Harlighet Ligan Matchday 1
TOP TAKEAWAYS: Ah, can you smell it in the summer breeze? The smell of freshly-cut grass? HL football is back, baby. Take in the scenes from opening weekend: FC Kaldukosic go up to Eastweald and pull off the season's first shocker (already) 4-2 at Old Weldenskirgen, Pelethas United whip a sold-out Xanadu Dome into a frenzy with a furious second half comeback from 3-0 down to tie Cassandra City 4-4 on Gudrun Crowley's late screamer, and FC Ziemelu Skaida's novelty man-marking system leave Ramusok United chasing shadows. Skaida aren't the only newly-promoted side to make an impressive start. Centus Serpents also win 1-0 on the road, downing Alliance with a bending shot from - who else - their Sekundar Ligan ringleader Farrokh Adikhari. And that was only the early afternoon games! The two evening showcases are full of excitement and goals, Alexander Kárpáty getting off the mark to a fast start as champs CCFC blazed past OAS Royal (pressure's on, Syl Denhardt) and Klyde slotting four past Mallox to renew consternation over the Tigers' underachieving defense. Griffin Riordan's brace wasn't enough to bail them out this time, with elder Brenecian countryman Jackson Cornthatch thumping a volley over Lone Va'Nega in the 86th minute to win it for Klyde and celebrating with a cringe-worthy robot dance attempt.
Harlighet Ligan Matchday 2
TOP TAKEAWAYS: Small sample size, but Klyde have to be near the top of the power rankings after rattling off impressive wins against Mallox and now Crawford City FC. With the jagged edges of a bedding-in season behind them, Corey Simmons Jr.'s re-imagined attack is now starting to look like a work of art - Ozaria Gandhi's quality the linchpin in the final third. Surprisingly, the only other two teams with six points so far this season are AC Holmenkollen and Ziemelu Skaida. Both are still expected to end up in the relegation battle, but points gained here will count just the same in that regard as the high-pressure ones at the end of the season. Promisingly, both defenses look legit - the hallmark of a survivor. Shad Vylon has continued his stellar play from last season in goal for Holmenkollen and Ziemelu's center back pairing of Capsin Sibuc and Boleslaw Brodecki are playing at a high level right away. Moving down the table, it was a week for stoppage time stunners. Teenage midfielder Guinevere for Olask Islanders (Dimitra Exarchopolous then added a further exclamation point for 3-1) against slow-starting OAS Royal, Ram United's Corby Wheeler from the spot to leave Real empty-handed in Azuris, as well as a deflected Corsair Gust grass-cutter that allowed Mallox to deny an invigorated-looking FC Kaldukosic a deserved three points from their home opener. Despite having to settle for a draw at the death, FC Kaldukosic scoring four goals in consecutive matches is a good sign after how they struggled for goals last season. Cillian Najdorf will be take consolation that new striker Aidan Denarian opened his HL account this week with a well-taken diagonal strike from the center of the box - hopefully the first of many.
Champions' Cup - Playoff Round, Leg 1
Real Azuris 1-2 Fontvielle Impact (VLD)
Globe Cup - Playoff Round, Leg 1
Cassandra City 0-1 Rammsissil (VIL)
Series B Champions' Cup - Playoff Round, Leg 1
Char Sara FC (VAL) 1-3 Ziemelu Skaida
Another narrow 2-1 home loss isn't what Real Azuris had in mind when they sought to bounce back midweek with the Impact in town. Fjóla Sigurjónsdóttir scored again, but you can't make a habit of conceding two goals in your home matches and expect to make it far in UICA. Might the Azurians have been too quick to sell off a Champions' Cup winner and World Cup veteran like Kurt Wolff? They'll face a tall task to advance to the group stage proper now, traveling to Valladares for the second leg. Cassandra City won't have it much easier in their Globe Cup pursuit after similarly falling 1-0 to Rammsissil at home. Cosumarite goalkeeper Balbulus Grimwade was massive for the Vilitan side, denying Vega Zeale-Riddick at the near post three times in the second half. Finally, in the SBCC, continued their bright start to the season with a convincing win in Valanora. Xandria Springgate's sumptuous curler from the corner of the box was a highlight of the day.
Harlighet Ligan Matchday 3
TOP TAKEAWAYS: Klyde's free-flying attack is finally grounded by Maia Abylon and the Islanders, who capitalize late when Fion Tzyzakoos drives her foot through an immaculate Jade Irwin through ball to break a 0-0 deadlock. Already sweating after consecutive losses to open the season, Syl Denhardt is able to breathe a massive sigh of relief as his OAS Royal terrorize the Serpents. Seven goals is about what you would expect when you put one of the paciest teams in the league (Kahara, Marsteller, Møller...) up against undoubtedly its oldest and slowest back line (Jurist, Lineker, Vadimenko...). A match-up made in heaven (or hell, if you're from Centus). The fact that the rout also included a debut senior goal for Royal academy graduate Sylvester Sundvik was just icing on the cake. Longtime OAS star Corey Simmons III did notch an assist in his first visit to Crowley Memorial as an opposing player, but it was already 7-2 by that point. More eyes were probably on the other side of the capital - the Millennium Miracle battle between Ramusok United and Cassandra City always a spirited one. But it ended up being a rather uneventful slugfest. Royal evidently used up the capital's entire allotment of goals, as United hit a wall time and time again as they tried to brute-force their way through Cassandra's athletic back line. Ursula Rowan's early free kick goal would remain the difference-maker, a nice measure of revenge for the Reds after losing the rivalry series last season. Meanwhile, Stoneshore United are still searching for their first point after catastrophically choking away a late 1-0 lead over Eastweald to lose 2-1 at home. Domé Odóma has scored in every match and looks like he will be a star for them, but so far the Greys ("lump it up to Domé") are a one-trick pony. Finally, Real Azuris lost their third consecutive match by a 2-1 scoreline, unable to find a way past a resolute Samaj team out on the plains, and a juicy striker's duel between Riordan's Mallox and ex-Mallox star Kárpáty's CCFC finished 3-3 after the dust settled on some late fireworks.

Rammsissil 2-1 Cassandra City

Harlighet Ligan Matchday 4
TOP TAKEAWAYS: Week 4 brings several firsts. First win for Stoneshore United (how else but from two set-piece goals off the foreheads of big Stonewall defenders). First goal of the campaign for preseason Player of the Year favorite Brian Bond as Eastweald explode back into peak tiki-taka sharpness, too much firepower for Ramusok United to keep up with despite a golazo from countryman William Stone. First hat trick of the Härlighet Ligan season too! Actually, three of them. Arthur Velasquez's technically came first, though the Centus poacher benefited from a questionable penalty call on Lynul-Savar Mal and a Layla Montgomery backpass straight into his path. The Serpents lost anyways though, unable to get pressure on the ball as young Henry Hollifield orchestrated things from midfield to his heart's content. The other two hat tricks were more impressive, but canceled each other out. New Keenan Athletic winger Makenna Scripps, top scorer in Sekundar Ligan with the Aces last year, scored the first two goals of their match against visiting OAS Royal, who'd overlooked Scripps in their efforts to contain opposite winger Elodie Sade. Royal would recover though, wresting back control of the match in midfield and sending one-way traffic at the Checkers' goal for long stretches. By the hour mark, Sen Marsteller had three goals unanswered to make it 4-2. "We easily could've given up there," Keenan captain Sade would say after the match. "But we knew that Makenna was feeling herself today, so we just kept trying to push the ball out to the left and wait for her to do something magical. She's magical when she's confident." The strategy paid off. Dinko Spisic released Scripps on goal in the 70th minute with a backheel flick of Sade's cross, and the Eastfielder made no mistake, taking a touch to open up the angle and firing low and hard past Aswad Munif Shalhoub. After Scripps' hat trick got Athletic back within a goal, it felt inevitable that they would equalize, which is exactly what happened - teenager Svelta Byfuglien cleaning up a goal-mouth scramble on the last chance of the game.
Harlighet Ligan Matchday 5
TOP TAKEAWAYS: Two of Cosumar's stingiest defenses clashed amidst a thickly-fogged morning in Stoneshore and... a nine-goal shootout ensued? What??? Stoneshore United and FC Kaldukosic both went down to ten men after an 18th minute fracas over... well, we're actually not quite sure what they were fighting about. But that probably helped. In the end, Stoneshore picked up their second on the bounce. For their part, Kal have shown promising signs so far, but need to turn their performances into points. Overlooking this outlier of a match, it'd been three draws in a row since their eye-opening win at Eastweald in the season opener. Moving up the east coast to the capital, two 1-0 matches were played, both decided by set-pieces. OAS Royal's U21 international defender Astrid Omenihu's was impressive, a snapping bullet header off a Marchant free kick, whereas Ramusok United lost because no one could stop 6"5 Willem Maersk from climbing to meet a lofted Pelethas corner. Mallox also grinded out a 1-0 win in their first Gellano Fief Derby against Centus Serpents in over a decade. The boisterous supporters at The Orange Palace were up for this one, displaying a tifo of a triumphant tiger holding a snake in its mouth - which proved to be accurate foreshadowing. Industrious midfielder Hernan Dé was their hero this day, rewarded for his tireless running with a tap-in provided by an unselfish Riordan. The third member of the Gellano Fief triumvirate, Eastweald, completed a perfect day for Mallox fans by falling back down to Earth in Samaj. Jagoda Kovačević struck in the first five minutes, but Eastweald were mostly frustrated thereafter, largely by Szalyk Földessy. The Pasargan continues to accrue renown as one of the most dreaded defensive midfielders in the league. Fortunately, Eastweald weren't alone on upset row, with Real Azuris also defeated by a 2-1 scoreline at AC Holmenkollen. The Wood Elves were beaten by stellar defending, however, Azuris were just sloppy and wasteful. Luis Varezzi - always the gentleman - credited Curtis Théberge after the match, but it's becoming apparent that the Breakers have suffered from the international transfer hiatus. They could use a fresh injection of star talent.
Globe Cup - Qualification Round, Leg 1
Maal Demons (MRN) 2-0 Real Azuris
Copy and paste here the last three sentenced above. Maal is a scrappy opponent, but it's clear from watching that Azuris should be beating them if they're playing near their best. But they're not.
Harlighet Ligan Matchday 6
TOP TAKEAWAYS: Fly, Doves, fly. With a cakewalk 4-1 win against outmatched Ziemelu Skaida, Klyde have climbed into the top place. Been awhile since we could say that! Cathal Turner still isn't firing on all cylinders in front of goal, but it almost doesn't matter. He's making his presence felt with his physicality and ability to involve teammates in the final third, and they're getting goals from a wide variety of other sources. If Corey Simmons Jr.'s defense can hold up, this team will be very, very hard to stop. The only undefeated team remaining, however, is Cassandra City. The Reds aren't piling on goals like we know they can, but they're keeping their heads above water and gritting out results to keep themselves in range of the top. Vega Zeale-Riddick got back on the scoresheet this week, which is encouraging, but fans at The Amphitheatre were left hoping that Wil Jabelon will learn from an up-and-down day. The young center back scored a goal after continuing a swashbuckling run all the way into the box, but also was at fault on Mathilda Jaeger's equalizer for Holmenkollen five minutes later - allowing her to nutmeg him, breeze past, and roll a gentle shot into the side-netting. Elsewhere, a quietly confident Samaj FC picked up another impressive result in Pelethas this time (their formula isn't glamorous, but it's working), while Centus Serpents managed to hang on for dear life to claim a 0-0 draw from the visiting champions (Synara Redd excellent in goal) and red-hot Odóma's goals once again weren't enough for a surprisingly leaky-in-the-back Stoneshore. First-time HL manager Jerrell Drake needs to figure it out. Slightly more seasoned Kennedy Kopenhaver is in a similar position at Mallox after watching his side succumb to a four-goal outburst within an hour against Keenan Athletic...
Globe Cup - Qualification Round, Leg 2
Real Azuris 0-2 Maal Demons
Real Azuris eliminated 4-0 on aggregate
They love their midweek UICA nights in Azuris, but a listless home performance in this one was further salt in the wound from their slow start to the season. Boos could be heard gaining momentum as this one wore on. Things are getting a little ugly in Azuris. They'll probably be just fine and still end up making Top Six, but their play at the moment really does not look like that of a UICA team.
Harlighet Ligan Matchday 7
TOP TAKEAWAYS: *Eyebrows furrow* Six goals again? Stoneshore United have been involved in an unusual number of shootouts this year, but hey, they keep showing up for most of them! Is this their new identity under Jerrell Drake??? Credit to Odóma for continuing to run at the Samaj back line with the match seemingly over at 3-1 even though nothing had been sticking for 85 minutes... until it did, in the 86th minute. Out of nowhere, Gölöncsér dropped an inch-perfect diagonal ball over Odóma's shoulder behind Jakoljevic and the fleet-footed Fevelian was able to bring it down and hammer inside Maston's near post. Three minutes later, Gölöncsér found him again on almost the exact same run -- but this time Odóma held up the ball and waited to slide a pass back across the face of goal to meet Ali Carra's charging run from the left flank. Sliding finish in front of Carl Erakin. Check. 3-3. You'll take the come-from-behind road point as a newly-promoted team. The other two, Centus Serpents and Ziemelu Skaida, also gave themselves needed boosts this week. Skaida's 2-2 at The Orange Palace is probably more impressive than Stoneshore's draw - that all-out man-marking is disrupting opponents - and Centus Serpents actually won on Olask Isle. Erridupizir Na'Verii has been one of the surprise top performers the early season, solidifying that Centus midfield and even getting the better of Maia Abylon in this one.
The good fortunes of the new teams this week is contrasted by the continued struggles of some teams with loftier expectations. The Klyde Isle Derby was the perfect chance - against a league-leading Klyde FC - for Real Azuris to rise up and make a statement. A declaration that they're still a force to be reckoned with and the clear superpower on the Isle. They did not do that. Although they did defend well and control possession. Pelethas United are entering crisis mode too after being handled relatively easily by Treftadaeth Alliance and sinking to the bottom. Despite having considerable goodwill stored up, both Luis Varezzi and Catherine Sedgwick will be sweating soon if bad results keep piling up. The primetime match of the weekend was Cassandra City @ OAS Royal - two of the league's most recognizable teams - and it was the visitors who made a statement under the spotlight, 2-1. Vega Zeale-Riddick, she of a goal and an assist, discounted the result afterwards - "Royal isn't a big club anymore, not really, nobody gets hyped about beating them." Ouch, right where it hurts. Are the Reds trying to start beef with the entire capital region??
Harlighet Ligan Matchday 8
TOP TAKEAWAYS: OAS Royal respond in a BIG way, keeping a clean sheet at Old Weldenskirgen and winning with opportunistic finishes from Aelfwynn Bannion (bulldozing Brevin Scott immediately after coming on) and Sen Marsteller (quietly in the best goalscoring form of her life). Maybe Syl Denhardt just needs VZR to publicly disparage his team every week. Pelethas also bounce back, taking care of business at home with a tidy 2-0 win over Holmenkollen. Golf claps from Sedgwick. Real Azuris still look slow and predictable going forward, however. Another goose egg on the board after 90 minutes - this time at home against a Mallox defense that hasn't been as titanic as years past. The likes of Sigurjónsdóttir and Jeremy Benedict and Semyon Yucob suddenly look a year past their best and strike signing Santo Silvestri hasn't made the immediate impact that was hoped for. Meanwhile, Ramusok United have been fluctuating wildly without the guiding hand of Jock Sonny. New gaffer Kirum Motonsson thought they'd "turned a corner" last week when Corby Wheeler blew holes in FC Kaldukosic, but this week they were on the other end of a 4-1 scoreline, stunned by Samaj of all teams. To be fair to the rest of the team, it shouldn't have been four. Goalkeeper errors directly accounted for the second two goals. It's probably time for the Lilly Kearney era to end at Fire River Arena. Meanwhile, the other 16 teams glance at each other anxiously as they watch the champs eviscerate Ziemelu Skaida...
It's no surprise to see which teams comprise the top three, but there are some surprise names inhabiting the rest of the UICA zone, such as Klyde, Samaj and Kaldukosic. It's doubtful any of them will remain there by the midseason break besides maybe Klyde, but still. Kudos to those teams for taking advantage of slow starts by some more powerful sides and giving themselves a cushion. In Samaj's case, despite starting a different striker in seemingly every single match...

The King's Cup is the FSF's primary cup tournament. The Final, always played in Ramusok's royal district, is the last match of each domestic calendar. The cup, which has the names of all previous holders engraved into it, is presented to the winner by King James himself. The 256 clubs in Cosumar's top five tiers take part, all entering together in a randomized first round draw.
Division represented in parenthesis.

Second Round
For once, the second round holds no major upsets, although there is one Härlighet Ligan battle -- Keenan Athletic unlucky to draw Mallox at this early stage. 18-year-old Mallox striker Vir Vu'Zago has a day to remember as Riordan rests, notching a brace to move the Tigers past the Checkers. The road doesn't get easier in this crowded section of the bracket. Mallox will have to play FC Kaldukosic, another HL side, next.
