Urranese Aid to Federation Despite Protests, Political Turmoil

It was announced that aid to the Federation of Sishai, including the sales of military hardware, would be continuing despite protests and attempts by opponents to kill a bill that would allow the Prime Minister's Office to allocate up to five billion dollars in infrastructure funding to be sent to the Federation under the Sishai Development Program.

The bill, supported by the Prime Minister but abhorred by her own Urran First Party, was rammed through the Senate by a coalition of the Green Party, People's Democratic Party, and the Urran Humanitarian Party. It was strongly opposed by the Urran First Party and People's Republican Party.

Federal Police were forced to remove several members of the Urran Right Coalition as they attempted to block opposing politicians from entering the Diet Building to vote on the issue.

Several fist fights broke out between Members of Parliament as the announcement of the bill's passing was officially announced. Federal Police detained eleven total MPs, though the names of the offending MPs and party allegiances have yet to be released.

Finance Minister Yoshio Ifukube, People's Republican Party member and one time supporter of the Prime Minister spoke out at a joint press conference held by members of the URC. "Urran has lost enough dabbling in the affairs of second class nations. The Prime Minister is a traitor and her policies are a detriment to our nation. The URC is committed to ensuring that hard earned tax dollars are not used as poker chips at the UN casino." This was in reference to the former Azen state defaulting on loans it took from the Urranese government.

Tempers flared outside as 10,000 demonstrators moved on Parliament Hill to show opposition to the bill. They were confronted by counter protestors, though police managed to keep the two groups separated, six were arrested for burning the flag of Urran.

A survey conducted by the College of Political Science at Sakura City University found that 45% of Urranese are in objection to any aid to the Federation with 40% being unsure and 15% being in approval.

Opponents of the PMs policies accuse Hanajima of failing to represent the people she was elected to serve.

While it seems certain that the PM will sign the bill, the URC has already introduced a bill that would officially condemn the Federation and place tariffs on Federation goods. The bill intends to recover money lost when the Federation defaulted on Urranese loans. Similar bills have been introduced, though all have been killed before reaching the PM.

We will keep you updated as the situation develops.

Long Live the State!
Terrorist attack on Anowan Soil brings Donnish Military into DEFCON 3.

1 Hour ago, Yur Venr, Senior International Reporter(@YurV).
Bögt, Donner Land

The Pteleraki Trade Center attack is still fresh in everyone's mind, the final recorded death told is at 3218 lives lost, with injured at 6584 people totaling at 9802 casualties. There are multiple nationalities included in the death toll, including some from Donner Land as well, which has brought some Councillors of the Liberal Faction to seek out and join the Anowan initiative to find out who or what organization did this. The effects of this attack have been felt primarily all-around Helsa, though, with the deaths of many internationals, they have been felt in other countries as just as much it seems.

The Military's response was quick, immediately upon hearing about the situation and seeing the pictures, the Military raised its awareness to DEFCON 3 and multiple airbases across the northern border with Anowa and around large cities scrambled Combat Air Patrol flights, putting the air space of Donner Land into high security for any rogue aircraft. As of now, the military alertness of Donner land is still at DEFCON 3 though all CAP flights have long since returned to base. Airbases are still in a state of readiness to mobilize within 15 minutes of notice along with select military units of the Army, especially units in the Vale who are already under enough stress as it is in their Operation to defend Krasnia from outside aggression.

The Council has already seen and is undergoing much deliberation on a response, though President Rurts has already issued a formal condemnation of the attacks and solidarity with the Nation of Anowa, the Council's main concern is the ratification of Donnish Troop Deployments in the future. For the first time in as much as a year, the Liberal Faction is getting a lot of pushback in the Council from Moderate leaning Liberals, the Moderates and Conservative Factions who say that the discussion of Troop Deployments is far too early without even knowing who the enemy is or the goal. Meanwhile, the Military Council is preparing to Veto any "Yes" decision because of the same concerns as well objecting to the Civilian Council having power to simply reserve the right to send a military force anywhere should they need to in the future from such a decision.

Military on Alert After Anowa Terrorist Attack

Urran's military remains on high alert following a catastrophic terrorist attack on Anowan soil that has left more than 3,000 dead, with many more still missing.

The terrorist's weapon of choice, an aeroplane, has shut down civilian air traffic around Urran's most populous cities leaving military jets to stalk the skies. Many cultural centers have been shut down, with Hibiya Park, near Parliament Hill, now playing host to an air defense missile battery instead of holiday goers and leisure seekers.

Thousands of flights were canceled across the globe and in Urran, leaving passengers stranded at airports. The Urranese government has done its best to supply those stranded within its boarders with livable conditions. Disaster response teams brought cots and supplies in to airports and those foreign passengers on layover were given temporary visas if they wished to stay in hotels, or if they had special needs beyond that which could be managed at airports. Many hotels around Narita Intercontinental Airport provided free lodging for those unable to return home.

The government has said that limited flights will resume after 48 hours, or as soon as it has finished its security assessments, whichever comes first. Airports have been told that they may allow flights to resume as usual after the Federal Investigation Bureau and Ministry of Justice have analyzed current security threats. The government, it seems, is taking the possibility of the same sort of attacks happening within Urran to be very real.

The lock down of Urranese airspace has left an unsettling silence fall across the nation's populated centers, with only military aircraft stalking the skies above Urran. Citizens are hopeful that life will resume as normal quickly.

The pains of the Anowan people have not gone unnoticed, however. Outside the Anowan embassy in Sakura City to, lay flowers and leave letters of support for the Anowan people.

Across Urran, life as usual stopped. Politicians gathered outside of the Capitol Building for silent prayer for the Anowan nation. Teachers stopped teaching and school children from across the country have making 1,000 paper cranes per class to be gifted to those that have lost so much, a symbol of peace, love, and renewal for days to come.

The government has rallied behind Anowa, with Prime Minister Saki Hanajima pledging "all possible aid" to help hunt down those responsible for the atrocity. Search and rescue teams are on standby to help search the ruble for the dead or missing.

As Anowa grieves, so do we in Urran. God be with us.

Federation Joins the Atlantic Pact

Announcement greeted with apprehension by some, openness by others, hope for decreased tensions on Quaria.

The sudden announcement by the National Council of the Federation's official association with the Atlantic Pact is expected to result in wide reaching consequences. Militarists have reacted in mixed fashion, with some apprehensive regarding the change in relations, and others welcoming the chance to draw down forces from the regions near Kubati to allow for wider focus. Anti-Militarists and Moderates have been broadly receptive of the move as it lowers tensions on Quaria and opens up wider trade opportunities. Attempts to reach the former Royal Family for comment have gone unanswered.

The agreement is expected to increase the import of GK products among others, and analysts expect the domestic technology market to become highly competitive in the future. Potential Federation involvement in AP military development is also possible, with some rumours of the navy putting out a Request For Proposal of a low end patrol vessel to offset the currently more expensive options such as the Ocelot class corvette. Details regarding possible obligations under the AP's mutual defense pact have not been revealed yet.

Roman Sea Nations Meet to Further Extend Treaties

Romos, Remun – Delegates from the Novus Imperium Romanum, Remun, Islas Romanas, Macenae, and the Achean Confederation have begun meeting in the Remun capital city to discuss further extending several existing treaties and forming them into one unified agreement. This meeting comes several months after the formation of the Marsic Pact, who is being backed by the Greater Kingdom. The nations have grown wary at the foreign influence in their part to the world.

NIR officials said in a statement that they wish to extend the Roman Sea Free Trade Agreement, from 1964, with the possibility of a monetary union. In addition, they wish to formalize defense treaties into one joint treaty, possibly uniting it with an expanded RSFTA. The Remun and Macenae delegates appeared to be acceptive of this possibility, while those from the Islas Romanas and the Achean Confederation did not seem as receptive.

Negotiations are currently planned for a month, however, it was stated that they may extend into the next year, if snags are run into.

Kawashima Announces Coalition Negotiations, National Coalition in Uproar
Image
Imperial Residence in Osaka. The Imperial Household has not commented on the situation.

Outrage sweeps through the streets of Osaka this evening as political chaos rocks the nation in the wake of an announcement by Prime Minister Kawashima to hold new coalition negotiations ahead of the next parliamentary election. The announcement comes as a major shock to those on the left wing of the National Coalition as well as minority coalition parties. Accusations fly from both the Democratic Liberals and Conservative Union that Kawashima and her National Liberal party is making a power play based upon growing support for the leading coalition party.

The announcement came from the Prime Minister at a regular press conference in which the coalition laid out its plans for legislation in the upcoming quarter. There had been recent rumors of possible friction within the coalition as the National Liberals continue to push for increased defense spending in light of international instability in Helsa and Luscios. Those rumors appear to be confirmed, with the National Liberals asking for new negotiations with the other members of the National Coalition to support the further defense expenditures. Notably, the budgetary alteration that appears to be setting off this round of coalition negotiations comes into direct conflict with earlier agreements made between the National Liberals and the Democratic Liberals to make room in this year’s budget for a pension assistance program.

The pension assistance program, designed to support recently retired craftsmen from a variety of tech industries, was to be added to the budget in place of a similarly priced project backed by some of the more stalwart members of the National Liberal and Monarchist parties to procure additional warships for the Imperial Navy. Arguments on this issue are the latest in a series of pushes by the National Liberals to enforce their defense-focused budget agenda on the coalition, which has drawn ire from many within the minority parties.

Shouting overcame the press conference as soon as the coalition negotiations were announced, and Prime Minister Kawashima was forced to abbreviate the interview session after answering a series of reporter questions regarding the negotiation details. Subsequent comments by prominent politicians from the Conservative Union and Democratic Liberal parties were highly critical of the Prime Minister’s decision.

“It’s an outrage, nothing less” insisted Senator Yazawa of Sapporo’s 5th District and leader of the Conservative Union. “The Prime Minister clearly intends to overstep her position within the coalition and will be undermining coalition unity if she decides to make further demands of our support.”

“The Prime Minister’s decision is very shocking to us” said Senator Himeshi of Tokyo’s 10th District and leader of the Democratic Liberals. “We had hoped our previous concessions would satisfy the jingos within the coalition, but it’s becoming harder to justify the declining social spending to our base. Further negotiations may not be possible.”

Party leaders of the Jewish Democratic Party refused to comment, but indicated their support for the Prime Minister’s budget measures.

Opposition parties took the opportunity to level further criticism at the National Coalition, arguing that it existed primarily to serve the purposes of left-wing revolutionaries and jingoists based upon their continued increases in defense spending. Critics from the Conservative Federalists and Constitutionalists point to this latest announcement as yet another power grab by the Prime Minister. Speculation abounds of a potential merger between the two right-wing factions of the Opposition Union into a more formal opposition party which, if accomplished, would make for the second largest party represented in the National Diet beside the National Liberals. Other political parties have not commented on the matter in detail although it is expected that the Monarchists will make a statement in the near future.

The National Coalition has ruled in the Diet for nearly two decades, being an unprecedented alliance between left-wing and moderate right-wing parties in opposition to rising hard conservative parties. The National Coalition was long known to be a check on nationalist liberal control of the government after the National Liberal party began to decline following its greatest successes in the 1990s. Recent power consolidation actions on the part of the National Liberals indicate increased confidence in their voter base to carry the future election.

MoD Review of Navy Complete, Here's What To Know

The Ministry of Defense recently completed its yearly naval review to determine if any revisions or doctrinal changes need to be made.

Grand Admiral Shun Nakayama had high praise for Urran's large surface combatants, but noted that there was "room for improvement" and that "changes" were in order for Urran's small surface vessels and submarine fleet.

It was announced that the number of the Navy's Shirudo Class missile boats would be slashed from 30 to 15, with the rest to be sold off or scrapped. This comes with an announcement that the last of the Navy's Kinshi Class corvettes will be coming on line. This will ensure that Urran will still retain the capability to defend its littorals, while also giving it enhanced blue water capabilities. The Kinshi Class vessels already in existence will be upgraded with enhanced electronic intelligence suits to enable greater battlefield awareness.

The report also took aim at the recently upgraded Udaloi Class anti-submarine destroyers, sighting the vessels' age and limited aviation facilities as cause for eventual replacement. A Navy spokesperson said that they are unwilling to strike the vessels from service without a clear replacement in mind. In current form the Udaloi take a burden off of the ships of the line, but they are beginning to show signs of wear, and Navy officials worry as their structural integrity continues to degrade, vessels will be spending more time in port for maintenance than protecting the fleet from subsurface threats. Two options have been proposed for replacement, adding more Mosura Class destroyers or Akizuki Class frigates to fill the role, or building an entirely new design.

The state of Urranese naval aviation was also brought into question. It was announced that the Navy's Super Hornets will continue to see service well into the future, armed with the latest software upgrades. It was helicopters that appear to be causing trouble for supply chains. The Panther helicopter has formed the air arm for the Udaloi Class destroyers, as well as the rescue squadrons in the carrier air wing. The Navy stated in its report that it desires to replace the Panthers in the near future, especially aboard the carriers.

Current air wing structure has two helicopter squadrons, a squadron of MH-225s for anti-submarine warfare, and a squadron of Panthers for search and rescue. The Navy wishes to replace the Panthers with another squadron of MH-225s, which can be reconfigured in a matter of hours to suit either role, providing more available aircraft to serve where needed. The Panthers have been deemed too small for the anti-submarine warfare role, limiting the weapon's suit to two technicians, a dipping sonar, and two torpedoes against the MH-225's sonobuoy launcher, dipping sonar, magnetic anomaly detector, and four torpedoes.

While the size of the aviation facilities aboard the Udaloi destroyers are limited, the Navy said that it is considering replacing the Panthers squadrons currently serving with the latest H-160s made by the same company, though it did not elaborate on the subject.

The potential need for a carrier based fixed wing submarine hunting aircraft was also raised, though Navy officials refused comment on the matter, saying the matter is "being researched".

Lastly, the review of the submarine fleet came back nearly spotless. The last of the Manda Class submarines was commissioned earlier in the year, though options for more remain on the table. As usual, the Navy took the time to offer up its wish list, saying that a new class of conventional attack submarines, though small in number, may be useful in patrolling not only Urran's own EEZ, but also the waters around Sishai. Navy brass seem divided on the matter, however, as others believe a smaller version of the Manda Class, though still nuclear powered, would fit the need just as well, while still providing the necessary endurance to serve in other capacities should the need arise.

All in all, the MoD had high praise, citing excellent maintenance and seakeeping practices among its crews. It seems that it will continue to serve Urran as its sword and shield for decades to come.

Urran Holds Largest Ever SAREX in Sishai

Nations from around the world sent personnel to Exercise Ocean Angel, perhaps the single largest search and rescue exercise (SAREX) in the waters off Southern Gunagdong in Sishai.

The scenario simulated was a worst case situation, but one the Ministries of Defense and Transportation say is becoming increasingly likely as tourism to the area increases as the scars of the past begin to heal. A super cruise ship with upwards of 9,000 passengers on board sinking in the warm, shark infested waters off of the continent.

The SAREX was divided into a series of stages, the preparation phase in which the participating forces arrived, the mobilization phase after a simulated distress signal, the search and rescue phase, and the cleanup phase in which participants cleaned up a simulated oil spill similar in scope to the real one an actual cruise ship would leave.

An area of ocean the size of a small city was made off limits for the duration of the drill. An emergency beacon was placed and decoys meant to represent wreckage were scattered using aircraft and small boats. Several mannequin filled life rafts were deployed to simulate the potentially thousands of survivors. Several military and police personnel were also used to simulate victim recovery.

The MoD and MoT issued a joint statement saying that if rafts or life jackets wash ashore baring the letters SAR to not be alarmed, they are training dummies used in the exercise, not all of which were able to be recovered due to unfavorable weather conditions.

The SAREX was the largest and most ambitious ever, with participants from across the globe. It was headed by the Urranese Coast Guard with participation from all five service branches and the Federal Police. Other participants included thousands of personnel and dozens vessels, and aircraft from Donnerland, Pakiranistan, The Arktic Republic GRCS, and Yamatai.

In all, 9,000 mannequins and 136 life vessels were set adrift. Simulated casualties were flown back to triage stations on land. Divers were able to locate the "wreck" and retrieve intelligence vital to the accident investigation. Upwards of 80% of targets were recovered, a statistic the Coast Guard says is truly "best case scenario".

The MoD said that is was proud of its crews and praised foreign participants for operational cohesion. The Ministry has said it is likely to continue to hold multinational exercises as Urran continues its advancement on the world stage.

Urranese Leaders Say FONOPs Welcome, But Urges Caution

Secretary of State Noriyuki Miyagi held a press conference on Parliament Hill earlier this morning addressing what the Urranese government has called "suspicious" moves by the Great Kingdom in recent months.

"Urran, as a UN signatory and Union member is a believer in national sovereignty and respecter of international law. GK's FONOPs (Freedom of Navigation Operations) are in line with current international policies. Of course, Urran respects the freedom of navigation for all vessels within international waters and its own exclusive economic zone within the confines of international and Urranese Law."

Miyagi went on to say that Urran would "welcome" future FONOPs, though he did put forth a list of demands by the Urranese government concerning future operations.

"Firstly, we strongly urge all uninvited foreign military vessels to remain outside of Urran's territorial waters save for emergency situations, in which case, in times of peace, Urran will offer all possible assistance. Secondly, Urran maintains the right to inspect foreign vessels within its territory and EEZ to ensure Urranese law is kept, and to ensure our national security. Thirdly, all foreign military vessels conducting such operations will be escorted by Urranese military assets while in the Urranese EEZ. We urge any nation conducting FONOPs within Urranese controlled areas to use utmost caution and make safety a top priority, especially in shipping lanes. Interference with trade or lawful industrial practices within the Urranese EEZ will not be tolerated."

Miyagi went on to say that he believed that the FONOPs were "suspicious" and that "ulterior motives cannot be ruled out", though he reiterated that the operations by GK were perfectly legal and that Urran would continue to allow such activity so long as peace persists.

HMS Queen Amelia, the Phalanx-class CVHGN,
pictured this week, has been on rotation in
the Grey Sea for the past year, and has provided
command and support for dozens of FONOPs
undertaken by it's fleet elements
This week in defence... the Great Kingdom's Ministry of Defence responded to statements made by the Urranese Secretary of State, Noriyuki Miyagi, in regards to maritime law and freedom of navigation operations. The Royal Navy, which regularly executes FONOPs across the world, mostly consistently in the Grey Sea, has recently increased their rate of operation near Urranese waters. The Urranese, having noticed this trend, stated that FONOPs would be "welcomed," but urged that undertakers of FONOPs remain outside of Urranese territorial waters, prioritise safety, and accept Urranese military escorts. Miyagi was also keen to underline the fact that he believes that "ulterior motives" on the part of the Royal Navy "cannot be ruled out."

GK Minister of Defence Neville Fenwick responded this week by stating that the Royal Navy would be adamant and active in complying with Urran's "very reasonable" demands, underlining that the Royal Navy intends to continue it's long history of adherence to United Nations international law, and asserted that the FONOPs are mean't to ensure the sanctity of mutually shared ideals for maritime conduct. Fenwick stated that the Royal Navy does not intend to incur any slow down in it's rate of completion in regards to FONOPs at the moment, asserting that such operations are needed as a measure of global mutual assurance to full compliance with the law of the sea. To finish, he reaffirmed to the international community that there are no "ulterior motives" involved in the Great Kingdom's policy regarding FONOPs, stating that he felt minorly insulted at such an insinuation. He did not take questions, exiting the conference with haste.

Also this week, the Royal Air Force's 121st Squadron were recalled from RAF Ysitrika in an important step towards gradual GK presence reduction in the Federation of Sishai. Furthermore, the Royal Air Force's 204th squadron were also recalled from Rathras in what was described as a step towards de-militarisation of important Grey Sea trade channels. These moves combined, represent the full removal of all GK 5th generation fighter aircraft from the continent of Sishai, a total of 12 FM-32 Aquilas and 12 FA-23 Accentor II's departing the continent. The 121st Squadron is currently in RAF Greenwood in Eden, but slated to deploy to RAF Zaragosa, near Parcia, in a week. The 204th now resides in their home base up in RAF Astralon North, in Artalia.

This week in politics... Minister of International Trade Travis Buckley announced that the Grand Helsa Convention Complex in Edenguard would be hosting the first annual Atlantic Pact Economic Conference (APEC), slated to take place in February of 2020. The APEC initiative is described as an outlet for leaders from all member states and associate states of the Atlantic Pact to collectively discuss economic policies and deals, hopefully cultivating an enhanced environment of economic favourability, prioritisation, and enhanced interdependence amongst Atlantic Pact states. Hosting many of the world's largest economies and collectively counting for over 2 billion people and over 65 trillion dollars in gross domestic product, the Atlantic Pact is one of the most economically influential organisations in the world, and APEC staff hope to utilise this conference to cultivate unity and mutual continued prosperity within the group. Another stated purpose of the conference, with such economic influence in mind, is to provide an outlet for Atlantic Pact members to outline unified policies and regulations in regard to global economic crises, such as piracy around Sishai and predatory investment from abroad.

The AXIA Model 20, the first model to receive the Luna
5G-oriented software updates
This week in business and development... AXIA Automotive announced their 14th update to their software-based integration programme, dubbed Luna, which is used to enhance the adaptive connectivity of AXIA vehicles to their environment and to the internet at large. The update included significant upgrades to Luna's adaptive censors and directional tracking through programmable integration with now-growing 5G networks across major population centers in the country. AXIA CEO Rick Davis stressed that nation-wide 5G connectivity is just around the corner, and with such connectivity, the whole experience of driving or riding in an AXIA car would be both more enjoyable and exponentially safer. The update to Luna also includes an update to integrate popular social media platforms such as Flide and The Coffee Shop, and television streaming networks such as Futura, Infinitas Live, and ABC Unlimited, into AXIA models. Now, riders can set the car to self-driving mode and enjoy more of their favourite online pastimes.

Also this week, The Coffee Shop announced their acquisitions of iChat and Clockwork, two extremely popular global picture/video based social media outlets based in the GK. iChat, used for image sharing and SMS connectivity, and Clockwork, a short video sharing network mainly used as a comeic outlet, are both staples of the GK social media scene, and are virtually omnipresent amongst youth in the GK and in some cases, abroad. Although TCS CEO Sam Payne stressed that very little noticeable changes would come to the platforms or how they are run, a decent amount of iChat and Clockwork users expressed concern over The Coffee Shop's acquisition, taking issue with the platform's notoriously open policy towards advertisement, stating, largely, that the Shop would be "farming" the platforms for further advertisement revenue. Payne responded on his personal page on the Shop, stating that such would not be the case, and that corporate is "fully aware" of the discontent with their platform's advertisement policy, reaffirming that they are working on a consumer-satisfaction priority reform.

This week in sport... Allershire City capped off a historic undefeated championship run in the United Premier League, winning the trophy with an absolutely stunning 32W-8D-0L league run. The last and only other undefeated championship run in UPL history happened in 1968, when Astralon FC sweeped the league with a number of controversial victories. Analysts, having been predicting Allershire City to take a championship title this year, taking into account previous years of buildup, now almost unanimously agree that Allershire City's current roster under the Parcian General Manager Manuel Leon is the single greatest football team the UPL has ever produced. The team, led by the emphatic Great Kingdom national skipper and center midfielder, Trevor Fowler, is also now notated as the Great Kingdom's second most record-breaking team, collectively winning almost all of the UPL's seasonal awards. Collectively, they won both the All-Star Team and Most Entertaining Team awards by UPL analysts. Other award winnings include: Trevor Fowler - Field Player of the Year (all around best ratings and stats), Ethan Hartmann - Most Goals of the Year (36, second most in UPL history behind Lance Forester's 38 in 2004), Lenhua Mao - Goalkeeper of the Year (28 clean sheets, most in UPL history), Hernan Tavares - Rising Star of the Year (23 goals in debut season, third most in UPL history).

In esports, the last CSGO Major of the year, OGL's Infinity Series, hosted at the Grand Eden complex in Golden Bay, ended with a bang in the longest final match in CSGO professional history, as the home pitch's NxG Galaxy and Edenguard's Overt Sense battled into quadruple overtime in the third map, with NxG eventually taking the hard-fought win. This would also represent the most-viewed and talked about single match in CSGO professional history, with over 3.1 million people tuning in to the Flide Live broadcast, and trending on Flide for well over a week. After a dominant 2018 by NxG, Overt Sense, a team comprising fully of Artalian and Anowan players and staff, set out to rise to the competition, stating that 2019 would be their rise, and that 2020 would be their year. Strikingly, they more than backed up their talk, forcing seemingly untouchable NxG roster into the toughest game of their careers in a major final, taking the loss with nothing but positivity and determination for the next Major in 2020. Overt Sense's vocal and prideful team captain and flexible rifler, Jan Halversson (shocksy), stated that the match was only a confirmation of what the team had been saying all year, and that 2020 would without question be their year at the top, finally deposing of NxG, the overlords of the past two years. NxG's 18 year old wonderkid AWPer and player of the match, Fuhua Yang (unReaL), who pulled off perhaps the most insane and hyped AWP double ace in the history of CSGO during the match, stated that he thinks that 2020 is going to be a fun year and much more competitive than 2019. His latter comment was met with the expected outrage and banter on Flide.

Alexa d'Aurelio pictured for a photoshoot
in the buildup to the release of Silver Lining
This week in music and entertainment... Alexa d'Aurelio dropped her now wildly popular breakout album, "Silver Lining." Although it is grounded in mainstream electronic pop and progressive house, the album also features wild variations in genre, including rap and wave tracks. The album features Silkroad (Vincent Alton), Young Blues (Andre James), and Blake Miller on the rap tracks, who have already become household names for their works such as Alton's "Liquid Gold" and Miller's "Graysoul." d'Aurelio complements the rappers with steady and entrancing vocal choruses, providing lead-ins and complements to the more quickfire street style lyrics of the famed rappers. The album features a number of wave-style tracks produced by 99 DΔL (Dalton Lee) and DDC (Cameron Altergott), the names considered widely responsible for making wave music the breakout genre of 2019. Currently, 13 of the album's 18 tracks are featured in the GK's Top 50 Charts, with 3 in the Top 10 ("SadRich" prod 99 DΔL #1, "Unbothered" ft Young Blues #4, "Future Love" #6).

This week also saw the release of the second season of Farlands, a popular sci fi thriller, on Infinitas Live, as well as the sequel in the "Astral Death" film series, a sci fi horror film series taking place in 550 CE, the start of the decline of Roman Eden. These releases dominated the television entertainment talk of the week, but there were also more important announcements, such as the renewal of over four then-cancelled television series' under Futura's streaming platform, which expect to garner a futher half a dozen million subscribers optimistically.

Just yesterday, a massive influencer party hosted at the NxG Entertainment Group's lodging in the Infinitas Complex at the center of Edenguard, was reportedly "swatted," causing the Edenguard Metropolitan Police, one of the busiest and most well funded police forces in the world, to send a fully armed CTU to the building. The call falsely reported a firearm threat in the lodgings, and was reportedly called due to a couple of the influencers, being IRL streamers, live streaming the whole event (they were also able to stream the whole CTU incursion). The CTU, armed to the teeth, shut down the whole party, detaining several influencers including Shotty and Whatwhy. All those detained were eventually released, and no firearm was found on the property. The caller, all the way in Astralon, was arrested and is awaiting charges and trial now. Many people also criticised the Edenguard Metro Police for not immediately identifying the call as a prank, given that streams of the event were up and running at the time. Metro authorities responded by saying it was "uncharateristic" for them to miss something like this, and that they are actively taking "every" required step to fully modernise and identify life-endangering pranks such as what occurred.

Caesar Lucius Atrius Celsus Announces Roman Policy Changes

New Rome, NIR – Caesar Celsus signed his first bill into law today, an omnibus legislation changing the direction of the policies of this Roman nation. The first policy is that the Romans will no longer be an empire. Due to this change in the Roman nation, the name and flag are both being changed. The Novus Imperium Romanum is now the Res Pulbica Romana, with the following flag:

Image

The RPR has officially stated in this law that they will no longer be seeking to expand their borders, officially admitting that that was their policy in the past.

The Caesar also will be issuing an official apology to the people of Gileanian Province for the crimes of the previous regime, and for the Roman’s historical treatment of the Gileanian people. In addition, Caesar Celsus has invited the leaders of the Gileanian separatist organization, the Gilanae Publica Exercitus, to a neutral location to discuss the independence of Gileana. Celsus said “The Roman people have given a major misjustice to the Gileanian people since your inception. I know there is a lot of mistrust between us, but I wish to take the first steps in mending the wounds.”

The meeting is set for next month in the Achaean Confederation. The Caesar, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs Favonia Calvina will be meeting with 3 leaders of the GPE, and 3 leaders of the pro-Rome, Sicilean dominated Exercitus ab Roma.

Both organizations rose after the Third Gileanian War, and occupation by Roman forces. The GPE has been attacking Romans and EAR. EAR forces retaliate in kind. Roman troops have attempted to stop both organizations, but to no avail. The Caesar hopes this meeting will help mend ties. The Caesar has also committed to make Gileanas an independent country.

New Donnish Times
Long Live the State!
Donnish Frigate reported missing, last known to be in international waters between Valaran and Velmira.

1 Hour ago, Turets Beteurg, Senior International Reporter(@TurtsBet).
Bögt, Donner Land

Military sources have informed us and other news outlets that the DNS Dark Sea, a Donnish La Fayette Class Frigate, has gone missing in international waters between Valaran and Velmira, the Dark Sea was sent on a standard patrol mission setting sail from Soraught. No maintenance issues were reported on the ship that would have prevented it from going, as well as nothing that would explain it's sudden disappearance. The Military has not given any reason as to why it has lost contact with the ship and cannot find it on satellite photos, so it appears that they are as dumbfounded and confused as us here on the land.

What the Military has said is to not panic, but one cannot help but drift their mind in the darkest places when considering the consequences. What has become of the Dark Sea, are they simply lost, or have they been sunk by an unknown and hostile country or organization? Or was it an accident of some sort?

Discussion in the Government Civilian Council has given us little hope of its safety either, as all sides are using the disappearance of the Dark Sea as Political Ammunition against each other's opponents for the coming Presidential and Civilian/Military Council Elections. Rumors abound that a Velmiran Cruise Missile destroyed the ship due to the rising tensions in the Vale Region, however, these are just rumors and nothing has been confirmed, the Military has also gone to say in the press meeting that they are sure that this is not a result of the Vale Crisis, but all cards are on the table. Velmira has not officially said anything on the matter yet, likely due to being busy with the still ongoing Vale Talks in the UoAE.

The DNS Dark Sea has been in service with the Donnish Navy for nearly a decade and was slated for decommissioning in 2024 in hopes of scrapping it and replacing it with the greatly hailed "Donnish Military New Navy Plan" which started with the unveiling of the Tutten Class CGN Nuclear Guided Missile Cruisers, culminating in multiple purchases of Foreign and Domestic Ships across the world with an increased naval budget due to combining the Marine Corps with the Donnish Navy.

The effects of this event, along with the Vale Crisis and the Anowan Actions will surely have an effect on the Donnish Elections and the years to come as Moderate and Conservative poll numbers rise which threaten the Liberal Domination that the Faction has been able to enjoy since the Second Helsan War. The New Donnish Times will continue to report on this changing situation as updates continue and more information comes in.

Urranese Destroyer Reroutes to Aid Search for Donnish Frigate

The MoD has announced that the guided missile destroyer, URS Miyako was rerouted from a planned port visit to Valaran to aid the international community in the search for a Donnish Navy frigate that suddenly disappeared near Velmira.

DNS Dark Sea was on a routine deployment when contact was lost. Sources within the Donnish military say that the vessel had no previous history of accidents, and so far the lack of debris or oil slicks has left searchers scratching their heads. Donnish media has stated that it is not confirmed that the vessel is sunk, though the possibility remains.

URS Miyako was the nearest asset the government had to participate in the search and is equipped with a variety of systems to aid in recovery efforts including two medium helicopters and mine hunting sonar that could be used to locate any wreckage. Urran has offered to deploy search and rescue assets to Valaran to further assist in the hunt for the missing frigate.

This Week in Anowa
15/01/2020

This Week in Arts and Entertainment The 6 part mini-series The Anvil of Heroes, a dramatization of the Battle of Port Heliostadt of the Kubatian Insurrection, has entered post production. Each hour long part of the series follows one of the six individuals who participated in that battle to receive Ilian's Star, the highest decoration given for military service in Anowa. It has been stated that up to 40% of the cast of the series were present during the battle, with four of the six awardees taking their own parts.

The writer Johan Lawson has passed away at the age of 86, the writer, known for his critically acclaimed high fantasy series The Cowls, is survived by his wife, daughter, and two grand daughters. Unfortunately, the final book of the 12 novel and almost 4.6 million word epic The Redoram was reportedly incomplete, issues with finishing the series' conclusion were due to increasingly failing health. The status of the final chapter remain in limbo, though the hope that the late Mr. Lawson left enough notes behind to finish, or at least get a resolution to the story is present.

The Pythian Summerjam, the annual culture and lyfestyle festival on the titular Island off the coast of Kubati, has renewed it's contract with the Anowan Gov't for the 21st consecutive year. Schedule to run from late June to early July, lineups for entertainers and special guests have already been announced, including the renowned DJ Cr4zyhorse, and animal rights activist Vigtýr Hróðólfurson.

This Week in Science The Effects of Common Performance Enhancing Drugs on the Psychology and Behavior of Non-Human Great Apes was published for the public to read, to much outrage and curiosity. The research paper has been stated as a 'gross bastardization of scientific progress' and is largely seen as a waste of both time and resources, the paper has not stated if the animals involved were euthanized or not. The findings of the paper seem to be nothing more than expected, an increase of aggression on the parts of the animal and with very little benefit to scientific understanding, outside of this seemingly obvious resolution. Calls have been made to revise Anowan law on scientific ethics, but as of yet, no official comment from the Anowan gov't has been made.

On the exact opposite end of the spectrum, Anowan students at the Terrenus Academy of Military Science have developed a proper long term treatment for Sickle Cell Anemia. Extracting bone marrow from the patient before putting them through rounds of chemotherapy to kill the remaining bone marrow, before introducing a CRISPR edited bone marrow to jump start production of fetal hemoglobin. The production of fetal hemoblogin leads to a much lower chance of Vaso-occlusive crisis, the painful hallmark of SCA. Along with the Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and a similar Acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatment using Chimeric T-Cells -developed by the same university in 2017- are the increasingly positive legacy left behind by the horrid Olympian program.

The Single Stage Multi Booster Shuttle Craft (SSMBSC) "Sleipnir III" was launched from Cape Keiro in Kubati earlier this week on the long term operation to accurately map the world's coastlines. While initially mapping the coastline from the UoAE across Velmira and finishing in Erebonia, the plan for the craft changed when it was requested to attempt to search for the Donnish frigate Dark Sea. It wasn't until yesterday that any news was delivered, with reports of a sunken ship roughly proportioned to the Dark Sea, with recent oil slicks on the surface indicating that the vessel was sunk more recently than could be possible with ships of previous wars. With hopes of perhaps some sailors remaining alive, the coordinates of the sunken craft have been provided to states coordinating in the search and now, rescue of the ship and her crew.

This Week in Politics Princess Lise Grimsdottir-Vogt was arrested in the Old Quarter of Terrenus for inciting a civil disturbance this last Wednesday. What started as a peaceful demonstration for the government to abolish the Overseer Council -an oligarchic collection of unelected military officers and select few civilian officials which ultimately dictate what is and isn't passed on to be law- turned to violence when the RAMP arrived to monitor the situation, a reputation for ending protests under the pretense of imminent riot resulted in a flash mob, literally and figuratively, mobbing the officers, 3 of which were wounded. A total of 11 arrests have been made, with Princess Lise being one of them. Known quite universally as the most politically outspoken member of the royal family, Princess Lise is a self described social democrat, with a reported 80% of her annual salary being forwarded to charities, directly to medical research grants, or towards cultural and musical festivals. A notably rebellious soul, Princess Lise has had a long list of legal infractions usually resulting in hefty fines, but despite this remains politically and socially active with the country at large.

This Week in Defence the respective militaries of Arktic as well as Anowa have begun research into the mass usage of both unmanned aerial and ground vehicles. While this project is nothing more than a public declaration of cooperation, the recent sale of Anowan airframes to Arktic, as well as cooperation with Arktic's nuclear reactor projects and the recently completed KA-16 (previously the Advanced Cicrumpolar Fighter) indicate a very deep level of understanding and commitment between the two nations, in accordance with the recently founded Circum Polar Defence Initiative declared between the two states. Anowan Naval activity has also heightened in the polar regions with the Carrier Group Kit III now being tracked through the region.

This Week in General the mangled remains of the Pteleraki Trade Center still continue to be picked through 4 months later. With several dozen first responders still missing with uncounted victims still being found, the haze of dust and smoke around the city still has yet to fully dissipate. The Anowan Gov't has yet to publicly release the culprit or organizers of the attack, stating "We would rather have concrete and unavoidable fact to run off of, rather than simply point fingers and cause more needless death and destruction." Regardless of the outcome, hearts still weep for the tragedy that befell the previously 764 meter tower.

I'm telling you, it's a false flag of a false flag to implicate the Anowan government implicating the Sishaians, in reality it was probably the globalists, dictators and commies over in Luscios. We gotta cap them before we get capped ourselves!

Ex-Mayor Arrested Over Ties to Infamous Cult

Kanzaki Regional Police apprehend Ex-Mayor Gurudo in his own home this evening

A t 6:40 PM SET, regional authorities has arrested Ex-Mayor of Haruta Ieda Gurudo and his wife Akiho following their ties to the Church of Kasei's Wrath, an infamous cult with a long-history of crimes involving kidnapping, money laundering, and gruesome murder for the past two decades, including the shootout in the Hanigoro dockyards in 2019.

The arrest was made following an anonymous informer providing evidence indicating their connections, including logs, old documents and photos of the two during a 'sacred retreat' in a yet to be identified location and after thorough verification of said evidence to ISAE. According to the informer, he and his wife were one of the top financiers to the cult during his reign as Mayor, which was corroborated by the documents provided by the informer, including private logs from 2013 to 2017 that showed him funneling money to accounts linked to the cults that following a subpoena to the Central Bank of Esgonia, amounted to a total of 400 thousand Faulks. This also included automatic weapons and surgical equipment.

During the raid, authorities had found 35 'snuff' tapes of several individuals, most of which were allegedly ex-cult members whom had disappeared from 2008 to 2015, a case which he was allegedly involved with back in 2016, but was dropped due to lack of hard evidence. They also found shipping logs from 2010 onwards linked to the cult and multiple other cult materials including books and other works by the Church. Both Ieda and Akiho refuse to speak to the media following their arrest, along with the extended family.

Following this case, ISAE and the FSB has now conducted further investigation into the Kanzaki region's local government, and has stated that the documents found in the raid and by the informer will greatly help in reducing the influence of the Church and other banned religious sects in the region. the Federal Council has yet to make a statement regarding this.

Protests At GRCS Council Amid Ongoing National Disarmaments

Olympia, URA, GRCS

Nongean President Choi Ji-Hoon raised concerns during this month's in-person GRCS Council meeting about the continuing disarmament of the subordinate national militaries of the GRCS. While Pragmata has never had a proper military, and Alenterra and Namavar have already disarmed, Nongea is currently in the process of disarmament, with Zhangua slated to begin full disarmament soon after.

Recently, local and national level law enforcement and gendarmerie units in constituent nations were similarly liquidated or integrated into the Remnant Internal Security Agency, allowing for a singular unified law enforcement agency in the GRCS. Member nations made this concession knowing that their militaries were still in operation.

Opponents of the ongoing disarmament argue that the central Remnant Avtarkiya is forcing this action in order to further elevate the URA among fellow member nations as well as to stave off the impending economic recession that many experts say is in the future of the GRCS. President Ji-Hoon was quoted as saying "The continued weakening of the Nongean state not only removes the possibility of Nongean secession in future generations, but creates further evidence of Sinican needs being seconded to the Roskian-majority central states. Without an organized armed force, our identity will surely be subsumed by the larger state, and without our ability to defend our own interests, the URA will begin to decide the interests of Nongea, at gunpoint if necessary."

Meanwhile, supporters of the policy point out that lessening the overabundance of military equipment is cost-effective and frees up funds used to maintain those extra forces for other programs, both for the individual nation as well as for the GRCS treasury, as well as the logistical nightmare involved in trying to coordinate the supply and training of what was seven, and now four, separate military forces which all use different weapons and vehicles. President Drake of the URA, and chairman of the GRCS Council himself stated "This disarmament only serves to remove the walls between the separate nations of the GRCS and strengthen our ties as our soldiers begin to work together under one military force. One nation and one people, with one military serving for the benefit of all. They will train under one doctrine, on the same equipment. Our nation will soon no longer need multi-month training exercises just for the purposes of learning each other's stratagems."

Despite protests by members of the Nongean government, Nongea is still in the process of disarming units. Today, several reserve Army units were officially disbanded after being slowly downsized and their equipment either sold off or decommissioned. Further disbanding ceremonies are scheduled to happen regularly.

In addition, while Namavar and Alenterra have each already completely disarmed, the Remnant Military has seen an increase in the number of Pragmatan, Alenterran, and Namavarian recruits, both in the Auxiliary and in regular military units. Prominent Namavarian and Alenterran military officers have been offered similar positions within the Remnant Military. Modenian military members, especially veterans of the Winter War and the Siege of Erong, have been given honorary ranks and awards in the Remnant Military and have been offered positions in most Remnant military academies and training centers. These trends and policies are likely to continue with other member states.

Military Rule of Guangdong, Guangxu to Continue as Democracy Talks Stall in Parliament

Gunagzhou, Guangdong Province-
Negotiations to allow the democratization of Urran's two Sishai territories stalled today as talks broke down in the Urranese Capital, Oita.

Members of Parliament met today to discuss the future of the Urranese territories, though tempers flared as rival factions clashed in an already heated debate over territorial sovereignty and just how much freedom the federal government wishes overseas territories to have.

The Urran Right Coalition led by the Urran First Party, People's Republican Party, and Christian Democratic Party put forth the notion that the future governors of the territories should be chosen directly by a vote in Parliament, with little to no input from what the coalition has called "imperial subjects".

The Urranese Social Democratic Coalition, led by the Green Party, People's Democratic Party, and the Urran Humaitarian Party, fearing what they have labeled a "take over by the conservatives and power grab by the Prime Minister" countered with the view that the territories should be free to elect their own governors as with mainland Urranese prefectures, citing Urran's tarnished image after chemical weapon usage allegations could be repaired by allowing more freedoms within its greater empire.

A compromise seemed imminent with the proposition that the Parliament, in coordination with the Prime Minister could be allowed to select a number of candidates that could then be voted on by the imperial populace. Talks hit a wall when the subject shifted to how these candidates would be chosen. Members of both sides opted instead to walk out and Parliament is now on a weekend recess.

As it stands the territories of Guangdong and Guangxu are currently under military administration and martial law. Parliament has allowed democratic concessions and the city of Gunagzhou recently elected their first mayor since Urran assumed control of the region.

Democracy in the Urranese territories has been a hot button political topic both internally and internationally. Recent supreme court rulings dictate that citizens of the former Azen regions are not Urranese citizens and as such are not covered by the Urranese Constitution. Citizens of these territories are granted the title of Urranese Imperial Citizens and are issued different passports and subject to different laws.

Fears of rebellion and acts of terrorism means that the Urranese military still patrols the streets, along with certain divisions of the Urranese Federal Police, though police academies have begun graduating local officers to enforce rule of law on the islands.

The issue has caused a rift to form in Parliament, with many fearing the merging or splitting of the major parties. Election trends show Urran moving more towards a two party system with an anonymous professor of political science at Oita University saying that "the lines between parties in the two major coalitions are becoming blurred with every election cycle."

A political survey conducted by the same university showed that 60% of Urranese do not believe in granting the former Azen regions further autonomy. Laws banning the distribution of material that could be seen as promoting separatism are in place in the imperial regions, so similar surveys were unable to be conducted on the imperial populace.

New Donnish Times
Long Live the State!
Vanquarian Spy captured in C.I.B Raid after information leak. Donnish Aircraft loaded with munitions spotted taking off from Eastern Air Bases.

50 Minutes ago, Turets Beteurg, Senior International Reporter(@TurtsBet).
Bögt, Donner Land

A Vanquarian Spy was apprehended today in Roal City in what we now know as a multiple month-long investigation that lead from an Embezzlement operation in the
ship construction industry, with their goal reportedly likely being to disrupt and cripple the expansion of the Donnish Naval Fleet. The C.I.B lead the investigation in secret until the apprehension when they could nail a suspect and bring them in. The show of force included multiple teams of Federal Police who arrested the Spy themselves and a number of other co-conspirators, of whom are facing charges of Treason, punishable by death, the first in years. The Spy themselves, however, are being held in custody until the Government and Vanquaria can reach a deal on how to deal with this situation. In the meantime, the Donnish Civilian and Military Councils and President Arlehg Rurts have issued an official Condemnation on Vanquaria for this violation of International Law and the violation of Donnish Law.

The Donnish Military Council has responded by apparently by ordering Eastern Airbases to send up flights of Aircraft armed with Air to Ground munitions, as social media accounts report of seeing ASF-40s taking off with bombs loaded underneath them. Nothing has been heard about strikes occurring in Vanquaria as of yet, however, this show of force is likely not for nothing, as the readiness level for the Military is now indicating the possibility of conflict. No reserves as of yet have been called up. We can, however, guess that the likely targets for Air Strikes in Vanquaria may very well be military bases. The MIlitary Council has confirmed that strikes are not occurring and that these are simply a "just-in-case" measure for future contingencies and war in all possibility is not likely. Citizens' minds should be eased by this, but one cannot help but see that tensions are once again flaring up between the two old rivals, despite the growing problems in the Vanquarian State.

Vanquaria's government relies on an ordered and clear succession given its nature as a despotic autocratic monarchy, and it's Autarch's health is in less and less good condition, meanwhile, their heirs all share different mothers due to the Autarch's tendency to a Harem, which leads to even more unreliability to the succession of who should come next compounded with how many there are. The Autarch has also not designated a successor, which may very well lead to a succession crisis should the scenario play out correctly. Additionally, a movement for a more democratic and free Vanquaria has been steadily growing as more and more ways to subvert any cultural security in place is found, such as internet proxies, steadily growing into open protest despite harsh crackdowns. Although Vanquaria's Hegemony has long since fallen, its story is not yet over, but this scenario could very well spell its end.

What this could mean for Helsa and Ashai geopolitically may be groundbreaking, as a new state or multiple new states take it's placed, though such a change in power will probably mean the population will suffer in some way or another greatly and impact the greater economy in a negative way. Regardless, the ongoing events today are very telling of what may occur tomorrow and later on after that.

"Senatus Populusque Romanus"

Roman Sea Nations Announce New Treaty

Romos, Remun – After months of deliberating, since October 17, 2019, delegates from the Res Publica Romana, Remun, Islas Romanas, Macenae, and the Achean Confederation have announced that they have reached a final agreement in their 5 month deliberations. This conference had gone 3 months longer than expected, but several snags had to been soothed over with the reformation of the NIR into the RPR, says a source with knowledge of the meeting.

The treaty extends the Roman Sea Free Trade Agreement (RSFTA) to all states in this agreement, which adds Remun to it. RSFTA has also been combined to the Roman Sea Defense Agreement (RSDA) adding Macenae, and the Achean Confederation to that agreement. This omnibus agreement does not include a monetary union, as the NIR turned RPR had wanted. In addition, no unified military or legislative body will be established, as had been brought up in the conference. However, all members of this agreement must join the Pan-Luscios unity organization RVR (RVRA). The treaty agreement alliance is called the Roman Sea Pact.

This treaty will go to the Republican Senate for approval. The other member states will have similar approval processes. Approval is expected within the coming week.

Update: BREAKING NEWS
Caesar Lucius Atrius Celsus, along with Viceroy Shinzon, President Fernand Maret, President Raphail Tolelis, and President Opiter Chronou, the leaders of Remun, Islas Romanas, Macenae, and the Achean Confederation, respectively, have made an appearance after the announcement of the CIRS. They announced that another agreement had been made earlier in the day in the Achean Confederation. The meeting between Roman Foreign Affairs Minister Favonia Calvina, the leaders of Gilanae Publica Exercitus, and the leaders of Exercitus ab Roma have come to an agreement over the fate of the Sicilonian Province of the RPR.

It was announced that the Sicilonian Province will be granted independence as a democratic republic. It shall have a Senate, with 10 representatives, 5 from each state. These states follow the old national borders of Gileanas and Sicilonia. This new nation, the Republic of Gilionia, was also allowed to join the CIRS, allowing them open access to open and free trade in the Roman Sea. This also allows their new gotten sovereignty to be protected from any forces that may wish to snatch it away, whether that may be a neighbor taking it by force, or a foreign power taking it though infiltration.

Gilionia will forward their application to the RVRA within the next week.

Prime Minister to Step Down, New Elections to be Held

Oita- In a press conference in the gardens of the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Saki Hanajima and Vice Minister Noburo Kaneko announced their intentions to resign their positions following weeks of protests and political turmoil that saw a free fall in the PM's public approval.

"Due to the changing political climate and the protests of the Urranese populace, I hereby announce my intentions to resign from the office of Prime Minister, and call upon parliament to allow a snap election to select my replacement as soon as is reasonably possible." Hanajima announced. "It is obvious that my political views are no longer aligned with my own party and that of the majority of the Urranese people, who I was elected to serve."

The announcement comes after lengthy protests both in parliament and in the streets in response to Hanajima's softening stance towards the Federation, flirtatious relationship with the Dominion, and inaction on mounting tensions around the globe, particularly in the Vale region.

The move has met approval both in Parliament and publicly. Speaker of the House Tsai Ing Wen announced Parliament's intentions to accept the Prime Minister's resignation, with new elections to be held within three weeks.

"It is about bloody time". Said Urran First Party member Tetsuyo Tanaka. "The Prime Minister made campaign promises to the Urranese people about towing a harder line in Sishai and with the Dominion. After being elected she began showing support for both. Her foreign policy has been abysmal. The one good thing I can say is that the economy is doing well, but that will change as the world continues to spiral."

"I'm very happy." Said one demonstrator outside Parliament Hill. "Foreign policy was the largest issue last election following Urran's admission into the Union and Pact. We gathered here feel that the Prime Minister lied on the campaign trail. This is a big win for us."

This event may have come as a shock to some, but not to Dr. Shinzo Wakayama, professor of political science at Oita University. "The Prime Minister ran on one platform, but began making compromises early on with the minority coalition." He said in an interview. "I believe she thought that she could make new allies and that her own party and its coalition would support her no matter what out of a sense of loyalty and she would be able to get away with whatever she wanted with the new super majority. She has paid for her betrayal. I am certain her political career is over."

A survey done by the same university department showed a number of things. Public support for sterner treatment of the Federation and Dominion is at an all time high. Instability in both entities has lead to a certain uneasiness that could lead to an economic downturn if the trend continues.

An issue that the PM has been criticized for internationally, as well as at home, is her refusal to commit any sort of aid to PACT with regards to the tensions in Vale. The aforementioned politically survey showed that Urran remains divided on the issue. Those that wish to maintain that stance seem to have the slight majority at just over 42% with another 40% pro intervention, and another 18% uncertain. The issue has seen public support for Donnerland and Valaran tank, continuing a worrying trend of chilling relations with the Union as a whole.

Hanajima is the first Urranese PM to ever resign their post. Ministerial hopefuls looking to replace Hanajima are expected to begin a historically short campaign season within the next few days.

This Week in Donner Land
Turts Beturehg (@turtsbet)
07/17/2019 | Bogt, Donosklan

This week in defence... The status of the Krasnian Defense Force as well as the deployed Donnish Troops training, advising and assisting in the defense of Krasnia in the Vale is called into Question as to whether or not it will be suffecient for a possible, although decreasingly unlikely, confrontation with Rukh over the distinct possibility that Donnish and Krasnian forces may be overrun in a matter of 5 to 6 days rather than the touted and advertised three week hold out until Donnish Military Forces can mobilize a response. The main issue? There simply isn't enough manpower to stop the waves upon waves of Ruhkian armor Divisions that they could bring to bear. Upon being asked by the Civilian Council in an Internal Government Inquiry, the Donnish Military Council explained that three weeks was a Liberal estimate and the Conservative estimate was around one week.

Despite this revelation about Donnish Preparedness in the vale, the main objective appears to be and remains to be averting War in Krasnia altogether as said in President Arlehg Rurts' previous speech during a Civilian Council meeting (the same one in which he decried President Vanzen Keenes), accomplishing minimal loss of life and the preservation of the Krasnian Economy, Government, and People. However, whether or not Donner Land is involved is largely not up to Donner Land or Krasnia and out of their control.

Further plans to expand the deployment to Krasnia have not as of yet been put up to vote, however with elections drawing near, Politicians are apprehensive to do anything that may hurt their chances of reelection and the System is undergoing its periodical freeze-up around this time that will virtually kill any chances at more forces being sent to the region. Such inaction like this may very well become the Achilles Heel in a future defense in Krasnia in the event of an Invasion by Rukh which ultimately may lead to the fall of Donnish Influence in the Vale.

This week in politics... Many of those concerned about the coming Council Elections will soon have to go to the ballot and vote as the date comes closer and closer to the present. But the outlook for Liberal Faction Members in the country is rather grim as President Arlehg Rurts continues to self-sabotage the movement of the Liberal Faction with a combination of faux pas and poor foreign policy decisions, nominally the admission of Donner Land into the Atlantic Pact. It's likely that the Moderates and Conservatives will swing back into power over the Council should action not be taken to reverse this scenario. The greatest threat to the Liberal Faction retaining control over the Council is regaining the trust of the people in order to retain their vote, however, the public opinion of the Government and Liberal Faction, in general, is swaying away towards the Conservatives in the demographics as of our last poll.

This week in business and development... The Titanium Price Coalition between Donner Land and Anowa has lead to stable prices of the rare mineral used mostly in Research, Aerospace, and Defense. Despite criticism about whether or not this will lead to price gouging, the price of Titanium exported to other countries for use in the last said categories of the economy has only gone up by less than 1% mostly due to inflation and the rising and lowering currency exchange rates between countries. Economic Experts, however, are concerned that this could lead to an abusive monopoly should a crisis of some sort have this sought after mineral become more of a premium.

The Donnish side of the Titanium Agreement has reassured stockholders that Titanium will still remain at a stable price regardless of a crisis or some other unforeseen event due to contingencies. Stating that the only thing that could for sure destroy the Titanium industry would be something that makes the mining operations themselves begin to fail, such as a close-by unlikely Nuclear Accident or a even more unlikely geological event that could cause closure and therefore a shortage of material.

Kanzo Wins Election, Promises Changes

Oita- Following the shortage election cycle in Urranese history, Urran First Party member Uchimura Kanzo has been inaugurated as Prime Minister of the Republic, beating out Green Party Fuji Saito, People's Democratic Party Yoshito Hyuga, and Socialist Party Yuri Tachibana.

Three short weeks was enough to buy the Urran First Party and Urran Right Coalition another victory, beating members of the New Urran Left in what has been called a landslide victory, despite the failings of the previous PM.

Kanzo ran on promises of increased care for the elderly, support for families, and a foreign policy plan that will see Urran become increasingly involved in external affairs.

Kanzo promised ease of care for the elderly, included increases in transportation allowances that he claims were "far too low" and "limited senior's abilities to travel". Seniors in Urran can turn in their driver's licenses in exchange for limited free public transportation. Kanzo's policies will see sweeping expansions to this system, allowing elderly individuals to travel farther. "It is only right" said Kanzo "That our elders are taken care of and have the right to travel to see their families and run errands without having to worry about using their free miles each month."

The new PM also promised education and economic reforms for families of four or more. Policies include expanding state sponsored voucher and scholarships for private schools and universities. Transportation was again on the agenda, with Kanzo making a proposal that primary and secondary education students get free public transport between home and school. Families will still have to pay to travel to other destinations, such as work or recreational areas. The PM also promised to speak to industry leaders in Urran to help keep productivity up and costs of living down in Urran, especially for families. "The people of Urran have a moral obligation to have good families and raise good children" Kanzo said. "They cannot do that without our help."

Urran's foreign policy has come under fire both at home and abroad within the last administration. The new PM has promised sweeping changes to Urran's foreign policy including taking tougher stances on the Dominion, and ramping up its support for its allies in order to save face on the international stage.

"I would like our allies to know that we are back." Kanzo announced. "My administration will adopt the philosophy of putting Urran, its interests, and its citizens above all else. However, our allies should know that Urran First does not mean Urran alone. It is the moral duty of every nation to put its people first. As Prime Minister I will endeavor to give all possible aid to our allies, provided the Urranese people are safe with roofs over their heads and with full bellies. To all nations, I repeat, we will strive to put our people first, but we will comfort the sick, help the wounded, and support our friends. To our enemies, you will not go unchallenged. To the Dominion, I urge you to use wisdom. Should you continue to try to manipulate Urran or itsallies and threaten them with violence, we will respond in kind. Threats will not intimidate or sway us. If you test us, you will fail."

Kanzo went on to announce a reversal to Hanajima's policy of avoiding the Vale issue, claiming that avoiding responsibility was "morally reprehensible". "My predecessor was correct in saying that the blame is on Donnerland and Valaran, however, it would be wrong and sinful for us to allow further bloodshed when we could be doing more to alleviate the situation."

Kanzo announced that he was "in contact" with the Donnish government and has offered to send Urranese troops to the region to bolster Donnish and Krasnian forces should tensions boil over. The issue is still a hot button topic in Urran, and it is yet to be seen if Kanzo can sway the public to support potential involvement.

Controversy erupts in Ysitrika as GK and Urranese troops resolve hours-long standoff
Eric Reeves (@ervs)
28/4/2020 | Golden Bay, Eden, Great Kingdom

Image
SAS operatives in the Federation stood at the ready
in the middle of a standoff with an Urranese patrol
in southwest Ysitrika
The tense situation in the Federation only seemed to have gotten worse today, according to confirmed and cross-referenced reports from both the Great Kingdom and Urranese government. Months back, we reported that the Great Kingdom had shown a steady increase of activity in Ysitrika, the southernmost nation part of the Federation. It was immediately apparent that the GK was aiding the Federation against their separatist rebels through a limited air campaign, undertaken almost entirely through armed UAVs launched from RAF Ysitrika, targeting rebel cells and concentrations. As time passed, we began to observe a steady influx of equipment coming into Ysitrika from the GK, most of which was later confirmed to be a network of surface-to-air missile launchers established in the Federation's east as a countermeasure to increased rocket attacks undertaken by the rebels. What had initially gone under our noses was that there was a secondary network of surface-to-air missile launchers being established by the GK along the southern coast of Ysitrika, near to Guangdong. It was outed that RAF Ysitrika was commanding several theatre level ballistic missile defence systems in response to the presence of Urranese ballistic missiles in the occupied Guangdong.

Although the Urranese government made only scant comments on the clear increase in GK activity in Ysitrika, it goes without saying that the situation on the ground was gradually tensing up following the escalations. One important element of the situation to note is that both the Great Kingdom and Urranese governments refused to comment on the nature of their ground operations in the region. While it was reasonably suspected that there was a chance that both nations were operating ground assets in Ysitrika, there had been no proof or confirmation of these suspicions. Until now - and in the most disastrous way.

Reports collated by sources within the Federation and both the Great Kingdom and Urranese governments have confirmed, with both visual, textual, and audible evidence, that both GK Special Air Service troops and Urranese soldiers (possibly special forces as well) are operating in Ysitrika. This was found out only after a potential catastrophe began to take shape in southwest Ysitrika, as the Special Air Service troops, running an extended patrol, came face to face with an Urranese patrol coming down the same road. Both convoys comprised of MRAPs and infantry mobility vehicles, but it was reported that the SAS convoy was accompanied by an ACV-08, one of the GK's most recent and technologically advanced IFVs. Both convoys stopped immediately, and took precautions to prepare for a skirmish as an hour-long standoff ensued before communication was made between the sides. The command chains on both sides insisted that one must not pass the other under any circumstance. Repeated attempts at communication yielded the same results as the soldiers and vehicles remained in place for another hour as they attempted to resolve the issue, while keeping on edge in case the worst case scenario became a reality. As the commands on both sides continued to order them to maintain their position and not let the other pass, signs of restlessness and impatience with one another ensued for a grueling final hour of the standoff, weapons still trained on another. Thing were going absolutely nowhere until, reportedly, Federation troops arrived on the scene to split the two down the middle, and beckoning them to each part ways and turn around, which they eventually did.

The Ministry of Defence has since confirmed that the presence of the Special Air Service regiment is to extend the capacity for the Great Kingdom to aid the Federation government in day-to-day ground operations undertaken against the rebels, and that their presence was unannounced to all but the Federation in order to protect asset identities and keep rebel faction awareness as low as possible. Despite this, it was certified that the SAS detachment was specifically assigned to southwest Ysitrika, an area which is and has been ripe with Urranese activity for several years. For this, the Urranese government chastised that of the GK, with the newly elected Urranese Prime Minister Uchimura Kanzo delivering a response to the matter in a press conference.

"The actions of the unannounced GK soldiers in the Federation are deemed by his government to be both harassment and an insult. It is our belief that the GK is being unreasonable, and deliberately going out of their way to hinder Urranese operations in the region. We would respectfully ask any GK military personnel in the Federation to remain in their sectors, and to avoid encroaching upon any future Urranese operations. Should confrontations of this nature continue, Urran will have no choice but to send additional troops and heavier equipment to safeguard our interests in southwest Ysitrika. Furthermore, this government expresses its utter disappointment in the Federation for its categorical failure to handle the situation in the correct manner. It is embarrassing that it took Federation soldiers over three hours to respond to the situation, nd both disgraceful and shameful that they did not immediately side with their Urranese allies outright. This government encourages the Federation to tread carefully in its dealings with Urran, a nation whihch can and will bring a harder hand to the table if need be."

The Great Kingdom's Minister of Defence, Neville Fenwick, refused to make further comments on the matter, insisting that the Ministry had said all that needed to be said. Despite this, the Prime Minister gave some further insight into the GK's position on the matter, commenting scantly that the Great Kingdom would not entertain any "preposterous accusations," nor would it take any actions to "compromise or diminish" its own interests in the Federation except at the behest of the Federation itself, in its sovereignty.

Since the incident, differing unconfirmed rumours have surfaced online, gaining steam quickly on Flide and TCS. Perhaps the most popular rumour is that the SAS detachment was present in southwest Ysitrika only as an armed reassurance policy for possibly compromised or near-compromised RIA agents operating in the area. They wager that the GK is running signals and intelligence operations on Urranese equipment, movements, and activities in the region, and argue that the only reason that the GK would obtuse enough to deploy combat personnel to the region would be if their operation had the possibility of being compromised and run out of town. Another popular rumour is that the whole ordeal was a setup orchestrated by the Great Kingdom and the Federation in order to embarrass Urran in their part of the pitch. Believers in this cite the uncannily long amount of time nearby Federation troops took to respond to a quickly escalating scene. The last rumour gaining steam was that this was a Great Kingdom operation meant only as a display to the Federation central government, which balances Urran and the GK alike, but the southern Ysitrika favours the GK. While these rumours tend to range from doubtful to completely impossible, it would not be fair to rule them out until further information on the happening surfaces.

This is a perfect example of why we should stop worrying about the affairs of turbopoors across the world, its only taking more money away from us and putting more GK lives at risk. We should not pay any mind to anyone but ourselves, these peasants are not worth our time! #Lockdown #NoImmigrationReform
