EASTFIELD LODGE - After a controversial moment in which certain members of the Eastfieldian press gave Xanneria the number one spot in the group, using goal difference when it reality it should have been head to head that determined everything. While this would have given us a matchup versus Terre Septentrionale, we get a much tiugher Eastfield Lodge. Football Association of Xanneria president Jedd Gyjorko has said "While we wish it was goal difference the e-mail we got in the invite did indicate that Head to Head was the first tiebreaker in that case, and while I'd love to say we won the group and add that to our resume, we will humbly accept this second place."

The Maroons have had one of the most powerful teams in the group scoring 5 goals twice, and a few scuffles with those scoundrels from Saintland. In fact that game may have been one of the most talked about matches, with yellow and red cards flying everywhere, Xanneria proved its depth in pulling a 5-4 win. They then pulled off a win against Ancherion with mostly depth players playing mid and defense. But after a loss to Damukuni, they had to sit and wait on New Lusitania and the Algarves to defeat Damu, a result that never took place as Damu won 1-0 and took the group.

In the end The 8-9 matchup will take place between Xanneria and Eastfield Lodge and will be the battle for best of the rest as both teams finished second in their group with 9 points. For perspective, Timura won their group with only 7 points. This matchup versus old friends Eastfield should be a fun and well attended match, as the Eastfieldians did fall in love with the Maroons during the BoF Playoff run 5 years ago.

The Tridents ends group stages with a insane draw against Dreamplanet in the Cup of Harmony

Port Ember 4 - 4 Dreamplanet

The Tridents have finished their last group match with a fast paced match and ended up with a 4-4 draw against Dreamplanet in yeserday's Cup of Harmony match in Eastfield Lodge. This result has the Tridents placed on top of Group F, and places them in a perculiar situation - all their group matches has been finalized, and is placed in a qualifying position for the knockout stages - yet they can be knocked out of the tournament depending on the results of the other contestants last matches.

This exciting match was part of the Cup of Harmony 75 Group Stages, and was the fourth match for Port Ember as part of this prestigious tournament co hosted by Eastfield Lodge where the match took place.

This match was played at the East Monksville Park; Eastfield Lodge - a 45,230 capacity stadium.

The Game - Summary

The match was a energetic and fast paced game which saw both sides swimging for the fences, with both sides throwing defence to the wind and focussing solely on launching constant and risky offences. Whilst this may not have been strategically sound for either team - the 8 total goals scored made this match a fan favourite, and has social media buzzing.

Luis Silva of Dreamplanet drew the metaphorical 'First Blood', when he placed the ball hard into the bottom corner of the net in minute 17.

Port Ember was determined to exact revenge and Steve Rogers pulled of a masterpiece cross, which Leon Moult finished in minute 24, equalising the match at 1-1.

Dreamplanet struck again in minute 32 when Aaron Hungar capitalised on a free kick-went-right, set up by Luis Silva, masterfully placing the ball - and Hungar in space, who slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net, pulling the score to 2-1; Dreamplanet's lead.

Another goal came for Port Ember when Peter Smith deflected a hard shot at goal, ending up at Aaron Hungar's feet - still within the box, who managed to finish yet again in the first half's overtime. Thus the first half ended with a 3-1 lead for Dreamplanet.

The second half commenced with clear indication that the match would not slow down - "Golden Boy" Danny Nicovic barging through the opposition's midfield, opening gaps, and managed to pull off a surgical pass to co striker Leon Moult, who managed to convert this oppertunity, bringing the score up to a 3-2 lead for Dreamplanet.

After a period of constant attacks being blocked hard on both sides of the field, until finally Port Ember managed to capitalise once more when Danny Nicovic managed to convert a corner kick with a surgical and deadly header in minute 66, now equalising the score at 3-3.

Dreamplanet struck back and launched surgical strikes time and again, and finally succeeded when Miguel Benedito managed to strike gold with a marvelous and masterpiece shot from range, catching goalie Peter Smith off guard in minute 75, placing Dreamplanet in the lead once more.

Tension started to clearly build on the field as both sides started feeling the pressure from the intense match amd things started getting slightly physical - leading to a free kick for Port Ember. This free kick was taken - and finished off by Leon Moult in minute 80 - giving this young talent his first ever hatrick - and equalising the score at 4-4.

Both sides attempted to push for yet another oppertunittly at goal but were shut down, ending this exciting match as a 4-4 draw.

The Fans

Although Port Emberian fans have become very (in)famous around the world for their massive passion and loyalty, always filing stadiums no matter where the matches are being played, this time it was different as only a few thousand Port Emberian fans were present, compared to their normal tens of thousands attendance. Those present however were their old selves - cheering loudly and supporting their team proudly. This poor attendance is contributed to the oppressive laws of the host nation.

Port Emberian Player Scores

Goalkeeper (GK)(#1): Peter Smith - 6/10. Although the scoreboard hints at a terrible day for Smith, its not truly the case. Only one goal of the 4 he let by could be blamed on him straight forward - but still he has been in better shape before and we have come to expect more from him.

Center Back (CB)(#2): Josh Richards - 6/10. Difficult to rate any of the defemders for this game honestly. He defended hard and made uncountable tackles, yet the scoreboard indicates that there was a defencive problem somewhere.

Center Back (CB)(#3): Jason Lee. 7/10. 'The Prince of the Backline' was on good form, defending very hard and stealing posession on numurous occassions. He did seem to neglect his organising duties a bit due to him being too involved in defending himself.

Full Back (LB)(#4): Alex Kuhn - 7/10. He used his physical at fit stature to dominate the attackers, so much that the opposition started to avoid his flank in total.

Full Back (RB)(#5): Russel Pierce - 7/10. Displayed excellent technical skills to shut down the constant attacks and managed to steal posession on numurous ocassions.

Attacking Midfield (AM)(#10): Ray Reddington - 8/10. The match was truly a 'Midfield Match' as most action occurred here. The captain was on great form, displaying both his excellent individual skills and organising abilities.

Defensive Midfield (DM)(#6): Steven Packard - 7/10. Was instrumental in shutting down the constant attacks and setting up counter attacks, regularly linking up well with Reddington, displaying an improved chemistry between the two.

Wide Midfield (LM)(#8): Jason Chamberlain - 6/10. Performed well in the defencive role, working hard to place presure on the opposing midfield. However he failed to capitalise on numurous gaps left by the opissition - failing to set up attacks and possible goals.

Wide Midfield (RM)(#11): Steve Rogers - 7/10. Failed to effectively to shut down attacks as he normaly does, but did manage to create a few excellent counter attacks. He did display some newfound chemistry with his strikers which led to him setting up successfull conversions.

Central Forward (CF)(#7): Leon Moult - 9/10. Normally seen as the "Secondary Striker", or as the "Setup Striker", this young man displayed talent we have not seen from him before, being the star of the show as he gathered his first ever hattick, and saved the day from defeat. Well deserved Man of the Match Award.

Central Forward (CF)(#9): Danny Nicovic 7/10. The star striker looked good and worked hard during the entire match, and once again managed to bring forth his special brand of flair which he is known for. Scored a beautifull goal.

The Tridents Qualifies To Advance To The Knockout Stages In The Cup of Harmony

Port Ember's national football team - the Tridents, has qualified to advance to the Round of 16 Knockout Stage of the Cup of Harmony Tournament.

Port Ember (World Ranking 99) started off this tournament as part of Group F for the group stages, drawn together with four other nations, namely 95X (World Ranking 33); HUElavia (World Ranking 58); Dreamplanet (World Ranking 64); and Timuria (World Ranking 85).

Port Ember played each nation once, of which they have won one match (vs 95X) and drawn all other 3 matches - making them technically undefeated in this tournament.

The team have scored 12 goals total so far, and have allowed 11 goals to be scored against them, and have ammassed a total of 6 points in the group stage.

Port Ember have finished the group stage in second place, 1 point behind their historic rivals Timuria, who have topped Group F.

Although the loyal and vocal fans have expressed their joy in the fact that Port Ember has moved on to the Round of 16, critics are not convinced that the team has the required potential to survive the round and move on to the Quarter Finals due to the teams performance in the group stages. Although Port Ember is technically undefeated, critics have mockingly dubbed the team as "Masters of the Draw" due to their inability to have won games (bar 1), and their high rate of goals allowed. The critics have argued that the other teams in the Round of 16 is looking much more convincing in their winning ability.

Critics have however congratulated the team on their overall performance, and have noted that they are indeed facing much stronger and more established teams, and is as such actually doing much better than could be expected, especially since this is only the teams second total international cup attempt.

Fans of the team have bombarded social media sites with messages of congratulations and wishes of luck for their upcoming match against Drawkland.

Port Ember will face off against Drawkland in their fith match of the Cup of Harmony, to be played at one of the designated cup stadiums of Damukuni.

This match marks the first time that these two teams will meet on the football field, and once again Port Ember is tagged as the underdogs.

Team Stats Analysis

Drawkland:

This team is ranked as the 35th best team in the world currently and has proven to be a formiddable and historic team on the international field. Like Port Ember, they partook in the last World Cup Qualifier Run, where they failed to qualify, yet performed well enough to be invited to this years Cup of Harmony. They are entering this match as the match favourites, ranking 64 spots higher on the international rankings, and ranked as #3 seed on the Round of 16 Table.

Port Ember:

This team is ranked as the 99th best team in the world currently and has proven to be a formiddable and adaptable new team on the international field. Like their opponents, they partook in the last World Cup Qualifier Run, where they failed to qualify, yet performed well enough to be invited to this years Cup of Harmony. They are ranked as #14 seed on the Round of 16 table.

From a pure statistics point of view, Drawkland is entering this match as the strong favourites. However both sides feels as if they have something to prove and will thus go out swinging for the fences.

Offense: The technical offensive skills of the team is on suberb form. The chemistry between their starting striker duo and their midfield creates amazing attacking oppertunities. Also their signature 'Bait Ambush' tactic is still a highly effective tactic, proven to be effective at this level of football.

Midfield: Traditionally the strongest component of this team, under command of the amazing Reddington. The midfield has so far always been a dangerous element to its oponents, acting as an attacking defence and sets up the front line well with attacking oppertunities.

Defence: The backline has struggled in the last few matches, but has displayed excellent form in the last match, shutting down a barrage of well planned attacks.

Goalkeeping: Analysts have nothing but praise for Peter Smith the starting goalie. The young man is a legend in the making.

Substitutes: The team has a impressive line-up of substitutes, whom have received field time recently, adding possible depth to the team when needed. The extra attention they have received from the assistant coach is sure to play a important role as well.

Team Morale & Cohesion: The 4 year youth program is paying off dividends, as the team has excellent cohesion and on-the-field chemistry.

Defence: Arguably the weakest component of this team, as they place heavy focus on their offence.

Goalkeeping: Once again, a component with talented and experienced players.

Substitutes: The team has a impressive line-up of substitutes, filled with some of the best and freshest talent hailing from Drawkland, adding possible depth to the team when needed.

Team Morale & Cohesion: The team has displayed that they are highly motivated and more than prepared to put the work in to finish the job. They also have the look of a unified, well oiled team.

Current Form: Their current form excellent and they are favourites not only for the next match, but for possibly reaching the finals. They have scored 3 wins and one draw in this cup so far, and have scored an impressive total of 13 goals.

General Remarks

Port Ember will finally face a team who is even more offence orientated, posessing much of the same strengths and weaknesses. Port Ember lacks the technical skills of their opponents, but posseses superior fitness levels. This is boding to be a entertaining yet tough match. If Port Ember wants to do something here, they will have to rely on applying constant pressure, whilst attempting to maintain a stronger than normal defence.

Erica Davies: Morning Coach. So your last match was insane - a 4-4 draw against Dreamplanet!

Stuart Baxter: Morning Erica. Thank you! It certainly was an insane game. I still so not habe any meaningfull comment on that game, neither side actually cared about our carefully laid out plans. Both of us just went batshit crazy and wanted to demolish each other. And thats basically what happened!

Erica Davies: So coach, you are going into the next match as the 'Underdogs'. How does this make you feel?

Coach Baxter: Well Erica, no different than every match we have ever played. We have ALWAYS been the underdogs.

Erica Davies: Are you worried about the next game?

Stuart Baxter: I wont say that I am worried no. Look Drawkland is a hell of a team - they have years of experience over us - and ranked 64 spots above us. But that makes me excited., it gives us a chance to prove ourselves against the greatest teams in the world, and just makes us a better team at the end of the day.

Erica Davies: So for the next game, any changes in your gameplan, based on your opponents play?

Stuart Baxter: Indeed actually. It is not a large change, rather a few improvements to our play. And we will also hammer on a few weaknesses we have noticed from the opposition.

Erica Davies: Good answer! Lastly, prediction for the upcoming match?

Stuart Baxter: I know our opponents are an excellent team, so we will be going out with guns blazing. Even if things needs to get physical, we are bringing our A Game!

Harmony is Fleeting Chapter 6:

The final whistle blew and Bekir had to do everything in his power to contain himself, always wanting to present a polite facade in public even though he wished he was out there with his players from the bench who ran onto the pitch. Walking over to shake his opposite number's hand and then going out to join his team, looking slightly awkward among the younger men who bounded and jumped for joy as he walked through patting each of them on the back. It was a mixture of delight, relief and mild trepidation at what was to come that dominated each of them as they celebrated.

He directed his players to shake the hands of their opponents and commiserate with them, he went to shake the hand of the goalscorer for Dreamplanet who put them behind, "Well played, it was a good goal." He said with an earnest smile. He began to usher his players into the locker room after they had applauded their traveling fans who would have had every reason to doubt them before the match. The team practically bounced down the tunnel as they felt the surge of endorphins and energy from their unlikely progression.

As the team filed in the players high fived, hugged, even the players who had to step out of the starting eleven, with Saban hugging Iskender as they exchanged words that were drowned out by the sheer volume of the celebrations that had already begun.

Bekir whistled, piercing the noise in the room as he often had to when the team had started to get out of hand before he could say his piece. "Guys I know you want to celebrate, but I just want you all to know that I never doubted you. Now we'll need to meet up tomorrow to see who we've got in the knockouts, but tonight get some rest and try not to have too much fun. You know since it's illegal here."

The players broke out into some light chuckling before they resumed their conversations.

Iskender checked his phone and saw the notification from Esin, "Hey, I watched that match you did great, call me when you're home x." He adopted a dumb grin before he put his phone away, just in time for Ozbek to slap him on the back far too hard, prompting a yelp, "Ozbek can you-"

"Hey man, we did it." The full back leaped onto his back and forced him into a piggy back as the team cheered as if they were watching a bull rider before Bekir noticed to commotion and shouted across the room,

"Hey! Don't get injured celebrating."

Slightly cowed by their coach, Ozbek released Iskender before returning to his area of the locker room.

The team had gathered in the manager's room in the lodgings, they barely fit as they crowded around a TV which Bekir had connected to his laptop to stream HRT, "Guys can you please shut up!" Bekir called out as they switched to the channel where the Round of 16 match ups would be announced. The team gradually fell silent as the presenting of the news began to speak.

"Following the completion of the group stages we can now reveal the seedings for the Round of Sixteen." The screen showed each team ordered by group finish, then by points with adjustments made to prevent groupmates from playing each other again, "As you can see our national team is seeded seventh. Some might consider that a little unjust given how narrowly they progressed and with how few points they achieved this."

A slightly unhappy player called out "Oh shut up you stupid cu-"

"Don't finish that sentence." Bekir scolded the unknown player loudly enough that the players had missed some of what the anchor had said.

"They will be moving to Damukuni to face Brusseldorf..." The team erupted in joy as the jumped up and down as if they had won the tournament.

Bekir and Senol exchanged confused looks before they realised the cause for their joy. "This is because of the fun ban isn't it?" He addressed the team.

Ozbek piped up, "Yes coach, does that mean we can have a bit of fun?"

Bekir looked at them confused, "Well why would you need to have that kind of fun? You guys have done well without it?" He paused and considered his next action. "Right. That's it, while we're in Damukuni, if we're lucky enough to remain in this tournament long enough for it to matter, the same rules apply. I don't want any sort of trouble, drinking, drug taking or snorting detergent, Ozbek." He glared at his player before continuing, "Am I understood."

The team grumbled, "Yes coach."

"Good. Now get some sleep we have a flight tomorrow."

CoH ROUND OF 16... END OF THE ROAD OR THE START OF IT?

Tamgu, after a being placed in a group that was near impossible for them, were seen as easy points for the more experienced sides. That turned out to not be the case, as they have progressed to the Ro16 as a wildcard of group C. This brings a question, is this the end of our run? or the start of something that's beyond our dreams?

Not only Tamgu but many other countries' pundits are discussing how far Tamgu could potentially go. The victory over Darmen is considered to be a tactical success by many, and because of that, they believe Tamgu are nothing short of the ability to win the tournament. Some bring up the defeat against Abanhfleft, and argue that Tamgu is just not experienced enough to get the consistent good results to be able to win.

There is another question to be asked here. Is Main Nation Ministry just too strong? Their near-perfect discipline-focused performance of 4 wins with the average of 2.75 goals for and 0.5 against looks scary to most Tamguna fans, and when asked about their chances to go through they mostly say they're just happy to be in the round of sixteen. (Tamgu have an average 2.25 for and 2.5 against.)

The question on Nerovod and Resak's minds is however, how in the world do we beat theese?
We here in GTFF-EK have been analyzing both teams and how we could beat them. MNM is a neutral side while Tamgu tend to attack a lot. MNM plays a 4-1-3-1-1/4-1-1-3-1/4-1-1-1-3 (i think?) depending on the occasion. They may choose to fill their midfield as Tamgu has 5 midfielders, and their style of quick passing just can't be dealt with a single centre-mid. The Hawks will struggle mostly in the attacking front, as the Ministry defense has proven its brilliance. An interesting fact is that Tamgu has won their games against sides with 3 defenders while losing against sides with 4. This might be because of Tamgu's offensive weakness or just a simple coincidence, but regarding these results Tamgu may want to slow down their usual attacking football. We think Tamgu's defense will not give many leaks against a defensive side but they have scored 11 goals, so they are nothing less of a threat in front of goal.

Possible scenarios for Tamgu victory are:
1-Ministry defense can't keep up with the Hawks, 2 goal difference win. (3-1, 4-2, 5-3...)
2-Ministry can't score against Tamgu and vice versa, Tamgu finds a free kick goal or something.
3-Tamgu score early and switch to a defensive playstyle until the game. (If we know Nerovod, than this is NOT going to happen)
4-Tamgu absolutely demolishes Ministry 5-0.

Possible scenarios for MNM victory:
1-Ministry find well constructed goal and park the bus afterwards.
2-Ministry does number two above
3-Ministry does number three above (this time it's likely to happen)
4-Ministry absolutely demolishes Tamgu 5-0.

And our final verdict on this game is...drum roll please...
We need a good defensive and offensive performance. Midfield looks like it will be controlled by us. We think the win percentages are %60 MNM %40 Us.

Rabbie Travers left eye had just been assaulted by a cold Eastfielder raindrop. His right eye was being assaulted by the mess unfolding on the practice pitch.

"Tobias! No, no, no! When the attacker goes there," Travers gestured emphatically with his free hand as he rubbed his left eye, "you go there. If you keep doing what your doing, Damot is going to run all over us."

The All Green's captain, Alberich Goldschmidt was sitting out the upcoming round of sixteen match against the Squornshelan Remnant States due to fatigue. His replacement Avidan Tobias, was eight years his junior and 150 caps less in experience. The defensive midfielder was having a tough time adjusting to playing with the first team, his previous experience at the national team level being with the reserves.

Travers assistant manager, Sabah Fuchs, restarted the training scenario. Tobias ended up in the wrong position again for the fourth time running.

Turning to Goldschmidt, who was seated next to his manager, Travers asked, "Are you sure you can't play tomorrow?"

" 'ery sure, boss," replied Goldschmidt as he downed another snack cake, his fourth of the training session.

"Maybe you'd be in better shape if you'd stop eating those damned cakes. How'd you get them past customs anyways?"

Goldschmidt unwrapped another snack cake and plopped it in his mouth. He uttered a gargled affirmative in reply.

Travers just shook his head. "Aren't you concerned about the next match? Aren't you concerned about Arlo Damot? Aren't you concerned about your pitiful replacement?" he asked.

Swallowing the last of the fifth snack cake, Goldschmidt relaxed. "No. You're taking this all too seriously. The DFA is taking this all too seriously. We are Darmen. We're not supposed to be a serious team. We're supposed to have fun. We're supposed to be free. Watch." Goldschmidt rose from his seat and moved towards the touchline. "Tobias!"

Tobias trudged over to the sideline, looking rather frustrated. Goldschmidt placed his hands on his teammate's shoulders. "Forget it. Forget it all. Just do whatever comes natural." Tobias turned and took up his position between the back line and the midfield. Fuchs blew his whistle and Víedharr Svendsen advanced with the ball, passing it to Ivan Borde. Tobias moved in the opposite direction as he was supposed to under Travers' tactical plan and caught up to Firmin in just two strides. Firmin was caught off guard and lost his rhythm, giving Tobias the opportunity to force him off the ball. Having gained possession Tobias turned up field, raced past Svendsen and unleashed a long-range shot from the half-way line. As he did, he yelled, "CROSSBAR!"

The entire team erupted in cheers at Tobias' impressive feat, crowding around him in celebration.

"See," said Goldschmidt. "If there's anything I learned from Tor Tong Lee when he was manager its this: the less coaching, the better." Goldschmidt patted his manager on the shoulder, before rushing out onto the field to join his teammates.

Travers was too stunned to respond to his captain's insubordination. All he could think of was that one day, Goldschmidt would hold the same position he currently held. It was not a thought Travers liked very much.

Cup of Harmony hosts Eastfield Lodge missed their chance to top group D having secured qualification to the Round of 16 the previous match, after an injury-hit squad crumbled in the second half to lose to a spirited Drawkland comeback.

The closely fought victory over Baptism of Fire champions Hapilopper proved to be a costly exercise for the host nation, with injuries to Eskama Nagi, Arjean Jeremiah-Dockson and Raquel Accardi, who have all been superb this tournament, along with a suspension for Faustina Cousin following accumulation of yellow cards. With Vallois Mackenzie also on the injury list after the match against New Saria, this meant that Jane Williamson was forced to name a rather makeshift team against the group’s top seeds and regular World Cup qualifiers Drawkland, with Ginton French, Sorel Qwivotic, Breta Glibin and Crimson LaRosso getting their first starts of the tournament amongst the usual starting eleven.

Nonetheless, despite the changes, the hosts started well, as the heavily offensive Drawkland side were kept at bay with some good defensive work, with Tajo Carr-Ponce especially starring with his skill in heading away crosses. The favourites did get the first major chance of the game however, and it was winger Jaxon Madison with a low shot off the foot of the near post in the early minutes after cutting inside to receive Mike Rodney’s backpass. The hosts got their first real chance on the counter, a long clearance from the back finding its way to LaRosso, who managed to beat her marker to the ball and had a clear run at goal, only for her attempted chip to be cleared off the line by Nicholas Kingston. The opening goal came a few minutes later, with Nya Murray being fouled a few yards from the corner of the box. Qwivotic then managed to curl the resulting free kick as a cross-cum-shot into the top corner at the far post, keeper Septimus Xander flapping badly and missing the ball altogether.

That goal did spice up the match a little, but Drawkland were still applying the pressure, with the hosts penned in and trying to hit out on the counter when possible. Ross Hunter nearly levelled proceedings within minutes of the opener, a diving header to divert Roger Apollo’s low cross over the bar. But it wouldn’t take long for the top seeds to draw level, as Hunter levelled the scores shortly after the half hour mark. A rare and incisive counter attack from the Drawkians saw Hunter play a give and go with Rodney, the latter then forcing a neat save from Korbin Harvey one-on-one in the Eastfielder net, only for the ball to spin up in the air and in perfect position for Hunter to nod it home. The scores weren’t level for long, as just five minutes later, Murray was on the end of another counter attack, this time beating the Drawkian offside trap to reach Qwivotic’s long raking through ball, and the Chenoworth Rovers striker had no trouble slotting it beneath the legs of Xander to restore the hosts’ lead. However, the half ended sourly for Eastfield Lodge, as Tajo Carr-Ponce was floored at a Drawkian corner as he clashed heads with Trevor Garnet in first half stoppage time, blood pouring from a cut above his eye. Thankfully, he was alright, but he never made it to the second half, being replaced at half-time by Emely Towers.

And without Carr-Ponce to provide the defence’s physicality, Drawkland ran roughshod over them. Barely four minutes had passed since the restart, and the favourites scored with the first attack of the half - Mike Rodney finding himself in acres of space outside the box and being duly picked out by the overlapping Richard Hanson, Rodney’s first time shot elegantly sailing into the top corner and out of reach of Harvey’s gloves. They picked up the pace, sensing blood and the shift of the momentum of the game, and the hosts were on the back foot, camped within their own half as they were unable to string passes together all of a sudden. Breta Glibin spurned a half-chance to retake the lead, having the ball stolen off her toe when she ran through on goal, falling guilty of taking one too many touches and allowing Kingston to recover. And she was made to regret it minutes later, as Drawkland immediately pressed home their dominance, as Hunter beat Towers in the air, winning his first proper aerial duel of the night, to head home Roger Apollo’s cross to give Drawkland the lead for the first time in the match.

Williamson began ringing the changes, first bringing out Ulima Salam for Faustina Dad, and then taking out Crimson LaRosso in favour of Charmine Berretti in attack. The changes seem to work, as the match seemed to bog down in the middle of the park. Berretti came close bringing the hosts level again shortly after she came on, but her miscued shot from the edge of the box tamely fell into Xander’s waiting arms, whilst Murray narrowly missed out on a penalty as she was fouled on the edge of the box. At the other end, Hunter was on the prowl for his hat-trick, twice hitting the post with snapshots from the edge of the box, but other than that, they struggled to make a breakthrough, up until the 83rd minute where Dominic Southers settled the match with a superbly taken free kick after Jaxon Madison was fouled by Emely Towers. Hunter finally completed the icing on the cake in stoppage time on the counter attack, picking up the ball on the halfway line and not looking back, beating Harvey one-on-one to seal his hat-trick, and the match finished 5-2.

That result meant that Drawkland would top the group, a point ahead of Eastfield Lodge in second - both sides had already secured qualification for the Round of 16 in the previous game. Following other results across the groups, it meant that Eastfield Lodge were the second best second-place team out of the 7, and in the Round of 16 would be facing the only second place team in the top 8 seeds, who also happened to win the last international tournament to be held in Eastfield Lodge - Baptism of Fire 69 champions Xanneria. Whilst the hosts will be favourites, there is still the question of whether enough of the squad will be fit enough in time for what will certainly be a tough test.

“So we’re playing Siovanija and Teusland.”

“Correct,”Johannes affirmed. “They and Tamgu were switched to avoid a group rematch.”

Main Nation Ministry had won the tiebreaker, but the fact it had not been announced beforehand had left a sour taste in the Stallions’ mouths. In retrospect, discarding results against the last-place teams was a brilliant way to break the tie and one the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association would have readily accepted if it had actually been included in the bid package. Tamgu had technically edged out Siovanija and Teusland on that same tiebreaker, but luckily the organisers had enough sense to not schedule a group rematch in the first knockout round.

Now in the lobby, preparing to leave for their first knockout match, Hal and Johannes sat in the lobby, enjoying the coffee on offer. Saltstead had never before been knocked out before the quarterfinal of a Cup of Harmony, but that was no reason to get complacent. If they couldn’t even find the stadium they were supposed to play at here, they would have no chance of making to the quarterfinals again…

“Do we even know where we’re playing our match?” Hal asked.

“No, sir.”

“Of course…”

“I think we will be playing at a place called ‘WBCC’ in West Bay,” Johannes audibly surmised, “but I cannot be entirely sure.”

“Just like everything else so far, clear as mud.”

“I’ve already alerted the Damukuni FA that we are staying in the capital, so they know we are here.”

“Well I would hope so,” Hal stated. “It was pretty well publicised that we left on the Void Ship early.”

“Three guesses how those Hinodejin pricks would’ve described it and your first two don’t count.”

“Let me guess. ‘Arrogant’, ‘arrogant’ and ‘typical AOCAF arrogance’.”

“And Hal wins our grand prize.”

“Fuck them.”

“Preferably with a rusty iron rod.”

“You’re getting a little harsh there, Johannes. We have to maintain some standards.”

As Hal finished their admonishment, Johannes’s mobile buzzed. A message from Clement—We’re going to West Bay. Get here as quickly as possible.

“Looks like we’re going to West Bay after all, Hal.”

“Good to know,” Hal said, finishing off their coffee. “Are you ready?”

“One more moment,” Johannes stated, immediately taking a drink of his coffee after he finished.

“Has Clement told everyone else?”

“Not sure, but I assume so.”

A ding in the background sounded as one of the lifts came down to ground level, spitting out a significant share of the team. Johannes, directly facing the lifts, pointed over in their direction as he noticed Catharine and Natasħa. “I think they got the message, Hal.”

“Perfect timing, if I do say so myself.”

Everyone was set. For the first time ever, the red-and-black hoops would grace the fields of Damukuni—the fifth time in five Cups of Harmony that Saltstead would take to the field for the knockout stage. Elsewhere, the group stage was a genuine challenge for the Stallions, but not in this tournament.

This time around, though, nobody on the team wanted to be here. But now that they unfortunately were, no one was in any kind of rush to leave.

“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to Damukuni,” Hal proclaimed as they entered the changing room in their trademarked red and gold suit, still intact from their days at KF Qastyr—they would once again be getting fired up, this time for the knockout stage. “Do not get too comfortable here. We will only be guaranteed to stay here for one more match. We will have to earn the next one.”

“Siovanija and Teusland will be our opposition,” Johannes stated, looking down at the data on his tablef screen. “They finished ten points behind the Holy Empire in Group H, advancing to the playoffs by beating Squornshelous on head-to-head. They beat 95X in their playoff group, but lost to Reçueçn and Abanhfleft.”

None of the Saltsteaders needed to be reminded of the playoffs, but you couldn’t summarise Siovanija and Teusland’s journey here without it.

“Their Cup of Harmony had been less stellar,” he continued “losing out to the Main Nation Ministry and Brusseldorf, but their results against Eraman and Flavovespia were sufficient to get them a wild card spot. They are technically the sixteenth seed on account of losing out to Tamgu on the same tiebreak we lost, but were sent here to avoid a repeat match.”

“They play a typical four-four-two arrangement,” Clement stated. “They will have a strong midfield axis and built-in support up front. However, they will be significantly weaker in the left and right back positions, where they will have to choose between an inexperienced youth player and aging defender with plenty of experience. Our opportunities are likely to be found out wide, so Thomas and Natasħa will be particularly important today.”

The pair nodded. No pressure at all. Totally zero.

“Losing that tiebreaker puts us in a decisively more dangerous position,” Hal stated. “We have Drawkland, Damukuni and Port Ember waiting as potential semifinalists, none of whom will be particularly simple to beat. And more immediately, we will have a date with either Timuria or Brusseldorf, neither of whom are to be underestimated.”

The room was silent. Their head coach was totally not compounding the pressure at all.

“But we can beat them all and beat whoever makes it through Eastfield Lodge,” Hal stated confidently. “We can do it and lift that trophy for once. I believe in each and every one of you. Believe in yourselves and go do the job.

“And if you should fail,” Hal asked. “fail beautifully.”

An SFRD International Football Series: Losing is simple!
Falling upwards or climbing downwards is child’s play if you are one of the Incorrigibles

New Lodger City, Eastfield Lodge — Do not panic. This will not be one of those nonsense instructional articles. The Système fédéral de radiodiffusion is not and never will be in the business of teaching people how to lose on purpose.

But now that we’ve mentioned “panic”, we suggest Incorrigibles supporters panic. Omerica have been stuck in a bit of a rut recently and dealing with this recent losing habit is the greatest priority for Anne-Sophie Groothuis in the months ahead.

Omerica’s quarterfinal exit to Saltstead at the previous Cup of Harmony was bitterly disappointing, but it paved the way for a thirteen-game unbeaten run that covered a convincing Independents Cup win and the first half of a difficult World Cup qualifying group. By the time the Incorrigibles travelled to Brigantii, they had lost just two of their previous twenty-four international matches, with both defeats coming against Saltstead of all nations.

However, defeat in the Sapphire Stadium marked a turning point in the Incorrigibles’ fortunes. A four-game winless run, where a bizarre eight-goal home draw against an otherwise awful Sherpa Empire side was the only point Omerica could collect, had put Omerica on the brink of crashing out of yet another qualifying campaign, needing to overtake Eraman to claim a place in the playoffs. The Incorrigibles managed to pull off the win they needed in Eraman, but may have wished they didn’t; pitted against Kelssek, Savojarna and Krytenia, the playoff was a winless disaster that got the first eleven summarily sent home.

Despite all this, the Incorrigibles’ KPB rating—the number which measures how strong Omerica’s performances have been over the last six years—went up marginally from 14.70 before the qualifiers to 15.36 afterward; that result was primarily thanks to Christine Salmond’s wretched qualification attempt (where she was turfed out of the managerial job halfway through the campaign, mind) phasing out of the rankings, with Omerica’s entire rating now determined from Groothuis-era results. Yet the rankings—the ordinal numbers that compare us to everyone else—tell a different story, with the Incorrigibles falling three places. This fall was primarily due to greater retention of strong international sides this World Cup cycle, but the Omerican media cranked the old outrage machine back up in the aftermath of this seeming transgression .

Optimism heading into the Cup of Harmony, however, was high after the Cup of Champions provided some intermittent relief from the misery of failure. Draws against Eura and Equestria, combined with an upset win over Kita-Hinode in Rukunbi, were enough to see the unfancied side through to the semifinals. The second-string team were able to best hosts Banija to advance to the final, but were defeated in the rematch against the Hinodejin. That result was expected, but the slender margin of defeat suggested Omerica had hope; in comparison, the Cup of Harmony should have been easy.

But once in Eastfield Lodge for the Cup of Harmony, the squad that had taken second place at the Cup of Champions looked like a completely different beast, one that had been declawed and had its vocal cords ripped out on the flight. A shock 3–2 defeat to Mareibat immediately endangered the Incorrigibles’ campaign, with Emily Michelakis making exactly zero friends among the Mareibatian team after her reckless tackle against Richard Armada got her sent off. Saint Emelie were rather easily toppled in a healthy 2–0 win, but Saltstead swatted Omerica aside for 1–0 win of their own in what was called a disappointingly low margin for one of the tournament favourites.

With the Stallions through on a perfect twelve points, Omerica had to pull together a miracle. Omerica managed to hold Freeport off in a difficult 4–2 win, which, when the results for the other groups finally came in, would have been sufficient to carry the Incorrigibles into the last sixteen as one of the two wild cards. Luckily, though, that contingency would not be necessary, as Saint Emelie despatched Mareibat by the same scoreline, allowing Omerica to narrowly take second place. Omerica had managed fall upwards into the knockout stage.

“When we’re good, we’re great,” Groothuis stated after the win against Freeport that booked Omerica’s place in the last sixteen. “When we’re bad, we’re shit. We need to get back to the place where we’re good and we need to stay there consistently. We’ve been missing that these last couple of months.”

So what does all this mean, exactly?

On the one hand, this embarrassing spell could be a reversion to the inglorious mean for the Incorrigibles. We Omericans may have possibly been punching above our weight and we are due to crash back down any moment now; it’s not a matter of “if”, but “when”. Alternatively, this disappointment may be a bump on the road to bigger and better things. Omerica has beaten some of the best when given the chance, so it stands to reason that Abanhfleft, Darmen, the Squornshelan Remnant States and the Main Nation Ministry will find the Incorrigibles difficult to deal with and that hypothetical finals against Drawkland, Saltstead or Damukuni would be eminently winnable.

But it is safe to say that the momentum the Incorrigibles had built up since crashing out of their first-ever Cup of Harmony quarterfinal has been utterly spent. Heading into the game against Abanhfleft, the mood among supporters is less optimistic and the team who had been unfancied victors in Drawkland will once again enter the knockouts as an outside bet.

Will the Incorrigibles once again pull off a glorious upset or will they sadly live up to their name? Will this new “golden age” prove to be just as illusory as the last? Only time will tell.

The Tridents Qualifies for the Quarter Finals!

The Tridents have qualified for the Quarter Finals by defeating Drawkland with a final score of 1-0 in the Round of 16 in their last match, in what turned out to be a excitingly tough match in yeserday's Cup of Harmony match in Damukuni.

This exciting match was part of the Cup of Harmony 75 Knockout Stages - Round of 16, and was the fith match for Port Ember as part of this prestigious tournament co hosted by Eastfield Lodge and Damukuni - where the match took place.

This match was played at the South Dre Intergalactic Field, Port Flowers; Damukuni.

The Game - Summary

The match was a energetic and fast paced game which saw Drawkland's Kickcorps dominating possession for the majority of the match, launching a legion of offenses against the Tridents, which was shut down constantly in a herioc display of defencive football.

Drawkland's veteran squad managed to keep posession and deny Port Ember attacking oppertunities whilst constantly farming in Port Ember's half, trying to mine for gaps in the defence, which rarely presented itself - Port Ember's famed, albeit rare, 'Iron Wall of Defence' being fully opperational, performing tackles in almost every minute of the suspence riddle match.

The only goal of the match came in minute 78 when Drawklands exhuasted and frustrated squad attempted to launch yet another offense, but overcommitted and pushed too far upfield with the entire squad - springing Port Ember's signature 'Bait Ambush' - captain Reddington stealing posession within the box and launching it down field with a massive volley, striker Leon Moult chasing down hard, outrunning his opposition, slotting the ball hard into the bottom corner - effectively winning the match and sending his team towards the Quarter Finals.

The Fans

Although Port Emberian fans have become very (in)famous around the world for their massive passion and loyalty, always filing stadiums no matter where the matches are being played, this time it was different as only a few thousand Port Emberian fans were present, compared to their normal tens of thousands attendance. Those present however were their old selves - cheering loudly and supporting their team proudly. This poor attendance is contributed to the oppressive laws of the host nation of Eastfield Lodge.

Goalkeeper (GK)(#1): Peter Smith - 8/10. The fan favourite was on his usual marvelous form, stopping 6 of 6 shots at goal like a machine.

Center Back (CB)(#2): Josh Richards - 7/10. He defended hard and made uncountable tackles, setting up the rare 'Iron Wall of Defence' alongside his fellow defenders. Displayed true world class skills in this match.

Center Back (CB)(#3): Jason Lee. 9/10. 'The Prince of the Backline' was on good form, defending very hard and stealing posession on numurous occassions. He excelled in his organising duties, rallyimg his backline into a solid unbreakable line of defence, known by the media as the 'Iron Wall of Defence'. The solid defence displayed surely won the match for Port Ember, making him well deserved for his Man of the Match Award.

Full Back (LB)(#4): Alex Kuhn - 7/10. He used his physical at fit stature to dominate the attackers, so much that the opposition started to avoid his flank in total.

Full Back (RB)(#5): Russel Pierce - 7/10. Displayed excellent technical skills to shut down the constant attacks and managed to steal posession on numurous ocassions.

Attacking Midfield (AM)(#10): Ray Reddington - 8/10. The captain was on great form, displaying both his excellent individual skills and organising abilities.

Defensive Midfield (DM)(#6): Steven Packard - 7/10. Was instrumental in shutting down the constant attacks and setting up counter attacks, regularly linking up well with Reddington, displaying an improved chemistry between the two.

Wide Midfield (LM)(#8): Jason Chamberlain - 6/10. Performed well in the defencive role, working hard to place presure on the opposing midfield. However he failed to capitalise on numurous gaps left by the opissition - failing to set up attacks and possible goals.

Wide Midfield (RM)(#11): Steve Rogers - 7/10. Had a quite day as the oposition seemed to avoid the right flank, but did punish them well when they did venture into his territory.

Central Forward (CF)(#7): Leon Moult - 8/10. Scored the only goal for the day and managed to maintain serious pressure on the opposition.

Central Forward (CF)(#9): Danny Nicovic 7/10. The star striker looked good and worked hard during the entire match, and once again managed to bring forth his special brand of flair which he is known for.

Port Ember's national football team - the Tridents, has qualified to advance to the Quarter Finals, due to besting Drawkland in the Round of 16 Knockout Stage of the Cup of Harmony Tournament.

Important to note is that the Cup location has now shifted the Tridents out of Eastfield Lodge, and into the nation of Damukuri.

Port Emberian fans have become famous for traveling in massive numbers to support their team, however this was not the case whilst the team played in Eastfield Lodge, due to that nations highly opressive laws, and the Port Emberian fans refused to travel there in protest.

But now that the team has left that nation, Port Emberian fans have come alive to support their team in full force once more - with travel agencies reporting that over 10 000 plane tickets have been sold to fly to Damukuni.

The Port Emberian football team has expressed their joy and gratitude towards these large numbers of fans traveling to support them, and have promised to put up a good show to make it worth their while.

Port Ember will face off against hosts Damukuni in their sixth match of the Cup of Harmony, to be played at the WBCC, West Bay, WB stadium in Damukuni as part of the tournament's Quarter Final stage.

This match marks the first time that these two teams will meet on the football field, and once again Port Ember is tagged as the underdogs.

Team Stats Analysis

Damukuni:

This team is ranked as the 39th best team in the world currently and has proven to be a formiddable and historic team on the international field. Like Port Ember, they partook in the last World Cup Qualifier Run, where they failed to qualify, yet performed well enough to be invited to this years Cup of Harmony. They are entering this match as the match favourites, ranking 60 spots higher on the international rankings. They will also enjoy the homeground advantage, as they are the tournament hosts.

Port Ember:

This team is ranked as the 99th best team in the world currently and has proven to be a formiddable and adaptable new team on the international field. Like their opponents, they partook in the last World Cup Qualifier Run, where they failed to qualify, yet performed well enough to be invited to this years Cup of Harmony.

From a pure statistics point of view, Damukuni is entering this match as the strong favourites. However both sides feels as if they have something to prove and will thus go out swinging for the fences.

Stuart Baxter: Morning Erica. It surely does feel good! It was a hell of a match and our lads pulled through, taking on giants and slaying them. But this does not change our outlook - we remain humble and focussed. There is still tons of hard work and dedication needed if we wish to progress further in this cup.

Erica Davies: So coach, you are going into the next match as the 'Underdogs'. How does this make you feel?

Coach Baxter: Well Erica, no different than every match we have ever played. We have ALWAYS been the underdogs.

Erica Davies: Are you worried about the next game?

Stuart Baxter: I wont say that I am worried no. Look Damukuni is a hell of a team - they have years of experience over us - and ranked 60 spots above us, with the added homeground advantage. But that makes me excited., it gives us a chance to prove ourselves against the greatest teams in the world, and just makes us a better team at the end of the day.

Erica Davies: So for the next game, any changes in your gameplan, based on your opponents play?

Stuart Baxter: Indeed actually. It is not a large change, rather a few improvements to our play. And we will also hammer on a few weaknesses we have noticed from the opposition.

Red Wolves Fall After Tough Match

The national team have crashed out of the Cup of Harmony following an ill-tempered and low quality match against Brusseldorf that saw two teams who are usually very attacking in their outlook and potent in their finishing reduced to constant fouling.

The early exchanges between the teams were uncharacteristically ill tempered and prompted a lot of controversy in the post match analysis with both teams almost looking as if they were setting out to disrupt the others rhythm by deliberately fouling. This resulted in a several yellow cards being dealt in the first 30 minutes with Ozbek Sarikaya and Metin Boz finding their ways into the referees book. With very little in the way of quality action halftime was a relief for all.

The second half had much more in terms of quality, with much more open positive play and much less fouling. The deadlock was broken and the contest's quality began to improve with a well struck effort from Santa Dominguez. After snatching at his chances, Ismail Burhan was brought off in exchange for Vatan Ercetin after he picked up a yellow card due to catching an opposing player with his elbow. Soon after he came onto the pitch Vatan managed to perform an incredible feat of individual talent as he ran rings around the defenders on his way to a well placed finish.

Brusseldorf grabbed the win with a goal from Michael Hernández when he managed to bundle the ball over the line after Iskender Nur found himself out of position. The nation at large are pleased with the display from the national team especially given their early struggles in the tournament.

Saltstead v Brusseldorf: a match to decide the fate of the Qusma revolution
The success or failure of the Tlanx-Nulzk Hal era will come down to the result against a newly-emerging team eager to draw blood

East Town — “We are and shall be”, we know that much. The question is “what”, though.

Our national football team shall continue beyond this Cup of Harmony, but what exactly its identity will be is up in the air. Once a stalwart of karelan football, the Stallions have surrendered their proud identity for the glittering allure of results. As of writing, this trade has yet to work.

Qusma coach and KF Qastyr legend Tlanx-Nulzk Hal is at the centre of it all and brought some initial promise at AOCAF; the results were disappointing, but the team were a work in progress, to be fair. But then World Cup qualifying rolled around and things went horribly wrong. Opening with two draws to two low-ranked opponents, Saltstead's campaign for direct qualification was over pretty much as soon as it started. The Stallions bounced back and made it into the playoffs—unbeaten, to boot—claiming two victories over Eastfield Lodge and two draws over eventual group winners Baker Park in the process. But as soon as the decisive playoff match against Eura started, the wheels fell off. We would have to settle for the consolation cup yet again.

On the bright side, Saltstead once again went unbeaten in the first stage, this time claiming victory in every single game. But when the round of sixteen rolled around, the wheels fell off again. Despite having twice as many countries as everyone else, Siovanija and Teusland had not even finished in the top two of their group at this Cup of Harmony, coming in through the back door instead, yet for some time, it appeared as if they would win. Not “could”, but “would”. Saved by the whistle that called for extra time, Saltstead rallied back and made it past Siovanija and Teusland by the narrowest possible margin. Now Brusseldorf await and they will be clamouring to establish their name by taking out a tournament favourite.

Los Alrededores have made great strides in just four years of competitive international play, winning 1.67 points per game in qualification in each of the last two cycles, making it into the qualifying playoffs for this World Cup and just barely missing out on the knockout stage at the last Cup of Harmony. Despite a 3–1 loss to the Main Nation Ministry, their otherwise solid 3–0–1 record easily saw them through to the knockouts this time, where they despatched Group F winners Timuria for a place in the quarterfinals by a 2–1 margin.

Now facing their greatest challenge yet at this Cup of Harmony, their 4–2–2–2 “magic boxes” formation is well-suited for exploiting the weaknesses of their opposition. Giroud Sidi and Michael Hernández look especially dangerous from out wide and Antony Providence has proved a relatively effective shot-stopper. Against a team which has been as inconsistent and troubled as Saltstead, they may have a recipe of personnel and tactics that sends the Stallions packing for home.

This match represents an important juncture for Tlanx-Nulzk. Defeat at this stage did Jan-Peter Wiĕtdal in and it could do the Qusma revolution in as well. This time around, Saltstead has gone in expecting and elimination at the quarterfinals by an underdog would—despite Saltstead’s beloved history of taking down teams as underdogs—be disheartening to the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association and discouraging to a team that has already been stabbed in the heart once by eleven Eurans.

On the other hand, victory in the tournament could potentially establish Tlanx-Nulzk as a long-term fixture in Ashwell and entrench their revolution in Saltsteadish football. Tlanx-Nulzk would gain immortality in the eyes and hearts of the Saltsteadish faithful and their sins would be wiped clean.

No matter what, Saltstead will survive. What the national team will look like in the aftermath is the unknown, that which shall be decided shortly. ❧

MAIN NATION MINISTRY 2-0 TAMGU, WE ARE OUT.

Tamgu have been knocked out by Main Naiton Ministry in the Round of 16. This was a result many would say was fair on the performance shown in the group stages. However, this match could've gone both ways. The second goal was from a corner and the first one came from a shot outside the box, so both could've not happened. The chances Tamgu missed were frustrating to their fans, they hit the post 2 times, sent the ball to the stands on a %100 goal position and so on. The fans stayed with the players after the final whistle to cheer up the distraught Tamgu side.

Flag carrier airline and principle sponsors for the national Brusseldorfen football team, Garmillas ImperAir, today announced their foray into a new sporting field. The airline has signed a sponsorship deal for two cars in the upcoming Rally Classic tournament. The rally aims to resurrect the long-lost supercar speeds of the iconic Group B Rally era. Advancements in safety gear for drivers will allow the reintroduction of this previously-banned sporting phenomenon. Millions of Motorsport fans across Brusseldorf are happy with the deal, one reader acknowledged “The potential for big-name companies to bring more attention.” A launch party at Brusseldorf’s famous Tahat Trail saw an impressive turnout, with local media capturing the event and a row of garages set up to showcase concept liveries. Some Los Alrededores players joined in the festivities, academy player Sam Raul and an injured Teddy Wolfenden both made an appearance on behalf of the team. Teddy even got the chance to take one of the cars for a spin, telling the Locale that it was “Tremendous fun.”

“It’s been difficult missing the last two games, you definitely feel like you lose momentum. Even more importantly to me, the way I play football, I enjoy football, it’s fun to me. So it’s definitely annoying but what can I do now? *laughs* I’ll be fine but I hate missing matches.”

Los Alrededores have made it to the Semi-finals, a historic first for the team. They play hosts Damukuni tonight, in what will be Brusseldorf’s toughest match to date. The Locale got a chance to speak with Andrea Zidane, who will be Captain for the match.
“We’re just going to give it our all, leave nothing on the pitch. I know that every match now is a fight to the death, but we are all adamant that the beautiful football does not leave just because of that. At the end of the day for me, and for the lass’ y lads, it’s about the quality of the football, not necessarily the amount of goals scored, or the points on the leaderboard. I know that Damukuni will be rearing for a competition, so it’s looking to be an exciting match. And hopefully, I’ll speak to you again as I head to the finals!”

The Falconbarrow Sessions finds a “paucity of substantive evidence” to prosecute under the Electronic Equipment Misuse Act

Falconbarrow, Strathavon — A magistrate has ordered the release of three men without charge after finding insufficient evidence to proceed with a prosecution under the federal Electronic Equipment Misuse Act.

The Falconbarrow Division of the Strathavon Sessions Court ruled against issuing an indictment for trial in the Avon Court of Assizes, citing the circumstantial nature of the evidence provided by federal procurators (the prosecuting authorities of Omerica). Procurators did not need to seek an indictment, as misuse of electronic equipment is classed as a delict, which can either be tried summarily in Sessions Court or by a jury in a Court of Assizes; procurators stated that they were seeking indictment due to the “serious nature” of spreading misinformation on a “widely distributed and trusted outlet such as the Federal Broadcasting System.”

James Carston and Chelsea Bonheur were arrested at their home in Falconhurst, while Ryan Jameson was at his home in Beverly, Newcastle County.

Federal constables and procurators alleged that the trio had “ample opportunity” to commit criminal activity due to working for one of the SFRD’s member broadcasters and presented messages posted by the trio on social media stating that SFRD “deserved” to be cyber-attacked. However, procurators could not provide any evidence that the attacks originated in Strathavon or that the three had any overarching motive to commit a crime.

“Today is a victory for the people of Strathavon and Omerica,” defence barrister Michael Fabre stated after the judgement. “This was a case of overzealous constables and procurators looking to hit quotas rather than for the truth. We hope the case will be solved, but innocent people being convicted of crimes they did not convict won’t do that.”

A representative for Omerican Federal Constabulary Inspector-General Jean-Marc Fontaine stated his “deep and personal regret for the misfortune Mr Carston, Ms Bonheur and Mr Jameson have endured.” The Omerican Federal Investigation Service has issued a statement saying that it will continue to investigate the incident.

Carston, Bonheur and Jameson were released from police custody earlier this morning and have announced that they will not raise a civil complaint against the Constabulary. “The system worked as it’s supposed to,” Bonheur posted on Twii.tur. “That’s all we care about here. We just want this to be done.”

What is the Sessions Court?
Named after the historic Court of Quarter Sessions, the Sessions Courts (formally “Courts of General Sessions”) are lowest level of federal courts in Omerica. These courts conduct all summary trials—those tried without a jury—and issue indictments for jury trials in the Courts of Assize. With the exception of New Guernsey (which shares a Sessions Court with the Seafoam Islands), each republic has its own Sessions Court, with larger republics divided into multiple divisions sitting in different cities around the republic.

What kind of cases are heard in the Assizes?
At the federal level in Omerica, jury trials are held in the Courts of Assizes. Trials in the Assizes cannot be started without an indictment issued by a magistrate in Sessions Court. All trials for felonies (the most serious class of offences under Omerican law) must take place in the Assizes, whereas trials for delicts can be held in either the Sessions or Assizes depending on the severity of the offence; with limited exceptions, trials for contraventions (the lowest level of criminal offence in Omerican law) are always held in Sessions Court. ⚜️
