Welcome Sportsmen and Sportswomen of the NationStates Multiverse to the NS Futsal World Cup I, hosted by The Democracy of HUElavia. This tournament is the first one with the Official Futsal World Cup title, being a continuation of the Futsal Invitational Cup (also known as NS Futsal World Cup 0).

Country Information: HUElavia is a nation that is known for its abundance of Civil and Political Freedoms; having one of the kindest, intelligent and cultured civilians in the NS multiverse; being one of the most environmentally-friendly and sustainable countries, one of the strongest economic powerhouses, and both developed and scientifically advanced countries in the NS multiverse. Due to these advances, HUElavia will have no problem receiving teams and supporters from different universes and can make accommodations easily. Despite having a 99.0% tax rate, the teams, fans, and citizens of the host cities will pay only a 9% tax on all purchases as long as they show their travel ticket (and/or match ticket) and passport. The official languages are Portuguese, Spanish, and English, with citizens usually able to speak all 3. Our culture (cuisine included) is mainly a mix of Portuguese, Spanish, and Latin American, but there are influences from Eastern Europe and East Asia.

Tournament Format: The tournament will be contested by 19 teams in 4 groups, with 3 groups hosting 5 teams and 1 group hosting 4 teams. The Top 3 Teams will advance, with the Group Winners going directly to the Quarter-Finals, while the 2nd and 3rd Place teams will play in a "Wild-Card." The Winners of this round would then be drawn against a random group winner for the Quarter-Finals and the tournament will proceed from there. 8 Arenas in 7 Cities will host the matches.

After a battery of questions about Sarzonia's woeful offense against Aldaveria during its 1-0 defeat to open the Futsal World Cup, Stars manager Cole Hanley walked away from the podium and ruefully shook his head.

Sarzonia was stymied from the opening kickoff as Aldaveria limited the Stars to four shots, with only one testing young goalkeeper Michael Twinkle. Meanwhile, Aldaveria peppered Peter Lockley with seven shots in goal out of 14 total shots taken. Lockley made six saves, with two of them described by fans as "breathtaking."

Meanwhile, a chip by Robert Frock in an effort to find an onrushing Christopher Gale was higher than Frock wanted it, and it saw the youthful Frock grimace at his mishit. However, that grimace turned into a wide-eyed beaming smile when the ball eluded Lockley and found its way into the back of the netting in the 24th minute of play.

Hanley, normally a study in calm demeanour and patience, let out an audible, "fuck!" before he quickly regained composure. However, that brief outburst seemed to demoralise the Stars, who halfheartedly tried to build an attack after the soft goal that Lockley admitted after the match, "I wanted that shot back." When the final whistle sounded, Hanley spent a few extra minutes in the dressing room with his team trying to reassure them that they still had a chance to do something in this competition.

"We're not dead yet. It's only one match," he told his charges. We're human. We make mistakes," he said, before pointing to his momentary loss of discipline. "Like my saying, 'fuck' after the goal. That was my mistake. I'm sorry, Peter. I'm sorry everyone. Let's pick it back up and get back out there."

As an assistant for many years, Hanley didn't quite have the experience of being the person who set the tone for a team, but he knew somehow that he set the wrong tone for his team with his outburst. The only question that remained for him as he lied awake in bed ruminating over the discouraging loss was, would that lapse in judgment cost him and his team?

HUElavia had a historical Matchday 1, where they inaugurated the NS Futsal WC I, as well as hosting their first ever major tournament. HUElavia, being the reigning champion, opened up against Islas Tualua in Arena Nacional in Curumba. It was at full capacity, with the presence of President Ruben Fernandez-Casillas watching the match in the VIP section.

When the match kicked off, it took only 7 seconds for the first goal to go in, as superstar Asensio scored the opening goal with a solo run and a vicious low shot past the Tualuan goalkeeper to make it 1-0, with the arena rumbling from the cheers and jumping of the fans. Five minutes later, Baquero sent in a cross from a corner that met with the head of Camacho to make it 2-0. Right before the end of the half, a blistering shot from Sedano made it 3-0.

The 2nd half came, and HUElavia picked up from the half, with substitute Ortiz scoring from a tricky play that was started with Popov and Zuffo passing among each other, before passing to Ortiz to make it 4-0. Asensio once again bagged another, from a corner by Britos that went low and met the left foot of Asensio to make it 5-0, his 2nd of the match. Sorokin made it 6-0, after dribbling past 2 players and did a cheeky chip over the goalie to add his name on the score-sheet. With 7 seconds left, Asensio got his hat-trick, scoring a low shot past the goalie, ending the game at 7-0.

HUElavia began strong and look to continue, having a "bye" for Matchday 2, but will play against Islas Aaland in Matchday 3 in Palacio de los Reyes, in Curumba as well.

Lisander national futsal team will represent the country in international competitions, starting the first edition of the Futsal Invitational Cup.

In Lisander, futsal players are mostly part-timers, and those who want to live only from sport need to play in more than a team in different divisions, such as the goalkeeper Victor Valls, who plays in the US Fossoyeurs of the National League, and two teams from the lower divisions (Despina Juniors and Liath Futsal). Despite the chaos and mass demisssions in the Lisander Football Federation, caused by the surprisingly fail in signing up to World Cup 83, the FLF Futsal Director, Bruno Thule, was reappointed to his position, to manage the team in this event.

Meagre relation from HUEsilia, Maximillian Stevens

After narrow, although important victory against Sarzonia, the "Eagle Sons" have no time to rest. Today, in HUEsilia, our futsal team will face the second group opponent, Joshenia.

"We have to prove, that our first victory was not a beginner's luck - said our coach, Terry Leonard - "Match against Joshenia will be a real challenge. They played really well against Lisander and showed us a piece of good futsal."

Our Coach also referred to the curious goal from yesterday match, when Sarzonian goalkeeper, Peter Lockley, commited a terrible mistake after the cross attempt of Robert Frock.

"Let's be honest, Stars doesn't deserved to lose the goal like that. I was trying to cheer up Peter before the match. Excluding that situation, his saves were fantastic. I think Sarzonia can still mess up in this tournament." - said Leonard.

A victory against Joshenia will assure our advance to Wild-card Round, but "Eagle Sons" have a larger ambitions.

"Maybe a championship in our situation is some kind of a dream, but...how our world would like without a dreams? - said the Aldaverian captain, Zachary Smith, during a warm-up in Banco de HUElavia Arena.

It seems apparent that Sarzonia will not have a high powered offence in the first Futsal World Cup. They didn't score after a feeble showing on offence against Aldaveria. They only managed a goal from a fortunate bounce off the crossbar and into the net from offensively minded atlas Hans Gretner.

This time, that was enough. Despite being dominated by the Lisander offence and the defence peppering Sarzonia goalkeeper Peter Lockley with 18 shots, 14 on goal, he was equal to the task, stopping all shots and notching a vital 1-0 win.

The Stars (1-0-1, 3 points) currently sit third in the Group D table, level on points and goal differential, but trailing in gials scored. Winless Joshenia are up next for the Stars.

"We certainly aren't making things easy for ourselves," manager Cole Hanley said. "Give Lockley credit. He really battled in goal and gave us a chance. We scored against the run of play, but I'm happy we got the three points. "

Gretner admitted after the match that he didn't get the shot he wanted, but he was relieved when it got past Victor Valls in the 33rd minute.

"The ball went off the side of my foot," Gretner said. "Nine times out of 10 I shoot the ball a lot better than that. But, hey, it went in and we got the win."

Aldaveria defeated Joshenia 4-2 in the other Group D match. Hanley warned the assembled media that Joshenia would be treated "like a wounded animal."

"They will be playing with urgency," Hanley said. "They're 0-2. They're struggling with goal differential and they desperately need a win. We desperately need to play better."

Hanley didn't need to say why. His team has been dominated thoroughly in all phases of the game by both opponents."

Lockley said the extra days off would be a relief to a team that had little time to gel before the tournament.

"We need the break in games to get our timing right in all phases. We can't keep getting dominated like we have been in each of our first two matches."

Aldsport.ad
From Sao Salvador, Maximillian Stevens

No one could have imagined a better start of the Futsal World Cup for Aldaveria. "Eagle Sons" earned their second win in Futsal World Cup, performing a incredible comeback against Joshenia.

The first half was a nightmare for our team. Sixteen seconds after the first whistle Michael Twinkle had been forced to capitulate after swift action ended by Stephanie Gerste. This goal plunged our team in chaos and disorganisation. The offensive was even worse. Aldaveria ended the first half with only four shots(only one on target!). Our misery has been punished in 9th minute, when Sabine Werfel suprised Twinkle by long-distance long shot.

No one knows, what kind of persuasion Terry Leonard used during the half-time, but "Eagle Sons" entered the second half in the best way possible. In 22nd minute Robert Frock intercepted the raunchy pass by Martin Jerg and placed the ball in the upper left corner, giving no chance to Michelle Klein. Five minutes later the young striker once again showed his class, when he passed through experienced Martina Wagner and striked technically on left corner, giving our team an equalizer. Joshenia tried to regain initiative, but these efforts caused a third goal. Or i should say: GOLAZO! In 34th minute quick pass action between Frock and Daniel Wincks left our super-sub, Lothar Anderson in the one-to-one situation with Michelle Klein. Young hedgehog passed the diving goalkeeperess using "Rainbow Flick" and ball entered the goal with the applause of the fans gathered in Banco de HUElavia Arena. Last goal was a quintessence of our perfect second half. Twenty seconds before the last siren, Joshenia tried to equalize with an action 5 vs 4 and withdrawed goalkepperess. Zachary Smith stealed a ball and unthinkingly lobbed the ball to empty goal assuring our victory.

After this match we know only one thing. Aldaveria's will play a fourth match in this tournament. The question is: in the Wild-Card Round or directly in quarterfinals? The answer will be known after the final siren of our last group match against Lisander.

Joshenia-Aldaveria 2:4
(Gerste 1'; Werfel 9' - Frock 22',27'; Anderson 34'; Smith 40')

It took until the third match before the Sarzonian national futsal team finally managed to look cohesive offensively. Passes that were tentative in the first two matches were now sharp and accurate against Joshenia.

The Stars won the possession battle for the first time in the first Futsal World Cup, holding the ball for 21:44 of match time. They got the first hat trick in Stars futsal history from pivot Nelson Archibald. They won the shot battle, firing 16 shots with 11 on goal to 12 shots and nine on goal for Joshenia.

The trouble was, goalkeeper Peter Lockley was not sharp. Manager Cole Hanley benched him after giving up a particularly egregious goal in the 13th minute, putting the Stars in a 4-1 hole. However, Archibald led the comeback and scored his third goal with 1.1 seconds left to secure the 6-6 draw and a place in the wild card round.

Sarzonia's next opponent? That's anyone's guess. The Group C table is notoriously and obnoxiously bunched up and the second place team has yet to be determined.

That didn't matter to Hanley, who announced in his opening statement to the press that Lockley would start after reserve keeper Brock Johansson played the rest of the match against Joshenia.

"There's a reason Peter is the starter, " Hanley said. He'll benefit from the rest but he's our bloke."

As for Sarzonia's chances to do damage starting with their wild card round fixture, atlas Hans Gretner took heart in a team from Sarzonia's distant footballing past.

"When Sarzonia participated in the inaugural Dragonnii Inviyatti, they struggled to get out of the group stage with the same record we have now," he said. "They ended up winning the championship."

It's too early to harbour championship dreams for a team that finally scored more than one goal for the first time against hapless Joshenia, whom the Stars sent home with their draw. But they were determined to not be cannon fodder for the teams they would face in the knockout rounds.

"Wipe out the tables now," Johansson said. "Everyone's 0-0 again."

Ouna 2-2 Bolgano
In the debut of Bolgano against Ouna, an important match was expected as it is a very strong team and one of those who qualified for the Quarter Finals.

In the beginning of the match, the team could not do much with goals from Ouna at minute 6 and then at minute 12 both of the ball stopped.

Coach: What's wrong with you, you are not the same when you played in the Invitational!

Lodarst: Of course, our fault your tactics does not serve a S...!!!

Coach: Shut up, you don't take this team to a S...!!!

Dortman: SILENCE!!! They calm down or if the mockery will not be worse before them.

Then the team understands the situation but they managed to calm down and play the game as in the Invitational few months ago.

Dallen and Lodarst managed to score goals with incredible plays and tie the game although at the last minute a hand inside the area did have Ouna's victory in hand, but Dortman managed to tackle the penalty and tie even.

Monglechabagd 3-4 Bolgano
In the entire history of the Futsal World Cup, it is the first time that 2 teams have faced each other twice, the last time it was the victory of the Monglechabagd team, it is also the first time that 2 puppets play a game together with Islas Tualua and Aaland

Bolgano hit first with a goal in minute 5 and then Mongle tied already in minute 7, then Monglechabagd in minute 23 and 29 placed the score 3-1.

A team scared already at the break thought a strategy, already in the second half, Bolgano manages to make a goal 34 and 42 minutes to be 3-3, the goal of the victory was in the 57 to 3 minutes of finishing the match.

Coach: Proud but not happy, our 4 points were made in the final minutes we must improve this.

Lodarst: Of course, we should not be so afraid of the following, Hyundai-Kia and Velstrania

Diurtan: That you speak, they have cars, they are dangerous.

Berton: LOL gave me such a laugh * sarcastically * you better get serious since tomorrow we have games.

HUElavia played their 2nd match of the Futsal World Cup I, hosting Islas Aaland, the direct rival for Los Amarillos in the group, in Palacio de los Reyes, Curumba.

The game started out with Islas Aaland scoring in the 5th minute, scoring from a low strike that slid past Suarez. 10 minutes later, Asensio scored from a trick shot that started with passes from Camacho, Roux, and Baquero, before the young superstar blasted his trick in the back of the net. Right before the end of the half, in the 19th minute, Islas Aaland took the lead, scoring a vicious strike from distance.

The 2nd half was a different story, with the crowd giving more cheers and the team looking revitalized, as a whipped cross by Santos met the head of Asensio to tie the match at 2-2 after the 3rd minute of the 2nd half. Few minutes later, in the 8th minute, a few tricks performed by Asensio allowed the defense to get distracted, as he volleyed a shot at the net, which caught the goalkeeper off-guard, making it 3-2. Right in the final 30 seconds of the game, a counter attack goal allowed Ortiz to score the final goal, ending the match at 4-2.

With the win, goal difference and head-to-head result, HUElavia reclaim 1st Place in the Group with 6 points, while Islas Aaland takes 2nd place for the time being. HUElavia face off against Leskov in Sao Salvador, where a victory can guarantee HUElavia advances to the Knockout rounds.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!
