Season of mists and Spurs mediocrity,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing Son;

João Felix is very much on his way, and might be at 'scary' status by the end of the season. Ronaldo is on the decline, but still comfortably in the top five players on the planet.

Three points in Group F may be good enough for the knockouts, due to some third-placed teams getting in.

Meh.
I can name 6 forwards that are performing better than Ronaldo this season, and from Serie A alone.
Romelo Lukaku
Paulo Dybala
Ciro Immobile
Dries Mertens
Lautaro Martinez
Domenico Berardi

By the way, considering Lukaku and Mertens, I'd watch out for Belgium next year.

Yeah, that was embarrassing enough, especially as the titleholder ... then again, it was an awkward World Cup in general. ^^

Risottia wrote:Portugal isn't going to go past the group stage. Ronaldo isn't the same player he was in 2016, and the rest of Portugal isn't exactly top level.

Yeah, Ronaldo ... let's say, he has seen better days. I wouldn't be as pessimistic about the rest of the team, though - at least, I wouldn't place my bet on Portugal already going home in the group stage. Ronaldo has already been on a slight trend downwards back then (albeit nowhere near his one since then), and it's not like he had won the Euro entirely on his own.
Since Lillorainen's geography is currently being overhauled a 'tiny' bit, most information on it posted before December 12, 2018, is not entirely reliable anymore. Until there's a new, proper factfile, everything you might need to know can be found here. Thank you. #RetconOfDoom (Very late update, 2020/08/30 - it's still going on ...)

Hopefully this post satisfies the substantial new content forum rule.

Source: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50869633

Liverpool is riding really high: they are currently unbeaten in the current Premier League season, and they also won the Club World Cup in addition to being the current holder of the Champions League. The last time they lost, if I recall correctly, was 2-0 to Naples in September. An odd loss, like the 5-0 victory for Aston Villa on 17 December, can be expected, but it is clear Liverpool has found its way back to glory.

So where next for Liverpool? We will probably need to have them take on the World Cup winners France. If Liverpool beats France, we may need to find some Earth-like planets, although getting them to compete on equal terms, on this planet, may be a nightmare, especially if the opposing team is from the planet Krypton.

Still, it’s win-win for the astronomers if they get offered millions by FIFA in the desperate bid to create new tournaments to counter Liverpool’s successes. Either that or I am thinking far into the unknown (but that’s the reason why astronomy exists).

Solar System Championship.

Copa America 2020: Well it is already known how this tournament will be done, 2 groups of 6 teams and divided into two zones as in the US leagues (North and South, although in the US it is from West and East) where the top 4 will qualify to the semifinals of his division and so the final will be between the champions of his group (north vs south)

Group A (North, will be played in Colombia)
Brasil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador and Qatar

For me Brazil will win the group with ease, it would be followed by Colombia, Peru and Venezuela to qualify with suspense and Ecuador and Qatar will go home early, the Brazil semifinals will beat Venezuela and Colombia to Peru, to end a Brazil-Colombia

Group B (South, will be played in Argentina)
Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Australia, Paraguay, Bolivia

Argentina would not win comfortably, Uruguay and Chile will make them have a bitter time but they could take the first place, on the other hand, Australia would eliminate Paraguay and Bolivia without problems, the "Languros" has a better game than the two countries without sea, Boivia it would be last and Paraguay at the door of the classification, Argentina would beat Australia in the semifinals and Uruguay with suspense to Chile, the final would be Argentina-Uruguay the classic of Rio de la Plata
Ranking KPB: 95 (8.24)
Trigram: BGN
Titles: Wonder Cup 1, Beconailles (Andres Da Silva)

There were no less than three tannoy announcements during the second half at White Hart Lane warning that "racis[m] is interfering with the game [and] has no place in football" - the latest in a long, long line of racial abuse controversies which have been forever bubbling under the surface, but have been rising for half a decade and mostly came to light at the beginning of this season. The trend that I am seeing is that actions from even a minority of fans is unacceptable, and those involved in football have been losing their patience on a very old problem that pre-dates the Brexit by a long run.

However, we have seen examples of where football clubs with a bad history of sectarianism can bring the issue under control. For the sentence, the source is https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50842424.

What happened was that Liverpool had to split up the squad in order to play both the world cup and the league cup.

So Liverpool fielded a youthful squad in the league cup.

To get an idea of how young and fringe the squad was, every single player, starters and bench, had kit numbers above 50.

I guess the September claim had some substance, either that or Liverpool really needs to expand and improve their first-team squad if they keep winning trophies. :p

I’ve always been of the opinion that prioritising the Club World Cup over the League Cup was absolutely the right call. The EFL refused to budge and the only thing beating Aston Villa would’ve accomplished is creating even more fixture congestion later on in the season.

And I don’t think you’d find a single Liverpool supporter on the face of the planet who thinks that winning the Premier League and ending our three-decade title drought is not top priority. Gotta get back on our perch, after all. ;)

Trotting out Salah and company in the League Cup won't really make much of a difference since they'll play more fixtures in a not so relevant tournament and should focus on the season at hand.
