He won’t. While his base and many republicans will vote for him the independents are being turned off by him big time. If he loses a lot of independents he’ll lose the election.

Also if shit starts to really come in then the republicans might pressure him to step down rather than having impeachment on record

He'll somewhat recovered I believe but as you said, he's turning Independents away though what could (and would) be the final nail in the coffin is if the economy slows dramatically and hits people's pockets. Then, and only then, is he royally fucked.

Depends on what you mean by "recover". What has he lost? So far, his supporters have been willing to throw away all of their values and principles in order to fall in line behind someone who is different from the establishment. They seem OK with him selling out US interests, and for the time being at least, the Republican party has signed up to this as well.

It's all about down ballot. As long as opposing Trump makes them vulnerable at home they'll support him. If that turns, they will, too.
