What colour and kind of hat do you wear?

Postby Jim the Baptist » Sat Sep 21, 2019 6:29 am

Hats, hats and more hats. We've got broad-brimmed hats, crazy hats, top hats, alley cats, witches hats and more.
What kind of hat do you wear and what colour is it? What kind of hats do you like but not necessarily wear? Feel free to add any additional information, such as how you might wear your hat or if you have a different hat depending on the day/weather/season.
I wear a blue Barcelona hat everyday but if it's particularly sunny I will wear a sun visor for power walking.
Did someone say Mexican hats?

I am getting ready to go to the airport now, and I will be wearing my boater hat because it's easy to take on and off at security if I need to and they won't be suspicious I am hiding things in there because it's shallow.

The only hats I wear are half a dozen in number and were alluded to earlier by Edward de Bono.

I love hats. In the winter, I wear an ushanka. When I'm driving, I'll wear a brown flat cap. When I'm traveling, I'll wear my baseball cap entirely covered in buttons.

Generally, I don't wear hats. It may seem strange, but I do collect them when I travel and some have a story for how I acquired them beyond "went to souvenir shop and put down 3000 Dinar for it". For example, I got my Fez from a souq stall in Rabat after being grabbed and dragged there by the owner and given mint tea and a cigarette. He tried to charge me just for the privilege of being dragged to the shop and given the "gift" of a Fez, and not wanting to seem rude or ungrateful since this was my first week there, I gave him some cash (much less than he was asking and pretended not to have my bank card with me). I wasn't totally naive about scams there but this was a bit unexpected. I'm hoping to add a Vietnamese farmer's hat to the collection soon
Wait an hour, and it will be now again

I don't really like hats but I'm bald so I have a small collection of navy blue baseball caps for sunny days.

The vast majority of the time, I can't wear hats indoors- besides that is bad manners.

For outdoor work, I broadly speaking: wear a similar sort of hat as Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat, only the brim isn't as stiff as a board, its desert tan. I try to have the widest brim possible (without it being rediculous or impractical) to keep the most sunlight away from my head and face because of my vitiligo. Any albino skin I have doesn't get burned if it is shaded enough or covered.

I find that owning a lot of hats is pretty dumb, because you really only wear one or two of them, and the rest collect dust.

I wear a gray felt fedora to work in winter and a panama in summer. The rest of the time is a wide variety of baseball caps.

I used to have a cowboy hat that was incredibly useful for fancy dress parties, but then someone nicked it on a dancefloor and I never got it back.

Think I've still got a karakul hat knocking around somewhere but I haven't worn it in years.

Generally not at all, but sometimes might don a red baseball cap for political events (Trump ruined that look but it's got a fun apolitical slogan) and a beanie in cold winter days.

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

We are - that's why we only wear hats on three occassions:

-Sporting events
-Boating
-Golfing

And it's almost always the dad cap.
