Forces loyal to Nazim al-Qutayni overthrow Aboud.

Nazim al-Qutayni addressed the nation from Adunis,
swearing himself in as interim President as he prepares the country for elections.

Adunis, Adunis Province - Military and police forces loyal to the former Minister of the Interior, Nazim al-Qutayni, have seized Adunis from Yayha al-Aboud and his supporters. What some are calling a coup d'état was reported as troop movements earlier this morning by some civilians, with immense confusion causing some in the city to speculate that Aboud had called in reinforcements to wrestle control of the city.

At around 11:47 this morning, minor skirmishes broke out in the city as riot police clashed with forces loyal to al-Aboud. The police have long be speculated and thought of to have loyalty to the former minister, and several officers were seen storming a military suppression of protesters to the aid of the civilians. Several of the officers were seen with PID insignia on their riot shields or vehicles at this time and one officer in particular said that "Aboud was a corrupt pig with no honour. Al-Qutayni and the PID are the only hope for this country to prosper."

Numerous elements of the army and navy were involved in the coup, with armoured brigades driving down the old city's roads for the first time in over forty years. Despite being supposed forces of liberation, many have expressed online the 'horrors' such imagery displays. One commentator wrote that "look how far the nation has fallen". Others have said that "democracy has died in Tsabara." However, supporters of the PID have said this is the army's right as per "the constitution of Tsabara."

General Elyounoussi, a supporter of Nazim al-Qutayni, who was instrumental in the overthrowing of the Aboud regime this morning, addressed the nation in a televised address: "The Constitution of Tsabara was illegally suspended. It is the duty of the army, the vanguard of democracy in this country, to defend it against tyranny and injustice. We have facilitated a return to democracy in this nation and have reverted it from a tyrannical dictatorial oligarchy of Aboud and his wings of the National Irfanic Party to a representative democracy. We have done our part. This is not a coup. Aboud's government was not legitimate. Now the fate of our nation rests in the hands of the people, as acting-President al-Qutayni prepares the nation for elections. Rejoice; for there is no war in Adunis."

By 13:19 the House of Representatives was stormed by combined elements of the police and the military. 23 members of Aboud's National Irfanic Party were injured whilst resisting arrest whilst the fate of Yayha al-Aboud is currently unknown. He was last heard delivering a live-streamed message across the nation at around 13:30, before a combination of small and large arms fire was heard near his vicinity and the stream was cut off.

Whilst numerous engagements continued in the city, including sieges of several military outposts and police stations, the forces loyal to Nazim and the PID declared 'incontestable victory' at 14:03. By 17:00, the fighting in the city was reported to have ended with many of Aboud's forces either having fled or surrendering under promises of amnesty by Nazim's troops.

Nazim al-Qutayni was declared acting president by the military, in accordance with several aspects of the duties of the 'secular vanguard of democracy' that the military upholds. His temporary inauguration was televised, live-streamed and radio'd across the nation. In it, the former Minister of the Interior called on the nation:

"The tyrant and his usurpers have been deposed. There is no longer a suspension of the constitution. Order shall be restored and the cosocial state shall be saved and upheld. There shall no longer be a suppression of protests or a banning of sensible parties that support the Federation. The APP is absolved of the false sins subscribed to it by Yayha al-Aboud. I call on the APP to no longer talk this threat of secession; there is nothing to gain. The strength of the cosocial state rests in our unity. Brother shall no longer spill the blood of brother under the guise of a tyrant aiming to elevate one ethnicity over the other. I call on the nation to lay down its arms. Our Federation is not under threat from within. It is the radicals in Zorasan who wish to destabilise this nation, who have direct benefit in claiming long lost territory in the south. Rally to the Constitution in this time of crisis. Do not let the temptation of those telling you that the grass is greener taint your perceptions, don't let the hate of the 'villain of a different creed' deter you."

The final line of his address was a call for unity and patriotism, as the nation would "go to the polls in a presidential election in due time."

Protests and insurrections have continued across the country however, especially as forces loyal to the Aboud regime rally to his ousting. Some are burning pictures or straw statues of Nazim, calling him an "Atudite lapdog" whilst several Atudite extremists are criticising him as an "Aboud in the shadows." Some have demanded to see "proof of Aboud's life", claiming he was "killed in a power ploy" as several of his ministers have been arrested themselves. Others fled the capital including the deputy premier and minister of defence, who are suspected to have travelled to Zorasan to form a government in exile. Members of the military loyal to Aboud such as General Dajini have retreated due east, to territories with high Badawiyan population and loyalty to the NIR and the firebrand cleric Salah.

Even with the change in government, many of members of the House of Representatives have yet to return. Representatives from the APP, P&E and numerous other parties have expressed their "immense concern" with the "instability of Adunis". Kahlon has stated that "The APP wont sit unti lwe are assured of the legitimacy of the words of Nazim al-Qutayni." Despite this apparent distrust, it is known that several Atudite units of the Tsabaran Army did assist Nazim's loyalists in ousting Yayha al-Aboud.

BREAKING: The Acting President has confirmed in a late night address that his predecessor was indeed killed. "Mr. Aboud did not comply with the surrender demand put forward by the police and soldiers who took control of this city back from him and is reported to have fired back at the troops with his loyalists. From his body two small pistols were recovered. The soldiers, however, were under explicit orders from all of the hierarchy and Generals present to ensure his survival. Due to their failure, they shall be reprimanded. Mr. Aboud's refusal to surrender was not just cause for his death as we intended on giving him a fair trial in compliance with the constitution."

Hundreds of thousands rally against Interim President Nazim al-Qutayni

Hundreds of thousands rallied in Imam Ardashir Park in the southern city of Hitteen.

Hitteen, Qadessiyya Province - Over 300,000 people took to the streets in Hiteen to condemn last week’s coup which saw the overthrow of the National Irfanic Party and the death of acting president, Yahya Aboud. The protests saw many speakers including major figures in the League of the Righteous, which has sought to coalesce anti-Nazim elements in the east and south. The protests come as Acting President Al-Qutayni formed his emergency government and legalised the Atudite People’s Party.

In scenes that will cause concern within Nazim Al-Qutayni’s emergency government, over 300,000 people took to the streets of Sidi Amar to condemn the military action that led to the overthrow of the National Irfanic Party and acting president Yahya Aboud. The city’s Imam Ardashir Park was overflowing with people who waved anti-Nazim and anti-Atudite banners. Large numbers of people also waved the red-white-black banner of Pan-Irfanism, a widespread trend in the predominately Arta Irfanic east and south, as the banner is widely known as a pro-Zorasan symbol.

The protest was organised by the League of the Righteous, the nation-wide Irfanic civil society group, formed by the controversial populist cleric, Sheik Faizan Salah in 2014. The LR was close to the late president Atwan al-Tughluq and many of its members were also politicians with the National Irfanic Party. President al-Tughluq’s premier and the late Yahya Aboud, was a prominent member of the LR, serving as its Under-Secretary for Beytol Relations between 2014 and 2016.

During the mass protest, numerous LR and NIP figures addressed the crowd, while the protesters chanted, “down with Nazim”, “your demise is our victory” and “Adunis for all Irfani.”

Governor of Qadessiyya, Yousef al-Benyan told the crowds, “the blood of our brothers stains the hands of Nazim and his conspirators. The blood of true believers and the servants of God stain the floors and streets of Adunis. Let those butchers know, they are not our leaders.”

The governors of Ain Djasser, Juraynah and Hassani Abdelkrim were also present on stage. Mahmad Saleh (AD), Muqtada Abdelqadr (JR) and Hussein al-Said (HA) each took turns to condemn the new government in Adunis, with Governor Abdelqadr describing Nazim as a “lover of Atudites and a slave to Euclea.” The three governors alongside Governor al-Benyan announced to the crowds that they would be forming an “emergency regional council” to coordinate their provinces’ official response to the coup.

Other speakers included several NIP senators who fled Adunis in wake of the coup, while General Hadir Salah, the former Minister of Defence and hardline opponent of the Lions appeared for the first time since the coup. General Salah is the highest ranking official to survive the coup and holds significant sway over large parts of the Badawiyan sections of the Federal Armed Forces.

He told the crowd, “what happened in Adunis was a crime and an act of war against the destiny of Tsabara. It was a declaration of war against millions of pious and patriotic Badawiyans. If the Lions started it, Nazim and his cowardly allies have escalated it. Now is the time for us to strike back at our enemies”, drawing loud cheers from the audience.

Adding further concern were unconfirmed reports that the governors of Bedjene and Ain Yagout were among the crowd, if confirmed it would mean that the provincial leaders of six provinces were present an anti-government rally.

The climax of the rally came with a speech by Sheik Faizan Salah himself, in which he said, “our beloved President Atwan Al-Tughluq lays dead, slain by those who slay Sotirias. Now, our beloved Premier lays dead, slain by his and our supposed brothers.”

“The pro-imperialist elements of Tsabara have decimated our leaders, they have decimated our movement toward a true Tsabara, one promised to us by God. One promised to us, that if ours would tilt the scales of judgement toward salvation over damnation. They, the Atudites, the Takfiris among us and the Euclean imperialists seek to deny Irfani salvation, but they seek also our oppression and dispossession.

“Our mission is not yet changed, but the ground has changed. We face the greatest threat to our freedoms and liberties as Badawiyans and as Irfani since the Atudites and the Colonists came together to rule as minority dictators. We must resist, we must resist the Atudite, the Takfiri and the Euclean if we are to remain free” he said.

“Nazim al-Qutayni is a murderer and a false idol. He is not my president, he will never be my president and God’s will, he will be thrown out and brought to justice” Sheik Salah further said.

A worrying development

The response by the thousands in the east and south will no doubt ring alarm bells in Adunis. Even as Nazim al-Qutayni rebuilds the presidential office both physically and metaphorically, he now faces significant opposition in large tracts of the country and the population. His decision to authorise allies in the military and law enforcement to violently overthrow Yahya Aboud and the National Irfanic Party has led to a vitriolic debate and a major change in the national crisis.

The unconfirmed reports that six provincial heads, collectively representing half the country and 17.1 million citizens, were present at the rally, alongside major figures from the NIP and Federal Army who fled the capital, will be most troubling. The presence of General Hadir Salah on stage with Sheik Faizan Salah (no relation) will burn in the minds of the acting president’s allies and even those within the Atudite People’s Party. General Salah is holds hefty influence among large parts of the Federal Army, while Sheik Salah has emerged as a major political actor with millions of followers across Badawiyan-Tsabara.

As one Atudite official in the Federal Security Service noted under the condition anonymity, “while the coup may have averted an Atudite breakaway from an NIP-government, its pushed half the country away. Sheik Salah is a dangerous man, his popular, influential and is coalescing equally influential and powerful figures around him. We could see a resumption of violence and chaos, this time led by a broad Badawiyan Irfanic movement.”

Mahmoud Sadr, a close associate of the acting president tweeted, “we praise the bold action against a wannabe dictator, but the man’s death [Yahya Aboud] has only set in motion a new phase in our troubles.”

Another figure close to Al-Qutayni said, “the coup has left the government in complete disarray, we have no idea what is going on in the east. The acting president is aware, and we are working to restore calm across all Tsabara.”

Rebuilding the government and trust

Since the coup last week, acting president Nazim al-Qutayni has moved quickly to “rebuild the government and trust” according to his spokesman. Since the coup, the acting president has called for a government of national unity, legalising the Atudite People’s Party and his own, Party for Irfanic Democracy. He’s appointed key allies to his cabinet, including Atudite and Sotirian technocrats.

Samir Machoun, a Sotirian-Badawiyan has been appointed Minister of Finance, while, Yinon Amir, a former leader of the APP has been appointed Special Advisor, to assist in the development of reforms aiming at restoring and empowering the cosocial system.

This morning, the government announced it was inviting the Atudite Peoples’ Party into discussions to “find a solution to the crisis that has gripped our country. We want to bring peace for elections, we cannot have elections in times of violence. We must come together to find mutually beneficial solutions for our country”, his spokesman told reporters. Acting President al-Qutayni then spent much of the afternoon talking to foreign leaders, assuring them of the situation and calling for their support in his efforts to stabilise Tsabara.

Nazim al-Qutayni before TV cameras yesterday restored the constitution and civil liberties, while announcing, “immediate action will be taken to restore unity to our armed forces and law enforcement. We will not see a repeat of Sfira, because we will come out of this crisis as one nation and one people once again.”

BREAKING Government of National Unity formed by Interim President

Adunis, Adunis Province - Interim President Nazim al-Qutayni has formed a “national unity government” with the Atudite People’s Party and the Sotirian Democratic Party, to “ease the means of rehabilitating the nation.” The move guarantees the interim government a majority in the Grand Assembly but has provoked wide condemnation from the National Irfanic Party and the League of the Righteous.

In a move aimed at “promoting calm and peace”, interim president Nazim al-Qutayni has successfully secured the backing of the APP and SDP in forming a unity government with his Party for Irfanic Democracy. This was preceded by agreements by National Union, Freedom and Justice, and the People’s Democratic Party to join the new government.

In a meeting with reporters following talks, interim president al-Qutayni said, “today is the first day in the journey toward rebuilding our country, restoring trust and democracy and rebuilding our society. Through this unity government, together, all peoples of Tsabara will move forward to developing a new constitution worthy of our cohabitation.”

He said further, “this unity government will move to ease the situation so that elections can take place. We will work at the same time to draw up a new constitution, one that reinforces our shared rights and ensures that our country is held tighter together.”

Under the agreement, APP leader, Aryeh Kahlon will serve as Interim Deputy President and head a new body tasked with writing a new constitution, while Bechir Helou, the leader of the SDP, will serve as Interim Deputy President and Minister of the Interior. The government is expected to be reshuffled to better represent the parties of the unity government.

Many have welcomed the new development, with several commentators praising the actions of interim president Nazim al-Qutayni since the controversial coup last week.

Former president, Salim Hwari said, “he may well have taken power through violence, which we will come to address in the future, but so far, Nazim al-Qutayni has proven highly adept and successful in bringing some calm to our country.”

Surena Ali, the head of the Tsabara Human Rights Watch also praised the government saying, “at last a leader who works for freedom, liberty and interests of all Tsabarans.”

However, the announcement of the unity government has further enflamed tensions with the Eastern provinces and the League of the Righteous.

In a speech uploaded online, Sheik Faizan Salah condemned the new government saying, “the true face of our enemy has come to view. Takfiris, Atudites and Sotirians united in their pursuit of oppression and tyranny against the Irfani. This false president is only further condemning himself by joining up with enemies of Badawiyans all over.”

Anti-government protests have continued across the east, with marches in Hitteen, Sidi Amar, Beit Shajaf and Lazrou.

Interim Premier, Aslan Ocalan issued a statement warning the eastern provincial governments, “while opposition to the change of government is to be expected, no provincial government or group should be confused or doubtful in this government’s commitment to ensuring the territorial integrity or security of the nation.”

However, despite progress made since the coup, in restoring stability to large parts of the country, “large sections of the military have gone dark” according to Federal Army source. Many commanders and officers in the eastern and south-eastern defence sectors are refusing to communicate with military command in Adunis, while there are unconfirmed reports that unit commanders in the east have reportedly met with Sheik Salah.

Another source said, “units loyal to Atwan Al-Tughluq based in the east have gone silent, no one in military command or the government can get hold of officers or even foot soldiers. This is deeply troubling, since despite the political successes, the armed forces are incredibly fractured and divided.”

Concerns over the military’s cohesiveness were deepened this morning following the shooting and killing of Brigadier General Hassan Chaoun, a Sotirian officer based in the north of the country. He was reportedly shot dead by his aide-de-camp, a Major Abdullah al-Nasri. It was later revealed that Major al-Nasri was a regular attendee of League of the Righteous events at his local Beytol.

The military situation has led to calls for a widespread purge of pro-LR officers from the armed forces. Senior member of the PID, Samir Sabbalah told TBN News, “if we cannot secure unity in the armed forces, we all face the threat of insurrection or a counter-coup by extremists. We must remove dangerous officers from the armed forces.”

Oil and gas climb as Tsabaran government lurches
Investors reach for energy futures amid shortage fears

MONTECARA—Oil and gas futures prices reached a 52-week high Thursday as the political situation in Tsabara, the region's major energy player, remained uncertain. Crude oil was trading at Ł325.17 per barrel when the Borse closed, a 5.6% increase from just last week. Formation of the so-called Government of National Unity by interim president Nazim al-Qutayni seems to have done little to assuage the market's fears that political and military conditions in Tsabara will deteriorate further.

News of the unity government comes amid an exceptionally turbulent month for Tsabara. Seven provinces threatened to secede from the federation on 2 November, including Netanya, which shares a maritime border with Montecara. Then-acting president Yahya Aboud responded by declaring martial law and suspending the constitution on 5 November, prompting forces loyal to al-Qutayni to overthrow him two days later. Aboud was killed in the coup.

Many traders are betting on curtailed supplies and reduced productive capacity in the oil and gas industries heading into 2020. "Oil is not an industry that can make sharp turns," said Ivano Salmeri, a spokesman for Bànca Ultramarìn. "Once capacity is reduced, it it a time-consuming and expensive process to build it back up. There have already been enough interruptions in supply to suggest that it may be months or years before Tsabaran production is back to 100%."

Twin oil and gas pipelines run from Tsabara under Montecara to Florena and the rest of the Euclean Community. They supply nearly all of Montecara's fossil fuels and form the backbone of the energy supply in the eastern EC. If these pipelines were compromised, both Montecara and the EC would face an imminent energy crisis.

The Montecaran ambassador to Tsabara, Paòla Acotati, urged calm and restraint among the belligerent factions at a press conference on Friday morning. "Tsabara is in danger of stumbling into the worst humanitarian crisis on the planet. The Montecaran government supports all efforts made toward establishing a lasting peace," she said.

Xiaodong's huge interests in the Badawiyan nation are under threat from instability and its own allies

The death of two presidents, assumption of power of an interim government and threat of succession of Atudite provinces in Tsabara has dominated global headlines. Yet it has had an unexpected effect further south in Coius where the implications of these developments are still being processed.

In 2010, when visiting Adunis, then-premier Yuan Xiannian called the then-incumbent president of Tsabara Atwan al-Tughluq "an icon for a proud Badawiya and a strong Coius". This visit, the first of a Xiaodongese leader since the fall of the Tsabaran socialist regime that ruled the country from 1948 to 1986, was accompanied with a massive effort by Xiaodong to fully integrate Tsabara into Xiaodong's "grand strategy" - a re-direction of global supply lines and economic links from Euclea to southern Coius.

Tsabara had already been a member of the International Forum for Developing States, the cartel of developing countries led by Xiaodong and Zorasan that aims to increase mutual investment mostly in the form of massive infrastructure projects and tariff reduction agreements mainly in the realm of natural resources. Yet in the past decade Xiaodong has expanded its interests in Tsabara - not only is the country now an associate of the Rongzhuo Strategic Protocol Organisation but has also since 2009 received €24 billion in Xiaodongese foreign direct investment, particularly in the natural gas sector. The ultimate aim of a energy pipeline stretching from southern Xiaodong to northern Tsabara seemed to be a realistic possibility, binding a large part of Coius into the Xiao-Zorasani economic bloc and potentially making inroads in southern Euclea.

This huge economic and strategic interest in Tsabara was predicated on the idea that al-Tughluq's mixture of Ifranic populism and political pragmatic would maintain its popularity whilst the Atudite population - oft-criticised due to their former rule as a dominant but repressive minority in the 1930's and 1940's - would gradually either fade in their political power or align with anti-Euclean interests alongside the Ifranic population. In 2014 State Chairman Jiang Zhongyu named Tsabara as one of Xiaodong's most promising allies and that Xiaodong aimed to integrate Tsabara into a "continental system based on respect for sovereignty, prosperity and development".

The recent political developments in Tsabara have thrown this strategy into disarray. Al-Tughluq was Xiaodong's favoured partner - a man who shared Rongzhuo's mixture of anti-colonialism paired with anti-socialism whilst being a tough pragmatist able to maintain power for over 14 years. His death was viewed with alarm in the International Relations ministry who worried al-Tughluq's successor - his bellicose prime minister Yahya al-Aboud - would push the country into destabilisation. Yet even after al-Aboud critic Nazim al-Qutayni was given a warrant for an arrest premier Xi Yao-tong stated that if the procedure was legal under Tsabaran law Xiaodong would not comment on the matter. Sheik Faizan Salah, a hardliner cleric and critic of al-Qutayni, received ample coverage in Xiaodongese media which sought to desperately highlight the popularity of the al-Aboud government. The declaration of martial law in Tsabara was portrayed in the state-owned Xiaodong Observer as an "administrative procedure intended to shore up national unity against Euclean-backed agitators and saboteurs". Protesters were described as "rioters" and Atudite secessionists "colonial terrorists".

In a prepared statement last month Vice-Premier Jiang Shaohong stated that the instability in Tsabara was "motivated by the hand of foreign governments intent on destabilising the region for their own interest", an echo of Zorasani First Minister Farzad Akbari.

The seizure of power by former Interior Minister Nazim al-Qutayni has changed the equation yet again. The Xiaodongese government likely hoped that the new president would seek national reconciliation whilst still cracking down on Atudite separatists. The announcement of a national unity government with the extremist Atudite People’s Party (APP) has caused deep mistrust in the new administration in Rongzhuo.

The new situation in Tsabara has deeply split the Xiaodongese government into two camps regarding policy on Tsabara. The first camp are the "intergrationists" who believe first and foremost in the political and economic stability of Tsabara. These politicians prioritise the deep economic investments and ties to Tsabaran policy-makers Xiaodong has cultivated in the last two decades and seek to use this economic leverage to ensure al-Qutayni's government maintains cordial relations with Rongzhuo, seeing him however imperfect as the best source for stability in the troubled country.

The other faction are the "interventionists" who heavily supported the al-Aboud government. Since the announcement of the national unity government and the suspected links Atudite separatists have to Euclean policymakers these politicians have lost faith in al-Qutayni and support Xiaodong and Zorasan to make more bullish moves in ensuring an anti-Euclean government comes to power in Adunis.

Neither Yuan Xiannian nor Xi Yao-tong have played their hand yet, although both are believed to be working closely with Zahedan to formulate a solution. In the meantime the majority of Xiaodongese direct investments in Tsabara have either been put on hold or completely abandoned due to the unfavourable conditions for business in the country since the death of al-Tughluq as well as increased the mechanisms of control over the final use of the credit issued to Adunis. Currently, Xiaodong seems to be reassessing its options and shoring up its economic position in Tsabara to perhaps shape its future direction - but with events moving so fast such a policy may be anachronistic.

Al-Qutayni deploys troops to Qadessiyya, Juraynah, Hassani Abdelkrim and the urban centres of Aïn Djasser

Nazim al-Qutayni addressed the nation from Adunis,
swearing himself in as interim President as he prepares the country for elections.

Kufayrat Abu Khinan, Juraynah Province - Following increasing protests and riots in the east of the country, the acting-President has ordered the deployment of military forces loyal to him to 'keep the peace' and to 'ensure the peaceful nature of the protests.'

The radical cleric known as Sheik Salah increased the intensity of the protests in these areas following the recent 'landslide victory' of the new Zorasani 'True Way' party. Its immense success, garnering 501 seats of a legislature of 580 and a mandate of 60.6 million voters. Their victory, the Irfanic cleric said, could "be replicated in Tsabara", in attempts to unite "all of those opposed to Euclean Imperialism and those who would favour one religion, that of the Atudites, over the rest."

The acting-president announced that the troops would be deployed following numerous instances and reports of destruction of property and violence emerging from the protesters. Their alleged activities included attacking police forces and by-standards, circling Atudite centres of worship and threatening the worshippers within. He decried these attacks as "against the very fabrications of the cosocial union" and demanded that the cleric cease his provocations, as "elections had been set for the next year."

Sheik Salah refused to respond to a government he deemed illegitimate, and thus, Irfanic troops of the Tsabaran Army have been deployed to Qadessiyya, Juraynah, Hassani Abdelkrim and the urban centres of Aïn Djasser. There have already been reports of clashes in Hitteen in Qadessiyya, a place of key support for the cleric. However, in other cities the troops have overseen a re-transition of the protests into peaceful, respectful manifestations of democracy.

In recent weeks, troop presence and deployment has increased all across Tsabara. Government property and vital services for infrastructure have been increasingly on alert. Furthermore, and quite shockingly, trains travelling Tsabaran sections of the 'Adunis-Mambiza Railway' have been staffed with military personnel following numerous leaked threats of attacking, what is arguably, the world's most important rail line.

The message presented by these large scale troop deployments, which have included armour in some cases, is that the acting-president is not backing down to the threats proposed by Cleric Salah. His message rings clear on the news outlets and through his speeches, that it is the cleric -- not he -- who wishes to destabilise the Federation. A key piece from a recent speech by Nazim said the following: "I have set forth the resources, time and preparations for elections -- for democracy to resume. He is divisive, angry and calling on imitation from Zorasan. Do not listen to his radicalism."

The cleric, as aforementioned, has refused to respond to the demands and requests of the government to come to sit at the table, largely in part that a large portion of Salah's allies and followers believe that Nazim al-Qutayni coup'd a legitimate government, not an authoritarian coup d'etat itself.

Sheik Salah denounces deployment of "mercenaries" as violence escalates

Kufayrat Abu Khinan, Juraynah Province - Sheik Faizan Salah has denounced the deployment of federal forces to the eastern provinces as a “declaration of tyranny against those who simply desire a better life.” He made the comments in a video posted online. He also called on the citizens of the eastern provinces to continue “resisting peacefully against this violation of our liberty.” His comments came as 11 federal soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb attack in the city of Hitteen.

Interim President Nazim Al-Qutayni’s earlier decision to deploy soldiers to the eastern provinces of Qadessiya, Juraynah, Hassani Abdelkarim and Ain Djasser initially saw some success in quieting down anti-government protests. However, their prolonged presence and agitation by groups linked to Sheik Salah have seen a resurgence of violence and mass protest.

In response, the Sheik, who leads the League of the Righteous and the de-facto coalition of anti-Qutayni politicians in the east, condemned the deployment in a speech posted online. The Sheik decried the interim government saying, “this government which is criminal, murderous and without honour or legitimacy now deploys troops against its own people.”

“These soldiers are loyal to the usurper in Adunis, not the Tsabaran people. They are mercenaries and they’ve been charged with our oppression” he said further.

The sheik went on to call on citizens of the provinces to resist “peacefully and loudly.”

“We can and we must drive these mercenaries off our streets. But we must do so peacefully and calmly. Let our roars and chants be our weapons, let our labour being denied be our sword and gun. Let the usurper know he cannot bully us into submission” he told supporters.

Despite the populist cleric’s calls for peaceful protest, much of the scenes in the provinces turned markedly violent over the past two days.

In Hitteen, 11 soldiers were killed and 22 injured when their convoy was struck by a suspected roadside bomb. The incident marks the first time an explosive device had been used in this way.

The Ministry of Homeland Defence has launched an investigation, with acting minister of defence, Issa al-Tani telling reporters this morning, “an explosive device was used against soldiers of the Federal Government in the Al-Bakr district of Hitteen this morning. Sadly, 11 soldiers were killed. We have launched a major investigation and will bring these terrorists to justice.”

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, however, social media in the provinces has been awash with comments referring to a group known as Al-Isbah, literally, The Awakened.

In other cities in the east, hundreds of thousands took to the streets to protest the military deployments and the interim government, which many in the east consider to be illegitimate.

In Sidi Amar, thousands took to the streets before engaging in running street battles with riot police. Several government buildings were set ablaze by protesters, including the Federal Office for the Province of Hassani Abdelkarim. Similar attacks on government buildings were reported in Juraynah and even as far west as Trifaoui Province.

Concerns over the direction of the crisis have spread to the markets, where the indication is that Tsabara is on verge of entering a sharp recession. The calls for strikes in the east has placed major oil fields under threat of strike action, while protesters in Ain Djasser have taken to blocking roads to oil tankers.

The governor of Ain Djasser, Abdullah Assad has reportedly cut off all communication with the federal government while reportedly withdrawing the provincial police off the streets.

In Qadessiyya Province, Governor Farouk al-Badri told an emergency session of the provincial assembly that “our home, our province is now under occupation.” He is reportedly considering presenting a vote before the assembly officially condemning the military deployment. In the 2016 provincial elections, the pro-Sheik Salah, National Irfanic Party won every seat in the assembly. Qadessiyya is a major stronghold of the League of the Righteous.

Interim Premier, Aslan Ocalan told reporters that “the government is intent on restoring order and peace across all Tsabara. Our patience is running out, yet, we are still urging Sheik Salah to recognise his responsibility as a major national figure to come together with the government. We are willing to work with him to alleviate the problems facing his supporters.”

The interim government is reportedly under immense pressure from some circles in the west, to issue an arrest warrant for Sheik Faizan Salah. Many in the Party for Irfanic Democracy and even the Atudite People’s Party believe that Sheik Salah is a significant threat to “national security.”

Government launches major civil service purge

Zahedan, Union Capital Territory- The Union Government has instigated a widespread purge of the civil service to “clean the system of corrupt elements.” At least 1,200 officials have been removed from their positions across all major federal ministries, agencies and departments.

In what is the first major action of the new True Way dominated government, thousands of civil servants suspected of being “corrupt or criminally linked” have been removed from their positions, in what is becoming the largest purge of state officials since the founding of the Union in 1980. Most of those removed were previously employed in the “Four Pillar Ministries”, the Interior, Foreign, Finance and National Defence.

Many of those removed appear to be low to mid-level officials, while it has since been confirmed that several long serving Under-Secretaries have been removed. Those include six under-secretaries at the Interior, Foreign and Defence ministries. According to sources inside the government, these six under-secretaries have been replaced by officers from the military’s National Political Cadre Command. The NPCC has been known as a major source of military officials who are transferred to work in the political field.

The former Under-Secretary for the Near-Region at the Foreign Ministry, Hassan Alijani was removed after 26 years for reportedly selling foreign policy information to foreign companies. He has reportedly been replaced by his deputy.

While the four major ministries have seen significant losses, Education has reportedly seen up to 400 officials removed.

The judiciary also saw losses, with half of the Judicial Appointments Board removed and replaced with lower-ranking judges.

The Union Government’s spokesman defended the purges in a press conference, “it is necessary in recognition of the recent transformation of our nation’s politics to pursue all those who would stop or hinder national progress. Too long, criminality and corruption has gone untouched” he said.

“Those removed will in due time be permitted to return to the civil service, after a period of reflection and penance for the nation. The government does not throw away noted talent, even if the talented in question have fallen from the path” he said further.

The government is providing re-education for removed officials, where they are expected to do public work or community work before being re-assessed for government service.

The government spokesman further explained that the removals will be extended to state-administrations, “it is the government’s intention to clean out all levels of government in the Union. Further removals will take place at the federal level, before action is taken at the state and local levels. We intend to see all state institutions at all levels of public life to be cleaned thoroughly of corrupt and criminal elements.”

The purges are to be supported by new government legislation that will restore direct federal control over higher education. Up to 100 privately and commercially run universities, academies, polytechnics and institutes are to be federalised under government plans. The legislation is widely expected to result in education being purged of criminal elements, while many MPs have expressed a desire to “rid universities of the lofty reformist elites.”

New parliament passes motion condemning Tsabara's interim government

The new parliament launched itself today by passing a motion officially condemning the Tsabaran interim government’s actions in its eastern provinces.

True Way MPs celebrate their coalition's electoral victory following the Tsabara vote.

Tabled by prominent Irvadi MP, Ibrahim al-Masri, the motion “officially notes the disapproval and opposition of the Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics to the actions, movements and developments in Tsabara at the hands of the interim government.”

Addressing lawmakers, the 55-year old Irvadi said, “the interim government in Tsabara not only seized power through a violent and bloody coup against the democratically elected government, but now deploys heavily armed soldiers to regions where support for the previous government was strongest. This is unacceptable and a serious threat to the security of not only Tsabara, but all of northern Coius.”

Al-Masri also warned that the interim government was packed full of “those dangerous pro-Euclean types we see elsewhere in Coius, the ones who would pocket money out of their exploitation by the Euclean powers. It is packed full of those who find the decent and hardworking dispossessed of eastern Tsabara, as nothing more than backward thinking peasants.”

His comments and motion were seconded by Abdolreza Masani who said, “the actions of the interim government in Tsabara are not impressive let alone constructive. Their actions endanger security and stability and we must make clear our displeasure, if not just for our national interest, but in solidarity with all aspiring Irfani who wish to secure for themselves better futures and for their children.”

The motion was officially backed by the government of First Minister Farzad Akbari, who praised the proposers as “strong voices for the stability and continued peace of northern Coius.”

The motion passed 505-75, an overwhelming majority backed by the dominating position of True Way. The passing of the motion marks a low point in Zorasani-Tsabaran relations which have steadily soured since the overthrow of Yahya Aboud, the former premier under the late President Atwan al-Tughluq.

Following the vote, many recently elected MPs took to the podium section of the chamber to celebrate True Way’s overwhelming victory. Many took to wearing the tunics of the Irfanic Revolutionary Army in “thanks and respect” to the military’s backing of the movement.

Yeruham, Yeruham Province - Several explosions have been reported in several districts of Yeruham, with police declaring a “major incident.”

Explosions have been reported in Mazon, Kirayat Savon, Dkalim and Beit Masoud districts. Unconfirmed reports of gunfire have also been reported at Saint Jerome Hospital in the Sotirian Quarter.

Police have since declared a “major incident”, tweeting, “we are responding to a series of reported explosions in several locations. We are officially declaring a major incident and urge all citizens to be wary and to report any strange activity.”

Armed police and soldiers have been deployed across the city.

Yeruham, Yeruham Province - Several explosions have torn through several districts of Yeruham, while gunfire has been reported at the Gideon Yadin railway station, Saint Jerome Hospital, Yair Rabin Street and a police station on Constitution Street. Police have confirmed a “mass casualty incident.”

Eyewitnesses have described gunmen firing into restaurants, cafes and office buildings, while eyewitnesses at Gideon Yadin station have reported the use of guns and grenades. Hundreds of people were seen fleeing the ticket hall of the main rail station, armed police entered the station but failed to report the presence of suspected assailants.

Emergency services have reported casualties at Saint Jerome Hospital in the Sotirian Quarter. Staff and patients have told reporters that masked men entered the emergency room and opened fire on all inside. Several described the gunmen also throwing several grenades into the room.

At least four large explosions have since been confirmed in Mazon, Kirayat Savon and Dkalim. Emergency services are treating the explosions as “suspected bomb attacks.”

There are currently unconfirmed reports of further gunfire at the Ganei Ekron Synagogue, the districts of Kidron and Unity.

Yeruham, Yeruham Province - Yesterday’s shocking events in Yeruham, Tsabara’s largest city, has left 197 people dead and over 300 injured. 16 armed gunmen sowed chaos as they rampaged through the city. The city’s main train station, a Church, a Synagogue, a hospital, a police station, restaurants and two hotels became killing zones. This morning, the Federal Security Service published its timeline of events. While, it has begun a full investigation into the attacks and the group known as Al-Isbah that has claimed responsibility.

A day of carnage

The 28th December has emerged as a day of great infamy, millions mourn the loss of innocent life, while many foreign governments look on in trepidation. But the day began out as any other, though many Sotirians continued their Christmas celebrations and Atudites Hanukkah. The streets were clogged as normal, the offices and banks of Tsabara’s largest and wealthiest city were filling with workers - life continued on as normal, even as the Eastern Provinces smouldered through protests, riots and sporadic clashes with federal soldiers.

It all began at 11.56am, when explosions were reported in Mazon, Kirayat Savon, Dkalim and Beit Masoud districts. The first was a small device attached to the side of the number 44 bus, no one was killed but 7 people were injured. The second was a large car bomb which exploded at a major intersection in Mazon district, the blast shattered windows and destroyed passing vehicles. The Municipal Health Authority has since reported that 9 people were killed, and 17 others injured. The third struck a popular shopping arcade in Kirayat Savon, 14 people were killed and over 40 injured. The fourth blast is believed to have been a smaller device similar to the one used against the bus in Dkalim district. This device was attached to a taxi, the explosion injured the passenger and one bystander. In total the bomb blasts that heralded the attacks killed 23 people and injured 65 people, however, the chaos they caused would prove devastating in the hours to come according to sources inside the emergency services.

At 11.58am, four gunmen entered the ticket hall of Gideon Yadin station, the city’s principal rail station. Once inside they began to mercilessly gun down all before them. According to eye witnesses they fired continuously, only stopping to reload or to lob grenades.

“They just slaughtered everyone. They did so silently, just firing their machine guns. I saw one throw a grenade through the window of a kiosk; it blew it up. I don’t know if any staff were inside” said one eyewitness.

“I saw one chase people into the toilets and heard gunfire and screaming. I laid down on the floor, I used a body for cover and played dead until police came. I have never been so frightened” 27-year old dentist Itzik Kohn told TNN.

After massacring innocents for ten minutes, the gunmen fled the station. They hijacked a minibus, killing its driver, 33-year old Hassan Abdullah. These four gunmen would then drive to the Catholic Church of the Holy Lady on the Solarian Promenade. A total of 87 people were killed and over 140 injured at the station. The youngest murdered was 14, the eldest, an 88-year-old grandmother of six. Two police officers charged with station security were also killed.

At 12.03pm, two gunmen entered the emergency room of the Saint Jerome Hospital in the Sotirian Quarter. Funded in part by the Catholic Church, it has become one of the country’s largest and most advanced medical institutions. It provides vital services for all citizens from all faiths. It was once described as the “symbol of cosocialism.”

The masked gunmen, entering from the main entrance then sprayed the emergency room with gunfire, striking patients and staff alike. Reports that they entered the interior have since been dismissed, but their three-minute rampage killed 14 and injured 44 others. Most cruelly, it knocked out the city’s largest hospital, which would cause further disruption and chaos in the hours to come. The two gunmen then go on to attack a police station on Constitution Road.

The next target was hit at 12.03pm, where the attackers who struck the train station entered the Church of the Holy Lady on the Solarian Promenade. Only three people were present and survived without injury despite a hail of bullets and one grenade.

At 12.14pm, eight gunmen emerged from a side alley onto Yair Rabin Street, a popular shopping and entertainment thoroughfare, and named after the country’s most prominent Atudite poet. As they progressed down the street, they opened fire on popular cafes and restaurants, by now being filled with lunch time workers. They fired into the Casa Etruriana restaurant, killing 6 people, they shot at the Crystal Cafe, killing 10 people and fired into Ali’s Cafe and Shisha Bar, killing 8 people. A further 11 people were gunned down as they fled from the gunmen, their bodies left laying in the street. At the second intersection, the gunmen were intercepted by several police officers who shot and killed three, while losing one of their own, Office Ibrahim al-Saadi. The remaining gunmen dispersed down alleyways, only to meet up again in the backstreets behind “Hotel Row” on the Solarian Promenade.

At 12.26pm, two gunmen attacked the Ganei Ekron Synagogue, firing wildly at the building and through the glass door entrance. Fortunately, no one was harmed as the building was empty.

At 12.30pm, the gunmen, numbering 13 entered the Golden Bay and Yeruham Trident hotels. By now, social media and news outlets were covering the previous four explosions, and only grasping the extent of the attacks elsewhere in the city.

According to survivors inside the hotel, many were either dining for lunch or preparing for visits to the city’s world-famous beach. Others had just come or were preparing for business meetings. The hotels had always been prominent stays for foreign tourists and businesspeople. With the ongoing crisis since January, there’d been a flurry of Euclean business groups entering the hotels. Many Euclean investors seeking out their partners or using the city to negotiate with the interim government.

When the gunmen entered the Golden Bay, they immediately began gunning down people in the lobby, before splitting up into pairs. There are conflicting reports of how many entered the hotel, with the number ranging from six to seven. The men proceeded to attack the dining hall, kitchen and laundry room. Pairs then ventured upstairs, methodically storming each suite, floor by floor, shooting any and all they found. Unlike the neighbouring Yeruham Trident, the gunmen didn’t take any hostages, instead they opted to kill and ultimately set fires on several floors. In the ensuing chaos, the Special Police Group dispatched 12 officers to enter the hotel. Within 20 minutes they had shot and killed all gunmen inside and proceeded to evacuate survivors.

“I was eating lunch in the smaller hall, when I screaming and gunfire” Robert Daltry, an Esmterish investment manager told us.

“I couldn’t believe it. The waiter in the hall, a young Badawiyan man, froze but quickly waved us out to the back. He took us all, I think about 20 of us, through the kitchen into a storeroom. He saved our lives” he said further.

“These men came in shooting; they were screaming nonsense about ending an occupation and liberating Adunis from the evil and wicked. They killed my friend on the front desk and then went up into the rooms. I ran and hid in a store cupboard. I prayed so hard” 19-year old Zainab Hadad, who worked as a receptionist.

A total of 35 people were killed in the Golden Bay, including five foreign visitors.

Next door, in the Yeruham Trident, the situation was much the same. Gunmen entered through the lobby and begun attacking guests and staff alike. However, they began to seize guests as hostages. The scenes in the Trident have emerged as a graphic nightmare, with the gunmen selectively executing guests and staff from the Atudite and Sotirian faiths. After thirty minutes, the terrorists had gathered 35 hostages, many local Tsabarans, but also 10 foreigners alongside.

An attempt by police and their elite Special Police Group was repulsed by gunmen who ambushed three officers from higher floors who fired down into the lobby according to eyewitnesses hiding inside the hotel. One officer was wounded, and they retreated, by this time the federal government had ordered the deployment of specialist units to the city. Though sources within the Federal Armed Forces have already leaked worrying details, including that concern that if those “special forces weren’t awaiting deployment to the east, I don’t think we would have been able to respond as quickly as we did.”

Eventually, as concerned citizens and the world’s press coalesced outside the Yeruham Trident, close to 3pm, as the hotel burned, the SPG and helicopter borne special forces stormed the hotel. The former from the ground, the latter from the roof. 20 excruciatingly tense minutes later, the hotel was secure and the federal forces began to evacuate survivors.

With both hotels secure, the attacks were over. By 4pm, hospitals were overwhelmed, blood shortages were being reported and the country’s largest, most developed and modern city was in utter chaos. At 5pm, Interim President Nazim al-Qutayni and Atudite People’s Party leader, Aryeh Kahlon had arrived to visit survivors. It was clear on all faces, that the day had become a momentous event in the history of our country.

At 6.43pm, the federal government reported that 188 people had been killed and over 300 were injured. At 11.04am this morning, the numbers were revised. As of midday today, 197 people had been killed and 398 injured, making it the deadliest terrorist incident in Tsabaran history.

Simultaneously to the chaos and bloodshed in Yeruham, Federal Forces in the Eastern Provinces came under sustained attack throughout the day.

Protesters numbering in their thousands attacked Federal Police and pro-government soldiers with stones, petrol bombs and other projectiles. Responding with rubber bullets, tear gas and unconfirmed cases of live ammunition, the east roiled.

Much of the violence was focused in Hitteen, Beit Shajaf and Sidi Amar. In Sidi Amar, 8 soldiers were killed when their patrol was attacked with firearms and a rocket propelled grenade.

Sheik Salah was notedly silent throughout the day, before condemning the attacks in Yeruham describing them as “horrific and unforgivable.” He once again urged for peaceful protest even as the streets of the Eastern cities burned.

The Ministry of Defence issued a statement this morning denying reports the clashes in the east and the attacks were connected.

The government’s response

Following a series of tweets and posts on other social media sites, a group calling itself Al-Isbah (Badawiyan for “The Awakened”) claiming responsibility, the interim government has vowed to “pursue, hunt and destroy this group of murderers and criminals.”

A series of police raids in eastern Yeruham have taken place throughout the day, while a notable increase in soldiers on the city’s streets has been met with public approval. The government has also declared a week of national mourning.

Interim Premier, Aslan Ocalan has once again called for “national discord to resolve this dark crisis.”

Despite the government’s efforts, many across Tsabara now fear what the attacks will mean on the wider crisis gripping the country. The high number of Atudites who were killed has raised concerns of retaliatory attacks on Irfanis by the Lions of the Homeland or any other Atudite armed militia that has emerged since last year. One MP said, “either we come together through grief, we divide through hatred.”

Hopefully the nation comes together.

Regarding the recent terrorist attacks in Yeruham in the Transtsabaran Federation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has grave concerns in regards to the recent acts of terrorism committed against the population of Yeruham, the largest city in the Transtsabaran Federation. These attacks, which have been confirmed to have claimed the lives of 197 people and left over 300 wounded, are a cause of grave concern for the international community. They represent the complexity of the political crisis that has gripped the Transtsabaran Federation and the fatal nature that divisive sectarian rhetoric and political infighting can have on a fragile society left polarized.

These attacks will have significant ramifications, not just within the Transtsabaran Federation but for governments throughout the region. Worsening violence in the wake of the suspension of the constitution, the imposition of martial law, and the usurping of power by forces loyal to the country's interim president, Nazim al-Qutayni presents an urgent threat to the well-being of the country's civilian population. The degradation of the democratic institutions Transtsabaran Federation and the nation's model for co-habitational governance threaten to unleash a period of sectarian violence. Such fighting would pose a significant threat to the status of civil and human rights in the Transtsabaran Federation. The Caldish government remains firmly committed to upholding human rights not just in the Transtsabaran Federation but globally.

The Caldish government calls on both the Transtsabaran Federation and the international community to come together to defend human rights and to avoid further violent sectarian. Inaction by regional and international governments has allowed the situation in the Transtsabaran Federation to worsen. The nation's democratic institutions must be restored by international governments. The Caldish government hereby calls on the international community to act in the interest of upholding human rights in the Transtsabaran Federation. Further inaction could lead to one of the worse humanitarian disasters in recent history. Such an event must be avoided and the international community must come together to avoid this.

The Caldish Delegation to the Community of Nations will be working with international delegations to ensure the Community of Nations acts in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Yeruham. The Caldish government calls on the Community of Nations Security Committee to adopt a resolution that would prevent further sectarian violence in the Transtsabaran Federation and allow for the restoration of the nation's democratic institutions. The Caldish government also calls on international governments to avoid interference in the ongoing political crisis in the Transtsabaran Federation. Such involvement would exasperate the already fragile situation and push the nation further towards violence.

Independently of the Community of Nations, the Caldish government will work with its partners in the Euclean Community and the International Council for Democracy to avoid sectarian strife in the Transtsabaran Federation. In response to the terrorist attacks in Yeruham, the Caldish government will work with its international partners to ensure those responsible face international sanctions and are brought to justice.

The Caldish government will continue to monitor the situation in Yeruham. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the travel warning for Caldish and Euclean citizens traveling to the Transtsabaran Federation from Level 3 - Reconsider Travel - to Level 4 - Do Not Travel. Caldish and Euclean citizens within the Transtsabaran Federation are urged to make arrangements to leave the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the government of the Transtsabaran Federation in identifying victims of the attacks. Any victims of Caldish origin will be identified and their next of kin notified. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Caldish government will not be publishing the identities of any victims of Caldish origin.

ASHCOMBE - Prime Minister Reginald Wilton-Smyth joined the chorus of world leaders who expressed shock over yesterday's terrorist attacks in Yeruham, Tsabara's largest city. At a press conference held this afternoon, the prime minister said he was "absolutely appalled" by the "horrific display of violence" against the city's civilian population. According to the Tsabaran government, 197 were killed and 300 injured in yesterdays attacks. It was the single deadliest day in the ongoing Tsabaran Crisis, which began early this year amid political change and instability in the Badawiyan nation. Wilton-Smyth denounced the attacks, calling them "acts of barbarity" and an "attack on the civilized world".

"The developments in Yeruham are shocking. I join the rest of the world in denouncing this horrific display of violence that has left me nothing short of absolutely appalled. It is time that the free nations of our world come together and stand firmly against these acts of barbarity, as they are an attack on the civilized world itself".

The prime minister said he was "paying close attention" to the developments as they unfold, adding that it is "likely" a number of Estmerish and Euclean citizens were killed in the attacks.

"This is cause for grave concern, I am paying close attention and will work with the Foreign Secretariat to ensure the families of any Estmerish victims are not just informed, but supported in recovering from the devastation".

Members of a terror group known as Al-Isbah (Badawiyan for “The Awakened”) have claimed responsibility for the attacks on the city’s main train station, a Church, a Synagogue, a hospital, a police station, restaurants, and two hotels. As Tsabaran security services tried to cope with the attacks in the country's largest urban center, they were also targeted by anti-government elements throughout the country's Eastern Provinces. However, the Tsabaran government has denied that the attacks were connected.

Wilton-Smyth said he was "deeply concerned" about the role of radical Irfanic extremists in worsening Tsabaran Crisis. He said connections between Irfanic hardliners and the Union of Zorasani Irfanic Republics was "cause for grave concerned" and said the Estmerish intelligence community would support the Tsabaran government "however needed".

Instability has worsened in Tsabara after a powerful moderate, Nazim al-Qutayni, seized power from hardliners following the death of former President Atwan al-Tughluq. al-Tughluq's death ushered in a period growing uncertainty for the nation as his governing coalition, united by their support for political Irfan, descended into infighting. Premier Yayha al-Aboud assumed emergency presidential powers and later suspended the constitution indefinitely as majority-Atudite regional governments threatened secession in the face of al-Aboud's rise to power. al-Qutayni is viewed by many foreign governments as the only hope for the restoration of stability in Tsabara, as he works to cross the sectarian divide and reunite the nation. Today's attacks present new difficulties for the acting president, who has previously faced waves of protests against his authority by Irfanic groups. Sheik Faizan Salah, a powerful Irfanic cleric and the leading figure in the nation's political Irfan movement, has come under heavy criticism for his divisive and at times violent rhetoric in the aftermath of the attacks.

Elsewhere in the EC, President Alexis Walker said that she was "horrified" by the attacks in Yeruham. She also on the international community to "work to prevent sectarian disaster" in Tsabara as the country descends into renewed conflict along religious lines, arguing the world had "no choice" but to "work to secure a lasting peace and restore [Tsabara's] democratic, co-habitational institutions".

Before yesterday's attacks, Walker had announced an emergency meeting of the Euclean Convention, the group of the bloc's national leaders, to discuss the Tsabaran Crisis. Leaders will meet in Kesselbourg on 4 January to discuss the worsening situation in Tsabara. Walker said that the terror attacks in Yeruham showed a "new urgency" for national leaders to reach a consensus on the issue.

One major roadblock she faces is discord between the EC's dovish and the more assertive governments. Wilton-Smyth has been a major advocate for intervention in Badawiya and Coius at large to prevent the dominance of the Rongzhuo Strategic Protocol Organisation (ROSPO), led by Xiaodong and Zorasan. The prime minister clashed extensively with the Zorasani government in August following the killing of Zorasani dissident Assad Erekat by two men identified as Zorasani intelligence agents. A naval confrontation in July showed that Wilton-Smyth is willing to flex Estmere's armed forces in Coius, a major shift in the more reserved approach the nation typically adopted. More dovish governments in many of the EC's smaller states have come out strongly against direct Euclean intervention in Tsabara and Coius at large. Led by the government of Taoiseach (Caldish prime minister) Stiofán Mac Suibhne, small EC states have banded together to lobby the Euclean Commission to avoid direct confrontation with ROSPO. However, many of these governments are not members of the Euclean Defense Treaty Organization (EDTO), the military alliance of a number of Euclean states. Their lack of participation in the organization could allow Wilton-Smyth, backed by his NKP allies in Westbrücken, to secure Euclean intervention in Tsabara.

Walker hopes Saturday's meeting will allow the bloc to bridge the divide and develop a comprehensive approach to the instability in Tsabara, which many in Kesselbourg worry could spiral into one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history. Preventing wide-scale conflict, protecting the civilian population, and ensuring there is no mass movement of refugees across the Aurean Strait - the world's busiest waterway - are reportedly among the EC President's top priorities.

The Yeruham attacks provide a new sense of urgency for Euclean and world governments to act in Tsabara. As the conflict-stricken nation recovers from the deadliest day of its political crisis yet, there is no clear end in sight to the challenges the nation faces.

As we gather to celebrate the arrival of a new decade, the civilized world faces unprecedented dangers. At a time when rogue governments and illiberal forces threaten our free and democratic way of life, we are now faced with a serious threat to our freedom for the first time since the peace of the Great War. Yet, our resolve has never been stronger. As the world looks on in shock and horror at the events that unfolded in Yeruham, we see the free people of this world standing together in solidarity. The barbaric attacks that have left over two hundred dead and hundreds more injured will not be forgotten. Those responsible for the heinous assault on the lives of innocent civilians will be brought to justice by the free world. They will stand trial not just before man, but before God. The Tsabaran government has our unwavering support in its quest to ensure the monsters behind these acts of barbarism are brought to that justice. Perhaps, that is what worries me the most. Recent discoveries by our own intelligence and by our partners in the free world are deeply troubling. We see now that these attacks were not an isolated incident. They are not a coincidence. These acts of sheer and utter barbarity were carried out with the full backing of Zorasan. Their support for radical, hardline Irfanic extremists has thrown Tsabara and the region into chaos. With full confidence, we can now place the blame for the atrocities committed in Yeruham squarely at the feet of State President Vahid Isfandiar and First Minister Farzad Akbari. Emboldened by their complete and total takeover of their nation’s legislature, these men have now fully emerged as rogue actors and sponsors of extremism, violence, and terrorism. Support for radical Irfanic extremists in Tsabara must come to an end. The architect of such violence within Tsabara, Sheik Faizan Salah, must now face justice for his crimes against humanity. The civilized world must work together to ensure that the pressing threat presented by Salah and his extremism must come to an end by any means necessary. He will be shielded by Zahedan in its mission to spread its control to Tsabara, and we must confront them in order to prevent this from happening. Such developments, as deeply alarming as they are, unfortunately do not come as a surprise. We have seen the Zorasani regime becoming more and more brazzen in their attacks on the free world. The assassination of Assad Erekat within our very own borders is just one such example. Throughout the past year alone, the Zorasani military regime has unleashed unprecedented violence upon its civilian population, starved its population for access to a clean and safe water supply, upended the constitution to take full control of the legislature, arrested hundreds of dissident lawmakers and political opponents, and has launched a functionalist-style purge against those who are not ultra-loyalists. Most condemning of all, Zahedan has initiated the process of arming itself with missiles and weapons of mass destruction. This would provide a regime so openly hostile to the civilized world the unthinkable means to unleash hell upon our planet. The threat this rogue state presents to our freedoms, to our liberty, and to our very way of life are cause for grave concern among the free governments of our world. Together we must work to defend our freedom, for Zorasan is not alone. Throughout the past decade, the Xiaodongese government has systematically ensured the freedoms of their own people have come to an end. Following mass pro-democracy demonstrations in 2016 the regime of Chairman Yuan Xiannian brutally suppressed the millions who had assembled to defend their fragile democracy, in order to maintain its desperate hold to power. Their violence suppression shocked those throughout the civilized world. The end of democracy in Xiaodong marked its rise as the leading force of illiberalism. The threats posed by the Xiaodongese regime must not be underestimated. Their support for the rabid regime in Zorasan shows they are willing to use threaten the stability of the world. The axis that has formed between Rongzhuo and Zahedan is bound by their hatred of democracy, their rejection of fundamental human rights, and their desire to establish their supremacy not just over the whole of Coius, but the world. The Xiaodongese regime’s total disregard for the sovereignty of Tinza will be replicated once against in Tsabara and beyond. These rogue states and their terrorist proxies constitute an axis of evil with the aim of upending the peace of our world and bringing an end to our freedoms. Yet, the illiberal forces that threaten us go beyond this axis of evil. They are enabled by the regime in Ajahadya, whose desire to unite all of Hyndana under its rule has routinely brought conflict and strife. Operating alongside this axis, the Narozalic government seeks to take advantage of the chaos sown as it continues to threaten the stability of our own continent. Across the Vehemens, radicals in Chervolesia present a fundamental threat to free commerce and trade between nations as they have worked to negate international laws. Their support for far-left terrorists and cartels has unleashed a wave of violence in the Asterias not since for close to a century, as Marirana has descended into civil war. And we must never forget that the old evil remains, watching quietly and waiting to strike once again. As we enter this new decade, the civilized world must come together in order to defend itself from these rogue and illiberal actors. The Enlightenment model of liberal democracy, as embodied by Estmere’s long tradition of democratic and parliamentary governance, faces a global threat unseens since the functionalists ravaged and raped the world. The radical idea that we as human beings - the People - could rule themselves must be defended at all costs. The rights of life, liberty, and self-determination must not be left unguarded. As the flag-bearers of liberal democracy, we must ensure that this decade is not its last. May God bless the Federative Republics of Estmere. May God bless us all. .
