Olympian University

Olympian University is the premier asset of the Société Olympienne. A large classical manor converted to host the finest in modern amenities, as well as a handful of equally beautiful smaller buildings occupying the grand and stately grounds, it is certainly an awe-inspiring home for an appropriately significant institution of learning.

The nations of Greater Olympus have been enrolled in Olympian University in order to learn how to be more successful nations. They will be educated in international relations, economics, ethics, as well as a number of optional classes. Nations will also have plenty of time to socialize and get to know each other better, both in social time around the grounds as well as in the dormitories students will be sorted into.

As the first semester gets closer, more information about the University will be made available, including a map of the grounds, dormitory sorting, and quick lecturer introductions.

For now, while all nations are welcome to study at the Olympian University, formal enrollment is still a step in the process of being welcomed. Answer fully and honestly and you should have no problem!

Main Faculty

Olympia

Olympia is the ancient, and she is the land. Olympia is more powerful than any other known personification. It makes sense, then, that Olympia is the well-respected headmistress of the Olympian University.

Olympia is seen little, but there are many rumors about her. She can be seen administering classes in Economics and in Ethics, as these subjects have proven so controversial no lecturer could be trusted to deliver a fair lesson.

Olympia is aloof, but clearly feels some level of responsibility to watch over her students, the nations.

L'Empire

L'Empire, who once owned the title of Mèroni, is perhaps the oldest member of faculty barring Olympia, though is still a child in comparison. Either way, L'Empire has existed for many, many hundreds of years.

He has since given away his name and seen it given away again. L'Empire has witnessed history as it happened, and through his unique perspective as an incredibly successful early polity, often can provide interesting interpretations. L'Empire is the perfect lecturer, then, for the subject of History.

The Tsardom

The Tsardom, which used to own the title Tanaya (alternatively Anna), has a strong background among the elite, as well as a foundation in classical learning.

She is known to be a lecturer with high grades and good results, but is also known as a particularly oppressive teacher, and can be very specific in her methods.

The Tsardom has held a few roles within the University. The one that stuck was Military Studies. Strategy, Tactics, Logistics, Drilling, it is where she is now most at home, and where her more disciplinary approach is seen as fitting.

The Kingdom

The Kingdom, who used to hold the title of The Rodaves, is a Produz-related polity of the past who has found a home at the Olympian University.

She is a tough woman, and faster than she might look. She has found her place in managing the physical education of the students.

This includes optional classes, but of much more significance, the Kingdom manages the extracurricular sports organized through the university. The most successful venture is the OUMS League, Olympic University Mixed Soccer.

She has yet to convince Olympia to allow the introduction of a bull-fighting class.

The Kahle

The Kahle, who lost his title, did so willingly. He oversaw the unification effort which would result in the birth of Jashnagar. The Kahle is loud and friendly, and hard to offend.

His charisma, as well as his success in bringing others together in the past, have made him an excellent teacher for the university's course in International Relations and Foreign Policy.

The Kahle has not surrendered all of his other interests however, as he also oversees the boating activities in Lake Mytikas as well as rendering assistance in the community gardens.

Campus

Academic, Administrative, and Social
1. The Primarius Building is the largest structure on campus, and the center of it all. Originally a neoclassical manor house, the converted building hosts the two grand lecture theaters, designated PL1 and PL2, as well as a number of smaller class and discussion rooms, designated PR 1-12. The original kitchen is still in use, feeding the cafeteria. The top floor hosts the offices of significant faculty as well as residencies for some faculty that live on site. The Solarium is a large social space, with an iconic glass domed roof.

2. The Administration Building will be of little interest to most students. If the Primarius is the heart, this is the brain. It houses office space for the bureaucracy of the university. Enrollment processing, records, finance and accounting, class approvals, everything that goes on here eventually works its way through the Administration Building if it's going to happen above the table.

3. The Terrene Library is divided into four zones. The largest, the Blue Zone, is open to socializing and includes the primary computer labs on campus as well as selections of popular books in a number of languages. The Green Zone is the western "bank" and includes group reading and discussion rooms (TR1-6) as well as library administration. The Yellow Zone is the central "bank" and houses the majority of books and other media in storage at the library. Textbooks for all subjects taught are available, as well as a wide collection of books on a number of other topics. The Red Zone, the eastern bank, houses the special collections, both old and important books as well as art pieces and other items. Access to the Red Zone is more restricted than other sections of the library.

4. The Selene Building, constructed in 1993, houses two lecture theaters (SL1-2) as well as a number of side rooms. The building, added to the campus to expand capacity for classes, provides modern amenities that Primarius was not built for. It houses the science department as well as secondary computer labs.

5. The Barracks is the center for military studies on the campus, which have been conducted in a separate building since 1922. It houses an instruction room, training facilities, and the basement arsenal, which is the only place on campus with higher security than the Red Zone of the Library. It is conveniently located next to Site 16, the drilling yard.

6. The Stadio is, in reality, anything but. One of the smallest buildings on campus, it is the hub for physical activities. It includes a small gym area with top of the line equipment, as well as housing the classroom for physical education classes and the storage for the required equipment for more than a dozen different sports and games, which can be played in the adjacent Activity Fields, Sites 17 and 18.

7. The Boathouse stores the kayaks used in the adjacent Lake Mytikas. Little else goes on here.

8. The World Bell sits in a thin tower that extends above everything else on campus, centered in the paved area called the Atrium. It is supposedly ancient. It is rung once in the morning at the beginning of classes, and twice at the end of classes for social time. Three rings indicates an emergency.

Disused
9. The Cabin was constructed by the Students of Year 1701-1702 as part of a class in construction and architecture. It was scheduled to be demolished to make way for the next year's construction but after the cancellation of that class the Cabin remained and saw some use as a social area. The University strengthened the building in 1856 but less than ten years later the Cabin's nebulous position as a university property was decided when it was condemned.

10. The Mytikas Building used to be utilized for agricultural lessons, but since the construction of the Eden Gardens, there has been no need to use the island for a growing area. The building is somewhat dilapidated and is currently unused by the university. Students are warned against exploring the building as the strength of the foundations cannot be assured.

Residence
11. Kathreftis Hall is the newest dormitory on campus and is known for a positive reputation. Clean rooms, functional heating in winter, and other such amenities will be enjoyed here. The hall has a distinct look, two main buildings linked by a walking bridge that crosses above the path between the ground floors.

12. Asteroskopeio Hall, often referred to as the "Old Observatory", has been used as a dormitory since it's conversion over a hundred years ago. It is often joked at for having rounded walls making most furniture fit very uncomfortably, but the observation deck is one of the most coveted social spots on the entire campus.

13. Frourio Hall is the oldest building on campus. Originally built as a side structure to what is believed to have been an old fortress of some kind, Frourio is all that remains. It is known to be drafty and poorly insulated, leading to very cold winters. Accusations of "haunting" are entirely denied as ridiculous and frivolous by the university administration, and the basement area has been locked for student safety reasons.

Green and Activity Areas
14. The Hedgery is a well-known garden at the entryway to the university that is carefully maintained by the administration. Students are asked kindly to keep off of the grass.

15. The Eden Gardens are used to grow food for agriculture classes, as well as providing a community gardening area and a number of secluded social spots among the hedges and flowers.

16. The Drilling Yard is used for military exercises of many varieties, as well as for shooting practice.

17-18. The Activity Fields, A and B, are identical. They can be converted for use in a number of different sports, the equipment for which is housed in the adjacent Stadio.

19. The Fire of Liberty is a large sheltered bonfire that has burned continuously since the induction of the first class at the Olympian University. Students are warned against pranks involving the Fire of Liberty.

Dormitory Assignments

The applications period for the year of 2019-2020 has now closed. Olympian University has been pleased to accept and warmly welcome a class of seventeen student nations, who will be boarding at OU to learn the necessary skills to become a better nation. University Administration has processed student applicants and determined dormitory assignments for this year.

Students will be grouped in dormitories based on their continent of origin. University Administration hopes that being resident with familiar faces will help students adjust and feel at home at the University, though they are encouraged to socialize with others during social time. While not universal, preference has been given to unisex bedrooms as is tradition.

Frourio Hall will be occupied by the five student nations of Lira. The old and refined fort uses two-person bedrooms. Produzland and Eskeiura will share the first floor bedroom. Kathreftis Hall will be occupied by the six student nations of Nori. Choclyic, Jashnagar, Nunavestland, Kiteahu, Yannoue, and Zanaro, will enjoy the benefits of the modern and purpose-built hall. Each student at Kathreftis Hall will enjoy an individual bedroom. Nunavestland, Kiteahu, and Zanaro have bedrooms in the Northern Block, while Choclyic, Jashnagar, and Yannoue have bedrooms in the Southern Block.

Asteroskopeio Hall will be occupied by the six student nations of Mu-Kal and Merediq. Asteroskopeio, like it's fellow old dormitory Frourio, uses two-person bedrooms. Bnnu and Al-Meriq, at their own specific request, will share a bedroom. Carelia and Tanaya will share a bedroom. Finally, Storsnia and Tero Malstreciga will share a bedroom.

In the near future students can expect to select optional classes and receive their timetables.

It seems to me that this university is clearly a good university. But it is worth considering that every student seems to have time to regret choosing a university (or at least a faculty). And I am sure that this university also has students who once regretted or still regret their choice. Sometimes this happens at the very beginning, and then there is still a chance to leave and re-enter. Sometimes students simply come to the conclusion that they will study some subjects on their own and these subjects will be useful for them for further development, and other subjects will simply be handed over using various professional services , that help students because these subjects are either too complex or they are simply unnecessary for students and they see no reason to waste their time, energy and other resources on studying these subjects. And sometimes the realization of a mistake comes in the last year or even after graduation.
