On behalf of the International Football Federation, the Gibany Football Federation and the Piraean Football Association welcome you to the 2019 Coupe du monde! For the first time in the contest's history, it is being hosted by two nations. Throughout the duration of the games, matches will take place in both Gibany and Piraea. Through coordination with national and regional governments, transportation for teams, fans, and the press will be made seamless. The next few weeks will see one national team emerge victorious.

CALDIA’S MEN FULL OF BELIEF AND HOPING FOR SURGE AT THIS YEAR’S COUPE

Caldia's men's team has been preparing for months in the lead up to the Coupe du monde, hoping for a strong performance.

KISSAMOS – With the 2019 IFF Coupe du monde approaching, the Caldish men’s team has high hopes for their performance during the contest.

Despite their limited profile domestically, where they are dwarfed by the popularity of the women’s league, players and managers alike hope that the next chapter of football’s biggest competition is theirs to win.

The road to victory begins on Saturday in Kissamos. Caldia is set to play Nuvania, the first of the group stages.

The team’s head coach, Faolán Ó Seoigh, suspects his Devil’s in Purple have a real shot to advance through the group stages and onto the round of sixteen, which are set to begin on 5 October.

“I would say we have a lot of hope going into these [group] matches” Ó Seoigh said at a press event along side senior coaching staff and players.

Caldia is set to compete with Amathia, Nuvania, and Xiaodong in order to advance.

“We remain confident in our abilities, but do not mistake that for arrogance or naïveté“.

The team is optimistic following the addition of several new players to the team, a new deputy coach, and the return of captain Aodhán Ó Loingsigh.

Ó Loingsigh, a thirty-three year old center forward, has been with the team for almost a decade and served as their captain during the 2018 Invictus Games held in Spálgleann. Despite failing to make it to the final stages, the team performed much better than usual. His leadership in recent matches and friendlies have also boosted hope.

It was rumored he was looking to retire after Spálgleann’s games. However, Caldia’s popular captain is set to lead his team once again.

“We have something strong to build on, and we are ready to do just that” he said.

New players to the team include twenty-four year old center-back Muirís Ó Fearghail, twenty-three year old mid-fielder Tadhg Ó Conail, and twenty-six year old center-forward Yahli Benayoun. All three are part of the team's starting eleven. There are also a number of new substitutes.

Benayoun is new-comer to the team and the Caldish domestic league. A new aquisition for P.C. An Seanbhaile, he recently relocated to Caldia following a changing political landscape in Tsabara - part of a larger trend in sport and society at large. For his performance during the recent season of the All-Ghaillish Football League, Benayoun has become a rising star. However, this has come with negative attention alongside accolades. He has been subject to racist and Atudophobic abuse from supporters of rival teams, causing outcry within the league.

The men are joined by Bríd Ní Cheallaighe who will serve as part of their coaching staff. She is one of the few women to have ever coached a men’s national team and the second to coach a men’s team during the Coupe.

She was the deputy for Síle Ní Ríain, head coach for the women’s team, during the 2018 Spálgleann games where the women clinched the gold medal, besting Senria.

“Her expertise will go a long way, we are absolutely thrilled for her to join us” Ó Seoigh said of his new deputy.

The team is already in Piraea, where they will play their first few matches. If they advance, they will get to play in nearby Gibany, which is a co-host for the Coupe.

As the world gathers in Gibany and Piraea Cassier's men's soccer team braces for the first round of the Coupe du monde.
In a press conference head coach Alex Bousquet announced that the team was "well rested, prepared, and ready to go for the first round of play". Though most have their doubts of how successful the team will be in the Coupe du monde with one fan jokingly stating that Cassier's team "should probably keep to skates and sticks", most Cassiens questioned in our recent poll remain cautiously optimistic. Several thousand Cassiens are expected to be present at the opener this Friday and many more are likely to tune in to what is expected to be one of the most widely viewed broadcasts in Cassier in 2019.

I want you to score plenty of goals, and to defeat the Yocatullics. Entering Gibany and Piraea with a poker face, some speculated that the veteran manager Hakon was unconfident about his team. Nothing could be more from the truth. Hakon gives to DÖ a lengthy and informative interview, with more excitement than normal, very uncharacteristic of the typically stoic and quiet coach. He believes his team, with its discipline, talent, and unity, will triumph and carry on "a tradition of excellence."

The Jaguars have landed in the Piraean capital Alikianos ahead of the start of the 2019 IFF Coupe du Monde held in Gibany and Piraea.

The team spent the better part of 48 hours getting from Pietersburg to the Piraean capital with a six hour layover in Gatôn, Satucin, before catching their connecting flight. The team have four days in Alikianos before relocating north to Paliania where the Nuvanian team will be based.

Team manager Jan Van Biljon said that the team was in good spirits despite the long flight, and that they were eager to get into their first training session.
"Everyone's excited, everyone's ready to get going," he said. "While we appreciate, we're ready to get into training and to get going." Van Biljon said that he was excited about Nuvania's prospects in this edition of the Coupe du Monde.
"We've got a motivated team, we've learned from 2015 and we're ready to prove that we aren't the laughing stock of Asteria Inferior and that we have a lot to give."

Jaguars coach Willem van de Walt said that many of the players had not played in a tournament this big before and said that it would be a "big learning curve" for them. However, he remained optimistic about his choices.
"Obviously we've got a few good, experienced players in the team and they will be balanced by those who will be making their Coupe du Monde debuts, so it's a good mixture of experience and energy." van de Walt said that selection was "almost a given" for a number of players after Nuvania's surprising results in the FFAI regional tournaments and the Coupe d'Asterias.

Tiaan Meyer remains team captain after his stellar peformance during the last Coupe d'Asterias, as well as being one of only three players in the starting eleven that played during Nuvania's last Coupe du Monde appearance in 2011. The 28 year old, who was only 20 the last time he played on the world stage, says that he has a lot more experience behind him which would benefit the team greatly.
"A lot of these guys would have been in their early teens the last time I was on the field at a Coupe du Monde so it's been really good to tell them what to expect, and they take all the advice onboard." Meyer said that he hopes to move past pool play and get into the semi-finals.
"I'd like to see us get out of pool play and advance into the semi-finals or into the quarter finals. Obviously winning the cup would be amazing but we're realistic here, we can improve on previous results."

Maarten Goodman said that he was surprised to be called up given the number of younger players on the team. He said that he was nevertheless pleased with his call up to the team and to be placed in the starting eleven.
"It feels pretty good," he said. "I wasn't expecting to be here, but it's still awesome."

The youngest player in the starting eleven is 20 year old Danie Naudé, who was 12 years old the last time the Jaguars played in the Coupe du Monde, and who wasn't even alive when they first qualified, said he was overcome with excitement.
"I was at home with my mum and dad when the phone rang," he said. "At first I couldn't believe it, I thought it was a joke, like someone was messing with me, but then I recognised the voice and told my mum. She screamed and started crying. Dad cried a bit too, manly tears of course." Naudé, who is into his first year of his five year contract with Windstrand FC, says he is still adjusting to the fact that he's now a Jaguar and playing in a Coupe du Monde.
"I honestly can't believe it," he said. "It still hasn't sunk in."

Nuvania's national side made their international debut in January 1906 in Etruria, where they lost 1-0 to Etruria. They first qualified for the Coupe du Monde in 1999, and again in 2003 and 2011, but failed to make it past pool play all three times.

For this year's cup, Nuvania is placed in Group Five for pool play which sees the Jaguars taking on international football powerhouses Caldia, alongside Amathia and Xiaodong, both of which the Jaguars have seldom met before, with Nuvania having never played Amathia, and lost a pre-cup friendly against Xiaodong in 2011.

Jaguars coach Willem van de Walt said that the pool play "should provide excitement" for football fans in what is overwhelmingly a rugby oriented country.
"We're going up against teams that are much higher ranked than we are, so it's going to be interesting and exciting to see how things play out."

Will Narozalica meet the expectations of many at this year's Coupe?

For many football fans in Narozalica, tension is high following the nation's draw into Group H - what some have dubbed the tournament's toughest group. The group, filled exclusively with Euclean nations, features the likes of footballing giants Etruria, followed by other tough nations in the likes of Aimilia and Hennehouwe, with Narozalica facing the former in their first game of the tournament. Many have pipped Narozalica to win their opener, but in an interview with Narnet Sports, Narozalic captain and ethnic Zalyk Argun Khudu urged supporters to "support the team sensibly" and to "respect opponents". Football is not popular among the Zalyk populace, but Khudu, who hails from Ulan Khol in central Narozalica, has blown that stereotype out of the water, becoming one of Euclea's best midfielders and one of Narozalica's greats in the process. The 28-year-old has been involved in countless wins for his country and has amassed over a hundred caps for the team.

In his interview with Narnet, Khudu touched on topics like the mentality of the Narozalic team, which he described as "incredibly high" and "positive" following the team's convincing 6-0 win against Jindao in friendlies that intended to prepare the team for the tournament. Currently training in Piraea, the Narozalic team sees the return of Georgy Ignatyev, who was absent from the 2014 Coupe following an ACL injury he sustained two months prior. The return of Ignatyev has been hailed by many as the rectification to Narozalica's seething defensive issues that were evident in the 2014 Coupe, where the team conceded an average of 2.53 goals per game, one of the highest in the tournament. It also sees the entry of some new youngsters into the starting XI - notably central defender Kir Kravchuk, just 21 years of age, who will be partnering Ignatyev in Narozalica's back two as the anchor of the country's famous 4-3-3 formation. It also sees the entry of 22-year-old left-winger Anton Balabanov, who has netted 17 times in just 41 appearances for the national side, a ratio of 2.41 games per goal, so we can expect the youngster to score a few in this year's tournament.
