The Empire is set in a cold climate, like Russia, so I guess they will tend to look that way? The details I can provide for now is that the Cheristi would definitely have light skin, and probably a lot in common with Russians, or anyone with climates similar to it

So basically the empire has a bit of a Japanese-sounding thing going on, with the ruling family have more loosely European inspired fantasy-esque names (Arrindor, Maurikael, etc), and the climate is more Russian?
Just curious how much is more Russian and how much is East Asian-inspired.

It's mostly East Asian inspired. Tbh this Rp is a personal story project I've been working on for some time, and I tend to hop on Google translate or random fantasy name generators and take a name.

I compared the climate to Russia because it's probably the easiest to explain. The winters can get very cold, which is why the Kamuri are such excellent Ice Mages. The culture is inspired by China/Japan, and so is the government. The lore for the ruling family is that they are distantly related to the neighboring Erimous Confederacy, which leans more towards Europe anyway.

If you're ever wondering, you can just assume it's always based on China, with an outside influence here and there. Did this help? I notice I'm not good at answering questions sometimes

Alright. I just want to see how much more explanations I need. The OP is super long and I still feel like a lot of stuff is unexplained. IC will be up today.

Hey friends, seems like a fun setting!

Application:

Character Name: Han Kamuri
Appearance:TBD
House:Kamuri
Gender:M
Age:25
Personality: The Kamuri reflect the Great Southern Mountains where they call home. Severe, focused on survival, and just a little bit unapproachable. Han shares some of these traits, but growing up outside the harsh spotlight of the heir means that he has fewer walls than most. Focused on duty and his ambition, Han cares most about his intention to join the Machi Yin, and his brother Kailin. More approachable than many of his family, he is still very self-serious when it comes to his duty.
Mage Type (Mage, Sensor, Esoteric, Medic, Archmage, Dark Mage?): Mage, Limited Sensor
Magic/Abilities (if any):
Ice Magic Mastery: As a member of House Kamuri, Han has been trained since a young age to master ice magic in as many forms as possible. This includes techniques such as summoning blades of ice, creating ice storms, and freezing surfaces.
Water Magic Proficiency: While not nearly as skilled in the related art of water magic, Han can use water techniques to a limited degree. These techniques do not come naturally to Han, as the Kamuri view water magic as merely a stepping stone to superior ice magic.
Wind magic Ability: Han's father was a skilled wind magic practitioner, and has passed some of his abilities on to his son. However, Han uses these abilities almost exclusively to enhance his ice or water magic, and is untrained in their more practical uses.
Sensory Magic, Limited: As a member of the Imperial Affairs department with aspirations to the Machi Yin, Han has some practice in the short range sensing of magic auras, however this is limited to close range and only living people, not objects.
Limitations:
Ice Magic: While powerful Han is a powerful practitioner, he lacks the elegance for more finer control. For example, while he may be able to freeze all liquid in a radius around his body, he would have to concentrate to limit the effect to a single glass of water.
Water Magic: Reverse of his abilities with ice, Han is able to produce finer control with pure, liquid water. However, his skills are only intermediate, and he would be outclassed by a water archmage.
Wind Magic: While having some ability, Han has little skill with pure wind magic. His abilities are limited to support for his ice and water spells, for example the creation of storms.
Sensor Magic: In his personal ambition to become a member of the Machi Yin, Han has some knowledge of sensory techniques. He is limited in both distance (within sight) and type of auras (magical, living beings) he can sense.
Faction (does your character belong to a faction? Where does your character’s loyalties lie?): Imperial Affairs, House Kamuri.
Biography: The Kamuri family of Azukana is as harsh and as unforgiving as the mountains near their ancestral home. Being born into their ranks is both a privilege and a burden, depending on one's talents. Han himself was born as the second son to the main branch of the Kamuri family. While his elder brother, Kailin, is seen to be the future head of the family, Han was oft-overlooked by his teachers other members of the family. His maternal grandmother, however, noticed Han's talent when he accidentally froze a mountain stream as a young child after falling. With her support, Han's abilities and confidence grew, though he lacked the resources and attention to increase his abilities in other types of elemental magic.

Kailin and Han, though growing up in different environments and with different expectations, were still close. Han knew that his brother was destined for an important part in the empire, and wished to support Kailin as best he can. As a young boy, Han's grandmother would tell him stories of the Machi Yin, the bodyguards of the Emperor and viziers of the empire. Han then dedicated his focus to becoming a member of the Machi Yin, a long road but one that he has given himself fully to. As such, when he came of age, Han joined the Imperial Affairs Ministry, working with his brother as one of his bodyguards under a Machi Yin commander.

Han followed Kailin to Ryobei, but the recent assassination of the Empire has thrown the Kamuri into chaos. Some members of the family see this as an opportunity, while others are loyal to the Mayato. Han himself has little interest in the political games of the empire, but his brother has been more aloof than usual in recent weeks. The Machi Yin are sworn to protect the emperor, and Han is a proud member of House Kamuri, but these destinies may come into conflict soon.

Additional Information:Fitting a martial member of the Imperial Affairs Ministry, Han is typically dressed in a trim uniform, closer to military dress. He wears a silver pin of the Kamuri crest on his chest.

Character Name: Prince Arrindor Mayato
Appearance:
Image

House: Mayato Dynasty
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Personality: Arrindor is very calculating and perceptive. He doesn't care for being emperor, but he would enjoy the thrill of taking the throne just for fun. He completely disregards his other siblings and anyone else that won't further his goals.
Mage Type (Mage, Sensor, Esoteric, Medic, Archmage, Dark Mage?): Esoteric
Magic/Abilities (if any):
Water+Ice Magic: Arrindor was trained by the Kamuri in Ice Magic, eventually becoming an expert in the field. The constant rain in the capital, along with the many rivers that are scattered across the Empire allow for a lot of practice. His skill is of course, not as great the Kamuri, but he can create Ice using his own Aura. He can freeze surfaces and people. And naturally, he is also skilled with Water Magic. He has ventured out to the Kasaran Sea to see if he can tame the waters there, with mixed results. His understanding of Ice and Water Magic is among the best in the Empire, as he stopped the perpetual rain in the capital for a day when he was bored.

Kono Giorno Giovanna Tian Gazo; Transumation: Roughly translating to "Celestial Alteration", Arrindor's signature ability is his power to change the state of objects, and some limited change over living beings. He can temporarily add life to an object if he has enough Essence to use, although his preferred method is simply changing the appearance one object to another. For example, Arrindor recently used Tian Gazo to turn a poisonous pill into a piece of chocolate. By giving up 1/4 of his Aura to the Goddess Chyron, Arrindor can endow life into an object. He can turn a piece of paper into a small dove, where he can see through the dove's eyes and view things from a distance.

Limitations: Tian Gazo requires regular visits to the northern Yuko Taisha Temples, where Arrindor must loan his Aura to the gods in exchange for his Transmutation. The ability to breathe life into non living object will always require 1/4 of his Essence at any time, and depending on how complicated the living thing is, the less time he has to use it. Due to this, Arrindor focuses on using smaller amounts of Essence on object transmutation. However, changing the properties of an object requires extensive knowledge of whatever is it he wants to make. He also cannot use his Aura to create objects, only change existing ones.

Ice and Water Magic are susceptible to being put out/heated by Fire.
Faction (does your character belong to a faction? Where does your character’s loyalties lie?): Himself. He has a lot of influence over the Kosen Machi due to being the oldest son of the late Emperor
Biography: Arrindor Mayato was born in 498, during the most recent golden age of Salyan history. He is the oldest of three, and despite his expectations, he spent his years studying nature and people more than Magic, or at least that's how it appeared. Arrindor was always deceptive and manipulating, and he would disappear for days at a time while leaving cryptic hints for his whereabouts. When Arrindor was 8, the Emperor Viseri had a Sensor accompany him everywhere, and that's when he learned of the existence of Abstraction Magic. Arrindor's Sensor was a monk who had recently given up his status as a teacher, but he still taught Arrindor everything he knew. At this time, Arrindor's two other siblings were born, and while they grew up learning conventional magic, Arrindor would spend months at the Pazendai Mountains, learning of the Salyan Pantheon, before finally creating his Tian Gazo ability in 513. The next 12 years would see Arrindor perfecting his craft, while the Emperor made calls for a transition to a democracy. Arrindor, who wasn't interested in politics, decided to take the opportunity to see how far he can push the Kosen Machi. While he still doesn't have much interest in obtaining the throne, Arrindor likes drama and chaos, and will always side with whomever benefits him at that time, and who can provide him the most entertainment.
Additional Information:

Character Name: Maurikael Cheristi
Appearance:
House: Outside branch of the Cheristi family
Gender: Male
Age: 55
Personality: Manipulating, cunning, thinker.
Mage Type (Mage, Sensor, Esoteric, Medic, Archmage, Dark Mage?): Archmage
Magic/Abilities (if any):
Water, Earth, and Fire Magic: During Maurikael's time as a soldier, and later a general, he made sure he mastered the Salyan's affinity for Water Magic. His control over the element is precise and refined through decades of practice, and it's his favourite to use. He can use Ice Magic to some degree, but his main prowess is with the liquid form. The border wars the Salyans fought also resulted in Maurikael learning Earth Magic to counter the Allegrodo's Fire, and Fire Magic to counter the Erimous' Sand Magic. By learning the ways those two groups used their elemental magic, Maurikael incorporated it into his own fighting style. He can shape the ground around him easily, and can cause minor earthquakes and use rock for defense and offense. His fire is not as good as his Earth or Water, but he can still create flames that are about average in terms of power.
Limitations:
Faction (does your character belong to a faction? Where does your character’s loyalties lie?):
Biography: Maurikael devoted his youth to the military of Sanri, before eventually rising through the ranks and becoming an esteemed general. His early years in the Imperial Academies were noteworthy, but also typical of a court noble during his time. While he was good with commanding armies, Maurikael's best traits was his ability to see a situation, and adapt to it, and sometimes even creating favorable ones. His experience in border wars with the neighboring Erimous led to him joining the Arbitration Censorate. As border wars became more and more frequent, Maurikael was forced to spend a lot of time outside the capital and near the frontlines, where he had his men gather information. The constant battles and sleepless nights led Maurikael to a wine addiction, which he managed to fight off. in 502, Maurikael was sent on a diplomatic mission to Cagia, where he met a servant of the Taulra family. They had a short affair, which resulted in the birth of his daughter, Yasina San Ai. He went through great efforts to keep this a secret, as this would have massive effects on his chances at becoming a higher ranking official. Fortunately for Maurikael, he was able to hide Yasina long enough for him to become the Grand Imperial Arbitrator in 508, which effectively made him the highest judicial figure in the land. He sent Yasina away to learn magic, while he worked with the Censorate to increase his power. Now, in the year 525, Maurikael is seeking to gain control of the seat of Emperor, calling back his daughter to use her for his goals.

Nice! I'm glad you were able to do enough with the lore to create your character. I'll add the information you put for the Kamuri into the OP. Accepted

Nice! I'm glad you were able to do enough with the lore to create your character. I'll add the information you put for the Kamuri into the OP. Accepted

Character Name: Prince Arrindor Mayato
Appearance:
Image

House: Mayato Dynasty
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Personality: Arrindor is very calculating and perceptive. He seeks to take the throne and become the Emperor at all costs.

That's what's so interesting when I'm in an rp, you never know where I'm going....i'm never center-stage, I keep the spotlight off of myself and develop in the background before I make my move.

By the way, for royalty I can assume the way to address them would be, My lord, my lady, your majesty, etc?

Your majesty or your grace are usually pretty standard. "Lord and Lady" tend to come up for "lesser" nobility, of which we should have plenty of. OP's call though!

Would Blood Magic and Shadow Magic be considered a type of Dark Magic?

Formerly Videssos. Just a femboy-obsessed degenerate. Also interested in history, mythology, fantasy, science fiction, metal and some other stuff.
A little bird told me, "Go, Go! Socialise! Talk to those fine people! And then, KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM! Plunge your knife into their throats when they ain't lookin', and then burn 'em to the ground!"
Well that's silly, isn't it?

Yes. The typical forms like those are alright.

Nea Videssos wrote:Would Blood Magic and Shadow Magic be considered a type of Dark Magic?

Blood Manipulation magic? I think it would be Dark Magic, but probably iffy depending on how it's used. I'll need more info on that and Shadow Magic to be able to make a judgement

It's finally time for the titular character herself to make an entrance along with her father. Jasmine's arrival back in the mainland should speed up the RP hopefully

Character Name:Diva Mayato
Appearance:Image
House:Mayato
Gender:Male
Age:21
Personality:Careless, reckless, always seeking pleasure in many forms, prideful, self centered.
Mage Type (Mage, Sensor, Esoteric, Medic, Archmage, Dark Mage?):Esoteric
Magic/Abilities (if any):Charm Talk:Influences people and makes them more likely to do something he asks.
Limitations:After about 15 minuets the victims of charm talk realize their folly in listening to him. He also hasn't bothered to learn any other form of magic, making him completely vulnerable to attacks by mages, unless he manages to charm talk them all out of it, but he figures no one will do that and if they do guards or someone will help him out.
Faction (does your character belong to a faction? Where does your character’s loyalties lie?):Nobody
Biography:The youngest of the three princes, and not one for politics, philosophy, academics, or anything really, Diva lives solely for his own pleasure, weather that be getting drunk, messing around with people at the palace, or sexual pleasure. He was raised by his father to be a more refined man but he never found what his father planned for him to be interesting so he turned to other forms of entertainment. He is a huge gambler, even going as far as to steal money from palace servants in order to continue his gambling. He commonly returns to the palace drunk, occasionally with someone he picked up at the bar. He is a poor planner, and lives to party. His whole life relies on the work of others, and if the empire were to turn into a democracy, he would be the first to feel it.
Additional Information:I am not doing any sex scenes, so don't worry. Supposed to be underpowered

Question, Rin is 30, and Arrindor is 27, isn't Arrindor supposed to be the eldest?

App is accpeted. And yes, Arrindor is the oldest. So if 5pb wants, Rin can get his age lowered to like 25 or something. Otherwise we can just switch the ages, so Arrindor will be 30 and Rin 27.
