Are there any bills regulating the diamond trade?

Postby New Monmouthshire » Tue Sep 17, 2019 10:14 am

Hello fellow WA members!

I have an idea for a bill to regulate to diamond trade (or the gem trade more generally). It involves establishing common grading procedures as well as restricting conflict gems.

Are there any particular bills that might be most relevant?

There’s nothing at present. There was this, but it got repealed.
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

I can therefore assume that I am going from scratch then. I'll come up with something and post it here again when I have the time.

Welcome to the GA!

I hope you take up this project. I would, however, refocus onto a more economic focus rather than a financing focus: the latter is already dealt with by existing resolutions. It's an interesting topic though, I was just reading on the metro today an FT article about a broad fall in the mined diamond trade in the fact of competitively prices artificial diamonds.

OOC: Such discussions should belong in the ideas thread, but nonetheless, welcome! I hope you follow on with this idea.

My idea is to focus mostly on the scientific aspect actually, developing an international classification system as well as a grading procedure that is universal.

But yes, I will focus on the economic aspect as well.
