It's really a tad silly at this point. The idea that the court exists above politics at this point is pure fiction, and all Roberts would need to do to realize this is look at his fellow justices on the bench.

The lower US courts and the upper US Supreme Courts can and do make Political related decisions from time to time, even if it is not their intent to do so when they do so. President Trump is correct when he said their are leftist judges. What he did no say is, their are right wing judges as well. Like Brett Kavanaugh on the right and RBG on the left. This is why a majority conservative majority on the lower courts and the US Supreme Court matters. or a leftist majority matters.
