AWP RDF completes shut out of Hydra Command

In an action packed minor update today a small unit of RDF soldiers performed admirably. Starting the update with a joint operation alongside the TITO Expeditionary Force the RDF then participated in a further eight successful operations, shutting out Hydra Command entirely in the process.

In his first week back to activity Wopruthien was awarded a commendation for their valiant efforts including two solo stops, as well as receiving a promotion to Staff Sergeant having completed 20 operations in under a week. Joined by General Numero Capitan and an ally in Ravania, the three nations completely prevented Hydra Command from scoring a single hit, with Hydra Command soldiers eventually admitting defeat and reinforcing the occupation of Ireland. This comes within 24 hours of Hydra Command's invader allies trash talking Sergeant Major Rom, General Numero Capitan and Colonel Benevolent Thomas' Grey Warden organisation on the NationStates forums, with the Invaders tribute act describing defenders as 'ineffectual'.

Alongside these operations against Hydra Command, RDF members also participated in two liberations, including a successful liberation of the Shining Empire from Lone Wolves United.

AWP "Proudly Average" in Trivia Challenge

The nations of AWP woke on April 1st to find the new Trivia Challenge on their nation pages. As you will all now be aware, the Trivia Challenge was this year's April Fools twist and we were all delighted to come across the questions that leapfrogged AWP's most active gameplay years - ruining all our chances of high scores .

Not too downtrodden by this, AWP are the proudly average quiz team and we will be investing none of our time revising these topics for future challenges in the hope of being impressively mediocre once more.

Our participating nations' best scores were below (category in brackets):

As the worldwide leaderboard focused on scores in the 'All' questions mode, our top member was Numero Capitan who came in at 323rd (at time of writing).

AWP raised its sleepy head to team together with some friends on N-day, with surprising success.

It all started in a conversation between Sauron, Numero Capitan, Frattastan and Karputsk:

Nuca: "what's TRRs plan for N-day, a few AWP people asking if theres a faction we can join”
Sauron: “they joining some crappy super faction"
Karputsk: "what is n day”
Sauron: "come play with us Karp, although not if we are in Uppercut"
Frat: "with your own faction you can probably crawl up a few positions if you lie low and target weaker people while avoiding the big guns”
Nuca: "Mordor and AWP super alliance?”
Sauron: “OK Numero, if its a good name”
… bad suggestions …
Sauron: “The Karputsk one, unless we are targeting fratt”
Frat: “:<“
Sauron: “In which case the frat one”
Frat: “No, I’ll hide in a big faction”

And so It All Goes Karputsk in the End was created...

We had a super fun N-day with old friends Nintendo joining 00000 A World Power and Mordor for the fun, as well as a few other friends who jumped onboard for the ride. We entered the day with one NAP with Canopy, negotiated with our friends in 10000 Islands, and were still busy recruiting members to our faction in the early hours whilst building defences.

Nusra was the first victim of It All Goes Karputsk in the End, serving as a trial run for many of us who had never seriously participated in N-day before. We also sent a few shields to protect the Peoples Front, earning us our second NAP of the day.

Once we got going the other factions started to fall, hitting Rogue Squadron III, Unified Commonwealth Defence Force, J o Jian Nuclear Program, Atonement of Harmony, All Nations Against Liberalism, Alianza de Defensa de la Union Mundial, and Wombling Free. Our most resilient target was the Lemon Bois, who insisted on creating new puppets to resist us almost until the dying end. But when life gives you Lemons, you send nukes.

Radioactive lemons littered the battlefield

AWP stalwart Wibblefeet set the bar for the night: "Okay. the way I see it: we have 157 bodies right now. that's -15,700 pts when/if we get wiped out. I want to score more than that, so we HAVE to end up positive"

However, having crept up to fifth in the scoreboard we started to attract attention.

After Sauron used a single shield in defense of the Minotaurs, the Horsemen didn’t take kindly to our interference and turned their barrage to It All Goes Karputsk in the End - just after our North American contingent and shield sergeants had called it a night. Luigi Dancing did what they could to protect people's main nations from the nuke monster Vinny but we only just survived the barrage, losing Alancar, The Almighty Lenny, Luigi Dancing, Wibblefeet, Voik and Wario in an Offroader in the process.

We had held on to enough nations to return to our assault and at -800 points we tried to crawl back to positive figures, attacking For The Bar. This renewed activity drew the attention of Uppercuts, not yet under assault themselves, and their numbers were overwhelming. After holding the tide back for about an hour, our remaining main nations started to fall, BlazingAngels was destroyed by Zukchiva, Wopruthien was destroyed by McMasterdonia and Numero Capitan fell to Sundred.

Evil Lord Sauron falls victim to the UPPERCUTS barrage

The points focus was lost, and as each nation fell our mission changed. Eventually, with Uppercuts finally under attack from the Horsemen, our few remaining radiated puppets were reminded of words spoken at the formation of our great faction:

Frat: “No, I’ll hide in a big faction”

There was only one mission remaining - hit Frat with whatever limited production we had left. Uppercuts defended the first 38 missiles but eventually we got the first hit on Frattastan. Twelve more hits from It All Goes Karputsk in the End followed before the Horsemen stepped in and finished the job.

It was over, we had launched nearly 13,000 successful strikes over the course of N-day (good for 6th overall), destroyed numerous factions, withstood an assault by the Horsemen and had only been beaten when both of the two major factions had their go at it. For a ramshackle group of old vets who started the day with next to no-one and not much of an idea where to start we had done ourselves proud.

Notable mentions go out to BlazingAngel for being our chief strategist and making us an effective unit, 9003 for being our attack monster, Wibblefeet and Luigi Dancing for defending home soil admirably, Sauron for making this happen in the first place, Nyyx for somehow surviving the whole thing and Karputsk for giving us our name and potentially still not knowing what N-day is. Screw you Frat.
