Are the judiciary appointed or elected?
Appointed. The President submits a list of three (3) candidates to Congress. Both houses of Congress must approve the chosen candidate.

What determines appointment of the judiciary/what do the electorate base their decision on?
All candidates must: (i) have a law degree; (ii) be at least 40 years old; (iii) have taught as law professors for at least 10 years.

What powers do the judiciary have?
The Supreme Federal Tribunal, amongst other powers, (i) exercises judicial review on all kinds of laws in the federation, but overturning laws require an unanimous decision of the Tribunal; (ii) ratifies international treaties; (iii) may remove members of the federal government (except the President) for violating the national constitution.

Is their religious influence on the judicial system?
Absolutely none. Although a strong Catholic sentiment remains in the population, the Tribunal is known for its defined secularism.

What legal system do you have?
A mixed system of civil law and common law precepts. There is a strong tendency to move away from statutory law.

How are judges viewed?
The general population views local and district judges as important, necessary officials to ensure society works properly. This is not the case for members of the Supreme Tribunal as they are seen as a bit more greedy and out of touch (even though the law is being enforced properly) as recent government changes were gestated by the Tribunal's actions.

An elderly person being unable to afford medication: Tell him to go steal some parts.
A young teenager being unable to afford medication: Same for him.
A homeless (or poor) person abused by a rich person or several rich people: Scroungers typically do this with the intent of selling the poor sod to a foundry as scrap. Stay back, lest you be their next target.
A rich person abused by a homeless person or several homeless people: Watch the battle, and see if they can turn the tables. If they do, congratulate them on their victory.
A homosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences: Tell all of them to quit acting like a bunch of stupid humans, and suggest a desexualization patch for all of the obvious immigrants. ALL of them MUST be some kind of formerly-biological types, or else they wouldn't have any sort of sexuality.
A heterosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences: Same as above.
A child bullied by other children in school grounds for a particular reason (e.g. wearing pink): Tell him to either fight them or conform.
A child bullied by others for no particular reason, or because it seemed fun to pick on the child: Tell him to fight them, and perhaps help with upgrades if he isn't currently powerful enough to win.
An adult steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person: Meh, Deceps gonna Decep
An elderly steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person: Same as above
A child steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person: Same as above, only offer pointers to help him along his journey to adulthood as a proper Decepticon
A pregnant woman denied abortion before the second trimester: Recoil in horror upon remembering that biologicals can just start auto-building themselves inside of other biologicals even when not wanted!
A pregnant woman denied abortion during or after the second trimester, or when the woman is very close to giving birth: Same as above!
A foreign tourist/couple visits your country and acts rudely or does something that is considered rude in your country's culture(s): Step on the little biological and crush it, or use it as a hackeysack ball until it turns to mush.
A tourist/couple from your country visits another country and acts rudely or does something that is considered rude in that country's culture(s): Smugly ask what the puny biologicals in that nation are gonna do about it. Send a picture of one of us holding one of their species in one hand as a reminder of just what they're up against. Tell them to be glad that our rude tourists weren't there to raid oil. Then, raid their oil, since they obviously weren't sufficiently grateful for our prior restraint.

A homosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences: Will stand up for the homosexual.
A heterosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences: Will stand up for the heterosexual, if the Andocarian itself was homosexual, they would still do the same, but also tell people how what they’re doing doesn’t help.
A child bullied by other children in school grounds for a particular reason (e.g. wearing pink): If the victim were their child, they would report it.
A child bullied by others for no particular reason, or because it seemed fun to pick on the child: same as above, but just more outraged.

An elderly person being unable to afford medication: Ruritanaises protest outside the royal palace and Parliament building, demanding universal healthcare.
A young teenager being unable to afford medication: See above.
A homeless (or poor) person abused by a rich person or several rich people: Most Ruritanaises wouldn't care, but a small contingent would view this as a reason why Ruritane needs to stop being right-libertarian and become left-libertarian.
A rich person abused by a homeless person or several homeless people: Ruritanaises protest outside the government buildings, demanding an increased police presence to deal with such crime.
A homosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences: Ruritanaises protest demanding for every Ruritanois province to legalize same-sex marriage, and for more legislation against hate crimes.
A heterosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences: Ruritanaises wouldn't care. They would think the heterosexual person needs a thicker skin.
A child bullied by other children in school grounds for a particular reason (e.g. wearing pink): The child doesn't need to change their ways, but the child should ignore it or tell an adult.
A child bullied by others for no particular reason, or because it seemed fun to pick on the child: Ruritanois adults protest in front of schools, demanding an end to senseless bullying.
An adult steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person: Ruritanaises protest outside police stations, demanding more police presence. If a Ruritanaise is there at the scene, they will help the victim fight off the thief.
An elderly steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person: Same as above, except that if a Ruritanaise sees the crime happening, they won't do anything.
A child steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person: Same as above, except Ruritanaises are protesting for more funding of juvenile prisons.
A pregnant woman denied abortion before the second trimester: Ruritanaises protest, demanding that the government force the provinces to accept abortion.
A pregnant woman denied abortion during or after the second trimester, or when the woman is very close to giving birth: It honestly depends on the individual Ruritanaise. If the pregnant woman was raped or physical/mental health issues are a problem, Ruritanaises will protest.
A foreign tourist/couple visits your country and acts rudely or does something that is considered rude in your country's culture(s): Your average Ruritanaise will slap the tourist/s. They might get arrested for assault and battery, but then Ruritanaises will protest.
A tourist/couple from your country visits another country and acts rudely or does something that is considered rude in that country's culture(s): Ruritanaises wouldn't care. They could think that people in other countries should get a thicker skin.

An elderly person being unable to afford medication:
This is a matter for the Church, which will assist in receiving critical medicines the person needs to function. Protestant Baptist churches receive direct government subsidies that they distribute freely. One of the duties of these including caring for the poor. The elder would receive aid from the Church.

A young teenager being unable to afford medication:
The parent is expected to care for the child. If the offspring is an orphan, he is likely in Church custody already and will receive his medicine from the orphanage.

A homeless (or poor) person abused by a rich person or several rich people:
The wealthy physically harming or tormenting a creature in poverty is considered a spectacular act of cruelty. If the homeless creature is being beaten by the rich man, it is likely that he will be shot or tazed by one or more bystanders in defense of the homeless creature.

Furthermore, if the wealthy man also happens to be a nobleman, especially a Boyar, he can be charged with the further crime of Conduct Unbecoming the Noblesse Oblige. This can result in him being censured, fined, or face disciplinary action by the Grand Boyar Council or the Congressional Duma. If it is particularly serious, he can have his title stripped from him and his estates seized. For non-heriditary nobles, this is forfeiture, and for heriditary nobles, it results in abdication to the heir.

A heir to a noble estate can be disqualified by the incumbant for any reason. Societal and cultural pressure would, in this case, practically demand that a nobleman disqualify the heir and choose another Dvorian.

A rich person abused by a homeless person or several homeless people:

The homeless creature, if he is physically attacking the rich man, will probably get shot or tazed, if the rich creature doesn't shoot him himself.

A homosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences:
It depends on the form of abuse. For verbal abuse, mockery, and so on, this is generally considered in poor taste, but not unacceptable. It is neither a crime nor a problem that needs solving.

For physical abuse, there is zero tolerance for gay bashing. Gay bashing is punishable by a maximum penalty of death.

A heterosexual person abused by others because of their sexual preferences:
That's a recipe for getting lynched.

A child bullied by other children in school grounds for a particular reason (e.g. wearing pink):
That's a paddlin'. Or, increasingly, that's a canin'.

A child bullied by others for no particular reason, or because it seemed fun to pick on the child:

An adult steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person:
This is how you get shot, tased, or bashed by billy clubs.

An elderly person steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person:
This is how you get shot, tased, or bashed by billy clubs.

A child steals the wallet, smartphone, or any property of value (or contains something value) of another person:
Generally, you either get your rear beat by the courts with a rattan cane, or you get wailed on by your parents when the police take you home, or you spend a night in jail and THEN get wailed on by your parents when the police take you home.

A pregnant woman denied abortion before the second trimester:
For humans, the denial is required by law, unless the mother was raped or doctors can firm that the mother's body or life are in direct, medical danger. These are the only two situations abortion is allowed, and almost all mothers choose life when it comes to being raped. The baby is actually considered healing by some.

A pregnant woman denied abortion during or after the second trimester, or when the woman is very close to giving birth:
For humans, the denial is required by law, unless the mother was raped or doctors can firm that the mother's body or life are in direct, medical danger. These are the only two situations abortion is allowed, and almost all mothers choose life when it comes to being raped. The baby is actually considered healing by some. Doctors performing late-term abortions without a legally valid reason are charged with first-degree murder.

A foreign tourist/couple visits your country and acts rudely or does something that is considered rude in your country's culture(s):
Point and laugh or have a run in with cops. TS does not administer corporal punishment or imprisonment of tourists, rather, they only use deportation.

A tourist/couple from your country visits another country and acts rudely or does something that is considered rude in that country's culture(s):
When he comes home, he may very well be seen with and given more shame and disgust in his home country than abroad!

What calendar does your nation use? Gandoor utilizes the Gregorian calendar as its sole official calendar.
What date format(s) does your nation use? Day Month Year is used for English and Russian, Year Month Day is used for Japanese.
What is today's [IC] date for your nation? 18 November 2024 (English, long-form), 18/11/2024 (English, short form), 18 ноября 2024 г. (Russian, long-form), 18.11.24 (Russian, short form), 2024年11月18日 (Japanese, long form), 24/11/18 (Japanese, short form)
What clock(s) does your nation use? The 24-hour clock is the sole legally recognized clock in our nation and has been since 1922.
Does your nation use a different clock format when speaking VS in writing? Usage of the 12-hour clock is more common when speaking.
How are times written in your nation? Give an example 24-hour notation is used in writing with a full stop used as the separator. A leading zero is sometimes used for the hour, but is not required. AM and PM are not used in writing. Examples: 16.26, 02.19
Are there any other important things to know about your nation's methods of date and time notation? Times past midnight can be counted past the 24-hour mark, this is most used for places of business open past midnight or in TV scheduling. (Examples: A store that, in the standard 24-hour notation, would be open from 7.00 until 1.00 might instead say that they're open from 7.00 until 25.00. A TV station broadcasting a movie from 23.30 until 1.30 might instead say the film will be broadcast from 23.30 until 25.30) When speaking, usage of the terms 'half-[time]', 'quarter-[time]', etc. refers to how long until the mentioned time. (So, for example, 'half-ten' means half an hour until ten, or 9.30)

What calendar does your nation use? Great Nortend uses the Gregorian calendar. However, the year is taken socially to begin on the 1st of October, although the calendar year changes on the 1st of January.
What date format(s) does your nation use? Written in numerals — Day/Month/Year or Day·Month·Year (e.g. 7/12/1999 or 7·12·1999)
Written out — Month Day, Year (e.g. December 7, 1999)
Spoken — Month the Day ordinal, Year (e.g. December the seventh, nineteen ninety nine)
What is today's [IC] date for your nation?November 19th, A.C. MMXX, A.D. 1999
What clock(s) does your nation use? Usually the 12 hour clock. The 24 hour clock is only used for military and official purposes.
Does your nation use a different clock format when speaking VS in writing? The 12 hour clock is nigh ubiquitous in speaking, except in military usage.
How are times written in your nation? Give an example 7·30 p.m. Some people use a colon instead of the interpunct. When 24 hour time is used, there is no separator, but 'h.' for 'hora' is used afterwards — 1930 h.
Are there any other important things to know about your nation's methods of date and time notation? The civil year is very commonly written in academic, legal, government and official documents, along with the regnal year for legal and government purposes. Often when the civil year is used, the civil term will also be specified which divides the civil year into quarters. The terms are Michaelmas, term, Hilary term, Whitsun term and Marymas term.

How are times written in your nation? Give an example 21.31
Are there any other important things to know about your nation's methods of date and time notation? The Revolutionary Calendar, unlike the Gregorian Calendar, has a year 0. There is also the traditional Victoresian calendar, which is organized in an incredibly complex manner in relation to the centralized planning of agricultural production in the Imperial Era.

I. Questions of Place.

Describe the geography of where your society calls home. It’s a desert on the planet Malebar, an Earth-like world which was terraformed by an ancient human civilisation
Describe the climate your society deals with. How severe are their seasons? Outside the city is extremely hot, it's a desert. The city itself though is made of thousands of dome-shaped arcologies which are climate controlled
What kinds of natural disasters has this society gotten used to? Not much, the occasional sandstorm requires protection of the dome's filters but that's all really
What importance (spiritual or cultural) do people ascribe to the geography? None, except St. Anthony's Dome which is the home of the Holy Catholic Church on Malebar
How do people feel about local landscapes being altered or used for a purpose other than what is traditional? They don't, it's expected
What are the most commonly-grown foods? N/A, we have protein/vitamin/mineral drinks which prove everything citizens need. Those few strange people who still insist on eating "real food" import it from abroad
What are the most commonly-eaten meats? N/A
What foods are considered exotic or expensive? "Real food" is far more expensive than a normal meal
What forms of alcohol are common? All of them!
Is there usually enough food and water for the population? Yes, we have far more than we need
What is this place's most abundant resource? Sand
What is its most valuable resource? Our people
What resource is it most lacking? We can fabricate most things easily. We're a post-scarcity civilisation
How do people travel from one place to another? Public transport, personal vehicles, or walking
Are the borders secure? In what way? Yes, it can be difficult to enter without a Pass (although these are extremely easy to obtain
How many people live here? Around 30 million
Where in this place do they congregate? Generally in the public areas of their home arcologies, although people do of course travel around the whole city
What part of this place do they avoid? Why? The Surroundings (i.e the desert)
What are the most common domesticated animals here? And what are they domesticated for? Dogs, cats, rodents, pigs and monkeys/apes are all common pets here
What are the most common wild animals? How are wild animals treated? There are few animals living out in the desert
Which animals are likely to be pets? Which ones won't be? See above. People are unlikely to keep particularly violent animals
What are the most common domesticated plants here? And what are they used for? All sorts, they're mainly there to look pretty
What are the most common wild plants here? What are they used for? There are very few plants growing in the desert
