Clone Wars: Fallen Icon

Image

For almost a thousand years, the Galactic Republic has been at peace. But now, the incident on Geonosis has shattered that peace and the Republic! The Galactic Republic, the once undisputed power of the galaxy, is now being ripped apart as planet after planet flocks to the Confederacy of Independent Systems lead by Count Dooku. For the last month the Republic’s new Clone Army have fought the Confederacy’s droids in hundreds of systems and on hundreds of planets in all parts of the Galaxy. Across known space planets are forced to choose a side or risk being destroyed in the largest war since the New Sith Wars. With the Battle of Ryloth ending in a Republic victory, the CIS has turned to the strategic world of Kashyyyk. Positioned on a critical hyperspace intersection in Republic Space, the CIS has marshaled a significant force of droid warships to take the forest planet. As the war escalates, neutral parties across the galaxy are taking sides. Criminal syndicates, independent smugglers, and small planetary governments and confederations are now stuck in the middle of war zones that extend all the way from the core and mid rim to the outer reaches of wild space. Military leaders of both sides hold trillions of lives in their hands as the opening moves of the Clone Wars take shape.

Rules

• This is taking place within canon, however all legends content that does not contradict canon content is allowed. The Old Republic era, for example, is ‘canon’ for this RP

• If you wish to RP as an in-universe character you may do so but please contact the OP or a co-OP with an RP sample first. We don’t expect RP samples from everyone, but that doesn’t mean we don’t expect good quality posts.

• You can play as any faction or character you want or create your own, but custom factions must be approved by moderators in an application and must be accompanied by a custom character of that faction you will play as.

• If you are playing as a character or faction within the Republic or CIS you MUST stay with that faction and cooperate with them, no lone wolfing as majors. It’s expected that players will arrange battles with each other OOC, and not simply jump into ongoing ones without permission from the participants.

• Custom factions cannot have worlds canonically belonging to the Republic or CIS on start, and are not going to exceed fifty planets or be very powerful relative to the Republic or CIS on start.

• Playing as an independent smuggler, trader, pirate, or something else is encouraged. Joining as canonical or legends characters for this is encouraged too.

• No super weapons or biological weapons at start or without permission. The Death Star will probably not be participating in this RP, unfortunately.

• The moderators have final say on any internal issues and the right to remove anyone being disruptive or breaking the rules.

• Please be respectful and tolerate players who may not know how to write award winning novels for posts yet.

Geonosis

A solar-sailer, flanked by multiple Vulture-droids streaked the afternoon sky of Geonosis. The large sail of the Geonosian-made shift began to contract as the ship came close to landing on an awaiting port, attached to a large hive. It gently landed on the space port and Geonosian warriors approached. The shuttle door opened and the ramp extended itself onto the platform, a small security detail then a pilot droid exited the craft, before Poggle the Lesser exited himself. The warriors greeted Poggle to Trippa Hive and he proceeded to demand them to take him to the droid factory. The long, endless catacombs of the Trippa Hive finally looked down into the depths of a large and sophisticated droid factory. Hidden from the surface. The convey belts were pushing all B1 Battle Droid Units, which would be the main unit of the new Confederacy of Independent Systems. Poggle arrived to look over the completion of re-pairs to many of the droid facilities after the first invasion - to ensure the manpower would not dry-up. The repairs seemed to have been progressing well, with thousands of individual units being completed everyday. However, as the war was eventuating, Poggle had become increasingly suspicious of Count Dooku. Poggle the Lesser was extremely convicted to the cause of separatism of the Republic; Poggle wanted no Geonosian involvement in the Galactic Senate and supported greater Galactic devolution. But, Count's own motives were questioned by Poggle, who was beginning to believe that he could not trust a Sith (a supreme manipulator) with the fate of the galaxy, should the CIS vanquish the Republic Grand Army. Thus, Poggle had organised to speak to a CIS Admiral who had apparently too been suspicious of the goals of Count Dooku. After touring the droid facility, Poggle made his way to the logistics headquarters where he would contact this CIS Admiral: Targo Makra. Once he could, Poggle would arrange a hologram message with Makra.

The Hyperlane to Kashyyk - The CSS Shili

The Providence Class moved through hyperspace in formation with a Lucrehulk and three Munificent classes. Targo, sitting on the bridge of his warship, was preparing his group for their mission over Kashyyk. The three Munificent class frigates would take station ahead of the Lucrehulk and his own ship, serving as the first line of defense. His tactical droid, T-44, was presently clicking away at a console, taking munitions inventory before deployment. Normally Targo wouldn’t trust a tactical droid or any droid with a vital function when it was more loyal to Dooku than to him, but being able to ‘update’ the software of his droids quelled that feeling of mistrust. T-44 and the other droids had already downloaded the newest “Tactical Planning” software provided by Targo - meaning they were loyal to him, and not Dooku.

Targo was in the middle of reading an intelligence report on the Republic V-19 starfighter on a datapad when a battle droid at the communications console interrupted his thoughts.

“Sir, we have an incoming call.”

Targo glanced up, and put the datapad on the armrest of his chair.

“Who’s it from?”

The battle droid, in typical droid fashion, awkwardly attempted to read out the entire title of the caller.

“It’s from, uh, Archduke of the Stalgasin Hive Pog-“

Targo cut him off, waving his hand dismissively at the droid as he stood up and tried to look presentable.

“I get it, I get it. Just put him on a secure channel please.”

“Roger roger.”

The bridge’s main communications holoprojector flickered on, and the image of the Geonosian archduke appeared in the air.

“Hello, Archduke. Is there a problem on Geonosis?”

Geonosis

Once the hologram message was accepted, Poggle waved over a protocol droid to translate his conversation to the Admiral. Poggle began talking Geonosian and the protocol droid analysed what he was saying. After he finished buzzing, the protocol droid turned to Targo to relay the translation.

"The Archduke would like to wish you well on your seizure of Kashyyk from the Galactic Republic. He would like to invite you to Geonosis after the battle to speak on matters related to the war and the separatist alliance. In particular, the Archduke is interested in discussing Count Dooku with you, should you accept."

Targo kept a neutral expression on his face while he answered. If Poggle was suspicious of Dooku, that meant other members of the Seperatist council might be. Targo was well aware of the reason why the corporations on the Seperatist council backed the CIS and what they stood for - namely money. A coup against Dooku could not involve him being used as a tool to remove Dooku, and then in turn being removed by the Seperatist council. However right now it seemed that Poggle’s goals and Targo’s own goals might align.

“I would be happy to report back to Geonosis for, ah, ‘briefing and reassignment’. Unfortunately at the moment I am tied up at Kashyyk. I’m sure you understand.”

Poggle was extremely pleased that he caught unto what the underlying goal of the meeting was. The protocol droid continued to translate what Poggle was saying:

"Poggle the Lesser understands your current liabilities in Kashyyk and he bestows good fortune upon you. The Archduke has cautioned, however, that you do not be too frivolous with your current fleet. He believes your fleet will be useful in a plan involving the Count."

After the conversation concluded, Poggle would end the transmission.

The call now rather abruptly ended, Targo sat down in his chair again.

“T, wipe that comms record.”

The tactical droid stopped taking inventory on a datapad for a moment and clicked a few buttons on a console to its side.

“As you command. Communications logs wiped.”

Targo considered wiping the memories of every droid on his bridge, but he could do that any time he wanted to. Right now he had a bigger problem, namely the possibility of Republic warships at Kashyyk. The Shili and her fleet would drop out of hyperspace ten minutes after Targo’s conversation with the Geonosian archduke, and with their shields up and weapons charged.

The Naos System

The planet and system of Naos had always been a galactic backwater. The system lacked any strategic use other then being the last stop on the Corellian Run and it lacked any major resources that would have attracted corporations like the Trade Federation. The only habitable planet was a single arid world with minimal flora and fauna that had a single settlement, Navos, with a population of around 1,000 people. A tiny spaceport in orbit of the planet was the only sign thing that would appear on sensors for passing ships, the only port of call past Smuggler's Run. Only explorers, refugees, and criminals ever had any interest in this remote world....until today.

Three ships drop out of hyperspace a few kilometers off of Navos Spaceport, but these ships were not of any known group or faction. Two of them were comparable in size and style to a Republic Ventaor, an elongated tapered triangle with a notable lack of the twin bridges found on Republic vessels. The third ship in the middle was a GR-40 transport vessel, a standard vessel used by trading companies. The spaceport sent out a series of hails that went unanswered as the two capital ships passed the station and entered planetary orbit. The GR-40 made its way between the two unknown vessels and entered the atmosphere heading toward Navos. By this time the Spaceport had readied what little weapons it had and sent out a distress call toward the surface letting them know an attack may be coming. A few minutes later the GR-40 touches down just outside the city and its engines turn off. The entire ship goes dark as the inhabitants of the town begin to barricade themselves in their homes or set up makeshift barricades awaiting whatever was in store for them.

To their surprise the ship's main hanger opens up to reveal an empty cargo hold. After an hour of a standoff, the local militia enters the ship and find it completely empty and all of its logs cleared without a single crew member in sight. The only damaged component on the ship is an auto-navigation system which had appeared to have been programed to destroy itself upon landing. The only thing the settlers can find in regard to the vessel's origin and purpose is a letter in the captain's quarters:

Settlers of Navos and Naos,

You are to vacate this system for the period of one standard galactic year, upon the end of that year you are welcome to return to Naos. This vessel is now yours to transport people and supplies from this planet to a new suitable location of your choosing. Your planet will not be damaged or destroyed in any way but it is likely your settlement will be demolished. You have one local week to leave this world, anyone remaining after that time will be forcibly removed for your safety. We appreciate your cooperation.

With no signature or notion of who these people are the settlers begin to talk among themselves and argue over what they should do. A message is sent to the Spaceport alerting them to what has happened and for the 50 workers aboard to weigh in on the issue. By the end of the day most have decided to leave as the settlement is made up of drifter and explorers, but some decide to stay. This group sends a message to the station which sends a small hyper drive-equiped ship out of one of the docking ports that shoots into hyperspace shortly after launch. The alien vessels made no movements of any sort following the ship's launch. They stayed in orbit and continued their watch over the planet and the spaceport. The ship hurtles toward Republic space, hoping to ask either the Republic of the CIS for aid with this unexpected crisis.

Martius Shan, Maverick, and Nalora
Coruscant
Republic Center for Military Operations

Martius and Maverick peered out a window of the briefing room they currently occupied and looked out at the nearby airfield where the 53rd was assembled and loading equipment and supplies into their vessels. The site was certainly impressive, and seeing the tens of thousands of soldiers readying themselves to deploy, it was hard to believe only a few months earlier the Republic didn't even have a military to speak of. For Martius, it was harder still to believe that all those soldiers out there were now under his command. It was a daunting task to be sure, and one he could only hope his training and studies adequately prepared him for.

"So, what's the estimate on time before we're ready to deploy?" Martius asked his Clone Commander.

"Should be ready by the end of the day General" Maverick replied.

The two then turned around as they heard the door behind them open.

"Sorry I'm late gentlemen" the Duros who entered the room stated while approaching Martius and Maverick to shake their hands. "I'm Agent Zhud with Republic Intelligence..." before he finished speaking the door opened again, but this time a Chiss woman walked in wearing a Republic Naval uniform. "Ah, Admiral Nalora, I presume? Excellent timing. Let's get the briefing started." The Duros activated a terminal in the center of the room that brought up a map of the Galaxy, dotted with symbols indicating army and fleet movements. "Apologies for contacting you all on such short notice, but we've recently received actionable intel that the Separatists are deploying a force of unknown composition to the planet Kashyyyk. As yours are the closest forces not currently committed, we're assigning you to take the vessels you have ready to deploy and report immediately to Kashyyyk to determine the strength of the enemy force there, and if possible, to repel them before the Separatists can establish a beachhead on the planet. Any questions?"

Nalora raised an eyebrow at the sudden order and replied: "Agent, my Squadron is far from ready to deploy; most of our vessels are still stuck in drydock being crewed and supplied, including my flagship. Are there no other units nearby we could divert to the system?"

"None we can currently afford to redeploy" the Duros replied. "I know these circumstances are far from ideal, but I'm afraid at the moment it's the best option we have. For the time being, I recommend transferring your flag to the Victory and coordinating with General Shan; if nothing else, at least it should present an opportunity to get to get to know each other a little better." The Chiss replied by giving the Agent a cold, unimpressed stare. Clearing his throat, the Duros continued: "At any rate, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that time is crucial here, so the sooner you all can get moving, the better. Good luck out there."

As the Duros left the room, Martius, Maverick, and Nalora gave each other uneasy looks over the sudden orders. Breaking the awkward silence, Martius approached Nalora and shook her hand stating: "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Admiral, though I'm sorry it couldn't be under better circumstances. You are more than welcome to join us aboard the Victory if you'd like; just let me know if you need any assistance moving your things there."

"That's quite alright General" Nalora replied "I travel light. If you have no objections, I'd like to head to your ship now and begin coordinating my Squadron; such as it is."

"Of course" Martius replied "Maverick and I will join you shortly, I just have a few things to resolve here before I head up; well, more than a few, really, but I suppose most of it will have to wait."

"Believe me, I know just how you feel General" Nalora replied. "I will see you once you're aboard."

With that the group dispersed and hurriedly carried out their business, departing the system a short time later with a course set for Kashyyyk...

The Naos System

With the week now up and with around 250 settlers still in the town of Navos, the settlers who had evacuated the planet now watched from orbit in their GR-40 as a projectile was launched from one of the two alien vessels. The object screeched through the atmosphere and smashed into the center of town, damaging a market stall. The projectile that had landed was long and cylindrical with four large fins protruding on its size. Moments after landing the projectile began to spray a gas into the atmosphere that quickly covered the town. Within minutes, the remaining settlers were unconscious from the effects of the unknown gas. About a half hour after the gas's dispersal a second GR-40 came out of hyperspace and headed toward Naos. Once it landed, several medical droids and a few B-1 Battle droids exited the craft and gathered the unconscious settlers and brought them to the ship. Once all the settlers were aboard, the ship launched from the planet and entered orbit. The ship flew alongside the first GR-40 and docked with it, the droids bringing aboard the settlers shortly after along with a few medical supplies. The two ships undocked and the settlers began to power away from Naos unsure of what had just transpired or if the aliens were going to make good on their promise that they could return in a year.

The settler's ship jumps into hyperspace, leaving the alien vessels alone in orbit and Naos to an uncertain fate as a new vessel arrives from hyperspace.

Tatooine

Massive separatist supply ships docked in the Space Ports of Mos Eisley, allied territory. Flanked by hordes of Vulture-droids. General Kalani was on a diplomatic and supply mission to a CIS stronghold, in particular to meet with the Warlord who seized control from the Hutts. AAT Tanks were unloaded from the supply ship, at least tens of thousands of B1 Battle Droids and needed supplies for the populace. It was a gift from the Separatist Council for the Warlord's allegiance to the CIS, which was much needed as the battle of Kashyyk raged on. Kalani, along with Magna Guards made their way to meet the Warlord.

"The esteemed General Kalani of the Confederation of Independent Systems has arrived, General."

, the mechanical voice of 76D5, the Jundland General's personal assistant and translator, cut through the silence in this part of the spaceport like a hot knife through butter. More than enough to get the attention of the Jundland General, who'd been staring through the scope of his highly modified cycler rifle, watching the droids unloading the supply ships. To show that he had indeed heard his droid, he shrugged for a moment before taking aim at another point of the spaceport.

It was a band of Tusken Raiders, sitting there at the edge of the spaceport and keeping their distance to the thousands of droids working on the spaceport. The presence of this many machines made them uneasy and the Jundland General knew this. It was why he was here and not at Mos Espa. His personal presence should give his people the feeling that he was on top of things and everything was under control. That and the presence of the plentiful Jawas on the field. He stared through his scope, watching the small creatures bustle around inbetween the droids' legs, obviously trying to guide the machines...and trying to snatch any parts they could that the droids dropped on accident. Then he got General Kalani and his bodyguards into his sight and after giving them a short look over, he lowered his rifle before slinging it over his shoulder so as to appear non-threatening to them. Kalani no doubt thought him a savage and a beast so it would be wise not to incite anything.

"Oheyyyy yökyökyökyööööiii."

"Understood General, I will inform General Kalani of your location."

, 76D5 stated while pressing a few windows on his datapad. Shortly after, General Kalani would be informed by a message about where in the spaceport he could find the Jundland General. He would find him not long after in front of one of the depots of the spaceport, the Jundland General being an impressively tall Tusken, clothed in worn but strong garbs. He was surrounded by atleast a dozen of his people, Tusken Raiders with Gaderffiis in hand.

"Wey welkuurou hö hö hööööö."

"The General welcomes you to Tatooine, General Kalani. What brought about this visit?"

As General Kalani approached, his internal programming ticked away.

Probability of violent encounter: relatively high. His programming spoke to him. Although this was allied territory, it was difficult to trust anyone. Particularly Tusken Raiders, who had a proud history of pillaging, warfare and tribal politics. Kalani understood this, so when he arrived to see the Jundland General with his entourage of Tusken warriors, his alarms immediately went off. His own defensive escort team of four Magna Guards kept close behind him. When he approached the large Tusken, Kalani understood what he was saying. Kalani was fluent in tens of thousands of alien languages, including Tusken. Kalani waved off the protocol droid when it tried to translate the General.

"You do not need to translate to me," Kalani stated dismissively to the protocol droid. He then turned to the Jundland General. "A shipment from the Confederacy of Independent Systems has arrived to bolster your own security forces on Tatooine, General Jundland," Kalani spoke in his robotic voice. "Further, the second part of my mission on your planet is to re-affirm good-will between the Separatist Council and yourself."
As he said that, a detail of Vulture droids and Hyena bombers flew ahead.

Martius Shan, Maverick, and Nalora
Kashyyyk System
The Victory

Once they'd reached their destination, the Victory dropped out of hyperspace into the Kashyyyk System alongside two other Venator-class Star Destroyers, two Dreadnought-class Cruisers, two Arquitens-class Cruisers, three CR70, and three CR90 Corvettes. Once in the System, the clones on the Bridge moved rapidly about their business and immediately began a scan of the surrounding area. Once the scan was complete, a clone reported: "Admiral, we're detecting three Munificents, one Providence, and a Lucrehulk on the opposite edge of the system; reading shields up and weapons hot on all ships."

"Understood" Nalora replied, while examining a holomap of the Kashyyyk System, before pressing a button on a comm panel and ordering: "All ships, begin launching fighters."

Martius watched the holomap as it was updated with the location of the enemy formation and stroked his beard as he assessed the situation. Pointing to the enemy Lucrehulk, he stated: "Well, good news is it looks like we still have the numerical advantage even with our ships in drydock; bad news is that Lucrehulk could give them an advantage in starfighter numbers if we can't stop them from deploying their full complement."

"Indeed" Nalora stated "Which means time is of the essence. I recommend pushing forward to meet the enemy immediately; further, I suggest we split our Cruisers, four Corvettes, and a starfighter detachment off from the main force to utilize as a rapid flanking force."

"Agreed" Martius replied "Nalora, if you can handle things here, I'll lead the flanking force from my fighter." When Nalora nodded, Martius moved to the comm panel, pressed the button and stated: "This is General Shan to Commander Whitpeg, I'm placing you in command of our main starfighter group; rendezvous with the fighters and Admiral Nalora will contact you with further orders. Shan out."

Turning to his XO, Martius then stated: "Maverick, you're with me" and the two made their way to their fighters in the main hanger bay...

Kashyyk - The CSS Shili

"Sir, a Republic fleet has dropped out of hyperspace. Composition is-"

Targo cut off the droning of his tactical droid.

"I can see that. Launch fighters and bombers."

The battle droid at the communications console clicked a few buttons.

"Roger Roger."

Vulture droids and Hyena bombers began to pour out of the Lucrehulk and the Shili, the Munificents maintaining their position ahead of the two larger ships. Targo knew that the enemy had the advantage in anti-fighter coverage due to the corvettes they had brought along. However, Targo had sheer numbers on his side.

T-44 started talking again as the Republic ships began launching fighters.

"Sir, the enemy is splitting their forces. Four corvettes and two cruisers moving to flank us. I predict a 99.5% chance of an enemy flanking maneuver."

Targo turned to the tactical droid, which was presently standing to his right and observing the enemy ships through the bridge windows.

"Dispatch all three of our Munificents to deal with them. Tell them to target the corvettes first, one at a time. Have two thirds of our starfighters and bombers go for the Venators, and the other third go after the enemy dreadnought cruisers. I want our Munificents and the small craft accompanying them to attack at the same time."

"Understood."

The tactical droid once again began clicking on its command console as vulture droids and droid bombers whizzed by Targo's bridge. He was now considering his moves as the Munificent cruisers in front of him moved off to the side to intercept the enemy with their swarm of fighters, leaving just empty space and panels of transparisteel between the Republic commander and Targo.

T-44 once again interrupted Targo's thoughts.

"Sir, we have detected a Delta-7 Aethersprite interceptor among the enemy fighter formation. There is a 99.67% chance it is a Jedi starfighter."

Targo's montrals unconsciously twitched. If there was one thing he truly feared, it was the Jedi.

"T, make sure there are at least, uh, twenty vulture droids on the Jedi at all times. Tag them as a maximum priority target for the Munificent's point defense."

T-44 once again returned to his console, and Targo sat forward in his chair as he pulled up a holomap on one of his armrest holoprojectors.
“It is difficult for me to imagine what “personal liberty” is enjoyed by an unemployed hungry person. True freedom can only be where there is no exploitation and oppression of one person by another; where there is not unemployment, and where a person is not living in fear of losing his job, his home and his bread. Only in such a society personal and any other freedom can exist for real and not on paper.” -J. V. STALIN
