The 7 Nation Cup - Sonnel's Championship

Welcome
Welcome, one and all, to the 7 Nation Cup! This will serve as the megathread for all editions of this cup, until we run out of space or the format drastically changes.
All OOC chatter should be conducted elsewhere, either on the Sonnel RMB or the Sonnel Discord. This thread is limited to rosters, RPs, and scores.

Introduction
What is the 7 Nation Cup? Simply put, it's an invitational tournament played between the national teams of (eventually) seven selected Sonnelian nations.
It's a small tournament held in Drawkland (for the foreseeable future) during the regional phase of the World Cup cycle.

Format
The original format of the 7 Nation Cup will be used for the finals of the tournament. However, with interest increasing, qualifying formats will now be employed.
The host of the cup will automatically qualify for the seven nation group stage. The remaining participants will be placed into multiple groups to compete for the final six spots.
The qualification process is not set in stone, but should be a single or double round-robin with the top teams qualifying to the seven team group stage.
The qualifying seven participants will play a single round-robin group stage, totaling to six games per team. Tiebreakers: Points, H2H, GD, H2H GD, RP Bonus "coin flip."
At the conclusion of the group stage, the Top 4 teams will be placed in a seeded semifinal. The semifinal will be contested single elimination.
The two winning teams from the semifinal will play a single winner-takes-all Championship match for the title. A third-place match will also be held.

Scorination
All scorination, regardless of host, will be done using xkoranate 0.3.3 with the SQIS formula. Additive style mods will be in use.
The current KPB/IAC ranks will be used, however, the values will be scaled down slightly to be more equitable for teams that don't participate in the World Cup.
Rosters and RPs will be graded and given a generous bonus, as this is a short and backburner competition. Any activity shall be awarded in turn.
While this is dependent on host, I personally will mostly scorinate two matchdays per cutoff in qualifying, one matchday in the finals, with daily cutoffs.

FIELD FORMATION
TEAM HISTORY
This is the official roster, featuring the Elite Eleven, an independent squad of Drawkians who have played all sports at a professional level for a confusingly long time. The old Kick Corps has been essentially removed, the players let go, and replaced by this squad of ridiculously skilled, annoyingly arrogant, and possibly immortal sportsmen. Nobody knows where they came from, or why DISC decided to replace the Kick Corps with them, but here they are. Just don't ask the baseball fans about them.
Drawkian soccer, and indeed, sporting in general, is mostly offensive-minded. This is reflected in the style indicator and in the formation. Drawkian soccer has not really been exposed to outside influences, and thus may look or feel strange to those used to "normal" football. Nevertheless, the Eleven are still good at what they do, and prize in an enduring game, moving the ball around nearly constantly and keeping energy going, aiming to tire out the opposing team. Of course, Drawkians aren't humans, but you can read about that elsewhere. Despite the fact that usually soccer is a female-only sport in Drawkland, the Elite Eleven have overturned that caveat as the higher-ups deemed them a suitable replacement in the interim as the real Kick Corps hides away for a few cycles and gets their shit back together.

The Associazione Calcistica di Juvencus(Juven Football Association) received an invitation to the first ever 7 Nation Cup, with the issue being they accepted the invitation too late, as all first team international players are either back at their teams or on vacation. With no other choice in hand, the Association recruited players from the several Campionato di Juvencus teams to fill up the spot of the first team internationals, thus respecting their well-deserved break. Coach Scordato did however call up some of the first team internationals, in particular those that don't get much play time when the A-team is playing.

Game tactics:Just like the first team, this squad is also predominately aggressive, however since these players are a bit slower than the first team, a lot more thought needs to go with their game plans and strategy and as such, not as aggressive counter-attacking strategies will be used. This team will rely more on shots outside the box because of its pretty strong shooters, in particular Bandini as well as the prodigies in Agua and Santini. Any player is an excellent penalty taker, with Agua being the preferred option though. As for free kick takers, Santini or Porras should do the trick.

The following is the Ghirapuri national team, freshly assembled for 7NC. Football in Ghirapur is among the many ancestor traditions the androids keep alive out of reverence (though it's the secondary sport, to cricket); that said, very few records of any kind, nevermind football matches and tactics, exist from the ancestor's time. So their play is modeled to mirror the modern multiverse... often to improbably literal extremes.

As a result, the 23 competitors (and the manager) that make up this team are the best Ghirapuri with shapeshifting capabilities currently plying their trade in the Chrome League. Why shapeshifting abilities, you ask? They've taken the forms of the 23 best players in the world (and the best manager), according to the renowned Galacticos Index. It should go without saying that these are imperfect imitations--in quality and style of play, in personality, in demeanor--but the visual replication is uncannily spot-on.

Sure, each of the Ghirapuri have their own day-to-day personas and personalities they use at work and around their loved ones. But when you put on the mask... it's difficult not getting into character. There's a toxic allure to the deception, even though each knows it's plenty well obvious that they're not the Real Deal. And that's how you end up with these Sonnelian androids splitting into cliques founded in Rushmore and Atlantian Oceania--Close and Tidesson were immediately joined at the hip as Brinemouth Boys (Kuznetzov was off doing something with a fish), and naturally the Cosumarites playing in Nephara and the Nepharim playing in Cosumar crowded around them. Moxham wouldn't stop giving Mercator shit for CCFC's recent successes over Eastweald, what with the two-point margin that won them the Harlighet Ligan. The keeper bristled silently and stared at a fixed point slightly above Moxham's right shoulder, while Svensson kept a trained eye on them to make sure shit didn't start. The last thing they needed after a wet fart of a draw was imagined drama breaking out.

The trio of Eurans had manifest destiny'd themselves a corner of the locker room, varyingly preening themselves and pumping iron. Stronk doesn't just happen, you know. At least they'd occasionally crack a joke about Valgard being off doing something with a banana.

Eleonora and Ocokoljic were having an intense conversation, but fuck if I could understand anything either of them said.

And so it fell to Tlanx-Nulzk Hal to sigh and pinch the bridge of their nose. They'd taken free transfers from the Legaskari and Nepharim second tier to the Champion's Cup quarterfinals. They could easily handle this sneeze of a tourney! But gosh, was it so much harder reigning in these world-stopping personalities than it was inspiring a couple of jobbers.

The first game of the 7 nation cup proved to be a very successful test of new strategies by domestic talent. A more thought out showcase of skill saw the gli attaccanti emerge on top on a very balanced game. The first half was a bit slow at first, with chances from MVP of the game Annick Porras going all over the place. A very possessive yet aggressive game slowly emerged from this and Agua managed to capitalise off of it after an excellent throughball from Michelangelo Santini. With the first half's good showing now left behind, the team came to the pitch with a great deal of morale for the second half. The same very possessive gameplay ensued, which eventually led to the "locking" of victory by Annick Porras through yet another excellent Santini through-ball. The downside of this match was a light Georges Bandini injury which will leave him out of action for the next 2 matchdays.

The test was repeated again on the second matchday of the cup, with the same roster being brought up and the same tactics being used. Thought out, highly possessive yet agressive play, which seems to be pretty unstoppable in the cup so far. The game had a very eventless first half since both teams needed quite some time to adjust to each other, which slowly unfolded by the end of the first half, when Pan Qiu missed a chance from inside the box. The second half proved to be quite the dramatic spectacle with Vinicio Agua scoring his 2nd goal of the competition after a great cross by Santini, who gave his 3rd assist. The opposition managed to equalise quickly after a great play by both Dai Hai and Duan Wei which saw the latter score on the one on one. A series of chances followed, but eventually the gli attaccanti managed to secure the 3 points after Porras' through ball found Napoletani with the young prodigy scoring the winner of the game.

Final Day clash with Juvencus to determine if Silver Beach can advance to the 7 Nations Cup Semifinals

DRAWK CITY, DRAWKLAND- The Hebrew Republic has been competing here at the first edition of the 7 Nations Cup, which are the planetary championships for Sonnel. The planet's top 7 teams in soccer have descended onto the lands of the regional leader, Drawkland, to answer a simple question- which team is the best in Sonnel? Of course, the FASB has marked this one of the two 'priority' competitions for Silver Beach, as we strive to have a national team outside of the WCC Circuit- with the Independent Associations Championship functionally as our World Cup, and this as the all-important regional championships. Of course, for WCC members and regional giants like Drawkland and Juvencus, who have each played in multiple World Cups proper, we do not know how they prioritize this competition. But the priority is clear for Siakam- let's establish a benchmark that Silver Beach can at least compete at home, domestically, in a competition such as this one.

And of course, the goal here has to be reaching the semifinals. This is a competition, at this point, that we probably do not have the talent to win- Drawkland and Juvencus are both too strong, too deep, too experienced, for Silver Beach to compete at their level, for now. But Kiggwe Siakam's spirits are up. "The level of competition in Sonnel, even if not a big sporting region, is fierce and competitive." The manager told Silver Standard reporters. "We have seen it throughout this competition- excellent travel from the fan bases, high quality competition on the pitch, teams want to win this trophy. Regional competitions are special- winning against your neighbors is a special thing to do, and we believe that long-term, we will consistently be competing for the trophy. Our goals here, of course, are to advance and reach the semifinals of this competition. We have built a good youth base, one that got to the quarterfinals of the U18 World Cup."

And after getting back from Siovanija & Teusland, Kiggwe Siakam now has a senior squad that is ready to compete in international competition. And throughout the first 5 games of this full round robin group stage, Silver Beach has competed well. 1 win, 3 draws, and a loss is not a bad record. They haven't been world beaters of course, but we have been competitive. The lone victory came against Kwangtzu Guānán on Matchday 4, a 2-1 victory for the Silverians that might turn out to be a huge moment, the moment that took the Silverians a massive step closer to the semifinals. Of course, they followed that up on Matchday 5 with a loss of the same score to Drawkland, the co-favorites and host nation. Alongside draws against Mushcap, Ghirapur, and Fleuronordica, the Silverians find themselves with 6 points after 5 matches, with one match left. Unfortunately for the Silverians, it is against Juvencus, the other favorite to lift the first edition of this trophy.

The Silverians find themselves two points ahead of both Mushcap and Fleuronordicia, two teams who will play each other on this final matchday. All games on the final matchday, of course, will kick off at the same time. Here are the scenarios. If that game ends in a draw, then Silver Beach, regardless of our result against Juvencus, will advance to the semifinals, to take on Juvencus or Drawkland. Silver Beach has the advantage in goal differential right now- +/-0, while Mushcap is -2 and Fleuronordicia is at -5. If there is a winner in that game, regardless of who wins, Silver Beach will need at least a draw against Juvencus to advance. A draw would put us in a favorable position. IF we get a draw, Mushcap would have to win by at least two, and possibly three, to advance over Silver Beach with current tiebreakers. If we get a draw and Fleuronordicia is the winner, they'll have to win by 5 against Mushcap to advance, which seems unlikely. And of course, a Silver Beach upset victory would render the other game irrelevant, as we'd both advance and clinch 3rd in the overall table.

Kiggwe Siakam said that the Silverians are not going to pay attention to other scores. "We come into this game, against an extremely skilled opponent in Squadra Nazionale, with our own destiny in our hands. We can't be thinking about what we cannot control- what will happen elsewhere, will happen elsewhere. We can remain in control of our own destiny if we can come out here and do whatever it takes to get a result against Juvencus. We will have to remain sound and stout in the back. Players like Vinicio Agua will be quite a handful to handle in the back, but we must trust our defenders, who have played so well in this tournament, to do their jobs. We've gotta take our chances. We won't have the majority of possession here, but we must make our possession count. It will be tough, it will be an uphill climb- we are underdogs, admittedly. But don't doubt this small country- this team is capable of achieving great heights."

Silver Beach backs into 7 Nations Cup Semifinals as David v. Goliath two-legged tie looms with Drawkland

DRAWK CITY, DRAWKLAND- The Hebrew Republic, despite all the challenges and struggles of their predicament, have found themselves in a place where they want to be- in the semifinals of the 7 Nation Cup. It was a long and difficult road for the Silverians to get to this point. Of course, entering the tournament, the top two sides were always going to be Drawkland and Juvencus, the region's strongest WCC members, and they have lived up to their billing. Each of those sides have won 5 games in this group stage and drawn only once, when Drawkland and Juvencus battled to a 1-1 draw on Matchday 3 in what was almost certainly a preview of this tournament's final. The other 5 sides are here, competing for a regional title yes, but scrapping mostly against each other, to limit the damage when they play Drawkland and Juvencus, and fighting each for a knockout stage berth, from which miracles can come true.

The Silverians, led by Kiggwe Siakam, have had some successes here so far. They have struggled to get to this point. 1 win, 3 draws, and 2 losses- just enough to finish in fourth and face off, across two legs both in Drawk City, here in Drawkland. It all came down to the final matchday- two teams chasing the Silverians, who were playing each other. A win for either would likely have been enough on the day to put them through to the semifinals, and send Kiggwe Siakam's squad home early with matches to play if we could not get a result against Juvencus- which we didn't. But what a wild and crazy game that was against the Squadra Nazionale, am I right? It would be Juvencus who would start off strong and storm to an early lead here in Drawkland, when Annick Porras, the grizzled veteran, scored the opening goal in just the 11th minute. In the 17th minute, it was Bandini that scored, making the score 2-0 to Juvencus. It looked as if they were running away with it.

But just when all seemed lost for the Silverians on this day, just as when it seemed that they only hope they'd have of advancing is scoreboard watching the Mushcap game and hoping for the game to stay scoreless, the Silverians roared back. Kiggwe Siakam was still full of energy on the sideline, and he was waving his hands at fans, encouraging them to start cheering, even though there wasn't much to cheer about. They obliged him, however, and the Silverians came back with energy. Our people were playing fearlessly against our continental neighbors, and it was only a matter of time before the Silverians would score. It would be Netali Rosenberg who would get the Silverians kickstarted, with her scoring in the 32nd minute. It would be a header in the 39th minute from Gabriele Zundel that would make the score 2-2, and brought the Silverians back to level pegging at halftime.

Silver Beach came out in the second half, pushing. Of course, a draw would probably be enough to get through, but if Mushcap scored twice, things could be taken out of their hands. So the Silverians, while not in all out attack mode, were pushing forward. But Juvencus is a squad with the type of skill to come forward quickly. A Zundel pass out of the back was poor, and picked off by the teenager, Vinicio Agua. He went straight towards goal, one on one with the keeper, and absolutely buried it, giving Juvencus fans a 3-2 lead in the 57th minute. The panic was registering on the faces of the Silverians. Fans checking scores, seeing the other game still at 0-0, nervous. Just one goal in the other game, at this point, would put Silver Beach from 4th place to fifth, and out of the tournament altogether. Kiggwe Siakam made an offensive substitution, bringing on Shlomo Novok for Federman to play central striker.

The youngster Novok made an immediate impact for the Silverians. Siakam knew that his team needed to push forward- they were technically through at the moment, but they were the prisoner of events in a different stadium in Drawkland at the moment. Any cheap deflection, any strike, in a game they weren't participating in could eliminate the Silverians if the scoreline held. So Silver Beach came at Juvencus with everything we had. We poured players forward, and somehow avoided the devastating Juvencus counter-attack. It would be Novok himself who would score in the 68th minute to make it 3-3. But it was the 74th minute that was truly shocking. Silver Beach, still trying to advance on its own and not have to worry about tiebreakers, kept attacking. Novok was fouled, just outside the box. The team lined up for a free kick- with Federman out, it would be Mariana Frankel who would line up over the ball to strike it. She stood, next to Rosenberg and Novok, and she ran up and hit an absolute beauty. It curled into the upper corner, and the Silverian end, which they were attacking towards, exploded. She ran and jumped into the crowd as pundits and Juvencus players were stunned. Silver Beach led 4-3, with just over 15 minutes left before full-time. The other game didn't matter anymore, although it was goalless.

Unfortunately for the Silverians, their defense could not hold up against Juvencus. Juvencus showed why they, alongside Drawkland, are considered the class of Sonnel. They did not get rattled, even though they momentum was away from them. They were more talented, more focused, and better prepared. They wanted to show, emphatically, that they would, and should, be favored to reach the tournament final. Michelangelo Santini scored in the 85th minute to make it 4-4 on the night. Of course, at that moment, Silverians began to check their phones- it was still nil-nil in the Mushcap game. A point, barring a late pair of goals from Mushcap(or five from Fleuronordicia), should be enough to take them over the line, even if there was one goal scored in the other game. Unfortunately for the Silverians, however, things went from bad to worse. A handball on the line from Admon Kahan saw a penalty given, and Kahan was extremely fortunate not to see red. Vinicio Agua scored the winner from the spot in the 89th minute. The game ended a few minutes after that. When word got around the stadium however that the other game had ended 0-0, Silverian fans started cheering- on to the semifinals!

Kiggwe Siakam, in his pre-match press conference for Drawkland, praised his opponents. "It's important, in this sport, to emphasize sporting relationships- between nations, between neighbors. Of course, Sonnel is not as large as Atlantian Oceania, or Rushmore. But putting on tournaments like this is important. It grows the game, it grows sporting bonds, it grows cultural bonds- my thanks, and the thanks of the entire FASB, goes out to Drawkland for putting this tournament on. It is certainly doing wonders for the game in Silver Beach- these games are getting even more attention than our games in the last IAC. You'll see excitement among the Silverians here for these two games against Drawkland, for a spot in the final."

The captain, Ixaka Hamutal, spoke further about it. "We, of course, all know the David v. Goliath is overdone- but here, of course, it's almost literal. We're footballing minnows, and Drawkland are the footballing kings of Sonnel, tournament hosts. They'll have hugely partisan crowds in their favor for both legs. And, of course, they're literally bigger than us. But everything like that is thrown out. Who can be the better team across 180 minutes? The group stages do not matter anymore. Those standings can be thrown out. Our squad has two options- we can been intimidated by the favorites and host nation, or we can go out there and fight like hell. Leave everything on the line, make our country proud, and whatever the result is, is whatever the result is."

Of course, with both games in Drawkland, there is no away goals rule here- just strictly aggregate. Can the Silverians pull off what would surely be one of the greatest upsets in our not-so illustrious history? We'll see. Both games will be at Corps Central Pitch, which holds just a hair over 150,000. The FASB estimates that around 15-20,000 Silverian fans will be at the game- which will make the stadium somewhere between 85 and 90% in favor of the home side, which makes sense. This is a team that likes to get forward, that likes to attack- how will that work against Drawkland? The Kick Corps like to get forward as well, and have a lineup designed to maintain pressure on the opponent. We'll see how the Silverians counteract that, how we find the gaps against this team. Of course, the biggest thing in our favor might be the lack of pressure. The pressure is all on Drawkland- and being at home piles it on. Anything less than an appearance in the final would be a failure for fans of this team, and once they are there, they expect to win. Will that pressure get to them? This sport is a mental game, and if they feel the nerves, if they feel the pressure, if they stretch and try to do too much... Then opportunities could be there for Siakam's squad.

I wouldn't advise betting your house on the Silverians. But take this for what it is- a reward for their struggles through the knockout stages. The chance to play high-level, knockout stage football in a competitive international tournament, something that a Silverian team hasn't done in many generations. That, in and of itself, is an achievement and a badge of honor. Watch the lads and ladies play for their country, and whatever happens, happens. As always, of course, go Silver Beach!

1-1 draw with Drawkland sets up decisive second leg at the 7 Nations Cup Semifinals

DRAWK CITY, DRAWKLAND- This is what tournament football is all about. A long, intense battle here in the 1st leg where Silver Beach and Drawkland could not be separated. Although the home side was almost certainly the better team on the day, outperforming Kiggwe Siakam's side in almost every statistical category, the one where it counted- the scoreboard, Silver Beach and Drawkland found themselves as equals. It was an interesting match strategy by Kiggwe Siakam, and you could see that although many fans might be content to have gotten to the semifinals, he was not. He knows what it's like to win a trophy at the international level- having won the U18 World Cup with the Usana Kadongo Kamu just last cycle. He wants to experience that feeling again, the feeling of winning, the absolute joy that comes with winning a championship. A prodigee of the Cosumarite Brian Emerson, the manager who has dominated the Banijan Soccer League with Herzegovina City FC over the past four seasons, you know his expects are always going to be sky high. Title or bust. And boy, he showed his energy here today.

The 20,000 strong Silverian contingent, of course, sang their national anthem with gusto and noise, although the 130,000 or so Drawkians who sang their anthem afterwards boomed it throughout the stadium. The first of two home games for Drawkland, where the home side would be looking to win on aggregate. The team that came into the tournament as betting favorites, playing in front of their own fans. Of course, this means different things to different competitors. To Drawkland, of course, and Juvencus, neither team sent their first-choice XI. Of course, that makes sense. With World Cup Qualifying over the horizon, this is a warmup tournament for that. But for the non-WCC members of Sonnel, like Silver Beach, this tournament means absolutely everything. The chance to finally bring a championship home, to establish themselves among their much longer established neighbors in Sonnel, it is that type of passion that is brought.

And even though, ostensibly, this isn't top priority for Drawkland, you wouldn't have known it by watching the match. Yea, is this the lineup they'd put out for a World Cup game? Probably not. But well over 100,000 Drawkians were loud and in voice for good portions of the game, and the absolute effort being put by all the players on the pitch, on both sides, helped show exactly what this game meant to both sides. Drawkland started with a lot of possession. Remember, of course, when we said in our preview that the nerves might get to Drawkland? Well, for the first 15 or so minutes, the nerves and pressure of the semifinals did get to them. This doesn't mean they were playing fearfully- far from it. But it meant that they were playing a bit too tunnel visioned, with uncontrolled energy. Very little balance in the lineup. They had the ball in the Silverian half of the pitch for almost this entire time, and although they got 5 shots off in the first 15 minutes, compared to none for Silver Beach, none particularly troubled the keeper- all of them went well over the top of the net. They were hitting the ball with far too much power.

Of course, those nerves go away, and although the pressure of a home semifinal was real, they began to settle into the game. They were having strong bouts of possesion, and the Silverians seemed to be on their back heel. Drawkland finally put a shot on goal in the 22nd minute. Drawkland is extremely dangerous crossing the ball. When you have people as large as Jaxon Madison and Mike Rodney in the middle, no matter how well they are covered, they are open. It seemed as if each of them had at least 18 inches over any Silverian defender, and it showed on the day. Siakam had an interesting strategy to try and cover those men. Silver Beach's defenders would not try to outleap the Drawkians- that was a foolish mistake. But, of course, it was about discipline and defending. Getting right into their personal space, but without fouling. Not letting them get a clean jump at the ball. Light contact. It was helped, of course, by a referee who was letting a lot of contact go- a more strict referee would have called quite a few fouls on those Silverian defenders. But that was that. They did not get clean looks off of their headers, and Raphael Yaremka was not truly changed in the 1st half.

The Silverians only got one shot off in the first half. Although they went into the break ties at 0-0, Drawkland was dominating, statistically. Almost 70% of the possession, outshooting the Silverians 8-1, putting 3 shots on target to 0 for Silver Beach. Not the type of performance that would be sustainable for Kiggwe Siakam. He knew that his team was not built to last, especially in a 2 legged affair, 180 minutes under duress and not allow any goals. They needed to generate some offense, and fast. That is why, at halftime, he looked to make a tactical substitution. Off came Gabi Segal. And on came the 22 year old, Matthias Lisander. It was a slightly surprising subsitution- Segal has been a mainstay in this lineup all tournament long. But Siakam got what he wanted, what he needed. Energy in the midfield, break the pressure on the Silverian back line.

Lisander made a world of difference. He was able to keep up pace with the Elite Eleven brought out by Drawkland. He was able to frustrate the opponents. Step into the passing lanes, maintain possession, win 50/50 balls against their physically larger opponents. And slowly, but surely, Silver Beach worked its way into a rhythm. We got our first shot on goal in the 50th minute, when Netali Rosenberg ripped one from just outside the 18 yard box, forcing the home goalkeeper, Septimus Xander, to make a diving save. Avigdor Federman had a golden opportunity in the 62nd minute. He was able to time a run perfectly as an overhead ball came from Netali Rosenberg and landed at the veteran striker's feet. All of a sudden, he was one on one with the goalkeeper, staring straight at the Silverian fan section. But he tried to be too fancy with it. He looked to chip the goalkeeper, but he could not bring the ball down as it went over the net, harmlessly, for a goal kick.

Here Silver Beach was, pressuring, keeping themselves in this game. But Drawkland would soon strike. In the 68th minute, a corner kick was awarded after a long shot was hit over the top of the net by the Silverian goalkeeper. It was extremely tough to cover these Drawkians on corner kicks, as it required almost perfect positioning, each and every time. But Drawkland outsmarted the Silverians here. As the captain, Roger Apollo, swung the ball in, Dominic Suthers essentially set what would have been a screen in basketball. By taking a step back and getting in the way of the Silverian defender, Nicholas Kingston ran around him, and with his man a step behind him, he essentially had a free header. He was not going to let this go to waste. He buried the header into the top corner of the net, giving the goalkeeper almost no chance of saving it. Yaremka watched the ball go into the back of the net, and the lead was with Drawkland.

But you have to give this to Silver Beach. After going so long and then conceding, they did not give up. They did not quit. They knew that there was plenty of time left in this match, and indeed, in this tie. They started to push, but, crucially, did not expose themselves to a counter-attack. They wanted to tie this game at 1 goal a piece, but going down 2-0 here would essentially seal the deal, making the 2nd leg nothing more than a formality. But as the Silverians pushed, they would be rewarded. In the 83rd minute, Ixaka Hamutal, a winger, was able to whip a cross in, behind the Drawkland defense. Federman had a step on the man marking him, and he attempted to head the ball towards the near post. Drawkland's goalkeeper, Septimus Xander, was there. But the rebound went to the middle of the pitch, to Mariana Frankel. She hit the ball first time, and buried it into the back of the net. The Silverian end of the pitch exploded in cheers of ecstasy. It was 1-1, and that is how the game would finish.

Of course, the excitement for that builds. What will happen? In the other semifinal, Ghirapur pulled an upset over heavily favored Juvencus in the first leg, winning 3-2. Will chaos reign here in Drawkland? Or will the favorites re-establish themselves in the second legs of these semifinals, and give us the Juvencus v. Drawkland final clash that everyone has assumed would happen? We'll find out soon enough, here in Drawk City, when Silver Beach faces its do or die match against Drawkland.

Tlanx-Nulzk Hal sighed as they scrolled through twii.tur--an app that while established in the 'sporting' regions, had only just become a fad in Ghirapur. "3-2" was one of the very first memes to catch on in their particular segment, after the third consecutive match with Juvencus ended with that scoreline (after 90 minutes). Would it have deactivated them to be a bit more excited over being in the final rather than focusing on a little statistically quirk?

But then, Chimera Moxham had made a good point--of course they're in the finals. The team is put together of the best players in the world, how could they not make it? Hard not to get things done when Desya is thunderbastarding in goals left and right. Some might make mention of the four games they didn't win in the group stage, but that was merely a factor of getting these strong, disparate personalities to mesh. Managing ultra-superstars is no easy gig, but it was one they had risen to meet. No, not even meet, but gloriously surpassed! And here, in Seven Stars Stadium, their destiny would be fulfilled.
