National Information

The Kingdom of Banija is a country that classifies itself as a semi-constitutional monarchy. A nation that is freshly a member of Atlantian Oceania, it is led by the Kabaka(which translates to King), and the current monarch is Kabaka Mwanga. The Kabaka, alongside with the Waziri(translates to Foreign Minister), whom he picks and dismisses solely at his pleasure, is the Head of State and responsible for the country's foreign affairs. Upon reaching age 25, the Isebantu(Crown Prince), becomes the Waziri by constitutional right. The current Isebantu is Isebantu Mutungi. The full list of members of the Royal Family can be found here.

Kabaka Mwanga ascended into power after the assassination of his father, Kabaka Albert III during World Cup 82 Qualifying. This is, of course, a government with an elected element. The elected unicameral legislature is the Lukiiko(Parliament), and the Lukiiko is responsible for governance of domestic affairs. The Katikkiro(Prime Minister) is elected by the Lukiiko. Currently, the Social Democrats, Banija's most left-wing major party, has won the most recent elections, a strange notion for this traditionally conservative nation. Their biggest accomplishment to date is eliminating gender segregation laws in the country when it comes to collegiate and professional sports. The present Katikkiro is Kizza Makoni, whose two terms have provided the only periods of single party majority government in Banijan history. The established church is the Puritan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, most commonly known as Puritan Mormonism. Well over 90% of Banijans identify as adherents to the state church, though freedom of religion is generally respected by the law and the populace. There is very little patience and open disdain, however, for atheism among the general populace.

Due to the massive influence of Puritan Mormonism in this nation, they are relatively socially conservative. Abortion in this country is outlawed unless the mother's life is in danger, and polygamy for males is legal. The church's Universal Call to Motherhood, which teaches that the destiny of each and every woman is to give birth to children and raise faithful Puritan Mormons, has heavily shaped the nation's view on the role of women in society, forming the basis for Banija's prior sports gender segregation laws in the first place. Consumption of alcohol and the recreational use of marijuana in Banija is legal. Due to Mormon tradition, however, the purchase/sale of coffee products is illegal within Banija- however, the consumption is not. Fans and teams are allowed to bring in their own coffee products as long as they are declared at customs, where it is then taxed per pound. Any attempt or effort to sell the product, however, can and will result in arrest.

Most people in the country speak both Olusanke, the local dialect, and English. There is a smattering of Korean spoken within the country, thanks to Banija's Quebecois roots. Banija's currency is the shilling. The exchange rate to the NationStates Dollar is 1,000 shillings to 1 NSD. Conversion kiosks will be available at all hotels and at airports to exchange your money, as well as any banks. However, using the NSDs directly to purchase items is only guaranteed at stadiums and hotels- vendors outside of stadiums or hotels are not required to accept NationStates Dollars. Fans are also advised that street vendors will only take cash, according to Banijan law- as an issue of security to prevent against credit card theft.

Of course, Banija is a developing country by modern economic standards. However, due to a recent discovery of large oil deposits in Hangaza, there is movement within the country on building better infrastructure. A general lack of development in Banija, we are a country with excellent sporting infrastructure, but little else. Most roads are dirt, and public transit within cities is via the boda boda, though each team will have a trio of 45 passenger busses to transport players, coaches, staff, family, etc... To and from the hotel to the games and practices. The climate of Banija has a lot of natural rainforest and jungle, which means that there is no winter, only wet season and dry season. Temperatures generally range at their coldest around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and at their hottest around 110 degrees Fahrenheit. For the duration of the tournament, average high temperatures will range from 60 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Banijans have a tendency of being relaxed about time. While, of course, things like flights and matches will run on time, this is something that is observed generally, especially at restaurants. It is considered standard to arrive about 15-20 minutes late for a restaurant reservation, which is something Banijan authorities would like to make note of for travelling fans and visitors to the country for this tournament. This is very true for hangouts with Banijans, dates, weddings, etc... Within the country.

The three major international airports within Banija are Istria International, Jinja City International, and Busukuma International. These serve the country's two largest cities, and the nation's capitol. All teams and dignitaries, upon their arrival to Banija, will fly into Gonzaga International Airport in Busukuma before reaching their final destination. Gonzaga International has long been known as the 'VIP' airport, catering to the royals, high-ranking government officials, and those deemed of special importance by the Government of the day. Jinja City's airport status was recently converted to international status after the discovery of oil within the Hangaza region. Like World Cup 83, All cities within the country hosting Cup of Harmony games will have their airports equipped with at least temporary international status, from the period of 10 days before the tournament begins to the period of 15 day after the Finals end.

In terms of food, Banijans are very heavy meat eaters, and you'll find plenty of chicken, goat meat, beef, pork, and turkey options on your localized menus. In terms of non-meats, popular staple foods are jollof, matoke, Chapati, a rolex, and samosas. Strictly vegan restaurants within the country, outside of Istria and Busukuma, are almost non-existent, though of course you'll find non-meat options everywhere.

Locations

Istria, Moravica
Banija's largest port and largest city by population, this is in the Moravica region, in Northwestern Banija. It is a city of 3 million people, and it is known as Banija's economic capitol. It is largely considered Banija's most diverse city. Historically, this city served as the second capitol city of the Kasanke Tribe, the historical predecessors of the modern Banijan nation. It is one of two Banijan cities with a major foreign population- the other being the nation's capitol, Busukuma. There is even a Kalactanian Hockey League team hosted in the city. Nearly a third of the city holds citizenship of a country other than Banijan. More of those come from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec or the Busoga Islands, but people come from all over Atlantian Oceania and the rest of the multiverse. It is also known as Banija's wealthiest city and primary economic hub. It is home to Banija's oldest university, the University of Loyola-Istria, and to the country's biggest airport.

Stadium
Image

The stadium in Istria is Eastern Stadium, with a capacity of 39,000. The stadium is owned and operated by Rukunbi FC, who are located within the Eastern ward(called Rukunbi) of the city. The stadium has previously hosted Baptism of Fire matches. The city's other major outdoor stadium, Kabonero III Stadium, has hosted matches in AOCAF LVIII, World Cup 81, and World Cup 83, however, Rukunbi FC placed the winning bid for Banija's largest city this time. Rukunbi is away from the oceanfront, and a more working class area, and Rukunbi fans have the reputation of being the country's rowdiest fans. Police are known to be lax with crowds in Rukunbi, and they'll allow all sorts of instruments into the stadium.

1 CoH Round of 16 Match

Herzegovina City, Moravica
Banija's oldest city, the city by its current name is over 800 years old, when it was first conquered by the Kasanke people. It is a city with a population of 1 million people. It is the heart of the Puritan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The national religion was started in this city, and the church's world headquarters, the Herzegovina Temple, is the multiverse's largest Puritan Mormon church. The Bishop of this church, formally titled the Patriarch of Herzegovina, is the most senior member of the church, and the joint head of the global church, alongside His Majesty, the Kabaka. It is home to Banija's largest university, Northern Moravica University. It served as the seat of government for the Kasanke Tribe. It is also the capitol city of the Moravica region. As the original home of the predecessors of the Banijan monarchs, all reigning monarchs are buried on the grounds of the Herzegovina Temple.

Herzegovina City had their own airport finally open just prior to World Cup 83. It is the only airport that has not been granted temporary international status, due to the 'lack of airport capacity'. While still a relatively small airport, flights from abroad will land at Istria International, and then either take the train ride north or connecting flight north.

Stadium- Star Field
Image

The stadium in Herzegovina City is Star Field, and it has a seating capacity of 70,000. This stadium was, of course, a shoe-in to host games- when you consider capacity, ease of transportation, and size of the city, it was a no brainer. The stadium is home to Herzegovina City FC, Banija's most successful side since the establishment of the BSL, with 5 league titles in the past 8 seasons. The stadium has long hosted major events, including two World Cup Quarterfinals and an AOCAF LVIII quarterfinal.

1 Cup of Harmony Semifinal

Busukuma, National Capitol Region
This is the nation's capitol, located on the country's Southern coastline. Puritan Mormons believe that their God told the-then chief of the Kasanke, Kabonero III, that he should conquer all of the land that is currently Banija, gave the country it's name(therefore killing the name of the Kasanke nation), and put the capitol in the South. He did it, made Busukuma the capitol, and declared himself Banija's first Maharaja, or Emperor. As the nation's capitol for over 400 years, the city has been the spot for many major events in Banijan history, and the seat of plenty of foreign embassies, a large foreign population, and Banija's first airport.

The city, of course, is known for having two airports- the public, international airport, called Busukuma International, and also the non-public airport, named Gonzaga International Airport- reserved for the royal family and their guests, elected national politicians, foreign diplomats, and the point of entry for high-ranking officials to avoid the general public. Heads of State/Government, Foreign Ministers, AOCAF officials, host committee members, and national teams, upon their first arrival into Banija, will fly into Gonzaga International.

Stadium of the Restoration
Image

The national stadium, the Stadium of the Restoration, sits 91,835. It is the country's largest soccer stadium, and, of course, it is the national stadium. On the stadium's site, in 1835, the Banijan monarchy was restored at this site in Banija's first declaration of independence from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. When the RBSA was formed, it was the obvious site to build the national stadium. The original facility sat 69,000, and was then, as it is now, Banija's largest soccer stadium. It was home to the Banijan national soccer and gridiron teams, and hosted plenty of international tournaments, including the Finals of a UICA Globe Cup, World Bowl and a Baptism of Fire. However, the ageing facility needed to be rebuilt so that one could fit the WCC's 80,000 seater minimum requirement to host a World Cup opening match, as required when the country co-hosted World Cup 81.

The bid from AEP, an architectural firm from Siovanija & Teusland, won the bid to build a new Stadium of the Restoration on the same site in time for World Cup 81. The brand new stadium's capacity, according to the bid, is a nod to Banija's history, of the year that made the site famous in 1835. It has a retractable natural grass surface, used for soccer, and a retractable articifial turf surface, used for gridiron football and during ceremonies like coronations. There are no gaps between the stands, while the South Stand is a single tier, designed to amplify crowd noise. The stadium contains 35 suites, 1 of which is always reserved for RBSA executives, and the second always received for His Majesty, the Kabaka.

Since the rebuild, of course, it hosted both the opening match and one of the semifinals of both World Cup 81 and World Cup 83, the AOCAF LVIII Final, as well as the coronation ceremony of Kabaka Mwanga.

Cup of Harmony Final

Jinja City, Hangaza
This city of 2 million people is Banija's largest inland city, and the second largest city in the entire country, in terms of population. This city is the economic center of the Hangaza region, even if its political capitol lies towards the East, in Aissa. Being an inland city, of course, it is not know for its diversity- nearly the entire city are native Banijans, even if many are from rural Hangaza. Historically, the city is known for being the spiritual home of one of Banija's minority ethnic groups- the Akamba. It is also sight of the first battle of the Kasanke conquest, when they moved from the Moravican coast to take over the entirety of what is now Banija.

Stadium- BCEL Stadium
Image

This stadium has a capacity of 52,400. Sponsored by the soft drink company BCEL from Baker Park. It was built to attract matches for the previous Baptism of Fire, and is considered one of Banija's premier stadiums. It is home to Banijan club Jinja City FC, one of Banija's Super 5 clubs. The stadium has consistently been known to host major matches at international tournaments.

1 CoH Quarterfinal

Busembe, Kitara
The first four cities on this list were shoes-ins. Absolute guarantees. You couldn't ever hold a tournament in Banija and ignore those four cities. As for the last cities, there was a lot of debate. One of the four winners of this debate, of course, and one of them was Busembe. Busembe is the capitol of the Kitara Region, with nearly 300,000 people within the city limits. It is, of course, on the country's west coast- but not a port city, like Istria, Herzegovina City, or Busukuma. The city, in fact, isn't what's memorable. The reason it was chosen, of course, was because of the stadium. The Kitara Region is known as Banija's hottest region, however, and so that means expect both the temperatures and the humidity to climb very high in games that are played at The Wolf's Den.

Stadium- Tiones Lumber Field at the Wolf's Den
Image

The stadium's name pays homage to the stadium's operators, the Busembe Timberwolves of the Banijan Soccer League. It has a capacity of 44,000, so it is one of the smaller stadiums awarded CoH matches- however, it is also seen as one of Banija's highest quality stadiums. It is one of Banija's most intimate stadiums, with the fans being extremely close to the field. The intimacy, as well as ease of access from Busukuma International Airport(just a 45 minute train ride to the Northwest) are some of the major reason why this stadium was chosen. The Stadium, as well as the team, is owned by Taeshani pizza company Fadron Pizza, one of three foreign owned sides in Banijan domestic football. The stadium is sponsored by Tiones Lumber, a lumber company from the Vilitan Cove.

1 CoH Round of 16 Match

Mynda, Aksum
As mentioned above, there was a lot of debate over the last four stadiums that would be picked. Which ones would they be? With legitimately competitive bids from 7 different stadiums to be in that final group of four, of course, there were bound to be disappointed cities and regions. Aissa, the regional capitol of Hangaza, was chosen to host matches in the last World Cup thanks to their large stadium, but this time around, the Banijan half of the host committee wanted to go in a different direction. Look at a much larger city, even if it has a smaller stadium. Mynda is the country's 6th largest city, with an urban population of about 855,000 people, and it is the largest city in the Aksum region.

Stadium- Electra Stadium
Image

Electra Stadium has a capacity of 47,000 for the tournament, a permanent expansion from its former 41,000 seating capacity. Electra Stadium is the home to Mynda Electra, and both are owned by Electra, a public utility company from Damukuni. This team was the first ever foreign owned team in the Banijan Soccer League, purchased before Dukuma SC was purchased by an Al Qurijan family, and before Fadron Pizza's purchase of the Busembe Timberwolves.

1 CoH Round of 16 Match

Dodoma, Bunyoro
The Bunyoro Region got a rude awakening with Bwubanza City Soccer Club's recent relegation, in stunning fashion, from the Banijan Soccer League. Previously seen as a lock to host World Cup matches, that relegation threw it all into doubt. Would Bwubanza City's revenues fall enough to prevent them from making the necessary upgrades to host World Cup football? There was, of course, the other city in the region to consider- Dodoma, a city with almost 800,000. Locals joke that while in the rest of Banija, there is dry season and wet season, in Bunyoro, there is wet and wetter season- it has some of the highest rates of rainfall in all of Atlantian Oceania.

But where to put the matches? The existing stadium in the city isn't big enough, with a capacity of 33,000. Then, of course...

Stadium- Albert III Stadium
Image

This was built for World Cup 81 under a different name, and is currently used by Bunyoro RSC. However, after the assassination of the Kabaka's father, Albert III, it was renamed after him. It will debut in this tournament, and, of course, be the future home of Bunyoro Regional Sporting Club. With a stadium capacity of 48,600, and with revolutionary field drainage technology, thoughtful considering the amount of rain that this region gets, this will be some of Banijan engineering technology on full display. Due to the unique structure of the roof, the sound is made to go down onto the ground, and many expect this will be the tournament's loudest venue due to that stadium design.

1 CoH Round of 16 Match

Aissa, Hangaza
As mentioned above, there was a lot of debate over the last four stadiums that would be picked. Which ones would they be? With legitimately competitive bids from 7 different stadiums to be in that final group of four, of course, there were bound to be disappointed cities and regions. The Hangaza region, of course, is not one of them. The region, dominated economically by its economic core in Jinja City, will provide a second host city, in its regional capitol, Aissa. A city of 477,000, it is nothing remarkable on its own. This is a notoriously difficult city to access, just a few miles from the country's eastern border with Geisenfred. It is a one hour bus ride from Jinja City, although people will certainly be able to fly directly into the city.

Stadium- Hangaza Unified Stadium
Image

This is stadium is not that new, but it is one of the top 5 largest in the BSL. It is the largest stadium for a team that is not in the Super 5, showing how even though they have high attendance and strong fan support, that doesn't always translate towards on-field success. Even though it's not that large of a city, the stadium has always been an excellent piece of infrastructure, right on the outskirts of the regional capitol.

1 CoH Quarterfinal

Lwanga, Buganda
Citizens of Lwanga, Buganda are excited for this moment- this is the first time that the City of Lwanga has been chosen to host a major tournament match in this sport, and locals are excited. They were passed over in prior major tournaments, but after good reviews on their being a host city in World Bowl XXXVII, they were given matches for this Cup of Harmony. Lwanga is the capitol of the Buganda region- a city with 646,000 within its city limits. The RTC has heavily invested in this area to ensure public transit is up to par for the arrival of the Finals. And yet, like Aissa, this Southeastern city does not have the easiest access. To get there directly, you fly into Busukuma International Airport, and then fly to Lwanga. But the highways in Buganda are known for being poor, and it is generally known as the region with the weakest freeway network not only in the country, but throughout the GSW(though, of course, this does not count places like Valanora where citizenry doesn't drive at all).

The city is famous for being host to the remains of the House of Mageba, rulers of Banija from 1618 to 1815.

Stadium- Lwanga City Arena
Image

This stadium is home to the Lwanga Lions. Longtime BSL members, in the past season of the Banijan Soccer League their tenant was relegated from the league after finishing the season in last place. The RBSA had to vote to give the stadium an exemption to their newly adopted minimal capacity requirements, as 26,500 can fit into this stadium. However, even though it is on the smaller side, it was seen as the 'best option' to ensure that Buganda gets games, considering no soccer-specific stadia within the region reach the RBSA's minimum 35,000 requirement. It beat out bids from elsewhere in the region(specifically Umbazi and Hawabark) because of the stadium's quality, and because many believe the city itself is a better tourist destination than either Umbazi or Hawabark. It will be the only stadium on the Banijan side that will not host knockout stage matches.

HOST INFO

Xanneria is a large but reltively isolated nation on a continental island west of Ethane, and when we say west its WAY west. Over a thousand miles west, the nation is so remote from the rest of Esportiva, that most contemporary cartographers leave out Xanneria from the map. Most Xannerians trace their roots from the now defunct nation of Tonissia. While the explorer DOminic Anneria was exploring the region he made maps of the area, but because one of the maps contained a random "X" to close to the his last name the name of the nation "Xanneria" was born out of this typo. Most of the Xannerian population is in the south of the country. Major cities such as York, Pearlham, Beardin and Hawthorne are located in the southern portion of the nation. the fathur north you go the mode spare the population gets. While population does get more sprse the farther north you go, there are still a few population centers such as Ropewood, Port Chelias, and Churchill. The sparsness of the are, especially when you talk about northwest Xanneria is due to a large timber industry that has been thriving up north. Timber is no longer the only industrial king in Xanneria. Fifty years ago, mining deposites of several minerals were discovered in the northern regions of Xanneria. Bauxite, Coal and Iron Ore have strengthened the industrial might of the nation. In fact the town of Bauxintown went from being founded 50 years ago, the having a population of 275,000. The growth of natural resources in Xanneria has been that intense. Travel should be no issue for internationals. Xanneria does everything it can to protect its people, but does so in a way that wont intervene with foreigners who want to be a part of the country. With a population in the billions, Xanneria is large, but non exclusive.

Busoga Islands National Team

Information
Country code: BUS
Denonym: Busogans/Busoga Islanders/Islanders(Busoga Islanders is the formal term; many Banijans call them Busogans, while locals refer to themselves simply as Islanders, which will be the terminology used by the journalists of this country)
Association: Busoga Islander Soccer Association(BISA)
Manager: Starfire (Pegasus - female), 49 years old, native of the Equestrian States. Starfire is a manager who excels at getting the most out of whatever she's given, regularly keeping the Ponyville Galaxy from relegation with a keen eye for tactics and seemingly boundless optimism that keeps spirits up in the locker room. Starfire was Moon Dust's long-time student as an assistant coach at Ponyville United and pundits tend to think more highly of the pegasus than her club's place in the table might suggest. She has been largely popular so far as the Islander manager, and with her World Cup 83 Qualifying success, the nation's only manager will be extended through the World Cup 84 cycle. There are arguments about whether she should stay or should go- many were disappointed with the Qualifying campaign, which saw the Busoga Islands essentially non-competitive in the grand scheme of things for the second half of the campaign. Her contract will expire the day after the Cup of Harmony Final, so we imagine this tournament will do a lot to ensure if she stays or if she goes.
Senior Assistant Manager: Trevor Yoenman(South Detroit). 41 years old. He has plenty of experience in management, having been head coach at the Islamic University of Busoga for the past 5 years. Of course, with the Islamic University having been ejected from the Banijan Collegiate Sports Group, alongside other Busoga Islands universities, the country's largest university regularly dominates sporting competitions within the country. After national title after national title, he wanted a new challenge, and was hired as the Senior Assistant manager. He is known as a player's coach, and is known for his skill relating to individual plaeyrs.
Captain: Marie Sonko
Alternate Captain: Berihu Abeselome.
Home Kits: Red
Away Kits: Black
Alternate: White

Select Player Biographies

1. CB Marie Sonko

The heart and soul of this team, the man who has long been a legendary footballer in this country, Delbin Kasekende, the goalkeeper, retired after the previous Cup of Harmony. He played for local club Dukuma SC for many years, and then changed to Herzegovina City FC, where he established almost a vice grip on the BSL Golden Glove award, as well as winning a host of league titles under Brian Emerson and being one of few men to be captain for both his club and his country. Not an easy feat, and he was the country’s inaugaural captain- even after having played in a World Cup for another side.

Kasekende, however, is now well into his 40s, and retired from national team duties when the Busoga Islands were eliminated by Saltstead at the Cup of Harmony. However, while sad for him, the show must go on. The armband was passed to an obvious contender- Marie Sonko, the center back who plys her trade in the Equestrian States. The Northern Moravica grad has long played for Everfree Forest HC in the Equestrian States, manning the center back position for the club. Denied an opportunity to play in her home country while Banija’s sports gender segregation laws were on the books, she has stayed loyal to the club that has given her the opportunity to play in the top flight, declining an opportunity to go to Lakiska SC and stick it out at Everfree Forest.

Her captaincy has certainly been successful. During World Cup 83 Qualifying, the Busoga Islands rode to unforeseen heights, where they were able to, quite shockingly, qualify for the playoffs, and do well enough in the first two games to control their own destiny heading into the last playoff game, against Chromatika. The team has earned a reputation for poor performances in tournament football- doing well in World Cup 83 Qualifying, but repeated poor performances in the Cup of Harmony & the AOCAFs. The World Cup 84 Qualification campaign was decent- but many believe that this is her last campaign wearing the armband. Can she deliver for her country on the sport's (second) biggest stage?

2. CB Mohan Thakshak

The phrase 'defense wins championships' is something that you hear in a lot of sports, from the gridiron to the hardwood. And that is true in this sport as well. A strong defense can take even a less talented, lesser resourced team to the promised land of a spot in the World Cup Finals. This team, while not exactly Ko-oren in the level of defense, is going to be reliant on its defense. After a poor showing at AOCAF LIX, Starfire made a bunch of changes to the squad, bringing in new faces, and promoting veterans from the bench to the starting XI.

Mohan Thakshak is part of that latter group. Marie Sonko is the only member of the starting back four who is returning, and they are going to have to be reliant on talent in the back. Enter Mohan Thakshak. The veteran center back has been part of the national team setup for a long time, but always as a backup. Thakshak has traditionally been behind Filije Kolley in the pecking order, and it makes sense, as Kolley plays fro the bigger club at the same position in the same league. But of course, Kolley, alongside the entire Istria City FC defense at his club, has struggled mightily in this past club season. With Thakshak leading his own club to have one of the league's best defenses, Starfire decided to make the switch. Kolley won't even be part of the Final 23 for this World Cup cycle.

Thakshak has national team experience, which is important. He has a relationship and some sort of synergy with Marie Sonko. But look at the rest of the back line. He settled well into his role in World Cup Qualifying, but now, the Cup of Harmony is a different task. A much shorter campaign, every moment is amplified because it is not a 22 matchday slog. Can he help this team get stronger in the back as they look to get to the knockout stages of the Cup of Harmony?

3. ST Sarika Birla

This young striker is just 20 years old. She is one of a number of women to make an impact on this national team, though of course, being a part of the Banijan setup, that country's lack of opportunity for women in sport has a knock-on effect to the Busoga Islands as well. She has gone down the traditional path. She played at the Islander Regional Academy, then played for Suwawa FC this past season in the Northwestern League, in the second tier of Banija's pyramid. Birla sat with the team throughout World Cup 83 Qualifying, and during AOCAF LIX, but did not see much action, mostly learning off the bench.

With Babaja's retirement, she has stepped into the role of #9 for the national team. Like we said, we don't expect this team to put up 50+ goals throughout qualifying. But the goals will need to come from somewhere, and she will need to be an important source of goalscoring. She is from a small village- from Kharan, on the South Island. This is towards the center of the island, and is a village of just 2,000 people. How did she come out of this village with an opportunity to play for the national team? Her own domination of opponents from a young age. She's always had the talent, but finding her took some work. It was happenstance that allowed her to be seen by the Islander Regional Academy- she ended up subsituting for a boys team at a youth tournament in Lakiska at age 13, and she got noticed by the Islander Regional Academy. When she was old enough , they invited her.

She has been defying the odds her whole life. She is just 5'5. She won't win any headers. She won't be powering through people. But she has both great sprint speed, and quickness. She has smarts, and knows how to move without the ball. She has the potential to be all that for the Busoga Islands- and plenty more. Can she help deliver the Islands to their first ever knockout stage appearance at a major tournament since the Baptism of Fire?

Trigram: SRZ
Manager: Kevin Connelly (58 years old)
Connelly agreed to come out of retirement to help novice manager Bryan Ostrom with learning the ropes of being an in-match manager during AOCAF, and agreed to one more go as an assistant manager during World Cup 84 qualifying. He is more defensive minded than Ostrom is. He took over the team after Ostrom's suicide and guided the Stars to a shocking fourth place finish at 8-7-5.
Assistant Manager: Kevin Wilson (56 years old)
The former "B-Stars" national team manager previously served as the AOCAF team's manager, but now steps in as an assistant for the main national team with Connelly's ascension to manager. He takes over the more offensive role from Ostrom.

HOME GROUND: Dave Wilson Stadium, Woodstock (105,690 capacity, natural grass field); alternate home ground is Joe Gibbs Stadium in Woodstock (75,900 capacity)

Roster (Starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS
30 Paolo Gomes, 25, 5-foot-9, 165 pounds (Portland Timbers)
Gomes recently migrated to Sarzonia and earned a spot on the Stars national team with his quickness in the box. Plays a lot on instinct.
1 Carlton Sandt, 19, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds (Lakiska SC, Banijan Soccer League)
Sandt is the younger brother of legendary Stars goalkeeper Horace Sandt. He won the starting job for the Wanderers as a true freshman and led a previously downtrodden side to the national semifinals. He has catlike reflexes and is quick off his line. Can get too aggressive.

DEFENDERS
4 Charlie King, 24, 5-foot-11, 155 pounds (Saugerties Snakes)
King plays as a defensive-oriented fullback, often marking the opposing team's top striker. He relies more on positioning and reading his opponent's tendencies and body language to figure out where to run than on speed. He's not exactly a burner.
5 Tommy Benignati, 27, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds (Wilmington FC)
The older brother of Marco Beningnati, Tommy plays a much more rugged style than Marco does. Can play sweeper in a three-back lineup.
7 Matt Taylor, 22, 6-feet, 185 pounds (Burlington Browns)
Taylor's speed lends itself to being a fullback, but he plays halfback for the Browns. He has a tendency to struggle with more physical forwards and offensive midfielders.
13 Russ Howard, 33, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds (Nicksia Knights) Captain
Howard is on the roster as much for his veteran leadership and for being a coach on the pitch as he is for his manmarking abilities. He and Taylor are rooming together during qualifying.
18 Ben Russell, 29, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Rochester Renegades
In his first season as team captain of the Renegades, he led the team to a Sarzonian Football Confederation championship, resulting in the team's promotion to the Cyanea League. If he's on the pitch in the event Howard gets subbed for, he will don the captain's armband. He is a reserve halfback for the Stars.
22 Carmela Bowen, 26, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, Woodstock Justice
Brown plays fullback for the Justice, a Sarzonian women's football team, and typically marks whomever the playmaking midfielder is. Her stamina earned her a spot on the national team.
6 George Morrison, 33 M 6'2 185 pounds, Nicksia Knights
Morrison is the only Stars player with significant international experience prior to this year, having competed in an AOCAF 10 years ago. He is here to help provide veteran leadership and bench depth.

MIDFIELDERS
8 Ernie Mabree, 24, 5-foot-10, 175 pounds (FC Corcorran)
Mabree has one of the better left-booted shots in the Sarzonian league structure and is one of the fastest players in Sarzonia. He'll play an important role in Sarzonia's offence.
10 Brady Reynolds, 27, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds (Portland Timbers
Donning the 10 shirt for the Stars, Reynolds can be very creative with the ball and will often take corner kicks and free kicks. Predominantly a right-booted player, but he's worked a lot during the offseason on improving with his left boot.
16 Trisha Collins, 29, 5-foot-6, 125 pounds (Portland Thorns)
Collins will assume the same role with the national team that she does for the Thorns in Sarzonia's women's football league as a defensive midfielder and general pest.
18 Carlos dos Santos, 22, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild)
A right wing player, he will sometimes be called upon to take free kicks if Reynolds is unable to for some reason.
20 Clayton Wilson, 20, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, (Woodstock Wild)
A grandson of legendary Stars forward Brian Wilson and great-grandson of coach Dave Wilson, Clayton is not just a fourth generation star among the Stars, he served as the playmaker for the Under 21 Stars and is a sterling wing player on the Wild.
28 Travis D'Agostino, 28, 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, (Wilmington FC)
D'Agostino will provide depth for the defensive midfield for the Stars. He starts for Wilmington in that role.
30 Erik Swann, 21, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Portland Timbers)
Swann's strength is being a late-match offensive substitute who can score in a pinch.

FORWARDS
11 Cayden Aguirre, 29, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds (Nicksia Knights)
Aguirre is the creative forward on the squad with an ability to pinch hit as a playmaking midfielder in late-match situations in the event of defensive-minded substitutions.
21 Jake Campos, 20, 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, (Portland Timbers)
Campos is a straight up target player in the front line. His leaping ability makes him a prime candidate for headers in the box off corner kicks and indirect free kicks. He played on the Junior Stars team that competed in the most recent AOCAF.
17 Mek'hi West, 31, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds (Woodstock Wild)
West is similar in style to Campos, but with West 18 months removed from a torn ACL, he's still working toward being match fit for a full 90 minutes. He can give a good 45-50 minutes at a time before he has to be substituted for when he's a starter.
19 Holly Cambrio, 23, 5-foot-7, 145 pounds (Woodstock Justice)
Cambrio adds flair and ball movement skill and the ability to serve as a sparkplug off the bench, but would be a starter for a women's national team if that competition got resurrected.

Postby Sarzonia » Tue Jan 07, 2020 4:06 pm

[OOC reminder: I RP using real time, so if World Cup 22 was in 2006, it was over 13 years ago in Sarzonia. With the use of fluid time, you can use whatever accounting for time you wish.]

It was a chilly morning in Woodstock as manager Kevin Connelly sat at the Crusty Carl's on the way from Dave Wilson Stadium. He would soon be boarding the charter jet to Bears Armed for the post-qualifying friendly against another unranked side that impressed during World Cup 84 qualifying.

Since the Stars earned the better results in overall points and position in their respective group tables, it would be Sarzonia traveling to face the Bear Belles rather than hosting them at Dave Wilson Stadium.

Now was one of the few times he had a chance to take stock of how far his team had progressed as a team from the first days when they assembled under late manager Bryan Ostrom to how they handled the grief his loss would thrust upon them, to suddenly being at the forefront of controversy with Squornshelous for non-football related issues, to a stirring rally from the ignominy of a 1-3-4 start to qualifying to a 7-4-1 finish that resulted in losing only to world No. 5 Banija at Dave Wilson Stadium.

The Stars made their mark on the chase for Cassadaigua and Baker Park even though they weren't punching their tickets there. Instead, they would be traveling either to aforementioned Banija or Xanneria to play in a consolation round tournament well known in football circles as the Cup of Harmony.

Few, if any countries really wanted to be there. The fact that they were playing in either Banija or Xanneria meant they missed out on their dream of hoisting the sport's ultimate trophy.

Still, there was some honour to the proceedings. After all, the fact that Sarzonia would be among those countries invited to participate meant that some football observers watched them and saw fit to want more from them than a failed qualifying campaign.

Now, if you merely looked at the team falling short of its goal of qualifying for a bid in the proper as failure, you would be right in the strictest sense. However, if you followed this team from the days when players consoled each other with teary-eyed hugs at the funeral and at the repast at Carol Ostrom's home to the team's weathering the media scrutiny over Charlie King's comments about Squornshelous through its improbable run, which reached its dramatic peak with a 3-1 away victory for the Stars over Group 2 runners up Brenecia. Not only did the Stars win the match by a convincing margin over the 19th ranked team in the world to strip the Patriots of their last chance for a group title, they earned a small measure of revenge.

Yes, revenge. It seems strange for that word to even come up in conversation for an unranked side against a team in the top 20, in particular when that higher-ranked side had something to play for. But the Stars got that sought-after revenge for their Matchday 9 loss at home to Brenecia by the same 3-1 scoreline. They also earned an away draw against world No. 42 Abanhfleft, dealing a critical blow to that team's chances to qualify for the proper.

The fact that Sarzonia could walk into Kingsgarden against a hostile crowd in Rozelle and pull off a victory by the exact same scoreline as their defeat at home signaled to the rest of the world that Sarzonia football potentially would have days like that again. They may not be all the way back to the halcyon days that culminated in their World Cup 22 title over 13 years ago, or even back to the form that saw the Stars qualify for their fifth semifinal appearance in team history. But they certainly were able to make their presence felt in the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Now, the Stars looked to parlay their shock success into a more favourable position for World Cup 85 if the Stars decide to return to World Cup football. However, that return won't be with Connelly calling the shots. He announced during the first half of qualifying that he intended to retire as manager after the qualifying cycle, which included the team's current appearance in the Cup of Harmony. Until a new manager is named, assistant manager Kevin Wilson is expected to be tabbed as interim manager, but he stated he's not currently in line for the full time managerial role.

That said, the Incorporated Football Federation has stated they will consider providing accommodations for Connelly to take a leave of absence to tend to his mental health and take a badly-needed vacation. The Board of Directors is said to be considering making a formal offer in hopes of getting him to reconsider his decision to step down.

Even if he doesn't, and even if the Stars choose a different manager, the future at Dave Wilson Stadium looks a lot brighter than it did even a few months ago.

The Hapilopper National Football Team
Image

Full nation name: The Dominion of Hapilopper
Trigramme: HAP
Nicknames: The Thrashers, The Haps
Team Colors: Blue, Green and White

Info:
The Hapilopper National Football Team started off strong. Winning every match en route to Baptism of Fire glory, the Haps found themselves struggling in a hurry. After coming so agonizingly close to qualifying for its first World Cup, the team struggled mightily in the ensuing Cup of Harmony, and the less spoken about their run in the last AOCAF, the better. The team has retained some of its original talent, while picking up some new ones. Regardless of how badly some of its recent performances have gone, however, the general consensus is that the team's future looks bright.

MANAGER/HEAD COACH: Thom Perkins
Perkins, 54, was recently named the manager of the national team, and is known for his ability to rally a team together. The former manager of The Soldiers, Perkins rallied the troops together a year ago to help The Soldiers score the HFA Championship. Perkins likes to rely on an attacking form of football, and will likely rely on the 4-2-3-1 formation for most of the time. Perkins has come under fire for what has been an unfortunate run of luck, particularly in the last AOCAF, and for some incidents involving the Under-21 team. Regardless, Perkins is still seen as the best guy that could lead the HNFT in these troubled times.

Perkins's staff includes:
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Buddy Martinez
ASSISTANT COACH: Charles Waters
GOALKEEPING COACH: Duke Wright
TRAINER: Marc James
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Jim McNeil
PHYSIO: Russ Oliver

Typical Lineup:

The Fans:
Typically, Hapiloppian fans, including the members of the "Traveling Thrashers" supporters group are among the wildest fans in sport, and promise to be exactly that for the World Cup. Expect to see fans dancing along to 1970s funk music, slamming drums as loudly as possible, waving their flags, and throwing streamers for every Hapiloppian goal. Hapiloppians like to have fun and they'll find ways to get under the opposing team's skin, within reason, of course. They travel well, they make the most of it, and they'll make your Cup of Harmony a memorable one, in a good way.

Uniforms:
ImageImageImage
From left: The team's primary kit, the secondary kit and the goalkeeper's kit.

These uniforms, as seen here, are the HNFT's designated regular season kits. Should Hapilopper, by some miracle, make the knockout stage of the Cup of Harmony, the team will unveil a gaudier, livelier uniform for its team to wear. These uniforms, the "playoff specials," are a Hapiloppian sports tradition, and a tradition held very dear since the early 1970s when the West Hampton Royals introduced the "playoff special" to the Hapiloppian sports culture.

TYPICAL STARTING PLAYERS:

Image
#1 | Rod Hughes | United Hampton Cities | Goalkeeper
Rod Hughes has been named the starting goalkeeper for the HNFT after Cooter Harris was drummed off the team following a series of high-profile incidents during the last World Cup cyle, culminating with a full-fledged meltdown during the first match of the AOCAF. Hughes did just fine for himself, thank you very much, and is expected to be the team's top keeper for some time to come.

Image
#2 | Kendrick Ayers | Capital City United | Defenseman/Right Fullback
The first of several new players on the HNFT Senior Team, Kendrick Ayers was a crucial member of Hapilopper's Under-21 squad that came very close to winning the Di Bradini Cup its first time out. Ayers, 20, is the youngest member of the Capital City United team, a team that finished 4th in last year's HFA Championship. Ayers, last year's HFA Rookie of the Year, was seen as one of the important pieces of the CCU puzzle, stopping offensive efforts with impunity.

Image
#3 | Colin McLain | Hapilopper City Highway Patrol | Defenseman/Left Fullback
Colin McLain, the Highway Patrol’s left fullback, is one of the more aggressive players in Hapiloppian football, and one of the more temperamental players, too. McLain will tackle players with impunity, regardless of if the player actually has the ball, or if he’s going for the ball. McLain is known for his rivalry with the team's striker Ernie Stevenson thanks to several high-profile incidents that have happened in Highway Patrol-Soldiers matches. With Stevenson's sale to Nepharim side Leichhardt, that rivalry is expected to cool down somewhat.

Image
#4 | Paul Dibble | Juavi FC (Valanora) | Defenseman/Centerback
One of the "Hapilopper Ten" that wound up going to international clubs during the transfer window, Dibble was originally selected to the HNFT before the last World Cup Cycle but an ACL tear put paid to those plans. Dibble is known to be a fiery defenseman and will not think twice about putting himself in card trouble - or even at risk of injury - to stop an offensive effort. Dibble plays bass guitar for a band, "The Yellow Cards" in his spare time with several other defensemen.

Image
#5 | Nathan Ellis | Southfell United (Nephara) | Defenseman/Centerback
Nate Ellis, Southfell United's ill-tempered centerback, was, believe it or not, the first of the "Hapilopper Ten" to get transferred, in spite of the hype surrounding other players. Ellis is an aggressive defensiveman, but is known just as much for fits of anger, most notably earlier this year when he suplexed Vermillion Rage team captain Isabella Cassadore in a fit of rage in the middle of Vermillion's 5-0 drubbing of Southfell United. Instantly became the most hated man in Vdara after clotheslining their star striker Alexis Fotellis, in a situation that led to Ellis taking a well-deserved boot to the face.

Image
#6 | Fernie Fairburn | Surrey Perimeter College | Defensive Midfielder
20-year old Ferdinand Fairburn, whose friends - and his many girlfriends - call "Fernie", is another of those players that ran roughshod over the competition, for the most part, during the last Di Bradini Cup. Fairburn is the only member of the HNFT senior team not tied down to a professional club team, declining to sign with a team while he completes his studies at Surrey Perimeter College. Fairburn majors in business administration at SPC. His parties at his Kensley Hall dormitory are rumored to be the stuff of legend.

Image
#7 | Auggie Burton | Hapilopper City Soldiers | Defensive/Central Midfielder
August "Auggie" Burton is the third Under-21 player to make it to the senior team. Burton impressed many with his performances during the Di Bradini Cup. Burton was primarily used as a central midfielder, but can be pushed to a defensive slot if more convenient for a team's tactics. Ranked #2 in H-Sport's "100 Young Hapiloppian Athletes To Watch" last month, ahead of Team Blue's newest NSSCRA driver Taylor Henderson and behind Claire Randall, the darling of the Under-21s.

Image
#8 | Murray Hunnisett | Istria City FC (Banija) | Central Midfielder
Murray Hunnisett, the younger brother of former HC Nationals star third baseman Leroy, is another of the "Hapilopper Ten" that got picked up by an international team. Hunnisett now plays for Banijan side Istria City, where he has reportedly enjoyed the change of scenery very well in comparison to life in Hapilopper City. Still one of the key pieces of the HNFT, and a crucial piece of the national team's midfield.

Image
#9 | Steve Erickson | United Hampton Cities | Playmaking Midfielder
Steve Erickson of United Hampton Cities is a playmaking midfielder and striker, but is being used as an offensive midfielder for the national team. Erickson scored 15 goals last year for United Hampton Cities, but is unfortunately known for his tendency to “simulate” injuries at convenient times that may draw penalties. In other words, he’s a flopping jackass. Erickson's flopping has raised the ire of opponents and has been closely watched by HFA officials, who have vowed to strike out diving at all levels as the sport grows in Hapilopper.

Image
#10 | Bobby East | FC Kaiserhaven (Siovanija and Teusland) | Attacking Midfielder
Bobby East, the quiet attacking midfielder for FC Kaiserhaven, was one of the crucial pieces of Garvinson's infamous "Midnight Express" that won them last year's HFA Championship before that team was broken up in a fire sale last year. Known as "Beautiful Bobby," East is known for saying very little, letting his play on the field do the talking, but is also known for being one of the nicest people in all of Hapiloppian sport.

Image
#11 | Ernie Stevenson | Leichhardt (Nephara) | Center Forward
Ernie Stevenson, the younger brother of racing driver Drake Stevenson, is one of the top strikers in all of Hapiloppian football, and it was his prowess last year against Brenecia - scoring three goals against one of the top 10 teams in the world - that got the ball rolling for Hapiloppian players getting discovered by international clubs. Ernie wound up getting signed by Leichhardt, who finished 10th in the First Division of Nepharim football last year, one of the top football leagues in the multiverse.

TYPICAL BENCH PLAYERS

Image
#12 | Claire Randall | Clayton City Ladies FC (Baker Park) | Center Forward
The darling of the Junior Haps, Claire Randall came, saw and conquered with numerous goals during the last Di Bradini Cup. Her prowess during the DBC led to her turning pro and signing with Clayton City Ladies FC in the Commonwealth of Baker Park, and is expected to be one of the top Hapiloppian athletes for years to come. The first woman to play on the HNFT Senior Team, Randall is expected to be a strong replacement for Ernie Stevenson should that become necessary.

Image
#14 | John Cornett | Gladerial United (Valanora) | Center Forward
John Cornett, Garvinson’s foul-mouthed striker, is one of Hapilopper's ten players that got transferred out to international football teams. Formerly the leader of Garvinson's "Midnight Express" Trio, Cornett is known for his vile temper and his poor behavior, such as that time he threatened to attack a referee with a beer bottle.

Image
#15 | Patrick Morris | Pinkerton City SC | Forward
Pat Morris, one of Pinkerton’s top strikers, scored 23 goals last year, but was put #3 on the striker’s depth chart due to the diving of teammate Rufus Weeks. Morris is a threat from primarily the right side of the pitch, and defenders would be very smart to trap him on the left side, as his usefulness typically goes downhill very quickly on that side of the pitch.

Image
#16 | Stan Long | United Marietta (Xanneria) | Playmaking Midfielder
Stan Long, one of Garvinson’s “Midnight Express” trio, is the more charismatic of the two Midnight midfielders. Long, a creative playmaking midfielder, will elude defenders any day of the week and twice on Sunday as he sends the ball to John Cornett for a Trojans goal. Reportedly has a black belt in karate.

Image
#17 | Brandon Herbert | Peoria City FC | Midfielder
Hybrid defensive-offensive midfielder Brandon Herbert is a multi-purpose threat for Peoria City. He can either stop an attack or he can start one. How he plays depends on the players he’s with, and Peoria City is not known as one of the top teams in the HFA Championship. However, experts agree that their poor standing is in spite of Herbert, not because of it.

Image
#18 | Steve Swindlehurst | Raceway Football Club | Midfielder
Steve Swindlehurst, who can be placed anywhere ahead of the midpoint of the field, is a strong midfielder for Raceway Football Club in Buckridge. Swindlehurst actually scored two goals last year in incredibly lucky circumstances, one from 55 yards out when nobody was paying attention.

Image
#25 | Clive Blackburn | Hapilopper City Soldiers | Defenseman
Clive Blackburn, a right fullback for The Soldiers, is a strong defenseman and will likely be named as a constant bench player, eligible to be subbed on. Blackburn, 29, is one of the more efficient defensive players in Hapiloppian football.

Image
#28 | Donnie Armistead | Hapilopper City Highway Patrol | Defenseman
Don Armistead, left fullback for the Highway Patrol, will also be considered as a bench player to be subbed on. Constant injuries have plagued Armistead’s career, and this alone has placed a question mark on his playing time.

Image
#32 | Nick Seward | United Hampton Cities | Defenseman/Right Fullback
Nick Seward, the right fullback of United Hampton Cities and of the national team, is one of the strongest defensemen in all of Hapiloppian football. His tackling ability from the right side of the pitch helped get UHC out of a few unfortunate situations, but unfortunately, that same tackling ability can go too far, as Seward is known for getting in card trouble. In fact, he was suspended twice last year due to yellow card accumulation, and unfortunately, it happened when UHC needed Nick the most.

Image
#34 | Scott Dukes | Kingsland Warriors | Defenseman/Centerback
Scott Dukes, one of two centerbacks for the national team, is the Kingsland Warriors’ top defensive man, but he typically plays on the left side of the pitch. Dukes has been asked to move to the center position, and has been extensively practicing from the center of the pitch. Once one of the cleanest defensemen in Hapiloppian football, Dukes has turned up his aggression to new levels. Dukes lost the starting centerback position for this year's World Cup cycle as the HNFT attempts to improve its lot in life.

Image
#46 | Pancakes Taggart | Capital City United | Defensive Midfielder
Poor Pancakes. Pancakes Taggart, considered by Hapiloppian media to be "the meat and potatoes" of the HNFT during the last World Cup Cycle, was relegated to a bench role for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the HNFT had seen a better player at that position in Fernie Fairburn. Pancakes, however, has vowed to stay on the team to be one of the top substitutes on the national team.

Image
#60 | Colt Delaney | West Hampton Sports Club | Goalkeeper
Colt Delaney is the third-most efficient goaltender in Hapiloppian football, registering one goal allowed per 141 minutes last year. Delaney, however, has been also plagued by injuries and his playing time could be non-existent.

Image
#75 | Eli Tyrrell | Surrey United | Midfielder
Eli Tyrrell was added to the Hapilopper National Football Team following the injury of Kelvin Beverly and the promotion of Doug Morse to a starter's role. Tyrrell is a roughhousing midfielder and can take the ball away just as well as can run with it. Eli is also known to be one hell of a scrappy player and will try to find a way to make a starting lineup or two based on will alone.

Shaheen Taleb AM R/F C, Sleepy Hollow [TAE], b. Mineru, Konoha (age 22) - 42 caps, 21 goals
Plays as a deep-lying or wide forward. Can freeze the defence with his excellent close control. Preferred penalty taker.

Patrice Langelier ST, Latrobe AFC, b. Langlois, Beaulac (age 31) - 42 caps, 14 goals
Great at link-up play and always seems to be in the right spot to poach a goal.

Matthew Lister ST, CS Saint-Rémy, b. Vickery, Conryia (age 28) - 53 caps, 20 goals
The archetypal target-man, a prolific scorer when he's on form, but tends to be a streaky player.

Manager: Andrea Crowe
The former manager of Ritter Town in Nephara is the first foreign manager of Kelssek. Highly confident in her technical approach and painfully blunt at times.
Preferred formation: 4-4-2

Assistant coach: François St.-Louis
In his prime, if anyone knew one Kelssekian player it was St.-Louis. He played at the highest levels of the sport for Albrecht FC in Candelaria And Marquez and was part of the Kelssek national team's top-10 glory days.

Records and history
Honours: Cup of Harmony 43 winners; 2x Ad'ihan Invitational winners
National anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfCUY17SfcM

Fan culture
Kelssek's national teams are nicknamed the [sport here] Voyagers in reference to the fact that major international tournaments are practically always in a different region and many time zones away (unless Kelssek is hosting it, of course). Hence, the Kelssek media will often refer to the team as the "Football Voyagers". The most popular song goes like this:

Got my first real football
Played it on a plastic pitch
Rubber pellets went everywhere
It was the cycle of forty-six
And when the snow came down
Thought the glory days would last forever
We're gonna take it all the way

(Tune: Summer of '69)

Poafmersian Squad for CoH 76

Postby PotatoFarmers » Tue Jan 07, 2020 9:14 pm

Poafmersia's squad for Cup of Harmony 76

Other name: The Red Panjias (Panjia is the Poafmerian equivalant of a horse)
Kit Colours: Red, Orange

Poafmersia would be fielding a squad of 23 players. Pending final confirmations, this would be the matchday squad used.
(NOTE: For age, they would technically be one year older, since one IFCF season would have passed. However, the following data was extracted from my personal database which would not reflect the change as I have not completed my next season.)
Squad
#	Player Name Age	Position(s)	Sex	Current Club
1 Sandi Jaliaha 24 GK M Fiskadaha FC

11 Pete Carisa 24 RW, CF M Mancodas City
22 Santik Manson 34 CF, AM M FC United of Mancodas
33 Bytia Hisel 29 CF F Kistina Galaxy
(First position is main position, other are possible alternatives)

Penalty Taker: Shakira Handris (1st), Joel Haodao (2nd)
Free Kick Taker: Pete Carisa, Joel Haodao
Corner Takers: Alex Pickford (Left), Denise Pickford (Right), or the prevailing LM/RM if the Pickford siblings is not on the field

Head Coach: Adnan Suliaha, 49
General Playing Style: Being a nation which emphasises on fast paced attacking football, Poafmersia would prefer to attack rather then defend. The players can be quite aggressive in getting back the ball, yet they do not keep high amounts of possession and often break on the counter attack.

Formations: 4-3-3 (preferred), 4-1-2-1-2, 3-4-3, 3-5-2

Fans
Poafmersian fans are crazy about football, and their loud cheers ring about in the stadiums they visit. They are very willing to disturb the peace in the area to celebrate their win after matches, so matches are best held in the afternoon or early evenings. Apart from that, they do pick up after themselves, and prevent causing much trouble apart from celebrating. You can be assured, however, that they would be traveling around to support their team, so do reserve half the spots in stadiums for them because they would pack it to the brim.

The Swansong of Glen Hailey

XANNERIA While all the pressers about the successful CoH bid, one slightly more somber announcement. Glenn Hailey Will compete in his final tournament for the Maroons in this CoH. "I've been around for a while, I've given everything I can for the Maroons, and honestly I'm ready to step back. I am still having fun in Hapilopper and, but as for my international career, this will be it" Hailey has been the captain of the Maroons for the last twelve years and all three WCQ campaigns. But with Hailey's younger brother Mark suffering a career ending concussion a few weeks ago, he's decied to take a step back. Hailey currently plays in Happiloper where he stars for Pinkerton City FC. Hailey is most famous for a game in the first qualifying tournament that Xanneria participated in (WC 82) where he scored 6 goals in a 6-5 win over Grod Island. As far as we know this is a WCQ record.

NOTE TO THOSE RPING A GAME VERUS XANERRIA

Xannerian Football is played differently than most countries. For one it is hyper offensive with most teams using either 4 or 5 forwards who run directly at the goal with balls being passed only when necessary. Defense is even more alarmingly different as Xanneria RARELY calls penelties on diving (unless injuries occur) and its actually common for players to attempt to bump other players out of the way, granted this is also heavily moderated (Shoving a player with your hands is a penalty and shoving a player perpendicular to you is also a penalty). International players are trying to surpress excessive brutality, but sometimes in the heat of the game they forget. So feel free to have some of my players get Yellow carded for aggressive play.

National Football Team of Schottia

Cup of Harmony 76
Banija and Xanneria

Manager: Raven Cullen 65 Image
Assistant: Merry Osbourne 42 Image
First Team Coach: Richard Dachs 40 Image
First Team Coach: Darren Hanlon 45 Image
First Team Coach: Sophie Gilmour 52 Image
Gk Coach: Jeremy McNott 41 Image
Physio: Claire Hanson-Conavacio 47 Image
------------------------------

On the whole, Raven Cullen looks like a solid choice as manager. Given the state Schottic football finds itself in right now, the Brenecian is probably as good a manager as they could have hoped for. The 65-year-old has already taken two ‘less-glamorous’ footballing nations to the World Cup in the form of Anglatia and her native Brenecia, but Schottia could be her toughest challenge yet. Four years with Handon side, Kings Park, will have given her a good overview of the Schottic game, and this likely helped seal the deal for the FA. Her fast paced, pressing style of play will probably ensure an easy transition for the Schottic squad who were used to that under Lionel Mah. However, given the dearth of any real self belief in the side, it will be Cullen’s ability to motivate players that is most needed. Third place at last summer’s Copa Rushmori, as well as a solid qualifying run, will have also inspired confidence in Cullen’s ability to make progress in the short and medium term.

Cullen has been reunited with Merry Osbourne, who served as her assistant during her time at Kings Park. The former Lammerton and Kingsgrove striker has only ever worked under her countrywoman, and this is her first taste of international football as a player or a coach. Richard Dachs and Darren Hanlon are also familiar faces, having played under Cullen at Kings Park. Hanlon is no stranger to the Schottia set-up, having won 42 caps, mostly during Jane Gullie’s time in charge. Dachs, by contrast, had a pretty unremarkable playing career, but by all accounts is a highly promising coach. Sophie Gilmour worked with the Port Christopher branch of the national performance academy, and her coaching style is largely compatible with what Cullen is trying to do. Jeremy McNott was brought in as goalkeeping coach under Jock Sonny, and seems to have done enough to keep his place on the staff list. The longest serving member of the team, Claire Hanson-Conavacio, is an unsurprising inclusion as physio.

Squad information
There’s a feeling that Raven Cullen is getting closer to having the squad she wants, as we head into this year’s Cup of Harmony. The qualifiers gave the manager some much needed time to tweak formations, and give a few new faces a run out, carrying out vital building work for the future. From what we can see, the defence is no less of an issue, and there is real lack of back up in one or two key areas. On a positive note however, Schottia look like a team capable of winning games; and going forward, they look especially dangerous.

The team are still haemorrhaging goals, and Cullen needs some improvements in that area quickly. However, it’s hard when there are so few options on the bench, and it may be more prudent to try and improve the current back line. Ed Lorrey is starting to look more settled in goals, as he approaches the thirty cap mark, and has proven himself to be a reliable pair of hands. Bonnie McGillivray has probably been Schottia’s most consistent defender at left-back, and with Dawn Morham as cover, Cullen has little problem there. Rian Corello has shown flashes of what she can do at right-back, but she’s struggled with fitness, playing qualifiers on top of the already heavy Nepharim Premiership schedule. Michael Koller and John Hare are most certainly the best centre-half pairing available to Schottia, but the lack of experienced cover has been costly in key matches.

When Schottia’s first choice midfield all play, they look like they could take on anyone. With Maeve Bronte providing the anchor, Valentine Roxel and Camila Soria Luna have the ability to cause a lot of damage to the opposition. Trying to find the balance has been hard though, and with 33-year-old Bronte sitting several games out, Schottia lost their shape more than once during qualifying. Colin Loweson is one player who has stepped up to the plate, with Dilon Bánach and Rosie Donaldson also providing suitable cover, and all three have done a reasonable job.

In the wide areas the team have been fairing much better, and with Jack Avelione, Raey Cnocstanger, Kelly McInnes, and Annlaug Larsen, they have two strong players on each flank. With both Larsen and Avelione able to push further forward, Cullen also has versatility, and an ability to switch things round when the going gets tough.

Corinne Martel-Burns will of course lead the line, should she be fully fit and suspension free. Keep an eye out for Jack Jevđenijević though, who’s making a real case for a start with his domestic form in Apox. Kajsa Kupper is a shock inclusion to the squad, with Cullen no doubt hoping she can replicate some of her V-League form on the big stage.

Kits

Home--Reverse--Away

Image

The kits for the most recent cycle are designed by Schottsport of Schottia
----------------------------

Full Squad

1. GK. Ed Lorrey, 27 | Image Mliona-Lpaka AFC | Height:189cm Weight:77kg | Caps: 29 Goals: 0
The last line of defence in more ways than one, Lorrey is Schottia’s one true international quality keeper in this new generation. After breaking into the first team at Dundee aged just eighteen, he was quickly snapped up by Lammerton, before moving to the V-League shortly before the hiatus. The twenty-seven-years-old is a tall yet agile keeper, who has a (nice) habit of pulling off saves at critical moments.

2. RB. Rian Corrello, 31 Image AFC Treason Height: 176cm. Weight: 66kg | Caps: 28 Goals: 1
Rian Corrello loves a robust tackle the way Gary Corsie loves a strawberry. This no-holds-barred right-back started her career at Christopheran Porty, where she was part of their golden generation, before making a big money switch to the Willox Street Pirates. She became a key player for the now defunct Port Christopher national side under Jim Reid, before catching the eye of Nepharim Premiership heavyweights, Treason. Corrello has always been a lean, powerful wingback, but her pace has suffered over the last eighteen months. She’s past her prime, but still and important player for club and country.

3. LB. Bonnie McGillivray, 24 | Image Mliona-Lpaka AFC | Height:175cm Weight:65kg | Caps: 27 Goals: 0 C
McGillivray shot to fame back in Schottia at the age of eighteen, when she was given the captain’s armband at relegation doomed, Snubbeak Rock. The youngster displayed tremendous grit and leadership, as she fought bravely but failed to avoid the drop. Despite a number of Schottic clubs clambering for her signature, McGillivray opted for the sunny shores of Turori, joining up with Mliona-Lpaka AFC. The 24-year-old is a solid, standard left-back, and a natural leader who had been long marked out as a future Schottia skipper. You know what you get with her, passion and leadership.

4. L/CB. John Hare, 27 | Image Ramusok United | Height:187cm Weight:73kg | Caps: 22 Goals: 2
Jock Sonny’s former prodigy at Ramusok is going to be absolutely vital to Schottia’s success in the short and medium term. A reliable central defender, in his prime, with top league experience - players who fit Hare’s profile are thin on the ground for Raven Cullen. He was thrown in at the deep end during Schottia’s Copa Rushmori run, and the former Handon United and Coast defender rose to the challenge.

5. CB Michael Koller, 29 | Image Corett Hawks | Height:194cm Weight:83kg | Caps: 16 Goals: 1
Glistening in the sun, Koller’s shining dome of a head will be a comforting sight Ed Lorrey in the Schottia goals. Injury prevented the Hawks defender from receiving a call up for the regionals, and the defensive mess it resulted in isn’t worth talking about. There’s nothing fancy about the former Leichhardt man, he’s a big, bruising defender, who does the simple stuff well and clears up in the air.

6. DM. Maeve Bronte, 33 | Image Crisisbless | Height:175cm Weight:65kg | Caps: 36 Goals: 0 (Caps: 91 Goals: 2 for Port Christopher)
Bronte is your bog-standard defensive midfielder. She does all the unglamorous stuff, all the mopping up, and plays the sensible pass. She’s rather good at it though, and her abilities have won her much praise at both Crisisbless and previously the Pirates. Bronte is a player who allows others to play. Her style might not be easy on the eye, but hers is a name other midfielders are delighted to see on the team-sheet. As the only defensive midfielder of top quality in the squad, she has been a hugely important player over the past two and a half years.

8. CM. Valentine Roxel, 26 | Image Starling | Height: 188cm. Weight: 73kg | Caps: 18 Goals: 4
Regional Development product, Valentine Roxel is a player at the top his game right now. “Rocky” built up his reputation at North Sabrefell, as his strength and stamina helped him establish himself as one of the best box-to-box-midfielders in the Premiership. It’s been a big twelve months for the 26-year-old, moving to Starling, winging the de facto Champions’ Cup, and establishing himself as an indispensible member of the Schottic national team. Having a player with such a physical presence in the midfield has been something of a novelty for Schottia fans.

10. AMC. Camila Soria Luna, 28 | Image CA Paulinthal | Height:176cm Weight:65kg | Caps: 104 Goals: 32
Camila Luna's career has been nothing if not eventful. She first made the headlines aged thirteen, after pledging her allegiance to Schottia as opposed to her island of birth, Port Christopher. On the park she has turned heads for all the right reasons, however, picking up a U15WC winners medal before going on to win her first cap aged only eighteen. Having already played in Schottia, Dainer, Vilita, Farfadillis and Pasraga, Soria Luna brings a wealth of experience to the team, and was arguably the side’s best player during their run to the semi-final of the Copa Rushmori. As an attack-minder playmaker, she’s normally more comfortable pushed a little further up the pitch, but the CAP star has adjusted well to the three in midfield system.

11. RWF. Reay Cnocstanger, 23 | Image Willox Street Pirates | Height:177cm Weight:60kg | Caps: 20 Goals: 5
There was a lot riding on the shoulders of young Cnocstanger, as she was thrust into the starting line-up upon Schottia’s international return three years ago. With her blistering pace, she’s been terrorising defenders for a number of years, but recently, we’ve seen her add a little more to her game. Schottia have never been blessed with an abundance of natural right-wingers, so this is a real chance for the Pirates girl. Good performances in the SPL and the DIT have seen her handed a chance to impress, but she’ll need to work hard if she wants to stay there.

7. ST/AMRLC. Jack Avelione, 25 | Image Bastion | Height:188cm Weight:80kg | Caps: 48 Goals: 20
Jack Avelione has always had a lot to live up to; given the standing his father and uncle both have within Schottic football. That said, the 25-year-old has already surpassed the achievements both, given the fact that the previous Avelione generation never managed to cut it in one of the Multiverse’s top leagues. The Bastion attacker can play anywhere across the front line, and combines speed and trickery, with a physicality that makes him hard to defend against. Avelione is arguably the only true “World Class” player in the current NT set up, and keeping him injury free is going to be important over the next few cycles.

13. FC Corinne Martel-Burns, 29 | Image Directus | Height:173cm Weight: 66kg | Caps: 135 Goals: 109
Few players in Schottic football have ever achieved the infamy as CMB. High profile disputes with managers, assault charges, and a constant battle with mental illness has resulted in the striker commanding a lot of column inches for the wrong reasons. Despite her off field troubles, Martel-Burns’ ability has never been in doubt, topping the goal scoring charts in the now-defunct Q-League, aged just seventeen. After leaving Quebec she struggled a little for consistence, with mixed fortunes during stints in Ceni and Chromatika before completing a $40 move to Directus. Internationally Martel-Burns has been utterly prolific, homing in on the hundred goal mark by the age of twenty-five. She looked like she was dead and buried after an explosive fall out with Jock Sonny two years ago, however, she was resurrected under Cullen, and put in a superb shift at the Regionals. Martel-Burns became the first Schottian to score 100 goals for their country.

23. GK. Cooper Granely, 28 | Image Willox Street Pirates | Height:189cm Weight:81kg | Caps: 1 Goals: 0
Granley has been with the Pirates all of his career, but only took over the gloves three years ago. As keepers go he’s very good, but probably not one you would call outstanding. Granley is undoubtedly a safe pair of hands, but has the Pirates’ recent domination to thank for his inclusion.

22. RB. Louis Hordern, 31 Image Handon United Height: 181cm. Weight: 72kg | Caps: 61 Goals: 1
An important player for Schottia in the past, who stuck it out with Handon United throughout the UICA boycott. The 31-year-old is a steam train going down the right flank, and is the kind of full back who can juggle defensive responsibilities, alongside getting forward to support the attack. Hordern is United through and through, and resisted several offers back in the day, staying with his boyhood heroes at a time when he probably could have played for any club in the world. He is a strong, yet down-to-earth character, who brings a positive influence to the dressing room.

15. LB. Dawn Morham, 27 Image Marionville | Height: 182cm. Weight: 68kg | Caps: 6 Goals: 0
Morham is undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in the SPL right now. She is a cool head at the back, very patient, and avoids flying into rash challenges. What makes the 27-year-old so effective, however, is her ability get forward and support the attack. Morham has a work rate that makes coaches tiered just watching her, and a crossing ability, which would make wingers weep. Dawn is the younger sister of Corvistone star Krista Morham, and both players came through the ranks at West Coast Warriors.

14. CB. Joel Kamara, 22 | Image San Marco Storm | Height:190cm Weight:81kg | Caps: 8 Goals: 0
There’s a lot of excitement around this young player, who was heavily tipped for a move away from San Marco in the summer. The big centre-half got his chance in Pasarga last year, as injuries and dips in form thrust him into the starting XI. It’s perhaps still a little early for him, but once he works on his position and the technical requirements of playing at centre-half, he’ll be a big player for Schottia.

17. WR. Annlaug Larsen, 24 | Image Samaj FC | Height:169cm Weight: 63kg | Caps: 10 Goals: 2
The former National Academy star has seen her career rocket in an incredibly short period of time. Her name wasn’t even mentioned during the Regionals, but the Samaj winger featured heavily in last year’s qualifiers. With most of the national pool either too young or too old, having a wide-player in her prime, playing regularly in the HL, is a huge boon for Raven Cullen. The 24-year-old made a positive impact during World Cup qualifying, giving the team another useful option in attack.

18. WL. Kelly McInnes, 23 | Image AFC Treason | Height:178cm Weight: 64kg | Caps: 14 Goals: 6
[i]Riding high on the back of a breakthrough tournament at the Copa Rushmori, and a big money move to the Nepharim Premiership, it’s fair to say McInnes has a spring in her step right now. The wing-forward spent Schottia’s international exile tearing the A-League a new one, and her patience has been rewarded with a huge vote of confidence from Raven Cullen. She is currently behind Avelione in the pecking order, but now that she’s playing in the Premiership, there’s no reason why that can’t change.

21. DM. Colin Loweson 28 | Image Port Sebastian | Height: 186cm. Weight: 74kg | Caps: 7 Goals: 0
One of the SPL’s stand out stars at them moment, Loweson was called on a fair bit during qualifying, covering injuries in the midfield. He worked his way up through the ranks at Holin, before moving to Porty, where he slowly built himself into a key player under Barry Gorman. He has the kind of strong, defensive qualities the team needs; and with a shortage of players in that position, he will likely feature more in the future.

19. CM. Ava Rose Donaldson, 24 | Image Handon United | Height:178cm Weight: 65kg | Caps: 11 Goals: 2
The name of Donaldson is one that carries with it a fair amount of pressure in Schottic football. However, the eldest daughter of former NT skipper and assistant manager, Colin, is perfectly well equipped to forge her own reputation. Rosie, who previously played with Northampton in the Isle of Avon, has been one of the shining lights at United during the hiatus. With good awareness and a broad range of passing, she will likely fit in well with Cullen’s high-tempo, attacking system. There is competition for places in the midfield right now, but with the three-in-the-middle system, Donaldson has as good a chance as any.

16. CM/CF. Dilon Bánach, 29 | Image Lonngeylin Coast | Height: 171cm. Weight: 63kg | Caps: 70 Goals: 9
One of the stand-out performers from the golden age of SPL football, Bánach will be best remembered in a Handon United jersey, playing for Jane Gullie’s all conquering side. When she moved to Vilita, it was rumoured to be for a Schottic record fee of $40 million, almost unheard of at the time. Her value and profile never seemed guaranteed her a place in the starting line-up under Mah, but the agile little midfielder has been a key figure since Schottia’s return to competitive football.

9. FC. Jack Jevđenijević, 25 | Image Oldhem Knights | Height: 182cm. Weight: 73kg | Caps: 14 Goals: 6
Jevđenijević is a competent natural goal scorer, who shot to prominence as teenager while still at New Belfast Warriors. After taking advantage of an injury crisis, he burst into the starting line-up and made an immediate impact. Pace, strength, and composure in the box helped him win a move to Oldhem Knights, where he was eventually named ANL Player of The Year. He got his big chance in a Schottia jersey this year, too, netting four times during qualifying. With the likes of Martel-Burns and Renshaw not getting any younger, Jevđenijević may well represent the future.

12. FC/LW. Kajsa Kupper, 22 | Image Tropicorp City Height: 169cm | Weight: 65kg | Caps: 5 Goals: 1
Kuper came out of nowhere to earn a place in the CoH squad, ahead of several very experienced options. The young attacker really came onto a game in the V-League, where her performances helped steer Tropicorp clear of relegation. The former CfE graduate has some real pace about her, and is deceptively strong on the ball, despite her height. With Schottia going through a transitional period, this is a massive chance for the 22-year-old.

GK. William Lewis, 27 | Image Holdenberg City | Height:190cm Weight:84kg | Caps: 1 Goals: 0
Starting out his career in Chromatika, Lewis has slowly built to establish himself in Eura’s top light. A good solid keeper, Raven Cullen will be confident that he can do a job of called upon.

Fans
Schottic fans are generally peaceful, and are solely there to have a good time. Apart from the fact that your city's bars will be ram packed before and after the matches you shouldn’t expect any trouble from them. They are prone to picking out the opposition's foibles with their catchy (and not particularly witty) chants, but is always meant in good humour.

About The Nation

Mkabia is a small, coastal nation which comes out of a series of devastating civil wars. The economy is tattered and the sense of unity damaged but the lust for football hasn’t lessened - or even the contrary. This spring, the national competition took off with the first edition of the Coupe, a tournament which allowed the best players to showcase themselves for a selection. It got the crowd on their feet and gave a first sense of national pride, something which only ameliorates the pressure on these twenty-three men. On top of that, the military government has an unhealthy interest in this group, an additional ingredient in a spicy cocktail.

About The National Team

The Leopards made their debut and managed to make it as unimpressive as possible with a meagre ten points and only two victories out of twenty encounters. Any rational observer could have predicted that this is a group which has never played together before and had players on opposing sides for most of their careers - or even lives. Especially the rivalry between the core from Dragons, undoubtedly the strongest side in the nation, and Stade Djalenga, a fierce opponent of this block, played its part. During the competition, the bonds between the players got stronger, not in the least due to the increasing pressure from the government and the fans. Qualifying for this competition, albeit no one understands based on what criteria, relieved this a little bit, but it seems that the manager will have to do better than uphold the losing streak to save his head.

About The Manager

Speaking of which, the ungrateful job has fallen to Tidjani Kabirou - quite a surprising name picked by the national FA, an organ already infiltrated by anyone who could make some sort of profit out of it. Whose puppet Kabirou is exactly, that’s something the jury is still out on. Fact is that the grizzled military veteran has meagre experience in football but an extensive knowledge of the inroads and debates. For the tactical prowess, we rather look to his assistant and number cruncher Kei Tankary, but that’s just our opinion.

About The Tactics

All the delights of Mkabian football seem to have been rolled into this selection, but so have all weaknesses, at first sight. Playing in an adventurous 4-3-3 and a fashion which some analysts would call a +2 style modifier, Mkabia is eager to make the nets tremble and has the attacking depth to do so. Selecting the pivotal man up front forms the debate of the nation with two great candidates. Both Akakpo and Diawara combine speed, football intelligence and a nose for goals, although the latter seems to have the edge for Kabirou. Fact is that both superstars (for Mkabians, at least) will do their utter best to run up the score compared to their adversary. The attentive eye might spot Fodé Siry in the selection as well, a targetman accustomed to playing with Diawara and an interesting alternative over the less powerful duo mentioned before.

On the left wing, there are similarly different tactical cards to play. Expected starter Aduama plays closer to the goal and can tally some goals as well with his impressive shooting power whilst Assanté sticks to the wing and whips those crosses in. Both, however, exceed the possibilities on the right side of the pitch where Nibombe got himself a spot. On a national level, he’s definitely worth a thing or two but many doubt whether he’ll stand the test against bigger opponents.

The midfield, in national fashion, has quite some talent gathered but no one can tell whether it will click or fall apart. Linchpin Mamadou Zongo is a short, creative player with an amazing through pass and quick feet, but we’re curious if he can’t get bullied out of games. His alternative, veteran Baio is his spitting image, so that leaves little options - pun intended. Hopefully they find that space for their magic as the strikers and industrious box-to-box Zakaria Mlapa hope to show their infiltrations. Omar Bamogo is a decent midfielder but won’t speed up the game.

The back four is an Achilles’ heel, even despite the presence of the towering Salim Sankaré behind them. His safe hands, natural leadership and calmth will have to steer the ship in defence is it is doubtable someone else will pick up that task. Moutari and Ayité are not necessarily poor defenders, but lack the experience to steer the ship and the same can definitely be said about Kouyaté. He’s a talent, no doubt about it, unmatched to this level. Denké Sesay carries the ribbon on the left back but is a player with infiltrations, not the organiser of the back four. Don’t get us started about the bench. Just don’t.

About The Stadium and Fans

The River Stadium in Djalenga, home to Stade Djalenga during the year, was the home of the Leopards during this campaign. With a little over twenty thousand seats, all suffering from the wear and tear of a roofless place during the rainy season, it has an interesting atmosphere with the spectators sitting nearly on the pitch. That is, the part that is actually sitting. In practice, often nearly thirty thousand are crammed into the place and in some blocks, the seats have simply been deconstructed by the hardcore fans to make more standing room. If the fans of the national team follow the rationale of their club counterparts, expect to see a lot of music in the stands - if the opposition is not blasted away by the noise, it’s not a true following.

Mkabia fans will be vocal and passionate, but are on average appreciative of travelling fans - especially in this case as the interregional frictions are unknown to the foreign world and often because they are rare. For your supporters, a trip to Mkabia might be quite the adventure as only few planes are flying into Garo International (the only public transport airport open at the moment) and the bus trips from Garo to Djalenga are… Notorious. However, if they show they come for their passion for the game, they’ll be given some advantages by locals - as long as they don’t mock the Leopards, that is.

Don’t expect too many travelling fans in Xanneria or Banija, nonetheless. The travel is long and the price is hefty. However, those few that do make the sacrifices to show up will be the most dedicated of them all, so expect small groups who could bang their drum all day and all of the night – and some generals on leave, of course.

TROLLEBORG NATIONAL TEAM

Trigram: TRL
Nickname: Trolls
Games history +18=2-10
FA Chief Executive Torben Mortensen.

Image

Trolleborg is a huge country having reason to be proud, because it’s regularly receives high marks in various ratings that assess the quality of life and economic situation. But many years ago we ceased to be interested in affairs abroad, resign from the World Assembly and almost cease to make himself seen in the world. But now our national leader propose: “Let’s open the door slightly and see what happens!”. Our sport teams is already take a part in U18 World Cup, where trolleborgians put a decent display and Baptism of Fire, which our team won. WCQ84 Campaign it turned out to be extremely nervous, replete with completely inexplicable and illogical results, so no one really knows what to expect from a new competition. When invitation to the CoH was sent to Trolleborg, a serious debate insued in the top management on the topic of whether to participate, and the proposal to participate was accepted with a score of 9 to 6. The final decision on the need to participate in international football matches will be made at the end of the tournament.

Football is a prime sport for a country, with a league having begin 128th season right now, albeit a big chunks of the Republic’s population tend to play cricket (southeast), basketball (northwest) and concentrate on martial arts of every sort (far north).

Usually teams in Trolleborg employ pay-as-you-play performance-based system of wages. This is apart from the one team, that historically paid to the players accordingly to complex set of rules, taking into account things like a social stature, role on the field and so on. Many clubs prefer to give a voice in this regard to fans. Fans, from their side, expect a strong teamwork, so players has an incentive play as good as only can and not concentrate on the self-promotion.

There was a possibility to play abroad, but due to the strong local affinities and forementioned isolationism not many players taking this way. After the completion of the Harmony Cup, however, many football players promised to consider the prospect of pursuing a career abroad.

National pride have a real big boost after Baptism of Fire triumph, but results of games in qualifying tournament, almost completely devoid of logic and consistence, totally confused general public.

NATIONAL TEAM

COACH

Morten TROGHIL who just turned 53 years old, have a record of building teams at the different places, make them play attractive fast football and won numerous competitions - in his fifteen-years coaching career he capture five championships with a two different teams and five cups with three different teams. He won a Baptism of Fire tournament, led the team during the WCQ tournament, but it is not yet clear how successful the performance of the national team can be considered under his leadership, there is simply nothing to compare.

PLAYERS

Goalkeepers
1. Tomas Kot Kotsson (27). Flexible and agile, quick-thinking, he, alas, don’t make miracles on either BoF or WCQ. It will be seen, how things will looked like in a new tournament.
12. Klemens Gould (25). He joined the team during the qualifying tournament and proved to be a reliable goalkeeper, but not much more.
23. Marten Windass (32). There was a two strong contenders for the place of third keeper and lively debates are held, which one will be better in the case both first-choice keepers fail everything – seasoned veteran or young star – and place was given to first one. In the time, he was like a Kot Kotsson, and albeit now he wasn’t so fresh and fast as in his heyday, but he was extremely experienced and knows many secrets of goalkeeper trade.

Defenders
2.Nikolaas Laste (28). He was reliable left back, who has a tendency going forward, but in the recent years prefer to concentrate on his defensive duties, which he does very successfully in the local championship, and not so successful in the international games.
3.Kasper Wolters (25). One of the team brightest stars, he is right back by default, but he is very strong, very fast, have a very good shot and even better crossing skill. Having all this, he very often make a lighting runs to the opposition box and sometime substitute right midfielder.
4.Torgeir Dushegub (29). Known as a Column, this tall and strong player usually dominates a box both in the air and at the grass. Being always calm and confidence, he projected aura of them around. Albeit in the local championship he often been seen in the opposition box when corner kick is played, in the international football he don’t make any runs forward.
21. Jowan Tro (27). Intelligent player, good in both defending and starting phase of the attack, with a strong header skills he can play both in the center and left side, but in the international line-up he usually play center defender or anchorman. A psychological breakdown happened to him in the first half of the qualifying tournament and after a series of unsuccessful games, he lost his place at the lineup, playing mainly as a substitute
5. Aien Troger (26). He is fast, strongly build and extremely good in tackling. It’s very challenging to move into the box past him. Maybe he will go into pages of history as one of the most brightest defenders of our championship, but his career having taking hit from his unsuccessful. marriage bid for Abanhfleft midfielder (there is more about that). It’s being seen, is he will be able overcome the crisis and come back to his usual high level.
18. Torben Bagger (25). He was distinguished by composure and the right choice of position in the games of domestic championship, and he was called up to the national team due to the breakdown of the two key defence players, proved to be solid choice, but right now not much more.
14. Heiko Aldekamp (25). Useful addition to the team, can play both right and left defender, preferably first one, moving fast and tackling hard.
15. Morten Levenkrans (30). Full left back in the beginning of his career, he than move to the center, having considered almost impassable in both positions. Albeit right now not the fastest man on the field, he is very good man-marker, having excellent header and can be very useful when attacks began. He married recently, and this only enhanced his performance on the field

Midfielders
6. Rolf Valgren (29). Quick-thinking, with a perfect understanding of game, seeing everyone and everything in the field, and with brilliant passing skills, this man can bring ball everywhere he wants. It is very possible, that he will be one of the greatest midfielders in the history of Trolleborg, have he not lacking some technique and speed.
16. Hendrick Groningen (26). The defensive midfielder, probably the best in his generation, joined the team during the tournament and proved himself worthy of a place in the team, caused a lot of problems to the attacking players of the opposing teams, although he still lacks the experience of international matches.
8. Finn Finnsnes (27). He is only one in the whole selected team to play abroad, having spend three seasons at the top team in one of the regional strongest championship and won one bronze and one silver medal. But constantly changing coaches, each with own understanding what to do on the field, pressure of crowd due to the team instability when people expect unbroken strings of victories and adverse climatic conditions compelled him move back at Trolleborg. He was one of the creators of the victory in the BoF, and try to make himself useful in the WCQ, but without much success, albeit he receive some positive mentions in foreign press. Beginning his career as a right midfield\right winger, now he play more like attacking midfielder. He is swift, smart, good dribbler and excelled in set-pieces.
9. Morten Troll (24). He is a brightest star of under 25 in the whole country. Genius of game, with a wonderful dribbling, beautiful technique, excellent pass and extremely good shot, he won many games for his local team single-handedly, but also a great team player. Highly probably, he will be a player of generation, and very probably, best player Trolleborg ever had. He brilliantly justified all the positive reviews of his game on the BoF, helping a team many times in difficult situations with its smart actions.
22. Alexander Bornitse Zach “Zhita” (25). Originated from the far-flung north part of the country, not well-known for a excellent players, he was an idol for his compatriots and find a place in the hearts of other fans. Almost devoid of what was known as classical football tecnique, have rather unusual style of play and often creates goal opportunities from nowhere. One example was recent BoF, when his visible insane pass decided the outcome of the game in the quarterfinal. But he played quite pale in the WCQ and it’s seen is he remain in the squad after CoH.
7. Ruud Kolding (27). Left midfielder, covering lot of ground with his unbeliveable stamina, can press forwards or go back as team need. Albeit seen as a substitute, he won the hearts of fans and a strong place in the first team with his perfect game in the BoF matches, having retained it after WCQ.
19. Brutil Mogrin (28). Can play either in the center or as a right midfielder, with a nerves of steel and cold mind he will continue be a useful backup for any of the midfielders if need arise.

Forwards
10. Stuart Kerr (29). Best sniper of the last two championship, quick, brave, skillful, and having ability shot from everywhere in the box right despite defenders best efforts. Brilliantly confirmed his reputation as a prolific scorer, winning a prize for the topgoalscorer of BoF and add to his tally not a few goals in the WCQ.
11. Torfinn Skaloed (27). Intelligent forward as it was, he can move very quickly, constantly ahead of the defenders, successfully escapes from markers, and in case of need he often going back and successfully acquire ball here to begin attacks. In the BoF games, he was, though, play mainly in the role of power forward, not quite familiar to him, and it was not his best games and he is completely out of the game in the WCQ.
17. Tom Gulbranden (28). Build like a very tall stone wall, he easily can tramp defenders if he wish to do so, but his strong leg shot, without any preparation at all, give him other opportunity to have a points of popularity with fans. It is looked impossible, that a man of such a stature can bring himself in the air at all, but nevertheless he is – strongly jumping and struck the ball by the head with deadly precision. This is what he prove in the BoF games four time, but WCQ campaign was much less successfull for him.
20.Kay Tjeerd (24). Fox-in-the-box as he is, fast and lucky, good substitution to the Skaloed if something will be wrong with him. His goal to game ratio is one of the best in the league’s history, albeit place in the lineup of international team eluded him for now.

It is widely understood that our team will play fast attacking football with a strong teamwork and apply pressing whatever on the field when ball is not on our side. Having slapped by both strong and weak teams in the qualifying tournament, Trolleborg team nevertheless go to CoH with desire to prove their worthiness.

Bears Armed

‘The Bear-Belles’

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
BAAS Chairbear: SurrannaSunDaughter (clan= Sun; female Ursine; formerly manager of ‘Sun Valley Smashers’, one of the country’s leading teams, after being their chief coach and also playing for them in various roles for several years; age = 46, fur = golden-brown, left-pawed, now wears glasses.)
National anthem (for sports): ‘The Banner Green And Gold’.
Official supporters' organisation: 'Arri's Furry Army'.

Yes, it’s an all-female team again. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually closer to being a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] that sport’s “proper” teams are all-male and so some females who wanted to make it as players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for quite a while.

All of the players and support staff are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears)], except for any whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but are spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

As far as Bears Armed is concerned, this Cup contest is taking part in the year that the Urssish calendar numbers as 4217, which is basically equivalent in the Gregorian calendar to [April-December 2026
AD + January-March 2027AD]. That’s despite the fact that, according to Bears Armed’s previous timeline for sporting events, DBC #29 took place in the year 2100AD and so the “current” date really should be in the 2170sAD instead…
The ages & lengths of experience currently given below are basically correct for this period (having been updated from those given at the start of WC84’s qualifiers) although of course in some cases birthdays will take place during this ‘season’ rather than just (however much easier that would make keeping the records accurately…) only between ‘seasons’…

Some of the staff employed during the WC84 qualifiers have been detached to start preparing the nation’s next DBC team instead, and the squad of players has been reduced to 23 members from the larger pool that was used during WC qualifiers. Three of the youngest players from that pool have also been sent to help organise the new ‘U21s’ team, in which it is anticipated they will be active members (= goalkeeper Marra o TrustyHand, defender Urrsarra ShipBear, and forward Beorranna Norr-Vurra… all of whom have performed well enough that if we could use the full pool in the CoH then they would have been retained for — & almost certainly see play in — this contest as well…).
They have continued to train as a team since those qualifiers, instead of just “resting on their hollies” fitting this in around club commitments and with some reductions in players’ obligations to their home clubs negotiated to allow extra time for this as well. This process has included continued work on the tighter defending and physical conditioning… and yet more work on ‘set pieces’, as well as ‘open field’ play, as well.

Staff

Manager & Chief Coach: Urrsara Northgate _ Clan = Urrset; female Ursine; a former Deputy Manager & Chief Coach at ‘Sun Valley Smashers’ (one of the nation’s top teams);had spent 6 years in such roles, after 5 years as a player (as Forward, Midfielder, and Lynchpin) there and 7 years before that (mostly as a Midfielder) at River City, before she was appointed to this job 6 years ago. (Age = 42; fur = reddish light-brown, left-pawed; speaks Ursine and English.) She is now managing the new ‘U21s’ team as well, until a full-time Chief Coach is selected for that, and consequently might not always be present during the CoH.

Deputy Manager & Chief Coach: Karra’harrna Thunder _ Clan = Gunnar; female Ursine; formerly the Attacking Coach at ‘Newton Arsenal’ (another of the nation’s top teams),and had spent 5 years in that role after 8 years as a player (as Forward, Winger, and Midfielder) there before she was appointed to this job 8 years ago. Her job-title has just been upgraded. (Age = 35, fur = dark brown, left-pawed; speaks English, Ursine, and Ruottsan).

Defending Coach: Greenfinch o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods; female Ursine; formerly the Deputy Coach at ‘Lakeport Lionesses’ (another of the nation’s top teams), and had spent 9 years in such roles after 7 years as a player (as Lynchpin, Back, and [less frequently] Midfielder) there before she was appointed to this job 8 years ago. (Age = 39, fur = dark brown & relatively long; speaks English and Ursine).

Physical Fitness Coach: Charra o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods; female Ursine; was hired (from private employment in a gymnasium in Council Groves) as an assistant to team’s original holder of this position during the gap between DBC46 & the WC84 qualifiers, and has now been promoted; is descended from Beorra o Barrdenn, who played [as Centre Forward, mainly] in the Belles’ very first squad but later went into national politics. Deputy Manager (Admin): Judith Gold _ Free Sept = The Exodus; “ursomorphic” Human, female, follows a moderate form of Judaism; seconded from BAAS head office 8 years ago. (Age = difficult for anybody unfamiliar with ‘ursomorphs’ to tell, but obviously an adult, fur = black, right-handed; very good with languages, and already fluent in several Human ones — including English, Yiddish, German, French, and Greek — as well as in both Ursine and Ouesttree; also, since taking this job, has started learning Ruttsan). She is based at Wimbley, and will rarely if ever actually be present with the CoH team.

Routemaster: Helene Bosanquet _ Clan = Calvin; Human, female; on loan [again, as in DBC45 & DBC46] from the Bears Armed Tourism Agency. She will be with the team during the CoH, and reporting back to Judith Gold as necessary.

Doctor: Lierr’hee Redwood-of-Thramms _ Clan = Redwood; female; hired from private practice by BAAS for DBC45, for DBC46, and back again for this tournament. (Age undisclosed, but has been a doctor for over 31 years, fur = ‘grizzled’ black, right-pawed; speaks English, Ursine, and probably one or two other languages as well).

Chief Physiotherapist: Krrystal Bruin _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; previously worked at hospitals in Wiston City, and helped with local amateur football league, but was appointed to this job shortly before DBC45 and has remained with the team since then; her job title was upgraded from just ‘Physiotherapist’ after DBC46. (Age = late-thirties, fur = dark brown, left-pawed; speaks English, Ursine, and Ouesttree; mother of one child, a daughter, Steffannee Bruin, who is one of this team’s players.

Chaplain, ‘One Plus Seven’: Marra Moon _ Clan = Silver-of-Night; female Ursine; assigned to this duty by her superiors in the Great Medicine Society shortly before DBC45 and has been posted at Wimbley Stadium in between tournaments. (Age = mid-thirties [apparently], fur = light brown, left-pawed; is not only a Shabear but also a qualified psychiatrist; speaks Ursine, English, some German and Yiddish, and probably one or more other languages as well.)

Chaplain, Ursion: Jharge “No Relation” Potter _ Clan = Artorran; male Ursine; assigned to this duty by his superiors approximately two years after the end of DBC45 and thus 5 years before this ‘CoH’ tournament. (Age = early/mid-thirties, fur = light brown, right-pawed; like many other members of his clan, is slightly more “anthropomorphic” than is typical for Bears from this nation; speaks Ursine, English, French, some German, and some Greek; keen chess-player.)

Security Chief: Major MerrfinhBlonk _ Clan = WestWoods; male; on loan [again, as in DBC45, although he has been promoted one rank since then] from [REDACTED] in the Confederal Army. (Age = mid/late-thirties, fur = medium-brown & relatively long, right-pawed [apparently]; speaks Ouesttree, French, Ursine, and English… at the least.

Caterers: Jordon Blue

Fandom Liaison Officer: Etta Halliday _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; played in the DBC45 squad, as the usual starting Right Back, while a student at WestPort University and a member of that institution’s own football team; was too old for DBC46, but played a major role in organising things for the Belles’ travelling fans during that contest and was subsequently hired by BAAS on a full-time basis for this purpose; age = 26 years, right-pawed, fur = yellow-brown, short for her age but solidly built & [despite that build] surprisingly fast, fearless; graduated from WestPort University 2 years after DBC45, with a degree in ‘Humanology’; speaks English, Ouesttree, Ursine, French, and German; generally cheerful; very fond of sweet foods.

Harrdiharr Arranger: Karra-MarraSunDaughter _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; age = 34 years; left-pawed, fur = ‘golden’; specialises in adapting the ‘harrdiharr’ for optimum effects depending on the performers, opposition, location, and possibly other factors; background not made public, but was hired by BAAS on a part-time basis for the WC84 qualifiers; speaks Ursine, English, and quite a few other languages as well (She seems to have a natural — or maybeso even supernatural? — talent for learning languages, and might also help the team with translation duties as well…); interests include chess, swing music [& dance], and stage musicals.

Kit Supervisor: Missus Burrows _ Clan = WesterBrock [which is actually a ‘Separate Demi-Clan’…]; female Brock (i.e. anthropomorphic Badger); apparently middle-aged; has actually held this role with the national teams since before DBC46 [and was employed at Wimbley Stadium before that), but was not added to the formal list of officials in match programmes & similar documents until the start of WC84 qualifiers; responsible for ensuring that all players have suitable kit available, clean and intact, for every game, and also [following the coaches’ orders] for making sure that their boots have the appropriate studs fitted for dealing with local conditions; also, makes sure that balls and [if necessary] temporary nets are available for practice when the team is away from home.

(#17) Nennu Rangh’harr _ Clan = Rangh’harr Free Sept; female Harr’aynau [humanoid]; home team = Heroes’ Park Heroines, category = ‘utility outfielder’ proven capable of filling any position except [maybe] goalkeeper well; usual position = Lynchpin, Midfielder, or Winger; age = 23 years, either-footed, dark red hair; speaks Herr’-Harr’aynau, Harr’aynau-Ursine, Ursine, and English; there is speculation that she might eventually become the [adult] Belles first non-[physically]-Ursine Captain. [She was in the DBC45 squad.]

(#5) Harroya o Sarrndale _ Clan = Herrchaum; female Ursine; home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Midfielder or Winger — or, less frequently, Forward — on either side of the pitch, usual position = Midfield Left; age = 22 years, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown with grey hints; now in the job that she’d hoped for since early childhood, and doing very well for her home team as the latest “Harroya of the Rovers”; probably the least likely of this team’s players to get given a yellow cards, and has never earned a red one (DO NOT assign cards of either colour to her without obtaining my consent…). [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#6) Steffannee Bruin _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; home team = Wiston City, category = Midfielder or Winger, usual position = Midfield Right; age = 22 years, right-pawed, fur = very light brown with hints of ‘gold’; slightly small for her age, but very resilient as well as nimble; has good eyesight by Ursine standards (and not bad by Human ones, neither); daughter, & only child, of the Belles’ current chief physiotherapist; favours ‘lilac’-coloured clothing when not in team kit. [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#34) Emerladina Sunbird _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; home team = Northgate Nomads; category = Midfielder or Winger, usual position = Midfield Left; age = 24 years, left-pawed, fur = golden with reddish tints, extremely good eyesight, has quick reflexes and is very fast on her feet, lightly-built for a Bear of her height (6’5”) but this is usual in her family & doesn’t weaken her; speaks English, Ursine, & French (And might be able to understand the speech of birds….), religion = One Plus Seven; interests include Ornithology, and Martial Arts. [She was in the DBC45 squad.]

(#36) Karrh’hreena o Goodsword _ Clan = Sun; female Ursine; home team = Kingly City, category = Defender or Midfielder or even Winger, usual position = Midfield Left or possibly — if the chief coach is feeling “experimental” — ‘Wing Back [Left]’, experience = 11 years; age = 27 years, left-pawed, fur = ‘golden’, height = 6’6”; good eyesight even by human standards, and quite fast on her feet (not the fastest, but definitely above average), and has good positional awareness; long passes, across the field as well as up it, are likely from her; speaks Ursine and English; religion = One Plus Seven; another member of the squad’s own Chess Club. (The WC84 qualifiers were her international debut.)

(#7) Nerretta Barris _ Clan = BlackBear [Between-the-Rivers]; female Ursine; home team = LakePort Lionesses, category = Forward, usual position = Left Forward/‘Inside Left’; age = 23 years, left-pawed, fur = very dark brown; of only average height for her age [or slightly less] but physically tough as well as quite fast; particularly good at keeping control of the ball on the ground, and at getting it goals past keepers & other defenders into the net at short ranges, but willing to pass it to team-mates when they look better-placed to score. [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#10) Urrma Kuthbearrh _ Clan = Errhabarra; female Ursine; home team = NorthPort Navigators, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward (but has also played well as Left Forward); age = 23 years, left-pawed, fur = light-medium brown, relatively stocky but not particularly slow because of this; very determined even by Ursine standards. (#11) Karra Brent _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team =LakePort Lionesses, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Right Forward; age = 21 years, either-pawed, fur = golden-brown; quite large & very powerful for her age, fast & nimble, with very good eyesight even by human standards; apparently fearless, and has better control over her temper than might have been the case back around the time of DBC45; she is a cousin of the internationally famous journalist/broadcaster Bark Brent; attended Holy Ternian’s School. [She was in the DBC45 & DBC46 squads.]

(#21) Mirra Thunderbolt _ Clan = Gunnar; female Ursine; home team = Newton Arsenal; category = Forward or [“Attacking”] Midfielder, usual position = Right Forward or Midfield Right, experience = 5 years; age = 25 years, right-pawed, fur = medium brown, 6’4” tall, powerfully built, fast on her feet but more as a sprinter than as a long-distance runner, can jump quite well, good at long shots and can put enough strength behind these to get them past even some goalkeepers who do see them coming; speaks English, Ursine, and some French; religion = Ursionity. (The WC84 qualifiers were her international debut.)

[#22) Leona Wright _ Clan = Greybear; female Ursine; home team = River City, category = Forward or Winger, usual position = Forward Right or Right Winger; age = 22 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown (but, unlike that of many of her clan-mates, without any greyish tints); speaks English and Ursine; her father is a merchant who took her along on some trips into Human nations during school holidays from when she as 9 years old until when she was 18, and she probably understands humans better than any of her team-mates does. [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

(#23) Marra o Redbank _ Clan = BlackBear [‘Between-the-Rivers’]; female Ursine (‘black bear’ ancestry predominates); home team = Tsikago Aces, category = Winger or Forward, usual position = Left Winger; age = 21 years, left-pawed, fur = black; speaks English and Ursine; nicknamed “Little Storm” because, although relatively short for an Ursine (at only 5’9”), she is determined, fast, and very hard for opponents to predict; very good at manoeuvring through tight defences, more likely to pass the ball to a more experienced Striker than to take a shot at goal herself but has scored some goals — including several from “surprisingly” wide angles — in the squad’s “warm-up” games before DBC46 and then two (one of them in the Cup Final) in that tournament itself. [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

(#37) Amarr’hrrree o Redwood _ Clan = Redwood; female Ursine; home team = Kingly City, category = Forward, usual position = Centre Forward; age = 26 years, left-pawed, fur = medium brown with chestnut hints, 6’7” tall, powerful even by Ursine standards; speaks Ursine, English, [some] Artorranick, and [some] German; religion = Ursionity; interests include weightlifting, wrestling. [She was in the DBC45 squad.]

(#13) Sarranna White _ Clan = WestWoods; female Ursine; home team = Wiston City, category = Winger or Forward, usual position = Right Winger or Forward (‘Outside’) Right; age = 22 years, right-pawed, fur = ‘cream’; said to be better than most of her team-mates at understanding humans. [She was in the DBC45 and DBC46 squads.]

(#25) Jirroth’hra daughter-of-Harrieth’hrra _ Clan = Longwater [‘free sept’]; female Harr’aynau [humanoid]; home team = Heroes’ Park Heroines, category = Winger or Midfielder, usual position = Right Wing or Midfield Right, experience = 9 years; age = 26 years, right-footed, hair = chestnut, 6’2” tall, more lightly-built than is typical for Harr’aynau (more like a “standard” Human) build, and very fast on her feet; speaks Harraynau-Ursine, English, and Ursine; religion = Harr’aynau tradition of GreatBear-ism. (The WC84 qualifiers were her international debut.)

(#26) Hannorra Scarlett _ Clan = VerraVokksur [Free Sept]); female ‘Vokksurr’ [anthropomorphic Fox]; home team = LakePort Lionesses, category = “utility outfielder”, usual position = Forward or Winger or Midfielder; age = 19 years (but her people mature slightly faster than either Bears or Humans, so treat her as more like “early 20s” instead for most purposes), right-pawed, fur = gingery-red (slightly paler on chest & belly, but of course you won’t see that during matches unless her shirt gets badly torn); 5’8” tall, with a slender build by usual human standards — let alone by Ursine ones — but with visible muscles and definitely stronger than some people might expect, and has a bushy tail about 3’ long which she normally holds up behind her back (Pulling her tail may draw a retaliatory snap with her long jaws & sharp teeth, although she tries not to bite people in most situations; the likeliest result, if the referees is observant and honest, would be yellow cards for both players involved…); her leg-joints work more like those of a non-anthropomorphic fox than like those of a human, meaning that she looks rather as though she has backward-pointing knees but those are really her ankles instead, which might make her movements a bit harder for other people to predict (but also means that the bones below that joint are more numerous, and therefore thinner, and therefore slightly more fragile, than those between a human’s knee & ankle…); interested in fashion, and may affect a ‘warrior princess’ style for foreign media (to her team-mates’ quite amusement). [She was in the DBC46 squad.]

________________________________

Usual starters = #1, 2 3, (either #4 or #17) # 5-7, 10-11, 13, 23.
Usual substitutes = #14 or #30 as Goalkeeper; whichever out of #4 & #17 was not chosen as a starter; one or two out of (#31, 32, 34, 36); four or three out of (#21-22, 25-26, 34, 37). (Yes, #34 is listed twice: This is due to her versatility…)

Style: Offensive, modifier = +3.5 ("A good offence is the best defence"...). This has actually been reduced slightly since DBC#45, when they used +4.0 instead, because team training since then has included a bit more emphasis on tightening up their defence.
They have also modified their planned formation slightly from the “traditional” Ursine one, which included a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and a ‘Lynchpin’ (whose starting position was approximately be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions). Two of the strikers now drop back to a bit behind the line formed by the Centre Forward and the two wingers (who might move “in” by a little bit, as well), while the Lynchpin is now stationed noticeable closer to the backs than to the midfielders. “Joining the dots” would, looking at the pitch from above and placing the Bears’ goal-line at the bottom of the picture, give you [approximately] a stretched-sideways ‘W’ in front of a stretched-sideways ‘M’.

Penalties and direct free kicks are most commonly the responsibility of Karra Brent (#11), unless they are “last minute” ones (or within a few minutes of the game’s end, anyhows…) and the Bears really need another goal to turn a draw into a win or or even a loss into a draw: In the latter case this role is more likely to be assigned to Harroya o Sarrndale (#5) instead, because she is more likely to remain completely calm in such situations. Harroya is also the most likely player to take corners.
Alternatively, taking a penalty might sometimes be assigned to a different player if it was a foul on that player which led to us being awarded the right to that shot.

Opponents who RP first may _
Choose my goal-scorers: Y, except that this will NOT be the goalkeeper.
RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any really serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first. (#5) Harroya o Sarrndale should NOT be reported as being given any cards unless you can get my consent first. (#11) KarraBrent will NOT be injured by anything that ‘mundane’ players do during play, not even by the most open & violent physical attacks.
Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

Kit: This incarnation of the team will normally wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past.

Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and the set of ‘shirt numbers’assigned to this team’s players has been determined on that basis.

______________________________________________________

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate on average than humans of comparable ages, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human — as well as a very skilled one — to tackle them successfully (or, at least, one who has reasonable experience of playing against Ursines…), which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with so they shouldn’t need to jump as often in order to intercept [relatively] high shots...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
They generally do not perform the sort of extravagant ‘goal celebrations’ that are seen in some RL football today. A brief hug from a team-mate, or just a pat on the shoulder, is usually all that happens…
Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...).
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly also 'Urrs-horns' [which are similar to Alpenhorns, cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The team is accompanied by a number of sapient Ravens, who are there both to gather information about the rival sides and to provide air cover in case of hostile waterfowl.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Mattijanan Roster and Information for Cup of Harmony 76

The Story So Far

Despite a series of fairly average results in the World Cup, Mattijana have risen to the position of regional heavyweights within Esportiva. Successive bronze medals in the 20th and 21st tournaments were finally broken by a second-place finish in the 22nd addition, despite a 5-0 drubbing by Brenecia in the final. They finally claimed the big one last time round though, beating the same opposition by 2 goals to 1, winning their first tournament in the process. Despite missing key players, the squad backed up that result at CE 24, beating Damukuni in the third-place play off to win another bronze medal.

Despite continued regional success however, the country, including Dusan Vukoja's employers at the MattijanaFusBand, have become increasingly unhappy with Mattijana's dismal attempts at qualifying for a World Cup and despite a decent fist of it in which the team threw away their chances of a playoff with a 0-0 draw at lowly Saintland, Vukoja resigned before he got the chance to be sacked. There has been a hefty amount of turnover in the squad in recent months and the team has been rocked by the departure of all-time scorer Mathilde Lekarisa to birth-country Saint Émelie.

In an unorthodox attempt to salvage things, former FK Shalkar boss Zala Stefanidi was appointed just before Cup of Harmony 75. However, a poor showing there, and Mattijana's worst Campionato Esportiva in 6 attempts have already piled pressure onto the new manager, placing Mattijanan football into a state of disarray.

Stefanidi's international career may already depend on how she can perform in World Cup Qualifying. In that regard it was different style, same outcome. Mattijana looked favourites to qualify second for much of the cycle, before a poor run just after the halfway stage let Zwanzug back into the mix. A 2-1 away loss to their rivals eventually sealed their fate, but defensively, the Marmot looked much more solid and unearthed new talent in all parts of the pitch.

Team Info

World Rank: 60
Esportivan Rank: 4
Style Modifier= +1
National Association: MattijanaFusbalBand (MFB)
Kits: Image

Formation

Head Coach: Zala Stefanidi

Assistant Manager: Dominik Samikov (FK Burges)

The assistant manager at Championship leaders FK Burges hails from the North-East of Mattijana and began his career at Dinamo Legisaw, another division 2 side before then moving as one of the tactical staff to FK Burges, where he has since worked his way up the pecking order to assistant manager. He has an excellent tactical mind as well as good player welfare skills and helps out Ljubanik in both management areas. He has so far proved himself to be a capable aid.

Head Scout: Marcel Kuzbacher

Marcel Kuzbacher is a seasoned scout, mainly plying his trade for the famed Puljanka Academy. He has links with numerous players in the Mattijanan squad as well as the under-21 side and makes up the 3-man selection panel alongside Samikov and Ljubanik.

Fitness Coordinator: Jelena Neumanič

Jelena Neumanič is responsible for the diet and fitness of the squad, freeing up the main management team to think about tactical matters. She has a solid variety of exercises and is well-known for getting on player's backs if they don't keep up with their expected effort levels.

Psychologist: Samira Kazmir

Samira Kazmir is an experienced sports psychologist who has done work for both the summer and winter Olympic teams, the Mattijanan ITT side and the MRT motor racing team. She is responsible for the mental welfare of players, stretching from the collective mind-set to more personal issues for each individual in the squad. It's a far-reaching and often complicated task.

The Medical Team:

Head Doctor: Dr Charlotte Smitič
Assistant Doctor: Dr Mattias Buranov
Physio: Martina Laramazič
Physio: Mika Glasnić

The Players:
GK-Lucija Handanovic-#12-Age 29-FK Revinka
Understudy to Matej Handanovic for most of Ljubanik’s tenure, Lucija is again favourite to start between the sticks for Mattijana in the upcoming qualifiers. The 25 year old has impressed for club side Revinka in the recent season with both solid performances and heroic clean-sheets and will be tricky to keep out of a starting place.

LB-Helena Neumann-#2

The Burges Player is a regular in the championship leading side and will provide a good defensive option with the occasional run forward to help out the wingers. Barring any injuries or unlikely suspensions, she will play all of Mattijana's matches,

CB- Rikard Illicić-#14
The first Mattijanan player to move abroad, specifically to the top division in Buyan, Illicić was widely expected to replace Edvard Crajasović in the starting lineup on the retirement of the ledgendary centre back and now has. He is modelled in a similar style as his predecessor too. He's big, he's strong and despite being slower than other defenders, he is able to stamp his authority on attackers with some gritty tackles.

CB-Katija Burnisevič-#4-Captain

Another Burges Player, Burnisevič is a potential answer to Crajasović's clumsiness and is a quick, skilful and sure-footed player capable of taking the fight to those attempting to run through. She is a dedicated player, happy to chase any lost cause until the ball crosses the line. Her lack of physical strength may be her weakness however and she could be a potential target for more powerful strikers.

RB-Kevin Krychowiak-#13-Age 25-Matbirjke
Another promotion from the under 23s, Krychowiak is a typical modern full-back with his pace and attacking mindset. Having succeeded Dominik Illisevic as first-choice full-back last cycle, he will need to build on some shaky performances against the pace that the world has to offer if he is to retain his place on the teamsheet.

LM-Sophia Velezia-#16
A mazy winger with less raw pace, but the ability to turn any defender into a messy knot, Velezia is a constant challenge to keep quiet on her day and normally gets through at some point if she hits top form. Her mercurial nature is her biggest and arguably only weakness, but Mattijana will be well-placed if she can get it together.

CM-Marko Hojbjerg-#7

Now a mainstay of the team at the age of 28, Hojbjerg is a playmaker with good awareness and passing ability and is the perfect fit for Ljubanik's technical brand of football. Useful for connecting the more attacking players ahead of him, he is also integral in providing the start or the killer pass in a counter-attack. When no forward options are available, he's not afraid to hit one and occasionally finds the back of the net from improbable ranges.

CM-Katarina Jakupovic-#15
Former captain of Mattijana’s under-23 side, Jakupovic is a part of Vukoja’s turn to a more attractive style with Jago Adrianov, the midfield enforcer out and the instinctive passer promoted to a starting role. The 26 year-old Snezn player has impressed with both her technique and maturity in the early years of her career and is touted as a future Mattijanan captain after a successful run in the Under-23s.

RM-Jessika Struna-#9

A pacey winger who's preferred play is to make a run and then a cross, the 29 year old Struna is a dynamic and different part of the Mattijanan team. Tipped for a move to Petrovijanka or Burges, Struna chose to stay at Revinka, close to her family and in the town she loves.

CAM-Mattias Hoffman-#8-Age 27-Rapid Petrovijanka
Hoffman established himself as an impact player during the 79th cycle, scoring twice from the bench and making a substitute appearance in 15 of the 18 games. He offers a dynamic and direct approach when required and has cut open tired defences on a number of occasions. His consistency across longer periods has so far kept him out of the first team, but he remains a very useful and versatile player for Vukoja.

FW- Kara Lorenzič, age 25, Matbirjke

With Mathilde Lekarisa departing the Mattijanan setup in favour of the warmer climes of Saint Émelie, Matbirjken youngster Kara Lorenzič has been thrown into the starting line up for Mattijana. The pacey, direct forward was introduced on numerous occasions during World Cup qualifying and played reasonably well, offering a threat from the incisive through balls of the midfield and the testing low crosses of her wingers. Despite that, she is still young and the shoes of record scorer Lekarisa are big ones to fill.

The Bench:
GK-Matej Handanović-#1
The 32 year old Mattijanan number 1 plays under Matej Ljubanik at FK Petrovijanka and has been a solid, if unspectacular option between the sticks for most of his career. He has good handling skills and makes few mistakes, but could be replaced if he fails to make the spectacular stops expected of him. He may also face renewed competition from the younger and more dynamic Martin Vaskaric.

RB-Dominik Illisević-#5

Now a regular for FK Puljanka, Illisević is a punchy and pacey player with outstanding fitness and good crossing ability. His defensive technique is the biggest question mark, but if he can have a solid match at the back, he will undoubtedly be a danger coming forward.

CB-Ana Sevastova-#27-Age 23-FK Snezn

Young north-easterner Sevastova is the stereotypical centre-back from her region. Tall, strong and tough as ice, she has worked her way into the starting line-up at Snezn and with the retirement of Edvard Crajasovic, has now earned herself a call-up to the national side. Provided Illicic and Burnisevic remain fit and reasonable in form, she probably won't make too many appearances this cycle, but is certainly one for the future.

LM-Sofiane Bisrali-#6
From the less familiar setting of Shalkar in the South-East, Bisrali has the pace and skill that Vukoja is looking for in his wingers. Replacing the mercurial Sophia Velezia in the starting line-up, the 25 year old has a lot to live up to early in his career, but has the chance to do it on the biggest stage.

CAM-Juliana Kjofmann-#22-Age 27-Weststrand FK

Kjofmann, heralding from the windy climes of the Mattijanan west coast, has learned how to play with the ball on the deck and has made her strengths count at local team WestStrand. She might not pull off all her passes, but the ones she gets right will be enough to cause problems for any opposing defence.

FW-Andreas Weiss-#11

The 33 year old Burges Striker has been a fixture in the Mattijanan team for a while now and has matched his performances for the national side with consistent scoring form for FK Burges. He is a poacher with the ability to be in the right place at the right time for any pull-back into the box. Also a good header of the ball, Weiss will be an intimidating target for high crosses if the Mattijanan plan-B is needed.

ST-Daniella Alaba-#18-Age 29-Puljanka
It is difficult to tell where Alaba's strengths really lie as she is relatively quick, but not lightening fast and despite good strength, she is no match for more bulky defenders. Where she is effective is as a goal poacher, using positioning to find space to latch onto crosses and loose balls from fairly close range.

The Reserves:

GK-Martin Vaskaric-#19-Age 24-FK Antalja
LB-Lara Ljunavic-#20-Age 30-FK Revinka
CM-Jasmina Kovac-#24-Age 22-Ljubala FK
FW-Matej Jokic-#26-Age 21- FK SavaFluss

About Mattijana!

Mattijana is a large safe nation in Esportiva with a significant, but proportionate population. It spans a fairly large range of climates with the far north a colder area, the central region temperate, the south Mediteranean and the South-East semi-desert. Petrovijanka, the setting for this competition, is located almost exactly in the centre of the country at 214-232 metres above sea level. It has summer highs of around 28°C and lows of -5°C in the winter. There is a high level of sunshine for most of the year with precipitation mostly snowfall in the winter months.

Culturally, Mattijana can also be divided into six regions. The West of the country is largely Germanic whilst the centre North is a mix of Slavic and Germanic cultures, centred around Mattijana's second city, Burges. The North and East are more Scandinavian and speak Dansk, a language similar to Danish. The Centre (where Petrovijanka is situated) and the South are Slavic (similar to the Slovenian and Croatian cultures). There is an Arabic community in the South-East.

All Mattijanans speak the official language, Mattijanan. However, due to this not being spoken anywhere else in the World, English and German are well-spoken throughout the country whilst Arabic is taken on by the most intelligent students (in addition to English and German) as well as by those in the South-East.
There is no official religion in Mattijana due to this mix of cultures. Islam is popular in the South-East and parts of the South whilst some in the East follow the Mattijanan Orthodox church. Most people hold no religious belief, but believe in the universal philosophy of being kind, welcoming and helpful to others, known nationally as Jelenara. Even in religious communities, it is these principals that are most talked of with religious figures used to preach them.
Due to the mix/match nature of Mattijanan cultures and these philosophies, religious symbols are uncommon and religious tolerance is very high.

Attitudes to drink and sex are fairly liberal whilst there is good gender, sexual and racial equality. Social mobility is also good and the rich earn only twice as much as the poorest. Cannabis and similar recreational drugs are banned by law, with cannabis also forbidden for medical use.

The government follows mildly socialist policies meaning the tax rate is fairly high, but schools, hospitals and other public services are all well-funded and either free or reasonably-priced. Taxes on large businesses are higher than on small ones. The government building is the MattiStaja, which is situated on Staja square in the centre of Petrovijanka. All six regions have their own smaller congresses however. Politicians are generally appreciated and although public decisions are limited to elections and important political decisions where the main population is the most affected, most citizens feel well represented due to the numerous meeting and discussion opportunities with their local politician.
All parties follow a similar philosophy, but mainly disagree on where to fund the most. The MattijanaLeušaBuro is the current elected party and have an emphasis on public services, but other popular parties are the ViroBuro (who generally promote the needs of the environment) and the NašinalBuro (who promote funding for employment opportunities).

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

OFFICIAL CUP OF HARMONY 76 ROSTER

Starters:
GK: #1- Ryan McNamara (26, Tundra Falls Mariners) *** INJURED, NOT PLAYING ***
– A taller keeper that prefers to rely on instincts. Is often aggressive towards the shooter, and this has seen him have success, especially while at the Proving Grounds. He is not as successful in road games, but is still considered the best keeper in the nation and is coming off a decent campaign, considering the low expectations..

LB: #2- Tim Marley (28, Jessicaville Millionaires)
– An average frame, but an overall high work ethic. Very good with his overall positioning, and is not often going to be faked out by an opponent. Though he can be outmuscled.

LCB: #4- Scott Corellis (28, Pocono City Capitals)
– Complements Marley in that he is the strength on the left side of the defense. That is the thought process anyway, because these two have never actually played together before.

RCB: #5- Adrian O’Bryan (31, Loudon Leopards)
– An intelligent defender, but sometimes a little too overconfident. While he knows the game very well, and is very studious when watching game tape in preparation, he trusts himself a little too much.

RB: #3- Shawn Stoddard (26, Centralia Firebirds)
– While Corellis is a strong player, Stoddard is the most physical of the group. He will not be shy to be aggressive towards the opponent and figures to lead the club in bookings. A fan favorite in Centralia.

LM: #8- Jorge Cortez (27, Pocono City Capitals)
– Excellent two way player, that will both score goals and be one of the first ones back to defend. He has very good chemistry at home with Scott Corellis, and it should be expected that they will hook up once or twice for a goal.

CM: #9- Tyrone Vannella (29, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
– Has blazing speed and a ton of talent. Unfortunately, he is also known to be an arrogant player, and some players on the team might not be thrilled he is on the team. He’ll be the last one to show up at practice, and the first to leave. Not a fan friendly player, either.

RM: #12- Jarrell Connolly (27, Putnam Lake Eagles)
– Playing in Putnam Lake, where soccer is the most popular within Newmanistan, Connolly has a lot of pressure on him. Thankfully, he has always been able to handle that. He’s played with Vannella before, and despite their differing personalities, they have been known to play well together.

LS: #10- Brent Chapman (25, Tundra Falls Mariners)
– Has a hard shot and is very accurate with it. He’s not going to do much else for the team, though. Can be beaten by a strong defender.

ST: #15- Jerome Beyer (28, South Charlotte Condors)
– An astute passer, Beyer will be looking to set up either Chapman or Schaefer, or another Rocket more then he will be looking to put shots on goal himself. Very creative with the ball and getting by defenders.

RS: #11- Derek Schaefer (27, Southport Tigers)
– Figures to be the team leader in goals. While Chapman has a harder and more accurate shot, Schaefer has more overall skill that will allow him to get more shots on net. He’s no slouch with his shot power or accuracy either, though.

Regular Substitutes:
GK: #21- Aaron Scarpa (31, North Charlotte Wildcats) *** STARTING GOALKEEPER ***
CB: #6- Calvin Douglas (28, South Tier Seagulls)
CB: #7- Thomas Caprotti (27, Loudon Leopards)
MID: #13- Dirk Donato (28, Dover City Mountaineers)
MID: #17- Samantha Paschke (30, Centralia Firebirds)
ST: #14- Jimmy Halligan (27, Jessicaville Millionaires)
ST: #16- Antonio Cruz (24, Penthoria Riverman)

Reserves:
GK: #25- Jesse Gallant (28, Olympia Gladiators)
CB: #22- Neil Blades (20, North Charlotte Wildcats)
CB: #23- Eli Watson (26, Brighton Bulls)
MID: #18- Peyton McLeod (26, Nashua Broncos)
MID: #26- Saquon Shields (28, Loudon Leopards)
ST: #19- John Baker (27, Pocono City Capitals)
ST: #24- Shane Shuster (20, Daytopia Racers)

Manager- Miguel Hernandez (51, Jessicaville Millionaires)

Lisander National Football Team for Cup of Harmony - The National Eleven

Ok, there we go again ...
Leading Article, Carolina Hanwill, to The National
Adrian Stannis, new president of FLF, have the ambition to guide Lisander Football to a new age of glory. But he made it to the top of the Federation at a difficult time. Association Football, which has always been a fairly prominent sport, has lost many fans to basketball and worryingly to rugby as well. In the past, each sport had its own faithful fan base, but the advent of international competitions and the new professional leagues made football lose ground. "While it is harder and more expensive to establish sports like Cricket, Rugby and Field Hockey, at a high cost, on the other hand, the smaller number of nations playing these sports makes it easier for national teams in these sports." Stannis said recently in an interview for BFOOTBALL.

Football, an international passion, is played under virtually any conditions, and there are always more than 150 nations registering for each World Cup. Not participating in the event is practically isolating the nation from the footballing world. Under the baton of Alfred Delmas, the former FLF president, Lisander has taken many steps backwards. Although Lisander made excellent campaigns in the WCs 80 (when the team reached the Play-offs against South Covello) and 82 (when the team was only one win away from the Play-offs), the disorganization of the federation managed to destroy all this effort, and the National now sits in a shameful 130th place in the rankings. So the only choice is taking the oars and rowing everything back in the rankings, first to the 59th place we had at the end of WC80, and then as much as possible forward.

"What about the team?" you ask me. I answer: It's the same as IAC 8 and Wonder Cup. Andreas Fox haven't called the youngsters to Wonder Cup, and isn't calling them to World Cup. He wants to give the veterans time to play. It could be the last chance for some of them, like Luis Avila and Arthur Adler. "It's time to think football in the right age. If the new policy is keeping the youngsters in their own categories, we're going over 23 this time."

Uniform
Neo hasn't produced new uniforms for Lisander. The Nation keeps the WC82 uniform.
