AHSCA wrote:Marcella had finished her stack of papers sighing relieved but a bit melancholy at the increasingly clouding sky. Looked like Aurora was due for some rain this first night of the festival. As was the way of the Goddesses indeed. Last year the first evening was soaked by rain and also some bad news when Aurelia was ordered to break it off with Marcella. This year she expected it to be better even if still wet. She was ready to close up her office and head out to the village while she could but alas more issues. "Sorry Milady I know it's the festival." A Defense Office Aid entered with some concerned reports Marcella looked at everything "Ooh my, this was not exactly what I expected when I gave the Okay. Do you know where Noir is?"

"Afraid I haven't been able to locate her, Milady, she could be back on Animalpolis. And our Defense Officer has gone home to Corona."

"Which leaves it to me. All right I best get everything straightened." She did earlier in the month authorize some close brushes by military craft from the Scarlet Eagle, but it seemed something got lost in communication between AHSCA and it's two allies stationed here on the island as Mokan and Kyre bases traffic was lit like a Christmas tree. she gave a sigh "Sorry Aurelia, guess i'll be later than I thought. Hang in there a while longer." She just had to make a b-line to the harbor to find Aurelia's ship in harbor once she could free herself up. "Let's see if I can get everyone on the horn without having to go all the way to the Embassy Isle."

"Yes Milady, I have our needed radio coms here ready for you. As a Radio Coms Officer I'll be able to reach everyone for you."

It took some fanessing but first she contacted Mokastana. "ooh let's see if I can remember enough Spanish..." Her father had taught her plenty to communicate as needed with Mokans on the island at abroad. Hola. Duquesa Villa sobre tráfico inusual en nuestra costa. Reading off coordinates as firmly and quickly as she could. "El tráfico aéreo y de barcos ha sido autorizado y no presenta ninguna amenaza para el UIS. No repito ninguna amenaza para el UIS, por favor no participe. No hay motivo de alarma. Duquesa Villa, fuera. " She finished while her radio girl looked over everything "Yes Ma'am for the most part, very good! I think a few odd grammatical choices here and there but they should get the basic idea. "Now let me see if I can raise our friends at RKN."

"Ah at least with them I can speak Common....Good afternoon This is Duchess Villa from the UIS. Our Defense Ministry is regretting some miscommunications here but the ship off our costs" Again coordinates were read. "Ship and air traffic has been authorized and presents no threat to the UIS. I repeat no threat to the UIS please do not engage. no cause for alarm. Duchess Villa, out."

"Very good Milady. Let's see if they respond in affirm. I'm pretty sure I got them on the correct frequency but with our tech here..."

"I know ideally this would be at the Embassy Isle."

"Believe me, I want you to get out to enjoy The Festival."

"What's the weather like off Animalpolis right now?"

"Skies reported clear and seas calm, milady."

"Okay so ideally transmissions will be clearer to the Iwo Jima but might be a big mixed here with a storm approaching."

"Well milady I can still relay broadcast on your behalf but at least we can confirm transmission received for Mokastana Naval Station."

"Well if they're not laughing at my crude Spanish then I'd say mission almost accomplished." Marcella kept her humor up. "All right good news is confirmed recipt of message. It was over encryption lines so it may take them a bit to decode it all but they know it's from us so it shouldn't fall by the wayside. But I got the rest of this Milady, I think you best get a move on."

"I think that's a wise idea too before something else comes up! Thank you Corporal, good work."

Marcella finally was free. This little incident wasn't super serious and should wrap up on its own soon enough. Now running as fast as she could to find The Harira as far as Marcella was concerned, her extra home-away-from-home besides any of her own craft she might take to the seas. Cloudy as it was it really hadn't started raining yet, wouldn't until nightfall but it was a change in the weather hopefully this time, winds for positive change. Maybe the little ship would bob a bit in a choppy harbor sea, honestly the creaks of a ship churning on the seas was music to Marcella's ears. As Kumiko had explained to Tess, Islanders really lived by the weather and it was so often a factor in bringing people together. Marcella giggled as she ran like a school girl down the streets. People took notice their Duchess running so carefree through the streets, not a guard at her side and not formal. She looked like any girl of the island right now.

Kitan

Both Filipina and Amika cooed at that. "Ooh a date! Look at you, touring the islands and already a date for dinner~!" they giggled like the school girls they were. "Sounds good. We'll make sure you're on your way before then to get dressed to impress!"

"For sure, Ava, you'll woo any date you have! Actualy, Amika I'm getting a bit overheated here myself, think we can go now?"

"Sure sure. We'll dress and meet you up whenever you like, Ava, we'll be lingering around. The shaved ice stand is just around the corner of the building with a nice view of the beach so we'll be in no hurry for when you want to join us." Amika guided Filipina on back to change and head outside.

Tsubaki

Weather on Aurora was turning ugly but Animalpolis remained beautiful. "You as well, enjoy the Festival!" she wished them off and continued about her own day. It The Public Onsen was a bit crowded but honestly not too bad, plenty of room to enjoy the hot water and not be packed in like little fishies. a bit different compared to the Kitan where the Kitan was a building with a row of small rooms divided by change rooms this was more like a large open pool with a simple area for disrobing and storage with not much more privacy. Maybe the more bashful might pick a small screen to undress behind. The building was built around a naturally occurring geothermal pool one of the many that were dotted on the island. It was enclosed to be more sheltered from the elements but some of it did extend into the outdoors for those who liked the more open air baths. And they were open always in all weather conditions, rain or shine and night and day. This whole facility was always open. The desk reception greeted them "Oh hi, welcome to the Onsen ladies. 1 Credit for an hour, 4 for two hours. You may leave your clothing and any belongings at any open cupboard, if none available then simply tuck them where there is space and we will care for any values up here. The pools are yours to enjoy and we welcome you to them."

The Scarlet Eagle wrote:Iwo Jima Bridge
As the crew on the bridge do their routine like every day since they have been sent here to keep an eye on the Islands claimed by the Empire, a young ensign assigned to the Communications stations suddenly picks up a contact from the Kyrenaian Naval Station.
-Lieutenant! he calls to his superior officer and handler.
-What is it Jenkins? asks the latter.
-I've picked up a message from the Kyrenaians based there. They want to know if we're in need of assistance, or if our intentions are hostile.
-Ha! Our intentions hostile? That's the best joke I've heard this year! replies the Lieutenant with a laugh, soon followed by others coming from the other sailors present. You heard that Captain? he shouts to Captain Samuel Sterling, at the other side of the bridge.
-Yeah, I've heard replies the tall man with grey hair, blue eyes and a mustache. Ensign, put me in, I'm going to answer it personally.
-Yes Sir! replies the sailor, before typing some orders on his computer, as Sterling picks up the phone next to his chair.

"Naval Base Mokastana Northeast, this is Captain Samuel Sterling, commanding the SAIS Iwo Jima of the Imperial Navy of the Scarlet Eagle. We are in no need of assistance, everything and everyone is fine on my ship. Nor do we have hostile intentions. Our primary mission is to ensure the safety of the waters of the Ttwelve Islands Archipelago our country owns, and as an additional mission, we've been tasked to ensure the security of two important persons of the Empire who are visiting the Islands for a local Festival, as well as inserting them and extracting them without an itch. Does that answer your question?"

Meanwhile...
Naval Base Mokastana Northeast was still sending messages back and forth, noting the contents of the message sent by Iwo Jima, and especially who had sounded quite amused while sending it.
It was logged and would be sent to analysis later on, together with all the other electromagnetic and radiation data collected.
Then the message from the Duchess arrived. Reception was confirmed immediately, decryption did not take long as they had the keys. It said, that everything was alright and that they did not need to engage. The contents were confirmed, too.
A minute later, the radioman from before was on the horn again: "Iwo Jima, Naval Base Mokastana Northeast. We just received word from Marcella-Khana, that you are authorized to be here. Weather radar is picking up a bad weather front heading towards Aurora, it should give you maybe a brush as the current predictions say. Be advised, that the Royal Kyrenaian Navy will respond to any distress calls, so feel free to call for help if you need it. Naval Base Mokastana Northeast, out."
And with that, the matter was closed, left to be filed - or was it? It was worthy to note, that the officer on duty and his crew all got mail from the Sultana two weeks later, mail containing one set of an award known as the Naval Service Badge.
It was an award saying, that these were people, who did their duties dutifully.

Saida Adib.
Tsubaki, Animalpolis.

The receptionist at the Public Onsen was a professional worker here, telling us the rates and the modalities. It was an interesting building, designed around the geothermal hot spring in the center. It was vastly different from a Hammam not only in that aspect, but also that there was only one bath, only hot water, not warm and cold water as well.
It was an experience!
And it would be wonderful for the skin, too, for such springs usually had a lot of minerals in them...
That it was coed and that the bath offered little in the ways of privacy when undressing did not bother us too much. That was actually quite similar to a Hammam.
Fara paid with a ten Credit bill. "Two hours for two, please.", she said and after that formality was done, we entered.
Shedding clothes was easily done, we picked baskets as well - luckily, except for a small purse with a small few bank notes (my Princess was smarter then yours, Sarina!) and an ID-card, we didn't have any valuables on us. They were safely on the Nazim.
Except for the daggers, which both of us carried, but those went to where the purse was: Wrapped into the panties and roundabout into the middle of the stack.
They weren't even expensive blades.
And with that, we entered...

Ava Shabh.
Kitan.

I giggled along - it might even be a romantic date, or at least could turn into one, but their enthusiasm was infectious.
When they left, I nodded. "See you two later, I'll stay for a few more minutes.", I told them with a smile.
As they were gone, I exhaled deeply. They sure were nice girls!
Shaved ice with them would be an awful lot of fun, but for now... I leaned back and allowed the hot water to melt the tensions in my body. The Magic of Hot Water, really!

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Port Aurora, berth of the Harira.

We returned to the Harira before the rain hit and I stowed away my purchases before any could fall either. A water bowl for Aldhiyb had been my first priority, a kettle for me the third or fourth.
The lantern was hung up immediately in the little cabin. It would give light, in port and outside of it, as the boat gently and not-so-gently rocked.
I was unaware of my girlfriend preventing an international crisis.
And just as I put the tea into the now-hot water, I heard Aldhiyb barking. It was not an aggressive barking, "Get out of my territory!", he was a growler and snarler anyway, but it was a happy barking. And that usually meant, that there was someone, who he recognized.
The list, here in the UIS, was rather short, but...
I poked my head out and there she stood.
I knew, that she had tried to come here as soon as she could, her duties came first, but that was immaterial. There she stood.
The most beautiful woman in the world - not only by her looks, but by her mind and soul and... I was dumbstruck for a few long moments. No bodyguards would be present, except Aldhiyb, who was now, that he had alerted me of the visitor, panting happily. I did not avert my eyes from Marcella as I gave him a quick pat on the head, then...
...I stepped out into the open.
"Hello, Marcella.", I said and tears welled up in my eyes. These two words could barely contain the happiness I felt upon seeing her, the love I held for her, the pure and raw emotion I tried to contain in my heart...
I loved this woman with all my heart and no bomb, no traditionalist, no Old Dreadnought, nothing would be able to change that!

Aurora - The lovers reunite again!

Marcella made her dash all the way down to harbor. Not too far even from the Ducal palace but a good run for her. Taking a bit to catch her breath she took time to notice what boats were around to see if she could spot Aurelia's. A lantern bearer, those who stood on the docks at night to give light to ships coming in, already ready for the coming rain spotted Marcella "Oh, Milady Duchess. Really you mustn't be here now there's a storm blowing in."

"Oh I can tell that." Marcella waved it off without concern. "Hey have you seen any craft bearing The Kyrenaian flag?"

"As a matter of fact yes, birthing fees were paid in full and they're roped up just at the end of the pier here" She sighed a second knowing nothing she could do would talk the Sailor Marcella down. So she replied further "Be careful, Milady. It will be a bit rough this evening."

"I can tell, strong wind coming gonna have a good soak. Thank you!" Marcella made her second dash down still full of pep she made it hearing the distinct barking of Aldhiyb "Heeey you!" She stroked his neck with her hands and vigorously rubbed his coat with her hands "good to see you again too! Got our selves a storm coming in, boy, gonna be a rough one! But it'll be fun!" It was exciting this would probably be her first sea storm with her beloved. Then the voice of Aurelia spoke out just enough over the wind and rumblings of thunder Hello, Marcella and there she was. Tall, tan, blonde and beautiful as ever. "And hello to you, Aurelia!" Marcella jumped at Aurelia to hug her though it seemed the listing of the boat took them both down to the floor. Marcella let out a laugh "Oops! Well that could have gone better." she sat back upright again. "How great it is to be here with you tonight, Aurelia, I'm sorry I'm late, I had hopped we could go about the village this afternoon but looks like we'll be hunkered down a bit."

She looked up at the lantern now swaying above "Oooh that's new yeah? What a great lantern!" A sturdy oil lantern, like one Marcella had aboard The Hoshi. Quality old world craftsmanship and it gave the cabin a gentle orange and yellow glow and the rocking just kind of added a little something else. "I missed you." She kissed her.

The Kitan

"Enjoy." The girls left getting dressed. Filipinia in a white sundress and Amika in a white loose fitting yukata. They went along outside to sit at a little bench where they could enjoy their ice together and awaited their new found friend. "ooh my looks like rain today." Amika noticed

"I can smell it in the air. Close?"

"a few hours off I'd say but gonna get a soaking tonight." Amika leaned her head against Filipinia's and asked, "Scared?"

"I'll be okay. Got you here with me don't I?"

"You do and we'll be okay." The two girls were here camping out together but their tent was good on rain. FOr now no worries about the weather just enjoying each other. "mmm now I wish I knew what flavor she liked, I'd be glad to treat her."

"Best wait till she gets here so it doesn't melt on her."

"Hah guess you're right. You're so smart!"

Animalpolis

"Two hours for two. Very good. Enjoy!"

The two girls were allowed to enter the hot water. A fair few people were here, many women, several men and of course children. The children mostly stuck to the outside given they could splash and be more rowdy out there compared to indoor. The enclosed space echoed with conversations and chatter. Next to the women were a couple of other women. Indeed Officer Noir VinoCaco had gone home to Animalpolis for the festival and for the seasonal break, hence why she couldn't be called upon to solve the minor incident. Next to her was the island's own leader, Millhiore a dog-girl! Best known for organizing a couple of balls to celebrate AHSCA's inclusiveness with humans and non-humans alike. Both women were of course off duty just enjoying the days of the festival. Snippets of their conversation would likely hit the lady's eyes.

"I think it's great Cinque offered to be a Ship Marshall." Noir said to Millhiore. Millhiore's husband Cinque had gone aboard a passenger vessel to be a Sea Marshall due to a slight shortage at the moment.

"I think so too, ships do need to be secure and guarded but I still miss him. I was hoping he'd be back in time for the festival but last report they had only just arrived in Mervay. I'm worried, it sounds as though it's been a very stormy voyage for them."

"Can't help what the seas will do sometimes. But he'll be okay, just one more hop skip and he'll be back to you in no time. Only now they took notice a couple of ladies a bit closer to them. couldn't be helped as more people were coming in as the day drew on

"Oh hello!" Noir greeted. Dark skinned humans were a bit of a sight but they weren't the only ones seeing as many from neighboring Corona were here visiting.

"Afternoon," Millhiore greeted as well. "enjoying the hot bath?" she smiled letting her troubles ease away.

Not far at all and I know they have rooms, I was there only about 20 minutes ago and they still had space." She flipped over the book tearing off a coupon "Here, as our apology feel free to take this, a discount if you dine with us or want to partake in the public baths. So please enjoy yourselves while you stay here." She bowed

Looking at the coupon, he thought for a moment "What is that? I just present this piece of paper and I get a discount?" returning to the world he looked at the receptionist "Oh thank you, but there's no need to apologize so there will be no need for that. Maybe the next person can get it. But thank you again." a slight nod and they said farewell, beginning to walk to the other in, "Alright, let's go."

"Why didn't you take the coupon?" Lourdes asked curiously, dragging the luggage.

"That's what that is? No thank you, I don't need a handout."

"It-that's not a handout. Wait..." Lourdes stopped, causing Jose to stop as well. A smile spread on her face "Do..you not know what a coupon is?"

"No, why would I, I'm not poor." Jose responded, checking his watch "Now come on, I wanna get a room before there aren't any."

"It's not for poor people idiota, it is like a ticket that reduces the cost of something. You don't know what a coupon is!"

Jose sighed in a frustrated manner and continued walking to the inn amongst the growing density of the festival's crowds.

"Hey wait up!" Lourdes called out.

Finally reaching the Hoshi Inn, they entered and greeted the reception desk "Good evening, we were recommended here by the Kitan since they were full. We were hoping if you had any rooms available." Jose felt a slight jab on his ankle from Lourdes' foot "Um, two rooms would be preferable."

The Hoshi Inn was a small quaint little inn nestle towards the edge of the village. It was where the Cartoonia visitors also were staying for the night and this rainy evening, the young Sakura was tending the desk to welcome any new check inns. "Good evening." She bid the new guests who came in. "Ah okay." She flipped open the book of reservations "you're in luck and just in time, our last two rooms are available. Rates are 112 Credits per night. She took out a fountain pen to note down their names and log them in. "If all set, I'll be glad to show you both to your rooms." She took the oil lamp off the podium and stepped down from the stool. She was young indeed as she was dwarfed by the two visitors. "Just this way." she beckoned them to follow her down the hallway. Taking them all the way to the end she opened one door on the left "For madam, this will be your room. For you, sir" she opened the door on the right. "Your room here. If you give me a moment to light the lamps for you...And I'll prepare your rooms." She took care of the lady's room first, lighting up a single oil lantern on the desk with the flame from her own. Then took care of the man's room next. Now both rooms were bathed in the warm orange glow of the light.

Darting back and forth between the two rooms she pulled out a futon for the lady and the sir, along with a blanket and pillows for them. "If you want the window open you only need to push the plank of wood open and prop it with the stump. But with the rain I'd advise not to open too much."

AHSCA wrote:“No problem at all, Mister." Tatsuya smiled then took his sister by the hand so they could walk onto the temple. By now it was really coming down a really rainy night on the island but not unusual for this time of year or maybe ever to be honest. The rain had naturally forced a lot of people inside and just as quickly they arrived they scouted for their parents. "Look," Sakura pointed "There's mama!"

A fairly young-ish looking woman in a kimono also with cat ears and a tail like her two children spotted them as well "There you two are! I was starting to worry." She came up to them.

"Sorry, mama."

"Yeah we're sorry. We got a little lost on the trail. But this man helped us get back."

"Ooh." She sighed a little just relieved her two kids were okay. "Thank you sir, thank you for helping my two children."

Nadie nodded "Yeah I'll see you then. Have a good day, fellas, thanks for coming."

“It’s no problem. I just wanted to make sure they get to where they need to be alright. I was actually heading back to the village and to the Great Temple when I saw them trying to find their way back, so I helped the, get out of the forest and they helped me find the Great Temple. And just in time too. It’s pouring out there”.

“Yeah! Thanks for the food and drink”. And with that they both leave the bar and head out to the village. They decided to divide and conquer in two different directions. Randy would go do some shopping in the local stores while Homer, feeling a little buzzed, would go find himself wandering about. Randy goes into a local craft store and Homer would find himself in one of the village’s local brothels.

She sighed with delight "Tessy," She smiled wider "Just don't know how happy I am that you're here to share with me my little hut. No what am I saying, it's now OUR little hut. As of now, you are an islander!" She kissed her once more and hugged her. She loved her so much, this wealthy eleite girl who could have anyone she want of equal social status chose Satou, an ordinary girl. Blessed she was. "Oh and can't forget this, a little statue of the Goddess. No matter what it always comes with us. Well I mean you know should we have to move up to high ground or something." She blushed it wasn't easy to talk about but Tess seemed willing to accept some of the hardships of island life. The next six months could be a real wet one depending on what The Dark Goddess had in mind for the islands.

"Aww your pretty dress is all soaked. Here get it off so it can dry properly!" She quickly helped her out and hung them to dry then Tess went onto mention she had some gifts for her. "Gifts?" She looked intrigued "Ohh tessy you do spoil me but you really don't have to buy me so many things. I love you for being you! Still I will accept whatever you give me."

She opened up her little gift pulling it out it was so ravishing and equsit, Satou was at a loss for words. "T-T-essy!" She said in a harsh whisper "Could this be what I think it is?" She slid the ring onto her finger. "You're presenting me, with your Dowry? Your intent to marry me now?" She stood up again to face Tess square in the eyes. "if it is, than I accept with all my heart!"

Kitan

That warmed Tsubasa's heart a bit to hear she too was a spiritual woman and like her also seemed to accept the existence of multiple higher powers. Even if she was monotheist, she'd still respect that. "Not to worry any secret you have is safe with me." She listened to how her heart gave her a fodness for both men and women alike, so like Tsubasa. Of course one must expect her to remain monogamous she couldn't tell if she would want to share if she could.

"I see. Those are tough matters of public appearance and what you desire. Well you never know my dear there could be someone here for you. You know a worker of mine, bright and sweet little lady and hard worker, fell head over heels for a girl of your homeland. I have a good feeling those two will go far together as a young couple."

Tess smiled warmly at her lover as she kissed her on the cheek, then she shed her own wet things.

"Glad to hear then, and yeah I saw you were good at them and I wouldn't mind to help you with all the materials." She said smiling at her and sighing in delight too, six months with her beloved Satou, soon her life, and that was the greatest achievement of her life and one she wouldn't change for nothing.

She smiled happily when she mentioned that this was now their hut and that Tess was an islander. That did put quite the wide toothy and warm smile on her face, full of happiness and joy as she heard that.

"Sweetie... I'm so, so happy, I'm glad that this is our hut and that I'm an islander too. You don't know how happy that makes me. As I'am an Islander, you also are an Mervayan now... I love you. I love you so much..."

And so the happy couple shared another kiss and hug in where Tess kissed her back lovely and passionately. Tess was lucky and blessed to know someone like Satou and that she was her beloved fiancé or soon to be...
When she mentioned that they will be always with an statue of the goddess and that it could serve when they might be forced to go to high ground if something went wrong.

"Don't worry sweetie, I can cope with it. You know well I'm ready for everything and take for sure that when the worst case scenario happens, I will be ready."

She said grinning, all the risks were worth the reward if in this case that meant to be close to her beloved Satou.

Then Satou helped her get her dress out and hung it quickly so it could dry too, which she smiled and thanked her lover, kissing her once again before mention she has gifts with her, those sweet beautiful gifts, one of them an lovely surprise.

The reaction was like expected, beautiful and seeing Satou just accept it entirely even before she even told it said about their connection as a couple. That made her kiss her once again when she said the long waited word. "Yes."

It was a long passionate kiss between the couple that Tess made sure that they got off when they needed air and so, she caressed her cheeks and grinned at her.

"Sweetie. Thank you... Thank you for being my wife now, we are ready to take that step and I hope I can make you happy... Satou... I love you... I love you so much... My dear wife..."

And so, the beloved Mervayan girl kissed her islander girlfriend with passion, happy that now they were an arranged couple, Tess will make sure Satou was happy, no matter what...

The Kitan

She smiled at Tsubasa keeping her secret with her, Agus being glad of that. This was an very needed thing to be kept in secret and she knew well that and so she was glad she could trust on the spirit.

"Thank you. Thank you for keeping this secret Tsubasa, hope it isn't an problem."

Agus smiled warmly at her friend as she mentioned two things. One that she might find that someone here; and two. The example of Tess and Satou, that put another smile on her face as she leaned even lower onto the water, letting relax on it.

"Ohh yeah, Ma'am Tess Dileva and Satou Fujimiya, I'am friend of the lady at home, you don't know how happy that makes me. Guess you might see me at the wedding here soon, hehe..."

She laughed a bit before looking up the window and the rain coming down the earth, nodding with what Tsubasa said. She does has a point, she might find the true love here as so no, who knows?? Everything could happen.

"You have a point on that. I might find my true love here... Still we have to wait and see aren't we??"

With his hands on his hips, Jose gave a smile and nodded "Thank you very much miss, we'll contact you if we need anything. Oh wait! These rooms have bathrooms, correct? I mean no offense but the oil lamp and the window thing make me think the latrine is a hole in the ground out in the back. Please tell me I am wrong."

As they spoke, Lourdes walked into her room, put her luggage to the side of the and fell on her back onto the bed, letting out a sigh. "This isn't so bad, this could be a nice humbling experience." she thought.

"We will welcome him with open arms if he wishes to talk to us. Whether he wants to simply seek our spiritual advice or even deem himself apart of the faith by converting. That's the exact perfect way to look at it. The light and shadow will always be around the best is to remain just as close as one can in the middle of all things. The Dark Goddess isn't always malevolent but her emotions are wild and thus represents our wild impulses of emotion. Lust for example. The Goddess of light is pure and good but at the same time one can't always suppress some of their dark emotions. One must cry, and feel sorrow and shame and be afraid and angry. They should be able to feel happy, joyful and comforted. When you get the sense of both, Both Goddesses will look fondly and protect from curses brought upon by the Witches. Stray too far, you will face their curses greater than you wish. We feel all people contain some ratio of dark-and-light in them.

Alas we feel that is what brought us to our knees those years ago, Duchess Tamura Nanao and Duchess Akira Nanao did many a things that laid some framework for how we are today as a country in the world of global politics. But her wicked whimsy may have pushed away the light a great deal. We always feel blessed by the light but also have to bear the hardships of the dark. The mighty storms we face, the sickness that sometimes plagues us. A reminder of our place in this universe and how we must be mindful of our past sins. Duchess Shino is maybe a little too basked in light which put her through her hardships and made the Dark Goddess more aggressive than normal. Duchess Marcella as we feel has an equal sense of the dark and light in her but she could easily tilt one way or the other. The Goddess respect, love and fight each other for balance in all things. Balance itself never impossible but unsustainable. We prepare to move to our season of endless rain. A block of many days and nights where Homura shall determine to send the deluge or shall Madoka provide her radiant light. Even this evening, storm clouds will gather above us that will bring the rain, and just as quickly the day will come and the clouds will part and the cycle will continue."

Animalpolis

Kiri suddenly found herself at the mercy of a dog bearing it's teeth and seemed ready and poised to go after her. What did she do to bring this kind of treatment on from such a fine looking canine? Maybe it was her wolf-like-features on her, sometimes non-native animals didn't know how to react to local populus. She hoped the neko and foxes would be okay now. "Aaah hi....easy does it pooch...I'm friendly...Promise..." the owners managed to calm it down which calmed her down. No harm done no sense getting angry at it. "Ah, well that's okay. Animals will be animals I guess. Welcome visitors to Amurabe. I'm Kiri Yumura, I'm the Sheriff here. My friend gave me a call that some folks might be heading in, I guess that'd be you folks."

The Shop
The shop keeper had finished wrapping up their goods when someone came to retrieve them. "A good morning to you too, sir. Uuuh...Yes I have them all wrapped and set for pickup. Though I must say this is a bit unusual to have such an envoy for some simple shopping pick ups. I mean I'm probably not in a position to question any foreign nation but I could have worked out some shipping arrangements for them..." she did know people were coming to pick things up but she didn't really expect this.

AURORA

"I'm sure he will be delighted to come here and talk with you, replies Daniel to the Priestess. Although don't expect him to convert, since the Emperor has a figurehead sort of role in our national religion, Scarlet Eagle Spiritism. It would cause an outrage back home if he did, just like it would here if Duchess Villa converted from Madokanism to another religion.
In the end, what you said described him pretty well. Thank you for having taken the time to welcome us here, and talking with us. Now..."
Before the Ambassador can continue his sentence, a ringtone is heard coming from his pocket. Without hesitation, he picks his smartphone from his pocket and answers it.
"Vincao here... What?...Okay, I understand, but there was really no need toscramble like this. I'll have to clarify our procedures with the Foreign Office. Relay this to the Imperial Palace, and send my apologies to the Duchess's Office... Yeah, bye Andrea." finishes Daniel before hanging up.
-What was that about Dad? asks Henry with a bit of worry in his voice.
-Apparently, the Kyrenaians have interpreted the presence of an Osprey and the Iwo Jima who assist Mrs Smetov and Petrenko as a potential threat, and we nearly got a diplomatic incident on our hands.
-Oh come on? Why do they do this? shouts the 12 year-old boy as tears start to well up in his eyes. It seems as if everytime we do a thing, they manage to deform the facts to make us appear as the bad guys! Why do they do this?
-Hey hey Henry, here, Mommy is here, says Patricia with a soothing tone as she hugs her son who crys a bit in his mother's lap.
- Henry, don't fret down on this, says his dad as he rubs his son's shoulder in a comforting gesture. I agree, they have been nitpicking on this one, but you have to understand them. If you habe a military vessel sitting off the coast of one of your allies, who deploys aircrafts for no seemingly valid reasons, it can be considered as a potential threat. Like I said, they don't know that Personal Guards of the Emperor and Empress are always considered on duty and are allowed tp use military assets in such a manner. Don't worry, everything is fine now.
-For sure? asks the boy as he wipes his eyes and cheeks.
-Yeah, for sure. Now dry your tears, I'll recap the situation to Mrs Petrenko and Smetov, and everything will be settled."
With that said, Daniel takes his smartphone again, and types a message.
"There, done! He says once the message is sent. So, Miss, sorry for this, he continues as he turns back to the Priestess. Now, I would like to know if you can please show us around the temple some more, and if we have enough time to do it before the rain hits."

ANIMALPOLIS
Amurabe
"Yeah, that would be us, replies Catherine as she and Patricia shake hands with Kiri. Nice to meet you Sheriff.
-Nice to meet you, says Patricia as well. Sorry about Gopnik, it's just that he hasn't seen animal people in the past, and given the fact you're a wolf-person, he may mistaken you for a potential threat. If you want, you can pet him, I'm sure this will resolve the problem.
-Yup, continues Catherine. We heard of this nice village by a friend, and we would like to know if you could please show us around?"
But before Kiri can answer, Catherine's and Patricia's phone ring in their pockets. As both women take them out, they read the message they have received.
"Well, seems like the Kyrenaians got a bit paranoid, says the blonde woman to her friend with a small chuckle. We'll have to detail our procedures to them next time.
-Yup, at least that kept them awake before the storm, replies Patricia with a chuxkle as well. Anyway, sorry about that Sheriff, she continues as she turns back to Kiri. As you see,my dog clearly wants to make friends with you."
And indeed, Gopnik is wagging his tail, sitting down on his haunches, and panting slightly while looking at the wolf woman.

The Shop
"I understand your uneasiness, and I'm sorry for that, replies the Marine with a sheepish smile. But given the fact that the persons you met are members of a close circle of our monarchs in the Imperial Guard, not to mention they are nobility and they are authorized to use us as backup, here we are. This wa y,you don't have to worry about making shipping arrangments, and they get their purchases quickly. It's a win-win, no?"
Just as he finishes his sentence, his radio beeps, and he answers it.
"Well, I would have loved to talk more with you Miss, but unfortunately it seems our presence here has been misunderstood as a threat to your country by some of your allies, and nearly caused a diplomatic incident. So if you don'r mind, we'll hightail it back to our ship as quick as we can. Have a nice Festival!"
And with that said, the young man grabs the packages with his colleague, before loading them in the Badger, and driving back to the Osprey where they take off back to their ship.

Saida Adib.
Tsubaki, Animalpolis.

I recognized Vicano and I knew, that Fara did, too. I knew, that she also recognized Millhiore, the Island's own ruler, the dog ears only captivating her eyes for a moment. We knew of the Spiorad and I knew, that Fara was in regular letter-contact with one.
The atmosphere in the bath was very relaxed in general, kids playing, chatter from all sides going in and out, but we didn't really listen in. It seemed like a private conversation, so we had little business with it.
Only when both of them called out to us, we turned to them.
"Indeed we are, Milady.", Fara said and bowed her head politely. "It is wonderful... a true blessing this island has!"

Ava Shabh.
Kitan.

I remained in the bath a few more minutes, then I excused myself as well from the male company. Drying off and redressing are not things we need to go into much detail about.
A few minutes later, I exited the Kitan, turned around the corner of the building and immediately spotted the two of them.
It looked like rain... well, so much for a romantic walk along the beaches with Ren...
In any case, I approached the two of them from the side. "Hey, there, Pina, Mika.", I said, using nicknames, which were hopefully to their liking, "Everything cool with you?"
Gods, my jokes had been better in the past...

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Port Aurora, berth of the Harira.

When Marcella jumped into my arms, she took us both down, onto the deck. Indeed, it could have gone better, but that pain from the crash quickly vanished.
I had Marcella in my arms again!
She noted the lantern and I was about to explain, that I got it for free with a number of purchases, when Marcella said, that she had missed me and kissed me and I returned it.
Well, give a pair of girls some privacy, please!
When that was done, I held my forehead to hers, looked into her eyes. Gods, I had missed them...
"I missed you, too...", I said, almost whispered, "Not a minute went by, where I didn't think of you, not a night went by, when I didn't yearn for your presence..." Aldhiyb barked, most likely a bit offended. I giggled. "Sure, he's a good snuggler..." That seemed to mollify my Sand Wolf. "...but he's not you."
I sat myself up as well, wrapped my arms around Marcella and pulled her close.
"I love you, Marcella.", I whispered into her ear.

She nodded with a smile "Well I am truly grateful for your help. Indeed it is coming down really good. Well that's what it's like here many days and nights at times. Sometimes perfect, other times very rainy like this. Oh well, we'll have a nice festival to come, I'm sure. Are you visiting here for it?"

Homer would find himself at the Kasai, perhaps the best known of the cat houses in the islands, especially Aurora Island. At night this was a literal red-light district when the red lanterns would bathe the small alley way in it's light but in the light of day it looked pretty ordinary.

The women at the front greeted him when Homer walked in. "Looking for some time with a lovely lady, sir? Our rates start at 12,000 Credits and go up to 25,000."

Randy in a crafts shop ran by Himiko a local artist and painter. Her art adorned the walls. "Welcome." She greeted

Satou smiled at Tess assuring she was ready to put up with anything for her and to declare herself an Islander and Satou a Mervayan just filled her with joy. Indeed she was now going to be a citizen of two wonderful lands. "And I'll do my best to keep learning all the great and wonderful things Mervay has to offer. I had so much fun when I visited you and it was so great!" And of course it was indeed what Satou thought it was Tess' proposal, her dowry to her, her request to make Satou her wife. "My wife..." Her eyes filled up with tears of joy as she embraced Tess "I love you so much too!" That hug could have lasted forever but Satou pulled away gently still gazing at her beloved. "Why don't I make us some tea? We can talk a little bit, catch up. I want to know how your trip was down here? Did you fly, did you come by sea?" Satou put on a kettle for them to have a cup of tea together. "How are your parents doing? And your friends? How is Mervay in general doing? I hope it's all great news to report?"

"Aaah so you know exactly who it is?" She smiled "Well yes, Satou is a fine young woman and a fine employee of mine. She's found herself a good girl to love, she should be excited.

Aurora

"Of course, no conversion expected, only an offer I wanted to say was around. Our guidance is still ready and waiting when he sees fit."

The Priestess frowned a bit with her head cocked when the young boy got upset over some news his father spoke but all seemed well when he calmed him down her smile returned. "I'd be glad to continue to show you around the Temple. For example right now, we're in a Reflection Room. We come here to be in quiet and solitude for meditation, prayer and other needs." She got back to her feet rolling up the scroll and putting it back to the shelf. "Now please follow me, I can show you the grounds outside first then more inside." Outside first was the garden, "All of us work to maintain all the plants and flowers you see here. We grow our own food and cultivate it. We give some away if asked, sell if needed and anybody is welcome to pitch in and help even if it is mostly for us Temple Maidens. Just beyond is a path into more jungle lands, long walks are not uncommon among us or even our guests we have here. Now back inside."

Back in was other areas of the Temple, their kitchen, she pointed the general direction of their rooms. "Those who commit to being a Priestess as their choice will often reside here much like a abbey. It's not required of course but it is encouraged as it builds comradely and closeness with each other. Part time Priestesses, those who are volunteers with us, Such as the Princess, are welcome to stay as well but usually only those who are fully committed stay here. The Temple is the main hub of everything here but there are small shrines scattered around the island, all islands in fact, to cater to the other villages who need it or do smaller duties like training. Some have their own barracks and others just come and go as needed. The Temple gets busy around festival time as you can imagine, between pilgrims and tourists. And of course we also become a refuge during hurricanes."

Animalpolis

"Well if he'll let me, I'd be glad to give him a petting." She reached her hand out gently allowing him to get a scent and he seemed okay with her after all. "Aww what a good boy. Such a sweetie."

Apparently something went down, nothing over the usual radio traffic so maybe something more serious but well no harm done it seemed. "Mmm seems a lot of unusual stuff going on today. Oh well I guess that's the festival for you. Anyway, sure I can show you folks around. Amurabe is a coastal village so we specialize in fishing for the most part so you can see the harbor growing more crowded as the fishing boats come in for the season. Only the truly brave or truly foolish venture out in the monsoon. Anyway, right behind us is the village Bathhouse. You'll find big bathhouses like these are pretty common all around with as many thermal springs are around. If you feel like a hot soak later, go there, worth your time.

Both women blinked a second when they were greeted rather formally with a Milady. Noir chuckled, "Guess we've already been spotted, Millihi."

"Hehe well I guess it can't always be helped." Milli's ears gave a wiggle her tail bobbed in and out of the water. "But it does save on introductions."

"We're enjoying it too." Noir continued sinking herself back into the water having been sitting on the ledge for a bit. "So nice to get away from all the work for a while. Bet you ladies feeling the same? Here all the way from... let me see...." She mused and rubbed her chin. "Kyrenaia right? Visiting us from the Great Sultanate for our great festival?"

"Noir is good with detecting dialects." Millhiore

"Comes with the territory." She chuckled.

"Still in such a spacious place with so many conversations. It's like you're psychic or something!"

"Hehe come on Millihi really, I'm just good at what I do."

Kitan

"Pina." Filipina giggled "Pretty cute I like it."

"Hehe yeah Mika isn't bad too. Yeah ice cold!"

Filipina just shook her head about the exchange of puns. "Allow me to treat you, Ava. Any flavor you like, only a Credit each!"

She put down a Credit bill for the stand owner so no way to refuse now. Flavors were pretty typical of many shaved ice stands anywhere, fruit flavors and mixtures like pina colada and some alcohol flavored ones.

Harira

"I know the feeling so much. Missing you and thinking of you all the time and just wanting to have you with me." She laguhed a bit at the loyal and sweet Aldhiyb having to get a sort of version of what about me? "Mhm." Pulled in close and just enjoying being in her warm embrace again. After having to meet again during such sad terrible circumstances she was glad this was going well. Aurelia's voice was sweet as a Siren's song. The perfect romantic atmosphere and Marcella's dream. The cabin with just the two of them the rocking seas, wind, rain, thunder. A good night to be with someone you love. But there would be plenty of time to explore that passion in a while for now, Marcella spoke again breaking the moment of silence where they just held each other. "How 'bout some tea?"

She opened a small door that lead to the toilet and nothing else. "For cleaning, most guests use public baths but if you need I can have a wash tub for you and for the Lady. Do you want me to do that?"

“You know what madame? Don’t, you’ve done your share. We’ll only stay here until tomorrow anyways. Thank you again.” He gave a nod before dismissing himself to his room and flossing his door. Putting his suitcase atop the bed, he opened it and examined it. Finding what he needed: an umbrella and a light jacket. It was dark blue from neck to the chest and white the rest of the way, under the brand FILA. He had a case for his sunglasses too but with the weather, who knew. Putting on the jacket he looked around the room, “It’s like I time warped to some backwater home in 1800s.” He said to himself

As he grabbed his umbrella, about to leave, he heard a knock “Who is it?”

“Me!” It was Lourdes.

Entra. Come in.

Hey” she came in, taking a few steps she stood by the open door “Are we only staying one day? We took more than that getting here.

No we’re not leaving tomorrow. We’re staying here at this inn until tomorrow. Check if the Kitan has freed up a bit for tomorrow and if not we’ll sleep in the yacht.

And this public bath thing? I have to wash with others?

Well, yes. But it’s ok, they have male and female showers so we’re good there. Ready to go?

Oh, where are we going?” she asked.

I don’t know. I’d we should tour but you might not like these pagan things.

I could go for a bite. I am a bit hungry.

“Good, then we’ll go to the restaurant.” He said in English, walking towards her “Let’s go.”

“Wait, I’ll get my hat and purse.” she went to her room, meeting Jose in the hall. Wearing a wide beige sunhat and a purse slung on her shoulder and going across her chest, she was ready. “Ready.”

As they left Jose stopped at the desk once more “Hello miss, one more favor. You wouldn’t happen to have the time would you? My watch is delayed.”

Ren seemed to perk up at this. She must have been the type to always want to be learning something. Kiri wondered privately if a spirit like herself would be welcome at such a holy place, but decided that if no one had been surprised by her yet it was probably fine.

"Of course, of course, we welcome travelers, visitors and guests to be with us. We only ask for your respect and kindness in return. Please come with me, it's not too far from here."

She guided the group of new arrivals down the village square past shops, huts and everything else. The great Temple was finally there, the path cleared since being kindly cleaned by the attending maidens. "Go right on in, I need to take the to storage."

She parted their company and once they went inside they were greeted by Chise. "Welcome, to the Great Temple. Feel free to look around if you want, or if you have questions or need a place to stay feel free to ask me or any other maiden on duty today. We welcome you to our place of Worship."

"We thank you greatly," Sakura said and smiled.

Ren looked around in wonder. Kiri knew Ren would be eager to learn about this place and its customs, but was surprised when Ren walked toward the nearest maiden or priestess. Usually her younger sister barely talked to anyone. Kiri followed.
Sakura walked off to find someone to speak to about staying the night here, unaware (or perhaps completely aware?) that her daughters weren't following.

Once she had someone's attention, the small Ren spoke, her head tilted slightly. "Who do you worship here, miss?" Kiri was right behind her, now wondering the same thing, but also quietly very happy that her sister was being brave enough to talk to someone.

"Good idea.", I said and kissed Marcella on the cheek, "I got the kettle on in a few minutes, it should..." The whistling interrupted me rather unkindly. I giggled. "Well, so much for timing. I'll be back in a second!"
With great reluctance, I left the comfortable embrace, but I did take care of it, that Marcella would not be alone while I worked the tea: Aldhiyb, after a low click of my tongue, padded over and put his head into Marcella's lap, looking up at her with his big, blue, innocent eyes and swishing tail.
"He was a good lad today, so he deserves petting!", I called over as I took out a tea mixture. "...hm... want to taste the tea Grandma Alaina serves in her inn in Seabhcóir?"

AURORA
The family of three follows the Priestess as she guides them around the Temple, nodding at times to show their understanding.
Once the visit is complete, Daniel speaks to her:
"Thank you very much Miss for this nice visit, and for having taken some of your time to explain your faith and talking with us. I find this place very relaxing, so I would like to know if it's possible to come and meditate from time to time here, even though I'm from a different faith? Also, please accept this." says the Ambassador as he hands her a small packet of Island Credit bills rolled together. Unrolling them would reveal around 2000 of them.

As Kiri the sheriff extends her hand towards him, Gopnik gets her scent, before leaning into the wolf's woman hand to get a good petting.

"Indeed, lots of unusual things today, replies Catherine with a sigh and a sad smile. But let's put that aside, she says to Kiri, as Patricia listens to what the Sheriff explains as well, while taking pictures with her smartphone. I don't doubt that the old timers know when it'll be raining, old people have always had this kind of wisdom no matter where you go in the world, and it's always good to sit down with them and learn things, says the blonde woman with a smile. If I may ask Sheriff, how do the locals here see strangers like us coming to visit what was still a year before considered a native-only celebration?"

Sabin Castamir, Prince-Ducal of Figaro

Outside the Kitan, Aurora Port

Sabin eventually and hastily made his way and decided "ta’ hell with it". It's not every day one gets to enjoy shaved ice with an immortal entity. There were a few remarks on the oncoming storm. “Hopefully not much rain will come…” Sabin would remark “Or we may have to dine indoors…” after only a few thoughts, he decided fortune favored the bold and the kind. “That’ll be on me.”

Aceus Elurion, King of Danceria

Pub, Misakichi Village, Animalopolis

The man nodded, while he would circle around the miniature shrine, he would make his way to Tsubaki. “Thank you for your help.” he smiled and tipped the waitress before exiting the pub, hoisting his rucksack over his shoulders. Now, it was off to the small shrine, and later onto the greater temple of Animalopolis.

"Thank you, Pina.", I told her and then ordered a fruit flavour from the vendor, promising myself, that the next round would be on me. After that, I sat down next to the two of them. "Looks like rain tonight... not a good weather for flying, that's for certain."

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Port Aurora, cabin of the Harira.

Tsubaki

"Very nice! I've been meaning to get there myself, on something besides state Business anyway. If Her Majesty ever lets me go instead of her, any excuse she can muster to see her beloved Aurelia she'll jump on it." She chuckled

"Can't deny a girl in love, Noir, especially not her Majesty."

"Sure sure. Just want her to depend on me a little too--- ah never mind -- I shouldn't get into that during festival time. Forgive a headstrong woman who maybe is a little too married to her work. Anyway, The Freelands is on my places to visit as a tourist too! Ooh so many good places to go see, hopefully not when retired. Anyway, again welcome to the Islands. And don't worry about your English skills, you're doing fine! Honestly considering the noise in here, better than probably most would do! So did you start here on our lovely Animalpolis or are you like most and started at Aurora?"

AURORA - The Kitan

"Hehe...It really is cute" she giggled at her little nickanme. "Amika, you can call me Pina sometimes on top of Filli!" She urged her girlfriend with a bright smile.

"You got it!" Sitting and enjoying their time together "Yup, that sky's ready and waiting to tear open tonight. Hope you weren't planning on flying out tonight, can't speak to where you're from but storms here are pretty rough for sea and air travel. Something just about where we are in the world generates them to be a little rougher."

"Mmmmmm...." Filipina nervously sighed "Oh, Ava, you said you had a question for us?" Really she wanted to move on from it. "Something kind of private I guess, you didn't want to share back in there?"

AURORA - Aboard the Harira

"Hehehe hey, you!" She petted his head and ruffled his coat and rubbed his neck with her hands "Aww I missed you too! Good thing Aurelia has you as her loyal companion. Always at her side when I can't be, you're just as important to the two of us! Oh that sounds delightful, I'd like to try some." She then pressed her forehead against his wet nose and gave it a little kiss.

ANIMALPOLIS

AURORA

"It's been my pleasure to have you as my guests for a short time. And that I was able to teach you some history of our faith. Yes the rooms are always welcoming for any faith who needs some peace and meditation to get their spiritual needs centered again." She blushed a little with a smile "Your generosity is most welcome." She gave a deep bow of gratitude "Thank you very much! Now is there anything else I may show you or explain? If not I shall part your company and you are free to look around the Temple as long as you like."

ANIMALPOLIS

"That's great question. You'd almost think it'd be very split on generational lines but honestly it's pretty mixed. Younger folks like me have their opinions, like I for one welcome anyone who wishes to learn and see what our traditions are like. We were quite isolationist for a good while and I think it's nice we want to be more welcoming and open with everyone else. There are still those who feel this is a sacred tradition and only those of the faith and those of the island should be the ones to partake in it. That includes old and young and some Priestesses as well. For example, just a few kilometers from us is the village of Fubuki, very small and pleasant, smaller than us even and inland. They too have their own shrine dedicated to the faith and the Matron there she's a staunch traditionalist and believes this is our most holy of times and should be local only. Our Matron here, well she thinks along the same lines but still is welcoming to those guests who have arrived. She won't turn anyone away as Matron Tamamo in Fubuki would. But rest assured, law is well kept even in these parts, violence against tourists is exceptionally rare."

The man nodded, while he would circle around the miniature shrine, he would make his way to Animalopolis. “Thank you for your help.” he smiled and tipped the waitress before exiting the pub, hoisting his rucksack over his shoulders. Now, it was off to the small shrine, and later onto the greater temple in Animalopolis proper.

(ooc: not sure if Sabin is still trying to stay with the other ladies he was with or not but I'm gonna give another character he can chat up with, been awaiting to make some sort of fateful meeting between the Prince and the young girl he saved from the hurricane. I know it's not him in this case but it's a good start! So bear with me here, concerns bring it up in the OOC or TG me. Also in regards to Aceus as he's already on Animalpolis I take it he's visiting the shrine at Misakichi first then he'll make way to Tsubaki it's a bit of a trek but it's fine.)

(IC): The hot bath did them good, Fumio and Kaori were relaxed as can be now outside ready to see what to do next. Kaori mumbled "rain...." Noticing the clouding sky

"Mmmm seems our first night here will be a rainy one, my dear. It'll be okay we'll make due! Hey, how about an ice."

Kaoir lifted her puppet up and spoke through him "Yes, that sounds good!" She also nodded silently as well. "One lemon, one lime please." Fumio ordered for herself and her Kaori. Kaori starred up at the man especially when he seemed to offer to pay for them. "Oh, I couldn't impose on you, sir..." she removed her large sunhat a bit bashful herself. like mother like daughter it seemed.

ANIMALPOLIS

Shrines were often places of in-training Priestesses and often shrines to cater to the small out of the way villages. The dedicated would of course make their pilgrimages to the Great Temple down in Tsubaki on the southern coast but that didn't make the Shrines any less important. This paticular shrine was headed by Senko Shiba one in a long line of Matrons who had cared for this shrine for generations. She merrily swept around the stone path that lead upward to it. No job to menial, all Priestess work together, even the Matrons. "Ah, greetings, stranger!" She greeted the Prince when he stepped upon her path. Given he was human it was safe to assume he was probably from another island or another country, though it's not as though Animalpolis didn't have ANY humans among them. "Not from this village I can tell so must be a guest among us. So welcome, if you wish to enter than please pass along, if you need me to speak than I shall."

"We arrived here.", I said with a smile, "Our first port of call in the UIS. It's... lovely indeed."
"Not the word I would use, but yes, it is a very beautiful place.", Fara agreed, "Especially the people are beautiful. So nice and open!" She smiled, sat up a bit while slightly turning to the two: "You see, we met a young Priestess by coincidence and she invited us to tea, which led to us getting the day-job as waitresses at a local coffee house to allow the actual waitress, who is pregnant, to relax a bit." She grinned excitedly. "Both Saida and I have a bit of experience with being Handmaidens, so it was not a problem, but even two waitresses like us were treated with friendliness."
"A Handmaiden is usually treated with respect, but not with friendliness.", I added as an explanation, "No matter the jewels they might find under this land, Milady, the friendliness of the people is its greatest treasure."
We meant every word.

I nodded, swallowing my bite.
"Indeed, I wanted to ask you something very personal, Pina.", I said a moment later, "If you do not want to reply, feel free to decline replying, I will not be angry and I will not pressure you - besides, I doubt, that I would be able to with your defender by your side." I threw Mika a wink.
"Now... I wanted to ask you about your blindness.", I said and awaited the explosion.

Aldhiyb enjoyed every moment of it and if he could have blushed, I knew, that he would have blushed as Marcella kissed his snout.
"I'm getting jealous over here!", I joked, then put the tea, my Grandmother's special blend, into the water. It would take a few minutes. I exhaled. "He kept me company during the nights, so that the nightmares didn't get me." I had told Marcella about the nightmares, from the attempt on my life in Lux Pulchrae and from the Al'Arz Attack. I had written about them in my letters. She knew, that I was in psychological treatment because of them. The shrink's recommendation was snuggling. "He kept watch over me in your stead. But some countries did not allow me to bring him with me, so I was almost on my own. The memory of you and your face kept the lines steady against that darkness..."
I swallowed.
"...but there were nights, when even that was not enough.", I said and sat down next to Marcella, not looking at her but into my lap due to what I wanted to tell her. Not through letters, but personally, but I could not muster the courage to look her in the eyes. "In these nights, I went into my father's room and slept in his bed, snuggled up to him. He allowed it. We didn't do anything we should feel ashamed about it." Some might argue that a grown woman running to her Daddy due to nightmares might qualify, but I am a Daddy's Girl, so... anyway. "I still feel, as if I betrayed you, Marcella."

Noir and Milli listened nodding with a smile, Milli in particular held her cheeks with her face going red maybe from the hot water but mostly just the compliments paid by the two visiting women. Milli cooed rather loudly "arrrruf!" her animal instincts came out there "It just warms my heart to hear such wonderful views of this place I call home! I'm so glad we're all so friendly to visitors. Islanders are renowned for their hospitality, kindness and generosity! Glad that reputation is holding well."

Noir continued, "As am I. I'm glad you two have been having an enjoyable time, even a time to help out a little! I'm sure those you helped are eternally greatful. Truly you'll be blessed by your Gods and our Goddesses alike."

"Blessed with safe travels, calm seas, fair skies and a open port for when you depart back for home!" Milli agreed "Oh, now that I think about it, did you come by sea?"

"Hehe sorry, Aurelia, you know you're my number one! Boy feel like I have to compete for the affection of TWO!" She laughed that off. She listened to Aurelia speak, she'd obviously had trauma since the incidents she's faced. Marcella hadn't faced this herself, she couldn't imagine what poor Aurelia was going through but she could offer her empathy.

"I know what that's like....Well okay...I can't imagine the terrible nightmares you have, that must keep you awake and stir you in the night....But I can relate a little." She leaned in closer "My mother you know, she still has terrible nightmares too about her time during The War. Her time as a prisoner and that. Added to that her terrible fear of thunder, some nights were really rough for her. Since I was little and now still till this day even it can be a hardship. Papa has always been there for her but there were times he couldn't. And when he couldn't I had to be there for her. Me, the daughter who could be just as frightened of her own shadow at times would be the one for her to count on and depend on.

"Welcome." She greeted.

“Yeah! I’m visiting from another country. I’m not sure if you heard of it though”.

“Hold on” Homer says, still feeling buzzed, going through his wallet, and well… crud. Only 500 credits.

“Oh” Homer says tipsily. “It appears I don’t have that kind of money on me at the moment”.

“Hello” Randy replies. He looks up at the art in awe of such beauty. Many of the art museums in Cartoonia are just of those from the US or Europe, but seeing different works of art around the world is just appealing to him.

“By God! I never seen such beauty in art before. Did you create this?” Randy asks the shopkeeper.

"Ah a fine question, Madam, please just follow me a step." She beckoned them to follow her to the statues of their Goddesses. "Madokami the Goddess of Holy Light and beauty and love and peace, is our Goddess we worship. Next to her is the Goddess Homura, night, darkness, rain, storm, lust, desire. Of great beauty herself. Now there are sects among us, with some placing more in one Goddess over the other, but for the most part we all follow the same basic principals and same origins. It may sound like a recipe for conflict but we do get along and work together no matter what. There's a great detail to the story that I can inform you on, not to convert you or anything just if you want to learn." Her eyes then turned and fell on Kiri a little more. "My, I had no idea we'd be visited by a yūrei today as well, at least one so openly! Many take on more covert forms but we welcome you just as you are. Please, will you tell me your name, young lady? In fact may I get all your names? I do like to meet new people."

"She seems nice," Ren commented about Madokami. "Homura must be too. Rain and night and storms are beautiful too."

When the maiden noticed Kiri and asked her name, she replied "I'm Kiri Mori, ma'am, and this is my sister Ren. Our mother's around here somewhere and her name is Sakura."

If Kiri was related by blood to Ren and Sakura, she certainly hadn't inherited any kitsune traits. Perhaps her father was human.

"I... didn't know yūrei could disguise themselves like that. I guess I haven't learned how to do that yet. I'm glad I'm welcome, though. I was worried that people in a holy place like this would think I'm an evil spirit or something..."
Though it was clear that she was worried before, she was much more comfortable now that she had been reassured.

"I definitely want to learn more, miss," Ren said. "Mom says it's important to learn about other religions and cultures. She's a messenger of the kami Inari, so she has to learn lots of things."

The formerly shy girl seemed very eager. Maybe she'd be like her mother someday.

I knew, that this was a very hefty question, but... maybe I did not overstep my bounds.

I listened to Marcella, looking over to her without turning my head.
I felt ashamed, although I knew, what she was trying to tell me: To not feel ashamed. To rely on her. To know, that I was not alone, both in my pain and in my desperate search for help.
I slumped, leaned over against her, felt her warmth.
Gods, what did I do to deserve her?
"Thank you, Marcella...", I whispered, then finally dared to look at her face. "Thank you... I love you..."
In her arms, I felt, that I could heal.

AURORA
"Thank you very much as well Miss, says the young Henry with a large smile, for taking your time to explain your faith to us in detail. If I may say, you are a great story teller.
-Although we would gladly stay more, continues Patricia, his mother, we still have many things to see today, so we'll depart. But don't worry, we'll be back soon. That's one of the perks of working at the Embassy Island. Goodbye Miss.
-Goodbye, says Daniel as well, before the small family of three depart the temple.
-So, what do we do now? asks the Ambassador to his wife and son as he looks to the clouds gathering in the sky. There's not much time left before the rain hits, so what do you say we get back to the Kitan and get ourselves a private bath?
-i'm all for it, replies his wife.
-Me too! exclaims his son with enthusiasm.
-Then it's settled! says Daniel, before the three of them resume their walk. Once they arrive at the Kitan, they go to the front desk.
-Good evening Miss, we would like to know if there is a private bath cabin available for three?" asks the Ambassador with a smile.

ANIMALPOLIS

"Don't worry, if someone tries to mess with us, he won't go far in his action, replies Patricia as she and Catherine puts their hands behind their backs at waist level, and take out their Colt M1911 pistols, before showing them to Kiri. A Hollow Point 45 caliber is sometimes the best answer, adds the brown haired woman, before both of them put back their pistols in their back undershirt hoslters.
-Joke aside Sheriff, continues Catherine, would you mind telling us more about your job here? What it is like, what do you have to handle, that sort of thing?"

Cartoonia wrote:“Yeah!

"Well, maybe or maybe not, I'll have to feign ignorance at much of the greater world. We're from a fairly small out of the way village on Animalpolis but we do our best to understand things. But I'm glad you're visiting, where are you from?"

Himiko giggled a little with glee, "Yes sir, I did, most of them anyway. There's a few by some other local artists I agree to display and sell for them. But most of them are mine. Anything in particular catching your eye? Maybe you'd like to commission a painting from me? If I can't finish before the end of the Festival I'll ship it to you."

"Oh dear." Midori said with sympathy "A shame you don't have enough. you must understand the rates we charge are to ensure our health and safety here so alas I must deny you a night with any of the lovely ladies. But no need to go completely empty handed we can put on a little dance for you for the amount you have on you."

Nu Alaska wrote:"She seems nice," Ren commented about Madokami.

"Yes, they are beautiful aren't they? Life here really is about ebb and flow with the weather and the tides. Anyway, Kiri Mori, A pleasure to meet you and your family. All very common names around here as well, you'd folks would fit right in. Your mother is the Kitsune woman, yes? I think I saw her enter with you. Oh and yes many yurei posses the ability to disguise themselves. Some are mischievous but still friendly, others just look to blend in and yes sadly there are those who mean harm. But I can tell you are a friendly spirit. We welcome spirits to pass through here between planes of existance, even those who might not be as kind but few seem to bother the guests. We make sure the grounds are charmed to protect against wicked forces of The Witches."

The small bark did surprise me a little bit - we knew Spiorad and they rarely gave in to their more basic instincts like that. Still, it was cute...
"Indeed, we came by sea.", Fara confirmed, "I own a small yacht, the Nasim, that means breeze. She's mainly sail-propelled, but she has auxilliary diesel engines. I must admit, that I'm no Aurelia, I am more of a swimmer then a sailor, but getting from Kyrenaia to here by swimming is a bit difficult..."

Ava Shabh.
Outside the Kitan.
I smiled, safer in the knowledge, that Pina had both experience with being questioned and didn't take it too hard. I knew, that it got on the nerves of some people after a while.
And yes, for how long would have been my first question.
"How do you cope with it?", I asked carefully, "I mean, there are so many things, which you will, literally, never see and never experience and... I could never imagine a world, where I can't experience the sun rise or set or see my beloved smile..."
I knew, that this was a very hefty question, but... maybe I did not overstep my bounds.

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Port Aurora, cabin of the Harira.

Tsubaki

"ohoho I can imagine that would be difficult to try to swim the entire ocean! So best stick with the vessels that carry us across. Glad to see others from the Great Sultanate also have a love for the seas. I think we all know about The Princess Aurelia, it's no wonder she's a perfect match for our Duchess! And it's also little surprise why our nations have become such good friends. But swimming is fun!"

"Yes, I'd agree with that." Noir added. "Do you compete?"

Outside the Kitan

"That's true...." She gave it some thought for a moment "I guess being born without sight I don't know what it's like. But people who explain it to me is interesting to me. I'll admit though for a long time it was hard. You know we're always behind things here probably, so disabilities has never been something everyone is good with. But my mama always tried, never gave up on me. She's always been at my side. Then just a few years ago when I was 10 a foreigner came, a foreigner who could teach me now to read Braille, learn to guide myself without always needing help. Now I can! Well not that I don't ever need help. Amika is always there to help me when I do."

"And I love doing it!"

"Actually, the rain...When it rains it's almost like I can kind of see. I'm not sure how I can explain it. It's just something I feel...." she scooped a peace of ice into her mouth finishing her cup. "Well the rain I like, the thunder, I don't like." She grinned a bit bashful but might as well be honest.

"Well good thing is, when it does, Pina is one good cuddler!" Amika joked a bit taking a bite "ACCCK Brain freeze!"

"I should say serves you right." Filipinia joked

"I'm glad you have your sight, Ava. i'm glad Amika has hers. The Goddess just have their own ways of doing things sometimes. Why my vision wasn't included, but if I had sight might never have met Amika or have such a great mama!"

Aboard the Harira

Finally her eyes, it seemed Marcella got through to her. Show me your pretty eyes don't look down Marcella thought and was happy to see them. "Since we shared that kiss when we first met. I felt the same. I love you as well, Aurelia. With all my heart." she kissed her once more. It will be a long road of reocvery for Aurelia and who knows if she'd ever really be able to get over it but Marcella was going to be there for her, no matter what.

The attendant took a quick look and smiled "Why yes, you're just in time, we finished cleaning a room and it's ready for new guests. Let me get you folks in." She wrote down the booking "Now if you'll please follow me, I'll be happy to lead you."

She lead them down the hall to one of the free rooms. She opened the door that lead to the change rooms. "You can change in here. The bath is just through that other door. Towels are provided for when you need them. If you need anything, feel free to ask."

Things were way crazier then. I was still a very little girl when that was a thing so many long nights and nights with just my papa and me. Now she's retired and loving it."

Saida Adib.
Tsubaki, Animalpolis.

Fara smiled with a bit of pride: "Indeed I do!", she said, "I am even Captain of my University's Swimmer Team!" Her smile became beaming. "We are quite successful within Kyrenaia and performed well in some competitions abroad, but we have yet to really break through."
I smiled at the excitement my Lady was talking with.
"I mostly swim breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.", she added.

Ava Shabh.
Outside the Kitan.

I giggled along as Mika had her brain freeze, but in the end, I was silent, maybe for a long time.
"I doubt, that you mother would not be a great woman if you had your eyesight, Pina.", I said afterwards, "Sure, it would have shown itself in a different way, but at the end of the day, she would still be a great woman. I would love to meet her." I let a beat pass, glanced at my watch. "With that being said, I'm afraid, that I must depart your company. I have a date to prepare for!"
It might not (yet) be a romantic date, but I wanted to make it a good time for Ren!

Princess Aurelia bint-Damir.
Port Aurora, cabin of the Harira.

It took all my willpower to not take Marcella as my own here and then, to not ravage her on the cabin floor or within my small sleeping spot, but in the end, we only shared a kiss.
There was a bit of tongue involved.
It had clicked with us, back in the Hammam, and it was still clicking. I would not want to miss that clicking.
As our lips finally separated, I looked into her eyes and found nothing but love, nothing but sweet, tender love and I knew, once more, with whom I wanted to grow old - and why I was fighting for the change in the Marriage Law.
I pecked her on the lips once more and then whispered to her: "I think, that the tea is about ready..."

AURORA
"Thank you very much, replies Daniel to the desk attendant, before his family and him follow her to the change rooms.
Once they are there, the three of them thank once again the attenndant, before changind and stepping in the bath, naked as the day they were born.
-Phew, that's really good, says Henry as he submerges to let the water reach just below his nose. I'm glad you were assigned here dad
-So am I son, so am I, replies thr Ambassador to his son with a smile as he closes his eyes and just enjoys the moment, his wife snuggling next to him.

ANIMALPOLIS
"Well, seeing as how we are responsible for protecting our country's monarch, being prepared is something you learn from day one, replies Patricia with a small chuckle, confirmed by an affirmative bark from Gopnik, who wags his tail as well. We understand that your mother had her hands full after the war, we know what it's like, given the fact we were in a similar situation just 15 years ago. It takes time for things to get back to a semblance of normality, says the brown-haired Lieutenant Colonel with a small sigh as she looks to the ground.
-At least it's good to know the locals you protect are not that troublesome, continues Catherine with a happier tone. Now, before coming here, we did some research in books and such, and we found out that around a decade ago, something strange happened around here. Apparently, some rumors have been talking about a man who was fleeing something, who appeared here one day, only to dissapear again a short time after. Is it true?"
By referring to the raid that was conducted by their friend Ophelia like it was a urban legend, and asking it like she was a total stranger to it, Catherine wanted to hear if the operation was still in the local minds.
