Considering I was stopped by campus security at my uni for wearing a blue bandana while working outside and again when at the gym, Yet my leather jacket, cowboy hat, skull mask, and battle jacket were all allowed. Yes. Many places ban wearing headbands, bandanas, and the like because of gangs. And a lot of these gangs take this shit seriously.
I mean, wouldn't more people wearing bandannas and ninja headbands help reclaim it from the gang association? The more people enforce rules like this, the more we pigeonhole bandannas and the like into the gang stereotype and the less likely we can do something about it. Policies like this only feed the problem and restrict freedom of expression.
