Repairing my country.

Postby Mechosla » Mon Oct 21, 2019 4:05 am

Just looking for some general advice, so. I want my country to have a nice balance of things like Civil Rights, Political Freedoms, and Economy but then I get rid of things such as recreational drug use and all of the sudden we're an autocracy and absolutely communist. Just wondering what are some ways to raise these three stats and maintain a democratic nation?

Go to communism with a bad economy, then grow your civil rights and political freedoms until they're pretty high. After that, focus on growing your economy.
Soon the sun will set- is that prophecy? No, it's merely an assertion of faith in the consistency of events.

By the -anarchist-neoliberal spirit I mean that deeply human sentiment, which aims at the good of all, freedom and justice for all, solidarity and love among the people;

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!

As a nation with similar prohibitions, my advice to you would be to focus on freedom elsewhere. In particular, free flow of information - an independent press, protections for academics, funding of education and so on - should be prioritised.

Emmet: You might see a mess -
Lord Business: Exactly: a bunch of weird, dorky stuff that ruined my perfectly good stuff!
Emmet: Okay. What I see are people, inspired by each other and by you - people taking what you made and making something new out of it.

Nonsense, you aren't communist at all, as you still have the capitalism policy: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=mec ... l=policies

The option that caused this was 597.3, which reads:
While you’re still supine, a strange pale-skinned man shines the dentist’s lamp directly into your eyes and begins loading a large metal syringe from an unmarked vial. “I have your solution right here, dear leader. Why not add these powerful painkillers to the water supply, under the banner of a new healthcare initiative aimed at relieving stress and improving quality of life? Then you can use mass addiction to control the population! A particular district doesn’t like your new absolutist platform? Just reduce their ‘pain relief’ until they do! Imagine the whole populace desperately begging you for another hit!”

You chose an option to drug your population for the purpose of controlling them, enforce an absolutist platform, and induce withdrawal if they disobeyed.

There's nothing unusual in the effects you received (and NCR is right that you do not have the Socialist policy).

I suggest reading options closely, and going into Settings and turning on "Require confirmation before passing legislation" to reduce the chance that you will accidentally pick the wrong option again.

The good news is that these stat decisions are reversible, and you will receive issues that allow you to undo the policies you don't like at some point.

EDIT: In future, if you think you have received unusual effects from an issue, this is the thread to post on. We would need the name/number of the issue, the option you picked, the effect you think is unusual, the date if not today, and the nation (if not the one you're posting on).

Thank you for all of the advice I'll make sure to keep these things in mind while deciding on issues.
