Marksville was a rural town in the Western portion of the state of Wisconsin known for its vibrant farming community, its farmers were renowned for their milk, poultry, beef, corn, other crops and live stock. However it was now the target of an insidious eminent domain program devoted to the propagation of a new vibrant emergent technology.

It was a normal day in the life of local farmer Jim Robertson had been farmer all his life inheriting his farm from his dad who got it from his grandad and would one day belong to his kid, he was milking his cows preparing fresh batches of milk, carrying the buckets over to a fridge he quickly noticed something a black SUV had pulled up to his propety. He quickly walked over to see who the SUV belonged to and quickly noticed it was a Government tag, the man revealed a badge for some alphabet soup agency and quickly informed the man that a large part of his land was being taken for eminent domain. "Mr. Robertson, we are going to take some of your land for our new 5G network." an arguement ensued and Robertson realized he could do nothing about the enroachment on his land.

A month later the 5G tower had been built and his cows were starting to exhibit tumors, caused by cancer. Jim's son quickly did research on his computer finding out that 5G causes cancer. The farmer greatly angered began a defiant protest and set up a flag pole close to the Tower, waving a gadesen flag that boldy proclaimed 'Don't Tread On Me!' this was in violation of Government property with the state ordering Jim to remove the flag or be prosecuted for vandalism. Jim refused and began monkey wrenching the 5G tower, placing dynamite on it and destroying it, in other areas of the town where 5G was being developed protestors arrived in mass to support farmer Jims right to his land and to protest against 5G which was they beleived was giving local animals cancer and had the potential to give humans cancer. They began monkey wrenching the 5G towers with explosives in a pro-human rebellion.

A week went by and the situation quickly attracted a big tent following that went beyond the political spectrum and certain former Professor from the University of Texas Thomas J. Kerensky quickly took to action in support of the farmer. Thomas J. Kerensky was controviersal figure he was what many described as a neo-luddite, a social conservative and an agrarian. He was profoundly opposed to much of emergent technoligies which he claimed would give the controlling elite power to enslave the public. He beleived that the only way to avoid such enslavement was revolution against the technological system but armed cadres of Neo-Luddites. The Socialist Equality Party had risen from obscurity to become the dominant political party in the United States in the blink of an eye. They had co-opted the Democratic Party, delivering victories on the local and state level using a motivated and highly organized grassroots machine, then slowly purging the party of centrists and liberals who lacked sufficient commitment to leftist thought. They had succeeded in winning the 2016 election by overwhelming the Republicans with a massive voter turnout operation. The political concerns of rural voters like Jim Robertson meant nothing when the SEP could bring the weight of the cities to bear. Once installed in the Oval Office with secure majorities in the House and Senate, they had used that urban voting bloc to force through two schemes: packing the Supreme Court to drown out the voices of conservative judges, and abolishing the Electoral College to further disempower the Republican Party’s base. President Jerry White could sit in the White House and feel secure that a second term was guaranteed, and maybe even a third or fourth term if he wanted it.

As part of their agenda for publicly-owned infrastructure expansion, the federal government had used the eminent domain laws to force farmers to give up land for 5G towers across the nation. Most people had no objections to this program, since it made high-speed data available across almost all of the country. This was combined with government programs that had forced companies like Apple to offer phones at lower prices – which simply encouraged them to make the phones as cheaply as possible. The average person in Milwaukee or Madison didn’t care if some farmers got sick if it meant that they could access government-provided cellular data to stream movies or upload pictures to Instagram. The farmers who complained were dismissed as reactionary and backwards idiots stuck in the past and unwilling to adapt to the future.

The news out of the Marksville area was concerning. The government could not allow Jim Robertson and Thomas Kerensky to become focal points for a rural uprising against the government. The domestic surveillance programs were pervasive, gathering terabytes of data on every thought the Americans people put onto social media of any kind, but there wasn’t yet enough support for the kinds of political repression that the SEP knew would be necessary.

“This hick cannot be allowed to block the march of progress,” President White announced. “Get me the Governor of Wisconsin. Niles, I want you to get out there and respond to this redneck.” Vice-President Niles Niemuth was from Wisconsin, and it was hoped he could rally the rest of the state to reject the words of “Farmer Jim.”

The Vice-President called an emergency press conference on the White House lawn. All the major news networks were present – CNN and MSNBC had fallen in line, while FOX News had been dismantled through aggressive and biased enforcement of various telecommunications laws. The news media realized their best interests were to toe the SEP line and they dutifully acted as propagandists for the administration in exchange for continued access and privileges.

The Vice-President walked to the podium and began speaking.

“We’ve all seen the disturbing statement released by Jim Robertson. First of all, I am ashamed that citizens of my own home state of Wisconsin, a state with a long and proud progressive tradition, would use such foul and offensive language in public. I also am saddened to hear a fellow Wisconsinite profess belief in such bogus science. There is no scientific evidence that 5G networks cause cancer. Mister Robertson is repeating debunked talking points of talk radio hosts who make money by stoking fear of the unknown among the ignorant. That being said, Mister Robertson appears to align in his views with the President on many issues, such as concern for the environment and a desire to avoid dangerous concentrations of wealth. However, his declaration of secession is completely illegitimate and unlawful. I call on Mister Robertson to stand down and avoid any actions which might endanger his life or the lives of any others. We are open to hearing Mister Robertson’s concerns at a peaceful forum, but this government will not tolerate attacks on federal property.”

The Brigade has seen multiple tours of duty in the Middle East. The Brigade commander says that many of the men are tired, their morale is low, there are gaps where men were killed or wounded. And sir…” The Governor paused, nervous about the other problem. “Sir, the Guard might not obey orders to suppress the insurgents. Most of the officers are reliable, but the rank-and-file might not feel like shooting at other Americans, especially not fellow Wisconsinites.”

“If these country vandals see that we’re strong, they will back down. It won’t come to any sort of actual fighting,” the President replied. “We just need a show of force and then they’ll go back to ranting and raving on talk radio. They think we’re weak like the Democrats and unwilling to stand up to bullying, but this administration is different.”

COW CANCER CAUSES REBELLION Article part of The Islander's biweekly 'Only the Outsiders!' series. IN MARKSVILLE, the installation of a new kind of very complicated technology has allegedly caused cows to develop cancerous tumours, and this may have started a rebellion. Only the outsiders! Located in a place called Wisconsin in the United States of America, a new kind of technology known as 'Five Gee' was recently installed near the settlement. Five Gee is, according to The Islander's research, a new kind of technology that allows the delivery of information between portable, hand-held telephones without the use of cables - instead the information is sent by via invisible rays from large transmitter towers. This is broadly similar to how wireless radios work, a technology with which some Shalottes may be familiar, but it is apparently much faster, more powerful, and more flexible. It can, for instance, send photographs and even moving pictures from one portable device to another faster than the blink of an eye, through a global network known as the Internet. Five Gee replaces a similar, earlier technology known as Four Gee, which has been widely adopted by outsiders all over the world for many years now, and which in turn replaced an earlier, widely-adopted technology called Three Gee. Some outsiders are concerned that the invisible rays used by Five Gee might be dangerous to people, however, and similar concerns surrounded each of the earlier incarnations of the technology too. While outside scientists have yet to say for sure if there are any negative long-term health effects or not, many people aren't willing to wait to find out, and protests tend to accompany the installation of Five Gee transmitters wherever they may happen to go up. Certainly Jim Robertson, better known as 'Farmer Jim', believes that Five Gee is dangerous. He has claimed that less than one month after the installation of a Five Gee transmitter tower near his farm, his cattle developed cancerous tumours, and he has specifically blamed this on the transmitter. Since his acts of civil disobedience, Farmer Jim has further escalated the situation, and has now issued his government with a profanity-laden, 11-point list of demands. Point three, curiously, isn't a demand, but simply a statement that reads "we are tired of all these damn leftists teaching evolution, fags and trannies and other bullshit [sic] in our schools". As is usually the way for outsiders, people on both sides are now getting ready to kill each other over the issue, and foreigners with no stakes in the situation are variously declaring either support or condemnation for one side or the other. Shogun Koubuin was quite... Well... She disagreed with it to say the least. The fourth she also disagreed with, the fifth was fine, the sixth was of course understandable, seventh as well, eighth... Well that would need some research, 9th was understandable, atleast in the frame of looking at the situation from the perspective of a citizen of the US, the 10th and 11th were also understandable but she disagreed with the latter.

Sitting in her office, Shogun Koubuin looked over the ongoing developments when an idea came to mind. Instead of the usual path, Japan, had quite a large amount of territory gained from it's victory in the Asia-Pacific War, more than enough territory for the Empire, she could surely spare some for some disillusioned farmers and all should they decide to leave the US, if not then surely the Imperial Army could spare arms to send to the farmers, eitherway it would be more so of a win for Japan. Of course a message would have to be sent to explain the Japanese stance on the matter, a message which would take several hours to prepare..

Five hours passed and the message was finished then signed off on by the Shogun herself. Just in time too. Baron/General Ryuunosuke Saionji knocked on the doors to the office of the Shogun and he was allowed in by Vassal Retainer Mana Tsukuyomi.

The standoff caught the attention of Allen Bochart from West Virginia and was the former sheriff of his county. It also reaffirms the importance of giving more authority to the local governments in countries as big as the United States. All Kawanese citizens currently residing in, or vising Wisconsin are requested by the government to leave Wisconsin at the earliest time possible.

Regarding the demands of the protesters, the government agrees with the 1st demand, which is giving importance to basic universal human rights and freedoms. Regarding the 2nd demand, we sadly cannot sympathize with the protesters, however, we believe that an agreement regarding that issue can be reached between the gun-owning lobbies and the US Government. President Jerry White and his cabinet watched the statements from Professor Kerensky and the “American Constitutional Army.” The statements had been picked up by the media, which even now couldn’t stay away from a good story like this. Most of the talking heads toed the party line and dismissed the militants as ignorant and dangerous fools. The prevailing theory was that they would continue to bluster until confronted with actual consequences, and then they would back down and make a deal that kept them from ending up dead or in prison.

“Sir, the Wisconsin National Guard is beginning to move out,” the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff announced. “There was some difficulty – apparently some vehicles had not been properly maintained and broke down or wouldn’t start – but the Brigade is beginning to cordon off the area around Marksville.”

“Thank you, General,” President White replied. “Make sure the commander remembers that he is not to fire unless fired upon. For now.”

“Sir, we also need to start working on our international response,” the Secretary of State spoke up. “We’re drawing a lot of international attention over this. More than usual.”

The pair of Humvees, still painted in their desert-pattern camouflage, rolled up to the exit off the interstate close to Marksville in the pre-dawn hours of the morning. There were almost no other cars on the highway, and none were trying to get off the interstate at that particular exit. The National Guardsmen were there to make sure that wouldn’t be possible. They unrolled a bundle of concertina wire across the exit, bookended by the two Humvees and their roof-mounted fifty-caliber machine guns. The NG troops carried their weapons slung, with magazines inserted by no rounds chambered. Their orders were to refrain from deadly force until the last possible moment without compromising their safety or the integrity of the blockade.

All across western Wisconsin, the National Guard and state police troopers were closing off access to the region where Farmer Jim and his compatriots had declared their “state of secession.” No one would be permitted to enter without official authorization, and no one would be permitted to leave without demonstrating beyond any doubt that they were totally unaffiliated with the militants. The Socialist Democratic Republic of Argentina was not very aware of international conflicts, the country was emerging from a financial bankruptcy and was slowly recovering from neoliberal policies and the interference of Occidental powers in national politics, however, President Dutsher was aware of what was happening in Wisconsin since the events had attracted the presence of many countries of varying degrees of importance. President Dutsher faced a dilemma; "What to do in these situations?", Militarily threatening foreign countries was not an option since the state of the argentine armed forces was deplorable and an unnecessary provocation could generate an unnecessary diplomatic conflict, but Dutsher was determined to issue some kind of statement to position Argentina in a diplomatic "third side" to decompress the polarization of the conflict.

In addition, President Dutsher wanted to continue maintaining her image of "morally correct politician" by acting according to her ideals and demonstrating that it is possible to intervene in an international conflict without the need to resort to physical or verbal violence and without the need to directly influence a government. For obvious reasons, President Dutsher decided to postpone her official statement a couple of hours to prepare psychologically before addressing everyone, picked up her hair several times, reread all the reports that the argentine government had available about the Wisconsin conflict, she readed the public statements of other nations and even took time to read her private novels who passionate her. Thoughts crossed her mind, such as "Is it worth helping those who have made us suffer for so long?", "What should I say about Asians so as not to damage our relationships?", "Should I intervene or not?", the president hesitated a lot but never changed her mind, in that sense she had a lot of determination, once she takes a decision and considered that it was a correct decision, she complete it until the last consequences.

"Best regards to all the people who are honoring me by seeing me at this precise moment, I, the President Lodensy Dutsher, on behalf of all Argentines and on behalf of the Argentine government, I have taken the deliberate and difficult decision to clarify some points about the conflicts related to the riots of Wisconsin in the United States of America. Before starting with these clarifications, advice and recommendations, this message is not intended to offend, insult or degrade the prestige of any of the nations to which I will be addressing, nor will I mention them since I do not want to point directly to those who perpetrate attitudes that our government considers "unfair" or "unethical" in regard to common sense and the progress of humanity and peace.

In the first instance, the private property of each citizen must be respected if it has been obtained legitimately or if the constitution of the United States of America protects the owner of certain property from the usurpation of the US government. Both public and private property should be respected by both the government and all citizens of the country and in the case of committing damage to the private property of a US citizen, the least that the government of the United States of America can do is assign an proportional economic compensation to the damage caused to the property of the affected citizen.

In the second instance, internal disturbances and local conflicts in the United States of America are matters whose responsibility belongs to the United States of America, not to foreign countries. Throughout history many governments that have been considered authoritarian, evil or genocidal were overthrown and the consequences of those overthrows were (in most cases) worse, practically the remedy was worse than the disease. I am not cataloging the government of the United States of America as authoritarian, evil or genocidal but I am aware that several world leaders see the United States of America in this way and I want to remind you that intervening in the internal affairs of a foreign country will only bring diplomatic conflicts and will jeopardize the stability of peace.

In the third instance, armed combat is something that should be used as a last resort and I trust that the government of the United States of America will know how to solve this problem in the most constitutionally correct way and preventing bloodshed in its own people, the American sovereignty must be respected as the sovereignty of the countries that threaten it. All leaders must remember that a sovereign country has the right to govern its territory and lead its people to prosperity and peace, no country has the right to threaten the sovereignty of another country, this is a symbol of imperialism and the imperialism has no ideology. It can be capitalist, it can be communist, it can be of any ideology.

In the fourth instance, I propose to all nations that try to relate directly to this conflict that try to change their way of intervening or renounce their intervention, to threat the government of a country or try to influence it directly is not an acceptable solution and could generate a armed conflict over a relatively unimportant issue internationally.

In the fifth instance, the Socialist Democratic Republic of Argentina declares itself in favor that the US government offers a peaceful solution and economic compensation to those US citizens who have been affected by the riots in Wisconsin, we also declare ourselves in favor of this matter be resolved by the US government and we recognize that the government of the United States of America is the only authority competent and legitimate enough to resolve this conflict.

This statement is not intended to declare Argentina in favor or against a country, in favor or against an ideology, this statement is intended to make North Americans and leaders of foreign nations reflect on the procedure You must perform in this type of conflict. Our nations for years have supported and stood by one another, however with this being said we find the direction the nation has delved into is a dark and tyrannical one in contradiction of its strong and proud history. There have been clear and undeniable violations of the civil liberties, and there are legitimate concerns that must be addressed, however we urge dialogue between the conflicting parties.

Our nation's links to the American people are integral to our relations from the Confederate exiles to the investors and settlers who sought our land as a second United States in the North America's continental neighbor in the south, we do find it reasonable to have concern. Our policy towards the American people has always been one of support and brotherly love, we will continue to allow Americans to live and migrate to our country, and we caution our citizens visiting the United States of America not to get involved in the crisis and to stay away from potentially dangerous areas.
