The two guards were quick to notice the commotion outside the guest house, quick to note the disturbance of these obviously German people. Passing by they even place their hands on their concealed weapons, as to defend themselves in case a fight happens. They needed to get back into the hotel, however that option may not be available to them at the moment. They more thought about the dangers to the Empress though.
Although this man may be a guest, they would need to pay attention for any more disturbances, and to ensure the Empress' safety.

Damien stopped at a small metal bin and pressed the front of his cigarette onto the provided ash-tray, ensuring it was properly inert before tossing it in with the rubbish. He burnt remnants off his hands and pointed towards the front gate, tilting his head at the armored motorcade.

"Appears to be a spot of bother over there, wise to not be involved, no?"

The translator remained silent and responded with a nod, watching as the Council Representative rubbed his chin in mild curiosity.

"Seems we'll have to wait our turn to greeted."

Before leaving to attend to the growing unrest, Cross locked eyes with the Empress of Eritei and the Council Representative of Starbase Lambda approching the gate. He bit his lip to stall for time, considering he was probably the only Frenchmen in the city who could speak the German tongue. He gestured for a policemen to go and fetch the wayward guests.

"Montrer du respect, okay?"
"Oui monsieur."

With a nod, Cross left to intercept the German troublemakers and a policemen in a black cape and red clad gestured the two guests aside, away from the commotion.

"Allô, Allô, you are the guests of international, oui? I will check your papers and show you interior."

The officer is wrinkled dress gave a smile and motioned towards the south entrance of the building. Quebecois common law mandates that most buildings of the large variety be fitted with at least two large entrances for safety purposes.

"You two are together?"

Born Farid Bolkiah on July 7, 1877; he was the eldest son of then crown prince, Ghalib Mansur Bolkiah and Ghalib's first wife, Salwa Masuda Bolkiah. He had seventeen siblings all in all, and entered school at a young age. As soon a he finished his studies at age 29, a marriage was arranged between the young prince and Princess Fatin Jinan Kiram of the Sultanate of Sulu. The princess initially objected to the marriage, but over time the two supposedly grew to be a happy couple. Farid had also been known to have completed his hajj soon after this, and had "Haji" added to his name.

After completing Hajj, the prince was appointed the Governor of Negaraselatan; a large and rich, yet unruly province of Bruneian Malaya. Plagued by separatists formed from Malay settlers who had developed a distinct culture over time away from Malaya, Haji Farid made it his mission to crush dissent and resolidify the empire's hold on the province. He commenced a complete overhaul of the officials that governed Negaraselatan, particularly those rumored to either be corrupt or harbor separatist sentiment; and replaced them with the most fervent Malay nationalists and loyalists from the educated upper class in Negaraselatan. He also began to crack down on certain student organizations in various schools and colleges that advocated greater autonomy or even entertained the idea that citizens of Negaraselatan were culturally distinct, and encouraged the creation of youth organizations that advocated Pan-Malay nationalism and loyalty to Bruneian Malaya instead. Non-Islamic religions, such as forms of animism brought to the lands by Moluccan immigrants, experienced suppression as well alongside native aboriginal belief systems; in an effort to strengthen cultural unity with the Malay Archipelago. Marxism also experienced suppression in Negaraselatan. These policies continued for about four or five more years, when Sultan Raiz Zafar Bolkiah I died and Ghalib Mansur abstained from the throne. This called for Haji Farid to return to Kota Batu and assume the throne as the 12th Sultan of Bruneian Malaya.

Upon assuming the throne, Haji Farid Bolkiah I made sure to replace every major official across the empire; especially those closest to the throne. All of his grandfather's old advisors and officials were immediately dismissed, and replaced with the most zealous and loyal administrators the Sultan could find from his network. He made sure that many of the officials were easily replaced, and had no way of creating income without the gold provided by the Sultan himself. He was also swift to dismantle industrial monopolies, citing market stimulation as reasons for such; although it is suspected that the Sultan simply did not trust having wealthy bourgeoisie have more money than himself. Non-Islamic religious institutions and dhimmi citizens were also taxed heavily, and conversion to Islam was highly encouraged. Languages other than Malay and Arabic were also highly discouraged, and were not taught beyond private universities. Like his predecessor, Haji Farid Bolkiah I also practiced militaristic policies and displayed ambitions to unite Malaya by annexing portions of the archipelago not yet under Bruneian Malaya. However, unlike his predecessor; Haji Farid Bolkiah also expressed a desire to annex the Sultanate of Sulu and annex desired provinces from Ayuthayya, both of which have been historically considered allies of Bruneian Malaya.

Not to be outdone, the British decided to come in absolute splendour and style, showing off bright new (disarmed) military planes releasing firework missiles across the city, in the shape and colours of the British flag, as a large airshow began in Montreal, with James Hormet and his guards paratrooping in, wearing specially-made jackets to look like shooting stars. The show, whilst expensive, showed off both the power and wealth of the Empire to the international community. But that wasn't the end of it, no. To greet the Emperor at his site, the most esteemed musicians across the country formed an orchestra to create a truly ground-shaking, impressive composition, with a flotilla of golden and diamond cars to escort the Emperor to the palace, where he took off his airsuit to reveal a shining imperial coat wielding every gem from black diamond to alexandrite, each one cut to atomic perfection, shining the flood lights which had been placed atop the cars. Under it he wore an impressive suit, made of the finest fabric and linens of the day, with a Musgravite-plated watch on top as his left hand wielded one of the largest jewels in the world, known as the British benoite, a benoite able to shine a million times more than a diamond, atop a scepter as his right revealed a sharp greatsword with made from a mixture of every known gemstone in the world. It was truly glorious.

It's almost identical to a hotel. For reference, think of a royalized Château Champlain. I derived inspiration from the French Versailles Palace and Austrian architecture, so thereso if you need more imagery. As for the actual name of the building, it appears in French on the map under "Setting". Hôtel de Ville, in English, Village Hotel (dating back to when Montreal was village).

As for events, I'm planning some side encounters to go through the weekend. Right now I'm in the process of officializing an optional "meet & greet" with the orchestra that will be playing for the ball and the Chief Conductor, and I'm hoping to pile most of the leaders together so that they can interact. This will take place Friday through Sunday.

The first few days were destined to be messy with the... "creative liberties" certain nations took to make their entrance. Don't worry, by Friday or Saturday, everything will be much more organised and regimental for those who want it, while still enjoying the complimentary freedoms of writing your own character-driven story in Montreal.

Also, since this is MT, feel free to use real tourist guides and reference real restaurants, etc...
