Northumbrian independence

Hello there,

I support our Northumbrian allies on the other side of the channel. If you ask who I am, then I am a proud Moravian separatist. Goal of me and my fellow Moravain separatists is to create a Duchy of Moravia independent from the Czech Republic (Czechs are fake Slavs who mixed with Germans, the Kingdom of Bohemia was basically a proto-nazi Germany).

Our organization made some polling to measure the popularity of our idea.

We asked five people: Franta, Honza, Čeněk, Vašek a Pavel.

Franta and Honza agreed completely, saying that "We have to stand up to the urban liberal elite in Prague."

Čeněk didn't know what Duchy means.

Vašek a Pavel were too drunk to answer.

This puts the polling results to 40% Yes and 60% Unsure. While this means our idea is not whole-heartedly supported by the majority of soon-to-be Moravians, it's a good start.

I would like to report that the Moravain separatists progressed.

We have been able to explain the concept of Duchy to Čeněk.

This puts the total numbers to 40% Yes, 20% No, 40% Unsure.

We believe that the sharp increase of No votes has been caused by agitation from the Soros backed weatern media. They are too afraid of an independent Moravia.

But our dreams of a nation won't die easily.

The North East of England does get a bad deal through the government not particularly caring either way about the populace of the region in the wake of the decline of its traditional industries.

But the solution is, in my view, increased funding and job creation schemes to tackle social deprivation in Northern England head on, as well as devolution for these regions.

I don't think the solution is reviving a thousand-year-gone state, where a significant proportion of the population (the Scottish Borders and Edinburgh, for one) don't consider themselves Northumbrian, to its original boundaries.

And to my knowledge the shafted region of Lancashire isn't included in the Northumbria you want, despite being part of it for a significant part of Northumbria's existence. So that sucks.

It is quite interesting that for something that supposedly has a good amount of support there is basically nothing about it online. You would think for a "issue" that effects millions there would be a couple of articles or polls about it somewhere at the very least. Very interesting indeed...

As a Yorkshireman, I can definitely say, most people in Yorkshire don't consider themselves Northumbrian. They consider themselves Yorkshire folk.

Also, independence from any part of the UK would be detrimental for the local economy (Scotland North East, Yorkshire, Wales, etc).
Federalising the UK is probably the only solutions to the unequal balance of power of Westminster.

With all that being said, this thread was a trainwreck pretty much from page 1. By page 6 it was everybody just running in circles of "Evidence to prove your claim plz!" "This poll I did totally proves it!" "That's an anecdote not a poll, please give real evidence!" "THIS IS EVIDENCE!" "NO IT IS NOT!" "YES IT IS!" "NO!" "YES!" and so on. Either no such evidence exists or Munk has been unwilling or unable to provide it; at which point there's really nothing to debate and ultimately rendering this entire effort a waste of everyone's time and energy. I think for the time being, we need to put this topic to bed and leave it there. Munk, do not repost.
