic primogeniture succession. It's capital is New Emeline (Diarcesian Latin: Niemelina) and the current duchess is Sybille Daphné Catherine Fortier.

Byzantine art is introduced to Diarcesia by exiles fleeing from the Ottoman conquest in 1453. The painting Arkess Autocrat is a romanticized portait of the First Monarch in the style of a Byzantine Emperor.

The Castamirian company Woj-Tech's (pronounced Voy-Tek) signature product is their Incel™ Batteries, which power a large percentage of electric cars and locomotives in Diarcesia.

The father of the Monarch Diarcesian Stanislas Baratheum (Stanisław Barateon) is Coleslas Baratheum (Kolesław Barateon)

The Castamirian Host that invaded Diarcesia and Hylvoria a thousand years ago is one among many groups fleeing from the devastated lands of the Leman Rus'. This nation, centered on the city of Lem, is a distant colony of the Kievan Rus', originally settled by a few Varangian families with about a thousand Kievans and Lechites coming with them.

The Odrioyans were very tough to defeat militarily before the modern era, thanks to their emu cavalry and the practitioners of the Way of the Sword. Diarcesia managed to conquer their land in the 19th century, taking relatively heavy casualties in the process, with only a few decades passed after Odrioya's disastrous civil war.

The Roman practice of tria nomina (locally: trionymata) is usually adopted by its Monarch upon accession if they already didn't have one. In the case of the incumbent, he is normally known as "Sandeep Etheling" and later added the name of "Phlegomy" after he became Monarch. His trinymic as a result is "Sandeep Phlegomy Etheling."

Diarcesians prefer foreign movies and shows to be dubbed in a setting-accurate manner. As an example, they would watch Attack on Titan with German dubs and Diarcesian Latin/English subtitles.

The Castamirian city of Miłogród was inaugurated in 3 November 2018.

One of the most notorious vessels the Diarcesian navy possesses is (translated from Diarcesian Latin) Facts and Logic. Throughout the Monarchy's history, a succession of ships bear that name. In wartime, it is considered a debacle in Diarcesia's opponents for their capital ships to be "destroyed by Facts and Logic."

The Metacinesis Draco, the third top-selling car in Diarcesia in 2017, looks like this.

Diyaristani Diarcesians have to constantly disambiguate between either nation when speaking with Arabophones and Turkophones; Diarcesia is commonly known among Arabs and Turks as al-Diyar. The term itself however is of Odrioyan Yoku origin as they tried to prevent their occupation by "the country" (that is, Diarcesia) during the 19^th Century.

Diarcesians are expected to be at least bilingual, and they are usually trilingual. Even more so in the dieresis of Duolinguo (多林国), the Country of Many Forests. Not only the [Duolinese] have a tendency to know three or four languages, but they have a knack for humor and puns. In reference to both Duolinguese and Diarcesian Latin wordplay, tourist guides there would oftentimes introduce their land to visitors like this: "Duolinguo is not just a country of many forests, but also of many languages."

Another interesting fact within this interesting fact: its national animal is the green owl.

The richest Diarcesian is Monocles Stephanid (Monocles Stephanides)

In the future, this is how a spatial portal will look like in Diarcesia.

An old method of execution in Diarcesia is called the Megas Oophus. An adaptation of the brazen bull, it involves the condemned being locked inside the device, and a fire was set under it, heating the metal until the person inside was roasted to death. Instead of the apparatus being a bull, it is shaped like big egg.

The first Diarcesian fast, maneuverable, long-endurance warships are Desdemona and Troy. They were made at the turn of the 20^th century and are at their maximum efficiency when paired in a deployment.

Diarcesia has a town called Glasway and another called Norgow (pronounced "nor-gov"). A visitor from Gaea may get confused once they learn that its inhabitants are called Glaswegians and Norwegians, respectively.

Some of the government buildings in Diarcesia have its coat of arms carved in their walls or perimeters. In a few of the more touristy spots, the graffiti problem is proving to be a nuisance as some of the younger visitors from Gaea may airbrush several instances of the character "ゴ" near these CoA.

In the industrial era, Hylvorian and Losphortoenean designers built the first ironclad battleships of Diarcesia. Having been aware of their Swedish and Anglo-Saxon ancestry, they call the design the Ironside-class in honor of that. Consequently, the twin lead ships were christened Edmund and Bjorn, after kings that were nicknamed "Ironside" in the past. The ships of this class saw its most memorable action in the Siege of Puerto Rabo that ended with the surrender of Geraldo del Rivero.

The Dioscuri-class antitorpedo boats are fast, maneuverable, long-endurance warships dating from 1889. They first constructed in the 1880s as escorts for the battleships DNS Bjorn and Edmund. The vessel's armament was not especially large: a 12-pounder main gun, eight 2-pounder secondary guns, two torpedo tubes, and two anti-torpedo nets. Ship trial results noted that if deployed in pairs, they can coordinate well with each other and can keep up with an assigned battleship. Future analyses reveal that the design's flaws include high costs, very limited weapons loadout (In particular a lack of 6-pounder guns. This flaw is the main reason behind needing the ship to be deployed in pairs to maximize effectiveness), and extremely cramped quarters. The lead ships of these this are Desdemona and Troy.

More than 1500 years after the first Diarcesians settled what is now Old Diarcesia, a group of Italic Romans founded the city of Colonia Longinia Sartoriana, said to be the last Roman colony in history. Their leader, Longinius Sartorius Dio, gathered 300 families over several years and fled the old world over catastrophes that were occurring all around them. They are welcomed by the Hellenic Diarcesians and constructed a well-planned urban landscape. Noted for their literate and educated backgrounds, the Romans of Sartoriana are looked up to as arbiters and diplomats. It is also from them that a common standardized language for the Diarcesian cities was created: Diarcesian Latin. It uses the Latin script and some of its loanwords and retained almost all of the vocabulary of the Old Diarcesian dialects.

It also contains seven fora.

In the past era when they were more military aggressive, Diarcesians divided the world to two categories. "Diarcesia", their homeland, and "Anarcesia", or where "the rule of Arcesius (literally the capital, metaphorically the First Monarch) doesn't hold sway." For the contemporaries, it's simultaneously a Diarcesian Latin and Diarcesian English word play. In the former, it meant that outside of Diarcesia is a lawless land full of anarchs and savages. In the latter, among the many "arcesias" or nations with their own laws and rulers, the foreigners come from "an arcesia" but the Diarcesians come from "the arcesia".

To give a RL analogy to the "arcesia" terminology, Julius Caesar inspired the German word Kaiser to mean an emperor, and Karl the Great inspired the Russian word коро́ль (korólʹ) and its cognates to mean "king".

[Andocara]

From the late 1990’s to the mid 2000’s, Andocara has had an epidemic with illegal street racing. Racing crews were rampant in small towns, as well as in Pasideon. There was a point where any “suspicious looking car” was going to get investigated. In 2008, street laws became more strict and security became tighter throughout Andocara, greatly reducing the rates of wreckless driving. In 2012, security cameras became installed in all public areas.

WARNING: If you're lazy to read, skip. This is considerably long.

Nichmer has one of the world's biggests death row population - crimes such as Homicide/Murder/Attempted Murder/Terrorism/Paedophilia and etc. [exception to self-defence] are punishable by Protection Custody, then, Interrogation. If the suspect complies and speak up, he goes for supermax and stays there, in a 2x2 cell. [Except for terrorism and paedophilia, they are stabbed and have a slow death.] If the suspect does not comply, he goes to death row and dies by any method of his choice. [Firing Squad, Hanging, Stabbing, Electric Chair.] Heavy Crimes for example Terrorism and Paedophilia DOESN'T have right to a final meal when in death row. 98% of the population suports this.

Under the law act of 1.018 of Education, Article 03, it is mandatory for all schools to have atleast 2 Nichmerian School Patrol units, they carry a Glock 18, a Taser, a baton, handcuffs, and a pepper spray. They also drive around school areas with lightbars always on, and they're easily recognizable by their white and blue vehicles, and entirely blue uniform. NSP is provided by the government, causing no cost to the schools. This prevents shootings and serious incidents in schools.

Under the law act of 12.028 of Road Safety, Article 17, ALL Nichmerian Highways must have atleast 1 radar per 10 km, and a unmarked unit every 30 km. There is a LIVEtraffic post every 50 km, which provides tow trucks, police, fire, and ambulance services, for free. This act reduced the number of highway accidents by 90% in the entire country.

Nichmer requires you to insert your State ID to purchase, view or produce adult content. It pops up ''INSERT YOUR STATE ID REGISTRY AND YOUR NAME''. Families are very happy with this change so now they no longer have to worry about their children's safety.

Elite Police/Military personnel in Nichmer are called by their ID in operations or while in public. Not their name. Example: Agent #092A, come over here. Their ID are in their uniform. Their name are to be kept secret, and they use masks generally.

Nichmer has a very low mineration index - The only province used for mineration is Litore, because we don't want to ruin our country's look.
