  • The Divisional Leagues ceased operations after the Fall Split. The Damukuni FA decided to invite the top 2 teams of the Fall Split's Platinum division, Casino Night and Hidegami United, to the Spring Promotion Tournament.

  • UICA Champions' Cup qualification is awarded to the winner of the Spring Split.
  • UICA Globe Cup qualification is awarded to the top 2 teams by Championship Points plus the winner of the Qualifier gauntlet played between the next 4 teams.

The Damukuni Football League
a successor to the FLCS

BEGIN SEASON 9


The ninth season of domestic football in Damukuni sees the final phase of a transition of changes:
  • This is the final season of Champions and Challengers football, with two top-level divisions of equal-strength football.
  • Beginning next season, the first division will be transformed into a twenty-team, single-division, Champions' Cup and Globe Cup-eligible, all-new Damukuni Football League. There are two (2) ways an existing team may qualify for this league:
    • Qualifying for any of the following playoffs:
      • Champions Fall Playoff (Road to the Big 90®)
      • Champions Spring Playoff
      • Challengers Spring Playoff
      As with Season 8, there will be no mid-season promotion tournament. Additionally, the Divisional Leagues will not promote teams this season.
    • Foreign team sponsorship using the Application for Team Continuity form, which will be available at the end of Season 9, with the opening of franchise bids. An Application for Team Continuity form may only be used for teams that did not qualify for a playoff as stated above.
    Any teams not qualifying for the new Damukuni Football League in one of the ways mentioned above will no longer enjoy official backing in the Damukuni Football League, but may be re-applied for via Application for Team Continuity should a team be struck from the list following three (3) consecutive splits of finishing in the bottom three (3) teams.
  • All teams in the new Damukuni Football League shall field a Series B Champions' Cup eligible farm team in the Damukuni Academy League. Each team shall be named for its team in the Damukuni Football League. For example, a team named "Podunk and Foobar Town" will have a team in the Academy League named "Podunk and Foobar Town Academy." For the sake of continuity, if a team is dropped from the list as per the above policy, its Academy League team will retain its players and be rebranded under the name of the replacement franchise.
  • Any nations wishing to franchise a team should complete an Application for New Team (or Application for Team Continuity) form at the end of Season 9. More details will follow at the conclusion of Season 9. ((OOC: TG me if you have any questions about team franchising.))

Procedural Notes:
  • Champions Damukuni is renamed Damukuni Football League (DFL).
  • Promotion and relegation are eliminated, as well as Challengers Damukuni.
  • The Academy League, the development league for DFL teams, replaces Challengers Damukuni and is the new UICA-compliant league for qualification to the Series B Champions' Cup.
  • The new Fall and Spring Split Tournaments are as follows:

Championship Points will be used to calculate qualifications for the Gauntlet, which will be played for the second spot in the CEdC (for the only time in the history of the DFL), and to determine the top seeds in the Damukuni Football League Players' Association's Players' Cup®.
