The State Funeral [IC][APPLY FIRST]

Postby 2nd Imperial German Reich » Sun Oct 20, 2019 10:32 am

Brought to you with great sadness by the Imperial Government.

The sound of marching boots can be heard in the distance. The gleams of bayonets and shines of picklehaubs can be seen for miles.

A grand horse, tethered to a magnificent cart, neighs in the distance.

and then everything stops outside of the Royal Palace. The Horse-Drawn Wagon stops in front of the entrance.

back away from the march, TSA and the Border Patrol work tirelessly in preparing for the delegates to arrive.

14 Agents ready laptops, logged into the Imperial database, to search the records and conduct background checks on those who arrive.

The Border Patrol stood ready to detain and deport any who did not comply or were blacklisted from the event.

The Soviets send a General and his entourage + some Red gaurds due to the fact that it is deemed dangerous for GLORIOUS LEADER COMRADE STALIN to leave the Rodina. And since a General is important, it will show the Germans that they deserve more than just a diplomat for this special sad occasion. A Heavy Crusier arrives off the coast of German land bearing the Hammer and Sickle and asks to dock to let them come and participate in this funeral sad party.

A large, black jet comes into view on the skyline, not the Czar's usual mode of, but then again, this was a funeral, nothing was usual. As it entered German airspace, its escort fighters pulled away, each turning up and outwards. Continuing on, the craft connected to German Air Traffic Control. Then, having touched down on the tarmac, the door opened, and two security officials stepped out, watching in every direction as the first the Czar, then his son, then the War Minister, the Grand Duke of Rurik. The War Minister was personally attended to by another half-dozen Bureau of Security protection officers, with yet more Greater Russian officers rounding out the procession. There was not a spot of gleaming metal amongst them, each metal fitting, from the very much not ceremonial sabres, to the guns held by the security officers, to the buttons on their uniforms, each was covered in a thick layer of soot, no ostentatious display was allowed, this was a mourning party.

The ship arrived on the German coast, bearing the standard of the Order. Along with it slink two destroyers, but they pull away as the shoreline draws near. The ship pulls into port, and from beneath the deck emerge the envoys from the Order. Four agents in the front, then Cardinal Fang and two others from the Tribunal. The agents are all in black robes, masked, with swords on one hip and a firearm across the back. The Cardinal and Tribunal leaders wear dampened funeral garb, gray robes with maroon accents, although they have forgone the traditional masks that would be worn back in the Order. Behind them sat a small crew of drivers and more agents, as well as a small caravan of SUV's, all black. While the Order's strict travel policies result in no formal passport documentation, each individual has papers detailing their identity, purpose, all signed by the Cardinal.

A medium sized Trawler boat docked at the nearest German port upon entry, the boat in question sported a New England flag. The small Crew currently manning the boat were ordered to stay upon the ship. Only two people walked upon the deck, this was General Lucas Khan and Head Ambassador Cory Barnes. The Head Ambassador held a small screen in his hands which was currently displaying live feed from the King's office.
The pair checked that they had the correct documentation in order, which includes all their passport documents including the King's. The pair of them were wearing black suits and had organised a driver to come pick them up, strangely enough it seems that they did not have a single bodyguard or form of protection with them.

As each member arrives, the TSA scours over all available paperwork. They deem all backgrounds clear and safe, and escort each representative to a long, black limousine, standing out against all of the normal civilian bicycles. As they are moved along, the city seems perfectly normal. However, if one could peer into the alleys between the tall government and private buildings, they would see bodies hanging by the feet, adorned with signs with phrases such as "Deserteur", or "cult".

As they pull into the driveway of the magnificent Magdeburg Palace, a young man in an officer's crisp uniform, with the insignia of a Colonel, trots over on a brilliant white steed to the vehicle. He halts beside it, tethering his horse to a fence post. The driver steps out and salutes the Colonel, before opening the doors for the passengers.

"Guten Tag. I am Colonel Himmel. If you would please follow me this way, I will lead you to the Kaiser's office."

He turns and walks into the palaces intricate oak doors. As they make their way up to the top of the palace, they pass many rooms, including the massive dining room, large enough to store and entire C-5 Galaxy comfortably. The suspicious hole and tube sticking out of the ceiling can be seen, although not easily. They pass by many officer's, engaging in hushed conversation. They snap to attention when they notice the Colonel's hobnail boots, however, snippets of conversation can be heard, such as "This w--- purg--", "Der Einsatztruppen sind hier", "Crusaders of the modern era", and "The Baron knows who's next". The Colonel escorts them down a hall, where paintings hung in ornate wooden frames were hung. The most prominent were, by far, of Kaiser Dieter and his family. However, there were also paintings and pictures of Kaisers Josef and Wilhelm III, further towards the end of the hall. looking up, one could see a massive golden statue of the Iron Cross, seemingly levitating.

As they reached the end of the hall, The Colonel firmly grabs a heavy brass knocker, bringing it down on the heavy, ornate oak doors. He opens them, and the room is presented to them. A portrait of Kaiser Dieter von Friedrich are hung on opposite sides of a window, it’s white curtains pulled together. A ray of light shines through the crack.

Medals adorn the Wall. The emerald of the Sultan’s medal, gifted to Kaiser Dieter von Friedrich to signify Kafairian and German friendship seems to shine with an unnatural light. Below that, the collar and medal of the house of Hohenzollern rest, with the medal of the order of the Black Eagle pinned below it.

The spike of a Picklehaub sparkles in the light. It rests, peacefully, above the Kaiser’s uniform, with its brass belt buckle, cords, and medals, along with a sheathed Blücher saber.

On the Kaiser’s ornate wooden desk, a row of gleaming bayonets lay, meticulously arranged, besides a nameplate. The Kaiser stood, with his back to them, looking through the small crack in the window. He turns around at the click of the Barons heel as he stands to dismiss the Colonel. The doors are closed behind them.

"Please, take a seat." the Kaiser says, gesturing to the row of chairs facing his desk. "We may need to move into the conference hall if this room gets crowded."

A large civilian supersonic airliner landed at the Airport of Magdeburg. She bore national symbols of the Holy Queendom and the personal coat of arm of the Queen of Ezeiria on her hull. The aircraft taxied to the VIP area of the airport and finally came to halt. Her hatched opened and a retractable ladder was lowered. The Queen was the first to emerge from the hatch, a beautiful tall woman in her early 40's wearing an elegant black dress. She was followed by her teenage younger daughter Princess Alira and her Mistress of Diplomacy, Baroness Deza val-Edos, both dressed in black as well. Behind them came about a dozen of Royal Guards in their crimson uniforms and gilded helmets - all tall and beautiful young women. The remaining members of the Queen's retinue followed.

"There have never been any hanging bodies in Magdeburg. Whoever told you that is wrong. The Reich would never kill our own people."

The General and the Ambassador both take their respective seats, with the Ambassador having to awkwardly raise the screen above his head so that the now present King can get a full view of the room. General Khan paid no attention to the Ambassador's situation and instead takes a mild interest of the contents being displayed on the wall and the desk. Head Ambassador Barnes meanwhile was making sure that the screen was at a correct angle so that it didn't block anyone's view nor the King's, he was already going through a thousand situations in his head if one of the two were to occur. The King was wearing his ceremonious crown and a black suit for the occasion, he had his hands locked together attentively on his desk and was carefully studying the occupants of the room.

"We appreciate your hospitality, and we offer you our condolences to you and your family." His mind drifted back to the ride to the palace, to hushed words he thought he heard. Hushed words are common in these courts, just like his own. "Your palace is quite magnificent. I assume you are quite proud of the legacy of your family, although I have no doubts you have already begun to make yourself known as a new man, no?"

The TSA agents again pour over the documents. Border patrol takes a step forward when the Male TSA agent looks up in shock, but steps back when he realizes it is merely a mistake.

A Female Agent steps forwards and escorts them into another limousine, and it pulls out of the airport. It drives past the Agricultural Sector, passing elegant and luscious fields. Few people and machines are active, and a beautiful forest is seen in the background.

Shots ring out softly in the distance. The driver pulls away from the Rural sector, and begins moving through the Suburban areas. Here, it is clean and pristine for about a mile. People in suits mount bicycles. Boys in uniform leave their homes, waving to their mothers.

About 2 miles in, a body can be seen, a wood sign saying "Cult" dangling around their neck. The driver continues. in the spaces between the houses, massive piles of bodies can be seen. The Driver hurries on, Pulling into the Driveway.

Instead of a Colonel, a Female Imperial Guard approaches the vehicle. She raises her hand in a stiff salute, before opening the doors.

"Obergefreiter Charlotte Miller. I will be your guide today."

With that she spins on her heel, moving into the palace's now open doors. As she progresses down the hallway, a scuffle is heard in the driveway. She runs out, gripping her rifle, and takes aim at a man running from the Imperial Guard. She hits the concrete besides his feet as another Guard fires a round from a G36 into his head.

"Apologies," She says stiffly. "this way."

She guides them down the same corridor. It is a rather somber mood now. She reaches the door, and raises the heavy knocker, bringing it down once more. As she opens the door, she stands beside for the visitors from Ezeiria, and salutes the Kaiser before exiting.

"Thank you, your Majesty" begins Cardinal Fang. He pulls the chair out, and sits, the two other Cardinals at his side. "We would be happy to move should it become necessary."

" why yes, Herr Fang, I am quite proud of both this palace and my families legacy. I am in fact attempting a new approach at ruling, I feel like giving my people a little more wiggle room than what they already know."

The Kaiser smiles and bows to the Ezeirians.

"Welcome! please, take a seat. I believe more will be joining us, so we may move soon. I hope you enjoyed your ride here?"

The Czar and his party seat themselves, the War Minister in the middle, the Czar to his right, and the Crown Prince to the left. Their guards take up positions besides the doors, the others standing against the wall behind the Russian party. Khilkov reaches inside his coat, bearing the military insignia of the Confederation, and produces a pipe, only for the Czar to slap it out of his hand onto the floor behind them, where it was scooped up by one of their guards, who stowed it away immediately. The two men started a heated conversation, though their voices barely went above a whisper. Fingers jabbed, vague gestures were made, and at one point the Crown Prince had to restrain the Czar from slamming his fist down on the table, eventually they stopped, with the War Minister looking subdued and guilty, while the Czar's lined face betrayed deep-seated worry.

Silently, from the sea, a submarine rises, the small Kafairian flag painted onto it. On the deck, 2 men walk out, looking around at the dock before them. The sub silently approaches, docking, the 2 men stepping off lightly. One is in full traditional dress, meaning a robe, turban, and 2 ring on each figure, a small crescent on each, along with a large necklace, a sun on it. The outfit was in all black, so that the moons and sun stood out. This was Minister al-Oran, the stand in head of Home Defense, and one of the heads of the Temple of the Sun and Moons. Next to him was a man in a more modern military dress uniform, once more in black. This was the Head of the stand in government, al-Recan. Both had, due to a lack of the Sultan and Princess, been sent to attend. They look around, and begin to walk forward. Their swords hung at their hips, with Oran using a rapier, and Recan was armed with a pair of Yatagan.

“Herr Steuben, if you would please provide me a copy of Kaiser Josef’s will. We do have things to discuss.”

The Baron hands him a sheet of paper.

The men’s passports are checked. They are eyed suspiciously by both TSA and Border Patrol, however they are allowed to pass. An armed guard escorted them to a Jet Black Buggy, and pulled it out of the driveway as they move to a railway station.

They board a luxury train, the armed guard standing next to the door. The men are seated, and the train begins to move, painstakingly slow at first, and then catching speed as it sped across the railways, giving a wonderful view of the Germany as it came down from the Danish port.

It passed luscious fields of green, vivid forests, and elegant old fashioned towns, with some citizens in the backs of horse drawn carriages.

As it passed, all seem fine. And then gunshots could be heard. All around the next station, piles of bodies 1 meter tall stood, surrounded by laughing soldiers as they waved to the train. A soldier pulls a man by the collar and onto his knees. The soldier turns his back to the train, pulling his pistol. A gunshot is heard, and the man’s body is thrown into the pile.

The train begins moving again. The air suddenly seems more viscous.

The train pulls into a rail station near the Royal Palace, and the men are escorted again by the driver into an elevator.

The elevator chimes, and a gold colored door closes, lifting them up to the Kaiser’s office. An elevator chimes, and the door is opened, showing the Kafairians the office.

“Welcome Friends” the Kaiser says

Both bow. "We are proud to have been allowed to attend." This is said in unison. They walk in, nodding to the other representatives in the room. Both sit, Recan thinking about the coming meeting, and Oran wondering about the gruesome scene outside the window of the train. He was head of Home Defense. He knew an extermination when he saw it. But why? They both shake these thoughts from their heads, and focus on the conversation.

As Queen Avina rides in the limousine, she takes in the scenery. He notices the hanged body, but that leaves little impression on her: public executions are a norm in Ezeiria; according to the signed the man was a heretic and in her own country hanging would be too mild of a punishment for someone convicted of a crime against Faith. What she finds somewhat disturbing, however, is the almost total lack of motor vehicles on the roads. Well dressed people on bicycles, of all things! Back in Ezeiria, any free citizen could afford at least one private car and even slaves had access to the extensive and completely free public transportation network.

The incident with the running man did not go unnoticed... He was obviously a traitor, so the Obergefreiter did well to shoot him. But how something like that could even happen in the Kaiser's palace, of all places?

Finally, as she was lead into the room where the guests are assembling, she offered a polite nod to the young Kaiser. Polite... but there was no trace of any humility in it; she made a point of showing that she considered him her equal.

"Kaiser Wilhelm, mein tiefstes Beileid," Avina spoke in flawless German. "I always considered your deceased father a friend and i mourn his untimely death. Please meet my youngest daughter, Princess Avina and my Mistress of Diplomacy, Baroness val-Edos," she motioned at the two other women in black who were accompanying her. Both curtsied; the Baroness did it quite seamlessly, but it was plainly obvious that the young princess did not have very much practice at it.

The Kaiser walks in, takes a seat at the head of the table, and has the doors closed. The television begins commenting on the massive disappearance of cultists, claiming religious purity was upon them, before the Baron changes the channel to a classic movie channel. The movie currently playing is 1984.

"Thank you Kaiser, and good luck with your papers." Fang and his staff walked out, agents following close behind, hands gripping their weapons a little more tightly. As they entered the dining hall, Fang noticed the movie on the screen.

"Ah, a fitting tale," began Fang, though his eyes were drawn towards the tube. "Now, I enjoy your entertaining of setting your own path. A man must always show his nation who is in charge. But, pray tell me, when you say you intend to give more leeway to your population, is this leeway, or 'leeway.' Either one presents its own dangers, and although I trust your nation is in good hands, I merely wish to put some wary thoughts of mine from the recent conflicts abroad to rest. The Queen watches the movie with interest. It's not exactly something she would watch for her own leisure, but it might give her some valuable insight into the mindset of the new Kaiser.

As the Baron leads them down the magnificent hallway, a mechanical click could be heard. The Kaiser pulls a belt on over his coat, his Blücher saber dangling off to the right hand side, and his holster shining sully on the left.

As everyone is seated in the dining hall, a gargantuan television begins to play state broadcasts, as the strange tube in the ceiling begins to move around with a mechanical whir, pointing directly over each of the delegates as they sat themselves, before finally aiming downwards at the center of the table.

The Kaiser walks in, takes a seat at the head of the table, and has the doors closed. The television begins commenting on the massive disappearance of cultists, claiming religious purity was upon them, before the Baron changes the channel to a classic movie channel. The movie currently playing is 1984.

2nd Imperial German Reich wrote: "Very delightful movie. You needn't worry about the barrel, It won't harm you as of right now."

You could understand this, yes?"

“Well, you See, leeway is relative. A business owner may need more leeway in terms of wages. A worker may need some leeway in their homes.”

The Kaiser locks eyes with Fang.

“I intend to give my people spatial leeway. Our Lebensraum is being occupied by undesirables, and I won’t take it.”

The Kaiser looks at the date. “Well, it would appear that my coronation will also collide with the funeral. Nevertheless, we shall eat fine German cuisine, and then we shall attend the state march and funeral.”

The Kaiser waves to an unnoticed guard in the corner, who opens the door and lets in 2 waiters and 2 waitresses, who pass menus around to each delegate. Upon closer inspection of the room, one could realize that the room is filled with guards, hidden away in nooks in the walls behind decorative marble quartz pillars.

The Kaiser is brought a medium sized wooden box, outlined by brass hinges and corners, and adorned by rubies. Upon closer inspection, the box is revealed to be a cigar box. The Kaiser removes one, places it in his mouth and lights it with a lighter constructed out of a bullet. He takes a puff of it, sucking it in and blowing out a thick cloud of scented smoke. He passes the box around the table.
