I’ve always been of the opinion that prioritising the Club World Cup over the League Cup was absolutely the right call. The EFL refused to budge and the only thing beating Aston Villa would’ve accomplished is creating even more fixture congestion later on in the season.

And I don’t think you’d find a single Liverpool supporter on the face of the planet who thinks that winning the Premier League and ending our three-decade title drought is not top priority. Gotta get back on our perch, after all.
