Oh here we fucking go
What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or if during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? The Organs would quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Erdogan is a dictator who needs to be removed ASAP. Just like Putin, Xi and Kim he needs to fuck off. Unlike Xi and Kim Erdogan is not Nuremberg Trials-worthy yet.

Amnesty International (the same Amnesty International that used blatantly false Turkish reports to falsely claim that the YPG were committing ethnic cleansing by removing civilians from booby-trapped villages that were recently liberated from ISIS) is currently on twitter both-sidesing a literal genocide in action.

Fuck them.

Some tried. Erdogan staffed his military with Loyalists.

Turkey's Putinist now but also genocidal.

Everything is a genocide these days, especially when I order pizza and it arrives cold.

Ergodan is not very nice, but his government is more democratic than the average US ally in the Middle East. He hasn't genocided any group, and has tolerated more Kurdish expression of identity than his predecessors in the period 1921-1999. He hasn't banned the language, as one obvious example.

Turkey could do far better, but politics is the art of the possible, and PKK terrorism is the wrong tool at the wrong time.

I'd like some evidence that Turkey is committing genocide against the Kurds in Rojava or is planning on it.

Apparently asking for both sides to mind civilian casualties is bad now. Kurds get a free pass on shelling school kids.

Asking both sides to mind civilian casualties when one side has objectively been fighting to save lives and the other is only fighting for conquest and slaughter is a load of callous bullshit.

You do release that AI asks the US military to be mindful of civilian casualties in Afghanistan, correct?

Right.

Like I said before, the Autonomous Kurdistan region in northern Iraq has a much better chance of archiving kurdish independence than Rojava.

The Turks are horrible and we have let them get away with garbage far before any of us on this website were alive. We have not done anything. The politicians who turn a blind eye to Turkey's crimes are to blame. If you blame one person, you blame everyone, including yourself. Almost everyone, essentially, who is older than my age-group would be responsible then for the death of the American Dream and would be a traitor, yourself included. What good does it do to point fingers and to call others traitors? How does it bring us together?

Which isn't any better, shockingly enough. Asking invading forces to mind the rule of law is a chickenshit response to war crimes in action.

That is incredibly short sighted. Thinking of my own country, do you think Turkey is going to last against an American-led coalition? They're really pushing our buttons, so it's very easy to see the possibility of Turkish troops engaging with Kurds and Americans, and no, Assad would not last either. The initial invasion of Iraq lasted 21 days. The invasion of the much more tough Afghanistan...2 months and 10 days. There is no government power in the Middle East that can stand against the might of the US.

TLDR: This is a very shortsighted decision by Erdogan.

is it?

Indubitably. Its model of semi-direct democracy is far better than anything Turkey practiced during its entire modern history. Not to mention their restorative model of criminal justice and unprecedented empowerment of women, along with their comparably freer press in the region.
