Constantin Parhon went on a vacation in the Transylvanian Mountains with a goal of hunting boar, and fishing some sturgeon. He went with some friends and decided to forgo using his security team as he has not seen any sort of security threats. He did decide to use local Patriotic Guards. Unbeknownst to Parhon, Patriotic guards from Transylvania were de-socialised due to the presence of IN. Parhon went on with the trip anyways and arrived at the hunting cottage in Mureș County. Mures County also unbeknownst to Parhon, Mureș County is one of the most concentrated hubs of IN. Parhon went into the city of Târgu Mureș and ate lunch while talking to the local communist board which runs the city, and then talked to the board that runs the county over a fine dinner.

Arnăuțoiu learned about Parhon's arrival into Târgu Mureș, and formed a plan. He would send some people to search his lodge while he was out hunting and take pictures of any important documents. He has contacted Pucheanu through a direct communication line and asked about his opinion. Pucheanu replied that it would be nice to have a little hunting "accident." Arnăuțoiu sent out some people to enter the forest through the night and cut away and steal the boars food supply to starve them in anticipation that they will more aggressive and will be more dangerous.

Parhon went to sleep and work up heading out hunting. He waited a good couple hours, then saw his first boar. He aimed his gun and took a shot, hitting the boar in the stomach causing it pain. Parhon loaded another round, but his gun jammed up. The boar turned to see what hit it and saw Parhon. Now enraged and in extreme pain, the boar charged Parhon, and managed to knock him down. Parhon got freaked and struggled to find his sidearm or his knife and was mauled in the side by the boars tusks. Parhon now bleeding badly. Yelled for help and a couple friends ran over and shot the boar dead. Parhon soon blacked out at the blood loss and had a message immediately sent to Chervenkov.

In Sofia, Chervenkov received word about the news of the Romania-Bulgaria-Yugoslavia railway system. The representative told Chervenkov that the railway would be finished in about a couple weeks. Chervenkov then decided to allow the rep to handle finishing it off. Chervenkov then began to build up the ports of Varna and Burgas in anticipation of a buildup of the Naval force. In Burgas, Lake Burgas was opened up into the Black sea via opening up a line south then east to avoid displacing people. Also in Bulgaria, IN had passively taken Northern Bulgaria from Vidin to Varna. They plan on heading south to Burgas, then loop back west towards Yugoslavia zig-zaging to the major towns and cities. Chervenkov was interrupted by a messenger with a letter to be read immediately.

The letter wrote,
"Dear friend,
I have been incapacitated in a hunting accident and may not be able to continue my position as Chairman of the SBS of Romania, therefore upon my death I will be dissolving the Romanian Communist Party and placing you as Chairman of the United Balkan State. I expect you to merge all departments to unify the nation. Keep the assembly in Bucharest, while having your own rule in Sofia to keep the Bulgarians and Romanians united. You know what to do.

Chervenkov sat down, and began to implement the plan of action to ensure that the nation does not fracture. However some more radical and nationalist members of the Romanian Communist Party had their own thoughts about what really happened to Parhon considering he travelled with all Bulgarians. At the Party leadership level, the fate of the nation may be darker than thought.

The General Secretary of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin, sat in his office, smoking a cigar. The climate of the world had been shifting quite drastically recently. Spain had been boisterous as usual, but the most interesting was the sudden revolution in Persia. The revolution spread to the country, resulting in the creation of the Islamic People's Republic of Persia. This was huge, as now the USSR had major stakes in the middle east, along with Persian oil. The situation in Sweden didn't seem to improve much, but intervention was still out of the question. Stalin remained lost in his thoughts until he received a knock on his door. When he opened it, he saw it was his defense minister, Aleksandr Vasilevsky, who appeared somewhat shocked. The General Secretary was surprised to see Vasilevsky, especially in this curious state, so he invited him in.

Stalin sat down and looked at Vasilevsky. "What's the matter, Minister?"

Vasilevsky focused his eyes to the floor, avoiding Stalin's gaze. "General Secretary...there have been reports of...revolt in the Balkan Republics. The NKVD reports insurrection, along with various levels of instability in the USBR's government."

Stalin remained silent for a few excruciating moments before responding. "Are the uprisings a major threat?"

"I'm not sure, General Secretary. There have been skirmishes in country, but the main issue is the lack of a response from the USBR themselves."

"In that case, send a letter to them to get a better gauge of what's going on. Get reports from the NKVD and our troops stationed there as well. Any insurrection against the great socialist revolution will be put down."

"Yes sir," Vasilevsky said quickly. He left the room as fast as possible and entered his own chambers, where he began issuing Stalin's orders. The Foreign Minister and Deputy Foreign Minister were abroad, and the issue in the Balkans required a rather strong response.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the USSR, Andrey Vyshinsky, arrived in New York City to represent the Soviet Union at the upcoming Security Council assembly. The Suez and Gibraltar crises have brought the world close to war yet again, only five years after the last one ended. The new "Cold War" atmosphere described by Winston Churchill in his Iron Curtain speech was a valid indicator of what was transpiring in humanity in the post world war era. Now, it wasn't the world against the Nazis. It was the Socialist world vs the Capitalist one. The tensions between the former allies had been best showcased just months ago, as the Berlin Blockade served to show how far apart the ideologies were. War, which had been barely adverted three times in the past 6 months, seemed to be hovering over the horizon. And one of the most important developments was the Soviet testing of the atomic bomb, which occurred just a month a half ago. The west still had yet to issue a response, but that could very well mean they planned on bringing up the topic in New York.

Vyshinsky entered the United Nations headquarters to begin the assembly of the world's greatest powers

Warsaw, Polish People's Republic

Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov was inside the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, as he oversaw the preparations for the Warsaw Conference, which was to be held only 11 days from now. It was to commemorate the October Revolution, and to create a mutual defense treaty between the socialist nations to protect against NATO and internal rebellions. The Conference would also allow the Soviet Union to be more present in the affairs of its puppet states and allies, which was going to be huge as Stalin wanted to keep the Eastern Bloc as a set of buffer states so the USSR would never again fight a war on its homeland.

While the reconstruction of the city was still underway, Molotov received several letters from world leaders that required his attention. He sighed, called for a secretary, and dictated his responses.

As you have observed we have had some skirmishes, however, were are not entirely sure if it is just the local socialist/communist parties unhappy about how their locales are run or anti-communists. As for the incapacitated Chairman Parhon, he unfortunately has fallen to his injuries and I have been tasked with unifying our parties and the nation as a whole. I have decided to ditch both Romania and Bulgaria and call the nation the People's Republic of Dobruja after a historical region in both nations. The PRD will accept any help in achieving a peaceful full assimilation of the two entities. I have received word that our million strong patriotic guard has abandoned socialism and I will, as my first act as Chairman of the PRD, put down these treasonous vermin. I will be relying on my military for this but may need your advice on how to take out a larger force that uses asymmetrical and guerilla warfare tactics. I have learned that the majority of my nation has been claimed by the now former PG as they had been stationed all across the nation.

Chairman Valko Chervenkov

The newly created Dobruja has been born in a time of turmoil as the untimely death of Parhon has sent the nation into a potential civil war among Bulgarians and Romanians. Chervenkov has stepped up and became a strong force to hold the two together by populating his entire new cabinet with Romanians. He has deployed the 150,000 strong military against the 1.5 Million strong Patriotic Guard and any other anti-communist forces. Romanian communists still wish to see Bulgaria punished and kicked out of the union, then punished by the USSR for treason. Chervenkov also requests a neutral party such as Switzerland to conduct an investigation into who or what caused Parhon's death.

Kan Seung Ri and his private secretary touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport for the United Nations meeting. The wind and breeze were calm as he stepped off the C-47 which he flew in. The short-range of the aircraft meant many stops had been taken before finally arriving. Furthermore, Seung Ri was glad to be off the aircraft as the small airframe made passengers within it sick to the core. Not to mention the aircraft within was not pressurised. International trips were always a nightmare but at least he had finally arrived and it would be worth it. New York, the world most cosmopolitan city. Sprawling landscape or concrete jungle and skyscrapers high into the sky. It was a far cry from the muddy streets and old Oriental buildings in Seoul.

Most importantly, Kan Seung Ri was excited to mee counterparts from the Republic of China, Republic of Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia for more discussion on closer cooperation. He hoped it would be the highlight and sought the UN meeting as an opportunity to do just that. Finally meeting Zhang Lan in person. Perhaps even Lee Kuan Yew. Not even the veteran at poker faces Kan Seung Ri could hide his excitement. For now, he would take in the sights New York had to offer.

With the economy liberalizing and the rapid pace Industrialization, Prime Minister Lee found himself in another problem.

Operation Coldstore while was overall a success, helping him push through his plans for union consolidation, have highlighted key problems in the police.
Lack of equipment and personnel was by far the biggest problem. The police lacked vehicles to move from one location to the next quickly. A handful of trucks Japanese and British trucks left over after the war were all they had, spread out across the vast Malaysian territory. There was also the problem with the police, the lack of weapons. Each officer was expected to carry a baton for non-lethal take downs and a revolver just in case. But that was not the case most of the time.

Lack of funding meant only 1 in 5 officers were issued a gun. This problem was compounded during the operation when several officers were killed or injured in action when facing suspects armed with machine guns left over from the Malayan Emergency.

The lack of personnel also meant police were unable to properly handle crime. The rapid urbanization was contributing to the crime rates in the cities, and this was not mentioning the rural areas which were virtually free for alls. Several prominent communist agitators and leaders had escaped into the jungles thanks to these problems.

$50 million Dollars, meant for the State owned Oil and Gas company Petronas to further develop the Brunei oilfields and off shore drilling had to be diverted to invest in police equipment and boost recruitment. Leaving only a paltry sum of 20 million for Petronas to work with.

This also affected Malaysia's efforts in strengthening it's military as 10 million dollars allocated for next quarter in procuring M24 light tanks from the US was cut from 350 tanks to 150. The funds diverted to Petronas. The funding of 20 million promised for next year for the development of a local arms industry and National RnD Defense laboratory was put on hold indefinitely in order to fund further infrastructure improvements in order to facilitate transport between cities and the rural areas.

Lee Kuan Yew and his small private entourage stepped off the DC-4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport for the United Nations meeting. The aircraft belonged to Malaysia's fledgling national airline, Singapore Airlines. Temporary requisitioned for this trip, it was one of twelve aircraft newly acquired from the Douglas Aircraft Company.

Despite the improvements made to the aircraft, long distance international travel was still a nightmare to the occupants, having to make a number of stopover trips. Prime Minister Lee would prefer to go by boat but that would take several weeks instead of a few hours, highlighting the importance of why setting up a national airline for Malaysia was the right thing to do.

Despite the exhausting trip, Lee Kuan Yew remained hopeful. After all, he did come to New York just to attend the UN meeting, he was here to make connections. Establishing formal relationships with China and Korea would boost regional defense against the communist and improve trade, which in turn improve the nation's economy, especially since his sits on the straits of Malacca itself.
He was specially excited to meet the leaders themselves, so far, their goals for the region seems to be aligned

He also hopes to establish relationship with Indonesia, whom although did not see eye to eye especially since, Brunei and Sarawak voted to join Malaysia instead of Indonesia. Where their closest and one of their biggest trading partner.

He was also hoping to meet the representatives of the two superpowers, the UK and the United States, in order to lobby for assistance in building up Malaysia, be it financial, military or technical aid, in order to keep the communist elements out and fulfill his dream of turning Malaysia into a developed nation like the United States.

France was also a prospective partner as the recent election saw the communist leaders dethroned replaced with a much more western leading government. But Prime Minister Lee remained slightly apprehensive as the prospect of a communist take could mean the destruction of any Malaysia- French relationship.

Prime Minister Lee's Son and Minister for Trade and security, whom had followed along on the trip was tasked with finding a way during the trip to get into contact with a representative of The Imperial Democratic Republic of Japan to offer recognition and assistance in retaking the home islands in exchange for agreeing to a free trade agreement with Malaysia

It was early morning in the United States of America, when Sir Alexander George Cadogan, the British representative to the UN, arrived in New York. The British Government were the government which summoned the UN Security Council, 6 days before negotiations begin between Egypt and the United Kingdom over the Suez Canal. As the British Empire needs the Suez Canal to connect its empire together, along with Alexandria to maintain eastern Mediterranean dominance, they have a plan to force Egypt to allow British sovereignty to remain over the Suez Canal. The only snag would be the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, but he had a idea for that as well. He gets in a car and heads for the UN building.

At 8:00 am NYC time, the plane from Las Palmas carrying the UN representatives of the Kingdom of Spain touched down. The Kingdom lived in fear that this may be the last time that they were a sovereign, recognised nation coming here. The US Veto was all that could save them. They were at the mercy of this place, and that was something they very much acknowledged. They would also discuss dealings with the west in order to strengthen themselves against a possible attack from the Socialist mainland. The ambassador was driven to the UN Headquarters via private motorcade.

Zhang Lan the Prime Minister of China arrived quietly in the United States as was his request. His doctor had recommended he not fly given his worsening medical condition but he couldn't defer this chance to represent China on an global stage equal to the United States and the Soviet Union.

He would arrive at the UN from a back entrance and immediately check in with his personal doctor in a back room. After clearing his health he began to mingle with other representatives awaiting the proceedings to begin.

Due to our own internal conflicts, we the People's Republic of Dobruja will not be able to attend the UN summit. We wish the best of luck to it and hope it goes smoothly.

Chervenkov's forces had taken only Cluj-Napoca, when the entire army was surrounded as the army is only 100,000 strong with WWII equipment. Meaning there is a 15 to 1 imbalance of power. Arnăuțoiu's Patriotic Guard had performed dozens of guerilla style attacks and had disabled many of the armed forces vehicles and managed to steal a good couple tanks and at least 20 AFV. The sailors now, have been recalled into fighting on the ground and have been sent in to flank the PGs. As for the airforce, due to the fighting taking place in either denser urban areas or in the deep woods, have not been able to perform close air support or resupply the troops. The PG having learned from Hitler and his attempt at Russia wait for the bad weather and strike then. While the fighting took place, Romanian Communists formed a very loose alliance with the Romanian based IN and began their own civil war with the Bulgarian Communist party over their failure to prevent Parhon from dying and for creating a plot to kill him with a hunting "accident." The military upon hearing of the split fell apart due to the heavy Romanian slant of the forces, and the Romanians sent some of their troops to bomb Sofia. With Sofia bombed out, Chervenkov knew he had no choice but to surrender to the recreated People's Party of Romania, a communist nationalist movement to restore the lands of the Greater Kingdom of Romania, while staying communist in policy and practice.

During the now nationwide civil war between the two communist parties, the PG had entered Bucharest and seized it as they only had one goal while the other two had to contend with their rival communist party and the anti com forces. In order to appease the USSR a bit, Arnăuțoiu had released Moldova and Bessarabia as a new nation called the People's Republic of Moldavia. The new PRM was offered to the USSR in exchange for allowing the new Republic of Romania to exist freely and independently.

For the Polish Conference being held in Warsaw - the General Secretary of Japan itself had decided to journey to the continent of Europe. Granted, for most of her life, the only life that she knew was the small town of Mitaka close to Tokyo. Now she was here as the leader of a nation, among other nations. Needless to say, the destruction of Warsaw reminded her a bit of Tokyo - after the Emperor and his cronies were so sure that they could defeat the Americans. Only to end being shown the price of pride, while the rest of the country had to endure years of humiliation. Granted, it taught them. They weren't any better...or worse, than those around them. When you kept poking, eventually you would hit something that your bravado and pride couldn't beat - she just wished the bombs had come sooner. Rin had lost a few friends herself to the Imperial Army - boys and men sent on a fool's quest. Or rather, just rounded up by the Imperials and executed on grounds of 'dishonor, treason, disloyalty' and other such crimes.

In a way, Rin and had wanted to meet Molotov before the talks began in-person. In a way, she wanted to ensure and talk over the few details that would come from this 'Warsaw Conference'. She didn't have any desire on making Japan into another China, having their policies dictated by another foreign power as had been with the fall of the Qing Dynasty in China. Though, this war had demonstrated that they couldn't do without allies...or resources, both of which the USSR had plenty to spare.

Thus, the General Secretary of Japan soon made an appointment with Minister Molotov' secretary, indicating that the leader of Japan would like an audience with him.

In the United Nations, everyone had sent their representatives to this gathering of nations - even Japan. Or rather the People' Republic of Japan, the sole representative of the people, not the yoke that the Americans were trying to prop up as the 'legitimate' successor. Still, the representative of Japan still got a few looks here and there. From being one enemy in another, to becoming another enemy in the war of ideologies.

Ambassador Osaba was a rather frail looking man, yet the weak stature hid a cunning and shrewd mind. As such, he was happy in a way to see another representative of their 'Pact' enter the Assembly. "Hello, Comrade. Happy to see you here, Ambassador Osaba," he spoke, speaking in a rather accented yet understandable Russian.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Naseem Pasha had landed after an arduous flight from Cairo in the early hours of the morning. This would perhaps be the most critical moment for Egypt, and thankfully, they still had their seat on the UN Security Council. Egypt's goal was simple: attain its rightful ownership of the Suez Canal and ensure that Britain pulled its soldiers out of Egypt for good, in accordance with the wishes of the Egyptian government back in 1946. Whether they would attain this through lobbying the West or the Soviets was still up for debate, though King Farouk was quite nervous about dealing with the latter. But Abdullah was much too tired to think too hard about that. He would spend the morning at the Egyptian Consulate, drinking coffee and speaking with the Egyptian Ambassador to the United Nations before making his way to the United Nations building.

Luis Padilla Nervo, the Mexican Permanent Ambassador to the UN, was nervous. This was one of the first crises this young United Nations had faced, and it was an issue most in his government had no idea about. As such, he had just been advised to advocate for a peaceful solution. How he was to accomplish this, though, was left up to him. Great, he thought to himself. What if this just turns into another League of Nations and it's all a huge disaster? What if this is a sparking point for another massive conflict in this war-weary world? I suppose it all hinges on this first test. A swift glance at his watch ended his train of worrying thoughts right in their tracks. It was time to make his way down from his office to the General Assembly. Mexico had lost its seat on the Security Council about two years before, so Ambassador Padilla Nervo wasn't sure how his country could even input anything of value. With that, and a reluctant sigh of finality as punctuation, Luis rose from his seat in his office and trudged towards the elevators. He knew he should be carrying himself with more pride; Mexico was carrying itself on the world stage, with equal weight to countries like China and Belgium and even the United States. The weight of the scenario was too much on his back for him to stand up straight with dignity, though It felt like a zero-sum game. Either Mexico spoke out, risking the anger of a Great Power and even disbarring from the world stage, or they remained silent and looked like fools for not acting in this brand-new body. He decided to survey the situation first, then deal with what came next. A wise, moderate path. Luis Padilla Nervo carried himself more like a diplomat now, standing upright and holding his briefcase to the side, making sure his tie and lapel pin were all situated as the elevator carried him to where the General Assembly was to meet.

Arnăuțoiu has met with Chervenkov regarding the three way civil war. The two have reached an agreement despite the political differences.

Bulgaria will be split from the People's Republic of Dobruja, and become its own independent nation.
Arnăuțoiu will rule the remaining part of Romania as the Republic of Romania, and the capital will remain Bucharest.
All prisoners of war will be returned to each others nation.
Each nation will sign an internationally binding document banning each other from declaring war on each other.
Bulgaria will become a republic.
Both nations will join NATO.

"What the hell is going out there?!" Joseph Stalin was incensed after hearing the news from the former Balkan union. Not only was the government unable to put down the rebellion, they also split the country back into its original states and announced intentions to join NATO. The General Secretary glared at his defense minister. "What are you waiting for? Mobilize dammit!"

Aleksandr Vasilevsky nodded his head quickly and called the various military leaders to discuss the plan. The USSR would now declare a state of emergency, and invade the territories of Bulgaria and Romania, reinforcing communist rule and replacing the civilian leaders with a permanent military administration. With just days to go before the Warsaw Conference, this was going to be a bad look, but the USSR was good at hiding the truth. Propaganda would be shown all across the union as Soviet troops entered the Balkans to "protect against western interference in the motherland".

Troubling events in the Union of Balkan Socialist Republics has forced the USSR to act in order to protect the newly formed countries. A State of Emergency is now declared within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and the General Secretary himself has decreed that any action detrimental to the security of the Eastern Bloc will warrant a direct response from the USSR.

Effective immediately, the Central Group of Forces is now mobilized, and will be sent to the former Balkan Union to restore order. All Red Army troops currently stationed in the Balkans will be mobilized as well.

The deputy foreign minister, Andrey Vyshinsky sat down at his table at the UN. The meeting would commence anytime now, and the main issue to be discussed was the Suez Crisis. This was the primary reason both the USSR and UK had called for the gathering of the Security Council. Any resolutions passed, or those that were vetoed, would now serve as an indication of how the UN would operate in the future.

Vyshinsky saw the other world leaders slowly trickling into the building, and also saw Ambassador Osaba of Japan."Greetings, friend! It appears the assembly will officially convene any moment now. Today, October 14, 1949, will now be the time we finally resolve this crisis, and hopefully prevent further ones from developing.."

Warsaw, Polish People's Republic

Molotov had a lot on his mind. He had recently received a call from the Minister of Defense that there was an insurrection in the former Balkan Union. Molotov was against the formation of the country, as he knew there was going to be problems going ahead. Now, only a few years after the end of the Second World War, the Red Army would yet again be tested. This time, however, there would be no struggle. The General Secretary would send in the troops. No mercy would be afforded to the traitors, and for all of this to happen only a week and a half before the Warsaw Conference? That was a PR nightmare. Despite the USSR's best attempts to silence the media and prevent emigration, news would eventually get out of what would transpire in the following days.

As the Foreign Minister sat in the Polish Presidential Palace, he saw a letter, a request from a Japanese General Secretary to meet. "She's here already?" Molotov said to himself as he stood up. Japan was a major ally for the Soviets, and a meeting today would be one of many as the two countries would undoubtedly face more issues ahead. Molotov towards General Secretary Rin and offered to shake her hand. "It's about time we meet, comrade."

Sierra Maestra

Hidden in the privacy of the thick, dense forestry, the revolutionaries sat. The roar of several truck engines echoed from the end of the dirt road; an initial sign of success for the 26 of July Movement. Their informants had leaked the details of a supply convoy to Moncada Barracks, a military outpost of the autocrat Fulgencio Batista. Little did the pro-government forces know, an ambush was to occur. As the trucks drew closer to the ambush location, the partisans moved into position. Fidel reached for his rifle and waved to his comrades to be alert and ready. The supply detail was compromised of four trucks, of American design. At the head on the convoy, the revolutionaries could make out the silhouette of two men in the front cab. All of a sudden, they opened fire. Crack, crack, crack. It didn't seem to end. Revolutionaries positioned on elevated ground were targeting the wheels of the front truck, to cause it to stop - thus bringing the supply convoy to a dead halt.

They had successfully pierced the tires of the truck and the air deflated like a balloon. It came to a sudden stop and the other three vehicles were stuck behind it, like sitting ducks. All of a sudden, the men of the 26 of July Movement burst from the bushes on the side of the road at fired upon the unsuspecting drivers and their passengers. Similarly armed with weapons themselves, a sporadic firefight broke out. However, the revolutionaries had the aspect of surprise and were able to overwhelm the soldiers of the military. Scrambling to fend off the attack, they used the cover of the trucks to fire back, but many were killed in the initial spray. Fidel loaded his rifle and took pot-shots at the scrambling soldiers as they try to climb out of the trucks and away. Those less sure of their ability surrendered immediately, understanding the dynamics of the situation they were facing. These people were rounded-up and disarmed by more revolutionaries who came scrambling out of the dense forestry.

Fidel Castro and his brother went down to inspect the contents of these trucks. And as suspected, they were full of vital equipment and resources. Ammunition, small arms, non-perishing food. It was all stolen from the backs of the trucks. The revolutionaries had no need of the trucks. It was too dangerous, even impossible to haul them up the Sierra Maestra. Fidel had the supplements of all the trucks stripped out and brought back to the camp, that camp which featured in a recent and popular U.S. documentary. The dead bodies were lifted into the cargo compartments of the trucks and set a light. This would burn the convoy down and create an immovable road block until the regime sent in bulldozers. Those that surrendered were taken as prisoners of war. The 26 of July Movement made quick work of the convoy, but were also quick to get out of there.

Within minutes, they had gone, in case of swift government retribution. It was this kind of guerrilla warfare that Fidel, Ernesto and Raul were becoming known for. It was something they weren't planning on stopping anytime soon. But, the Movement realized they needed powerful backing if the Batista regime was to be overthrown. It was becoming common place for many liberation struggles receiving support from the Soviet Union and the boundless other allies that existed in Europe and beyond. Through the Soviet Embassy in Mexico, Fidel's allies sent an important and encrypted message to the Foreign Ministry of the USSR:

As leader of the 26 of July Movement in Cuba, I would like to make official contact with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in hope of reaching a mutual friendship. Our goals are to overthrow the U.S. backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and replace it with a new, socialist society. We would strongly appreciate diplomatic and material aid in our struggle against imperialism and capitalism. If needed, we can send an envoy to Moscow, his name his Ernesto Guevara. He has my support to broker an arrangement between the USSR and our Cuban revolutionaries, should the Foreign Ministry be willing to accept.

Ambassador Aco walks off the plane. New York City. What a beautiful, yet unharmed city. It was unharmed due to the fact that the U.S was a major player in the Second World War, but yet... something of the city seemed to remind it of Belgrade. Whether it be the street lights or the magnificent scenery. He notices the time, and hurries towards the UN.

When he enters, he takes a seat at his designated seat. He notices the ambassadors from Japan and the USSR. He nods towards them.

"Men, today is the day we begin the official start of the Yugoslav navy. Today, is the day we become the controller of the seas. Today, is the day we commission the Revision, a Yugoslav battleship!" Admiral Jovanovic states, as his future crew cheers.

Pucheanu, upon hearing the news of his wanted status fled south into the Greek state, but not before asking Arnăuțoiu to accompany him as he too was wanted. Arnăuțoiu, decided that the Soviets were the worse of two evils and met up Pucheanu. Arnăuțoiu and Pucheanu both talked while they fled and Arnăuțoiu said, "Why stay socialist if Stalin has given up on you and now wants you dead?"
Both men found their way to Thessaloniki and took the next boat to Cyprus where they would ask the British for asylum. They arrived in Cyprus at Pafos, and went on to the capital in which they requested a member of the British government to ask for political asylum. Both had a box containing the crown jewels of each nation for safe keeping.

Chervenkov found out too late about the Romanians escape and ordered them banned from the USBR.

After the leaders escape, the nation fell into chaos and got even worse when the Soviets rolled in. As for the fate of the nation, it seems like whatever Stalin would want, he would get. Any IN members know that they will either be killed or disappeared. Some of the smarter ones decided to flee the nation.

The two got on that boat and Arnăuțoiu and Chervenkov both headed for London to live as civilians. The two made a pact to not enter politics again until the fall of the USSR. Arnăuțoiu told the representative, that they simply seek asylum, not assistance in a govt-in-exile. He also asked to have the Romanian and Bulgarian crown jewels be held for safe keeping.

Warsaw, Polish People's Republic

The one thing she liked about Soviet architecture was the practicality. Just from a glance alone, one could see that this structure could last for years after everything was over. While the local design would be added here and there - mixed with Soviet Ideology, it made for a rather interesting style. One practical yet...simple and beautiful.

Although her thoughts were soon drawn away by Minister Molotov soon welcoming her in - the woman in question, happily shaking hands with the foreign representative of the Soviet Union. "Indeed. Happy to meet you," she said. Being the leader of a nation was burden enough, yet she was one of the few people whom was also a woman as well. Granted, that didn't make her any lesser dangerous or unqualified - as the few Soviet 'advisors' in Japan would have known during the short Japanese Civil War - that one didn't earn the nickname of Lady Ice-Wind by sitting back and doing nothing. As the woman in question had killed two Imperial soldiers with a looted katana and then shot the surviving Commander in the Imperial Palace dead herself. After having taken a shot in the gut yet managed to survive even that.

Granted, her old war attire had been left back in Japan - for this occasion, she resembled the more traditional style employed in the People' Republic. Meaning a brown uniform, shoes and her hair combed to a calm perfection - as she resembled a regular secretary working in the Kremlin than the leader of the second biggest Communist State in the world.

"Thank you for meeting on such a short notice. However, with the rising tensions and slow withdrawal of Soviet troops to other theaters in the world. We wanted to talk over the details of what is there to be expected or achieved in this Warsaw Conference?" she asked - getting right to the point of the matter.

"Knowing the Americans, they will be arming anyone willing to shoot their fellow brethren in the back," replied Osaba - as the Americans didn't make any excuse on their opinion of Communism. Ironic, considering that they had the gall - not officially though - to call the Communists as the Dictators and Tyrants.

"How are we doing? Asia has calmed, yet Europe is seeming to be ready to explode at any moment yet again..." he added.

Nationalisation of the Natural Resources

Under the edict of the new Supreme leader of Persia and with the support of the National Council, the government of Persia started nationalisation process of the oil companies and other natural resource companies on the territory of Persia. The move comes after the peaceful resignation of the pro-NATO monarch who currently lives in the north of the country. The hardworkers of Persia welcomed the move by the wise supreme leader. The government spokesman Zarosht Isfahani said that the move to nationalise the natural resources will be good for the people as a whole and the end of oppression and oligarchy are numbered. However, the Persian State still welcomes other businesses from around the world to invest and open its offices on the Persian territory.

Persia Attends the Warsaw Pact Conference

The Persian delegation has arrived yesterday in the capital city of Warsaw. Headed by the Prime Minister Daniyor Nadav, the Persian delegation hopes that the Warsaw conference will bring the countries together for one common goal of improving our economies and putting an end to oppression. Today, they were seen entering the conference hall and preparing for the meeting

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felipe Chavez arrives in New York on a DC-4 to represent his nation at the UN for this important meeting. He steps into a limo and is driven to the UN Building in Lower Manhattan where meets the Venezuelan Ambassador to the UN Ernesto Santos. They walk into the building arriving at the Security Council room a minute later. They find their seats which happens to be next to the Ambassador from Yugoslavia and the General Secretary of of Japan. Ambassador Santos leans over and speaks with the Japanese leader and the Yugoslavian UN Ambassador, "Greetings, I am Ambassador Ernesto Santos and this is Venezuela's Foreign Minister Felipe Chavez."

Just outside of the Ou Raadsaal, D. F. Malan and William H. Andrews, both members of the Confederate Council, had a discussion over the possible path for South African foreign policy.

"The Soviets will never support the cause of a free and white South Africa. I have every reason to believe that the Soviet government is in league with De Kleir," Malan noted.

The old communist, of Rand Revolt fame, was in poor health despite having just seen his revolution succeed. It was as if he had achieved his life purpose and was ready to leave the world at any moment. The trade unionist looked outwards, remembering how the South African Communist Party splat in two over the 'Native Republic' policy. "I do not doubt that there is communication between the two, but maybe we're at fault for not showing our motivations to the world. To the rest of the world, we're some sort of abomination, neither fitting into the American capitalist bloc or the Soviet communist bloc neatly. A white syndicalist state in Africa."

The balding Afrikaner nationalist was surprised by how blunt Andrews was, "I still do not trust the Soviets. Though, I guess it wouldn't hurt to get their support. Sometimes, I wish the Germans had won the Second World War. Then, we'd at least have a guaranteed ally."

Andrews raised an eyebrow, "You do realize that one of my closest comrades is a Jew, right?"

Malan laughed a little, "Of course, I do." He gave Andrews a reassuring smile, "We Afrikaners aren't so different from the Jews of the Old Testament. We're a chosen people of God, fighting against enslavement by foreign powers. We migrated in the face of oppression."

"Well, I doubt that the Nazis would've protected us aside for realpolitik reasons. Anyways, we should-" Andrews said before suddenly having an outburst of coughing. "Oh god, ack!"

"You're okay, William?!" Malan asked as he rushed to support Andrews.

"Y-Yes. Yes, I am. I need some water," the elderly socialist asked, "Then, we can talk to the Soviets."

After Andrews had his glass of water, the two enter into a room in the newly renovated Ou Raadsel. The two then sent a telegram to the USSR.

Malan then looked at Andrews sternly, "Next is talking to the Commandant-General about the situation in Southwest Africa."

William nodded before letting out another cough.

17th October 1949

Spain had completed a variety of military exercises during October. The purpose of the exercises was unbeknownst to the international community. Spain was preparing for an invasion. Spain was to attack the former Spanish Northern Morrocco, which was under the control of secessionist Africans. The exercises were preparing for that invasion and the invasion would occur shortly after.

The day the exercises ended on October 17th, was the day Caballero would give the official authorisation for the invasion to the Defence Ministry headed by Juan Hernández Saravia, which had already presented the plans to him on September 5th, but they were postponed following the French Election Crisis and the subsequent Gibraltar Incident. However, Spain was now back on track and the invasion now could go ahead. Caballero sealed the letter and it was delivered to Saravia. The invasion, codenamed Operation Columba, would begin on October 19th.

Andrey Vyshinsky saw that many of the world's leaders have gathered in the United Nations building. With so many people pouring in, he began to lose count of just how many there were, but with so many seats filled, he saw it was time to move. They would first start with the Security Council debating on the Suez Crisis, and the General Assembly later on. He stood up, and as the leaders and representatives of the world settled, he spoke in a loud, clear voice. "Greetings everyone, and welcome to the 1949 gathering of the United Nations. With the meeting beginning now, I ask that we begin swiftly on today's most important agenda: The Suez Crisis. The standoff between Egypt and the United Kingdom has warranted a major uproar in the international community, and with a chance to finally resolve the issue, I say we begin debating on this."

Territories of Romania and Bulgaria

The General Secretary decreed that the former Union of Balkan Socialist Republics be dissolved as Soviet troops moved in to secure the region. The Central Group of Forces was mobilized, and with it, came the force of 36,000 Red Army soldiers; the same ones who fought in the brutal war against the Wehrmacht. Defense Minister Aleksandr Vasilevsky sat in his office in the Kremlin as he oversaw the invasion. These divisions were mobilized incredibly quickly, and word of the invasion would soon reach the rest of the Eastern Bloc. With this in mind, he ordered the NKVD to begin their own movements into the Balkans. As the soldiers put down the rebellions, the NKVD would go and control the media.

The three divisions who were sent were the 13th Poltava Guards Rifle Division, 19th Guards Mechanized Brigade, and the 40th Guards Rifle Division. The soldiers crossed the border from the USSR into Romania, and began their movements. The territory of the Moldavian SSR was transferred over to the USBR days ago, which gave the USSR the advantage. The Red Army still had posts in the region, and an invasion was now made easier. The troops crossed into Romania through the Siret river crossing in a fashion eerily similar to the Battle of Romania during World War Two.

The city of Iași was the first victim of the Red Army's advance. This was right near the border of Romania and the Moldavian SSR, but the speed of the divisions made the advance much easier. Red Army troops quickly entered Iași and established martial law. They had some soldiers quickly search and lockdown the city. Aleksandr Vasilevsky received radio reports of the operation. Good, he thought to himself. The early hours are successful. He pulled out a telephone and dialed the NKVD. "I want operatives all over Romania and Bulgaria. Make sure we find that traitor Chervenkov. The General Secretary wants his head to hang as an example. And have both the Red Army and the NKVD secure all media stations and shut down the borders."

Moscow dissolved the USBR, which was still under their occupation since the end of the Second World War. The disorganization allowed for Soviet interference to work much easier. Red Army divisions in nearby Hungary quickly went to the Hungarian-Romanian border. They acted as border guards to prevent any crossings from the revolutionaries. Now, all that was remaining was the capture of the Chairman, and the seizing of any newspapers. NKVD agents quickly went in to the USBR in order to find Chairman Chervenkov. Whether or not he still remained in the territory was still unknown. The first thing they did was search the capital city of Bucharest. If things went wrong, the USSR still had tens of thousands of soldiers in the region. The Central Group of Forces marched further as they secured Soviet domination of the region.

Warsaw, Polish People's Republic

The Japanese General Secretary was meeting with Foreign Minister Molotov to discuss the preparations for the Warsaw Conference. The questions she raised were definitely what he feared would be asked. Unlike the Eastern Bloc, Japan wasn't invaded by the Red Army. They were communist, but the grip Stalin had on them was far weaker than he would have liked. Molotov saw potential in a new, weaponized Japan aided by the Soviet Union. He took off his glasses and responded to her concerns. "Well, General Secretary, the reason the Red Army remains in Eastern Europe is to keep peace in the regions and to help the nations rebuild. It is no different than how the Americans and British still have their own soldiers in West Germany. And as for the purpose of the Conference?" He looked at Rin, and then pointed to the rubble that was still in the city. "General Secretary Stalin believes that a mutual defense treaty must be signed between socialist nations for protection against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. As you know, the world came close to a third world war just months ago."

Molotov didn't mention the fact that the Soviet Union successfully tested their own nuclear device. He was specifically told not to say anything about it. And even as they spoke, Red Army divisions marched into the Balkans once again. "The Soviet Union seeks to protect its allies. And along with that, we plan on further expanding on Comecon, our own version of the Marshall Plan."

The Foreign Minister also heard noise outside. It seemed that Persia had sent their own representative to the Conference. Molotov planned on meeting with them after his meeting with Rin.

Moscow Kremlin, Russian SFSR

Stalin eagerly awaited news of the invasion of the USBR. As the reports came back slowly, he found himself hearing the clock tick. Each second seemed like an hour. While Stalin already knew the outcome, he wanted to carry out another one of his signature purges. This time, it would begin with Chervenkov and decreased autonomy for Bulgaria and Romania

But that feeling was quickly gone when a secretary delivered a letter. Two in fact. One was from South Africa, while the other was from Cuba. With both his foreign ministers out, he had to respond himself. A deliberate ambiguity response to South Africa would be best, as they weren't an ally, but may prove useful later on.
