World of Gods Reboot (OOC|OPEN!)

Postby Quavv » Thu Nov 14, 2019 8:39 pm

IC is here
Before the foundation of the world as we know it, there was nothing...nothing except a being. This being had no name, and to this day is simply referred to as "The Life Giver". The Life Giver divided his being into two. One half forming the galaxies, planets, and mortal beings that inhabit them, collectively known as the Mortal World. The other half of the Life Giver formed into a spiritual plane of existence. While not as vast as the Mortal Universe, it had its own inhabitants. The inhabitants of the spiritual plane, however, were much more powerful and were given authority and responsibility over the Mortal World. The inhabitants of the spiritual plane, later called the Spiritual World, became known as gods. In this RP, you will play as one of these gods.

The Spiritual World has two parts. A single continent, called Unera, where the domains of the gods are, and then a vast plane of darkness simply known as "Beyond Unera". Hell exists within this plane of darkness as well as hordes of demonic creatures.

The Mortal World includes the Earth as we know it in the year 2019. The only difference is that the religions of our world don’t exist. Instead, the humans of Earth worship the gods of the RP. The existence of the gods is very evident, so while you may have those who don’t worship gods for various reasons, you don’t have any Atheists or Agnostics. Gods can access the Mortal World through portals in the Spiritual World. However, in order to return to the Spiritual World, no portal is needed and gods can return simply by snapping their fingers.

The relationships between humans and gods has varied throughout the centuries but mostly been good. Gods generally don’t interfere with the humans daily life except by occasionally blessing worshipers. The degree to which gods visit the human world depends on the god. Once about a thousand years ago, a group of humans tried to kill a god. It was a failed attempt and all humans involved were killed. It was the one and only time this has ever happened. Today, the strongest weapons of the humans are capable of damaging gods, but no attempt has been made to attack one.

Worshipers of particular Pantheons are generally distributed across the continents as follows:
Gods of the conceptual Pantheon are most popular in Western countries (Europe, Greenland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
Gods of the Spiritual Pantheon are most popular in Asian countries
Gods of the Nature Pantheon are most popular in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean
Gods of the Space Pantheon are surprisingly most popular in the islands of Oceania and also have the dominant following in Russia

Each god rules over an "aspect" of the Mortal World (Example: God of Water would rule over the seas in the Mortal World.) The aspect of the Mortal World that they rule over determines the type of powers the god has. Gods are immortal in the sense that they can live on indefinitely. However, they can be killed. Gods can travel to the Mortal World by way of portals, located in the palaces of each domain.

Gods are split into two groups, the Titans and the Devas. Titan gods are more powerful and rule over domains and pantheons. Devas exist as members of a particular Titan's pantheon and live within said Titan's domain.

Each Titan resides in and rules a domain (city) within the Spiritual World. Each domain is populated with members of the ruling god's pantheon as well as worshipers. Worshipers are humans who worshiped a particular Titan on Earth and, upon death, obtained a new form and now lives within the domain of the Titan they worshiped on Earth. The new form and abilities worshipers take upon spawning in the domain reflects that of the Titan they worshiped. However, they are much less powerful. Worshipers generally have a lifespan of about 1000 years within the domain and then their spirit transitions to Heaven or Hell (depending on how they lived during their time in the domain).

Domains are mostly self-governing, but ultimately the continent is governed by the God of Power, Athanatos.

There are 4 god categories:

1) Conceptual (God of love, god of peace, god of war, etc.)
2) Nature (God of fire, god of water, god of wildlife, etc.)
3) Cosmic (God of gravity, god of stars, god of space, etc.)
4) Spiritual (God of life, god of death, god of the afterlife, etc.)

When Titan gods die, they cease to exist in their current form. They are then reincarnated through an offspring of their worshipers in their domain. When Deva gods die, a new one must be appointed by a Titan from among the worshipers. The appointment of a new Deva can't happen until a year after the death of that Deva.

So here's how we're going to do apps. I will accept a total of 3 Titan gods other than myself as Athanatos. Everyone else will RP as Deva gods. The power difference between Titan and Deva gods is significant but not so much that a Deva god could never defeat a Titan in battle, especially if several of them teamed up. Each god fits into a god category. So, for instance, if someone makes a Titan god who is the "God of Fire" he'd fit into the nature god category. Any other god after that who fits into the nature god category would be a part of that Titan's pantheon. Apps are below. Look at my app as an example. If there's any question about which category your god would fit into, just ask and we'll figure that out.

Titan or Deva?

Only submit a domain app if you've been accepted as a Titan.

This RP seems very interesting, here is my app:

Name: Malum (more commonly called the "Demon King" by mortals)
God of: Sin, Suffering, Damnation, and Demons
Titan or Deva? Titan (5th Pantheon, Proposed by Quavv) (Hell Pantheon? Sin Pantheon? Anyone can give ideas for a name.)
Powers and Abilities: Can control demonic creatures and entities, can tempt mortals into sin against other gods, king over Hell and those sentenced to burning and can do as he pleases with them, can cause mortals suffering in a variety of ways, can possess mortals should he desire, but this is rare.
Appearance: He can manifest in a variety of forms, but he mostly stays in this one: A skeletal ram head with a red glow emanating from the eye sockets, wears a dark red and black robe, and his hands appear to be thick-scaled, five-digit reptilian hands, and wears black cloth for footwear. In his battle form, he is a thick-skinned beast, 120 feet tall, and possesses a somewhat human head in terms of shape and has ram horns protruding from it. He has six arms in his battle form and a massive, segmented tail. He can shape shift to look like a mortal or an animal.
Short Bio: Malum is a rather unpopular god and only worshipped by small cells of cultists around the mortal world. He is the god who makes the most frequent entries into the mortal world and is usually from summoning, to possess someone, or to lure mortals into sin against other gods. In extremely rare cases (only 2 so far), he has come to wage war on the mortal world in order to bring it under his demonic control, and has failed both times due to intervention from other gods and a fierce fight put up by humans. He is King over Hell and sits on a throne that seems to be comprised of flowing blood and the projected faces of the damned, and he commands demonic creatures. He can command the damned to do his wishes and he often frees them temporarily to spread his worship in exchange for not suffering damnation, but still being bound to hell as a demon. As long as he refrains from transgressions against other gods, he is free to do as he pleases and the other gods leave him alone. He is usually worshipped through summonings and human sacrifice. His worshipers and prophets teach reverence of hellish deities and refraining from worship of any other gods.
Origin: Malum was around ever since the Mortal Universe was created. He was materialized from nothing by Athanatos when he sought a way to punish mortals who had greatly transgressed during their lives. Over time, Malum became corrupted by his single purpose, to watch over the damned. He realized he could do more, he could control the damned, and he did so. He created the demons to extend his power in the Divine world and Mortal world, and this power further corrupted him, causing the demonic invasions that have existed almost since eternity, and he became corrupted enough to invade the mortal world twice.
Description of Hell: Hell has 10 levels, with each passing level increasing the temperature of fire and concentration of demonic creatures. It is arranged in a 3-dimensional fashion, with the levels seemingly acting like layers. The only way to go between levels is via portal, and there is a single portal per level. The 1st and outermost level, The Blackened Plains, contains relatively few demons and small, bonfire-like flames are occasionally seen, and it is mostly barren. The 2nd level, The Lower Temples, is the exact opposite of the 1st. It is filled with temples and weak demons, and is where the lower castes of demons and possessed souls go to worship Malum. The 3rd level, The Middle Temples, is where mid-caste demons live and worship, with more elaborate and larger temples than the 2nd. The 4th Level, The Priests Dwelling, is where high-caste demons, Hell Priests, and deceased Malum Prophets live and worship, and contains very elaborate and large temples, Hell's outer defenses, and the Baron's Tower, where demons stand guard to the Caverns of the Damned. The 5th, 6th, and 7th levels comprise of what is known as The Caverns of the Damned, where, depending on the severity of a Mortal's transgressions, damned souls are sent to burn for eternity. They have large volumes of of flames and the screams of the damned can be heard. The caverns are a webbed pattern, with few paths leading to The Center Dwellings, which are the 8th, 9th, and 10th levels. Demons of all kinds stand guard and monitor this area, and are controlled by an entity called "The Eternal Watchman". The 8th level, The Inner Fortification, is a complex structure which is similar to the interior of some kind of medieval castle, and has no exterior. It is chocked full of powerful demons guarding the entrance to the 9th and 10th levels. It is the exclusive dwelling of all spiritual demons controlled by The Seven Icons of Sin, and they dwell in the very air, awaiting orders to be sent into the mortal world. The 9th level, The Seven Pillars, is the area where Malum's right-hand entities, The Seven Icons of Sin, live and worship. The Pillars for which it is named are physical structures, with each Icon dwelling within one. In the center, a large Septagram is carved into the ground and it is the entrance to Malum's Throne. The 10th and final level is Malum's Throne Room, where Malum sits and is guarded by the highest caste of demon. It is the smallest in terms of space, but is quite large on its own. It is comprised of seven hallways and the faces of damned souls are projected onto the hallway walls. In the actual throne room, Malum's throne and seven pillars made of obsidian glass sit. At the roof of the room, there is a portal back to the Mortal world. Septagram carvings are commonly seen. Hell, when looked at from the outside, seemingly surrounds a barren plain that leads back to Unera. The path back to Unera is pitch black soil, and very, very few demonic creatures lurk outside.

Credit to Quavv for allowing Hell to be considered a domain. Credit to Quavv for permitting promotion of Malum to Titan.

Name: Una

God of: Soft Whispers

Titan or Deva? Deva

Powers and abilities: Can float weightlessly in the air, and cause others to hear whispers or share whispered words with others regardless if they are her own or not. She can also influence emotions of others in the form of gentle push, meaning she cant directly force an emotion upon a person, but she can subtly implant it with care. She can perfectly remember any secret whispered in her presence, and can form empathetic links between others. She can also dissolve into the wind if attacked.

Appearance(image if possible):

Image

Short Bio: Known usually as a Goddess of secrets, she is unique in fact that she also is sometimes considered a goddess of love, compassion, or deceit and sometimes serves as a messenger goddess. She is always soft spoken, and has never raised her voice even when angered. However, she normally keeps to herself, and usually avoids the politics and meanderings of her peers unless asked. Mortals pray to her when they wish to share their hearts or secrets with someone. She has been known to subtly change the hearts of nations when required

Tag, I'm actually gonna participate in this one, I swear.

I was thinking of making two apps - a Titan who's no more than a mindless animal, and a more intelligent Deva that serves and guides it. On that note, could I reserve the Cosmic Titan?

Name: Thaetol
God of: Death
Titan or Deva? Titan
Powers and abilities:
Teleportation
Invisibility
Reality and Time Warping ( passive ability, only if currently not invisible )
His presence makes things seem cold and lifeless as if all life and warmth tried to escape the path of the God
Thought, his powers may not suggest it, every God would feel the presence of immense power when near Thaetol
Personality: a very cryptic being, if asked a question he may just stare blankly, he may just ignore you, or he will give a vague answer in the cacophony of voices in which he speaks, he is not prone to action preferring to simply sit and watch as events unfold
Appearance(image if possible) Everyone sees him differently, he may take the appearance of a loved one, your enemy, a stranger, yours, but two details stay the same his walking staff and the fact his face doesn't have eyes, nose, mouth and other such things normal to any other face
Short Bio: He was there, when the first being died he also was there, was there more that could be said, no, he simply was there, idly watching as time wore on, he saw everything and will see everything until the Death of himself at the end of time, could there be said something more about his history, no, for he was always there

Name: Khov-Pharn
God of: Spacetimeand dimensions (Cosmic) with a lesser dominion over general cosmic forces.
Titan or Deva? Titan
Powers and abilities:
  • Short Range Portals: Connecting two "nearby" points in space, allowing to easily redirect ranged attacks and anything "projectile like"
  • Spatial Warping: Bending space to easily leverage distance, and twist around attacks and defenses.
  • Time Dilation: Accelerate and decelerate relative times, and even being able to put Devas into temporary stasis.
  • Probability Foresight: Khov-Pharn can see things that are about to happen based on observed events, allowing him to predict most likely attack and defense patterns among other things..
  • Reality Slicing: Khov-Pharn's main attack method, it will cut through anything, even nothingness itself gets rendered by this, however it is much more costly for Khov-Pharn to use than any other trick, and the burnout from continuous use is tremendous.
Khov-Pharn's combat abilities derive originally from his non-combat skills, only honed for speed and the ability to strike and more importantly, defend. That being said, his real power lays in overwriting what is real and being able to reshape the worlds and alter some of the rules governing them in areas. This power is tremendous within his own domain, enough so that he can defeat Athanatos while they are within Pharn. Outside of his domain, it is much less of a factor, and reality resists him by a greater degree (like trying to work with random dirt and water instead of clay), additionally he also possesses a smaller portion of the powers of his Devas, roughly at fifth of their maximum strength, and in no way combat applicable on the god scale. Although not strictly a power, he is an exceptional crafter of divine artifacts and architecture due to it being his pastime hobby to remake parts of his domain maintain the portals between the Mortal World and the Spiritual World along with frequent requests for teleportation devices, personal dimensions and other such trinkets (which he charges a metaphorical arm and a leg for since he has better things he could be doing).

Image
Typically, Khov-Pharn doesn't actually leave his domain, but rather sends an avatar which he controls via his will, but the avatar's offensive power is ultimately a lot less than an average Deva's power (can use minor versions of all his combat abilities aside from Reality Slicing).

Short Bio: Holding off on this since I kind of want to figure out some interaction with the other gods. Though currently I'm thinking that Khov-Pharn would be at least the second god to hold the name of Cosmic Titan, and that his predecessor fell when Athenatos's fell due to a horde of demonic creatures invading Unera. In reaction, the gods push back and establish a much better defense of Unera, including wrapping the Cosmic Domain around the other three domains to make an impassable barrier. Of course, that takes some collaboration with other players to figure out.

There is, in fact, a teapot in orbit around the sun between Earth and Mars's orbits'.

Domain Name: The Infinite Star Maze of Pharn
To outsiders, Pharn is an impossibility to comprehend. Rather than a landscape, it is a seemingly endless void with a jaw dropping display of stars in the background which can easily mesmerize a mortal for aeons. The space itself is riddled with twists and turns in space and time, entire dimensions lay within the domain and many of them are similar to natural disasters of the mortal world but where the denizens are not effected by, and often use them to their advantage. Any structure native to the plane is either made from starlight, folded space, or alien rock structures, or something along those lines (there is a pavilion made completely out of moonlight which Khov-Pharn will use for important guests in casual situations) of similarly unearthly materials. Somewhere within the warped weirdness of the Domain is a massive, cratered looking massive asteroid which is also the de-facto capital city of Pharn. The city appears to both be a flat plane and a sphere at the same time to those who can understand what they're looking at, to most however it looks as though it is a forever morphing, warping and changing expanse of disturbing rock like thing which doesn't even give proper feel of how close it is until you basically crash into it.
Description of territory: Pharn lays between Unera and Beyond Unera, a barrier between the godlands and the endless darkness. It stands as the first wall of defense for Unera, trapping and sending the denizens of the Beyond back to the darkness in which they spawned. From outside of Pharn, it looks fairly simple. A vast amount of space with a myriad of glistening stars turning the place into a dazzling spectacle from afar (many of the less intelligent demons have been known to simply stare at the Star Maze for ages, to the point that there are betting pools in the Spiritual World on how long before they either wander off, fall asleep or continue into the Maze), and unlike the stars of the Mortal World, many of the stars of Pharn move about at various rates, creating a firefly like aura. To enter Pharn from Beyond Unera, one must manage to get through the Veil Wall which covers the entire exterior of Pharn like a massive wall, but since the creation of the wall it has fallen into massive disrepair and many parts of it are easily breached by lesser demons.

The Beyond facing areas of Pharn are a celestial cesspool of dimensional and time traps, spatial twists and wandering bands of hunters who seek to capture and kill demons within the much safer borders of Pharn. Being the equivalent to the outback of Pharn, it suitably has cosmic monstrosities which prefer to live in the ruined and wild space of the outer layer, including drifting chunks of sentient spacetime and twisted creatures who have escaped from the Beyond and have over time become part of Pharn, many of which are the predecessors to many of the more horrific entities of Pharn. It is also in this area that some more crafty, medium leveled demons who can hold their own against more powerful worshipers have managed to convene and trade with the people of Unera, which Khov-Pharn monitors only enough to catch anything more suspicious beyond blackmarket trading and gossip, but this only occurs at the very edge of the domain right next to the Veil Wall.

The next layer in from the border is where the actually maintained, and much more tightly watched with professionally trained and armed guard worshipers (as well as Devas who so desire) and maintained defenses. The main difference between the outer layer and this layer, is that this is where the Infinite Star Maze truly begins. The layer is a completely designed and made trap which is quite literally on the astronomical level. It is also one of the few places where space is so locked down that no deity other than Khov-Pharn can teleport (or make a portal) in or out of it without getting redirected to one of the "visitor centers" (the other places being Khov-Pharn's personal retreats), and even teleporting through it can get you caught. This layer functions as the domain's main defense, which no demons pass without going through some very rigorous official channels and even will require proof of identity/rank from worshipers and many lesser Devas. This border wraps around the core of Pharn, though often it will merely let people travel from other Domains unhindered.

The Infinite Star Maze, is a combination of an elusive trap for unguided outsiders (certain items made by Pharn and his upper Devas will allow easy navigation of the Infinite Star Maze, like the Staff of Dimensions), but for those of Pharn, it as basically a giant map, which allows easy navigation of the domain, giving guidance on the best routes to take ("turn left at the next pocket dimension") and even providing one of the best star charts for a diviner or scryer to read. While the outer part of the star maze is the domain and Unera's defense against creatures of Beyond Unera, the inner parts is where the civilized part of Pharn lays.

**Any structure native to the plane is either made from starlight, folded space, or alien rock structures, or something along those lines (there is a pavilion made completely out of moonlight which Khov-Pharn will use for important guests in casual situations) of similarly unearthly materials. Somewhere within the warped weirdness of the Domain is a massive, cratered looking massive asteroid which is also the de-facto capital city of Pharn. Name of worshipers: Pharnen
Powers and abilities of worshipers: Not getting confounded by the craziness of the domain, after that it varies. Often depending on the Deva they most align with they will have some combination of lesser teleportation, space bending and minor time dilation, conjuring meteors, evoking celestial energies (gravity, moon/sun beams) void creation and divination (usually two or three of these, more powerful ones will have up to five).
Appearance of worshipers: Varied, many stick to a general humanoid shape, but there's a few outliers who are clearly aberrations and eldritch horrors, many of which are actually born from the few demonic entities who have settled into outer layer of Pharn.

Mostly done but got some WIP stuff.

Can the Athanatos's Staff of Dimensions be crafted by Korv-Pharn in trade for Athanatos helping with creating the Veil Wall and Infinite Star Maze for the extra Powah needed in making them? If not I'll just have it that Athanatos's predecessor made the deal and Athanatos "inherited" the staff.

I would like to anchor Setsa's place in the world. Right now the biography needs to be reworked. I want to have her, as in the first, with connections to the others gods- to have some history between them before the RP starts. Though there is plenty of time to work that out ICly.

Name: Setesa (or Setsis in a masculine form) (First of Serpents, Mother of Serpents, the Great Serpent)
God of: Serpents
Titan or Deva? Deva (lesser subserviant to Panos)
Powers and abilities: Setesa can shape shift into any serpent upon the land or sea or a form that combines features of any serpent. Thus she can do anything a serpent can do and in her godly form is the largest of them all. She does not like to take on a Human form believing it unbecoming of the Great Serpent to have legs and arms; none the less she can and in either male or female form. She does not currently have any demi-god children for her sexual practices among mortals to be known. She has an emphatic sense when it comes to all serpents and can read the emotions of other beings. She can influence serpents to action or disaction.
Appearance(image if possible):
Image
Short Bio: Her existence is owed to Panos**. While she does not hold authority over medicine, poison, childbirth, fertility, or protection she has expressed an interest in all four of those areas. She's protected a few mothers much as she would protect her own clutch. Typically royalty, their places, and cities. She loves conversation but in her preferred form facial expression is unreadable leaving the words alone to carry weight. She sees herself as an equalizer between the mightier and the weak for while lacking limbs her venom is most deadly. She likes to bestow advice but has also been known to be a bit persuasive of others. Her protectiveness, lack of striking unless threatened, and other factors has lent her to a benevolent image among mortals but they know serpents to be deadly foes if provoked. Setesa does not typically interfere in the natural order as practiced by the serpents descended from her- while she sees them all as extended family she understands that life grows and withers and believes that the mortality of her decedents was brought about from their birth in the mortal world though her early children where said to be truly titanic beings like herself with each generation producing smaller species before the natural order settled into being.*

*can remove that bit.

** @Anglomania: can Panos be her father?
