When was your nation founded?: There can be multiple dates which can be considered the founding date for Aikoland. Traditionally, it is considered to be 510, the first year of the reign of Queen Aiko, who is our country's namesake. However, there exists no historical evidence for her existence and the years for her reign come from Le Livre d'Aiko, a late 11th century text. Alternative dates for Aikoland's founding include 1303, when the Kingdom of Aiko unified with the Kingdom of Boullién and the Kingdom of Saun in personal union under Queen Marianne II and 1719, when the Kingdom of Aiko, the Kingdom of Boullién, and the Kingdom of Saun were incorporated into the Kingdom of Aikoland under King Christian III.

What wars has your nation fought in, if any?: Due to our nation's small size and population we have historically avoided war, although we did declare war on Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy in 1939 as part of the Allied powers during WW2. Unfortunately, much like our neighbours to the north (France), we were invaded and fell to the Axis in 1940 and were governed as part of the Vichy France regime until our nation was fully liberated following the final defeat of the Axis in 1945.

- Queen Marianne II: Became Queen of Boullién and Queen of Saun in addition to Queen of Aiko in 1303, forming the personal union that would ultimately lead to the complete unification of the three states over four centuries later.
- King Christian III: Incorporated the three states he was monarch of into the Kingdom of Aikoland in 1719
- Queen Marie IV: Reformed the government and worked with a coalition of nobility and commoners to establish the first constitution of Aikoland, which went into force in 1794 alongside the first Aikolandais legislature, the United Assembly, in a successful attempt to prevent the French Revolution from spreading to Aikoland.
- Emperor Thomas II: Worked towards the third constitution, which went into force in 1834, which established the modern bicameral Parliament and the office of Prime Minister. How many people did your nation start out with? (You don't have to go off of what it said on your home page): Recordkeeping from that era was almost non-existent. Estimates suggest around 10 - 20 thousand people lived in what is now Shalotte as of 109 A.D.

What wars has your nation fought in, if any?: None. Prior to the formation of the Royal Isles, a series of wars between the major clans of Shalotte (and minor clans taking up arms alongside them) were fought periodically over a period between 800 B.C. and 100 A.D. No wars have occurred since then.

Name some of your nation's notable leaders from the past and what they did: Shalotte has few notable leaders, both because little of note happens there, and because historical studies are often limited among the general public. Braé IV, however, was notable for both being the longest-serving Domnaeni in recorded Shalotte history, and for reigning during a brief attempt at modernisation in the 1960s. Her daughter and successor, Ffeysis III, also presided over another period of unprecedented modernisation, particularly when Alauna and two other major settlements received dedicated electricity grids for the first time in the 1990s.

The first Domnaeni, Saéscha, is also reasonably notable in Shalotte history, simply for being the first.

Has your nation gone by another name in the past?: No. Before the Royal Isles was formed, the archipelago was referred to in exclusively geographical terms, not political. Clans, rather than nations, were the de facto political forces in the years before 109.

What sports are popular in your nation?: A game called laethar aéni is popular with some Shalottes. A small playing field is set up on a reasonably flat area, with mounds of rocks and dirt stacked up at either end, sufficiently tall to require someone to climb to reach the top. Each mound has a small hole cut into its 'peak'. Two teams are formed, usually consisting of five people, and equipped with short sticks with nets on one end. Each team must then try to carry a small leather ball to the opposite end of the pitch, climb the mound, and successfully 'shove' the ball into the hole at the top in one clean, quick motion, with the other team trying to stop them. Laethar aéni is thought to have originated from a game played by children, meant to teach them the skills necessary to become fowlers as adults. The sticks are somewhat reminiscent of the fowling rods used in that profession, a profession that involves climbing along cliffs and capturing sea birds.

Most of their efforts over the last few years have been aimed at promoting the economy, but that is mostly because there have been no environmental issues for them to address.

Was your nation previously part of another nation?: Ceranapis was a disputed region between the United States and the United Kingdom called the Oregon Territory, as well as home to many native peoples, before independence.

If so, what was did your particular region mean to your previous nation? (i.e. capital city, coal mining state, etc): Ceranapis was the homeland for many native people and viewed as a possible but largely unsettled colony between the Americans and British.

Did your nation fight to gain its independence?: No. The nation was created by treaty between the United States and the UK, promising them equal economic access to the entirety of the territory. This compromise became the Republic of Ceranapis.

Was your nation founded for religious purposes?: De Jure, no, but Mormonism was an incredibly powerful factor in the creation of the Republic. Neither the Americans nor the British had the strength to muscle out the Mormons, who settled the Oregon Territory with the intent of creating a Mormon homeland. But, neither the Americans nor the British wanted a Theocratic Mormon Republic on their doorstep, and thus demanded separation of the Mormon church and state, believing this course of action to be both morally correct and better for each country's commercial interests. While the de jure, the Republic is and has always been secular, de facto, the Mormon church has played a large role in politics from the creation of the Republic, and without the Mormon migration, most historians agree that Ceranapis would today be a part of the United States or Canada.

We believe strongly in our protecting our natural environment, but also are very much a free-market capitalist society. We believe that economic growth empowers, rather than detracts, from environmental protection. Our environmental laws reflect this- we have high carbon taxes, cap and trade on many other industrial pollutants, and institute a land tax to encourage dense, environmentally friendly development. Yet, we also impose no corporate taxes, and impose a light regulatory touch whenever possible. Our belief is the best way to protect the environment and fight global warming is to encourage the development of green technologies that the rest of the world can use to de-carbonize their economies, and doing so necessitates strong economic performance.

From 1789 to 1792, after the storming of the Bastille, a bloody civil was fought between the Kingdom of France (now Arthropol), and the French Republic (now France). During the war, the Royalists initially pushed the Republicans towards the north to open up better connections with allies Austria and Prussia. However, soon after, the Republicans, with the help of allies, pushed the Royalists and allies out of Paris and down towards the south, with a stalemate occuring at what is now the border between the two nations. This war ended on 20 September 1792, with a formal treaty ending the war on 22 September 1792.
