Wow.

Look at that, first target is perfect. Good. Great.

In other news, have a general idea on my kingdom now.

Awesome, I’d love to hear your idea! And what do you mean by target, just curious.

By target I mean someone will probably die tbh.

General idea is a Russia-like kingdom with massive land area, tundra, and whose origins are, uh...slightly religious (But possibly fictional). A lord made a contract with a Goddess of War and basically cursed his whole bloodline for physical frailty in exchange for Sword Saints (Think Warhammer 40K Living Saints minus the wings). It exceeds the Demovorn Empire in sheer landmass.

HEAVY WIP - ALL ASPECTS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE

Kingdom Application
Image

Name: Cervinjev
Climate/Geography:
Situated in the northern areas of the world, Cervinjev stands at an impressive approximate 7,000,000 sq mi, the largest in the world and trailed only by the Demovorn Empire in sheer size. For the most part it is composed of tundra, forested regions, and aside from the southernmost portions of the kingdom lacks agrarian land. Generally this manifests in a subarctic climate with long, cold winters and short, cool to mild summers. Rainfall is less than ten inches per an entire year except in the southernmost region which has a humid continental climate. This means large seasonal temperature differences, with hot and humid summers and severely cold winters. These southern areas receive all-around precipitation, leading to snowfall and altogether approximately forty inches of rainfall per year, four times that of the other regions.

With the Skuri Mountain Range to the east and the massive Kinkindi River to the west, feeding into the Sunred Sea, her southern lands are largely undefended by geography. The Skuri Mountain Range provides a vast boon to a mining industry while the Kinkindi River allows for sea-trade when ice allows for it as well as a healthy fishing industry. Various other mountain ranges mar the kingdom’s geography, creating several areas of ‘bowls’, either partial or full, with large lakes lying within. Rivers are likewise plentiful, though these rarely range larger than 1,500 sq mi in area.

In the northern portions of the nation, surrounded by several rivers, stands the capital of Cervinjev. Ilman Syytä is an ancient city, once playing host to only a small garrison and a small populace in a stone keep and surrounding village, and in those days it was able to be sustained by fishing and hunting alone. Today it stands as a center of nearly 14,200 people, smaller than many colleagues due to the overall terrain which surrounds it, and holds a walled cityscape with a central, stone castle of heavier proportions. Within the walls all houses are shingled and the roads paved as a rule, with Ilman Syytä’s connected to the kingdom through a series of likewise paved roads, uncommon for such a large city, which by extension connect the kingdom with several highways.
Known Best For?: Sword Saints
A part of the very soul and history of Cervinjev, the Sword Saint is a unique concept towards the nation. Seemingly chosen at random, anyone within the boundaries of the kingdom may receive the prophetic visions of Hukuttaa, even foreigners, and it does not discriminate by age. Any, from those of ten to those of sixty, may receive these visions. When they have, custom dictates that they leave their homes to take up the sword, whatever sword it might be. Initially these individuals hold little power, only the irresistible urge to kill for the Goddess, to fight in the name of those they should protect, and only a minor ability to foresee into the near future in combat. As they fight, however, the souls of those slain power them and they gain strength. A veteran Sword Saint is capable of ignoring otherwise fatal wounds through an almost mythical shielding effect, capable of rending the best enemy armor to mere paper, and is sometimes said to be accompanied by wolves, sacred to Hukuttaa. It doesn’t matter on the blade these wield and their styles of combat vary as much as the blade. Some prefer massive claymores while others take comfort in the dirk. What is consistent towards the Sword Saint is their powers, an ephemeral glow they themselves emit which can be as bright as a bonfire to as little as a candle and, with some training, nonexistent through concentration, and an unquestioning loyalty towards the royal family of Cervinjev.
Leader: Queen Nika
Government:
Composed of the traditional system of a singular King or Queen with supporting landowning Lords, Cervinjev is in some ways stuck in the times. A small army of civil servants work within the capital, drafting and developing the laws of the land while judges are appointed in the form of ‘Wardens’: judge, jury, and executioner they hold sway over most of the populace. About the royal family stands a small council of advisors on both military and civil matters for events and items that affect the kingdom as a whole; most Lords hold the very same sort of councils for affairs which affect only themselves.

No central army for the kingdom of Cervinjev exists with instead levies raised by the various Lords of the kingdom for use in campaigns. Some of the wealthier may employ standing armies, though this is the exception to the rule, while others might hire quality mercenaries for the same work. The only considerable, visible symbol as a standing army for the royal family itself is the Sword Saints, sworn to them and the kingdom.
History:
Nearly four hundred years ago, Cervinjev was first built out of a contract, or at least this is what mythology, not history, suggests. When Senko stood in his stone fort, he lamented what he saw as squalor about him. He wished more for the peasants outside, for his men under arms, more for his people, more for his family. He called to the priest, brought them forth, and bade them to call out upon Hukuttaa, Goddess of War. The priest said no, for the Goddess was brutal and bloody, for she demanded payment before talk, for she would bring savageries upon the fort, upon the peasants, upon Senko. Senko grasped the book from the priest’s hands, turning the pages, and went outside. There, he performed the ritual in calling that Goddess forth, cutting a lamb’s throat and using the blood as paint. She did not appear. The men began to whisper among themselves.

That night, she came to him in his sleep and asked the man why he wished to speak, asked him what words he had to say that she had not heard before. She stared hard into him, frozen fingers tied about her belt, a cloak of spines clattering together and against her bare back, and Senko could only speak the truth. He said he wanted his people to be strong, to be strong with Hukuttaa and to be strong with themselves. He wanted his own to be able to stay this way. The Goddess frowned at this, asked him what he would pay for this. The man said his own strength and, smiling, that dream ended. When Senko awoke, he could not rise from his bed for half an hour. He had trouble standing, had to walk with a cane, and seemingly nothing about him had changed.

Seeing their lord struck down like this, that after calling upon such a cruel mistress he would be ailed so, one of his banner-men Lyuben approached the man in the courtyard with his sword drawn and challenged Senko to a duel. Eager to claim his victory, Lyuben roared out his claim of superiority, that he knew how to best lead, that he knew how to best fight. Unable to draw steel, arms still weak, Senko was prepared to die. Foolishness and a wish for magic had brought him only death. And yet he was not so prepared as to simply die; he had to die standing, as honor dictated. When the sword blow came down, Senko attempted to block his his cane, a solid oaken staff cut to size, and the blade bit deep...yet it did not bite through. Wrenching his blade free, the cane splintered and Senko, in a blood lust long thought forgotten, both dove and fell against his foe, sharpened stick in hand. Lyuben’s blade was too far back to block, and, with his hands both back upon his handle, he could not stop the man as oak pierced into his neck. Following this duel, Senko was helped up onto his feet and could do nothing but give a prayer to Hukuttaa for her aid. She did not aid him, though was nevertheless pleased in this.

In the days following, as Senko gathered his forces together and began to train them, many of his own found themselves under strange dreams. Hukuttaa would appear to them, letting herself be known, and would tell them that they were chosen, that they would take up the sword, that none would fell them. These were all of moderate age and build and many simply nodded, for this was all they could do. When one did not take up the sword, he fell ill, coughing up black bile before, after half a week of the punishment, dying. These warriors Senko named Einherjar, Armies of One, and they went to war against their neighbors.

As the years passed by it became evident that the new warriors held something different. As each battle came and went, not one would fall in battle and, as each kill came and went, they glowed just a little more, their blades biting just a little deeper, and it came to be known that a power favored Senko and his children. Taking many a city, he would chose to name the lands he had taken Cervinjev, the origins of that word lost. Some think it to be a name Hukuttaa herself chose, though that holds no matter. After fifty years, Senko had fallen deeply in his physical health, bedridden for most of the day, though his efforts had yielded a northern kingdom of strength and size, five children of health despite the frailties they too bore. In one way it broke his heart to see them in such conditions as he. Senko would be succeeded by his first son, Rosta Reznicek. Under the rule of King Rosta, Cervinjev would prosper greatly in her economies. Construction continued for the new capital, industry began as far as it might be considered to actually be industry, and fortifications were drawn up. The Sword Saints, now named after several actions by singular persons that routed or massacred the enemy, were found to be without employ and began to rove the land about their home, always on the guard as raiders and bandits found themselves at the mercy of a new enemy. Such things continued as the newfound Order Of Blades, a priestly order of Hukuttaa, began to gain traction within Cervinjev. Seen as the heralds of the Goddess who attributed the success of their kingdom to the same, their ministrations were not welcomed by all. Rosta’s son, King Vihren, viewed them as a threat to his own power base. Being crowned by another meant that it was not by your hand that your power came and he viewed this as a weakness.

When the Order of Blades began to stir the lords against him, began to float the idea that the kingdom might do better under the stewards of their Goddess, Vihren acted quickly and with little mercy. Employing a cadre of Sword Saints, he burnt their temples and hung the apostates as traitors towards his rule and, by extension, Hukuttaa herself. Four lords rose up against this, stating their King a heretic, and with those lords rose the aspirations of the neighboring kingdom of Bormigda. They saw the infighting as their own opportunity to claim territory. King Vihren, in response, called upon every Sword Saint in royal proclamation, engaging the traitors and foreigners in the vaunted Battle of Oaks. While a half-dozen skirmishes and brief conflicts peppered the war, both sides maneuvered themselves in a singular battle to determine all. When the Bormigdans began a heavy cavalry charge upon his right flank, charging down a hilly outcrop, the traitor legions marching up his center in a close-packed shield wall, the Cervinjevi formation held fast. A scattering of Sword Saints stood within the ranks, rallying the common man, and their own shield wall burst with an inhuman glow. The Bormigdans charged down, down and into their failures as well-disguised trenches filled with oaken stakes caused them to lose footing. Skirmishing archers peppering the fallen cavalrymen, the Sword Saints alone charged against the traitor shield wall. They burst against it, breaking massed holes in the enemy line, and with them charged the rest of the Cervinjevi line. Despite the Bormigdan reserve moving to support the traitor line, Vihren’s forces continued to press the assault while secondary units moved to attack the enemy rear and supply lines. The partial encirclement was only noticed when those units began to attack the rear of the main force. Seeking to withdraw to a more favorable position, the enemy began a fighting retreat funneled out to a nearby river. Cervinjevi light cavalry charged the fleeing soldiers, cutting them down before portions started to surrender. Following the battle, King Vihren executed the four lords, the Bormigdan general, and proceeded to counter-invade Bormigda itself.

This invasion went startlingly well, as the majority of Bormigda’s manpower was not mobilized and her lords did not receive word of their catastrophic defeat. Avoiding defensives and castles while putting any towns they found to the torch and slaughtering the populaces to a man, they approached the enemy capital of Szkor nearly undetected. Vihren would insert several Sword Saints into the enemy walls, beginning his assault only when they physically detonated the gates. As he charged forward, the enemy keep would also be destroyed by a group of Sword Saints who had decided not to wait for their friends. In the close quarter spaces, the defenders funneled as well as the attackers, it was a slaughter. Following Szkor’s taking, Vihren called the remaining Bormigdan lords there and demanded they pledge fealty. Seeing the crippled man surrounded by corpses, the decapitated head of their King, and dozens of Sword Saints, they did so grimly. Vihren’s sons would continue this tradition of victory against neighboring powers, expanding Cervinjev gradually over the years.

This would end just fifty years ago when Hirimorut, a kingdom of giants occupying what is now eastern Cervinjev, would be conquered and her giants turned to myth by Queen Sladyana, grandmother to Nika. Since then the nation has consolidated it’s strength and not participating in the playgames of the five other nations. It stands as one of the safest for travelers, bandits never finding much life among the Sword Saints who ply the road for more souls to eat, though it’s not a friendly place towards the foreigner.

Born in Cervinjev to the royal family, Nika’s early life was harder than many of her peers though not something unexpected. With poor constitution and brittle bones, a close eye was always kept on her and her father made every effort to keep his children cared for. Physicians came from even the learned institutions of the Demovorn Empire in order to help better Nika’s condition, though many were only able to prescribe poultices and potions in order to lessen the pain. She took these dutifully, something that continues even today. And yet, the young queen was not alone in her plight; with two younger brothers who suffered the same condition as she, they seemed more a family of cripples than one of the most powerful royalty about.

She would grow into her own role, though, as a future Queen. Through her teachers she gained a better capability in the smaller details of the world, of management and military matters, of the civil world with construction and agriculture and such requirements as that for the people. Through her instructors Nika garnered an understanding of the practical applications of this knowledge, historical situations being presented to her almost weekly with instructions to solve such situations and a rule to not look such situations in the books. While not always solving such things perfectly, generally the young Princess solved the problem at hand to some satisfaction or at the very least avoided the mistakes of the past. She developed a mindset that the internal status quo should be maintained at most costs unless of course such change was controlled and gradual towards the positive manner, something that many rulers find either instinctual or ignore entirely. In direct contrast, Nika instead developed such a thing over time.

Her father, however, found such a thing unsatisfactory. He wanted his daughter to have practical ability in these natures and, as a result, set aside a piece of land near Szkor called

    Kingdom App:
    Name: Ambaranyë
History: With the death of the last high king of the mighty house of Ñoldóran in battle against the first emperor of Denevorn the Ñoldóran empire of the elves came to a sudden and ignominious end. From thence the elves became increasingly a wandering and exiled people, kingless and without a government capable of uniting their disparate tribes into a polity strong enough to contend with the power of the rising mannish empire. The remaining princes of the great elven houses retreated to isolated lands and princedoms over which they could role in splendid isolation from the world of men, but the dream of a united realm remained alive in the hearts of the elves. The opportunity would come from the, for the elves, most likely of sources; the half-elves. Under their chieftain Elerondo i Perelda the half-elves set about building a kingdom of their own, one far more open and tolerant than the high kingdom of the Ñoldóran. Elerondo, laying no claim to the high-kingship though he was from his elven mother a descendant of the House of Ñoldóran through a policy of careful diplomacy gradually convinced the great elven magnates and lords to join together into a commonwealth, or republic, called in its foreign correspondence, Ambaranyë. An essential figure in facilitating this Gathering of the elven lands, or Yomenië, under one government was the Lady Ñalatáriel. As the last surviving grandchild of Ñoldóran herself she was of impeccable breeding and but for her sex may have claimed the high kingship herself. Instead she choose to lend legitimacy and support to her distant nephew Elerondo, a great great great grandson of Ñoldóran, who was also her son-in-law.
    Climate/Geography:
    Known Best For?:
Leader: Ñalatáriel Arafinwëndë nossë Ñoldóran i Ñgoldo and Elerondo Eärendilondo nossë Marach i Perelda among others
Government: As a collection of formerly sovereign fiefs and lands Ambaranyë has a decidedly federal governing structure with the individual lords and magnates of the realm exercising great control over their respective domains. At the central level power is chiefly exercised through the Ñgólemwë Heren, a council of the principal leaders. Admission to the Heren is decided by unanimity among existing members. Of the nineteen members who has served on this body since its founding under the later days of the High Kingdom only six has not been members of the House of Ñoldóran and only two, Elerondo, a half elf, and Tóril Melyanna, a dryad sorceress, has not been elves. Despite this fact the council is at least technically open to people of non-Elvish and non-Ñoldóran origin and it is routinely convened with participation of non-members some of which has been humans. In particular the council has at times extended invitations to attend its meetings to the most powerful rulers of the mannish kingdoms and the emperors of Denevorn has had a standing invitation to the council proceedings since the founding of the Ambaranyë though this may be little more than a formal nicety as mannish rulers rarely have the time, or interest, to attend the meetings of a foreign state council.

While the powers of the Heren is mostly informal and advisory and it has no authority to compel individual lords and rulers of the states of the Ambaranyë to do anything the council possess enormous normative power and as its decisions are reached by consensus and with involvement of all the great lords and ladies of the Ambaranyë the council decisions is effectively always honored. The council is empowered to serve as a high court of arbitration in disputes between the lords of the Ambaranyë, to conduct a common foreign policy, to review and interpret the ancient laws of the High Kings. Finally only the council, by unanimity, can name a new High King, a power the council has never excercised but nevertheless maintain that it possess.

    Putting up my own WIP:

    Name: Asmodea Brightflame
    Age: 31
    Gender: Female
    Appearance: https://thepinkseat-askthemoonbunny.tum ... l-tiefling
Bio: Dea was born the only child to the wizard Mahal Brightflame, a once-famous adventurer and arcanist who was constantly on the search for ways to increase his magical power and knowledge like most wizards. During one of his experiments, he tried summoning a being of great power in hopes of enthralling it to his service using forbidden texts he snuck from the locked palace archives but instead he summoned a beautiful succubus woman...Arcylia the demon queen. At first she thought to kill this mortal for having the audacity to try to bend the power of demons to his will but in reality she was kind of impressed by his power and determination. He failed to enthrall her of course but he earned a bit of her admiration. A rare trait found in mortals so she decided, fuck it, I’ll have this guy’s kid and they had a child together, Dea, named for her grandfather Asmodeus. Her parents were pretty great, meaning they didn’t kill her for being born and actually tried to raise her as normally as possible.
Being a cambion, growing up wasn’t easy for her by any means...she got shit for her heritage like most of her kind, but one mention of her parents (especially her being in line to be the next queen of the underworld) makes most fuck off real quick. That helped a bit, but of course it couldn’t save her from everything. She found solace in studying magic with her father and proved to be quite a quick study, and he was devoted to her. He even let her study forbidden magic, illegal but he thought that magic was all dependent upon the wielded and that magic wasn’t inherently good or bad.
    Race: Cambion
Occupation: Wizard Imperial to the Empire
Personality: Dea is a bit withdrawn and serious due to the discrimination she faces

Also yes, half-humans are more than welcome.

    How neat.

Prepare for some casual racism / misnaming / general notcaring from Cernvinjev. Also, how long ago was your kingdom united completely? Will definitely help in figuring-out how seriously I treat you.

    Also, casual bump I guess.

How long it has been united? I don't know, I linked the fall of the High Kingdom to the rise of the Devernorn empire so it depends on how old the empire is.

As for the name, as I mentioned its a term used only in foreign correspondence and it refers more to a form of government than a country. To the extent that its people regard themselves as being subjects of a unified country they refer to it simply as "the Realm", "the Commonwealth" or "the Republic". Foreigners might call it Álfheimr, Elvenhome or Elvenesse. These would be considered rude names however.

I’m liking the apps so far, I’ll review them more in-depth when they’re done. Ornate and Quendi, I see the work you’ve put on yours...they’ll be super interesting to play with. When I get home tomorrow, maybe we can discuss a more in-depth magic system.

I really want to see a hard magic system, with concrete rules. It should be difficult and costly to do magic, like full metal alchemist, and have rules that severely limit the abilities of magic wielders in order to justify nations and races that focus on tech instead.

The tech won't really be that advanced, since this is a pretty classic fantasy but I do agree that a magic system does need rules.

You guys think I should reboot this when it’s more fleshed out, or start the IC?

    I've busy with work. Sorry.

Perhaps an IC to show how it should go? Or a reboot, when more information is available.

Just gonna post my in-progress app to indicate that I'm still interested in this.

    Kingdom App:
Name: Githzhank Jra ("Kingdom of the Giants", in the Stone Giant tongue.)
    History:

The creation myth of the Stone Giants is as follows:

In the beginning, there was Dshalkhrythru, the First Principle, who carved himself out of the emptiness before Creation. Dshalkhrythu gave birth to a pair of twins, Tyalvlakhthru, God of the Stars, and Tvarlkvarthna, Goddess of the Soil, then began to meditate. Tyalvlakhthru and Tvarlkvarthna mated and produced two children, Sun and First Earth. Sun was impatient and erratic, while First Earth was quiet and lethargic.

One day, Sun looked over First Earth and decided it would populate the world's surface with its own children. These were enormous beings twice as tall as those that exist today, with skin of golden metal. In its arrogance, Sun had filled its children with its own essence, which was the essence of Tyalvlakthru, and none of the essence of First Earth or Tvarlkvarthna. Thus, the Golden People were infected with a seed of pride and ambition. They built a civilization that lasted for centuries, but eventually their pride grew to the point where the existence of beings above them in strength seemed an affront to them, and they resolved to kill all the gods and take their places. Sun saw this desire in their hearts and, outraged, it resolved to kill its creations before they could do so. It scorched the surface of First Earth, destroying everything it could find, but there were always pockets of survivors hidden in caves, who rapidly repopulated and cursed Sun even more. Eventually Sun became so enraged that it tore First Earth apart in order to destroy the Golden People once and for all. First Earth, in its apathy, did not resist this attack at all.

What Sun failed to realize what there was always symmetry in these things. The action of destroying of First Earth's body provoked an equal and opposite reaction - the destruction of Sun's mind. Sun fell into a deep sleep, and began mindlessly circling First Earth's remains. One half of First Earth became Moon, who was like Sun, but cooled by the power of the Soil, and Earth, who was like First Earth, but warmed by the power of the Stars.

Moon, following in Sun's footsteps, decided to create its own people. It learned from Sun's mistakes, however, and decided that it would prioritize ensuring that its creations would not rise against it. Moon thus decided to divide its children into different shapes, to ensure they would have to rely on each other and thus would never become arrogant. Its first and greatest children were the Stone People, who were mostly of the Earth and the Soil, and who were made to rule and to conquer. Its second children were the Cloud People, who were mostly of the Moon and the Stars, and who were made to teach and to listen. Finally, it made the other Peoples, such as the Fire People and the Forest People, who were of varied and irregular essences, and who were made to labour. According to tradition, Moon created the Peoples at the peak of the holy Mount Tvraltayal, the "centre of the world", where east, west, north, south, sky, and land meet. After Moon finished his work left Tvraltayal, the discarded raw material he had worked with became a strange kind of diminutive homunculi, who called themselves "men" and "elves", and who had no purpose.

From there, the various Peoples spread across the Earth, settling it and taming it. The majority of the Stone Giants and Cloud Giants remained in the Tvral mountain range.

    the City-State of Rjaqlesh
Climate/Geography: Mountainous and cool in the higher regions where the majority of the population resides, gives way to humid jungle along the outskirts.
Known Best For?: Being the most powerful Giant state on the continent, and thus claiming to rule over all Giants. Also, their archers - A Stone Giant with a proportionally-sized bow is less of a warrior and more of a walking siege engine.
Leader: King Jralhikskasqu, son of Jralguhaksi
    Government:
